Pates is an iconic Chatham neighborhood restaurant freshly redefined by Chef-Owner Anthony Silvestri. Relying on Anthony’s global adventures and time at the helm of some of New England’s most influential and exciting kitchens, the new Pate’s is ready to offer the best things in life: Great food, good people, and lifelong memories.
Fantastic dinner! We loved the food and atmosphere. Chicken dumplings, business as yuzu drink was fantastic, just ask Kyle our awesome bartender!
We loved our experience at Pate’s! Everything was delicious and service was excellent. The inside was renovated fairly recently and looked modern and classy. As someone with food allergies, I appreciated how the menu clearly listed common allergens, and wait staff were very accommodating with my order. I don’t often find restaurants with this level of attention and service in that area and it made a world of difference. Would recommend Pate’s to anyone and we will definitely be back!
Our final dinner with our son before he heads back off to college had to be at Pates!!!! The food is always consistently delicious! It's nice to come in and have the waiter recognize us from previous visits and welcome us back! The tuna cones are not to be missed! a mix of fresh tuna, a slightly sweet cone and a horseradish whipped cream. they are amazing! Thanks Pates! we'll be back soon!!!
The tuna cones, dumplings and duck tacos were awesome. We then ordered the fish and chips, white bolognese and the eggplant special. All of it and the snowball martini and Manhattan were fabulous. Highly recommend! Ellen, our waitress, was great.
Wow.....this some amazing and very interesting food. The Peking duck tacos are to die for. Tuna cones also fabulous
Wonderful place to go eat quality of food was outstanding. Love it has many gluten-free options available as well. Totally recommend it!👨🍳
Our favorite dining experience in Chatham! Really impressed with their drinks and menu selection. Everyone enjoyed their pasta dishes, especially the interesting take on Bolognese. I loved the salmon tartare cones reminiscent of French Laundry. Least favorite dish was the fish and chips which needed a little more salt and flavor.
This place was a little surprising after seeing it from the outside I had my concerns. When you go inside it is extremely nice and the people are fantastic! Food is incredible and service is even better. We were extremely pleased with our dinner and for a medium high end dining experience the prices were extremely reasonable. If we are ever back in the area we would absolutely go back for dinner. I do recommend a reservation.
We had dinner on the 12/15/24. It was all round a great evening. We recommend crab cake and tuna cones. Thank you well be back. Very excited you will be open on Monday nights during the winter! Compliments to Heather and Rose for making it a super night.
Excellent food and terrific friendly service in a warm and inviting environment. A very nice night out with friends.
Please ensure Anthony Silvestri receives a copy of this email. Please do not delete this, as feedback, regardless whether it is positive or constructive is beneficial for any business. We have been frequenting Pate s for more than 25 years, and our parents patronized the former restaurant under Bob Gardner for many years before that. We dined with a party of six on Friday evening, 11/30 and experienced a very disappointing dining experience. Here is a brief recap of some of the issues, which are not representative of the countless amazing meals we have enjoyed over the years: - Upon arrival and when being seated, we asked a young male host (who may have been the manager that evening) if he had anywhere to store coats (it was a cold evening). His response was curt and bordered on rude No. you can put them on the back of your chairs ! - Our party ordered a bottle of Flowers Pinot Noir, the server came back and informed us that bottle was not available. A second selection was made, and similarly we were told that bottle was not available. Disappointing we had to settle on a third choice. - The server, Amy, provided lackluster, almost curt and uncaring service throughout the evening. She asked that we pass drinks and food items to others around the table, rather than delivering them to our party directly. At the end of the dinner service, we asked for a specific dessert item (your famous Snowball), and were rudely told to wait, she had to clear the table before she would bring the dessert menus. - The Potato Chip-Crusted Cod Fish was overcooked and extremely dry, almost inedible and severely over-battered! - The White Bolognese was also a real disappointment. The pasta was overcooked, the spinach and peas were overly wilted and mushy and the dish was served at a tepid temperature. - The Korean Fried Broccoli was far too spicy, overpowering the dish, and overcooked-the broccoli was limp and unpleasant. With a bill of $600 and based on years of positive experiences, we expected more. Utter disappointment is an understatement. Not sure we will continue to patronize, or recommend one of our favorite Chatham restaurants again. We hope the feedback is used to improve the experience for others in the future.
This was a wonderful experience. Very professional, caring, friendly service. Fine food and drinks. Cozy atmosphere. Thanks to the whole team and especially to Milos, who served us. Great!
