Haddock was the beat i ever had. Crispy, seasoned right with the creamy sauce they used. Mashed potato perfect consistency and steamed vegetables so delish. Mussels could be better and the bread it came with wasn't even toasted so you guys missed out on this. I would love to go back and have the same haddock dish!
The late-night happy hour menu is incredible! We visited on a Saturday night and loved the lively music and vibe. The mussels were absolutely divine - we're obsessed!
Had 2 orders of Take away lobster rolls w sides. We waited at the bar and had on tap ciders of Angry Orchard and a Nova Scotia wine cooler… TY to Dolton for the warm and friendly service while we waited for our food.
Food, service and atmosphere was mid. Rose pasta had dried herbs added towards the end of cooking which made the texture like eating dried leaves. The calamari was okay. The bathrooms were dirty and one of the doors wouldn’t lock.
Was very busy when we went but managed to get seated right away. Although it was busy service was very quick and efficient, staff was friendly and helpful. Great place for a bite and a drink, has a pretty nice patio with live music on the street!
Really good food and nice outdoor patio. Best dish I tasted was the seafood pasta I recommend that one. We got the fish and chips (pretty good), salmon with fried rice (not recommend tasted plain), Chicken pasta (didn’t try), Roasted haddock (it was okay), Seafood pasta (best one)
Great dinner on a busy patio plus beautiful street music. Delicious dinner, the bacon wrapped scallops and seafood chowder were amazing. Thanks for a great dinner Maggie! We enjoyed ourselves and returned the next day for a quick bite and dessert.
We stopped and tried the 1/2 price mussels between 2 to 4 pm and it did not disappoint. Mussels steamed in white wine and lemon taste fresh, great flavor. The staff was friendly and courteous. Try the Irish Red beer on tap...refreshing and crisp. The crowd is a mix of young and old. Prices are reasonable and with the half price on mussels, you can't go wrong...Highly recommended. We came back for dinner and tried their chowder, fresh oysters and bacon wrapped scallops…all of it superb
Love the manager down there and banging food.
We ate at this restaurant recently and I had the island beef tenderloin. Steak was cooked well but the garlic mashed potatoes were inedible and tasted like plastic with no hint of garlic. A few root vegetables on the plate but the steak really needed a starch to go with it especially when it was heavily covered with a Demi glaze sauce. No bread as well. With the principle crop of PEI being potatoes, you would think potatoes should not be an issue at this restaurant.
One of the best pubs in Charlottettown. Food, service and atmosphere are great.
Called 10 times over the course of 2 hours and not a single answer.
The salads are a complete ripoff. For the price it s absurd. $27 for that crap
Nice meal but not the cheapest.
I got the sweet potato poutine here 7 years ago, and I remembered it fondly. So much so I came back seeking it again, and I was not disappointed! I highly recommend it, so delicious. Service was great too, friendly waiter.
Great location. We sat outside which was comfortable with the heat lamps. The food was delicious and the service was friendly and helpful.
Visited on a Sunday in October and ate inside although the patio is still open. Ate Southwest Nachos and they have a nice sauce on top for added flavor. We ordered them with chicken as a topping and it had some but it was very sparse and even the size of the plate of nachos seems to be smaller than previous years. Shrinkflation maybe? Nice atmosphere, lots of staff.
Very nice terrace on closed street. Impeccable service. Everything was tasty.
530 went for dinner told, by the hostess they could not put the outside table together for our table of four and our puppy. So we went to The Cork and Cast, the staff was very kind and moved the tables together immediately.
Wednesday lunch, bright & sunny day, seated outside. Excellent seafood chowder, BBQ rib plate was overloaded with tender meat, potatoes & veg, curry halibut very good. Only suggestion: location is plagued with yellow jackets/wasps so recommend restaurant set up a couple or three mugs of simple-sugar syrup or honey water somewhere to draw the insects from the tables.
Not the best mussels in town. No flavor in the sauce. Four mussels were not open.
So good!!!! Clam chowder and seafood tacos are amazing.
The biggest slab of fish I have ever seen on my fish and chips, absolutely delicious, and they have Root Beer!
