189 Great George St, Charlottetown, PE C1A 4L1, Canada
The Celtic Heart of Charlottetown featuring a wide selection of local and international brews, traditional and contemporary Irish dishes and live music.
Super cute place, especially the booths. Good service. Always get the yummy fish cakes and beans. However the fish cakes have changed in terms of breading and color of cook and I wish they would be more as they were in 2022, 2023. Also bring back the mustard pickle side!
Was there on a Thursday and they had live music, the violinists were incredible!!! Lots of Gluten free options and our server was great!
Fantastic bar with the best food & service! Part of our tour with Atlantic Tours.
A touch of the stone lives here; enjoy the live music, the smiling staff, and the amazingly wide variety of Irish stouts and lagers. For dinner, enjoy the pan-fried haddock and the signature clam chowder. Thoroughly enjoyable experience, will come again!
I visited The Old Triangle today and had a fantastic experience! The ambiance was charming, making it a delightful place to enjoy lunch. I was pleased to see they have some great vegetarian options on the menu. I tried the falafel wrap, and it was absolutely delicious—fresh, flavorful, and perfectly seasoned. The staff were friendly and attentive, adding to the overall positive experience. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a wonderful meal in a cozy setting!
We were waiting for 40 min for Brucheta, wings, and fish cakes! We came with 2 kids and ordered food that should come fast. The beer came in 5 mins, and we were waiting for another 35 mins for the food. If we knew that it would take so long, we would not stay and go to another place. The waiter could have told us that in advance. The wings were Ok. The Brucheta was OK. The fish cake were good, but it come with a weird combination. Not a kids friendly place with menu, atmosphere, and time management.
My friend took me here to try out their food during Christmas eve. However, we didn’t regret to try this old triangle because The food was so delicious. We ordered BBQ CHICKEN BURGER, AND COCOUNT SHRIMPS. We loved it! ❤️ Staff were really friendly and helpful. Christmas decorations were amazing and also, we clicked so many pictures. ( I am still craving for burger and shrimp 😁❤️😭 ) I would love to visit again❤️
Took a friend here for their Sunday afternoon jam so she could experience some Celtic music. We had a really good time with great seats. We shared the bacon wrapped scallops and the spinach dip. The scallops were large and cooked perfectly. My friend ordered the blueberry ale, which she loved. Very attentive waitress and we appreciated that she told us that the spinach dip would take a bit longer and we were asked if we wanted the scallops first or to have them held to come out with the dip. Definitely worth a return trip!
Great Food, but not cheap. Music from 7-9pm on Thursdays is great.
Best wings in Charlottetown!!
Great little pub, fast service and good food. Had the potato skins.
Excellent service and food on the night ...
This is our Go-To place in Charlottetown to take friends and folks from away. We love Sunday afternoon music jam with a few Black &Tan.
Good beer. Even better food. Never left disappointed. They also often have ceilidh style music going. Wheelchair accessibility: Ramp to entrance and can easily navigate the first floor. Bathrooms are quite difficult to access for wheelchairs however.
Great food!!! Live music fairly often as well!
**UPDATED REVIEW**: We used to come here a few times a month because the food was consistently great, the staff was always great, and the experience was always worth the money. Last year we came and had an awful experience. The experience was so bad we stopped going for a full year. Today we decided to try it again because it was our wedding anniversary and we used to love coming here. My wife and I both ordered the Steak n Steak (two 5 oz steaks) rare with colcannon and added mushrooms. The waters took over 10 minutes to come. When the food came out one was missing mushrooms, it happens no big deal quick fix. Then we cut into the steaks and 3 of the 4 steaks were blue and by blue I mean it was barely even cooked. The other steak was medium well. The kitchen demanded my both of my wifes steaks back and then only gave her one steak. I mentioned for a second time that one of mine was blue too after they came back with only one steak. At this point we are frustrated and said we dont want to wait for more to be cooked and since we clearly arent eating our full meals because of improper cooking so we asked for fair compensation which we got after some painful arguing but the problem is we literally said we didnt want to wait and then it took 10-15 minutes for the bill to even come. During this entire ordeal the manager just hid and never came out to see us or talk to us or to apologize. Instead our waitress looks like she is basically in tears being forced to do the managers job. Even though we were extremely frustrated we were still polite about it all. Due to this being our second back to back bad experience and the fact the manager hid and did absolutely nothing during this, we wont be back even though this used to be our favorite restaurant. Its really gone downhill and it is sad to see. Im giving 2 stars because the other food was fine. **INITIAL REVIEW**: We come here whenever we want good delicious comfort food. In my opinion, the price is extremely reasonable for the quality and service. The staff is always super friendly and attentive and we have never had a bad meal here. We just came to have a nice birthday dinner for our son with autism and we were sat in one of the confessional booths. Our kid loves eating here and we generally try to come when it isnt busy so there isnt as much sensory stimulation and we have never thought to ask ahead to be sat at one of these booths. It made a huge difference when it got busy. I believe our servers name was James and he was awesome. We just wanted to say thank you to the Old Triangle Charlottetown team for being awesome.
