Take out - Food was excellent. We had the no. 2 for 3; and extra egg rolls.
I got Combination Dinner #3 and an extra egg roll. Didn't get a fortune cookie ☹️ food is always delicious.
Myself plus three others ordered take out every thing was delicious and hot the only thing that was wrong is they forgot our chicken and broccoli other than that it was great definitely order here again
We've been coming for takeout for years....quality has nosedived tho. Last time fried rice was dry, eggrolls were underdone, chicken balls were a little hard and spareribs were great. Feels like they are making too much food and it is sitting too long. Too bad....used to love this place.
Went there last summer. Sadly, first and last time visiting. They state on the restaurant that they serve both Chinese and Canadian food, we asked about the hamburger platter and the waitress told us it was meant for sharing so we ordered one for the two of us (the price also indicated it was bigger than the individual hamburger). Once it arrived, in actually consisted of the smallest hamburger I've ever been served and a lot of french fries. The meat was so overcooked it was hard. My husband ordered another burger and the quality of the meat was so bad it had hard chunks in it that were impossible to chew and it was also overcooked. We were disappointed because the food also took so long to arrive we were already too hundry and had no other option but to eat it, but that wasn't a pleasant experience at all so even though we were hungry, we didn't finish our meal.
HORRIBLE SERVICE!! I have been eating here for atleast the past 10 years and I will never again!! I live in the country now amd spent easily $20 in gas yesterday not to mention time to drive there and home for simply chicken balls chicken 4 extra fried rice and 3 eggrolls and they only filled the chicken ball order, naturally I called back and explained and after 20 minutes on the phone they agreed to redo the order and for pick up the next day (today). Called in today to make sure the order was ready for pick up and they sent a single order and then expected me to drive back in to show my recipete once again to get it rite!! Food was awful chicken was way chewy and rice not great chin balls over done and the one egg roll we actually for was not cooked properly.
Really good service. Comes here for typical Canadian Chinese food. Got a combo plate. Chicken Balls and rice were pretty good. Rice was acceptable and the egg rolls were awesome. However the ribs tasted bland and I couldn't put my finger on why but seemed like they could have been reheated. Not sure but something was up with them!
The service was okay, and the egg rolls are great, but otherwise I was a bit disappointed, as the food items weren’t as fresh as they could have been. One reviewer described it as “Canadian Chinese food” and I would agree. I’ll be back for more of the egg rolls though, as they are fantastic.

Very affordable and some of the best Chinese food I ve had.
Tasteless, cheap food, but the price was not cheap at all. Found hair in the plate, for which sorry was given but no new plate. Dirty dishes and glasses. Should have walked out as soon as walked in, the look said it all.
The combos are great, good price. I dont go beyond those. Comfort food, has changed hands but this location has been a staple in Charlottetown for many many years.
Our waitress was very nice. Food was slower than usual to be served to us. Food was great, just the way we like it - Canadian style Chinese food. Water should have had ice . Atmosphere dreary, dont think that it has been updated since the place was built, whatever year that was !! Were wondering if this place is under new management ??

Got very sick after eating there , waitress was very nice but the eggrolls had a bad smell and tbr ribs were tasteless and reheated God knows how many times.
One of the worst restaurants we have eaten at. Several items offered on the menu were not available. The waitresses spoke almost no English and no French at all. Errors in the dishes we were served. Ingredients not very fresh, cooking sloppy and barely warm. Not very clean place. We came out with a bad taste in our mouths and were sick. A place to avoid at all costs.

That waitress Oraphan is the absolute sweetest thing. She is always so polite and checks often with her tables. The atmosphere is very cozy and calm, very nice location as well. This is mine and my friends favourite spot

This place is a Charlottetown tradition.
Had the phone off the hook so I couldnt get through to place an order. Went in person and was told it would be 30-35 minutes but it was more like 50 minutes. Others that came in after me got their order first. I was not impressed. Thankfully the food was good once I finally got it.