We got there early around 6 at the bar. Attentive staff, but we felt rushed right away. We ordered drinks the appetizers. They came out really fast. Then the mains, which were off the mark. My husband had the swordfish, which was a bit dry and I got the pasta dish that had white sauce and ground meat with some peas and carrots. It was off putting. No seasoning at all either had to ask for salt that was caked in the shaker. Thinking of that dish still makes me feel queasy.
Want to shout out Xander who was a phenomenal bartender, a great vibe and 10/10 hospitality. The entire staff was so welcoming and lovely.
Pates is one of our fav restaurants in Chatham. I always get the seafood pan roast because of all of the seafood in the dish and generous amount. Were with a party of 8. Three of us got that dish and when i say there was hardly any seafood in it - Im not exaggerating. Two shrimp, one scallop and a teeny tiny lobster claw. For $40 - we were all extremely disappointed as all 3 of us got the same sparse amount.. Whats going on Pates?? That was terrible. Very disappointed.
We enjoyed a delicious dinner for 4 to celebrate our mothers birthday in September! Our server was warm & friendly, and we got the chance to see the Chef to say hello. Special night all around!
Very nice atmosphere with excellent service. Food came up short. We had the pan seared swordfish and potato crusted cod. Both were overcooked and dry, lacking flavor. When a restaurant does not put salt and pepper on their tables you would expect perfectly seasoned food to come out of the kitchen. Had two glasses of wine. Bill including tip was 120.00 for two.
What a great dining experience! We took our daughter here for her 13th birthday and everything was top notch. Our waitress was amazing - attentive and so nice. The restaurant ambience was excellent - beautiful and clean. The food was spectacular. I had the surf & turf special, my wife had the tuna and my daughters had the filet and flat iron steaks. We feel very fortunate to have found this gem in Chatham.
Party of four. Food standouts were the tuna cones, Peking duck tacos, beet salad, Surf and Turf entree, and the berry shortbread dessert special! Nice atmosphere and we could actually hear ourselves talk! Maura, our server, made the night! She was efficient, friendly, and she answered our questions about the eclectic menu and accommodated our special requests. She also put up with our jokes!
Somewhat limited menu. Couldn t add grilled chicken to a salad for some reason! Caesar salad not that good. Just a blah experience overall! Will bypass this restaurant next time in Chatham.
Delicious food, wonderful service and a very comfortable atmosphere. The bar looks like a fun place to sit for a meal and drinks. Kid-friendliness: Kids menu available with several options.
First time going here based on a recommendation. Food and service was great. Absolute shout out to the chef. Quality of food and presentation was awesome. Will definitely be back. Food
Me and my husband were very disappointed with our food. We had ordered takeout. I ll start with the food tastes really good. The problem is I ordered a filet mignon cooked medium and received it medium rare and my husband had ordered a special which was a ny strip steak which was cooked properly but the issue was on the website it was listed to come with fries which were never received. We then called to inform them not to even ask for money back or any kind of discount just to inform the kitchen. We were then called back and informed that that dish doesn t come with fries although it was very clearly listed when we placed our online order. It was a disappointing experience especially for around 50$ a dish I don t think we ll be coming back.
Nice dinner spot. Tons of parking. Ambience and vibe is great, service was pretty good, food met high expectations. I had a chopped Cesar salad, and my sons had Pate s chowder, all very good. Wine and beer selection worked well, for dinner two of us had the Seafood pan Roast with fettuccine basil black pepper sauce and lots of seafood. Always a great dish at Pate s and my other son has the special which was a bunch of grilled seafood in a superb sauce over rice noddles. We all enjoyed thoroughly, too full for desert.
Our meals were awful. The 1/2 chicken was pink and not cooked. I had the ahi tuna. Ordered rare. It was well done. We did not want to complain but we will not go back. Very disappointing. We did love the tuna cones.
Thank you for a wonderful meal. Loved the artichoke, seafood, steak, and most of all our service. Dietary restrictions: GF
Seated on time, impeccable service, muted atmosphere, and delicious food. Huge portions and super fresh oysters and seafood. Yum.
The Cape Cod Potato Chip Encrusted Cod was dynamite as well as the White Bolognese. In our opinion the Clam Chowder was the best we ve ever had. The Espresso Martini is a must as as well!