Huge menu, with many choices. Big drink menu. Server Allie was a sweetheart. I could be a regular here !
Good food. Mashed potatoes with onions and bacon were a game changer for us. Chowder was decent and obviously made in house. Steak was made to our liking. Our waiter was very nice and had good stories.
Would never eat there again. The blackened chicken Caesar salad fit none of those criteria. The chicken was simply boiled chicken breast which still had the stink of rot on it. Probably the worst meal I have ever eaten. I took two bites and my stomach started doing somersault. I threw it away in a bin when I left.
Service was great, but our food was only ok. There were little bits of raw beef in the meatloaf, the mushy peas were really dried out, and the coleslaw tasted like it had been drowned in vinegar. Dont think well return. Wheelchair accessibility: Two ramps, one to the patio and one to the main entrance. Theres a couple of stairs in the center of the restaurant though, before the bar, with no ramp. If you come up the patio ramp you can bypass them.
We enjoyed the live music, 25 pour decisions lol, and the service was friendly and attentive.
We heard about the kitchen party and wanted to experience it. It was pretty fun, but the patrons sometimes drown out the music. It can get quite busy, so best to call andake a reservation. Food and service are both great
Delicious food and amazing service!!
Used to be in my short list of spots for a great lunch or dinner and a pint. Lately, things seem to have slipped. Waited more than 45 min for our meal last weekend... had to eat super fast to make our concert. Quality of food still good (I had Whiskey burger), but prices have gone up steeply. Next to nothing on the menu under $19. Pop had an off flavour and was sent back. Not enough servers working for a summer Saturday night. Would have liked to sit outside on the deck... but it was full of wasps. Needs a bit of a tune up.
The meal was excellent with a great server. Will be going back soon.
fun pub good beer wonderful staff Food : 4/5
Very rustic well loved
We arrived around 9:00 PM after a long travel day. Food was delicious, live music, and our server, Clay, was very attentive and knowledgeable about surrounding area. Would definitely recommend!
We had a wonderful time at the old triangle restaurant. The service was fast and friendly. We were there during the Fiddlers practice. Amazing music, food and entertainment. This will be our go-to restaurant in downtown Charlottetown.
Excellent pub food with a good variety, including many gluten-free options. Friendly staff and patrons. Good live Irish music when they have it.
Was looking for a traditional Pub with a good pint, found it!
Love music, good atmosphere. Good food, generous portions.
Live music was good and we really enjoyed our dinner here.
Really good
The service was excellent! The waiter was kind, quick with our orders, and was very attentive to us. The food was also mouth watery good. I recommend this burger for burger love.
I was looking forward to shepherds pie which I had eaten a few years ago. Unfortunately it was not good, the meat was dry, I. couldnt find any corn, the gravy was served on the side and the mealwas cold.my husband a donair burger, the meat was overcooked and dry and there was very little sauce. It was all around very disappointing
We came to this pub because of reviews, and we were wanting to hear some local music. Not disappointed! The food was great. Our sever Alisha was awesome, and the music was so good!
Food rocks, vibes rock, great time! My friend had the best soup ever
I ordered the burger love. Burger was great. I did not like the cold piece of sausage wrapped in cold bacon stuck on top of the burger.
Love the atmosphere here, the Little North areas are so cute, food and staff wher amazing, burger love definitely a need to try.. and their fries..
I went with my wife last week here ! It was an amazing experience
What a great visit we had. The staff were amazing and food was great. Definitely recommend this place and will be back for sure!
Enjoyed a pint of Guinness and bowl of chowder. Both excellent! Great memories.
