Maid Marian's Diner is a locally owned and operated family diner. Our family serving your family for more than 35 years!
We visited late in the day and unfortunately the restaurant had run out of the daily special, potatoes, and other items. Our server Ashlyn was superb. She was pleasant, friendly, and very patient. The food is delicious and explains why at the end of the day, many menu items were out. Highly recommend arriving before the dinner hour if going for the special.
A classic diner experience with delicious food! I had the pleasure of having the fish cakes, the cinnamon roll, and the buffalo chicken wrap. All of these tasted amazing, I went here twice on my 4-day trip to PEI. It's a great way to start a day of sight seeing
Fast and amazing food. Portions were large and prices were low.
Great little diner, first place we stopped to eat at in PEI, we did have to wait a while for a server to sit us even though it didn't seem that busy. The food was very quick to arrive, and we got three breakfast plates and a steak sandwich. The breakfast plates were very good, unfortunately the sandwich was pretty dry as it had very little cheese and absolutely no sauce or au jus to go with it. They provided HP steak sauce for the sandwich but I'm not very fond of the flavor. Luckily I asked for gravy which was poured over the fries, so I scraped up what I could to moisten the steak. The waitresses were fairly nice, we did get constant coffee refills, but no water refills. Long line to pay for food as there is a constant stream of people coming in just to get a coffee and to-go pastry. Overall not bad for the price and food, I would recommend.
Great first experience- fantastic portions, decent mix of options and included a coffee/tea with out breakfast.. always a plus! We will be back!!
Wanted something quick and decently priced. When we pulled up it was a full parking lot which is always a good sign. We walked in and we’re seated within minuets. We had barely put in our order and BAM foods at our table. Hot and fresh. Our server was there anytime we needed her. The staff were all smiling and cheerful. Can’t wait to come back.
Wow! What an amazing restaurant!this place was a hopping! All the servers were awesome! It was so nice to hear them chatting away to each other and hearing the laughter. The food was so good that we bought some of the homemade goodies such as cinnamon buns, butter tarts, and date squares. We love supporting mom and pops business, and we definitely support this one 100% Keep it up on whatever you are doing to keep these awesome servers, cooks etc!
I got the Marian’s Turkey wrap and it was like Christmas dinner in a wrap, so so so good. My lunch date had Bacon Cheese dog with onion rings, and they said it was awesome. All around great place to eat. There is a line during peak hours, but it moves along pretty good.
Great place for all day breakfast
Always good.
I have been going to this place for about 5-6 years now and it is and probably always will be my favourite diner. The cook named Patrick Perry is absolutely amazing, he is sweet, kind and an amazing cook. Parking: It depends on what time you get to the diner to find parking, if you go at about noon you may not find parking , but if you go earlier in the day or later in the day you have a better chance at finding parking spots.
No cash delivery. Too many restaurants making difficult to order from them.
Good breakfast at a great price
Food was nothing special. Basically home a cook meal. Cost about the same as fast food. The only plus is it healthier. The service was ok. Its not restaurant that makes me want to come back for their food. I like to go to place that have three own spin on food. This was not one of those places
I think its one of these places where you feel at home. Nice prices and good quality foods. The portions are great.
Nothing fancy, just good food in a clean environment, quick service. Friendly
The best place in Charlottetown for home-cooked food. They have the best cheeseburger platters in town. They arent happy until you are. Its been my go-to place to eat for years.
Amazing food and service!
Great food, really generous portions (the biscuits are huge!) Service is quick
Very pleasant down home vibe
I personally am not a fan of their food and I think I had the worst milkshake ever known to mankind from there but I know a lot of people who love their food
If you come to Charlottetown then stop here for a meal. Its a great local diner with a classic menu. The staff are friendly and the food is great. Good price point too. Ill definitely be returning the next time Im in PEI.
Came looking for the small diner atmosphere and was met with exactly that. The staff were pleasant and kind. The food was good, and the restaurant was clean.
They have friendly an great service but wasnt too happy with the thursday special..its been awhile since Ive been here an notice the turkey an stuffing has changed not for the good..it was my favorite special until today..other then that maids is good place an speedy food sevice..I recommend this place
Most excellent
Perfect family restaurant, its not a Michelin five star restaurant and its not trying to be. Good food at a good price, great service, and a place youll feel comfortable whether alone or in a group. And the baked goods are outstanding
Great place to eat. Excellent food & staff are awesome
Good home style food at a good price
Just a great place to grab a simple meal.