Really good had fish and chips and tacos
If you have celiac disease or gluten sensitivities, go here!!! Their entire fryer system is gluten free- the only thing that isn t GF is their pasta. My friend is Celiac and she was over the moon when she realized she could pick almost anything on the menu. We shared 3 apps and each had a main dish. The server even put my fries in a bowl on the side so they didn t touch my sandwich (I had a clubhouse with regular bread); so I could share them with my friend. I wish I remembered our server s name, but she was amazing either way. We will be back the next time we visit PEI :) Dietary restrictions: Entire menu has the Gluten Free option, aside from Pastas. Although neither of us were vegetarian, we understood almost any item could be made vegetarian as well.
Great food, and the service was super fast. Highly recommend Food : 5/5
great spot for our first meal in town. Great friendly service. Sat inside as music outdoors would not have allowed for conversation at table. nice selection of local beers. Bruschetta was excellent, even converted one of our children with this dish. Really enjoyed our meal. would recommend
Horrible staff attitude, especially towards women. I have rarely felt so disrespected. I wasn t even given a final bill but after waiting patiently through personal chats after last call 20mins long. I was told unceremoniously, that s $20 (for the final pint). I like to tip well and give lots of love in reviews but won t be back after being treated so terribly. Worst experience of 2024 and top ten worst experiences of the lest 3 decades. Don t come here. Bad food met by nightmare service.
It took a little while to get food, but the staff were amazing & attentive. Food and drinks were excellent
By far the best Mussels I have ever had!!! The Spicy version. Not sure what it s called but amazing!!! The island Red ale is delicious!!!
Great atmosphere on the outdoor patio. Live music. The regular Thursday night performer draws a huge crowd, and no reservations are taken. Something to be aware of. Food was good. We had the calamari, Sriracha wings (spicy), and bacon-wrapped scallops. Price-wise, 3 apps, 4 salads, 4 glasses of wine was just over $200.
Very poor service, no smile from the staff not to mention the food, my chicken on bun burger arrived full of tirace. Never go back there
We loved the pulled pork tacos and beet salad. Fish and chips was good. Nice light batter on the fish, but I m guessing the fries were just plain frozen fries.
Fish and chips and bruschetta were 10/10...great food and service!
Went for dinner. Chowder was okay, very creamy and thick, enough to split with a few people. Service was bad, our waitress was not friendly, didn t check on us, seemed to have a bad attitude with not only our table but others as well. I ve never written a Google review before but this caught me extremely off guard. Disappointed and decided not to eat anything else after that.
Place was packed but had our food fast and delicious.. Excellent Poutine...
Food was disgusting. I ordered the chicken pesto but was given cold pasta which tasted awful. I also ordered a burger which was served burnt. I had to ask for a salt shaker and was given an empty one. When I asked for another salt shaker I was given another empty one. Staff were nice but I feel bad for them having to deal with the poor management. Prices were also a lot for what I was given. Overall I think the management needs to wake up and maybe do something for once?
Great food, terrific service. Location is right in the heart of the action. Band playing across the street
Best gluten free battered haddock I ve ever had. Also great bun, not dry at all! Really appreciated the dedicated gluten free fryer and the waitress knowledge on cross contamination. Would recommend if you re looking for a filling meal and some great music.
Had a great meal that included jalapeno dip, seafood chowder and a really great summer salad. Dietary restrictions: Great options for a variety of dietary restrictions.
In a word fantastic . Steak cooked perfectly to order. Seafood tacos (steamed not fried) were excellent. Limited wine selection but quite good and 20 beer taps. We especially liked that the pub food menu was filled with over fried foods and the portions agreed with our we ve been on vacation two weeks already and want to eat out sanely kick. Highly recommend this place. Now I need to look up Canada s prohibition history as the restaurant pays homage to that era. As an American visitor I m woefully uneducated.
Good bar food.
Loved it! Good food, beer and service.
Good value for money, nice patio and the food was great
Very long wait for waiter (kai)and food tasted awful . She didn t even ask my daughter what she wanted to eat and my glass broke in my hand I usually don t get mad a fast food I understand that it s not their fault but this time it was. Don t go here saving you the disappointment. Also the clothes the waitress were wearing were tight and short I don t want my daughter to see that.NOT EXPECTABLE
Nice place for lunch
Excellent restaurant pub, consistently good food, drink and service. I really enjoy the sidewalk patio on a pedestrian only street.
Great food, great beverages, the music across the street was a wonderful addition to our experience,
The Atmosphere and service is good, however the food is bad. It is a place to have drinks and that s it. I tried the nachos and the seafood pasta. It was really bad, not tasty at all.