We have been going to the new reimagined Pates almost every 2 weeks since it opened. It was fabulous. The decline has been rapid and unforgiveable. They have lost most of their profesdional staff . They have lost much of their ambiance. They are nickle and diming their patrons. There is no more elegance and sophistication. The restaurant should be ashamed and embarrassed for their behavior. They now charge extra for a larger ice cube. They now charge for butter. They charge $15, for a glass of wine. They try to upcharge water by eliminating tap water as an offered choice. They apparently cant afford air conditioning. They do not provide specials for any days but Friday, and Saturday. They are out of normal menu items for the rest of the weekdays. They charge for every little thing that would be expected to be a normal part of service/ dinner. It is very sad that they are taking such advantage of tourist and year round diners. They had a gold mine offering good food and service. They are the epitome of shrink- flation. There are several other restaurants in the area that provide good food and service without going for the wallet and throat. Im embarrassed to have such a tacky and petty restaurant representing my town and taking advantage of tourist. Please heed my warning and book other restaurants that appreciate the art of good food, good business and respect of their patrons. Its a sad story and they deserve the decline in business and reputation that will inevitably bring them down.
The service here is the best in Chatham. Fresh ingredients, refreshing drinks, excellent appetizers and entrees
Amazing food, but wow!!!! You need to try their drinks.....
Server was good but food was dreadfully unhealthy, heavy, overpriced and unpleasant. It s a shame. A disappointing experience Cream on everything. Made me feel ill.
The food is excellent.
Very good, fresh food. The tuna crudo cones appetizer was very good as were the duck tacos. Wheelchair accessibility: There is a ramp in front of the entrance.
Food was not good. Steak tasted absolutely awful. Spinach salad had zero seasoning. The truffle fries saved the day. The tea tasted as if it was from a can. I really could not believe for the price this place was this bad. I would definitely recommend finding another place to eat than here.
We go here every time were on the Cape. Absolutely delicious! The Korean broccoli is unmatched! Update: Sorry to report that things have changed and its not as good as it used to be. The broccoli is not the same, some of the best menu items like the tostadas and calamari are gone. It was disappointing.
Modern touch, fusion type dishes, great drinks and service. However, I have had better dishes here than what we ordered recently. Disappointed with potatoes crusted cod. I hope the management will take this complaint seriously. Plate looked horrible for the reason that it was an enormous amount of french fries that no human being should eat in one sitting. The plate was filled with french fries and topped with two pieces of potato crust white fish, that was edible, crunchy with lots of potato crust around. The fish was difficult to cut, especially that it was placed on the pile of french fries. So in order to slice through the fish, the fries and everything else was falling off the plate, esthetically unpleasant and not practical. The suggestion is to maybe have nicely placed fish on the plate with some small amount of fries and maybe a larger amount of coleslaw to make this plate look more appealing, healthier. and the quality of the fish should not be sacrificed because it is in the crust. It should be a nice, thicker piece of fish. This definitely was the worst fish dinner I lately had and very unappealing. Comparing to other dishes that are served at this restaurant, it was very low quality and inconsistent with the menu. Please consider changing this dish. Date of visit: June 2024
One of my favorites
Had the seared Ahi Tuna & Mindy had incredible Seaford pasta dish! Sit at the bar, they are very entertaining & the service was quick & on point!
We were in town for a work function and spent an extra night in Chatham and so happy we did. After reading a few reviews and seeing the menu we decided to try Pate s and are thrilled we did. Nico was great and really made us feel welcomed. Would highly recommend the seafood pan roast and the oysters were fresh and perfect. Give this place a try you won t regret it.
Will definitely dine here again on vacation! Dietary restrictions: So many options are gluten-free and very delicious! Food : 5/5 |
Nico was an absolutely wonderful server! Filet was melt in your mouth tender, and an excellent pour for wine!
The experience was amazing! Our server Niko was the best. Not only were our drinks good it almost seemed like we were a priority. He was friendly, knowledgeable about the menu, and genuinely seemed like he cared about my family and I. Not to mention the Crusted Ahi, hands down the best. With the service impeccable and the food outstanding and of course the atmosphere doesnt let you down I would highly recommend to anyone!
Beautiful remodel, re-menu, but same excellent seevice.
On the pricey side. Food is usually good. Need to change up the menu a little.
Terrible Takeout--Wei No Fun Menu-- $54 Saturday Night Special Screwing Sesame Shrimp Dumplings--Just barely OK Peking Duck Takos----Was it duck or snake? Couldnt tell with all the goopy sauce Orange Chicken--Soggy balls of mystery meat disguised rendered incognito by the orange sauce Fool me once......
