Best Breakfast in town Legendary Lunches and number 1 pies and tarts in these parts
Love this place! It was nicely busy when we got there. We were still greeted and seated immediately. The whole vibe is relaxed, family friendly, and just friendly. I can't say enough great things about the food. It's fresh. It's delicious. We will definitely be back. I saw some other interesting items on the menu no one else has.
This is without a shadow of a doubt the most exquisite cheese burger and fries that I have ever laid tastebuds and eyes upon. It is a god given miracle that I have stumbled upon the doors of the shady pine.
This my first time here today for lunch. I had the homemade bean soup it was great. The turkey club sandwich I ordered was great the first half until I bit into a huge vein that looked like a grey worm in the other half. The staff member commented that it was real turkey when I pointed it out and asked if I would like anything else. She was nice enough to not charge me for the half sandwich I did eat. On a positive note the raisin butter tarts were amazing and the fish and chips that my other family members ordered were delicious and all homemade. Friendly atmosphere! I would definitely give it a try another time.
Such a great lunch at this popular family diner! We had the hot beef sandwich and the turkey club with bean and ham soup! DELICIOUS! When we are back in the area we will definitely be back!
One of the History Channel’s popular television shows uses the expression: High Strangeness Not far away from the Shady Pine Family Restaurant is a location of ‘High Strangeness’. On Goggle Map, the intersection of Chatham-Kent Highway 18 and Ontario King’s Highway 40 is designated as ‘Riverside Trailer Park’ where there is nothing in the surrounding area but farmers’ fields. However, a small genuine trailer park called ‘Riverside Estates’ does exist about a mile away up near the Shady Pine Family Restaurant. Pictures on the walls of the Shady Pine Family Restaurant depict a long lengthy history of various commercial uses for the surrounding property with the only current visible connection to the past being the small warm rustic remnants of the building. The choice of wooden décor reminds one of the ‘Days of Yesteryear’ when windup phone receivers, wireless radio and telegraph wires predated smart phones, Digital Flat Screens and the WiFi Internet. I’ve never personally interviewed the folks operating the restaurant, but I suspect a fair number of the folks working there have relatives who’ve walked the former wooden floor boards for more years than one can count! It is without hesitation that I proclaim the Shady Pine Family Restaurant is the only restaurant in Chatham-Kent, which serves the Best Chili & Cheese Omelette with the Biggest Mugs of Coffee that I’ve ever had the pleasure to drink from.
Amazing food the prices are very reasonable. Great friendly staff a hidden gem with astounding breakfast all day.
Love the pies made here...the best. Every time I go to windsor I stop by their place and get the pies.

The Shady Pine is a quaint and cute country diner. The food is good for the price and they have fresh baked goods for sale. The seating is limited, however, so you should come early.

The BEST breakfast in town! Exactly what you think of when you think Hometown Diner. Owners/Staff are great, atmosphere is perfect (the signs are hilarious!) and the community that gathers there is amazing. Our 2 young kids absolutely LOVE going there, and are always asking to go. Prices are great, food is awesome, and the pies are to die for!!

I liked my breakfast meal but my wife thought that her egg was undercooked and her bacon not crisp enough. The service was very friendly and efficient.

Great little diner. Friendly, competent staff. Tasty homemade fare. Eggs Benedict the best in Chatham-Kent.
Such a fun place to eat. The staff are friendly and the food is excellent.
It was cold in there
Food was good. Service was meh.
Honestly phenomenal. I am huge on breakfast, as in I could eat it for any meal of the day. Went here on a whim with a girlfriend of mine and was not disappointed. Ordered their special (eggs, bacon, toast, potatoes) and it was absolutely delicious. I love it when a place this small and homey makes me feel like my own Mom was cooking in the kitchen. Would definitely try again!
Great family atmosphere, and early morning Sunday breakfasts, are their specialty. Inexpensive and large portions. Always making sure your glass is full, and always friendly. Super tasting coffee too!! Would recommend as prices are lower than other chatham breakfast places.
The best place to go for a fantastic breakfast special. Great staff pleasant atmosphere.
Great breakfast place! Regular staff is awesome and efficient with a lot of people first thing in the morning. Waited a bit for the food, but worth it. Not a big place but the food is real, home-cooked.
Excellent place to eat if you can get a sit. Staff is friendly and helpful.
Good breakfast.
Excellent little home cooking diner.

Great service and breakfast for a good price.
Local small dinner ....lots of homemade pies and goodies. Never had a bad meal .. Benches in booths are a little hard on your bottom ..but it wouldnt be the shady pine without the wood bench !
Always a great breakfast!
A great place to stop for breakfast! Great food at good prices. Check out their homemade pies too!
Great food and service
Great breakfast place. Nothi g fancy just good food
Good friendly atmosphere. Good food. Reasonable prices. My only suggestion would be that the cook gets a better crust on the home fries.
When you think about an old-fashioned neighborhood diner, this is it. Good food and hospitality with reasonable prices are on the menu here. .... and dont forget desserts like lemon meringue pie, coconut cream pie and amazing butter tarts. Meet your friends here or make new ones. There are some booths and long tables to be shared. An on-the-fly go-to place. You wont regret it.
Excellent food..terrific staff
Best breakfast and very reasonable. Worth the drive for the pies. Make sure you bring one home if they have any left. They sell out of pies and tarts early.

Good food, homemade....pies are amazing! Quaint rustic setting
This is a great country restaurant. Its where the locals gather for breakfast and lunch. Good food and really friendly atmosphere. Nothing fancy but you come here for the food and conversation.
Amazing food, Great staff, quite little place to have lunch
Great place
Food was very yummy. Its a small town country kitchen, so you cant expect any frills, but thats a part of the charm. Service was good, and so was the food.
Butter tarts out of this world!
Good prices and lots of food
great food! good service!
Its always good. Breakfast all day is a nice feature.
Good size portions. Food was good.
The food was good. However, the waitress was slow and incredibly rude. My husband didnt like her iced tea and she made a point to give us poor service afterward. With being so close to the boarder I would hate for her to be the first experience someone has with a canadian
Good food, but the waitress refuse to take the ice tea off the bill when she brought it to the table and I realized that it was literally cold tea not something Im fond of. She was rude and slow. The other waitress working there was much nicer l wish we had her.
Great place to eat bit expensive
Great pie and tarts!
good food
Excellent breakfast!
Always good food and great service. Friendly staff.
I used to like this restaurant. The last time i was there I ordered an omelete. I found a hair cooked inside of it. So I ate my toast and waited for the waitress to come over. I proceeded to tell her , and she said well theres nothing I can do about it now. You come in here frequently ill take it off your next bill. 1. I went maybe once every 6 months, so no.... i was not a frequent visitor. 2. It should have been offered to recook my omelete, or take it off the bill. I did not eat it. Charge me for the toast sure....but the omelete? No. All in all it was a terrible experience for me. My husband enjoyed his breakfast, but sadly we had to pay full price for a meal I did not eat. I wont be returning.
Had the Breakfast Skillet, and was not disappointed. The Hollandaise sauce was on point, and the service was very friendly. Definitely can t wait to dine here again. :)
Great service, good fresh food, excellent value.
Good food in a working mans restaurant. Look for all the pick up trucks outside.
Great breakfast, fast friendly service. Cozy.
