75 Queen St, Charlottetown, PE C1A 4A8, Canada
Compact pub with an easygoing vibe providing draft brews, cocktails & traditional British plates.
We were visiting Charlottetown for the first time and looking for a pub. This place looked attractive and as soon as we walked in the door, we were not disappointed! The fish and chips are fantastic - even my British wife was impressed! The selection of beers was great. The service was friendly and welcoming. The price was reasonable! We went back a second time and had a similar experience. Even when it was very busy the service was not rushed. Highly recommend this pub!! Tyler our server was very good. Our only criticism was that the two of us were at a table for six. It was busy and told the staff we could share the table with other guests. They did not do this but when we invited three people waiting in line to join us, the staff were grateful and we enjoyed a good evening. So I guess just a message to the staff - patrons should be given the option of waiting for a table or join others who are open to sharing!
Awesome food, great service, and cozy pub atmosphere. We enjoyed the curry chips to start, butter chicken and shepherds pie for mains, and shared a deep fried Mars bar for dessert. Everyone was happy with their meal. Love how you can get half rice/half fries with the curries.
Came here for the fish and chips . Amazing food, such large portions. Amazing service. They also have a deep fried mars bar featured on the show “you gotta eat here”.
Our food was great- excellent portions for the price. Everyone at our table of 5 was happy with the food. I love that the curry can come with both rice and chips + naan so you don't feel like you're missing out on anything. I took home leftovers and even reheated the food was delicious. Our service was friendly and efficient, everything we needed.
We stopped in for dinner and enjoyed a few different beers. My wife had the steak sandwich, which was overcooked and disappointing. I had the 2 piece fish and chips. The fish was excellent, 2 huge pieces, light/excellent batter and the fries were ok.
"It's a fantastic small British pub in the center of Charlottetown. The service was friendly and warm, and the food was excellent. I had the Fish 'n' Chips, which was out of this world good, and I also ordered a side of curry sauce, which was fantastic."
I was looking for good fish and chips and was not disappointed! It was perfectly battered and wonderfully crispy! Superb! Had a local red ale from Copper Bottom brewery that was excellent! We sat at an outdoor table and really enjoyed the experience! Highly recommend! Oh, and my wife had the Mediterranean salad and it was good. Not as great as the fish & chips though 😃. Brett was our server and she was awesome!
This was a nice quaint place to eat. We had lunch here. The waitress was so friendly! We enjoyed eating a chicken pear sandwich and the Banger and mash platter both served with PEI mashed potatoes. The bread/roll for the sandwich was amazing. The only odd thing we couldn’t figure out was the pork n beans served with the sausage platter. We thought there was something special about the beans when the waitress offered them, but it was just plain pork and beans lol 😂 try the island cider…it was so good !
Great service! Our server was very attentive and fun. She gave us recommendations and was super sweet. We had some drinks and desserts and it was all good. The place its very nice and comfy and creates a good atmosphere for hanging out with friends.
Generous portion and the food was exquisite. A real delight for fish n chips lovers
One of the best spots in town.
This was our 2nd time to Charlottetown and having dined here the first time and loving it we knew we had to return again! Would highly recommend the fish and chips and the curry sampler! So much food and great prices! Food
Had a plate of nachos and some loaded potato skins. Excellent. Great choice of beers, etc. Attentive service and reasonable prices. Would recommend next time your in town
Really wonderful pub! Very good fish and chips and beer selection. Atmosphere is great!
The food, atmosphere, and service are always great. If you are looking for an evening out, then go no further. This quaint little pub in downtown Charlottetown I very nice. Their signature dishes are British style curry. From fish and chips, to steak and guiness pie, you can always find somethinf to eat. The crowd at Churchill can be very animated and joyfull after a long day at work, but if you dont mind a bit noisier crowd, Churchill Arms should be your place to visit.
The best fish n chips
Stopped in for a couple of pints the girls working today had big smiles and were lovely to chat 6
Delicious! We had the butter chicken and chicken korma with fries and rice. Very satisfying and good lunch portions.
Best fish and chips this side of the Atlantic. Actually have REAL chips ..not fries.
Cute patio atmosphere, friendly staff and the BEST korma I ve ever had!
Lobster Poutine is a must shareable!
Great service and tasty food!
Was dead on a weekday night. They supposedly have specials during the week however no one reviewed this w us.
