Famous Peppers is a family-run restaurant that originated in the historic village of Cardigan, Prince Edward Island. Celebrating 20 years of success in December 2023, we own and operate two locations in PEI. Our menu – built around what internationally-acclaimed Chef Michael Smith calls “the best pizza on the Island” – has held the same focus since day one: offering healthy eats made from the MARITIME’S BEST cured, grown, and innovated products.
I have only visited 8 Canadian provinces and have only lived in 1 (Nova Scotia), but I would have to say that Famous Peppers is so far my favorite pizza restaurant in Canada. Artistic, creative, fun with a healthy dose of high quality warmth.
Best pizza I've had in PEI, and as good as I've had in Canada. They make their own sauces, they cut fresh veg and fruit daily, and a crispy crust that's not too thin nor too thick. (Note to dairy free people: they have a cashew-based cheeze available.)
My wife and I ordered the Pure Island right before they were about to close, and we're glad we did. The pizza was delicious, and it looked like their other pizzas would be as well. We'll be leaving Pei tomorrow morning, so we're glad we stopped by.
It’s soooo good. We ordered pizza specialty today. It’s a set of 2 medium sized pizza plus one garlic finger. All the food taste great and the price is very reasonable in current economy situation. Will recommend to all friends in PEI. A must to eat in Charlottetown
Top tier fancy pizza in Charlottetown. They've recently updated their interior and bar for a very pleasant and modern dine-in experience. Staff are very attentive and helpful with questions about ingredients. Would recommend trying out their sandwiches, they are loaded with toppings and their focaccia is delicious 🤤!
Service was really great and to be honest, this gotta be the best pizza i’ve ever had. We will definitely be bringing home a box with us to Nova Scotia. ❤️❤️❤️ The van was a bonus! 😍
This Famous Peppers restaurant delivers satisfying meals in every aspect, with a great atmosphere and delicious, fresh local ingredients. Don't miss out on their pizza. The candied brisket sandwich is both sweet and spicy, tantalizing the taste buds. This restaurant is a must-visit spot on the island.
The chicken pizza was okay, with a decent balance of toppings, but it lacked the wow factor. The garlic fingers, however, were a pleasant surprise – perfectly baked, buttery, and generously coated with flavorful garlic. While the pizza might not have stood out, the garlic fingers redeemed the meal, offering a tasty and satisfying experience.
Best pizza Ive had on P.E.I We had the Cardigan and it was very good.
Maple Chicken penne. Top 5 best in restaurant pasta Ive ever had.
Hands down best pizza in the maritime great staff I moved here from Vancouver and for years would only eat pizza delight until te gates of heaven opened up and famous Peppers walks in ..thank u Jesus
best pizza in PEI life. i think PEI people should appeal more Islands tradition pizza set. it has a unique flavor. Food : 5/5
The best pizza in the world!
The food was amazing and they gave me an extra sauce with no charge. Cannot recommend this place enough.
Jessica was very attentive. Had the 9 Hula Hula (Hawaiian pizza with bacon) pizza. Malbec wine. Nice place.
Excellent assortment of pizzas and pastas.
Great food, love the sandwiches and pizza. Parking: No issues parking Food : 5/5 |
Excellent pizza with a good choice of consumption.
Tried your place the first time today and was excellent in every way great job and great pizza nice place and a very nice island girl for a waitress. Thanks very much will see you again before we leave
Delicious
Staff were excellent. The food was excellent. The restaurant has become a go to for my wife and I. Can t wait to share with my whole family when they come visit.
Worst chicken wings I have ever gotten in my life. Overcooked and dried out to the point of being completely inedible. Ordered donair sauce on the side and received the wrong sauce. Waste of money.
Absolute best pizza on the island
Hero pizza. 1000%. Not normally a ham fan, but do it anyways
The Chicken Club was amazing. Will try more of their sandwiches. Ill move on to the pastas next.
Wayne at Famous Peppers Charlottetown just made my day! Not only did he re-arrange our online order to find us the best deal and save us money, he was above and beyond ontop of that! He has 10/10 customer service and even ran after my partner to bring a missed item out to him! Outstanding customer service and unreal food. I cannot reccomend these guys enough! Thank you Wayne and Famous Peppers Charlottetown
We always get take away and its consistently great but last night was even more amazing! We got the split decision and chose The Red Maple (a bit of sweet) and the Pathfinder (a bit of heat). Both were made and cooked to perfection. Ive never dined in but the atmosphere at the cash is always friendly and welcoming.
