181 Great George St, Charlottetown, PE C1A 4L2, Canada
Favorite restaurant on PEI. Nice and chill atmosphere, delicious food, Iwona is a wonderfully pleasant waitress and the owner is usually walking around making sure everything is as expected or better.
Been there twice, had the Shish Taouk both times (chicken kebab with Lebanese rice and Greek salad and their amazing garlic paste). It was just as awesome the second time!
Super nice family owned place. Great music venue upstairs and did I mention the garlic spread? OMG yum! Called Maroun's. Take some home with you. No regrets!
Thought I'd grab a snack before having a drink at Baba's Lounge ($15 for a Can of local cider). I absolutely love Hummus, but what they serve here was really bland despite being made from scratch, I unfortunately ate it to be polite. They really need to improve this appetizer, especially as a gluten-free option with hidden additional costs for no bread. Their (now deleted) response to my review was really weird, too so I switched it to 1 star.
Cedars, what an amazing experience, as always! The portions were large and easily shareable, the food was tasty as ever, The Greek salad, the rice, the Shawarma, the hummus. Always so flavourful and wonderful, the coffee and baklava finished the meal perfectly. We loved our server and we even graciously had our water refilled by the chef! Such a great service we can’t wait to go back.
Food is no longer good. We come to PEI every year and eat here often. This time the meat, falafel, and rice were cold and salad dressing was very sour. It shocked us to see the prices had gone way up and the food quality had gone way down. What has happened? Did they change ownership/chef or we came in a wrong day? Very disappointed as we so looked forward to dining here when we come to PEI. The service staff was the highlight of the restaurant and saved it for the 2-star rating; otherwise it would be 1 star. Not sure we’re going to give them one more chance or go to a new restaurant?!? So many good restaurants opening in the island now so it won’t be tough to find a good Middle Eastern restaurant around here. (Looking at the baklava that they charged $9.99 CAD. What a joke!)
Didn't get a chance to dine in at this place but we did take out. And I must say the Lady at the counter was super helpful and very generous. She customised my order accordingly 😌. Loved the fish and chips with the tartar sauce.
Food was amazing! But for the price of the plate the portion should be bigger. The yabrak and kibbeh are to die for, tabouleh was a bit dry but fresh and the hummus is the best. The pan fried fish was okay. Staff are so friendly and the ambiance was nice. Recommended!
Had lunch today and the service was great, place was super clean and the food was excellent. Had the small combo platter and is it ever a ton of food for 22.00
Love Cedars! The shawarma this visit was fantastic as always, and it was a great lunch stop before a busy afternoon
Chicken Shwarma was delicious, staff was friendly and the atmosphere was quite cozy.
The best place to eat! Never disappoints!
The food is so good. Today I had the Shwarma salad. My sister had the shwarma sandwich and rice. So good - we ate it all. I finished with a special pot of rich,Lebanese coffee and we shared the baklava dessert. Our server Ivana wasasweetie. Attentive and friendly. I will be back!! Vegetarian options: There are greatveg choices of salad. Grapeleaves and hummus are also great choices.
The Chicken Shawarma is a staple of my diet. I ve been getting it at least once a week for the last 15 years. I can not suggest it enough. I love this place.
A classic taste of Charlottetown. A must eat when I visit!
Been coming here for decades. Amazing food, service, and interesting decor to boot.
Always a joy to come to Cedars! Always the first place we recommend to friends. Amazing food, and you always know what you re getting. Very consistent and love the music and friendly staff.
Our meal was wonderful as always. Highly recommended. Vegetarian options: A few wonderful veggie and vegan options Food : 5/5 |
Incredible experience. Made my trip to PEI complete
Fabulous food with great service in a very cozy setting. Highly recommend
Food was good. Server was attentive and the restaurant was very clean.
Really nice. Get the rice.
Always a lovely, tasty experience! Highly recommend!
Love
Been traveling the Maritimes for a while. This is the best meal we have had since we arrived! Had the platter and chicken shawarma. All of it was amazing!
