11 Great George St, Charlottetown, PE C1A 4J7, Canada
Upbeat outfit for casual seafood dishes, plus an airy patio with marina views & live summer music.
**Review: Peak Quay Restaurant, PEI** Nestled on the waterfront and perched above a flight of stairs, Peak Quay offers an open-air dining experience with a charming view of the harbor. The restaurant's setting is pretty straightforward, embodying a relaxed, party-style atmosphere that feels more like a university hangout than a fine dining establishment. The tables are packed closely together, catering to a typically louder crowd, which adds to the lively, casual vibe of the place. Live music plays in the background, contributing to the festive ambiance and making it a popular spot for those looking to unwind. However, when it comes to service, Peak Quay leaves much to be desired. Service was notably slow, with long waits for everything from receiving menus to ordering and eventually getting the bill. If prompt and attentive service is what you’re after, this may not be the place for you. As for the food, it’s best described as basic. While everyone seemed to enjoy their meals, there was nothing particularly special or memorable about the offerings. The fish and chips, a staple for many seaside eateries, were disappointing—one order had to be sent back, and the other lacked flavor, likely due to old cooking oil. The fish cakes were just passable, again not standing out in any significant way. In conclusion, there are certainly better dining options around, especially if you're looking for a more refined experience or quality food. However, if you're in the mood to relax with a few beers, enjoy some live music, and take in the waterfront view, Peak Quay could be worth a visit. Note, these images are not mine but they show the atmosphere very well.
good food and good service visit today and we are arranged to table which is facing wi the the seaview, so so comfortable., the waitress is so polite and helpful, also food quality is good except the fish and chip in which the fish batter is quite thick, need improvement. also the chowder has a lot of meat and potatoes and less soup, need to improve too ! otherwise, all good !
One of the best patios my wife and I have ever been on. Beautiful views of the harbor and the marina. Staff are super friendly and accommodating. We have never been disappointed by the food. We've docked at the marina a number of times with family and friends to enjoy the patio.
My wife and I stopped in for a fantastic lunch. She had their lobster roll with Caesar and I had the smoke salmon with homemade chowder. We were really impressed. The lobster roll was incredible. The lobster was fresh, had a kiss of the sea, and cooked perfectly. Definitely worth the price and stop in Charlottetown. The smoked salmon was delicious with the perfect mix of cream cheese, capers, red onion and tomatoes. Lastly their chowder was one of best I’ve had with lots of fresh fish, mussels and clams. WOW!
Great spot on the Charlottetown waterfront. Busy, but huge. Didn't have to wait for a table, but I imagine sometimes you might have to wait. Good selection on the menu. The smash burger was quite good. Recommend two patties for a better meat to bread ratio. The crispy chicken tacos were good, if maybe a bit bland. Service was great.
I came here for dinner with my family on our East coast tour. We got off to a good start with bacon wrapped scallops and drinks. For the mains we ordered the Herb Crusted Haddock with salad, Marry Me Chicken, Mussels, Seafood bake and PEI Lobster roll. The reason for the two stars is the lobster roll, and seafood bake were a big disappointment. The sandwich was full of nothing but meat from the claw which my daughter described as chewy. I tried a piece to confirm it. In contrast, for the same price as what we paid in Halifax by Peggy's Cove for a lobster roll, we got a sandwich that was 100% lobster tail with no claw meat. The seafood bake was also disappointing, as the portion was quite small - definitely not filling. As for the ambience, there was live music but we didn't care for it because the performer didn't have the best voice. They would would have been better with playing music over the speakers instead. A shout out to our sever, Rosy, who did her best to take care of everything despite a bad experience with two of the dishes. Kudos to the manager as well for coming out and listening to our feedback and kindly removing the lobster roll from our bill. He said he would look into what happened. Time will tell. If you're reading this review and are planning to try the lobster roll, ask if it is made with actual lobster tail meat rather than chopped pieces of claw meat. If not, avoid ordering it or go elsewhere to get it.
The oyster happy hour is start from 3:00PM, and the latest price is $1.5/ea. My family spent a wonderful time here. The only slight imperfection was the hot weather, but no air conditioning inside
The fish and chips were very good. The fish was nice and thick. No scrimping here. Our server was amazing, she even tolerated my dad jokes.🙄 It would have been nice to have some live music, but overall, it was a great visit. Nice to see they stepped up their tartar sauce. See you soon.