One steak cooked perfectly the other cooked way too much. Steak was a bit chewy too. Everything else we had was on point.
Great service and yummy food. The drinks delish. Huge open windows overlooking the patio on a closed road with live entertainment. Fun evening downtown Charlottetown PEI.
The wait staff was amazing. The greeting was friendly, and our server was wonderful. The food was terrible at best. I had the haddock, and there was no flavor what so ever. The sun-dried pesto sauce was nice, but the fish itself was bland Kid-friendliness: Burger was way too spicy for a child
The patio at John Browns is great with the weather warming up. The outdoor heaters are nice. Unfortunately, the food was just so so. The wings were very very tiny and were $18 for 9 of them. The nachos were only okay but more cheese would bring them up to par. Disappointing, unfortunately. Service was great and as I said atmosphere was really nice.
One of the better lobster rolls on the island. That a beer called Shitts and Giggles. Excellent suggestion. Thank you
Good food and atmosphere. Good selection of beers. Good
Great location and atmosphere.
Both kinds of poutine they serve were excellent; 1 was a beef tenderloin tip poutine, the other a sweet potato poutine. Id confidently recommend either of them. Unique and delicious. The kitchen had a little trouble with our order, but the manager, Jeff, came to speak with us and explain the issue and apologized, and went out of his way to correct it. He comped our meal, then took the time to chat with us and told us he wants his customers to leave happy, and hopefully return, then to our surprise gave us each a gift certificate. This really made our day and made us feel appreciated, and we will most certainly return. Thank you Jeff. Our server was also lovely and apologetic. Really turned into a great experience.
This place is very terrible, the blonde or rather brunettelady, who is a little bit chubby with an average height is very racist, this is a very racist establishment , its not good for black and brown people. Top hat to the male server, he kept his composure though regardless of the negative attitude from other employees.
Service was awful, ordered drinks, 15 minutes later, ordered food, 15 minutes later food comes, no drinks.... get it together
Love this place. We come every year.
Nice location, open during the off-season. Friendly staff, I was lucky to have a booth Food
Not gluten free for celiac that s for sure. Third time sick from here!
A nice place to spend a good time (especially a hockey game)
Great food and a nice atmosphere
servers are lovely. great beer!
The quality of the food was excellent, but the quality of the service was not good, we ordered fish & chips and burger. Burger was fine but instead of fish and chips they gave us a fish sandwich, we thought it comes in the shape of sandwich but it was not fish and chips, and we were totally fine we took the sandwich but nobody said sorry and they acted the way that nothing happened, but they gave us the wrong food, and when they found out that they gave us the wrong food nobody did explain what happened and no apology.
This has always been a go to when visiting the island, unfortunately the last few times service has been terrible. When we arrived this evening, we were told no tables were available inside, as we waited by the bar multiple people were seated who came after us, we waited 30 minutes.. We decided to leave and sadly we will not be returning.
We went for 1/2 price mussels and thought it was amazing. To the surprise for the pub fare atmosphere the food was really good. I enjoyed the chefs procetta cream sauce for the mussels the most and the dill tar tar sauce for the fish and chips. Everything came fast and hot. I was very pleased. You cant go wrong with 1/2 price mussels. The bread that comes with it was good too. A lot better than I expected.
Good food and service. Wish there was more seafood on the menu.
Worst burger iv ever had server was excellent beautiful building good music the food was terrible Parking: Hhhhhhhhhh
Great service, cooked exactly medium rare, and a good selection of beers
Love this place. Lots of beer tap options, friendly staff. We go for the great 1/2 price mussels between 2:00- 4:00. Good portions and the flavours are great. Fries are tasty too.
Great food, service and entertainment.
Went out with some friends, spent a couple hundred dollars in a night, paid for coat check and at the end of the night they gave my coat away, stating they werent responsible for the item in care of the service that was paid for. No reply from management about the incident.
Always great food, no matter what you order!
Dinner was fantastic. But even better was the personalized attention and service of the manager Jarod. Simply wonderful!! Thanks so much!
I ordered braised beef and got beef dip. I was wondering about the little portion but when I got my bill I saw I got beef dip instead of braised beef and acknowledged that to the waitress but she just apologized and did nothing about it.
Great food was served by pleasant servers. Its right downtown close to all the shows and hotels.
Service was fantastic, the food was delicious and the atmosphere was amazing! Highly recommend! Salmon with beet salad and veg was cooked to perfection.