Excellent in every way
Stopped by for a pint of cider . There was was one spot open at the bar and as soon as I stood there I realized why . The air conditioner was blowing cold air right in my face but I was kind of boxed in so stuck it out . Nice atmosphere, good crowd there for the soccer game
Great chicken korma
Went with friends, ordered a club. Just about the best tasting one I ve ever had. Will definitely go back. Great customer service giving all the scoop on great places to visit and how to travel to them! Wheelchair accessibility: Able to eat out on the patio.
Dietary restrictions: Staff were very helpful and forward thinking about my dietary restrictions Food
Dont know why this gets such a good review. Didnt eat here, but its kind of dirty.
Great burger there went for the old fashioned one and the bulldog one. 11/10 would recommand
A favourite for delicious curry and half chips half rice.
Good ambiance to watch a hockey match!
Fish and chips are delicious!!! Service wax awesome!
Stopped in here this week as we picked a random restaurant and we were not expecting to enjoy the food and service this much. We had the curry sharing platter and the lunch side Tikka Masala. The portions were big, taste was authentic and when Im back in PEI, Ill be going back because the burgers smelled and looked phenomenal. Our server also went above and beyond with his recommendations and service. If youre looking for a quaint restaurant with great food and service, definitely come here!
A friend and I stopped in for curry fries and a pint over lunch, and it was great. The chips were crispy, the beer was cold, and service was prompt and super friendly!
It was a great night with amazing service!
Always great pub food. Some of the best curries around. Burger is great. Fish and chips are really good and very large, one piece is often more than enough for many people. Knowledgeable and friendly staff. Due to its size, it can be difficult to get a seat during busy hours. It is worth the wait though.
A friend took me here for lunch. I had curried fries and they were delicious. My friend had curried chicken and rice. Waitress was amazing and we made sure to leave a decent tip. This was my first visit and I will definitely be back.
Wonderful
Great restaurant. Very busy. Loved the food and service was great.
Great food, vibrant atmosphere, and the best owner
Kid-friendliness: Kids are always welcomed with open arms Food
O me oh my! Fabulous, fish and double fried fries, thick cut steak fries, so good! Service fabulous, a busy spot, so you know food is good...
Mmmmmm chicken korma
Great food and great server as well
Great atmosphere food was delicious
Good food, waitress was great. Update winter 2023 - another good meal at an incredibly fair price.
Nice little pub
I had the fish and chips which were excellent. My husband had the Churchill clubhouse. He said it was good although the chicken flavor was a little lost due to the amount of other items in it. Our server Ashley was awesome. Will go back when we visit PEI again.
Very good pub, nice staff good food, cool pub vibe.
Best English style curry
Food as always was good, but big mouth regular was annoying
Great spot, just like being in London!
I loved the fish and chips and the staff were great!
One of the employees from the local liquor store recommended we checked out Churchill Arms, and it did not disappoint! The fish and chips lived up to expectations and the staff was very friendly! The atmosphere was great and they have a lot of drink options.
Very nice quaint spot to have a couple of pints and snacks. Well be back
Awesome little place. Chicken wings were amazing here, service was excellent and the pub had a great atmosphere. Curries smelled amazing too although we didnt try them.
I enjoyed the service staff, and I found the Guinness pie very tasty and hearty.
Really needed some Fish & Chips.....and where to go? A British Themed Pub of course. Fast service, nice staff. Order the fish & chips, but do yourself a favour....order 1 piece only (they say its Atlantic Halibut, but you would easily imagine an Arctic Halibut......its HUGE) Nice selection of beers. Like most places in Old Charlottetown, there isnt a surplus of parking. The only downside is that it is primarily a bar, a British bar.....so it IS kinda loud. For some that adds to fun & experience, but if youre looking for a quieter place to eat, this likely wouldnt be the best place to eat.
Gorgeous food..very busy but fab atmosphere and great staff..
Really good food. Pear salad was delicious. Good service
Service was exceptional. The bar staff are amazingly friendly and inviting. The selection of local brewed beer is awesome. Didnt have any food but the menu looked great. Having grown up in the UK I can attest to the authenticity of the ambience in this pub. I loved it.
Very excellent UK-style pub. Dark and intimate, with a complete array of lovingly prepared foods, including a top notch butter chicken, and the best chips Ive had in a very long time!!
Had a nice light dinner wings and potatoe skins so good
Fantastic food and service. Server accidentally overcharged us for an extra beer but otherwise an amazing place.