Great spot especially for Monday and Tuesday during their half price appetizers special. You can have wings, or a full hummus board ( hummus, vegetables, falafes, and pita), or a big plate of muscles for less than 10 bucks with a drink purchase. On Tuesday, there is 6 dollar Guinness on top of that deal. There is no better deal in town (or anywhere else in the region, for that matter). A dinner and a beer for less than $20! The service is always attentive, and its super popular on St. Pattys day.
My daughter wanted to take in the tunes on a Sunday afternoon. Shes a step dancer and danced a few dancers with the players. It was a great time!
Decent pub spot. Good food, often have live music, and the servers are awesome.
The fish and chips is huge!
Decent food! Live music almost every night and the staff are very nice. A PEI classic!
Spent new years eve there and it was our second time going. Both times the food has been delicious, the service is great and they offer a good variety of beers and local brews. The music was good both times too. Its a nice place to spend some time with your friends or loved ones, eat something good and have a good drink/time.
I live for Guinness Tuesday lol a Guinness and bread pudding is the perfect way to end a Tuesday
I like Bacon scallop, but next time I will pair with the bread instead of rice.
Amazing gluten free selection of food, Lots of space whenever we went in around lunch. Service was very helpful and nice! The price was on the higher side but very worth it. Dietary restrictions: Gluten free selection
First time on prince edward island and I mist say this place as well as most places were just incredible the food the people it was just an awesome experience!
Nice Irish pub. Great menu.
food not applicable, friendly staff, great service, expensive closed at 12 we went In at 10:30 and the live entertainment was packing up there gear, and could barely hear the music they may have been playing. the drinks were good but pricey but our waitress was great
Do NOT sleep on the Old Triangle for a good old fashioned Irish pub experience with the cozy Irish draw, a delicious menu, great brews, and awesome service. Old Triangle never fails to fill my belly with good food and my face with a big ol smile to share with the friends who went with me. Great menu with lots to pick from and everything is so delicious and well made! Definitely recommend any of the Burger Love burgers (Ahem pot of gold burger is banginggg!) and the fries are SO GOOD (regular and sweet tater options, both delicious). One of my recent favs is the Mojo Verde summer salad with steak, a huge platter with romaine, basmati rice, crispy chickpeas, grilled veg (peppers, onion, tomato) and steak (or chicken/shrimp) done to your liking with a delicious verde herb salsa over it. The beverage and alcohol menu is always great with local brews and some fantastic wines available. Live music many night, 1/2 price app deals, and service is always so friendly. Old Triangle is definitely a staple spot for the locals
Great place and lots of gluten free options on the menu! Will definitely go back!!
Vegetarian options: Greek Salad Food
Great beers on tap, great wines. Coconut shrimp is good, and 1/2 price apps on Monday and Tuesday after 4 pm. Great atmosphere and cozy booths.
Great Pub all around! Awesome selection of beers.
Food was fantastic. Chowder was packed with seafood. Also had a great burger.
I am giving them 2* for the burned medium well steak and 5* for the coconut shrimps.
Food and service were good. Chowder was really good. So filling. Definitely only need it as a Main if you go for the bowl Performer was pretty bad. We just wanted him to stop. We didnt have enough alcohol in us at that point
Their attention to food allergies is one of the best in town
Had the grilled pineapple clubhouse on sour dough bread. Delicious experience. Great atmosphere and service.
I think we hit them on an understaffed night.
Bit disappointed waitress didnt give the change so 30$ was a big tip after spending 120$
We were looking for a venue where we could hear some down home music and we sure found it here. About 20 musicians showed up with fiddles, guitars, pipes and drums. Fantastic.
We love a good old fashioned pub, and this is the epitome of such pubs. Great menu, lots of taps and great service. We were there for Sunday brunch and love the Eggs Benedict! We will be back. Food
Enjoyed a great evening here, we enjoyed the music and the food and service were terrific. We were disappointed that the only IPA on tap was Goose island, which is American. There are so many amazing PEI breweries.
Food was great! Service was great !!!! Loved it. Food
I love the Irish coffee. The platter was perfect to share with friends. There was Live-Music which makes good vibes.
Had wings, nachos, food is good and not expensive, service was great, we had to park on the street but it was after 6 so we did not have to plug the meter and there were lots of spaces
the Last time I ate here was for burger love the burger was awful bland and the meat that is meat to be local looked to be a discount pre made frozen patty. The side was tasteless like even with salt had not taste. will not be eating here again because of the bad experience. I emailed the manager after the meal and never heard back. Sadly they used to be really good.