Best variety pizza hands down and ofcourse food is excellent.
Good place to eat, great friendly service.
Excellent pizza and garlic fingers! The best pizza in town.
Huge menu of different pizzas. My family and I each ordered a different personal pizza and no one was disappointed in their choice
pizza isnt worth the price
Awesome pizza but a little pricey. Good for a treat once in a while.
Used to really love getting pizza here. But I guess they have vegan cheese now that contains cashews. Which I did not know about and I have a nut allergy. I ordered a hero and cardigan pizza with regular cheese and still had a reaction. Not fun to pay $60 dollars for pizza I couldn t even eat. If you have allergies please beware.
Best pizza in Charlotteotwn. Vegetarian options: Vegan and gluten free options. Food : 5/5 |
Best pizza in Charlottetown. Nice wines available. Tables and atmosphere are terrible. Take out would be better.
Server was extremely friendly, pizza was good if you like different styles of pizza! The maple cream sauce was a bit confusing but its good, its more so like a whipped cream. Beer was good and cold. Only small complaint is the wait time but it wasnt to bad compared to some places.
Island spud pizza or hero are my favourites!
Best slices in town
Always serves delicious pizza
The gluten free crust is chewy and thin-not the best combination. Toppings were generous, but the chicken was a tad dry. I did order delivery so I didnt have the freshest pizza, but I was expecting more for the price.
Amazing pizza. This is not your boring franchise pizza and takes pizza to a whole other level. Dietary restrictions: They have the best gluten-free crust Ive ever tasted.
Real Italian Pizza, excellent taste, friendly staff.... .if you are longing for a super Pizza, go there......you wont be disappointed...Pizza-Lovers from Switzerland
Phenomenal pizza, highly recommend!!
They were full but renovating the second half of their building, so they offered us seating in the renovating part. The staff was super kind and caring and even gave us free garlic fingers because they cooked an extra batch! The pizza was also great and good value! Overall awesome restaurant.
Outstanding menu!! Outstanding flavours!
Maple cream sauce is a hit , try it.
goog pizza very tasty
Yummy thank you
Forever my favourite pizza. The best part is that it s CONSISTENTLY good
Lovely and local I will stop dominos and other big chains and try to order there more often Vegetarian options: Plenty
Delicious pizza, quality ingredients and friendly staff!
It was not what I expected, very good and a good portion. Brisket sandwich
Delicious pizza. Will go again.
Awesome pizza great service
Second visit ordered measter pizza again. First pizza excellent.. Second pizza terrible, only had pepperoni, hamburger and cheese
Famous peppers are famous for a reason
The delivery took forever but it was fabulous
Great place love there food
Decent pizza.
I love Famous Peppers and used to frequent when they first opened years ago at their Kent Street location. Quality then and quality now and so glad to see them grow and thrive. My favs were always The Marguerite and the Spud Islander.
This Za is 11/10!! Cannot recommend it enough. It was our first time in PEI, and so happy we tried this for takeout. We had the Woodsman and the Pathfinder - super fast, high quality pizza. The whole menu sounded delicious!
The most amazing BBQ pizza I have had in years
Great pizza! Okay burger love... But their pizza is the best around
Great tasting pizza! They even do Gluten-free!
First time in PEI and tried the the ultimate island girt and added potatoes. Oh my God so good.
We tried Famous Peppers for the first time twice in the last month. 5 star rating for a number of reasons. 1) They actually answer the phone! No automated calling system where you are put on hold and rerouted to someone in some other Province after pressing multiple options. And you arent forced to order with an app. You actually get to talk to a real live human who works at the restaurant. Thats becoming rare these days. 2) The staff that take your call are very helpful and friendly. 3) The food arrives when they say it will. 4) The pizza is some of the best we have ever tried. Even the gluten free is amazing. Definitely our new go to pizza restaurant.
Very friendly staff there, and just loved our burgersand fries..looking forward to going back to get pizza next time!
Had a pizza from here tonight. I love that they offer a vegan option. It was delicious! The ingredients were fresh, sauce was yum. Thank you for accommodating those with different diets. I will order again!!
Expensive but good
This was a grad party. Very good food and comfortable room.