My hubby and I were in for lunch as we were touring Charlottetown today. Ordered drinks and chowder with bread. It was so good and the fresh bread was delicious. Our server was great and did a great job. Well definitely recommend this place to everyone who is visiting the city.
Always great food and friendly staff. Curry is great and I miss Curry nights. always a good time.
Have always loved the fish and chips here! Will always have my business!
Excellent fish and chips
Great location for a drink, and the best staff, friendly, and engaging.
Best fish and chips so far
Food was great, as someone who eats a lot it was filling. Prices were fair for the portion sizes. I got the curry quisadias (pardon my spelling) and it was extremely good. Other members of my party got fish and chips and the club sandwich respectively and both of which were very positively reviewed. The size of fish for the fish and chips was very good. The service was extremely good and kind. We had a dog with us and the patio wasnt really in use but they were more than happy to accommodate us. Overall I have nothing but good things to say and I would recommend this place heavily. Parking: Youll have to drive around a lot or walk from a distance to find parking.
Nice restaurant/pub. Service was awesome, food was fantastic. Authentic british fare.
Great, friendly attentive staff. Whether you re in for drinks or a full on meal, it doesn t matter. Their fish and chips is the standard by which all others in town should be measured. Steak and Guinness pie is excellent. Outdoor patio available. This place gets busy and rightfully so. Nice selection of craft beers. Street parking. Recommended.
Just a quick pint before moving on.
Great butter chicken. Sat out in the pation. Friendly waiter.
Great comfort food spot in the heart of downtown. Perfect if you just want to drop in for a drink on their patio in the summer! They always have some local options on their beverage menu. They have plenty of British dishes to choose from, and generally have a small summer menu for specials if thats what youre looking for. Prices are a bit higher but the portions reflect this, you wont leave hungry. Vegetarian options: Some vegetarian options for both apps and mains Parking: Street parking only
They make the best curry and chips in the Maritimes.
My spouse and I are repeat customers because this restaurant has: solid food options, great portions, wide range of alcohol beverage options, and every different meal we have tried have all been equally fantastic. Truly recommend visiting this restaurant if you are downtown!
Ordered the curry sampler plate and enjoyed it thoroughly. Cant wait to return to try another menu item.
Very good Curry with excellent service. Its a bit tight but very British pub. Friendly service, warm atmosphere.
Some of the best curry I ve ever had get the Korma. And if you can t decide, get the sampler for all three. Waitress super kind and helpful.
The Churchill is our local go-to pub. We love the curries there - butter chicken and chicken korma. Fish n chips is also solid as are the potato skins for an appetizer. You really cant go wrong with anything on the menu. Service is friendly and most importantly, theres always local craft beer on tap.
Great food, great atmosphere.
Server was amazing
Good time meeting some locals here. We gad a great time visiting
It was SO good! We had the curry sampler, and each one was delicious, though my favorite was the Korma. We ended up ordering extra to take home! My girlfriend had the clubhouse sandwhich, which she thoroughly enjoyed. The staff was super friendly and patient as we tried to figure out what we wanted. They were also helpful in answering all questions. Overall, it was a great experience, and we love the pub itself and all its charm. Definitely suggested, especially if you are new to trying curry as I found none of them were too hard to handle spice wise. (Korma was not at all spicy).
Good fish and chips..big portion
Decent priced drinks
Really enjoyed this place. My friends treated me to an adult beverage and I tried the steak & Guinness pie. Full of flavour to the last drop. If Id been alone, I might have licked the bowl clean!!
Great experience. Busy, and that tells me that food is good and it definitely was.
Delicious curry and always friendly staff
Best British style pub in town, fantastic service, love the staff behavior very friendly and kind, good food and beer
My favorite restaurant on PEI & a place I look forward to coming back to when I travel. Their curry is to die for & their fish & chips are amazing. Great atmosphere, great drinks- this is the must go place to eat on PEI
Awesome atmosphere, I wish they had some vegetarian items beyond salad.
Friendly service, great craft beer& the food was delicious.
Great pub
Great food
Churchill Arms is an authentic English pub transported to our little island in Canada. The best curry on either side of the pond, fish and chips to die for and the best fries on PEI. Pre-covid you expected to stand in line for a table. Even with many isolating, this is where foodies go when they eat or take out. My new fav is their greek platter with cucumbers, tomatoes, tzatziki, feta, greek olives and more. Lots of fresh pita for dipping. It puts out the fire of their incredible beef madras. (Only for the bravest!) :-)
Try the Bubble & Sqeak - its delicious! Great curry too.