Ive been a big fan of this place dating back 30 years when I lived in Charlottetown and its a must stop every time I visit. I recommend the shawarma sandwich, its one of the better ones Ive had. The greek salad is a nice upgrade as a side dish with chunks of feta and Kalamata olives. Overall, the menu has a great selection of traditional Lebanese food, but also has standard Canadian options for the less adventurous eaters in your group. The decor is beautifully traditional and helps create an atmosphere of stepping into a different time and place. Parking: Street parking is metered, though not required to pay in the evening or weekends. Depending on the time of day it can be challenging to get a spot near the restaurant. Kid-friendliness: Menu has options to satisfy most picky eaters.
Excellent service, food and atmosphere!
Excellent customer service,! The food was delicious ! With much appreciation and gratitude. Food : 5/5
Ryan makes the best food ever. Love the falafel plate.
Classic and unchanged
Best food weve had in a long time. Will be back for sure!!
Amazing place to eat best chicken shawarma in town
Not my cup of tea but people love it. There is a reason they have been opened so long.
This was one of the best experience that i enjoyed in dining this year the staff and food were excellent.
Cedars is a great spot, which I typically use for lunch as it is near my workplace. Its often full, so arriving and getting a table by 11:45 is wise.
Good food
Wow, Great Food, Great Service, the Baklava was delicious.
Food and service is always great!
Great food, calm atmosphere
disgusting
The place is pretty good, the environment is very Arabic. The portions are massive, the food is just a tad bit western.
Dietary restrictions: Gluten free Food
Cedars food is always great! Best shawarma in town!!
Always the best of service. The food was amazing. Shwarma nachos , fish and chips are the best.
This place has been known for decades for having the best Lebanese food in Charlottetown. I absolutely love their chicken schwarma wrap. Its a small restaurant, very quiet and intimate, with excellent service.
Great Lebanese food. Fun Blues band upstairs!!
Fabulous Lebanese & middle eastern food, lots of different options. Shawarma is amazing. Great service, but make a reservation on weekends. Otherwise you can eat upstairs in the bar, which is definitely not as clean as the dining room.
Always authentic and delicious!
Lovely kind staff, great food. Gluten-free, vegetarian and vegan options are clearly visible on the menu.
Absolutely love this restaurant. We never walk away hungry. Tastes great and friendly service. My favorite in Charlottetown.
Food is great. Their chicken kebabs are perfectly seasoned and moist. Their daily specials offer great pricing for popular dishes. Great soups and salads, appetizer platters and amazing Lebanese rice. Can be a little pricey, but if you stick with lunch specials it s a bargain.
Cedars has been one of my favorites for over thirty years now. Excellent food.
Charming and cozy! We sat in a window booth and really enjoyed.
This place got the character of PEI! Great service as well!
Food great, service great, guys try it out I highly recommend
Absolutely recommend, we loved the atmosphere of this place ,the food is fantastic, portions were big and the service was great.
Cosy atmosphere, best Lebanese food on the island and always friendly service. Vegetarian options: Lots of vegan options Food : 5/5 |
A great place to go if you love Lebanese/Middle Eastern food. Great staff. Very kind.
Best shawarma in town! Very freindly staff and top notch service, making it very easy to go back. Parking: Street parking, but, usually space available in evenings and is free after 5pm. Wheelchair accessibility: Level entrance, off street sidewalk.
A bit of a wait but the food was 100% worth it
Excellent service by our waitress . Food portions nice . Comfortable booth.
A yearly tradition. The Mushroom Soup, ALONE!, is a memory to die for. Food : 5/5
I was really looking forward to some good Lebanese food but this missed the mark. Shawarma nachos were good if a little heavy on the pickles. It was the large platter we ordered as our entree that was disappointing. The generous portion of Kibbie was 2. Half the plate was hummus and the other half was tabouleh, both of which were surprisingly bland and under seasoned. I brought the tabouleh home because it s usually my favourite and I can re-dress it myself.
One of my favorite places to eat.
We ordered appetizers, which were fabulous. We also ordered meals but never received them. We watched people come and go Two hours later, still no meals so we asked for the check. To her credit, the waitress did immediately bring the check. However, there was no real apology-just an excuse that the kitchen was short-staffed and had to help Bubba with take-aways. If that was the case, why were people who arrived after we arrived served and finished before we finally gave up and asked for the check? This is likely a great restaurant (based on other reviews and our appetizers). However, we can t commit to saying that without a main meal served. We won t go back.