Amazing options, friendly staff and delicious pizza!
Excellent food, best pizza on the Isle and friendliest staff as well!
We had the Hula Hula for take out. Very good. Would definitely eat again next time we visit Charlottetown
Dietary restrictions: Many delicious vegetarian and vegan options available. Parking: Lots of parking!
Excellent service and amazing garlic fingers and BBQ chicken pizza!
We took our kids out tonight to try Famous Peppers for the first time and it was absolutely amazing we got 4 9inch pizzas to try and cant wait to go back and try some other ones out!!!
Good pizza, little expensive but worth it. I would recommend you to try different pizza each time you visit for different flavours.
The pizza were just so good, especially for the gatling and cheese stick. They were our favorite. We ate so much at this restaurant for 2-3 weeks. DELICIOUS!!!
Friendly & fast, albeit a little disorganised.
Kid-friendliness: They have 2 flavours of kid pizza (cheese and pepperoni) and theyre only $5 each. Id love to see maybe some colouring to keep them busy while you wait!
Worst parking lot in PEI, if you park too long they will tow your car even if the whole lot is empty.
Very good pizzas friendly staff
A nice variety of signature pizzas, with a great selection of hot sauces. Was kid-friendly and easily accessible. Kid-friendliness: Nice and easy cheese pizza for the younger generation
Delivered pizza straight to our hotel room, was absolutely delicious and fresh. Loved everything about it! We even ordered shortly before their 9pm close and they fulfilled the order regardless! Really happy with our choice.
Famous Peppers in Dieppe, NB was ALWAYS our go to for pizza. Sadly it closed its doors and pizza was never the same again. . Needless to say, when a trip was made to PEI recently, we were just as excited, if not more, about getting pizza from Famous Peppers than we were about the event we were attending.
Delicious! Potatoes on pizza, what a great idea! So good!
Had pizza and salad. Both amazing.
You want amazing pizza? This is the place to order..they are friendly an have great service
Still the best pizza in town!
Loved it
Great pizzas that feel homemade with a touch of PEI
So good. Both the taco and the maple pepperoni pizzas are delicious.
Gluten free pizza and garlic fingers were amazing!!
This place is fantastic. Me and my friends went here and the food was great! Worker seemed to ENJOY helping us and it looked like he WANTED to be there. Fantastic experience and I will be coming here very often. The environment was amazing 10/10
If you like trying new foods, this is a fantastic place to have unique pizza. You order and pay first, then sit and have it brought to you, which is convenient that you dont have to wait for a bill. Pizzas were a good size, and affordable. Lots of interesting options to try - we will go back!
Amazing. I ordered a gluten free pizza to go nd my bank card wudnt work. I told them to just cancel the order. The manager was the one ringing it in. She td me not to worry , I cud come back anytime during the week to pay it. Only in PEI !
I think this is one of the best pizzas I have eaten. We had some garlic fingers as well and they were great as well. Loved the homemade Donaire sauce. Great service and nice to know that everything is local. Will definitely be back again. Parking: Lots of parking, nice big parking lot.
Very good place to eat if you want to try a pizza place that isnt a chain and want something made with a bit more flair made by a chef. I had a meats pizza and im ready to try others in due time, not somewhere id say you should frequent if you are on a budget but perfect for meeting up with old friends for any ordinary celebration. Try it at least twice : )The first pizza is never the last.
Pizza Great, Restaurant atmosphere lacking big time.
It was good pizza & garlic fingers, pleasantly surprised. Ordered delivery and never got my drinks tho, which sucked. But your food is very pretty, stands out from other pizza places
Delicious pizza and garlic fingers.
An excellent option on the island! Top notch, fresh toppings, awesome menu. This is one of our standard places to go. Doctors here actually do recommend The Doctor - but without olives.
Best pizza in Charlottetown.
Pizza was so so
This pizzeria was justifiably featured on You Gotta Eat Here! Our favourites include the Woodsman, the Taco Delight, and the Donair. Pro tip: when it comes to the specialty sauces like maple cream or donair, you may want order you pizza with extra sauce, as they otherwise keep the sauce level fairly subtle.
Great Pizza, lots of fun toppings. They were very busy. The staff in Montague were nicer and more accommodating
Good customer service. Special care for vegetarians. Location and premise not bad or could have been better.