Awesome food. Awesome service.
First time in, never been more welcomed in my life. Good drinks, good prices. Good fun.
Great place. Classic pub, would make this a regular stop. Could stand to improve the single malt selection but otherwise a great location. The curries are absolutely top notch.
Good food, cozy atmosphere. A pleasant place to spend a rainy afternoon.
Once upon a time, in Guelph, Ontario there was a pub called The Penny Whistle which served chips (french fries) and curry (Curry flavoured sauce/gravy). It was a personal favourite. The Penny was killed by the pandemic, as many restaurants were. I feared I would never taste the glorious Curry and chips again, but lo and behold - The Churchill Arms served it and it was beautiful, holy even. Loved every moment. TL;DR Great food, staff, ambiance, and price point.
Nice english pub, food is great and the staff is very friendly.
Really good fish and chips. Batter is thin and crispy and fries were good.
Nice British pub with great staff and wide selection on tap.
Excellent service! Big portions of food. If you order the 2 piece fish n chips be aware. Those are big fish.
Amazing food. Great service. Very relaxing atmosphere.
Fantastic little pub. Excellent beer, food and service. Do yourself a favor and go. Well worth the visit. Ill be back for sure. Thanks from an Ottawa tourist.
Decent pub. Servers were inconcistent even though it wasnt busy. Food was delicious.
Friendly staff, cold beverages, great patio and cute pub!!!
Love this place for the curry and half rice, half chips
Friendly place with good service, shaded terrace in pm with lots of space. Alright.
Good spot for a drink. Very friendly service and classic pub decor. Didnt try the food.
Amazing place, I was always welcomed on my way in and received great service. Outstanding food and portions was worth a revisit on a short work trip.
When you ve had your fill of all the amazing seafood in Charlottetown (is that even possible?) head to the Churchill Arms for an amazing curry. Had the madras chicken. Perfect. Just the right amount of heat, tins of tender, juicy chicken and wonderful fluffy basmati. Great service. Super beer selection. And if you still want seafood, my partner had the lobster club and it was terrific!
So many positive reviews about the korma. Here is another. This place is a go-to anytime I am in Ch Town. It has a good pub feel and really great service. The menu is what you would expect in an English-style pub and the curries do not disappoint. The lunch version of the chicken korma is what I have posted in the photo. Not too sweet and the naan and jasmine rice are perfect with it. Also, good fries!
My husband and I ate here and enjoyed the food immensely. Although the menu is not printed with nutritional warnings, our server advised me that GF options were available and which items to avoid. I chose the Chicken Tikka Nachos and the flavour blend was fantastic. My husband had the fish and chips and the 1pc was enormous. The batter was crispy and so were the fries (perfectly). Highly recommend eating here.
Fish and chips are amazing and the portions are very generous. One piece of fish filled the entire plate! Nothing was greasy, the batter was so light and crispy and perfectly done. I had a side of mushy peas which were good, but the side curry sauce for fry dipping blew me away with the flavour. True British style food. You won t be disappointed!
Awesome food
The fish & chip is definitely worth it.
Great people good drinks
Out of this world! The fish and chips are second to none. The homemade korma curry is off the chain. If you put a spoonful of this korma on top of your head, your tongue would beat your brains out to get to it! The chicken tikka nachos were on point.
This is a must_stop spot. The best fish and chips, Ive ever had! Homemade curries, British favorites, so good that we went back two nights In a row! 8/11/2022 Still on our must stop here list every time we are in Charlottetown. Tonight we tried a summer special Chicken Tikka Nachos (definitely on point) and of course we had to have the Fish n Chips!
Enjoying dinner on patio after catching Tall Tales at Confed Centre.
Great menu and atmosphere. I ordered a Ceasar salad and added chicken. Fast service and staff was amazing. We loved this place.
Nice bar. Food smelled great
Beautiful pub in the heart of Charlottetown. Food was delicious, I had the chicken korma, sauce was super creamy and flavorful. Would recommend to anyone who are looking for a great place to lunch or dinner.
A discovery with a wide variety of beers. Very authentic place!
Great butter chicken and wonderful service
Nice wait staff and owner/manager GREAT CURRY FRIES!!! We went for trivia and as Americans we are confused why there were no rules, really long wait times for questions, only 20 questions (2.5 hours) and no microphone. But alas we had fun and I won a free beer!