Thank you very much for the whole team
I take everyone to eat here. Their shawarmas are the best I have had and so addicting... so beware haha. For a good price and a comfy atmosphere you cant get any better!!
Smallish place with a neighborhood eatery feel. Excellent food -- just really, really authentic and good. Had the lentil soup, yabrak (stuffed grape leaves), and kafta. All were great. Even the rice that came with the kafta was good, with a complementary spice palette. They could do with some Lebanese coffee and tea; would have liked to try something regional with dinner. Helpful staff brought me some take away at the end. I read that this place has been here since 1979. I can see why. Parking: Free street parking on weekends and after 6pm at meters. Same for parking garage around the corner. Otherwise about $1.50 Can/hr.
The servers were so helpful and made sure they found us a table even though they were super busy! Very friendly place. Delicious food, authentic taste, great size portions. We will definitely be going back.
The decor in here has been the same for ages, but thats what I like about it. The food is excellent and the service is great. Only complaint is that the prices are a bit high.
Everything was amazing at this place. Food, service, atmosphere, everything 5/5. We got sautéed mushrooms, plant based burger and a chicken burger.
These folks are serving up perfectly delicious food, we can t wait to go back!
Loved the food! Great service too.
The best restaurant in town
I was going to make pick up order but the whoever answered the phone was rude and not being nice so I have cancelled the order
Went yesterday to pick up lunch for hubby and I. I ordered two Lentil Soups, and two small Tabbouleh salads... it came to $50.45!!! I was not expecting to pay that much, although later I found out how labour intensive Tabbouleh Salad is to make, than I realized that the price reflects the time it takes to make this delcious dish!! Will definitely be back to enjoy another Middle Eastern Delight.
Best food, great service.
Delicious falafel! Nice atmosphere.
I wish I could more stars, amazing quality food. Ill defenatly be back
We thoroughly enjoyed out dinner out. Nice atmosphere, friendly staff, absolutely amazing food! Cant wait to go back.
I loved it
Great food; friendly service!
I used to eat here every week until my order was so burnt whn I called to complain the waitress apologized said to come talk to owners for a comp..that was 7 months ago they kept ignoring me I just stopped calling and eating there which was to bad I loved the fish and chips
Was informed that any food order was done to extra satisfaction. Had lunch with the person who recommended this establishment- we were both disappointed with the food that seemed to heated up from yesterday. The server also informed us that had been a recent change in kitchen staff.
My favorite place to eat in Charlottetown!
Delicious
The staff are pretty nice and the service is good, a few times I ordered the fish and chips but they tasted like theyve been sitting in storage for far too long to be fresh, even the texture isnt all that great, and the fries, at least in my experience, were undercooked.
Cant go wrong with their Chicken Shawarma and Lebanese Rice!
Fantastic food! Lebanese combo with Tabouli was mouth watering along with an Island Goose IPA! Helpful friendly serving staff (Iwano) and caring owner!
The chicken shawarma was delicious and the staff were wondeful and friendly
We have certain dietary restrictions and Cedars willingly accommodated us
The House chicken is awesome.
Fast friendly service. Food was excellent
Always stop in for a falafel when I am in town. They are just so good Live this spot, always great food and friendly staff.
Food was fantastic, owner and staff are very friendly. Couldnt find better shawarma in Charlottetown. Highly recommend this restaurant if visiting from out of town.
The food was fantastic! Shawarma was outstanding and the Saroukh was even better. Wanted to try their falafel - I wish they had an appetizer portion of it.
Food was amazing and authentically Lebanese. If youre in the area and want to try something other than lobster, this restaurant is a must visit.
Yummy Lebanese food! With great staff and a warm, cosy place.
Amazing food and service. Flavorful, well cooked really delicious. If I go back to PEI I will go back there for sure
The place was great , we asked about halal meat but unfortunately there wasnt , however the barman (i think) was so kind and friendly he tried to search for halal restaurants nearby for us . But we ordered Haadok with fries . The taste was perfect and the portion was generous . And he delivered to our car where we were waiting . So i really recommend it
Dare I say hidden gem in a seafood town. Local spot for sure. Got the shawarma and WOW! Really nice waiter.
