Copper Rivet Distillery, Pump House, No. 5 Maritime Way, Leviathan Way, Chatham ME4 4LP, United Kingdom
Set in the historic Pumphouse built in 1873, you can dine in a large indoor dining room or al fresco on the dining terrace with breath-taking views over the River Medway and Upnor Castel or Enjoy tapas and cocktails on the waterfront terrace or in the cocktail lounge
We started on the cocktail making class before hand and what an experience, definitely need a taxi after that. Straight into the beautiful restaurant, all the staff were very attentive and accommodating to our needs. Only reason for the 4 stars was they didn't have any oysters and we were looking forward to those but do not let that deter you. Definitely a gem of a place.
We were gifted some vouchers for a treat. What a discovery - set in an old, refurbished industrial building with a contempt atmosphere. The food is delicious and beautifully presented. Nice drinks menu with local spirits and wines, and some interesting cocktails including non-alcoholic options.
One of the best roast dinners we have ever had out. Starters were also amazing (but slightly small portions for price). Pudding was not as good as the others (and also rather pricey for what you got). I would definitely recommend Sunday lunch here as a special occasion (not cheap!!).
Brilliant lunch-time dining experience with highly attentive service, friendly staff and impeccable dishes in a very pleasant dining room. The lunch specials were each very impressive and incredible value for money. The dockyard area nearby was additionally very scenic. Highly recommended, will be back again!
Definitely the nicest spot for a tasty meal in the area. Since the refurbishment and installation of a full kitchen the food and restaurant has improved massively. The meal was delicious although my steak was a touch overdone. Dessert was delicious. Touch on the high side regarding cost. Service needs a bit more training in describing the dishes. Still a lovely day out.
I first discovered the Copper Rivet strawberry gin, which I liked so much I researched and found out about the distillery and restaurant along the river in Chatham.. and I had to experience dining at the place that made such a good quality gin. We were not disappointed.. quality cocktails, service and food.. you do pay a bit more but for a special occasion it’s just perfect.. first we had drinks outside with lovely views along the river, and blankets provided in case it gets chilly (we actually had a bit of sun!!).. and then inside the amazing building for dinner.. the food blew us away and my husband told the waitress he wanted to marry the chef 😂 which I totally understood… will definitely go back and look forward to it! And the triple cooked chips which we will have with whatever we order..
The pumproom is the perfect place for an occasion. It’s on the pricier side, but it’s honestly worth every penny! We went for our wedding anniversary and had put it on the booking form. They welcomed us with a card on the table, we had a free cocktail and some fudge at the end of the meal too. The staff were lovely and so knowledgeable about everything on the menu. We had every course going and the flavours in every part were beautiful. Lots of combinations you wouldn’t necessarily find elsewhere, the bone marrow fondue was our absolute highlight. The cocktails menu is extensive and there’s loads with alcohols from the distillery to choose from. It’s also lovely to have the view out onto the river with Upnor castle in the distance. Such a gem to find in Chatham, we loved it!
Stunning food, venue, service and drinks. Great value for a top tier restaurant. We had Sunday roast and was 10/10. Edit: it was so good we went back the following week to try the Saturday menu with wine pairings. Excellent!
We booked a table for 11am, we arrived at 11.07 to be told that the kitchen is closed. So I m wondering if they accept reservations for 11am, does that require that they time you and that you are only allowed to order once?? Absolutely ridiculous behaviour towards their customers. Surely I won t be trying this again!
Came for an evening out for drinks and small plates. Everything served was immaculate and so was the service. Rachel was amazing and I hope we made her night like she did ours. 1010 would recommend.
Overpriced and if you are going for a dessert, do not get English cheese board
Great food. Great service. Background music too intrusive
First visit. Very good. Shame the weather was awful. Otherwise the Terrace over looking the river and Upnor Castle would have been great. Food : 4/5
More care for Coffee making sure hot enough
Excellent food served by delightful staff. Extremely interesting guided tour of the attached distillery. Just paid a second visit, the food remains really excellent though the service was a bit slower this time for no apparent reason. I like the outdoor terrace but it can be windswept in certain conditions.
Really enjoyed the food. I often find coming from London, that food outside for there is bland. But the Pumroom had flavour throughout especially the squid, which had a nice kick to it. Staff were also really nice and friendly. I felt comfortable and looked after, I would come again.