Busy day at two Walk in only to be disappointed by news that the kitchen was closing
Dont know why we havent been going to the Churchill Arms more often. After choosing other restaurants lately we will now be making Churchill our go to restaurant! A cozy restaurant and charming atmosphere and of course lots of Churchill memorabilia. It has a great menu with lots of very tasty curries in all sorts of different formats including nachos and quesadillas as well as the more traditional presentations. And of course, other non-curry menu items as well. Food was super tasty, served quite quickly by friendly staff. Prices were very reasonable. Just a wonderful place for a relaxing lunch!
Great curry. Nice staff, always stop in while in town.
Discriminates against single people. I would have liked to try this place if I would have been served. But instead the waitress mumbled something, turned around and walked away after I wanted to try this restaurant. It was quite busy, but there were a few seats available. This isnt the first place that didnt want to serve me for being by myself, it seems to be a growing issue everywhere.
Great Fish & Chips with mushy peas, large portions. Our server was really good. Great British pub atmosphere.
Butter chicken is the best Ive ever had
Great atmosphere, good food.. similar to what we found in UK
Atmosphere of a real English pub
Id heard good things about this restaurant, and was reallyyy looking forward to eating here. Curry was good, fries were excellent, deep fried mars bars were good. But unfortunately the service we received was not good. We sat outside with a number of other guests. As the evening was cool, guests were offered to move indoors. We chose to remain outside. However, many tables who arrived after us, and eventually moved inside, were tended to and served long before us. We watched people who arrived significantly after leaving the restaurant after finishing eating and paying, while we had not even been checked on once to see how our food was or if we needed anything. Later our waitress arrived and told us thatd she gotten busy inside and hadnt had time to check on us. We dont understand why we were any less important than other customers. As younger men who are members of a minority group, it made us feel uncomfortable and unwelcome. We didnt have drinks or appetizers, yet our dining experience lasted well over 2 hours from start to finish. We felt ignored and the meal was not enjoyed as it could have been because of the lack of attention.
The location is great, service is great but the food was just okay. We ordered chicken and mushroom pies with mashed potatoes. The pies had a piece of puff pastry sitting on top rather than a crust, and it was impossible to cut while sitting on the dish. We had to put it on the side of our plates, and even then it was difficult to cut with a knife and fork. Additionally, the mashed potatoes were tasteless, even adding salt couldnt make them more flavourful. The chicken and mushrooms were very tasty.
Friendly fast service with really good food. Loved their seafood chowder.
Second time coming. Lovely pub. Always great food
awesome
Great food. Great service!
Ordered steak and kidney pie. It was not a pie. It was a filling in a dish with a clump of Phillo pastry on top. Not one bit impressed. Too much money for too little food and a snobby waitress to boot.
A real delight excellent service, beers and food
Feels like a real English pub (or what i imagine one feels like).
Good food, fantastic service and Heidi is fantastic!!!!
Its a local like no other.
My daughter took me there for my birthday. The staff and bartender were fantastic. I had a great time.
Good food, fast service and a nice pub atmosphere.
Curry is the BEST
Nice warm atmosphere, friendly staff, cold beer.
Order any of the curries - you will not be disappointed.
Great British Style pub with Saturday afternoon live trivia.
Very decent pub food! The butter chicken was very good and the fish n chips were huge. Fairly noisy, but jovial pub atmosphere. Courteous service.
Always a blast here. Best staff anywhere! Food is to die for! The soups.... are divine! The curries, they dont get any better than here!!
Such a nice local place, food was really good and at a decent price. It was trivia night and the host was great.
Beautiful PEI September weather added to the late afternoon atmosphere, but service was super friendly and the beers were cold.
Poor food and marginal service. Tips on the machine start at 18%. Worse fish and chips Ive ever had.
Food was good and the staff very friendly.
Excellent food !
Fantastic food, great service. Cant wait to go back. Their curries are so good!
Pretty good Guinness!
Incredible corn chowder. Excellent service.
Trivia night was so good!
Curry and Chips, wow! So good. Also great atmosphere and staff.
Traditional pub fare for a reasonable price. Great service! Food was good (had the steak and kidney pie).
Full size chicken korma with fries, no other better place in the world makes it as good
Consistently delicious food, consistently great service. Only downside is a portion of the customer base is fairly consistently obnoxious. Still, 5 stars. Highly recommend the korma with chips (or half chips, half rice).
Great spot for English-style Pub-faire. Staff is very kind and efficient and portion sizes more than make up for the slightly higher price than you expect.