The online websites taughted the PEI lobster rolls as the absolute best anywhere which I looked forward to but now must completely disagree with. The meat was thoroughly tasteless except for black pepper. So, that was my first and last lobster roll at this restaurant.
Busy spot with great food and even better staff ...
Nice beer nice views!
Great food and drinks. Mussels for $1.50 from 3-5pm. Great view of the harbour and cruise ships.
Very busy and well worth the short wait. Fish and the seafood bake were excellent. Peakes salad was perfect match for seafood .
This was my 4th fish and chips in as many days on PEI. Beer battered! Think I like it better than bread crumbs. Got the Wharf Duo, it was great, and came with a nice salad that was a good break from the potatoes that I ve had in every other meal. So I guess I didn t actually have fish and chips, more like fish and a salad. Ambience is awesome, except we were fighting with bees the whole time. Great place though.
Upper outside of the restaurant offers a good view. Ordered basic fish and chips, waited , and waited, and waited. You get the picture. Paid for the drinks, and left. Lots of other places to eat on the island Food
I go here once a year with visiting g-kids. This year our server gave well above excellent service. Elizabeth made us all feel welcome and she quickly caught on to my g-son s autism and hearing impairment without missing a beat. She was attentive and patient AND all the while made him feel like he was the man of the table. He even made special mention after the meal how it was the best experience in a restaurant from a service staff in his life, all of 13 years!! The food was amazing as always I share the spinach red pepper dip with the g-daughter and chicken fingers and fries usually for the whole bunch of us. Thanks Elizabeth for making Rowan s day!!
dinner was mediocre and expensive. definitely way better places to eat in PEI.
Here on vacation. Food and drinks were good. Jojo took great care of us. Live entertainment on stage.
Visiting from Ontario and Peake s Quay came highly recommended. The food was good but sadly our server, Jordan ruined the experience. We got in before 9pm and after our meal, we asked for the desert menu - only to be told the kitchen was closed. We paid and quite bizarre we thought because the website says the restaurant is open till 11pm. We asked to speak with the manager who apologized and said we could still order deserts. The manager offered us the desert on the house but we insisted on paying. We would ve been happy to leave without a review, however Miss Jordan thought it wise to present us with the bill for the desert prior to it being served. We had to ask her to bring the bill back after the desert. Quite the kerfuffle! Won t be coming back.
Ive been to Peakes a few times this year for food and drinks, everytime we all had great service and the food and drinks were fantastic.
It was a great experience. Minus the dueling music of various radios on the patio - which was a little overstimulating when added to the noise of the crowd. Great food, great service.
Good food and service. Great view!
Great food hard for someone with a disability alot of stairs great food and.value
Excellent food and excellent service from Noah!!! 2 thumbs up!
The team took great care of our group of about 40 - excellent food, service and atmosphere!
Great fish tacos! Definitely not the best lobster rolls youll have. Chicken wings werent great. Otherwise, Ive heard good things about the rest of the menu. Live music from the gazebo down on the boardwalk most times I was there. The atmosphere was nice and there was a lovely view out to the water and along the waterfront.
What a beautiful place to grab a bite! The view was incredible, great selection of beers, and friendly waitstaff. Big time recommend!
Not worth the hype
Excellent service and very fresh lobsters.
Delicious food and excellent service! Being the first time we tried fresh oysters, we had an amazing waitress who talked us through how to eat and enjoy them. We also had the bacon-wrapped scallops, the island mussels and the seafood chowder; they were all incredible! Amazing waterfront views as well!
Great mussels!
Great atmosphere right next to the water with live music at night. Food was prepared and presented very well and tasted great!
Great spot with great vibes. Excellent chowder and awesome oyster happy hour.
Nice atmosphere on the deck with live music. Service was good. Food not so much: Ordered a single patty burger and sweet potato fries. Fries were okay, though Im not sure why they gave ranch sauce with sweet potato fries (would have preferred some kind of chipotle aoli). The patty on my burger was about the thickness of a fast food burger and the flavour was just fair. The cost to value is just not there imo.
Very ordinary, good but not excellent to get a 4.
This is a great place to relax and have a delicious dinner. The outdoor dining area has nice views. We had the fish tacos which were fresh and tasty.