Stop for amazing lunch at this gem. The fish burger was delicious. The staff friendly and the service quick. Most of all, best value biggest bang for buck. Would definitely go back their butter tarts are worth dying for!
I enjoyed the food here. Great service as well.
Cheapy and good
Great food and dessert. Prices are very reasonable and portions are good. Staff very friendly
Good food at excellent prices. The decor is a bit bland and dated, though.
Kid-friendliness: Good choices for kids. Food
Food was a standard yummy breakfast, prices were fair - I recommend for breakfast lovers! If you re someone who heavily relies your experience on the service, might be a hit or miss for you. Everyone felt super rushed, our waitress essentially gave us our food and quite literally never returned to check on us or give more coffee (no, it wasn t that busy) and when I asked for a to go box it took me about 15 minutes to wait before getting to myself to pay at the counter (which nobody told us, but that s what you have to do). When I asked for a box again, our waitress snapped I m doing it right now!
Great service, big portions and great breakfast!!
Food was not good. Service was good.
Butterscotch Milkshake is to die for. Of course they all are but I only had the chance to try 1 flavor ;-; and I live in a different country. Food : 5/5
Great service and awesome food. The food doesnt take long and it comes out hot.
Absolutely amazing food , nothing beats a good home cooked meal topped with great friendly service!! Highly recommend eating here you seriously dont wanna miss out !!!
Really nice little restaurant. Stopped on the way home for breakfast. Food was good, fast, and service was great. Would reccomend!
I have been going to maid marians for 25 years and its always been fantastic. My latest experience was just disappointing . They have slowly made changes over the years that worsen the value of the breakfasts, the latest change being the home fries. After eating this morning I didnt have the same satisfied maids expirience that I have continued to crave for 25 years. My wife and I both did not finish our meals. For the first time ever I did not finish my breakfast at maid marians. I was VERY disappointed. I can only say that I dont feel like going back now. The breakfast has lost its quality and the Diner has lost its integrity. But I still love the staff for making this place a morning heaven for 25+ years. Why try to fix that which was not broken?
Very good portions. Could offer the breakfast bowl with more options. If you want more than 2 toppings its $1 each. Meat I could see..but $1 for tomato and another dollar for onion is alot. It was delicious and great friendly service.
We had the cheeseburger platter and the steak sandwich platter. Just wonderful. Fast and friendly service. Clean. Great parking. The onion rings are perfect. Owen our waiter was super nice
A great place to connect with friends and family.
A popular place amongst the locals. Friendly staff and service.
Maids is always a great place to go for breakfast or dinner. Reasonable prices and good food. Really good desserts as well
Great food, awesome milkshakes and friendly staff at a good price.
Place was lined up with lots of customers waiting to be seated but we waited and it was no time before we were taken to a table. Great food, fast service, friendly staff, DELICIOUS food. There were 4 of us and we all ordered different. We all said how Great everything tasted. Will definitely recommend the place and go back again next trip to PEI.
Seriously great, excellent value, friendly, fast. Highly recommended
Visiting from northern Ontario and my husband and I were looking for a breakfast spot and we found this great place. Its truly a gem on this beautiful island. Thank you for the great food and service.
Busy spot but well worth the wait. Breakfast was delicious and like the fact that you could order breakfast with toast (no hashbrown or home fries option). Omelet was delicious. Service was fast and friendly. Only thing missing was tomato juice :( Great coffee though!
My daughter and I went here on a Sunday, around 11:45 for our last day in PEI, and we were seated by 12, and we had food by 12:20. It was amazing, the service was great, portions were big and the people were so nice. We will be back!
Lovely - recommended on Tripadvisor! Parking: Lots of free parking! Food : 5/5 |
Just ok. Service started out great but then we never saw our waitress again after our food came. Waited forever for the bill only to get up to ask and were told that we were supposed to go to the register to pay. This was our first time here so we didnt know. ALSO DONT get the mashed potatoes, they were so bland.
Maid Marians has wonderful food options with big portions! Service was wonderful and the food was great! Our friends had a wrap and a lobster wrap. The lobster wrap with tax was 19 dollars and change. I had the halibut which was wonderful. My wife had the club sandwich. Always a go-to place.