I just picked up take-out dinner at Pates Restaurant. They have a winter take-out menu called WEI FUN Asian Kitchen. I was very excited to try some of their dishes because we love Asian food and we have always loved Pates. Everything we ordered was delicious. We had Red Dragon Glazed Pork Ribs. They were succulent with a fabulous sticky rib glaze. Yum! I ordered Sesame Shrimp Dumplings with tamari, chinese black vinegar and chili oil. There were six in the order. Terrific! I ordered the Orange Shrimp with peppers, broccoli and jasmine rice. The shrimp were perfectly cooked. The chef probably stopped cooking them just before they were done, so when they continued to cook in the sauce, they were perfect when we ate them. The orange sauce was delicious. And we both ordered the Red Curry Hot Pot with Duck. There are four other choices with the Hot Pot - vegetable, shrimp, chicken or pork belly. The Hot Pot includes bok choy, snow peas, bean sprouts, ginger, garlic, coconut milk and udon noodles. It had just the right amount of spice for us. Such a wonderful dish. The food was packed in sturdy plastic containers which had plastic wrap around so nothing leaked out in my car. We spent $100.00 plus tip and tax for two appetizers and three main dishes. I thought the prices were very fair for the amount of food in each dish. We look forward to trying other dishes in the future. Vegetarian options: I can see on their menu that there are vegetarian options. Parking: Since it is winter, there are plenty of available parking spots.
It was ok but I preferred other Chatham restaurants. I made my reservations for my trip weeks ahead of time. When my wife and I arrived we had a difficult time getting a parking spot. The parking lot was a direct reflection of what we found inside the restaurant. We were taken to a table that was wedged into a spot with a huge (about 20 people) table. Our chairs were bumped several times by kids running around the table. The server also had a difficult time maneuvering around to our table. The food was good but the place is loud and crowded. If you want an upscale romantic adult place to go then skip Pates. We had planned on going to the Chatham Cut during our trip but canceled those reservations after our Pates experience since Pates owns that restaurant.
Highly recommend
Delicious food, and kind and courteous service.
The best restaurant in the area!!! Highly recommend!!! Rebecca was very kind and provided excellent customer service!!!!
the service was attentive. the ambulance was awesome. and the Korean fried broccoli was to die for
Great food and service. Delicious seafood and roast chicken, both meals cooked well. Heather our waitress was amiable and looked after us well. Lovely ambience and decor in the restaurant. Definitely worth a visit
Fine dining establishment! Excellent food, a variety of classic and refreshing drinks, and great dessert! I recommend eating here if your traveling through the Cape, make reservations ahead of time!
Super delicious
Best of the best on the cape. We never miss a chance to dine at Pates when we are in Chatham.
One of the best fine dining restaurants on Cape Cod. The shrimp scampi with linguine was delicious, and the filet mignon was cooked to perfection. Excellent wine list. Watch out for the scrumptious but huge martinis!
Great presentation and wonderfully tasteful food. Our party of 5 all had different apps, salads, and desserts and they were all fantastic. I highly recommend the Beet Carpacio salad , the Pan seared Salmon entree and/or the Duck Tacos
Fishermans Pan Roast was fair. I would not order it again. Too much pasta which diluted the sauce. Lobster was negligible. Also, our party of 7 was seated at a table for 6 which made for an uncomfortable, crowded dining experience. Dietary restrictions: Waitress was very accommodating about a nut allergy and kitchen substituted salmon for tuna on a dish.
The white bolognese ridiculous!
A true gem. Outstanding all around.
The seafood pan roast is to die for. The sauce is so delicious and, so much seafood!! Also, the quality of the crab in the lump crab cocktail is top notch as well as the grilled artichoke small plate. Fun atmosphere at the bar while we waited for our table. Definitely recommend Pates when youre in the area.
Not one complaint
All 3 of us got the Everything Seasoning Ahi Tuna and thought everything about it was amazing. Also had the Tuna cones which we love and they did not disappoint. Drinks were delicious and service was great.
Had not been to Pates in over 30 years and Im so glad I went back.
Excellent customer service. Delicious meal. Loved my experience here.
Food was bomb but with respect to the ocean can we chill on all the plastic wrap and maybe consider compostable disposables, just up charge for it, I know I d pay!