Loved this restaurant with live music, great food and our sweet server, Jojo. A lovely place to celebrate our anniversary in Charlotte Town! Try the chowder, lobster roll and the peaks salad. Divine!
This is the best location on the water! You can sit on the patio, listen to music and have something to eat and drink. The oysters were ok but they served them with ?what looked liked and tasted like ketchup. Please add some horseradish. Food
Had a snack and drink overlooking to boardwalk, harbor and live entertainment.
Such a beautiful location, especially of your closer to the water. We ordered the frozen aperol Spritz. It was good, but it was a bit disappointing because we found the strawberry flavourful too overpowering, so it just tasted like a frozen strawberry drink. My friend ordered Calamari, which she said was amazing. I ordered the chicken sandwich which was on of the best chicken sandwiches Ive ever had.
Everyone at the table liked their food. I had the burger and it was great. Fries were really good too and not over seasoned. The only downside to the resraurant was they didnt have local pei beers. It seemed they were going out of their way to not have craft beer on tap but lots and lots of moosehead beers. Probably an agreement with moosehead if i were to guess. Either way it was a good experience. Big patio. Good friendly service and a descent menue. Would return.
First time here. We had the potato chip nachos which were really good. Unfortunately they charge $1 each if you need more salsa or sour cream. We also had the seafood bake and it was delicious. It came with a salad with a delicious balsamic dressing. Yummy!! We sat on the patio overlooking the courtyard where there was live music. A great fun, laid back and funky place to be.
Would recommend looking elsewhere in Charlottetown. Chain vibes and food quality. Quite overcrowded. Disinterested service as well.
Average three stars because of the location and good weather. The food was really bad. We had to eat some McDonalds afterwards to wash away the bad taste in the mouth. The service was a okay but the server gave me a spoon that was not washed for my chowder. If the restaurant was located elsewhere, it would have gone out of business long time ago. Probably a good spot to drink but not to eat. The worst part was childrens menu for $10.99. I never had my kid spitting pasta out and this was the first incident. He alnost cried that the food was so bad...sigh..
Arrived in Charlottetown shortly after lunch and went to Peakes Quay. Delicious! Split the Wharf Duo and Lobster Roll with my spouse and the kids had fish and chips. The apps were great and I cant recommend the Peakes Salad - their homemade dressing is the best. Kathrine was a super server!
The staff at this establishment are excellent. We were fortunate to have Noah as our server recently, and he definitely went out of his way to be kind and courteous to my husband and me, as we celebrated our anniversary. Service : 5/5
Great service, very good food!
Upper deck overlooking Charlottetown harbour. Come for the oysters, stay for the rest of the good food and view.
If youre looking for value for your money, this place might not be it. While the cocktails were decent, they were so light on alcohol that you could hardly tell it was there. The meals came out fast, but the lobster roll was a major letdown it tasted more like a chicken salad, with barely any hint of seafood, yet they charge $30 for it. For four people, just having one drink and a main course each, the bill came to over $200, even after tipping for what was admittedly great service. Not worth the high price tag.
Very nice place to hang out.
Fantastic meal, service and atmosphere. Noah gave us the best service out of any restaurant weve been to on the island, and their food was phenomal as well. Noah was also great to our daughter as well, giving her a little plate of lemon and orange slices to keep her busy. Well be back for certain before we go home!
2 of us had brunch. Caesars were excellent and well priced. Beef tenderloin hash however was dry & tough. There was a very small portion of the beef mixed amongst some fried potatoes, but really I didnt wish for any more of it because it was not good. The potatoes themselves were hot and much better than the beef. We were very happy with our server who was a very personable and professional young lady named Bree, I believe. She was attentive and good at her job. 5 stars to her.
Good late night atmosphere with live music
Very good food
Great spot to grab a drink and some food overlooking the waterfront. Amazing lobster roll!
We eat delicious pulled pork Tacos there. Service was very good. Geht our recommendation. Food : 5/5
Everything marked gluten friendly on this menu has been in a deep fryer with gluten products. So if you have a proper gluten allergy and can t eat seafood you actually can t eat anything here. Weird how you would never see something cross contaminated with nuts marked as nut friendly. Actually offer allergen friendly options or don t.
Its the perfect place for a delicious lobster roll. Great for cruisers with elevated outdoor seating and the ship in the distance.