The food was excellent but the portions tiny and unsatisfying. Also they had run out of chicken which was 25% of their mains options, gone, by 8pm on a Friday evening. So I ordered 12 oysters but then they said they only had 6 left! I commented this wasnt really good enough. Next thing I know, the manager comes over suggesting that a member of her staff had said to her that I had sworn, which the other 3 people at the table could attest wasnt true. It left bad feeling, an embarrassment and awkwardness, compounded by the food disappointment, whilst still charging top whack. I wont be going back. The drinks were also excellent; I had 2 margaritas, 2 lagers, 6 oysters and the cerviche. Wife had salmon starter and halibut main, which was £35. She also had a bottle of prosecco. All in, with a service charge of debatable deserving, I didntbget much change out of £200, which seems pretty steep. I definitely dont feel like I had good value for it Vegetarian options: Only one
Really great place to visit. Food and drinks amazing
Expensive but good value. A definate new favourite
Amazing place overall. My personal highlight was the Mango Pavlova that I had, perfect end to what was already a great meal!
The staff couldn t have been nicer and the tea was great
Spectacular place to dine inside and out. Inside is a cavernous victoriana pump house, outside is a fantastic spot on the river to enjoy the sun (if there is any). Food is a really high standard, although the Bloody Mary needs a bit of work...
Must say slightly disappointed with the restaurant. Have been wanting to go for a while so booked Sunday lunch. Restaurant is lovely and staff are welcoming and friendly. However the food was ok! The roast potatoes weren t great and the gravy tasted like it came from granules. Most disappointing part was they run out of calamari and then ran out of crumble as well. At strange part it closes at 5pm so we was refused a cocktail at 4.45!
Great food and service
The food is excellent and beautifully served. The service is also very good, with very attentive staff. The restaurant has a chilled, botanical feel in a great setting.
Great food and drinks in a historic venue ,brilliant.
So overpriced!!! £26 for a roast dinner with 2 slivers of beef, £24 for the only vegetarian option that didnt come with roast potatoes, Yorkshire pudding or any of the trimmings, was literally just some pickled vegetables so my girlfriend left hungry and it was her birthday meal! Would not recommend Vegetarian options: Only 1 vegetarian option for starter and 1 option for main, ridiculous
A wonderful 3 course meal and good atmosphere. Weekday lunch menu recommended, especilly cottage pie.
Enjoyed a fabulous early mothers day lunch here and am so glad I booked. Staff were wonderfully attentive, polite and helpful. The food was utterly delicious - and my mum is hard to please! Highly recommended
Really nice place..staff great food .good.always worth a visit Parking: Ample car park Wheelchair accessibility: Theres a ramp
Very nice! A little bit of posh in Medway. The Pumproom is found within a lovely, old brick building, right next to the River Medway. The bar is showcase, the seating comfy and the drinks are showy. I tried their own Malthouse whisky (distilled and aged on site) and that is very nice indeed. Wifey tried a Mohito, but that was packed with more crushed ice than a slurpee, for folks old enough to remember them. Are they still a thing? Two drinks for £24 is probably hitting the upper limit in Medway, but the whisky measure seemed generous. Lets not forget too that the Pumproom experience is partly about the premium location and it does stand out from the crowd. The menu looks rather terrific too, but we were just passing by at the end of a bracing walk by the river. Well have to sample their culinary delights on another occasion. Its worth noting that although we just popped in for a drink, we were nevertheless asked whether we had made a reservation. We hadnt, and that seemed somehow awkward. It took a few moments for the nice, young lady to process our lack of reservation before we were invited to take a seat. I must therefore question whether one should book ahead for drinks. Perhaps seating is limited and standing at the bar is not permitted. Otherwise this could just be a case of having to Gucci up to ensure the red carpet treatment. We werent looking particularly Gucci, if you know what I mean. We looked more Wrangler and Regatta!
Great service and nice food. Would give 5* if my full English had 2 slices of bacon (for £14.50) and the OJ wasnt iced so heavily.
Wow doesnt do it justice. Beautiful food and great service. Would recommend definitely.
One of the best places to go and eat and drink in Rochester. You must go.
Excellent.
First time visiting here. We loved it so much we went back the same day! Recommend the Damson gin. It is quite pricey though in there and they add 10% service charge which we didnt expect. But they really looked after us and even arranged a taxi when we found out there were no more buses we could catch to get home. Cant wait to go back, especially in the spring/summer, as its right beside the river with beautiful views!
Excellent set lunch menu. Although only 2 choices of each course my friend and I were of the same opinion. When can we return! Quality food. Great setting and service. Thank-you Pump Room Parking: Plenty of space to park in gravel carpark on Brewery side then few steps along the road to restaurant entrance
Decided to add this to my multiple visits to restaurants. Good car parking, venue is large and options as to main menu or tapas, was unimpressed with tapas choices so we opted for the main menu, reasonable choices not huge variety. I had the raw beef starter that tasted too salty, main was a lamb dish that whilst beautifully cooked again was blessed with a little too much salt as was the vegetable side I opted for. Drank a large volume of water and still left feeling thirsty. Presentation isn t bad but the finishing lacks that final touch. Made two staff aware of the seasoning issue and both mentioned they would pass it on to chef Would I go back not unless they respond to feedback and sort the seasoning. They replied! Second visit in Jan 2023, vast improvement, not salty this time, well presented and well flavoured dishes. The Roe deer tartar is strongly flavoured but nice.