The food was very filling. One entree can fill you to the brim. We made the mistake of ordering appetizers. The food was too salty for me but good. Waitress was very kind and checked on us often. We ordered potato skins which was more nacho form with potato skins and a giant plate full. Then we ordered the steak n steak n colcannon and the Irish stew. The stew came with colcannon and Irish brown bread. I finished everything and am not proud to say that I proceeded to have the worst gas of my life. I think my entire intestine was inflated by the end of the night. My husband loved the food and for the first time in his life could not finish the second steak. I think if I were to go back, I d have to order something smaller and not be so ambitious haha.
Perfect spot for food and drink
Great food, friendly staff.
Charlottetown. Very nice. Nachos were delicious Great father and son singing duo when I was there.
Wheelchair accessibility: Wheel chair ramp Food
Ate outside on the deck. Tables with umbrellas. Friendly staff, good service. Had the burger. It was good, food here is always good. Parking: You can find paid and free parking and there are parking garages...there is one on the other side of the block and one on the side of the opposite block. Time of day will depend on availability and price. Days are harder, lots of people downtown during the day.
My wife and I visited the old triangle on a bike pub crawl they had us in and out within half an hour
Excellent meal and service.
Stopped in for a quick pint of Guiness to learn Tuesday was $6.00 pints of Guiness. They took my allergy seriously and made sure I was safe. Dietary restrictions: Shellfish & mollusk allergy
There are simple taste dishes and friendly staff. Love this place!
Went for a drink and the music. Both were enjoyable.
We took our family here for dinner while on vacation in PEI. The food was mediocre and the live music, although good, was super loud. I had the Maple Curry Chicken Penne which had no taste of maple or curry - the sauce was tomato based. My wife had the salmon flatbread pizza which was good, but they didn t put capers on the pizza despite it showing them on the menu. Our oldest son had a cheeseburger which he really enjoyed however the mashed potatoes with his meal were not very good and he couldn t eat them. Our youngest had the fish and chips off the kids menu which was the best food at the table. Waitress was great and if the food was better it would have been a great experience.
Excellent service, great ambience, good live music and very affordable. Went with a group of 8 and shared 1/2 price apps on a Monday and not a single complaint with any of the food. In fact everything was incredibly good. And compared to our home province of Ontario had a great evening out for literally half of what we would have paid at home. Five drinks and three apps between the two of us and a bill just shy of $70. Yes thats not a typo. Read our bill three times just to make sure our server hadnt missed anything. If we are ever back to PEI this will absolutely be on our list of stops.
Absolutely amazing pub!! Great atmosphere and live music on a Monday evening! The food was great and very good menu. On Mondays and Tuesdays they have 1/2 prices appetizers Service was awesome! Super friendly staff and very accommodating for our group of 8. The live music was incredible!! Jon Matthews is an amazingly talented singer and musician! Highly recommend!!!
nice outside deck,great seafood chowder
Beautiful place with very good Irish music as if we were in Ireland! Affordable menu. / Very nice place with very good Irish music, as if we were in Ireland! Affordable menu.
Great atmosphere, dinner was great Shepard pie and hamburger was delicious. Live music is a bonus. Service was wonderful. Thank you
Dietary restrictions: Gluten free Food
i was visiting from out of town on a vacation and stopped in for some supper, and drove about 40 minutes. I go in with my family and the waitress is nice, i ordered the bruschetta toast and it was okay but extremely dry. I had ordered the caesar salad and they gave me oil with some other thing in it. It was so atrocious. I asked them to take it back and i normally don t do that but it was terrible and they only took off 3$ off my bill for it and i barley touched it. I am so livid and thought they would not charge me for it but they still charged me almost full price. Would never come back here.
We just got to our room after a long flight. Room staff told us about this place. Great food, live music, and fantastic service.
Been here every time I go on vacation.. The best pub In town.... Food
We had to waste time as we had a very delays flight and we informed the server is this, and they were amazing. Food was great, location was in a historic building. Thank you for showing us to stay a little longer than normal
Loved the food. Gluten free selection was great and they were super accommodating.
Perfect! Atmosphere was perfect! Food and ale was perfect! Our server Nicole was perfect! This will be a very regular destination. Live fiddle session Sunday afternoon rounded out an amazing meal.
Sunday brunch with Guinness and Celtic music was great.