My favorite restaurant on the Cape, food and service are always perfect. They have the best Calamari and the snowball martini is always good.
We had a relatively light late night dinner (pizza), drinks and apps so can t really vouch for their main entrees. But we d go back for more.
Very average
I love pates and have enjoyed everything i have had there. The seafood pan roast is perfect with a cream sauce that is not overpowering. The banana coconut cream pie is also a favorite. But i have had so many things there these are my favorites. The place is often very busy but tables to open up at about 830. Put this place on yiur chatham list.
Great waiter, drinks and food. A wonderful night.
Great atmosphere but very expensive and food just pretty good not great. It s always busy so making a reservation days in advance is a necessity. The food used to be excellent but last night s experience for our party of six was mediocre and disappointing. Great bar area, we ll likely stick to that moving forward.
Ordered pan roast seafood dinner. The description specified lobster, scallops and shrimp. Over pasta sith a peppered cram sauce. As for the lobster it was non-existent. Looked like they scraped whatever meat from the cavity within the head. Fifth time here most likely my last. Anthony Parking: sparse
Our waiter was extremely friendly and professional...his recommendations were spot on..the food was delicious...solid dinner choice..
Friendly service, unique fusion cuisine .
Superb!!
Beautiful place
Food and service excellent best fish and chips I ever had
Sit at the bar. Cocktails are awesome and bartenders are very entertaining.
Nice setting, good service and very good food.
Parking is terrible.
Staff is kind and down to earth. The restaurant has perfect food. Great time tonight.
So Lovely to us. I thought I had made a reservation, but didn t! They scrambled to accommodate us. Thank you for making our anniversary a happy one. We will be back!!
The food and service was amazing!
Quality of food was good but didnt match the price. Theres other options in Chatham for fine dining. Overall it was fair
The appetizers were excellent, Korean broccoli was just so tasty. The entree was very well excited for Fish n chips. My wife enjoyed the cocktails and wine. The music was a bit loud, other than that we had a great evening.
Had an excellent dinner with My uncle and dad. The ambience and entrees were terrific. I recommend the Seafood Pan Roast, Lamb Ravioli, and Potato Crusted Cod Fish.
Really enjoyed this place that was recommended by a local. Ate at the bar with a friend. Great steak and tasty cocktails.. looking forward to a return visit during next visit.
Great meal last evening. Service and atmosphere were super.
The place is packed! Some great staff! I love Pates! Im not surprised its always packed. The bar fills up so quick! I love that you guys have that standing rail to wait at! Being able to grab a bar table is great too when you cant get a bar seat or a table in the dining room. We were lucky enough to get a bar table the other night and Joey was so quick to come help us out! Shes so bubbly! She made us some cosmos and they were great!
Give the new owners a lot of credit. Pates has been a fixture in the Town of Chatham since Champlain took a left instead of a right and sailed into Stage Harbor. So if you remember what Pates looked like then when you stepped inside, compared to now, there is a 180 degree difference ..all for the best. Gone are the dark wooden walls, enter a vibrant new and modern interior design that brightens the establishment up, and at the same time, you arent right on top of one another. So if you venture in Chatham, whether youre passing thru for the day. Or spending a few days at one of the many Inns and hotels in time. You need to check out Pates restaurant.
Definitely order the thin crust pizza!
We went to Pates upon a recommendation of someone we met playing golf. He raved about the steak and he was right ! We both ordered the 8 oz. Filet and it was perfect. Our waitress, Heather was the best.. going out of her way to find a veggie my husband would like! It was so nice eating and relaxing in such a nice atmosphere.. loved that they had cloth table cloths! We will be going back soon!
DO NOT BOOK A PRIVATE EVENT HERE!!!!! if I could give less stars I would. I went to book my rehearsal dinner here in February made a Deposite and then never heard back from anyone for weeks on months. Horrible staff poor service overall just don t go here.
Fabulous dinner for 3. From the drinks, to the appetizers, to entrees ,one was a special request of no shellfish which was accommodated,, and then the desserts..Service was excellent. Cant wait to return this is our new favorite spot.
This is not your fathers Pates! Jamie has redone the entire interior and has put together a beautiful restaurant and bar with fantastic food you wont find in many places. The delicacy of sautéed octopus was a great appetizer along with medium sized muscles. The wedge salad rounded out a wonderful, filling dinner. The new Pates will be one of our regular stops.
Great food
This place is top notch!
Everything we ordered was very tasty, especially the seafood pasta.
