261 Boulevard d'Anjou, Châteauguay, Quebec J6J 2P3, Canada
Enduring, family-run Chinese-Canadian buffet with an old-school feel, for lunch or dinner.
Absolute best EggRolls in the world! Moved away around 1990, been in Ontario, absolute CRAP out HERE! I'd drive 500km for them any day! Don't move to Ontario, out of Quebec, if you are passionate about food!
Food is delicious!! The actual buffet part is small which is a good thing as there is no waste and the items they have are the best. The staff is really friendly. The interior is dated reminds me of restaurants from the 80’s
The buffet was 25.95 per person. Very expensive for what they offer in their small limited buffet. Wonton soup, Soggy egg rolls, very chewy spareribs, some other spicy beef rib dish, sad shrimp, wieners (never understood that offering) macaroni ? Chicken wings, chicken balls, fried rice. One vegetable dish. Nothing was great. The young gals working there were polite and cleared the plates quickly. Best item was the red and green jello!!! I had an indigestion and I really ate lightly as most of the choices I did not touch! We had eaten here years before a few times and it was better than this especially if you chose a la carte rather than the buffet. The restaurant itself is very old school unique oriental design. Photo of ceiling.
No more sechuan dishes available, only old-school cantonese dishes like dry garlic spareribs and pineapple soo guy. Lunch buffet selection was underwhelming for $21.95
If I could give zero stars I would. I am writing this review on behalf of my friend who went there with her mother and they both got food poisoning. She was sick for days and her mother’s stomach was sore. She said everything tasted off and looked like it was sitting out for days. They do reuse old food, which is disgusting. DO NOT GO HERE. I hope someone gets a health inspector over there, as this has happened to other people before! Also not to mention there isn’t much selection and is VERY overpriced.
Quantity over quality. Veryyy basic taste, few options. The dessert cookie which looked store bought was the best out of everything. The reason for my inferior review is demanding for tip proactively. $55 + tip for 2 for this food was too much..
Have loved coming here for decades! It's always a joy to see Mrs Lee behind the cash. You will never eat a better egg roll anywhere than from here. Buffet or take out the food is always fantastic.
The General Tao chicken is by far the best around. NO "glitches" or fat lurking under too much batter! Just wonderful pieces of actual chicken in a slightly spicy sauce. Can always ask for hotter. Their egg rolls are actually spring rolls and delicious. It is the old style Chinese restaurant food, and it's really good! Just waiting for them to open again!💕👍
Very good and highly recommended Parking: Very good
Excellent all around!
I have loved this restaurant since my childhood. The food tastes as good as I remembered. The almond cookies are excellent.
A little too expensive for what is offered in meals compared to another buffet like continental buffet but the service and the food very good
Half of the restaurant is closed and the welcome is not warm and the lady doesnt know how to speak French and I dont think English either. Its way too expensive for what it offers very little variety and the majority is very dry there is no music no atmosphere but the waitress is polite.
Very fatty, very ordinary food, biscuit dessert and small squares of jello.
Awful food. Rice was burnt. Beef and broccoli had no taste.
Ive been going to this restaurant for 30 years. This restaurant had the best egg rolls. Sorry this is no longer the case. In addition, the rest of the buffet was tasteless. Plus the exorbitant price for a midweek lunch buffet. Now I understand other peoples criticisms. Its disappointing. Parking: If you arrive early, there is no problem parking.
, the food was very dry, cold and seemed to have been there for a while already. Very little variety and choice. Extremely expensive for what it offers Never again
Not enough choice, too expensive for what there is
Good but not much choice and the same for 30 years
Its good. Its an all-you-can-eat buffet.
70 bucks + tip for 1 adult and 2 children on a Friday night. Food was horribly bland and seemed watered down. Never again. Think the egg role i dropped on the floor 40 years ago was still there.
The food is good and always stocked in supply. Hot and fresh
if you want to fill your stomach with hot food and lots of what they have, then you ll be good. If you re looking for variety , I suggest you go somewhere else. This was the least variety for the most amount of money in my 54 years
Very good, but pricy for what you get
Typical American Chinese food, basic but OK. The buffet is good but expensive. There is an à la carte menu as well. This is your once a year excess.. Food
Travel back in time!
Very expensive for the quality, very simple variety and dessert there is only stiff jello, almond cookie and ice cream. We went on a Saturday.