Good Irish pub with comfort foods and live music. Cabbage rolls could use a bit more tomato sauce, but still quite tasty and well seasoned with herbs. Colcannon is excellent and highly recommended. Butter chicken is very tasty, more curry tasting then Indian butter chicken but delicous none the less. Steak was well cooked, fish and chip portions are enormous. Desserts are a bit disappointing. Dietary restrictions: Tons of gluten free options, almost everything on the menu. Parking: Ok early in the week, impossible on Fridays or weekends.
Great food and good draught beer. Service was excellent.
Chicken quesidilla with fries. 10 out of 10
Phenomenal pub with great live music!
Went on a Saturday and got seated within minutes, the place had lots of options to choose from and was fairly priced. One main thing is they are a Celiac friendly restaurant, the staff was aware of all the needs of someone with Celiac. Dietary restrictions: Lots of gluten-free options Wheelchair accessibility: Has a ramp
Got to listen to amazing traditional fiddling while enjoying one of the best seafood boils Ive ever had. Cant wait to bring the family over next time Im back
Love this place. Our two waitresses were amazing. Food was excellent
I love Irish pubs, especially ones that do it right. The Guinness was a perfect pour. The seafood boil was an excellent lunch. Server was fast, friendly and attentive.
Great staff! Work holiday party was fantastic perfect room for an event. Bar staff was great downstairs as well.
Cozy pub that is family friendly. Great Gluten-Free options and they take Celiac seriously! Dietary restrictions: Great Gluten-Free options and variety.
Beautiful classic Irish pub. Very warm. And live music
Great service! Great food!
Nice pub, good food, good beer.
Staff was super friendly and the food was really good and affordable.
friggin awful waited for almost 2 hrs for my food with my 4 kids and we were like the only ones there. for someone who works in the restaurant business this is awful and unacceptable. I want to give zero stars
I waited two hours for my food and it wasnt even good. 2 hours and $$ wasted.
great Maritime staff and service and music
Great food, cold drinks and friendly staff.
Great service,. Good food and amazing entertainment with the talented David Woodside performing on our last visit.
We came to hear the music and he didnt disappoint. Played lies if Canadian favorites. Bar had a great selection of drinks. Would return.
Ok food singer was ok nothing special. Waitress was nice
We were very grateful they took us in at 9:40pm for dinner. Unfortunately I wasn t the biggest fan of their food. I thought their shrimp pasta has far too much sauce and their chowder tasted meh. Their fried shrimp and service was great though.
Love everything about this restaurant/pub. Food amount is generous and delicious. I particularly enjoyed the music as well. You cannot go wrong with their numerous food choices.
Food was dripping with grease, didnt really have any flavor. Wont be going back.
Great area to eat outside. Great food as well.
Friendly staff, great atmosphere, quality food.
Really good Burger!! (Pot of gold burger) Very clean and friendly waitresses.
So good we went back the next day.
We had a very nice dinner in this restaurant. This pub has a very large beer selection and offers typical pub food. We both had a burger. The staff is friendly and helpful and can explain the different beers well.
I d say this place should be around a 4.5 star. I had the burger with sweet potato fries. Burger was great, fries were good, and curry dip for the fries was lovely. One of the best meals I had in PEI. Also, the server was very friendly, so that s a bonus. All this at a reasonable price, would highly recommend
There was a really nice live music. And the food and the beer was very good
I had three different beers and they were all skunky.
Very good food
Ran out of what I came here for but so many other options. Love coming here! Great atmosphere. Always live music. Even on Sunday afternoons!
Have eaten at Halifax Pub, Sydney Pub, and lastly, Charlottetown. Waitress was exceptional..food was cold & coffee cold.. didnt order ice coffee..lol...waitress did her best for us to enjoy our meal.
great live music . friendly staff . good pub food selection
Best fish cakes and baked beans and mustard pickles and salad and cold slaw ever!!!!
The staff were attentive. Had a drink and quick bite to eat. Service was fast. I arrived when it was quiet but the place quickly filled up.
I had my rehearsal dinner for my wedding here. There were 30 of us and we only had one server. The food took forever , service was slow. (Not the one servers fault) they should have had more servers on. The food was also not very good.
A great pub. Cheers!
Great lunch, nice environment and charming server!
Great fish and chips
Decent Irish pub with typical pub food.
Awesome place!!
Great food , great staff
My favorite pub in PEI