Me and my wife went to the pump room today for a roast and both of us agreed that it was the best roast we have ever had! The starters were also 10/10. We cant wait to go again.
Excellent restaurant. We booked a table following a tour of the distillery. The food was fabulous as well as being good value for money.
Amazing food and great and superb service.
Absolutely outstanding. Servers attentive and friendly, food was delicious and fairly priced - expect a finer dining experience. Drinks were very well priced, certainly good for cocktails and wine list felt reasonable. Bar and dining areas honour the history of the building.
Excellent quality food and well prepared. Wheelchair accessibility: Easy to get to. And staff very accommodating.
Popped in for a spot of lunch. At first glance at the lunch menu, we were a little disappointed, as there was nothing vegan/vegetarian on there. However, we then looked at the a l carte menu and were able to order off there. The food was amazing and service was incredible too. We definitely will return.
The chap was very rude on 7th April when I said any red wine and slammed menu down how rude he had burgundy jumper that day with beard
Recommended by friends this is a lovely open space restaurant and bar. Quite a young staff, but all very friendly helpful and professional. Staff made the experience extra special. Food was top notch, done great combinations that you wouldnt necessarily think would go together but all of it was amazing. Good selection of drink to accompany the meal. The live barrel whisky was a great finish to the evening! Vegetarian options: Noticed a few items on the menu marked as vegetarian or gluten free.
Just wanted to say a massive massive thank you to Gemma and the team for the most amazing, well organised, well catered for buffet Babyshower breakfast this morning It really was such a lovely morning and can not thank you enough
What an amazing place, great tapas great cocktails fabulous staff throughly enjoyed our evening. Highly recommended
Absolutely love the industrial sophisticated vibe at The Pump Room. The staff are very attentive, charging glasses and checking in but not so much that it interrupts the experience. The food was delicious and portion size was perfect for a 3 course dinner. Highly recommended Vegetarian options: Each course had a vegetarian option
Excellent meal, great attention to detail with a chef who clearly takes pride in their menu and food. The use of local produce is great and that marmite butter was something else!!
Attentive staff, fascinating building and phenomenal Michelin Star worthy food without the pomp. Can t wait to come back, thank you.
What an amazing discovery, we had steak night in this romantic location. Service is impeccable and the story behind every meal blown us away. Can t wait to come back
Vegetarian options: Not a vegetarian, however seemed to be a decent selection of vegetarian and gluten free options. Parking: Plenty of parking and only a short walk from Dockside shopping and leisure park. Kid-friendliness: A number of families with babies and young children on sitenwhen I visited.
Fine wine and dining with an amazing outlook over the river and Upnor castle.
Popped here for lunch and what a pleasant surprise. Creative menu, delicious food and specialist local drinks. Highly recommend and will come back again to try more!
Leave aside all your prejudices about English cuisine. We loved everything. The welcoming and attentive welcome. You have to reserve, its always full. Dont miss out on cocktails that are pretty and tasteful The cuisine is original, inventive, surprising and delicious. The service is efficient, fast but not too fast, just what is needed. We had an excellent evening, in a very successful industrial setting, with refined cuisine and friendly waitresses. I recommend booking your next dinner in Kent there.
Love this place, always delightful food and service
This is one of my favorite places to dine. The atmosphere is great, the views are incredible and the food is out of this world. Me and my partner celebrate our anniversary here every year and the staff make it so special. They always remember who we are which a lovely personal touch. Something I always look forward to is the creativity in the menu. So many different flavours that I had no idea would compliment each other. The complimentary bread starter is one like no other too. Thank you for being such a great team and running one of the best restaurants in Kent.
I had the most wonderful experience with my father visiting The Pumproom, from start to finish the service and attention to detail was exceptional. We went for breakfast as a special treat for Fathers Day and we loved every minute of it. The food was delicious served hot and so tasty. I highly recommend the full breakfast it was yummy
Its a really good bar with spectacular river views. We love popping in for drinks and being made to feel special by the amazing staff. One of the best bars in Meday. Service
Lovely spot by the harbour, especially for special occasions. Great service and very accommodating when our group asked to change spots due to the unpredictable weather.