This will be the last time we order on New Years eve, perhaps the last time we eat from here at all. The food was certainly not the best. The chicken CHUNKS tasted like rubber and under cooked. Chicken fried rice was dry and nearly inedible. Positive my $50 could have been better spent. A real disappointment for our New Years dinner
Alot better than it used to be years ago, friendly service, best Chinese food in Charlottetown again! Hands down. We gave up on China Garden not even good after the bar food anymore much less through the day

Used to be good, but last time I ate there egg roll and chicken balls way over cooked. Almost too hard to bite into. Then I found a non food item mixed in with the rice.. gross.. never again.

A good but not sensational restaurant. The food is good without any plus. A nice family restaurant to have good old chinese/canadian cuisine.
Canadian Chinese style food.. great service and awesome egg rolls but food is not good.. lemon chicken came with lemon water - not sauce, over cooked and all batter. Everyone of us were disappointed with food but complaints to owners feel on deaf ears.. If you like egg rolls then good to go but all else is a pass.

Food good, people very friendly, delivery prompt and FREE. Badly needs new management, who will pick up the phone! 3/4 of the time, we have to order from another restaurant because the line is always, always busy. Theyre the only ones in town who havent been shut down for food safety.
Good prices for what you get. Two people can share a dinner for one. It is more than enough with an extra egg roll. The restaurant decor is a bit dated but adds to the charm.

I cant say enough about how great this food is. I cant find anything like it in all of PEI and NB, where I currently live. I travel all the way to PEI just for the lemon chicken, as many times as I can. The egg rolls are also fantastic. I have gotten entire orders of just egg rolls before.

Very disappointed...paid for two orders of wontons...only recieved one. Also, vegetables were well past their prime with lots of dark spots. Staff, however, were very nice, but the food quality has deteriorated.
My brothers favorite place to eat we go there every time he comes back to the island.

My first time in Charlottown. Tonight I made the biggest mistake and felt completely robbed. I ordered shrimp and scallops with vegetables which cost including tax about $25. I was excited to come home and enjoy my take out and when I opened the container, I was in a complete shock!!! A few scallops and tiny shrimps!!! Im not on a diet mate!!! And when I tasted the food, it was tasteless!!! No ginger, no garlic... No salt, Is this a diabetic meal??? I am so disappointed!!! So upset that they can serve crappy food. I couldnt finish the shrimps and scallops that I can count because it is tasteless!!! In the garbage it goes because thats what I ate, garbage.

I went to the Canton Cafe for the first time in many years. It wasnt a great experience at all. The server was very nice but when we complained that our ribs were tasteless and over microwaved and not edible, he apologized for them and took them away. When he brought the bill he said tell the guy at the cash your ribs werent good and you didnt eat them. So we mentioned it to the cash guy and he shrugs and says We have lots of customers, everyone get the same, everyone pay. I told him if they were fine we would have eaten them. He again shrugs and says everyone get same everyone pay. I told him they were clearly over microwaved and like rubber not good at all. He again says everyone get same everyone pay. I say Ill pay but I will NOT be back! What a joke for customer service!
I went there the other evening and got my fav chicken balls with fries and gravy it was delightful tasty and plentiful prices are great and the small man at the cash was so hardworking at what he was doing he was so polite such a gentleman!!
Love the Canton. A Charlottetown classic - consistently good and open late.

Very disappointed with the food since the new owners took over. Its either over cooked or under cooked and doesnt take very good. They take their phone off the hook during the day because they cannot handle the orders. Its to busy for them.
Food missing from my order and the phone off the hook too much. I live 30 minutes from the restraunt so I wasnt driving back for the other half of my order that night but tried for hours to reach them by phone and no luck. Terrible experience...
Finally they returned to their old recipe for egg rolls. Best ones in pei.
Have eaten at the canton for years and always go back because you could always count on good food. However last time we had the canton the food was terrible!!! The egg rolls were not edible, the same with the rest of our food. I was extremely disappointed and will never go back. Just not even close to the quality of food I have come to expect from the canton. It s too bad that the canton name is associated with such poor quality now.

I ate here 25 years ago. Today the Canadian Chinese menu, the food is the same, the decor is the same, and Im guessing most of the staff are the same. Great for a late - night scoff, but dont be expecting much.