Excellent food - really delicious. My only criticism is the decor....we sat on the second level and I had a bare lightbulb shining in my face the entire meal. Definitely due for a decor refresh!
Attendants were welcoming
Jarrod was amazing! Good food, good beer, great service.
All Ive got to say is... *chefs kiss* The bowl of chowder was a huge portion and was rich and hearty. The seafood pasta had great ingredients, steak bites were perfectly cooked and the pretzel bites was like the cherry on top! Service from the bar was prompt in food and drinks, and the drinks were flowing well! Highly recommend for a stop in if youre visiting Charlottetown !
Went for lunch, service was fast and friendly
Another excellent experience at JBs. As must when downtown Charlottetown.
The staff are absolutely fantastic, you can tell they enjoy being there. You have to get the Nashville Fried Chicken Sandwich, its fantastic.
Delicious food especially steak bits are too yummy
Had a great evening after stumbling upon this place. The servers were great and very accommodating. Having dairy allergies and being vegetarian I had a wonderful meal and to top it off, they even had a dairy free dessert ! The brownie was delicious. Highly recommend.
Food was awesome and great vibes. Our server was Megan she was very helpful for any information we asked about the city due to being from put of town #vanlifer Hands down a great restaurant all way around.
Perfect place to go if you are Celiac. Amazing food. Great service.
Perfect dinner, especially when we went to the Hunter restaurant recommended by a friend just after the plane landed, and they didnt let us in. Came to this lively and delicious restaurant. The staff are very welcoming. The staff helped me choose a very weak beer suitable for ladies. I am very happy with my beer alas. Serve with seafood pasta and seafood tacos. Very satisfied listening to music and drinking wine. The first day of our PEI trip ended perfectly.
Outstanding spot! The service was incredible; everyone was attentive and friendly. Food was great. Ambiance was fantastic. Highly recommend!
Not the yellow of the egg!!!!
Get the sweet potato poutine. You won t be sorry!
Stopped in for a quick bite to eat before heading to the airport to catch my flight home. Great patio with no vehicle traffic. Half priced PEI mussels from 2 to 4 was delicious. I would definitely go back
A great casual location for dinner and beer/wine. We tried several dishes and various local beers or wines - all were excellent. We sat at a window table, open to the street, so got to enjoy the street life of the city. Food
Good food, great service
Large beautiful terrace, very fast service! Excellent beer! Crispy nachos
Always a great place to eat. My favorite poutine in the island. And the burgers are really good as well
We went in the afternoon. Staff were great, location and atmosphere were great as well. They are in desperate need of a chef. Food was a let down at best. This place has most of the ingredients to be great.
Cool place, delicious food and great.service!
The tomato soup was good. The nachos and the hummus plate were so/so.
My wife and I just had our 2nd anniversary dinner here and we loved it! I had scallops, she had the haddock. It was all amazing. One of the many friendly staff members took our picture with dinners presented. Highly recommended! Food : 5/5
Great service, great food, and great beer selection! The atmosphere was nice, service was both friendly and timely, the food was tasty and came in a very fair portion size. Price for quality is very appropriate! I would recommend stopping in if youre looking for a nice patio in downtown Charlottetown!
Fantastic. Great rotating craft beer selection.
A delicious find on historical Victoria Row in downtown Charlottetown! The food was great and the service was even better.
The best steak I ve ever had! The food was amazing and the server was awesome I can t recommend this restaurant enough to anybody visiting Charlottetown!
Great food, great service!
This is the first time I have not tipped a server. But we were made to feel like criminals, during my daughters birthday outing, for dumping some fruit punch crystal light powder into my daughter and her friends water. They said they could loose their liqour license? It made no sense.
Lovely dinner and people watching on the Row is so much fun
Buddha bowl, poutine & beef and seafood pasta - all delicious and service was attentive and friendly. Highly recommend
Food was great
Excellent Fish and Chips.
Had drinks with coworkers after work on a Friday. We split the southwest nachos (as we usually do), Its a great portion size for sharing. The music on the TD stage was great, even though it rained I cant complain. The atmosphere is great the staff are wonderful, even offering us a sample of whats on tap so we know we are going to enjoy what we order. This place is definitely a staple spot for lunch or after work drinks for us.
They always have live performances on the stage opposite the store, so I was able to enjoy the atmosphere. The atmosphere of the shop and the customer service are very good.
Great environment loved the decor of this restaurant
Just excellent!