Discouraged from sitting outside, then sat outside as more people turned up. Food and drinks are over priced, and this place is trying so hard to be something it isnt. Serving 4 slices of small garlic sausage for £5 as a small plate .....£12 Margarita cocktails....laughable!
A lovely place i didnt eat so havent rated for food,a great place to chill out lovely scenic views we sat outside had a coffee and a beer Kid-friendliness: Kid friendly they even let my 13 year old eat her KFC in there
Amazing venue with a great outdoor area along the river.
Great experience had by everyone and would recommend
Enjoyed the chill out experience here.
Excellent location with picture perfect views across the Medway to Upnor village and the Upnor tudor fort (its not a castle). Beautiful old pump house building sympathetically repurposed. Plenty of on-site parking and adjacent bus public transport. The Menu was very limited though, and along with the drinks, horrendously expensive and way over priced. Service was rushed and irritable. It did not make for an enjoyable experience. I will not be going back any time soon. I was also served two Mojito coattails at £12 a piece, that contained no discernible alcohol. This place is a total scam and they are taking their customers for mugs. In a cost-of-living-crises and with mortgages being ever more squeezed with rising interest rates, what gives? I will be surprised if they are still in business by Xmas. As an alternative I suggest you walk from your front door to the nearest drain and throw at least a hundred pounds in cash into it and then walk home. The experience will be the same, trust me. Better still, give the money to a charity and then you can at least feel good about it. Beware the Chatham-ite butter - the ite is marmite! What were they thinking? And calling it Chathamite? That s a pejorative and derogatory term, meaning that someone who hails from Chatham is a chav or untermensch.
Such a lovely place, perfect for a romantic dinner, or lunch or if you need a nice cocktail.
Exceptional food, fantastic location. What s not to love xx
Had a tour of the distillery and some gin tasting on August 11 2023. Excellent. Also spoke to a few of the staff working in the restaurant. Everyone was lovely, very welcoming and knowledgeable. Must return for a meal soon.
Loved it. Great tapas, lovely building, great staff, gin and tonics and wine.
Great place, but only one choice for a non-meat or fish main course! That was very disappointing. Vegetarian options: Only 2 choices in the starters and just one choice for the main course. Very disappointing
I met up with a work colleague for breakfast here at the Pumproom. The breakfast was great quality along with fantastic service from the staff who were very attentive. I will be returning.
Fantastic distillery tour followed by amazing cocktails and a cheese board to die for
Top notch food. We had an amazing dining experience after completing the distillery tour. The cocktails were some of the best I have ever tasted and the food was faultless. We have rebooked to eat there again and can only speak highly of the staff, restaurant atmosphere, restaurant appearance/ architecture and food.
Tolle Location
Unbelievable food. Great staff. Beautiful restaurant. Do yourself a favour and go.
Have been to the Pumproom a few times now, for special occasions it cant be beaten. Thursday special 2 for 1 ribeye steak is fabulous, and when we last went it included the chateaubriand! Our friends were blown away by the quality of the meals and the ambiance, it was glorious on the Terrace. We are so lucky to have this first-class restaurant on our doorstep. The menu changes regularly too, so youre sure never to get bored.
The staff went out of their way to accommodate us. Great food and cocktails.
Very good food and a nice vibe/setting. Monkfish and beef delicious. Server was polite and lovely. Only criticism is the desserts were not the best and it is a course Ill skip next time unless they change - our whole table tried them all and thought the bread and butter pudding with melted cheese just didnt really go together; chocolate and olive oil also did not work; and the semi-freddo was a bit plain. They felt over-engineered - nothing wrong with doing classics well! But well be coming back to try the Sunday Lunch.
Popped in for Sunday brunch. What a fabulous experience Welcoming staff from all, Gemma looked after us beautifully Highly recommended Food : 5/5
Delicious lamb Roast, mint sauce unreal, yummy cocktails and sticky toffee pudding !!
Great ace to go
Gorgeous food, impeccable service, beautiful building and wonderful attention to detail. The homemade marmite butter is worth the visit alone. By far the best restaurant in Kent; Michelin star should be looming i imagine.
Highly recommended, great food, great atmosphere, and great service. There is ample parking, and because of the location, you have great views across the river. The staff are very friendly, welcoming, and courteous. The food is excellent and at a very reasonable price. The pump room is part of the Copper Rivet distillery and in the same building, so you can enjoy a truly marvellous selection of their gin and mixers. You will not be disappointed
We only popped in for a coupe of drinks - but ended up staying and having quiet a few cocktails which I can thoroughly recommend :-) . Charles kept them flowing and was very knowledgeable of the area and the fantastic venue - he was very polite and helpful. Well worth a visit if you are in the area.