Brilliant location at the harbor with a view, large covered high terrace or open space. Attentive service, excellent cuisine. Fresh fish and lobster. Gladly again!
Nice location with view of harbor. This year they added smoked salmon on a bagel to menu (a personal must). The accompanying salad is outstanding with a blueberry dressing that is super delicious. Friendly waiting staff adds to an easily repeated visit.
Food was okay and price is touristy, but with good view of the harbour. Reason I said was okay was shareable food were not a lot.
Fresh seafood! We got the oysters, fish and chips and white wine! Great food, amazing view of the ocean, and great service!
Great place to see music
Walked in on a slow, rainy Saturday night in July and were seated quickly (with a lot of empty tables around us). We sat for about 15 minutes, and no one came to take our drink order or anything. And many servers passed us going to other tables, so we left. Went to another place down the road (Lone Oak) and had water and a beer within 5 minutes of walking in the door!
Amazing experience at the lounge! As soon as we came up, the little ones got tended right away. We asked for a seat with a view of the soccer game. The staff went the extra mile and pulled the projector screen down! Thank you all for making a hectic lunch that much easier!!!
Excellent place to enjoy lunch with the family, staff always friendly and the food very delicious Wheelchair accessibility: The restaurant is on the second floor but has an elevator for those with wheelchairs.
We had a great time at Peaks Quay. The food and drinks were excellent.
Unreal expensive for the level of service and Quality of food you receive. They love to take your order and drop it off and then disappear for the rest of your experience. God forbid you need an extra napkin or maybe want to spend another 14 bucks for a drink. Will be our last time.
Great view, nice breeze, cold drinks, and good people.
Hostesses sat us right away as there was 6 of them at the front counter. Took about 15 minutes before any waitress stopped to ask if we wanted anything. The place was about 1/4 full so not that busy. Lots of waitresses walking around or sitting at bar talking. Drinks were not good at all. Lobster roll was ok. Do not recommend this place.
Great service, and amazing food! Staff is super friendly, and they have an awesome in-house beer.
Great food. Nice patio. Friendly staff
Great drinks. Foods amazing and the bar staff are top notch
We ended up here with the basketball team for supper. Food was good, service was good, the only complaint is that they dont have lots of options for drinks. They mostly have Moosehead products.
Fresh seafood. Friendly staff. Love the alfresco dining. Kid-friendliness: Kids menu and high chair available Food : 4/5 |
We had a great experience. The thing we enjoyed the most was our waitress. Sophie checked on us a lot and was very kind and humorous. We both thought it was above and beyond service!
Food was tasty but not mind blowing, but the view makes it worth it.
Waitress was wonderful Very pleasant meal Food
Friendly staff Very good food
Love this place!!
Oysters were great, lobster outstanding, view is breathtaking, the dessert was not the best, and it was at full capacity when we ate so the service was a little slow
The meal was delicious. My husband had the steak sandwich and I had fish and chips. Great service and our dog Zoe was looked after with a bowl of water. Thank you
Had the fish and chips here. Very yummy! Cooked perfectly. A great balance of crispy and flaky fish. Beautiful view of the water.
Excellent service, and the Seafood Bake was incredible!
Right on the water, definitely a tourist spot! I would go again
Delicious scallops!! Amazing service!!
Healthy amount of lobster on the roll, great view of the ocean
they didn t let me in even though i had 5 pieces of ID. would not recommend going there.
Could use more vegan options, I sad to see the veggie burger gone from the menu
I tried the lobster rolls at Peakes Quay Restaurant, and I must say, it was absolutely fantastic! The lobster meat was incredibly fresh and flavorful, and the buns themselves were perfectly toasted. The portion size was generous, leaving me feeling fully satisfied. The service was friendly and attentive, creating a pleasant dining experience. The restaurant had a cozy atmosphere, making it a great place to enjoy a delicious meal. I highly recommend trying their lobster rolls if youre a seafood lover. You wont be disappointed! Dietary restrictions: They are very accommodating!
Live music, great views, wonderful service and amazing food. Great place to enjoy a fabulous evening.
Out of the ordinary place for lunch. Good food, but pricy.