A great family restaurant. Portions are generous and the menu has something for everyone. A relaxed, comfortable atmosphere. We had a group of 10 and everyone was happy.
Great service and staff and yummy cheap food Edit june 2024, Went on my recent trip and it was not as good. The pancakes fell flat this time, but the Toast was great and the bacon too. Service was great. I was warned it wasnt the same maids as before. Is it new owners? Cause if so you need to get the old recipes back.
Food is good...service is always fast. A good affordable breakfast Food
Classic diner food!
Great menu and very reasonable prices. Huge homemade cakes and pies for sale as well. Fair size parking lot, but tight fit for anything larger than a car or small van.
The food was hot and delicious. The service was fast. Highly recommended. Parking: Easy to find spots as it is located around other places Kid-friendliness: High chairs, kid menu and coloring while they wait Wheelchair accessibility: There is wheel chair access and handicap spots.
Best restaurant in PEI Parking: Can be tight but usually some room around the side/back Kid-friendliness: Kid friendly
Always a pleasure
Great food, friendly service, a bit old fashion atmosphere.
You can ask to have mashed potatoes prepared instead of frying them. There is little crowd, but its good. I recommend. Food
A real diamond in the sea of tourist oriented artisanal food places that barely serve real food - this place has a great breakfast selection, generous portions, all is fresh and tasty, as well as reasonably priced. Will definitely come again when in the area
Wheelchair accessibility: Ranped path Food
Great food and prompt service
This is our go to place when running into Charlottetown. We stop in for breakfast before doing our shopping. The girls are helpful and kind and the breakfast is delicious.
One of my favorite breakfast spots.
Delicious food, decent prices
Good local dinner. Very traditional menu. Busy spot so lots of activity. Certainly recommend and will likely return Wheelchair accessibility: A bit tight in the entrance. Cars park close and the cash is right inside with often a group waiting for tables. Makes it a bit of a challenge for mobility challenged people
Food is delicious great service
Love the home style food Each time Im in PEI, gotta dine at Maid Marians!
I had the steak sandwich, and it was great. Generous portions. I took home the leftover and was enough for lunch the next day. Hubby enjoyed the daily special. Very efficient service .
Great family restaurant, good food and great service.
Food was great and left full.
Cinnamon roll! Please bring back handcut fries. Were on PEI. Theres no excuse for frozen fries. Food : 4/5
Good family friendly breakfast and lunch stop.
Good food and prices
Great experience. Loved it!
Great food and service at good prices
Food Amazing, Prices Amazing, Staff good, and the place is kind of an old fashion dinner but people swear by it. I love their breakfest.
Its fine. Decent food, mid price
This is one of my favourite breakfast spots in Charlottetown. Its always a lively atmosphere, service is speedy, and food has always satisfied me. Prices are more than reasonable, and I highly recommend visiting!
Went around 11 am, if you dont go at odd hours, you will be in a lineup, but even those move rather quick. Service always great, great food, all day breakfast, so many things on menu, great hot food! Soups awesome, and the biscuits..,huge!
Amazing quality food with reasonable pricing! It s always busy which is a good sign, we were seated and served very quickly and the staff were extremely friendly.
Decent food prices have skyrocketed. Staff is just OK.
Food: Edible Staff: Horrendous Courtesy: Non Existent. Restaurant: Holes in walls, Exposed wires, broken Thermostat, exposed ceiling vent, flies all over the place. Verdict; Best to avoid this place.
great breakfest. was busy but no wait to sit, and was fast. decent price
Fast seating, fast service, good food which arrived quickly. Nice old style ( booths) seats.
Always generous portions & great service
One of the best places ever! If you are in Charlottetown, GO!!
Awesome! Best diner around. Super friendly staff and great food. My go-to food place now.
It has a very chill and laid-back atmosphere, lovely staff and the food was delicious. Good selection of options to choose from without getting too overwhelmed, only down side was the meal was so filling I had no room for desert, and boy the pies looked amazing. If it wasnt for tiny fridges at the hotel, I might have taken one with me.
Busy place for good reasons.
Overprice for what you have in your plate. The waitress we had was rude. Would choose another restaurant next time.