One for the foodies. Enjoyed a delicious three course meal at the Pumproom. On the pricier side but you can taste the quality and expertise that has gone into preparing the meal. We knew from the bread course we were in for a treat, some sourdough and focaccia, accompanied by a marmite butter and trout. Then for starters, I enjoyed the bone marrow fondue with smoked eels and cockles - absolutely delicious and potentially my favourite meal of the evening. For mains I had the iberico pork chop with stout jus, apples and potatoes. We also got triple cooked chips (a must) and greens for the table. Dessert was probably our least favourite course, I had the Creme Brulé with Some of A Gun Coffee liqueur - and although nice, the coffee notes could have been stronger for my taste. All in all, a wonderful evening with wonderful food. Would recommend anyone visiting the area to give this hidden gem a go! Vegetarian options: At least one veggie option for those with dietary needs. Kid-friendliness: Probably not so much for the kids
What a great venue. Fantastic food. Will definitely go again.
Really lovely food, very expensive though
Had a great pre Christmas meal. The portion sizes were very generous and everything was cooked to perfection
Had a gin tour with naomi, very knowledgeable and experienced with her information. Very interesting, also got to taste some vodka and gins. At the end you are taken into the pump room for a complimentary drink. Didnt eat here as was not very keen on what was offered on the lunch menu. You also receive a voucher for £5 off buying any alcohol (has to be used that day) and 20% off food for your next visit within the next 2 months.
We meant to have some tapas but ended up being sat at the fine dining area. Foods were delicious, friendly staff. I had celeriac lime baked as starter. I was very impressed of how tasty it was, never had celeriac before and tried to cook the same thing at home. Its lush , quite proud I could duplicate the taste. Recommended!
Wonderful - every course was delicious
Amazing place. The food is out of this world. Really good value for money. The one thing that is really special about this place is how welcome they make feel and how they go the extra mile. I told them one thing about my son for our Christmas Eve lunch and they spoilt like crazy. They were so attentive and appreciative and I it was the first thing that has got me into the Christmas spirit all year. Could not ask for a better space to spend Christmas Eve for environment, food quality and atmosphere just amazing.
Good service, excellent food. Interesting dishes on the menu. Very good wine list, will definitely return.
Amazing food and service. Would highly recommend.
Great experience - lovely setting, delicious food and drinks, very nice staff. It s fine dining, so won t suit every taste and budget, but for a once in a while occasion it s perfect. One slight negative surprise was that Amex is not accepted- for a place like that I d expect it to be. The kid s portion was huge, think it could be on a smaller side. Other than that, hard to complain. We had a lovely time.
Great nosh Great cocktails and service too a real asset to the area.
A little pricey for a small cappuccino if youre out walking and dont want to use the dockside coffee shops but the decor, service, toilets, cleanliness and friendliness of staff is tip top! Recommend the tapas.
Cant think of a better restaurant in the Medway town area
Nice Lunch with Civic leaders from across Kent. Phenomenal Building to dine in. Good quality well presented food.
The staff here are very accommodating. The chefs are incredibly talented. The overall experience here was very pleasant and I will be recommending to family and friends. Keep up the good work!
Prices a little more than Id normally pay but Sunday Lunch was top notch.
Excellent food, service second to none, excellent choice of wines. A must visit if youre in the area.
Beautiful food and service; didnt expect the quality and were so impressed.
Best calamari for me
Very good food, also a really nice touch with the pre starters (bread, butter, pork belly bites) on the other hand the service from the kitchen was a bit slower than expected with big intervals.
An amazing setting, perfect service, delicately crafted but proper cocktails and the best food for miles. I cannot recommend this place highly enough. Go. Here.
Food, vibe, view all are great
Beautiful stunning place delicious cocktails and food great views
Following tour of Distillery had a very nice meal in the restaurant. Staff are very friendly and attentive. . Food was excellent. Will return.
Visited here for parents Birthday. Reading other reviews, I am always a little wary of fine dining quality & taste does not always meet the term but was really impressed with the Pumproom. The food was tasty and full of flavor and looked good. The staff were very friendly and attentive, and the location and atmosphere really made for a great lunch experience. One little, small detail that really impressed us, if you sit outside in the sun, there was a row of suntan lotions for the fairer skinned. It is these little details that make you go back, which I will
Fabulous as always!
Delicious food, great wines, cocktails and spirits set in a striking historic building. I heartily recommend a visit.
What an amazing experience we had today . Service outstanding, food superb and atmosphere so relaxing. By far the best restaurant in the area ! Worth every penny .