Insanely good burger
If you look up the word mediocre in the dictionary you might just find a picture of this place. Its a nice view and the service was ok but definitely not great. Food was bland, zero presentation, small quantity. Really not much else to say. Id honestly recommend going anywhere else. Kid-friendliness: The server gave us pictures for the kids to color and Oreos for dessert so I guess thats something...
We ve eaten here about 6 times per summer/fall for the last 5 years. Tonight we had the chowder and the Caesar salad plus a bucket of beer. We ve always enjoyed our meals there but the last 2 times have been terrible. I just had to say something this time. The chowder broth had good flavour but lacked substance (next to no seafood). Literally maybe 4 pieces (one shrimp, one bay scallop and two pieces of white fish). This was the worst chowder I ve ever experienced. Not sure why the food has taken a turn for the worse but 2 times is too much for us.
Have been here twice. First time was great. Second time not so much. Disappointed doesnt cover what we thought of the food. There was no taste if seafood in the brushetta, the scallops were the tiny bay scallops, and all the added flavoring took away from the fact it was a seafood dish. The lobster roll might fly with tourists but Ive had far better. Also, even though the service was great and friendly - I dont find bicycle shorts to be appropriate attire for a server. Just one persons opinion.
It was nice sitting up at the balcony looking at the water. Great atmosphere. We only had mussels and a few drinks, so its not comprehensive, but everything was great. I highly suggest getting those mussels. Prices were reasonable too, for being waterfront.
Staff are very nice. Great atmosphere
Great meal, quick service. No photos cuz we scarfed the food down to quick! Had the crab and lobster dip and mussels, needed a spoon for the soupy yummy goodness!
Ordered 2 appetizers to share with my sister and they were excellent, mussels, crab and lobster dip, more than enough to share, friendly service and awesome Maritime atmosphere.
The lobster roll and oysters were great!
The service was really good. Ordered right away Had the fish and chips. The fish was greasy but, I did not realize just how greasy it was tell I went to heat up my left overs the next day. I took a full piece of fish out of the fridge with the fries and let it warm up a bit about a half hour, put it in the oven. Checked on it after 15 mins and it was swimming in grease. I tossed it out. It was okay fresh but not the next day. I gave this restaurant a 4 star for the overall feel of the place. However with my other 10 days in Charlottetown I did not return.
Sorry the musician when we were there was less than ok. I want to support artists... but my friend...please work on your style.... my husband is a professional singer and we want to support you...but .... 7/11...
Great view of the water and yummy food! Friendly staff also.
Great food. Fun staff ! Amazing views and Eathan the majician was so good
Live this place. The food was amazing and the prices were great
Best place I have experienced on the island
Fantastic food
Amazing views, great food, and friendly service. We make sure to stop in every time we visit PEI. Its my favorite local restaurant
A lovely place to relax and take your partner or kids. Kid-friendliness: Lots of open spaces to walk and play. Food : 4/5 |
Great services!
Amazing! Live entertainment, food was delicious. We had our dog and was allowed to bring him on the outdoor patio! The waitresses were fantastic!
Friendly service however food was mediocre; Strip loin was tough, hamburger was overdone, mussels were just ok and fish taco s describe pineapple salsa but pineapple seemed to be missing. Probably won t return.
It was a great, fun meal. If you like sea food you can eat it here, if you dont there is other food. There is delicious food. The service was effecient.
Good food, good service
Great local seafood, service was fantastic. We were limited for time and they served us quickly.
Good was good and the live music was awesome!
This was my first Lobster Roll Her on Pei. It was so good. I ate every bit and the fries were delicious. Food
Refused to serve our group as we were more than 4. Area was fully open but....were told the kitchen would be too slow. No wonder tourism is not to par. They dont want business.
Food and service were excellent. Very enjoyable lunch.
Had a great time, mussels were excellent.
Stopped in for lunch on the patio. Started with a seafood bruschetta then fish & chip. Good food, great service. (A++ Kirsty) Will return Parking: Parked at the convention center and walked over on the boardwalk.
Do not get the cup of chowder, you have to get the bowl. Soo good!!!
Thank you installing the small elevator. It allow me to enjoy my visit. I sat at an ocean front table, ordered a Mojito and the mussels. The atmosphere was excellent to people watch and the mussels delicious. Its my second visit in 5 years and recommend visitors to stop and enjoy when in town.
Thanks, JoJo, for the fantastic and super friendly service. Hope to see you again. PS, thanks for the scallops that werent on the menu. It made my day.