Hands down the best breakfast in town
Friendly staff, quick service, busy place for breakfast
Diner fare at a reasonable price. An institution for anyone who needs a hangover breakfast
The food was excellent and serving staff was friendly and were quite prompt in noticing if we needed a coffee refill or ask if there was anything else we might need
I didnt care for the sausage. The rest of breakfast was good.
The food was good, prices not bad and portion sizes were good. Sadly it was extremely busy and the way we were served was not fantastic. We felt rushed, I ordered a poutine and my plate got handed to me with just fries and gravy, I waited a bit for a waitress which she took it back, it came back with a small amount of cheese but it was still really good. Feel like they need more staff so the waitresses aren t so stressed out.
Fast service good food noisey when busy
Great
Great food, fast and friendly service. Portions are large. I got the 2 piece fish and chips and had leftovers. Will be back the next time we are to the island!
Went 2 days in a row, had the same thing both days. Large portions for dinner type plates. I ordered 2 eggs, 1 blueberry pancake and a side of bacon. I did not want a lot of carbs so my order was a la carte for each. Otherwise I can say you would not walk out feeling hungry after eating here. I was comfortably full. Pancake was full plate size. ( about9 ) so did not order a full order. It is a local favorite, always busy, always full. (I have been in previous visits/ previous yrs). Food is always good, big down home east coast style menu and portions. Burgers, sandwiches, poutine style dinner plates with optional turkey or beef toppings. A local favorite of the canadian maritimes, called a hot mess , consists of French fries, gravy, beef or turkey and peas all piled on a plate smothered in gravy. The turkey version is also served with a side of cranberries. I sat up at the diner bar with all the other single/ solo diners and there was about 6 others all having the hot mess. It is popular and if you are a French fry lover, and can eat a lot of food, this might be a dish for you to try. There are ample other selections from all day breakfast dishes, to dinner plates and sandwiches. A great place but patience is required both to actually get a seat, and then to get waited on. Once ordered, the food comes quick. The longest and most frustrating part of the experience is the waiting for a seat and then to get waited on. Therefore the 4 stars. having said that, once you try it, you might find the wait is worth it! (the hot mess turkey version is the photo) Parking: Suitable ample close parking to building.
Delicious food! Huge portions, super friendly staff. The pancakes were divine and dont forget to try the milkshake!!!
Very good food quick service friendly staff prices are responsible. Would recommend to anyone visiting Charlestown.
Old school classic diner. Thought it was going to be average, especially with such reasonable prices, but was pleasantly surprised by how yummy it was. Got a homemade cherry cheesecake to go, and it was amazing later!
Ok but so so
Breakfast was delicious
Ate eggs benedict, it was delicious!
Ive been 12 times in the past four weeks. This place is awesome!
Service is always fast and friendly. Food is good and this is your usual family dinner. Not fancy but clean. Wheelchair accessibility: Easily wheelchair accessible
The waffles werent normal waffles and they gave smuckers syrup instead of maple which is crazy since we were in Canada.
We felt a bit rushed during our visit. The food was classic. The waitress looked like she wasnt happy that we had trouble ordering. Parking: Can get full pretty fast.
I had the turkey dinner . I have had it before . But this time it was the worst turkey dinner. And the potatoes were to wet . Not good at all . Never again .
Delicious, homemade-tasting food. Very reasonably priced.
Went in for lunch. The fish & chips were terrible. Fish batter had a distinct taste of flour and it was horribly greasy GROSS My husband had hot hamburger sandwich the bread was ice cold as if it was just out of the freezer . If they thought there disgusting gravy would help it didnt.. They definitely use CANNED GRAVY the taste I awful. He asked for Gravy to be put on his fries Instead they conveniently FORGOT like always bring a side order so they can CHARGE HIM another $2.00, The food was terrible.. we will be sharing this information to everyone ! And not returning
Great local diner. Great food, friendly people.
Overall a nice little diner. If I had one complaint for a well established and busy restaurant would be to server homemade homefries and not frozen fried tater. They simply have no flavourful to them. That was my only disappointment with our breakfast meals.
Our first trip to PEI, decided to try Maid Marions for lunch. We had the burger. It was homemade, but no mayo or sauce on the burger so it was very dry. The mustard & relish were small plastic packages. Fries were good, chicken gravy too. Never checked on us, nor offered refills of drinks. We wouldnt go again.