Went for lunch recently on a Friday and have to say it was very impressive! Staff very polite, attentive and welcoming. We ordered some Tapas along with some cocktails. For the price, I have to say a couple of the dishes (sweetcorn) were slightly underwhelming, however the fritters and chorizo were very tasty indeed! We will definitely come back to try the restaurant on a nicer day!
Great venue. Really nice selection of local wines and great food.
The venue is brilliant and the service cannot be faulted. Little surprised on ordering the burger on the lunchtime menu for £15 then I had to pay an extra £6 for chips. The burger and bun was the same diameter as an old penny it was about 2 inches high . Pretty to look but underwhelming as burgers go. It did taste good
We picked from the Tapas menu.Ordered six dishes, all really tasty.Service was relaxed and friendly.Looking forward to returning.
Best restaurant by far in the medway area, beautiful views amazing food and superb staff *****
First class Restraunt food excellent service excellent.
Great fine dining experience, very pleasant atmosphere, courteous and efficient staff, and a nice touch for my birthday, couldnt fault anything and couldnt be happier. Much recommended !
Very welcoming. Extremely friendly staff. Our server masie is exceptionally engaging. Good prices. Extremely clean establishment. All employees are very friendly from the host/hostess, bar staff, servers etc. I enjoy the overall experience when visiting The Pumproom.
Somewhere different to go for a special birthday treat
10 out of 10 for the staff and restaurant, however I thought the food was average with the starter of scallops and crab totally over priced at £20, sorry forgot the picture of that, would I go there again yes I would the pictures are of canopies and roast beef and Yorkshire pudding with vegetables.
Really nice food, lovely setting. Chef explained how it was cooked. Lovely complimentary breads. Nice to have a quality restaurant in the Medway towns.
Probably our 4th or 5rh visit here. Wonderful restaurant, food, staff and ambience are all 5 star.
Food was delicious and the service amazing x
Food excellent staff excellent tour excellent what a great time you must go we all had such a great time thank you.
So pleased we came across this place. We sat outside for hours on a sunny day, sipping lovely drinks and eating lil dishes. Service was great from all the team. Only negatives would be.... the A La Carte menu and Sunday lunch menu are a lil overpriced in our opinion and the ice cream sandwich dessert was impossible to get a fork into, very difficult to eat. Ended up sending it back.
The staff are extremely welcoming and friendly. We tried the traditional Sunday roast today. First it came with the bread and starters which are absolutely delicious! I especially love the creamy butter. I forgot what it is but it tastes like duck liver. The radish and the pumpkin cake is tasty too. Then it comes the main course. The tender beef is just outstanding. It is so soft that even my grandma can chew. I don t like the Yorkshire pudding elsewhere but mixed with the gravy here, it is very juicy. We don t like roasted potatoes so we asked if we can change it for fries. I guess the chef insisted that Sunday roast should come with roasted potatoes so it is served this way (sorry if it s a weird request), but they re so nice that they gave us some fries as well. Finally the dessert is also really good but we re too full already, so we took away all of them. Warm services, good food, scenic surroundings (you can see the Upnor Castle from here), this is all you can get from the Pumproom!
Wonderful meal, tasty drinks, and great outdoor atmosphere. We shared the steak and it was cooked to perfection. Hadn t been here since it changed from the deli, but will 100% be returning. So lovely to have somewhere like this so close to our house.
Food was excellent. Staff extremely pleasant and overall experience was wonderful
Was nearby so popped in for cold drinks on a hot day. Manager was apologetic the terrace seating was full, and was very kind and helpful throughout (together with all the staff). Great selection of drinks and food and a funky industrial vibe going on. Prices were reasonable and a lovely location. Really liked the place, will be back.
The Pumproom tapas bar today. Staff friendly and knowledgeable about the premises and food. Tried six tapas and the mixed breads, as well as two cocktails. First class experience and so impressed booked the Sunday lunch.
This place deserves to have a michelain star its food is amazing, staff extent Friendly, views amazing, couldnt fault it
Very nice. Great cocktail selection and wonderful tapas.
Great food and hospitality, plus the sunsets on the decking are a must. Our server Eden was extremely helpful.
Great place
Incredible food and service! Best Sunday roast I ve had in a long time, And not badly priced either. They also bring out little bites for you to try making the experience even better. Thank you so much :)
Absolutely brilliant meal cooked to perfection is the only way to describe this place. The Pump Room restaurant is undoubtedly the very best in Medway! An absolute must for any foodies which I cannot recommend enough. The venue itself is lovely and clean and has beautiful views out over the river. The menu is exciting and very different ...definitely different and without a shred of doubt, fine dining at its best. The staff are friendly and so very helpful. All in all, my first visit was a fantastic experience and it most definitely will not be my last. A superb restaurant right on the doorstep...how lucky are we? Well done to all at The Pump Room!