We were a Party of Five and consensus was that the food was okay. Fish was very oily and the tartar sauce was not great. The view was excellent though and the little shopping area around the restaurant fun.
Very pleasant!
We ate here tonight, almost the first place that we came across in arriving in Charlottetown. It has a great spot by the harbour, with a large patio. There were lots of staff and service was good. We had the pesto flatbread to share, which was delicious. I had the Peakes Salad, it was large and I liked it. My wife had the chicken sando, which she also enjoyed. Better than we expected all round. Vegetarian options: There are some vegetarian options here Wheelchair accessibility: Looks like theres a lift up to the patio!
Really nice experience. The restaurant has a large outdoor upstairs patio to enjoy the summer it has umbrellas and shades. Great view over It Peakes Quay Wharf. Watch the boats and people enjoying the downtown water front. It also has indoor dining and bar. Friendly and good service and food. Wheelchair accessibility: Peakes Quay has an elevator for wheel chair access to the 2nd floor restaurant, this works very well.
Excellent service and food! We loved the view that the outdoor patio gives of the boardwalk. There was nice little shops around for shopping and some live entertainment on the boardwalk.
We needed a place to have lunch with our dog who was visiting the island with us. This place did not disappoint one bit!! Their dog friendly patio had such a fun atmosphere. The staff were all lovely! They even brought a bowl of ice water for our dog! The food was absolutely amazing! And the cost was very reasonable. There was even live music playing on the boardwalk beside the patio.
This was probably the best meal my husband and I have had on our entire Maritimes vacation! The seafood bubbly was sooooo yummy and perfectly portioned and the lobster roll was such a classic you can t go wrong with, but the most memorable thing was actually the Peake s salad. The salad was sooooooooooo flavourful, filling and the blueberry vinaigrette dressing and goats cheese combo was just incredible. We left wanting to order more salad to take home!!! This delicious meal, paired with the live music, beautiful patio view of the ocean and the perfect rainy evening weather made this meal our most favourite on this entire trip. We will definitely be back in the future!
The sea food bruschetta is great.
Great place to have a meal on the ocean. I had scallops and a lobster risotto. Amazing. We had a big group too, but food came out quickly and tasting great. Good job!
Bad food... service was slow. Love the decor tho!
Just popped in for a frosty beverage. Great service, nice patio, great views and people watching.
Went out for a girls night & the food/drink didnt disappoint!! It was delicious! Live music was nice too, loved the choice of songs too!
Lovely restaurant on Charlottetown harbour. Food was quite tasty and service was friendly. Wheelchair accessibility: Has an elevator for those unable to use the stairs
had seafood bruschetta.(GSO) a ring of nacho chips and a little bit of seafood in the middle. if this was called seafood nachos, that would be fine i guess. server very friendly, nice atmosphere. Wheelchair accessibility: Lift
Tourist trap place, not horrible but nothing memorable. Good gluten free options though. Friendly enough staff. Dietary restrictions: Gluten free lobster rolls
The lobster roll was delicious, they did not hold back on the lobster, packed full of flavour
Had a great visit to this place. First off, location is great. We sat outside on the deck with a view of the ocean. We stopped by for their mussel happy hour which I believe was priced at $1 each. My wife had a bunch and said they were great! We each had a beer. Happy with the local selection. Prices were as expected being a waterfront location. Would return again and recommend.
Amazing food, very friendly staff and a great view
The best oysters! And the service was impeccable!
Phenomenal food + drinks + service with a view!
Amazing food, service, and huge covered patio that was dog friendly! The best salmon dish I ve ever had, I wish I had the recipe for the glaze!
Best mussels Ive ever had. Being from Long Island, NY, thats saying something! Outside seating a plus.
We really enjoyed sitting on the patio deck overlooking the harbour in July. The service was friendly and quick and the food was delicious. Thank you!
The place has dog friendly patio, my puppy enjoyed it. Seafood was absolutely fresh!!! Lobster rolls was a bit pricy due to off season, but if you are in the area why not to try?!!! My personal recommendation is fish cake! Fresh and crispy fish cake comes with bowl of salad! Enjoyed with moosehead radler, loved it a lot! One more thing, if you are oyster lover, enjoy the better price start from 3pm lol Service was great as well!
