39 Eden St #5, Charlottetown, PE C1A 4N4, Canada
Unassuming locale with a modest interior serving homestyle Indian recipes with a global influence.
A Taste of Home in Charlottetown! During our tour in Charlottetown, PEI, my wife and I struggled to find food that suited our taste, as we’re not used to international flavors. Fortunately, we discovered Himalayan Indian Cuisine, and it was a true lifesaver! The food tasted just like home, bringing us comfort in an unfamiliar place. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, making the experience even more enjoyable. If you're looking for authentic, hometown-style flavors, Himalayan is the place to go. Highly recommended!
You should not call this Biriyani….should call this chicken fried rice ….not even close to biriyani ….send ur chef to India and make him learn some recepies there
The customer service was good but it takes nearly 30 minutes to serve the Momos. we were told the momos were being made but when it came it was two days old stale ones. We can smell the bad smell, while there was excessive amount of turmeric inside with a stale cutney. Dont serve these type of stale momos to everyone.
Really amazing food! The server was very nice and the kitchen was so friendly. Food came fast and the vibe is friendly. Chicken Saag was so yummy and the Garlic cheesy bread is very cheesy!
As a regular customer at Himalayan Cuisine in Charlottetown, wasn’t pleasing to experience such a cruelty. For Mother’s Day I ordered what I usually order, chicken dumplings (with other dishes) around 11:28pm May 12th, 2024. As my family and I were eating, the moment I took the second peace of the dumpling, chewed on a piece hard glass (it was a big one). I spat it out instantly so it wouldn’t cause me any harms. I’d suggest the restaurant to get better food handling system and I advise everyone one to be careful when eating here (anywhere)
Himalayan Indian restaurant which is open till late hours in Charlotte town PEI. As we reached late, this was one of the few restaurants which was open till late. Good place to find vegan vegetarian food with friendly service. They serve rice or naan with each mains and the food is very reasonably priced. Great value for money. Freshly prepared food and accommodating staff.
I am a Google Local Guide and this is one of the best Indian restaurants I have EVER been to. The food was exceptional: flavourful, perfect spice levels (i.e. really hot if you order it hot), fresh plentiful chicken, and authentic. And as for the naans, wow, probably the best naans we have ever eaten. They are both crispy and chewy at the same time, how do they do that?! The samosas are all filling and less pastry, wonderful. Such good value too: around $14 for a curry and either rice or naan. All the food came at the right time, our order was accurate, and the food was piping hot. The service was excellent too. The place lacks atmosphere and it's in a strip mall but the food makes up for it in every way. We would almost drive from Halifax for this food! Take a look at the pics ... simply superb.
The food was tasty and prepared as suggested. If you are craving for plain Indian food this is the place. They had nice chicken momo and have nice service and decent sitting area.We tried chicken curry, mix veg and it tasted good.We were tourist there and tried this restaurant based on the reviews and it worked well for us
Please Improve your food, ordered chicken tikka masala. awful experience last time tried chicken curry it was not worth it too. Food quality not good at all based on price. Never eating anything from here.
One of my favourite Indian restaurants in Charlottetown! Absolutely worth the visit. #ICS
Love the cheese naan here! #ICS
Good food !!. Too bad there wasnt much halal option but the vegetarian food balanced it out.
I love their mango lassi , lovely service and in time #ics
Himalayan Cuisine is the place to go to for Mid night cravings and the best butter chicken in town. #ICS
The food is superb especially the butter chicken #ICS
I wish i could give zero for service. Awful service here. We were waiting to order for more than 20 mins the server didnt even bother to look at us or ask us if were ready to order. There was literally nobody else in the restaurant. She just kept standing there at the counter, ignoring. This has happened more than once with the same server and Im never coming back to this place. Get some training servers or else you wont get anymore customers.
Oh no, that s disappointing! Naan should definitely be soft, flavorful, and have all the promised toppings, especially when it s something as classic as butter naan and garlic naan. It s frustrating to expect quality and get rubbery bread instead. That s really unprofessional of the staff. Laughing at a customer s feedback, especially when you re being so reasonable about it, is unacceptable. It s one thing for the food to fall short, but respectful and attentive service should be the bare minimum. Hopefully, they take your feedback seriously in the future. Thank you for sharing it s experiences like these that really highlight which places value their customers and which don t.
Vegetarian options: Plenty of vegetarian options Food
Still the best vindaloo I have had!
The chilli chicken was cooked in tomato ketchup. We did not like the food at all.