A delightful find, a short walk from the marina if youre coming by boat, fantastic food and a beautiful view. Good value too.
Parking: Very good food if you want a perfect roast on a beautiful restaurant this is its .thank
Very nice tapas, costly, but excellent food and service welcoming staff.....
Went there for my Birthday and Jamie, our waiter, although being new, was fantastic! The service that he gave us made me put a review. His attention to details, couldn t be any better! Friendly and polite, he served my whiskey exactly as I wanted and top the evening with a happy birthday touch!
Gorgeous tapas. Stopped by on a whim and was not disappointed. Great location and wonderful staff.
Went here for the Gin Tasting and Sunday lunch. Very well presented and clean distillery. Tour very informative and tasting 5 gins and a free drink at the bar. Service in the restaurant very good and friendly staff with a smile and very interactive with the customer. Portions a good size and little touches like the Ham taster and the Whisky sour jelly. Overall a great experience and worth going to find out about the whisky and gins they make there. The butter with the bread is mixed with the leftover yeast from fermentation to make a sort of marmite butter. Very tasty.
Really great food and lovely setting Vegetarian options: Great veggie dishes as well as meat
Everything about it was 100%
Wonderful building although food a little on the expensive side but really really nice!
When we booked we were not advised they only offer two menus. We were initially seated in the a la carte area and told to move if we wanted tapas. So we had to move to the bar area. The a la carte menu looked nice but extremely expensive £30 plus for a piece of meet with each veg dish £7-9 extra. The tapas menu was very disappointing and limited. And expensive. There was only one dessert on offer. Not enough choice. We had 2 on offer cocktails, two soft drinks, coffee, bread olives and four tiny tapas. Our meal came to £149 for three with a £17 service charge added. I can understand that some diners would want and are prepared to pay for an a la carte menu surrounded by lovely river views but the tapas menu was very limited, overpriced for what was on offer and the service could have been better. Parking: Easy parking available.
Wow is all I can say. Excellent local restaurant. The best in medway in our opinion. Great food, big smiles from chatty but professional staff all inside a beautiful building. Highly recommended to visit whether it is for dinner, their always changing tapas, or Sunday lunch (best cauliflower cheese ever!)
Im afraid it is not for me ,visited for lunch ,the food was ok but not spectacular as you would expect for the prices very small plates of food even for fine dinning. Staff were very pleasant though.
This is a wonderful restaurant with an innovative and varied menu for that special occasion. The service is superb and the location is great too. Really good vegetarian choices as well. Recommended at highest levels if you want something extra special
Visited for lunch on a Wednesday. The lunch menu was quite limited but quality was good and service was excellent Lovely building on the edge of the dockyard close to the Marina. Food : 5/5
If you like to leave a restaurant hungry this is the place for you. We had a Christmas meal, 3 courses for £52. The starter and dessert were little more than a mouthful and the Christmas Dinner was tiny. Being hungry still we asked for some more bread but was advised that we would be charged for this so left it.
Oh dear oh dear - what has happened to the amazing pumproom? I believe many will be happy that a very low key version of Maguires has returned. Personally Im disappointed at the degeneration in quality and service. Terrible VFM. If you want overpriced pub food, dont come here.
Not sure what had changed here but the lunch I had was disappointing compared to my previous visit (which was some months ago and was amazing). Small portions but still expensive, and not up to the standard it was before. Won t be rushing back.
Loved it
Excellent.
Loved the tour. Works Christmas dinner was about what Id expect. Good service
Great place for a party with friends.

Absolutely stunning place ! Amazing interior throughout! Delicious food ! Friendly and comfy atmosphere for ether romantic, party or casual friends out ! Drinks for every test, just ask barmen if your one not on menu ! Impressive professionalism and kindness of all staff! Sunday roast 10 out of 5 ! Highly recommend! But don t forget to book in advance, it s always full
Excellent gin. Nice atmosphere. Shame about the gentleman that greeted us. Talk about rude. He ordered us back to the door to scan in then looked us up and down then decided to give us a table. The gin was good though. 3 stars only for the rude waiter.
Amazing food and drinks.
Loved the food and location . Its so good to have this on our doorstep
My partner and I went on the gin tour and found it very educational and fun, the manager Domonic was extremely knowledgeable and answered any questions we had, we followed the tour with a delicious 5* meal and wonderful cocktails on the terrace. The staff were attentive, professional and personal which made the night a wonderful experience. We will return with friends very soon and look forward to it.