Food was great service not so much
I intend this as a constructive review. The atmosphere is good. The drinks are ok. But, the food I ve experienced has been average and inconsistent. The first time we went my wife had the cioppino and it was very good. Good chunks of seafood on a good bed of noddles. The second time we went the cioppino was not much more than little chunks of what looked like left overs. Little knuckles of crab with no meat and bits and pieces of whatever in an overly salty sauce. And, unlike the first time, this plate had maybe a tablespoon of noddles. I asked the waitress what happened and she murmured that maybe the line cook forgot the noddles. Also, the first time we went I had a pizza which was a disappointment. It had little sauce and the cheese was rubbery. I ve had much better frozen pizzas from Stop and Shop. Much better pizza at Del-Mar. I would recommend Pate s for drinks and I will give it another try.
The food was good. The service was terrible kind of killed the night for us. It was our 30th wedding anniversary and we put that in our open table reservation. Not even an acknowledgement. The waitress barely spoke never checked on us the entire time. First time at Pates not sure we will go back. So disappointing On This special occasion night.
Great bar! Very pretty. Food was fantastic!the romaine salad was crunchy unique delish! And the roasted cauliflower dinner was absolutely one of THE BEST things Ive ever eaten!!
Worth the price!
We attempted to eat dinner at Pates on June 28 and have no comment on the food since after waiting 1 hour and 15 minutes, we gave up and left, paying only for what our children were served. They liked theirs, we didnt get ours The 1 is for the children, otherwise Pates would have gotten a big fat ZERO.
Had our anniversary dinner here. The service, food, and drinks were fantastic. They were very accommodating with a GF allergy. More than we would normally spend on dinner but great for a special occasion. The sea bass special and Korean broccoli appetizer can t be missed!
Service was great, but the menu is all over the place. Would like to see more focus.
Pretty good overall. Apps were good, main dishes pretty good, drinks ok, dessert not very good and service was not great. They were very busy even late on a Saturday night. Make reservations if you go on peak and maybe dont expect great or friendly service.
Tough one to rate here as the food was excellent, the cocktails also excellent, but the service was poor...had a 3 star and then moved to 4 since it might just have been the night that was in it..and then had to recognize for the cost (500 for 4 including tip), this was 3 stars Felt like they were trying to get us in and out (main course arrived 2 mins after starters were cleared, even when I had asked them to slow the food down). White wine was served at room temp, water was not refilled and when wine did arrive, the poured the entire bottle in to 4 glasses. Fortunately we were with great company and had a lovely night...but it was a pricy meal with mediocre service
Popular large restaurant with small plate options. Well trained staff.
Crab appetizer, turf and surf( lobster ravioli, lobster meat and flat iron steak , then crème brûlée. Wow, what a meal.
Food is great, staff is friendly and knowledgeable.
The best Expresso martini I have ever had. Jamie and Jimmy are the best bartenders. Great food as well.
Surprisingly upscaled since we were at this restaurant about 10 years ago. Excellent decor, menu, service and everything we ordered was delicious!
DINERS BEWARE... This is the 1st time I have ever written a review, and feel strongly consumers are aware. Yesterday, July 27, We made a reservation, only 24 hours in advance for a party of 4 and was looking forward to a nice dinner with our parents. Unfortunately one of us tested positive for Covid, and in a effort to be socially conscious we called to cancel our reservation and were told $100 would be charged to our credit card. So, three of us decided to go and upon our arrival we were told our credit card will be charged $25 because one in our party did not show. Pates has a new policy requiring a credit card to make a reservation and if you need to cancel within 24 hours your credit card WILL BE charged $25 per person. The policy reads No-shows or cancellations less than 1 day in advance may be subject to a charge of $25.00 per person. MAY BE is falsely stated and misleading, and the disclaimer should accurately read WILL BE charged $25.00 per person. We were told the only way to avoid this charge was to order a dinner to go. Honestly, we were shocked and dumbfounded by such an arrogant policy and lack of appreciation for the consumer. In 25 years of enjoying Chatham as a 2nd home, our family has never experienced this and we will never return to Pates. Our waitress was very sweet and relayed our grievance to the manager, who in turn deducted $25.00 from our bill, only because it was a Covid situation, however the restaurant still charged our card used to make the reservation. There are very good, successful, long standing restaurants in town that are difficult to get in to but welcome you and appreciate you. They dont require a credit card to make a reservation and dont need to charge your credit card because of a cancelation. Pates is not one of them.