I had really bad experience with this restaurant. I moved from Brampton on the same night I ordered chicken madras and 4 butter naans. It was worst experience. Naans were so hard. I threw them because it was really hard to chew them.
Excellent dine in experience in Charlottetown. Best Indian and Nepalese cuisines in PEI. Very friendly staffs and sound atmosphere. Highly recommended.
Good Food.
Customer service was very poor! Our biriyani and lamb curry was very salty. We pointed out the issue, server didn t apologized and the table service wasn t proper. Will never go to this place in future!!!
the food was amazing and the service too! the butter chicken, chicken labdar and chicken saag were delicous
The waiter over here is so disrespectful with the customer you can t deal with them.
Very poor customer service The server was misbehaving and showing inappropriate attitude I recommend no one should visit there Food : 1/5
24th april, 2024. 11.30pm. Whoever girl is server at that time. Doesn t know how to talk to customers. Called cops after we asked for 2nd beer. I wonder How stupid can someone be like her. Suggestion to the business owner to hire someone who knows how to deal with the customers and not to get high on their ego trip.
Worst service ever experienced.
Dishonest server. Very bad in service. Rude, girl serving is arrogant she had argument with us. She asked us to leave after asking us to pay $23. We just ate chicken pakoras and 1 beer. When we asked for the bill then suddenly it became $17. I wonder how she has passed the minimum qualifications when she is unable to charge the ammount as the menu shows.
Called to place an order at 12:11am. They said they are not taking anymore orders. Its mentioned that the store is open till 1am. It is really confusing.
Excellent Garlic Naans and Butter Chicken. My favourite in Charlottetown. Dining room isn t fancy, but the food is always great. Take out is also an excellent option.
Horrible Service by the server on shift at 4pm. Did not come to check on our table AT ALL. Did not take our empty plates and dishes. Did not give us water. There were two other tables with us, they did not clear their tables with their empty dishes. The two servers were busy talking. I am a regular customer here, I shouldn t be having to deal with this kind of bad customer service. I legit had to get up and go and ask for water and my friend had to go and ask for a takeout box. Did not attend our table not even once to check up on us. The window curtains fell off, they just laughed and did not even care. What the heck is this customer service? Did not even come to check on us if we were okay or if we got hit by the curtains or not. Did not even come to ask us if we wanted the curtains up or not. I m done being a regular costumer here. Horrible horrible customer service ever.
Himalayn is my go to restaurant in the town. I love their Butter Chicken with cheese naan. My usual order is Chana Masala with cheese naan. They also have costumized curries such as vegan, gluton free, vegetarian. Chef Bijay and binamra are an expert in naan making. Head chefs are awlays the best. Thank you for your service :))
I first time tried its veg briyani it taste really so bad and the thing they mentioned briyani with raita as compared to quantity of rice they even didn t give raita quantity raita quantity is just in small cups to eat with briyani
Our second favourite restaurants on the island. The food is always amazing. Has gluten-free options. One of the only places around to get actually spicy food. A treasure.
Misbehaving staff , just canceled order, misbehaving, Nonprofessional behaviour, zero star for non professionals who just don t know meaning of proper hygiene, and rude, inappropriate behaviour of staff
The Eden Street Charlottetown Prince Edward Island Himalayan Curry Restaurant is a great and fantastic place to buy meals and the staff is friendly and helpful too
Onion bhaji and Butter chicken is always excellent. Their naan is amazing.
This restaurant opens until late in the evening and has a warm atmosphere with beautiful art work! I always get the butter chicken with chicken mo mo as the appetizer. I finally tried their mango lassi and it did not disappoint, very flavourful with the right texture.
Delicious food. Good portions Vegetarian options: Lots of options Food : 5/5 |
Awesome meal! We had four different curries with rice plus onion bhajis und a mango lassi. Everything was cooked to perfection. Thanks so much to the chef for a wonderful experience! I love Indian food and have eaten it in restaurants all over the world, and this one is definitely one of my favourites. The server was super nice and the atmosphere in the place was really lovely. 5 stars all round!
Great food. Awesome portions. I have only had take-out, and surely if they do my take-out well, the in service would equally be great. Vegetarian options: Plenty of vegetarian options
Worst food in charlottetown, we ordered butter Veg and some naan, it was so hard to chew and the Dish was not well cooked, taste awkward ! I got stomach ache after having Food from this restaurant. I am so sorry but worst experience. Waste of money !