Great choices for cocktails!
The server was nice and I feel bad she had to take our Calamari back. That said what is the restaurant thinking? We love this island and have had great experiences across the board including culinary but this was a joke. The beer and wine was fine and the beet salad was good albeit a little pricey for its size but the Calamari I can t even lol Check the two pics first is what the tried serving us with no dip, lemon or anything. We did not have a bite. The second is what typical calamari for the price looks like. Seriously, if you can t make a dish up to par, don t have it on the menu. Shame that we picked this place and others were open. This was kinda a night killer but whatever I hope they use this review to get better or remove this item from their menu. Oh yeah once again we did not take one bite of that plate lol.
Very busy. Didnt have alcohol free beer. Staff were rushing to greet and help all customers
Good food, great customer service. Had the fish tacos with beet salad which was very good. Nice patio as well.
Lovely meal with sisters last evening. ALL staff friendly and helpful. Menu choices were numerous and served all us. I would recommend Dietary restrictions: Many choices including gluten free!
John Browns seem to have went down in the quality of food served. Seafood Chowder missing seafood. Nauchios more like chips with a bit of cheese, and hamburger but definitely not what nauchios should be. Has John Browns changed Ownership in the last two years....is it now the Murphy chain....
Didnt have any food. But you have to try the shaft. ..... Its a delicious drink.
Good location on Victoria row that we stopped in for some lite bites and beverages. Ambiance and service was good but food was very poor. JB Nachos were over cooked and I needed a chisel to eat them. Other tables did seem to have this issue as their nacho cheese was melted and not hardened up. The wings were also from miniature chickens and certainly didn t seem like a pound. Also over cooked. Complained and bill was reduced. I d rather have good food. Just seems hit and miss here for us. Béer was good at least.
One of the best restaurants in Charlottetown. We eat here occasionally and what we appreciate is the consistency of the food quality. We know in advance that we are going to get good food. Their steak sandwich is always good.
Good place for a drink but terrible for eating. We came since the reviews of the restaurant are great. Surprisingly, they couldnt even do a burger patty well. They served me dry, overcooked coals that tasted like bitter wood chips. I complained to the waitress about the burger. She just told me the patties should be cooked through. I have nothing to say. Never go again.
Great food, great experience!
Quality place as always
Delicious food and great for gluten free. Dedicated gluten free fryers! Dietary restrictions: Almost anything can be made gluten free
My recent visit to John Brown Grill left me quite satisfied. The friendly presence of our server, complete with a welcoming moustache, set a comfortable tone for the evening. The restaurant offered a range of familiar pub fare, with the wings standing out as a particularly enjoyable choice. It was also refreshing to find an ample selection of gluten-free options available. The variety of beers added to the overall dining experience, and the jazz quartet of young musicians playing standards added a delightful touch. The portions were generous, ensuring that no one left the table hungry. All in all, John Brown Grill provides a pleasant dining experience with its combination of good food, accommodating options, and enjoyable atmosphere. Dietary restrictions: Many gluten free options.
Super nice restaurant to have a good meal and spend the night out, we went in summer time, right next to there is a stage where bands and groups around the region play music till 10 pm, delicious food, best seafood chowder
A great atmosphere. Although we visited during the lunch rush we were able to get a table. We enjoyed hummus as an appetizer which was good. Our main courses did take a little whole to arrive but again I think it may have been due to the number of customers. When the food did arrive, it was great. Sadly, due to parking running out I couldnt try their desert menu.
Great little restaurant located downtown Charlottetown, PEI. The service was friendly and the food arrived quickly. Everything was delicious.
Adorable little spot! When we went it was raining and there was only outside seating, the staff made incredible effort to get us out of the rain which was really nice. Food was pretty great especially for how low key the spot is. It is located right beside a little stage where local bands tend to play jazz. Adds to the aura of the place. Highly recommended.
Delicious burger
We were on vacation and stopped off at Charlottetown for a half-day around the Confederation Landing park. We wanted a nice place to have pub-like food. We stumbled upon John Browne Grille and are very happy that we did. We were 3 adults and 3 children. The menu had anything and everything you would expect. The food quality was great and the price is what is expected in the area for that quality food. The young lady serving us was very cordial and friendly. The atmosphere is as a pub should be with indoor and outdoor seating (summers day). We had a fantastic time and we will return to this restaurant on our next vacation stay in PEI. Thank you team.