This place was absolutely fabulous! The decor he was perfectly set for a Beach Cape cod theme. Nice tranquil colors. Drinks were very well made. The food was absolutely delicious. Ill definitely be going back! Parking: They have a parking lot. Kid-friendliness: There were children there
Order the broccoli with Korean bbq sauce. Hands down my favorite dish and the best broccoli Ive ever had in my life. Fast service and wonderful staff. My water cup was always full and every dish was delicious.
Never seen restaurant staff move so fast, and efficiently. Food was excellent too.
Dont let the outside look of this restaurant fool you. Beautiful inside with great food, drinks & service!
First time here after the new ownership and remodel. The inside looks great inviting open and fresh the food was excellent
Amazing service, food is... well, some of the best weve experienced in Chatham and we love the food here. Could not recommend it highly enough.
Absolutely recommend
Food was great! Had a great variety for family. We decided to get take out after long travel day and food traveled well back to the house would highly recommend!
I ordered the Seafood Pan Roast, tremendous! Great atmosphere, fine dining, exceptional service!
Dietary restrictions: The bartender Jamie is fantastic. The good was great and nice portion.
Not the old leather chairs and wood paneling any longer. Vibrant atmosphere, an entire new look and a fabulous bar. Oh and the food was outstanding. Tuna cones! Gotta try these. Jack, David and Sara at the bar were worth the price of admission!
The food and service here are very good. I had a half chicken with mashed chive potatoes and snap pease with a whole grain mustard sauce which was very good.
Service was excellent, Seafood Pan Roast delicious. Shrimp scampi and potato crusted cod were good but served on the cool side. Busy night and kitchen may have been struggling to serve dishes timely and hot.
Terrible. Rude. Have never been treated like this at any restaurant. Don t ever go. Stay far away.
We stopped in at Pates without a reservation on 8/20/22 hoping to sit at the bar. There was no room but the hostess found a table for us and seated us right away. The food was amazing! Try the tuna cones! Our entrees were delicious! We skipped dessert but everyone around us was ordering desserts that looked lovely. The staff was like watching a well oiled machine. Taking orders, bussing, running food and taking time to chat with everyone.
We dropped in on the off chance of getting a table and we re very pleased we did. Great atmosphere by the bar with a good menu. Portions were large, high quality and enjoyable. Service was first class - we ll visit again. Thanks
This is the nicest restaurant in the area. The ambiance is amazing and the service is exceptional. The little necks were amazing and the artichokes were to die for! Heather is the best server ever!!!
Not bad. Need to buy salad with dinner. For the price would be nice if you got free rolls and salad. Service was good.
Great food, service, atmosphere. Very lively bar. Best around.
Food was excellent. Varied menu. Service was very professional and really ran timely. Definitely a place wed return to! Absolutely need a reservation! Decor was a little too simplistic, but thats just my taste
The entrees and the service are great but I was disappointed with the chowder. Cape restaurants simply shouldn t mess with tradition. It s got bacon in it and it s just not that good. The chowder at The Squire, however, is excellent and it s exactly what one expects. Pates can certainly do better.
Food was good however very loud
Halibut was delicious
Simply elegant fine dining experience. Would definitely go back
What a great restaurant! We loved our dinner at Pates and found the service and food quality to be 5 stars. Our server Alexis was absolutely delightful and we cant wait to go back. It is a local establishment for sure, bar seats were all occupied and I highly suggest a high top in the bar. The food quality was absolutely outstanding the number of items GF was such a surprise.
Dietary restrictions: Gluten-free options Food
This was an odd place. It feels like a renovated clam shack. Very noisy.
First visit to Pates and wow what a treat. So dissapointed we have not gone sooner. Food, service, atmosphere and cocktails were all fantastic. This is a must visit for any foodies out there. Great bar as well, we are looking forward to enjoying it on our next visit.
Great food and bartenders
Always wonderful. This was our 5th or 6th time having dinner at Pates and it never disappoints. Had the shrimp scampi and my wife had the salmon. Shared the pear cake for dessert! We will be back again soon.
Fabulous! Delicious entrees and wonderful.!