Just needs General Tao and this place would be fantastic
Avoid! Not fresh, tasteless, too much frying
No choice. No salad bar. Hardly any vegetables. And just jello and almond cookies for dessert. $27 for a dinner. You go there when youre not hungry.. Very nice waitress though. Only the egg roles are delicious.
Just good
Good lunch buffet, hot and fresh
All you can eat buffet always good
Delicious food. Hot buffets. Good atmosphere, soft music.
The buffets are too expensive for children aged 6-7
Unbelievably horrible experience. Will never return and can t understand why this place is still open. Just horrible food choices. Vegetarian options: None
Small buffet food I quite tasty, however need some fish dishes on the buffet
No aquarium
It s still good, Asian decor and fast service!
Order and Im missing half of my order. I went back and one of the employees redid my entire order. He gave me good service. I advise you to check your order before leaving. The rolls, pineapple chicken and Chinese vegetable soup are very good. The chicken in number 4 was fatty, but passable. The chicken mac was lacking in chicken. The big problem was the chicken rice. I dont recommend it. It was definitely overcooked, too dry. It also lacked chicken and was dry. The fried noodles for the soup also tasted out of date. Vegetarian options: To see on the menu
Delicious! Smiling staff! I recommend
Good buffet despite the lack of variety the imperial rolls are delicious
Ordinary, nothing more..
excellent Chinese I love it
A return in time! Nothing has changed since 1967! A real time capsule, the food is good but there is better, the staff helpful and kind
Very good, very good service
Excellent little restaurant that I visit at least 10 times a year! for over 30 years! I now live in Sherbrooke and I always want to go to this Chinese restaurant! WOW The homemade egg rolls are delicious and dont look like the flat and tasteless ones of other Chinese restaurant buffets! l Tastes are not up for discussion! Try the almond cookies as they used to be crumbly and excellent!
Been going there for 50 years. Decor has not changed, but egg rolls are the best anywhere.
Refreshingly authentic..fresh ingredients and the waitress was outstanding. The ambiance and the all encompassing layout remenicent of a time gone by. No kidding I thoroughly enjoyed the food.
Don t take the detour for that
I ordered the food I didn t get what I order it was overpriced for what I got it was the first time I ever order from there someone told me the food was great and it turned out the food is not great at all for disappointed waste of money what hours are there again I don t think so
No choice, cold food
Always a delight to eat there!!!!
Very bland food, Way over priced $21.50 an adult for a very minimal amount of food,,Not very authentic tasting Very not worth visiting
Excellent like the good old Chinese restaurants.
Ive been excited to eat here for awhile and maybe it was bcuz of it being the lunch buffet and not diner but wasnt very good and lacked flavor. sorry to say but very disappointed. Very friendly service though.
Excellent food but lots of fried foods, few vegetables but super excellent egg rolls. The price after pandemic +/- $20 is a bit high and even higher for the evening buffet. Parking: Easy on site and free.
Excellent in every way, Sun K has been in Chateauguay for 55 years in 2022! A restaurant managed by the same family ever since!
Simple but really good
I really like this restaurant. Their egg rolls are worth the detour alone! A must in the area.
Very good price, a little high
We have been going there since 1969. Always good food and friendly service.
The food is really good and Ms. Lee is charming! The waitresses are part of the family!
Best egge rolls in the world I kid u not .The cook and service is the best ever.Everything is good good
Not a very big buffet but really good
2 star for the decor...We entered and left when we saw so little choice on site
Not a little back to school because I say it was firm
IF you want a standard Chinese restaurant like in the old days, you are in the right place!!!
Favorite place in chateauguay. Cheap price to eat as much as you want. Service is great so is the food.
Dégeu
Poor buffet, more than doubtful freshness, meals from the day before and the day before, ironed, all for $18. From theft. Go somewhere else, quickly.
I find that there is not enough variety for $13.75 for a dinner buffet. Some dishes are very good and others are much less so. The last time I came, about ten years ago, I was disappointed but it was better this time.
Once was enough
I have fond memories of this restaurant - have treated myself there numerous times over the past thirty years- always satisfied. This is a time-honoured institution and God bless the owners who worked so hard and gave much joy to their clientele.
I think its the best Chinese restaurant Ive ever eaten at!
Buffet was great as always and the waitress was super as always. Best won ton and Eggrolls ever
One of the best Chinese restaurants to eat a Chinese buffet, no pizza, smoked meat or anything other than delicious Chinese food. Soup and egg roll the best I have ever eaten with friendly and courteous service
still good but preferable says to go before 7 a.m. because the food is not super fresh but otherwise good restaurant
Very courteous
Did not like it at all. Will never go again.