Excellent pizza flavors.
I liked it at first but got to notice the outfits the workers had on were nasty and the pizza just got nasty !
I havent tried anything but the Spud Islander but thats mostly because I dont live in PEI. The small personal size is a great meal for one person. Its 6 slices of crazy goodness. Price is fair. I have always ordered and picked up to go. Cant speak for their in restaurant service. Ill try to add a picture next time but Im always to quick to get into it.
The only reason Im giving two stars is because they do make good pizza. Their delivery and customer service on the other hand is where I have an issue. Im a regular customer but twice in the last month or so the delivery guy tried to deliver to the wrong address so the food was cold and he used the excuse that Google gave him incorrect directions. The issue I have with that excuse is that the app actually lets you select your home right on the map. So, if they use that info there shouldnt be any issue with finding the place, its been here for at least 10 years. As for the customer service, this time they forgot to include the donair sauce with our order. Not a huge issue but garlic fingers without donair sauce are, well, not really garlic fingers. So I call their number and after three tries from two different numbers they finally pick up and the young lady on the phone actually laughs when I tell her they forgot to include the donair sauce and says she could write a note to make sure they include it next tIm....a note for next time?!...Really?! So now Im a bit annoyed and ask if the sauce is supposed to be included which she confirms and I ask what she is going to do about it. She offers a gift certificate but not to deliver the sauce and her attitude is now very short and condescending. Too bad because weve been regulars for well over a year now and for the most part they have been great. Mistakes happen but when they do, and customers call to inquire, they should not be laughed at and ofered to fix it next time. What about fixing it this time? Not a great way to retain customers folks.
Not from around here, but from NS, wasnt sure what to expect except what I read in reviews. Was absolutely blown away. I dont think I have ever tasted a pizza that delicious. Easiest 5 star Ive ever given. Even my 4 kids gobbled it up without complaints.
Requested real bacon. Real bacon was confirmed. Ordered double bacon I got minimal bacon bits. Could barely taste. Excessively doughy and clearly crust was off sysco truck. Expensive and disappointing.
Pizza was delicious, it was on time, and I received great customer service
Just ate here for the first time, visiting from New Brunswick. I have to say, we got two pizzas, and the one called The Woodsman was arguably the best pizza Ive ever tasted. It had smoked ham, potato slices, red onion, oregano, a maple sauce and a drizzle of BBQ sauce. Out of this world!!! 5 stars
really good pizza innovative flavours, like most pizza places tho not the best for dinning in, but most people get delivery anyway so who cares
Like their pizzas, customer service not so much. Ordered a pizza for delivery last Saturday evening online and the estimated time for delivery was 6:45 about 45 minutes from when it was ordered, fair enough busy night. Around 7:30 I was getting a little worried our pizza may never arrive so I called to get an update. No answer. Called several more times no answer. So now I m very annoyed having paid for a dinner and having no clue where it is or how much longer it ll be (hangry). Luckily I wasn t drinking and had a car to go to the restaurant to ask them what s up. I guess the delivery guy bailed on them. Ok so why not call or email the people with outstanding deliveries? Seems pretty simple. Anyway they handed my pizza that had been sitting in their warmer for about an hour. No idea what would have happened if I didn t go get it myself. Lesson learned I won t be getting delivery from them again.
Had a lovely experience tonight! Order my pizza expecting a long wait on a Friday evening, and when the FIRST delivery driver arrived I was pretty hungry well, only half my order was there, so he called the shop and they sent my WHOLE order back (including the half I had kept), plus a $10 voucher! Great service, and delicious pizza!
Great pizza. New location is amazing
Double charged me for a pizza. Initially paid online, went to pickup and was told it wasnt paid for.. took their word as my buddy said he paid online so I paid as well to take it home and was double charged. Edit: contacted by owner and it was quickly fixed thank you.
Super awesome delicious pizza our family favourite
45 minute wait
Best pizza on Prince Edward Island. They have a variety of types of pizza you wont find anywhere else. Our family favorite is The Spud Islander minus the ham!
Great Pizza, Very Polite service
Famous peppers is a stand-out pizza option in Charlottetown. Great location, awesome ingredients, and always friendly staff. Would highly recommend the Woodsman.
Amazing pizza theres something their for everyone!
Delicious pizza and great service
Awesome service, the management is great in this pandemic they are really taking it seriously. Very clean!