Good if you dont mind the spend. Craft beer was solid, maple-bacon-scallops were cute, and heirloom tomato salad was refreshing. Attentive, friendly service despite being busy.
Enjoyed half price happy hour mussels. Food was hot and service quick.
Overall, the food was good! Was a little disappointed in the lobster roll. Cost $29 and usually a lobster roll come a buttered roll, but it came on a hamburger bun and was very under seasoned and no flavor. The fish taco was good, and so was the mussle. Probably wouldnt or the lobster roll if I go back again!
Oysters didnt look or taste good, but the fish and pulled-pork tacos were excellent. Would benefit from a better beer selection.
Fantastic food with tons of gluten free options. Good portions, and high quality ingredients. Got the fish and chips and it was a very sizable and thick piece of fish. The seafood chowder was excellent and highly reccomended. Nashville hot chicken is also very decent. The desserts were all excellent, though one nitpick, the whipped cream is super fake and oil based, it is odd that they put so much work into excellent desserts to not put real whipped cream on it. I would highly reccomend the sticky toffee pudding or one of the daily pies. (The pie is the only non gluten free dessert though) Staff are friendly and environment is cool with live music. Good beer selection. Dietary restrictions: Basically the entire menu is gluten free. Parking: Fine in the off season, but I imagine very hard to find parking in busy season.
We recently had the pleasure of dining at John Brown Richmond Street Grill. Amazing food, delicious drinks and welcoming staff. Could not ask for more. Highly recommend.
I keep calling and calling to inquire details about the place. How does a restaurant not pick up their phone ever...
Stopped in to enjoy a veggie burger and non-alcoholic beverage. Service was fast and friendly. The food was great. The establishment is fantastic. Food : 5/5 |
Went twice within a couple days. Everything was fine. Ordered fish and chips the first time, they were pretty good. I appreciated that they were gluten-free. The second time I had the poutine with the beef tenderloin on top. It was amazing! The sauce wasn t just the typical poutine sauce, it was a mushroom sauce with a ton of flavour! I highly recommend this dish! Dietary restrictions: They had several gluten-free options on the menu. I can t speak to them all, but I appreciate that it was more than just salad.
Great food, excellent service top quality all around. Also a great selection.
We enjoyed a staff lunch with amazing food and service. Everyone enjoyed their meal.
So far, one of my best places in Charlottetown. I had the wine and garlic mussels and the bacon/maple scallops. Drank an excellent local Upstreet beer. Worth of mention I went in there on a late Wednesday evening with no expectations. Nice greetings, sound advice for a poor lonely tourist. Late hours of closing gives bonus points. One word. FANTASTIC.
Great service and quick service. Especially that we were able to taste the cider before ordering.
Seafood pasta, taste is very good, btw, mussels very very small, may be not the right season to eat, waitress said, June is better
Food was good no complaints over here
Charlottetown cruise day trip. There was an unknown drink to try in advance, which I thought was very good. Wheelchair accessibility: Its possible because its at ground level.
Food and service was great as always
Our 5 year old is celiac, and they have a very big gluten-free menu. We have been there 3 times now and have loved it every time, the only reason its getting a 3 star for food is my burger has been very over cooked the last 2 times, other then that the wings are amazing and the chicken burger was tasty. Highly recommend. Dietary restrictions: Big gluten free menu
Nice place ,friendly staff, good drinks ,
Way over priced, Tenderloin-Taco-Ceaser Salad and a glass of wine over $100 Tenderloin is burnt, food was cold, $15 for a ceaser sald was overpriced!!! The wait time for the food was 45min and restaurant wasnt busy. Not sure we would go back here again. Disapointed to say the least!!
The venue is the highlight of this establishment as the décor is inviting and the street performances just beyond the patio provide good entertainment. The service was reasonable although my meal was a little bland and overpriced for the portion size (John Browns Burger).
2022-08-24-/ - Still giving them 5 stars after one year enjoying this place. Highly recommend! 2021-09-13 - It is always a great experience. One of my favourite places in town. Food is good, and staff is amazing - even when it is crazy busy there.
We picked this rest based off a map at out hotel. The food was very good and our waitress was very friendly
Ive eaten at this restaurant several times in the past two summers. I have had very good experiences each time. They are very busy, especially in the evenings but the staff have always been friendly and food good! Keep up the good work!