This restaurant has very unprofessional so called servers. I went there to eat some curry and naan. After completing my one naan that I got as a compliment, I wanted to order second naan. I waited for 10-12 minutes at table wondering if they are going to come to the table and ask me if I needed anything else. But, eventually I had to go to reception table to ask for an extra naan. Also, there were people only on 2 tables and they had 2 servers who were just chatting with each other for last 15 minutes. Even though I was looking at them and my plates were empty, both didn t bother to ask me if I needed anything else. They seemed like they had no training about how to give customers hospitality. After I asked for extra naan, she comes back after 5 minutes saying they were out of naan. I wasn t even hungry by that point. And I don t understand how they can be open if they ran out of naan or maybe they were making excuses to not to make a naan. They still had 1.15 hours left until closing time. Overall, I would recommend to give both servers some training about how to do their job. It s just not about serving them once at start and just, keep ignoring customers.
Always enjoy eating there
I highly recommend this nice restaurant. The food is excellent, the cost is low, and the staff are always very nice! The menu is quite large. Vegetarian options: Lots of vegetarian options!
My wife and I love this place, go every few months for a treat. I have had a lot of authentic Indian food -- worked with many from India and been to India on business many times. This is my go-to on the island for Indian cuisine. Consistent and high quality.
Awesome place to eat out at! The prices are amazing and the portions are very good for the price. Vegetarian options are plentiful and the naan is great!
They are very helpful and food is delicious.
They are very nice and kind. I really appreciate them i recommend to others must visit here
Staff is very respectful, Amazing service, served hot food to their customer, vegetable vindalo delicious. Must visit to have yummy dinner.
Their food was very good and they were very nice , much visit ! We were late but they were very polite.
This is not Indian food just made it to look like Indian food. Worst biryani ever, I don t even think it was biryani it was so spicy even after I specifically asked for med spicy and you do not use whole spice in biryani.
Himalayan is one of the longest-running Indian restaurants in town, and for good reason - their quality is consistent, and their service is always prompt and friendly. Their butter sauce is the best around! Vegetarian options: Plenty of vegetarian options available
Food and service is really good
Always excellent food, every time!
From a torontonian, this food slaps
Ordered takeout, Chicken tikka masala was missing flavor and monos were okay. The naan were inedible and had a plastic like texture.
This place is awesome and I love their food. Their chicken curry with rice reminded me of my maternal grandmother because the preparation and the spices had touches of Bengal. I also liked their dessert options and the beautiful Nepali music. I strongly recommend this place
Came here from summerside. Momos are okay. Malai kofta and paneer butter masala have same gravy. Paneer is hard and very rubbery. Very expensive. Prices are Not worth the quality and quantity of food. .
We called two or three time they always said out of roti around 11 clock . I don t know why they re open till 1 am if they can t provide stuff
I usually like chicken curry & lassi from Himalayan cuisine restaurant.
All I have to say is Fantastic !! Firstly, there was just one girl handling the front including taking orders, serving, cleaning, packing orders and she did a fantastic job. We asked for her recommendations based on what we wanted and she was the perfect guide. We ordered Chicken Vindaloo and asked for really hot which the restaurant stood up to. I have eaten Vindaloo several times and as I chef, I would say it was great. Next, we asked for a Paneer based curry which isn t sweet, but not even hot at the same time. We were recommended Paneer Masala and again the taste was good. I personally hate paneer dishes, but happen to like this one. We ordered butter naan and garlic naan which happen to be decent. The garlic on the naan was pretty raw which gave a little pungent taste, and the dough was a little too stretchy, but I would say not bad at all. The plain rice was fresh unlike many other places where the rice is stale. I asked for a beer to drink while waiting for take-out but was denied as I was not dining in. It was a little strange for me but, it is the restaurant s policy and I would not complain. The atmosphere was a little too dark and was difficult for me to take, but everything was clean and great! I don t know the name of the person who helped me on July 2nd, 2023 around 10:00 PM, but a huge thanks to you! Will definitely recommend to everyone!
The food is always excellent here. My favourite is Chicken Tikka masala with rice or Naan. I also love their Mango Lassi. The servers were great and its a nice quiet and calm atmosphere. I highly recommend it.
I ordered naan bread and it was stale even i couldn t bite it. Was really hard to break with hands too.
Food was delicious and the staff was so good and helpful especially sonali and pratiksha
Went to this place with friends for dinner, this place is amazing. Customer service was really good, really friendly girls who served us. Food was so delicious. Best indian food in PEI.