Our favorite pizza in town!! Its our go to Friday night treat. So many choices and yet to have one we didnt enjoy. Great vegan pizza also!!
Famous peppers is by far the best pizza you will get in Charlottetown, it will be slightly more expensive than the cheaper options but the quality is much better. If I could make a recommendation it would be the woodsman, its definitely not a standard pizza but its amazing.
Been a customer there since the late 90s when located in Cardigan. Been my favorite place to eat ever since!!
Always fresh ingredients and I feel good knowing they are all local
Hot, fresh and island ingredients. You cant go wrong. Their vegan pizza is good and Im a meat-eater.
Good food, but the service was horrible, and the individuals working were not friendly at all... Shame because the pizza was very good. Won t be returning.
Great pizza and outstanding staff.
Top 5 pizza spots on PEI and easily best in town
Smelled like septic. Must have been a septic explosion about 300-500m away. Not saying it was famous peppers but I thought it was worth mentioning. As for the pizza. I was told on the phone it would be $59. When arrived I was told it would $59. The cashier handed my buddy the debit machine and it was $67. Why didnt they include the tax when they told me the price? $67 is a lot of money for 2 pizzas and garlic fingers. We assumed it must have been some bomb pizza for almost $70. We ordered a load potato pizza and they didnt put any sour cream or green onions on it. The pepperoni pizza was *okay*. The garlic fingers were also okay. This place is NOT worth the money.
Ive eaten here 3/4 times now, always take-out. Of the various pizzas Ive tried (all Gluten-Free): The Red Maple, Roasted Red Pepper, Garlic Fingers, and the Barbecue Chicken pizzas. I would put the pizza crust as the best gluten free pizza crust Ive ever eaten, bar none. I would also put it as some of my favorite pizza of all time. Especially the Maple Cream sauce, that is heavenly, and very unique. The garlic fingers also use some lovely herbs that smell a bit more distinct (oregano, ???) than typical big name garlic fingers, were among my favorites.
Ordered the Hero pizza with the pickles...it was DILLicious! Garlic fingers were super good too. Thanks!
Fantastic!!!
With a group had pizza, garlic fingers and a donair. Amazing food!! Everyone enjoyed it so much. Donair was fresh and tasty, pizza fresh ingredients, and garlic fingers are amazing!
One of the best pizzas I have ever had. The crust was amazing
Great selection, good price, excellent food and impeccable service
Some of the best pizza and services on the island. They also have gluten free options and their salads are maybe with fresh local greens.
My friend introduced me to Famous Peppers a few years ago and whenever Im in Charlottetown, I make sure to have at least one pizza. So tasty and delicious. Lots of different and interesting choices. The one pictured is the Sergeant Pepperoni. Try the Spud Islander.
Best pizza ever
The garlic cheese fingers are the best Ive ever had! And the variety of different pizzas they have is amazing. This was a great place to go to with family who all have different pizza preferences because we could all get personal pizzas and enjoy!
Another amazing pizza!!
First pizza experience in PEI. We just moved here a few months ago from eastern Ontario. Staff very friendly but pizza is very basic. Only slightly better than chain restaurant pizza. Ordered a Toute Garni (all dressed) only a few slices if pepperoni per pizza slice. Flavor was okay, not great. Disappointed overall. Will continue to try other pizza joints until we find the right one.
Best on pei.
Amazing pizza !! Saw it on you gotta eat here worth making a trip from Ontario:)
Awesome pizza great service
Best pizza in Charlottetown! I must warn you though, once you have had Famous Peppers, no other pizza will satisfy.
Best pizza on the Island, hands down!
good pizza, big slices.
The pizza is always great, good price and big slice.
A bit slow but worth the wait. Donair pizza is a must try
Very good pizza in a sea of mediocrity.
Often go there to get a slice and either a pop or chocolate milk for lunch, since its at a good price as well.
Fantastic pizza combinations!! Delicious!!!
Had heard very good things about this pizza place. We placed an order for delivery for the workplace. Unfortunately, the order arrived ice cold. And was unfit to eat unless microwaved. I did call the restaurant to let them know. They were very apologetic. Seems there was a new delivery person on. The order was not in a warming case. So it had to be microwaved and so the taste was not great. I expect, judging by the reviews that this is not the norm. However I am unlikely to try it again.