Honestly pretty surprised the reviews are so positive, maybe the bar is set really low on the Cape? Went for dinner, it was so incredibly loud we felt like we were yelling at each other, the atmosphere is just off. Food was mundane at best, we weren t really impressed with anything, the vegetarian options are weak. Pasta dish sauce was runny like water. The raw bar options smelled, which is never a good sign. Other seafood apps just tasted charred. And the mixed drinks tasted like what you drink on the lawn at a frat party. Idk if the bartender was new, or had the worst pour, but they just tasted, gross. Was really surprised because it looked so nice, the staff was awesome, friendly, and mostly attentive. But this menu needs a revamp, for the prices youre paying you re not getting the quality you deserve.
The searver was amazing but besides that this is one of the worst sit down restaurants I have ever been to. All of the fish was sandy and tasted very fishy. The steak was 36 dollars and half of it was fat and it was so small I had to go home and make another dinner. I also asked for it medium and it was like charcoal. When we told our server about this he got the women manager. We told her about our food and she said, you ate the food anyways didn t you? She also was very rude and when she walked away she turned around and told us to, get out of my restaurant and my family and I lost it on her. The server overheard this and had to apologize of her actions after she left. You would think after all of this we would have gotten a discount on the food but we didn t at all. If the manager hopefully sees this it is 100% true and if she tells you otherwise she is lying to keep her job. My family and I will never walk into here ever again since it isn t a family friendly environment and the food and drinks were terrible for there price.
Absolutely fantastic food all around from apps, to main entree, to dessert
Good sit down place
Our first visit to the new Pate s, and we were impressed. Very nice atmosphere and an excellent cocktail and wine list. Our waitress, Sam, was terrific. Everything we ordered was well prepared and delicious. Recommend the kale caesar salad, the grilled artichokes, the shrimp scampi and the steak. We will definitely return!
Nice but not cheap
Overall we had good time. Samantha our waitress was great and engaging! Food was delicious but.....the Wedge salad did not have crispy onions at all.....possibly made ahead of time? Drinks were on point and delicious! Its a bit noisy. Dessert we split their Banana, toasted coconut, real whip cream and caramel in a huge jar, it was a Wow!!. Coffee was hot and delicious!
First time going here since the renovation. We were very impressed! Maddie was our waitress and was fantastic. Scallops were outstanding. Tuna also outstanding. Chowder also very good. Will without question be back! Thanks for a great evening!!!
Top notch entrees... Creative flavors. Lobster fried rice was good.
Good food and a great vibe. The new Pates was hopping!
The Service was really great but the food was pretty good
Food was awesome!! Our waitress Lauren was spot on! Wish we found this place at the beginning of our trip, but test assured we will be back next summer!!!
All the trappings of a really good restaurant but just misses the mark on every aspect. Does have a really purple cocktail (that is also mediocre).
Excellent food!! Great service!! Will definitely come again and again!! Telling everyone!!
The food is fabulous, the service outstanding and the atmosphere inviting! Definitely one of my favorite restaurants.
Awesome . Very clean , bright and busy .We ordered the Halibut and it was the best we ever had, cant wait to go back
If I could give less than 1 star I would. Started with a mixed drink that bartender forgot to put alcohol in. Waiter nor bartender offered nothing except a shrug. Food was super expensive for quality. I would not return and I would tell everyone about my bad experience. DO NOT GO!!!
Food and service is amazing. A couple things are overpriced so just watch what you re ordering if you don t want to be surprised. Very good about food allergies and making modifications to ensure no cross contamination. Had several staff service me and each were phenomenal at this.
Beautiful remodel! Excellent meal.
Pates is a great location for excellent food and presentation. We liked it so much the first visit that we returned the next evening to try some other items on the menu. We were not disappointed.
Nice restaurant. Good food.
Both food and service was very good
Food, service and wait staff was excellent! Spirited bar service too.
We ate here the other night! Its gorgeous! Our dinner was perfect. The bar hidden in the back is beautiful, and your bartender Jaimie is an absolute character! We werent sure what was wrong with one of the other bartenders that was back there, she was just rude and seemed miserable. It was only so noticeable because Jaimie is like a show, then this young woman scowls and is short with us. She had an accent, so maybe English just isnt her first language? Either way, talk to your customers! At least try to be personable! Youre a bartender and that bar is so beautiful, why look so miserable! Still a great experience, and we will be back with friends!
Wine is the way! We stopped in back in September, one of the best meals we have had in a while. We had Amy as our server, and she was so helpful with the menu! She said the cocktails do tend to take a while, and recommended ordering wine instead. She had some great recommendations for my steak, and my wifes swordfish. Both spectacular. Thank you.