Very disappointed
Degeulasse I do not recommend everything smells of fish in the buffet and there are no curious fish
Little stock for a buffet. For what there was it was ok.
Good place for chinese
Not really clean but good and not expensive.
First and last time we order from this place, diluted sauce,no wong ton soup with menu #4 for 2 and cost was 30.99 for not much in the bowls. Very disapointed. No more
Consistency. Many many years I have been going to this restaurant. Reasonably priced buffet, typical selection, hot, kept well stocked. Nice and friendly personnel.
Best egg rolls!
Two stars for the price. The food is good, but there isnt much choice. The buffet is missing meat. The price is too high, super expensive. The owner at the cashier doesnt let people touch the card machine. Weird.
Best egg rolls. Been going there for 25 years.
Not good at all
This place doesnt have as many choices as big buffet, but the food if pretty good and its been opened forever, so its either doing something right or is a front for the Chinese mafia.
The food is average, the prices are much too high and the portions are much too small, especially for the price, and the owner yells at her employees and even had one of them work barefoot after a foot operation. Make up your mind
Ok
Over priced, not much selection, definitely not real chinese food and I found a piece of metal in the plum souce.
It was to reheat everything is calculated the imperial dough smaller than allieuscantonnais not edible
Excellent customer service good food and nice place
Great food! The best egg rolls!!!
Horrible experience no service and the food a real waste.
This place is filthy! We didnt even stay to eat as when we touched the menus, they were sticky and slimy.
Filled with dough and frying, No vegetables, little meat, little choice..... Nothing compared to other buffets at the same price (which are often free for children!).
Nothing else to say
The 5 of us at lunch decided to head over there. Lunch Buffet was extremely tasty and satisfying.
Got sick on this food. Does not taste good either.
IF you want a standard Chinese restaurant like in the old days and excellent food. I suggest it to you. Egg roll on a roll, always hot, impeccable service. Rare are those that remain a real Chinese buffet :) Dessert, Hot Wonton in honey + Chocolate ice cream.. a delight!
Very good, we have been going there as a family for years, never disappointed
Ordinary food, lots of fried foods, the cashier must be the owner by her look at the employees, not too famous for the price.
Food good small buffet
Jadore !!
Excellent service and excellent food
Too expensive for the little stock available...and very ordinary in taste
Its not gastronomy grade but its good and the service is great
Excellent food friendly waitress
It tasted like MSG and a little bit the chicken on the side. The service is horrible Its a dirty place The owner (the old lady) has an attitude problem. If I could give a zero I would do it. I took the buffet. Everything is too dry Or to fat. Nothing was good in it. Good news: at least Im not sick yet.
They advertise a restaurant decorated in the old style... Upon entering you quickly realize that it is a restaurant decorated up to date, 30 years old and never renovated since... The food (can choice but tasted what you expect it to taste) non-existent or almost brief service first and last time for me
Great food!
Terrible, over priced and COLD food. Owner asked me if i was going to tip...who the waitresses who are sitting down and eatin? Lmao! Please do not go here!!!!!
They have very little selection. Of what they do have, the quality is poor. When i left a tip of 5:00$,the owner told me i dident leave enough tip She then proceeded to try and shame me. Please dont eat here.
Well its good but lacks variety expensive for the Choices it offers
By far the absolute WORST restaurant in Chateauguay , PERIOD!!
I ordered general tao , I got breaded chicken breasts with plum sauce . Need I say more?
If I could I wouldnt even give a star at all. It cost us 87$ and we only received 1 cup (Green container) of Rice, I container of Garlic Spare Ribs and 2 huge containers of Chicken Choi Mein,...the only thing we got that was understandable was the Spring rolls. To go to the buffet is way cheaper and they literally take the food that is there when ordering. This is a disgrace. We ordered for 5 people and it didnt even fill for 4!!! I dont usually write reviews but a rip off is a rip off!!! I will never order from here again, and I will ensure others know of this as well. Also, I contacted the Restaurant to put a complaint and the lady who answered was absolutely the most rudest I have ever spoken too!!! So, on top of horrible food and portions we also receive horrible service.
No choice, poorly clean, unsmiling waitress and really too expensive for the quality and $7 for a baby is stealing!!!!
too expensive for the quality,
Too much lighting, theres better in the area
Too expensive for the quality of the food and the employees are mistreated