I was dying to visit this place and when I finally got the chance to go there was no food being served. I decided to stop for a drink at the sunny river and enjoy my sip of Copper Rivet Distillerys drink. Scenery, beautiful interior and the quality of gin was good. Service could have been friendlier. They treated me as I was a displaced foreigner who was lost there. Maybe you could have a pre-made small tapas menu for when you kitchen isnt in full capacity for serving a la carte. A bit disappointing as anybody could pop by and want to have a bite especially during summer.
Absolutely incredible food and service was spot on. Thoroughly recommend it.
Lovely friendly staff, excellent food and great atmosphere. Cant wait to return.
Now refurbished and stuck up! We used to love coming to this establishment when it was informal and dog friendly inside and out. Now it has sadly become too upmarket for our liking it is now Fine dining We came for a coffee. It was not what we expected as our coffees were served in a pretentious tiny double skinned glass beaker. Even the waiter who delivered it commented he was afraid to break one. With one little rough cut sugar cube. As for service there were at least 7 members of staff ambling around but difficult to get the attention. For a Fine Dining establishment the apron wearing staff looked rather informal. Mismatched jeans white shirt and trainers. I can understand having comfortable shoes as that is important however the rest of the uniform was not uniform. This establishment has now come off our highly recommended list so it will not be getting our punt.
Great food, we sat by the terrace and had drinks and tapas. Leah served us and she was amazing! Highly recommend!
Fine dining excellent service, second visit, cant wait to return.
Lovely setting especially on a sunny day.Food and service very good
This was a good experience. The guide new his stuff and got everyone interested and involved
Did the distillery tour ... very interesting. Only had drinks in the Pumproom, but looks amazing
Had a wonderful afternoon, a tour of the distillery with Kai, very informative and interesting to see how the gin is processed, followed by a taster session and a drink on the house. Great way to spend an afternoon.
Amazing food and service. Loved the new cocktails and autumn a la carte
Excellent food, you can tell by the quality of the local produce used in dishes and the care in which it is presented that these guys take fine dining seriously. Awesome attention to detail in the service and very knowledgeable staff, 100% all round for our experience here, beautiful old building as well
Edit - the Pumproom has been complety refurbished and has a new menu and bar and its even better! Try the cod and the tenderstem brocoli!
We visited this Restaurant, for the second time, last Saturday evening for Dinner. As on our first visit, we were most warmly welcomed into, what is, a most delightful Restaurant, with beautiful decor, and some very interesting pieces, depicting its original purpose. Our amuse bouche were delicious, as were both our starters and main courses. The level of Service is outstanding - both Professional, yet very friendly at the same time. My partner and I have eaten at a few Michelin Star Restaurants (our favourite being Epic in Belfast), and I feel that the food at the Pump Room is equally deserving of such an accolade. Thank you ALL. We will be returning customers, and we wish you every success for an exciting future.
Amazing!!! Food is great, best I ve had in Medway and best I ve had anywhere for a while. Really friendly staff and the place itself is beautiful. Lovely gin and whisky.
Great service, excellent food, fine dining at its best. Well done!!
Absolutely lovely. The food exquisite. Great service from staff. Wish Id taken more photos of the food!
Great location. Nice staff and lovely food. Recommended.
Superb food, great atmosphere and wonderful staff. Cannot recommend this restaurant highly enough
Excellent food and service in pleasant, atmospheric surroundings
Simply amazing, if you are any sort of foodie, you will love this. We visited with friends and were amazed by the interesting menu and the attention to detail. We would all go back in an instant, the staff were extremely friendly and knowledgeable. Dont delay, book a table.
Food was 5/5, it was the first time I had a vegan main and didnt regret having a meat option, absolutely delicious! But the restaurant was short staffed and the wait was SO LONG, almost an hour before we got starters, long wait between the courses too. Shame as the food was great but the wait really spoiled the outing.
Devine food and drink, lovely staff and a unique venue. Highly recommended. Well definitely be going back.
I liked the fine dining menu, very innovative yet when u eat it , it just makes sense. The only one suggestion as I had the parsnip parfait with banana ice-cream, walnut and bacon. I asked for bacon to b remover, which they have done, but instead of replacing it with something salty that would balance the overall sweetness of the dessert....I was given another sweet item and white chocolate crumb. I think ....and thats just me, that maybe salted cracker crumb or something would b better replacement for bacon in this case. It needed that saltines there. But over all great concept and gin ...deliciousl and not overpriced.
Super service. Hats off to the chef, the food was delicious. We would have preferred different music. But we r oldies. We had the Tapas menu. Next time it will be the a look a la carte menu. Well done the Copper Rivet. Some very nice touches.
Excellent food of small delicate proportions and very expensive.