Good Pub fare, great atmosphere and location. However, dont get the fried chicken sandwich. Its not southern, and theres not much chicken hiding in the crust.
Nice ambiance, savory, mid range prices Kid-friendliness: Kids menu
3 stars only because the rest of the table seemed content with their meals. Content, not overly satisfied. My fish on the other hand was very very crispy and too battered, IMO. I didn t finish it. Should ve asked for something else, but didn t want to wait for it
Drinks were fine. Service was slow. The reason we are giving a 1 star worst dessert we ve had in our lives. Do not order the sticky date pudding. It was drowning in a bowl of greasy caramel and was extremely dry. You can make it better at home with your eyes closed.
The ambiance outside the restaurant on the patio looked amazing, thus the reason we could not get a table outside. Unfortunately, we were regulated to the inside. It wasn t all bad because the Jays game was on. Being that we were out East we wanted to sample the chowder. When it came out it was lukewarm, thick, and full of potatoes (I know I was in P.E.I. but the number of potatoes was overwhelming). The flavour was not bad, but there was absolutely no seafood to be found other than the 2 muscles it was topped with. If there was seafood it was pureed. Every spoon full was a mouthful of potatoes. In all fairness the waitress offered to replace it, I just wasn t in the mood for fish flavoured potato soup! The chowder on the East coat is the best, unfortunately that was not the case at the John Brown Richmond Street Grille.
Visiting PEI for the first time. Came here two nights in a row! Great food, staff and atmosphere. Can totally see why this place is so busy. Loved the street party too. What a spot!
Bands are great
Great food and wonderful service.
Fabulous food and great atmosphere
A staff member from the Charlottetown Inn highly recommended this place and it was excellent. Had the seared haddock, scallops and tenderloin tip poutine. The live band was the icing on the cake.
We called into John Browns Grill for a meal and some drinks. There was a good range of beers on tap and the food we had was excellent. The staff were most helpful and attentive, no complaints from us.
Nice waitresse, very sweet, also food is decent and comforting. Some of their beer is made with blueberries from the region which is very unique. The inside is very well decorated , and go this rustic but modern old school pub look. The crowd is mixed, I saw younger people, older ones , and even a mother and her baby; the staff played with the child. Also, when you ask question the waiters know what theyre talking about.
Food was good, drinks were good (when we got them). We were never offered water, everyones food came out about 10-15 mins apart for each other, as I was eating my entree (which was cold), my husband was eating his main course (which was also cold). We had multiple servers and it seemed a bother to each when we asked for another drink, or where our food was. For apps, drinks, and a main course we were there for about 3 hours and we ordered as soon as we got there and left as soon as we finished eating. Wouldnt recommend as this is not my first time having poor customer service at this location.
We went here for out 7th anniversary. Its was amazing. My husband had the beef tip poutine and it was the nest poutine we ever had! The beef was tender and flavorful, and generous amount of cheese curds were used, and it was topped with the best poutine gravy we ever tasted. I had the beef tenderloin with garlic mashed potatoes and sweet carrots. The tenderloin was cooked a perfect medium rare with a wine reduction and the carrots were so good I ate them first! With the meal we had Open Riesling-Gewürztraminer from the Niagara Peninsula in Canada its was refreshing a perfect pairing. To finish our meal we had the Turtle Cheesecake and it was the perfect finish! Light and airy with caramel and walnuts. We will definitely be going back!
Excellent mussels and hummus dip. Great beer selection.
This place has come a long way since being the Globe lol. Great food and prices, nice seating outside as well as in. Live music and great beer on tap.
Wonderful pub - sat at the bar and watched football while chatting with the manager. Excellent service, great food and a good selection of local beers. I highly recommend the steak tips!
Ate here last week. Restaurant was busy but not full. We (couple) were shown to the worst table in the house, when several other better tables were available. Both ordered the steak sandwich. The bread to make the sandwich was a thin piece of baguette bread...thats it. I ordered mine with no onions...lots of onions. The steak was decent...but was not a sandwich. Both of our salads were substandard, as the lettuce was browning and limp. For the cost, we likely wont come again.
A can t miss restaurant when in Charlottetown. Servers are very nice and friendly and the food is incredible. Mussels with goat cheese and spinach is incredible. Drinks on the patio listening to live music at John Brown s is an experience not to be missed when visiting Charlottetown
Had a great experience! Amazing food and lovely staff. The tap list for local craft beers is also amazing!
High end price. Low end food