Great spot for any meal any time if day . Breakfasts are great and so are the hot sandwiches and pies . Recommend , staff is friend and fast . Food
Very enjoyable and exactly what you expect from a diner. I especially recommend the sausages and beans with your breakfast as they are what really set this meal above others.
When I lived on the Island I would eat at Maid Marians every Friday. Now I live in NB but when I visit PEI I always stop in. I highly recommend eating here home style cooking and the staff is always friendly. Makes you feel like family. Food : 5/5
Nice old school place, good food good prices
The best diner for breakfast.
Was looking forward to a nice homemade meal , walked in and waited at door for ten minutes. Decided to sit at counter as someone walked in after us and got served right away . We sat down ( no hello no nothing ) then a woman walked in ( we had been there for 15 min at this point . ) she sat at counter and was greeted immediately and had a drink in front of her in no time . We sat for a few more minutes still no one acknowledged us . So we walked out . So very disappointed. When the owners away ...the staff will ignore guests .
Best breakfast deal in PEI! English muffin breakfast with egg, cheese and bacon - $2.99!!!!! For Breakfast in town there s one place to go! Prices are good, big selection, quality is great and everyone is friendly. It has an old-fashioned diner feel. Love their lunch options and daily specials too! Today s corned beef dinner. Monday s is lasagna and Caesar salad!!! Best pies and cakes in PEI! Coconut Cream pie, Carrot Cake and Apple Pie top my list. If you call ahead you can order a whole cake or pie for a party or big dinner. (Deposit req for pie dish) Great daily specials. Love their Monday s lasagna special. Fries with the works too! Two-ways! Turkey dinner works or ground burger works! Expect a line, but it moves fast! All the locals are regulars. That s the best way to find good eats and fair pricing on PEI. Worth it!
The food was amazing as always. Servers were very attentive and we received our food quickly. Always a busy spot but we were seated quickly.
As usual at these dinners.
Great spot if you are looking for good local fare.
The food is ok, this is a busy place and the servers show it. Not much interaction going on and there aren t many smiling faces to be found. But it is a PEI fave. Not too sure why
Hearty food, fast service. Tip well- those servers work incredibly hard and do not stop!
Good food, fast and consistent at a fair price.
Had the fries with the works a tea bisquet and balongna. Very good. Tea bisquet was alittle dry but still good. They were huge.
Awesome food. Huge portions. Good prices. Fast friendly service. Must haves: cinnamon roll and an entire carrot cake to go.
1st time at Maid Marians in Charlottetown. Certainly will be back again.
Food was less than spectacular. The turkey tasted like it had been frozen, and the stuffing was not good.
Very friendly staff. Good food and plates get filled right up. They have quite a few people who work in the kitchen, so you get your food pretty quick, even in the middle of a rush. Ive been going here for years, and I rarely have any complaints.
Solid Diner. Very fast service. Friendly service. Good food. Good price.
From the time you sit to the time you leave. You are looked after. My wife is gluten-free (not siliac), so our waitress was really helpful and telling us what was or what could be gluten-free.
Found the quality has lowered over a year..food to expensive and quality not the best ..to bad
Authentic PEI diner, favoured by locals. Service is absolutely exceptional. All the staff are extremely friendly and welcoming. You can feel the love in the food, too. Value for money is really good.
Ive good experience, and service was great!
It s awful salad barely had anything the cheese burger had no cheese it s awful go to Wendy s instead
Stopped by for milkshakes. They were a bit expensive but quick as always and tasty
Very busy breakfast spot. Quick service and friendly staff. Food was ok. I had eggs, sausage, and home fries. Sausage was under cooked and pink on the inside. Overall, it was ok, but some parts of the restaurant could use some TLC. Will try again on a future trip to the Island.
if you want to eat with locals, this is where to go. It s a very typical diner style restaurant, but the prices are great, and the food portions are considerable. All day breakfast is excellent, and the sausages are top-notch and would strongly recommend over the ham or bacon (and sausage is usually ny least favorite).
Excellent fish and chips
Reliably good inexpensive food. Daily specials are great, coming out fast and hot. Usually quite busy but the turnover is pretty quick. Lots of booths if you have younger kids.
Food is good . Prices have increased a bit perhaps too much for some items but I guess what needs to be done is e ha too be. Staff are wonderful and pleasant.
Good food
How can you not love this place, great food, friendly staff and good prices. You wont regret it~