Ordered chicken chakhna and biryani from this place. The appetizer was cold and seemed stale. It was bit too salty. And the biryani didn t even look or taste like biryani. The rice were overcooked. Never going back to this restaurant again. Food
Superb food and excellent service. One of the very best Indian restaurants I have eaten in outside of India and uk.
Very delicious , ended up getting saag mushroom and dal curry Great spot for vegans Food : 5/5
Best Indian restaurant in Atlantic Canada
Simply the best in area. Lots of vegetarian options and the waitress was lovely and greeted and served us with a good food and chefs custom preparation on one of vegetarian dishes that wasnt in the menu.
Super spot
Best curry on PEI! Vegetarian options: Great vegan options! Food : 5/5 |
Food is ok but service just worst... its the first restaurant of life where i was not offered water. Never going to be there again....
Best Indian place ever. God bless you guys!
Great food, great staff. 10/10 would recommend.
They charge 10$ for smosa chat but they give only one smosa thats it . Not good and worth.
I ordered malai kofta there was no malai it was tomoato kofta garbage food
Dietary restrictions: Should be halal options Food
Great food great service great atmosphere. Loved it .
Their food is good but the problem is every time they don t have roti. They just have naan which is disappointing because they have roti in menu but not in service.
The food is always amazing. Butter chicken (medium spicy) with rice and naan is our favorite.
The naan was half cooked fells like chewing forever, no mater what you order almost same gravy . Only daal makhni is good
Was one of my fav go to Indian restaurants until recently when we ordered and got the naan it was extremely uneatable, was almost as if they cooked frozen and microwaved, the actually main course was good, but naan had alot to be desired
Such a ridiculous place to eat. The naans were like rubber... unable to chew it. They are actually down grading the standard of Indian Cuisine. They should work on their kitchen staff.
Such a worst food I had ever eat in my life, Naan was not even able to chew my mouth started paining by eating that. I suggest everyone that please order naan from walmart rather than buying from it. They are much better than this restaurant.
Delicious!! The naan was freshly made and the curries were very tasty. Eat-in available for vaccinated folks. Great food and great service.
Butter chicken was very good
You have to try their Butter Chicken, sizzling Tandoori Chicken with garlic Naan. Trust me you wont regret it. A little expensive but worth the try! Will go back every other week.
Quality and Quantity
Butter chicken is amazing. Chicken mo mo as well if you like dumplins.
Best quantity i have seen so far in pei. Great service. Test wise I ll say it s 3.7.
Fantastic naan bread! So fresh and good. Had momo chicken, chicken vindaloo and chicken kadai - everything was amazing! I recommend this place for sure, and based on how busy they were with takeout orders, I am not alone in loving this place!
The food was amazing and their naan bread was magnificent.
I ordered Channa masala with Naan.Taste of curry was good but Naan was like rubber.
Best curry!
Good food
The food is excellent.
One of our faves in Charlottetown - delicious, authentic food & super fair prices.
One of the best Biryanis that I have ever had
Place was nice. Food was delicious. Yes naan we re tight after 2 hours but yea overall food was good
Kid off day. Enjoy our lunch every day. The curry has always been our favorite, not too spicy, with rice or nang are all delicious, and the dessert is very unique.
I just finished eating Butter Chicken delivered by Door Dash from Himalayan Curry & it was the best Ive ever had and Ive had from many places in Ontario. From the first bite, my mind was blown by the flavor. Need to find out if they sell the sauce by the bottle or gallon.
The food was so good. And they actually added spice when we asked for spicy.
Very small portion and bad customer service..
Loved the food. Especially the Tibetan Chile chicken.
Worse Indian food I have ever had. The reviews are so misleading. We ordered chicken momos, butter chicken, dal, matar paneer, and Naan. First time it has happened with me that everything tasted so bad that we had to throw everything in the garbage. The chicken momos tasted like kebab, naan was very chewy and rubber like, butter chicken tasted like tomato ketchup, dal was undercooked and was very salty. I am sorry but they really need to work on their preparations if they want to cater to people who have tasted real and good Indian food. One star is for the service and patience they had while taking the order over the phone.
Daal, mixed veg curry, also gobi tasted really good. The desserts we tried, rasmalai and gulag jamin were very tasty too. Food cooked more traditional style with less oil, butter
Great food!
Himalayan good. Not Indian food.
Servers have an attitude problem definitely won t listen or talk properly food is decent but won t recommend still. Looking at all these low reviews all related to customer service they should fix it because the food is good but definitely not going here again thanx to the waitress/cashier who thinks she s too good for the job
People working here needs attitude adjustment. . Very bad food but good service but good food and bad service. All in one !