What a lovely restaurant. This was my introduction to Lebanese food, and the Saroukh was just amazing. The atmosphere is warm, the service is attentive and kind. Highly recommended.
Such a warm, welcoming atmosphere with amazing food! The lady who served us was very kind and the halloumi sandwich was delicious.
Food was wonderful, portions were massive
Terrific food
Cozy and delicious. Positively surprised!
Lots of gluten free options. Staff are friendly and food is always excellent
Had the fish and chips after landing in PEI. The option of battered or breaded was foreign to me so I went with breaded. it was delicious. Enjoyed the jazz night too
Service was great, but food was ok
Legendary. Cedars is the reigning champ of PEI. Make it part of your visit.
Loved their Chicken Shawarma plate. Flavourful rice/chicken.
Chicken shawarma with Lebanese rice is the best meal on this whole friggn island.
Amazing server and great food
Always has great food and people! Decor is older, but is very clean!
Always good food
Great food, beer and service.
Went fish & chips no fish available. Last time for that place for me
Amazing food as always
great veggie burger
Staple of Charlottetown.
Food was fabulous and so was the service - the shwarma is to die for,,!
Great ambiance and fabulous service. We will be back.
Never go to this place, he is total racist. We went and then asked for table he had table and said none is available and when we asked for wait time he said I don t know and when we asked appro time he said I don t know may be an 1 hour 30 mins. And very next min our friends went in he said table is available
Tasty food shared with good friends. Service was friendly and efficient. Not the first time here and definitely not the last
Awesome evening made better with Danielle who had great advice about the Truck Rolling Ice cream. Amazing food good service
Chicken Shawarma was awesome, nice little selection of the menu. Wait staff was friendly attentive but not overly attentive and cute atmosphere
I love this place. Attentive polite staff and great food
I salivate when I think of this restaurant. Their shawarma here is the real deal, it will become the shawarma you judge all other shawarmas by. Incredible Caesars too if you like them. Friendly courteous staff and love the atmosphere. Worth every penny!
First time visit for us. Multiple times for our company there. Very welcoming staff and a cozy atmosphere. 3 had shawarma and 1 halibut fush. All very filling portions. Very tasty. Would definitely return to try more Lebanese dishes. Sorry cannot comment on prices as family picked up our share. Well worth it.
We needed something quick and Cedars came through. The haddock was a bit small so Im glad there were two on my plate. The risotto was .... different! I liked it! Overall, from the menu choice we were expecting so-so, but we were very pleasantly surprised.
I go for the Lebonise Combo.
Fantastic place. Very consistent, always good.
Some things never change. Cedars still has fantastic food and friendly service. Love it every time!
Had a couple great meals during my visit. The staff was lovely and the food was outstanding. Ill definitely be coming back next time Im in town. My favourites were the fish&chips and the Shish Taouk.
Easy choice for consistently amazing food. They have been around for a while and serve some of the best mediterranean-inspired dishes.
Fine, authentic food.
The kafta was reeeaaaalllllly good, and the rice was downright delicious!
Awesome food and service!!
Great food and service.
Food is always on point. Theres a reason its been around so long. Chicken shawarma is the best.
The best shawarma and falafel in Charlottetown.
Ordered chicken shawarma with side rice, it was so over-priced and not good at all! Poor quality and quantity!
If you ever happen to find yourself in Charlottetown , PE, you might want to give this place a try. Located right off Great George street, its a authentic and popular restaurant, served Lebanese and Canadian cuisine . In addition to their fish and chips, which they claim to be known for, you can also acquire a variety of shawarmas and sandwiches. The fish and chips are tender and delicious in a thin and crisp batter.
Nice Lebanese restaurant with a nice cozy atmosphere. It includes a restaurant on the ground floor and a bar in the second floor.
Cozy spot. The vegetarian options were great. Waiters and staff friendly
I visited Cedars Eatery three times while I was in Charlottetown. I loved it! The food, staff, atmosphere, everything was GREAT! I tried the chicken shawarma, fish and chips and a really yummy soup! I also had a chance to check out the jazz night, which was pretty cool.
I love the food. It s warm and filling. Very tasty but not greasy. And got options for vegetarians. Seems to be healthy food as well.