Bad
They serve worse food in the town They are the only food outlet which sells durex naan (rubber).
The food wasn t good at all.
I love it
There is trouble in my stomach....!
We ordered takeout--all vegetarian--and it was absolutely delicious. Our best meal so far in Canada, after four days of traveling through Quebec, New Brunswick, and now PEI.
Amazing food and great service.
Service-AMAZING. Food-UNREAL. I will always recommend the Himalayan. Just so good
Tatti foood
Delicious Indian food. All curries had different flavours so very well understood that they dont share a common base like many other restaurants. Lassi tasted very natural and glad tried both plain and mango. There are only limited seating options. Service was good. Will repeat given a chance. Vegetarian options: Lot of options Parking: Ample space Wheelchair accessibility: Yes, but difficult
Ooo, the smell when you walk in....amazing! Food awesome, staff great, prices good too! Love loved it! Parking: Lots of parking, no problem...
A week after the storm ravaged the island, I was speaking with a friend I had not seen in months and we decided to go out for a bite to eat. We chose the Himalayan as we had never eaten there before. It was perfect. Fast, efficient service. Staff super friendly and attentive. The restaurant was not loud and was a great setting to actually have a conversation and catch up.
Worst garlic nan in the town. It was like eating a ruber tire allo gobi was ok ok and butter paneer pasala was good. Bad experience.
Love the Momos. The spicy sauce is to die for!
Totally disappointed, they even don t know how to talk with their customers and then they argue about the food. It was a trouble experience.
Nepali restaurant with the Nepali food better than the Indian food.
Their food is consistently delicious!!! It was a busy spot for take-out, even on a Wednesday night! Dining in was an extra treat as our food came out in a timely manner and by a friendly server.
Great food great service
Great food. Love this place they never disappoint.
No Comments. I mean don t go there. Worst food.
Its, just, SOOOO good
We ordered butter paneer and chana masala with nan and plain rice. Service was fast and food was hot. Not reallly a big place but exceeded my expectations in terms of food.
Amazing food
Loved it! Great food, great service. The Naan was delicious!
Not reasonable prices for the meals they provide
Can t wait to go back
Very good! A favourite for sure!!
What a gem of a little restaurant in Charlottetown. Top notch service with top notch food. We moved from Brampton area and were missing authentic curry dishes. We went on a Saturday evening , the place is small with limited tables but well worth the wait or make a reservation. They have daily specials. We ordered the chicken korma, tandoori chicken , chicken curry , basmati rich and lots of naan. The Naan is huge ! The mango lhassi is to die for ! So rich. The place is constant flow ! Constant take out orders and this made me happy to see. Lovely place and I will be back frequently to try more dishes. Compliments to the chef !
Zero customer service. Food was so so But employees really need to work on their customers service.
I had evening meal at this restaurant. we ordered shahi paneer and malai kofta .shahi paneer was not good especially paner was tough .overall experience was so so. only malai kofta was good.
Fantastic food! The vindaloo had so much flavor and was a great portion size for the price.
Food tasted okay but portion sizes were small for the price. E.g. the kofta dish came with only 2 kofta balls (havent seen less than 4 of the same size anywhere else). Naans come uncut hence they look big but arent compared to other restaurants.
Great experience.
Amazing food with generous portions.
Great food! Good portions! Great flavors!!
This was very bad experience of mine food was not fresh and the naans were so hard and couldn t eat them . I dont suggest anybody to go there
Good taste.
We ordered 19 naan from this restaurant not even single naan was able to eat its like a rubber and very hard . I was unable to chew it . Moreover i call back to the restaurant and they are making excuses and also their behaviour was not good . I suggest to all of you never go to this restaurant.
i ordered naan from this resturant they were not good in quality i was unable to chew it. i recommend all of you to never go to this resturant
Hi, my experience with himalayan curry restaurant was not good.we were 7 people and I ordered 19 naan but it was very bad, very difficult to chew. When i called the restaurant they were making excuses. My weekend was spoiled .I recommend people to not order naan from here. Thank you.
We orders naan from this restaurant . And the worst experience we have . I came to my frnds house and my jaws are paining because of ur naan and we spent 100 bucks on naan and when we call they r be like giving excuses . I recommend to everyone pls don t eat naan or any stuff .
The staf is not coprative with customer they give the burn naan and when i told its not good they told me that it is not our mistake
It is an average Indian style restaurant
Best cure restaurant in town
