116 Hudson Ave, Chatham, NY 12037, United States
We offer sit-in indoor or outdoor deck dining ( weather permitting), as well as take-out, grocery, deli favorites and all your breads, pastries and gluten free items galore!
Walked in at 2:55 PM. Door is wide open sign still out front , before I even get through the door girl yells oh hey sorry the kitchen is closed. I said can I just get coffee? She said no and I said nothing and she said no nothing. Oh well. So I said to myself, you’re open until 3 PM. I just wanted a cappuccino .
Yummy veggie omelette with gluten free toast and fruit cup. All enjoyed outside under shade trees! Friendly servers, too! Lovely way to start the day!
We used to love ODB. But the past few times we visited it was awkward and stuffy. Previously you'd be seated to order like a typical restaurant but now you order at the front and they bring you your food and drink when it's ready. Which is totally fine but that's not clearly explained so we were left unsure what to do until I asked. And the food isnt necessarily as described. Unfortunately they used to make some of the best chai lattes and this time around it was cold and had so much cinnamon I couldn't even enjoy it. We love the idea of bussing your own table but none of the canisters were labeled for recycling, trash, compostables so everyone was just tossing things into one bin -- which was sad.
AMAZING AMAZING AMAZING & Nom Nom Nom is all I have to say about EVERYTHING produced and cooked and made fresh here daily. The staff is as good as the food(since there isn't any better than here). I WISH I took a pic of the delicious coffee, Olive Loaf(OMG!!!-The BEST!!!), Sourdough loaf, eclair, muffins & truffles.... alas, you will just have to settle for a WOW spicy, juicy chicken sandwich with perfectly crispy hand cut fries....NOM NOM. Its worth the 1 hr drive we make to come here - EVERYtime. Enjoy...
1/14/2023, Sat: I purchased from their bakery at the NYC Union Square Greenmarket with the tgtg app where they were very generous in quantity, where I had a chance to sample a number of their bagged and loose loaves of bread and baked goods. - My favorite bread would be the 'Whole Grain Sourdough' : organic whole wheat flour, water and salt, for $5.00 which I just tried, and which is made with all natural sourdough starter and no commercial yeast, and salt and water and whole wheat from NYS. It is the most dense and whole grain of the natural sourdough without commercial yeast. - The favorite loaf I tried other than the whole grain (whole wheat) sourdough is the: 'Seeded Rye': Bread Flour, Water, Rye Flour, Sourdough Starter, Caraway Seeds, Salt, where the bread flour is likely refined white flour, and the rye flour likely has whole grains and no commercial yeast. It is the last photo listed below. - I tried the bagged gluten-free seedy rye (most popular, but not natural sourdough yeast),: Water, organic sorghum, tapioca starch, organic garbanzo flour, egg whites, apple cider vinegar, organic millet, flax seeds, sunflower seeds, NYS buckwheat flour, cane sugar, organic canola oil, potato starch, yeast, xanthan gum, sea salt, -> and I tried the: - bagged mixed grain: which is also not sourdough and uses regular commercial yeast: Bread Flour, Water, Whole Wheat Flour, Sourdough Starter, Rolled Oats, Sunflower Seeds, Sesame Seeds, Millet, Flax, Cracked Wheat, Yeast, Salt - The ciabatta loaf of bread is un-sliced without a bag and mostly sourdough and is white bread and appears to have some commercial yeast: INGREDIENTS: Bread Flour, Water, Sourdough Starter, Olive Oil, Salt, Yeast. - The morning glory muffin, which is a dark brown with oats on top (my favorite of muffins) has some whole wheat: INGREDIENTS: flour (all-purpose, whole wheat), carrots, brown sugar, sugar, eggs, apples, raisins, cranberries, canola oil, walnuts, baking soda, baking powder, cinnamon, salt. , while the - cranberry and blueberry muffins use white flour but I believe use local berries: INGREDIENTS: flour, sour cream, cranberries, sugar, eggs, butter, baking powder, vanilla extract, salt, baking soda. - The Cranberry Cornmeal Scone - $3.00 INGREDIENTS: flour, dried cranberries, butter, cornmeal, eggs, sugar, half and half, vanilla extract, baking powder, salt, uses regular white flour. - The Mixed Grain Croissant $3.50 Local & organic whole wheat flour, wheat flour. butter, millet, flax, sunflower, sugar, yeast, salt, was one of my favorites and uses a whole grain whole wheat. - Summary, the prices are reasonable, and this bakery features NYS local grains, and does offer a whole grain sourdough bread without commercial yeast, and has some whole grains in their muffins such as the morning glory and the mixed grain croissant, but could use more whole grains and natural starter sourdough in their breads and other baked goods, including the gluten-free options (even though the gluten- free options do include decent whole grains such as buckwheat flour).
Everything was super fresh and delicious. The falafel and pastrami sandwich was amazing 👏 They even have a gluten free bread option for sandwiches! They also have an amazing grocery selection, I picked up a bag of fresh mixed greens, some goat cheese and olives to make a salad for dinner.
This place is always solid, great selection of Mediterranean/Jewish Deli themed breakfast and lunch items. The Reuben was delicious and the whitefish chowder is also solid. In the summer the deck pit back is great to sit on. All round good wholesome food and coffee!
Lovely place. Stopped by for breakfast on our way down the Taconic. They have counter service bakery and a cafe. We chose to sit in the cafe. I had the Challah French Toast, my husband had their special, Pastram Omelet and we ordered a side of hash. Breads, hash, and biscotti (a piece served with my chai latte) are all house made. Service center friendly and food was exactly what you want on a Sunday morning.
Nice friendly clean environment, great staff, food is excellent. Prices are good, and you definitely get your moneys worth. Would recommend to family and friends AND people I dont know. Overall ratings ... great! 5 stars Food
Great gluten free selection. The hueves rancheros were delicious. Gf carrot cake was superb.
Worst customer service and ridiculously unwelcoming. Everyone working seemed annoyed to have customers in the shop. Hugely disappointing, and nearly every item in our takeout order is wrong. Nice selection of pre-packaged gluten free items.
Love the daily bread and shopping experience turn,
This is one of my go-to spots in Chatham, with good, authentic Jewish lunch and pastries. I was happy to discover that they are now open on Tuesdays. Since the pandemic they have switched from sit-down service to counter serve, and I have to say it was more enjoyable before the change. You have to bus your own dishes, and this time, the bussing station was a huge mess, with dirty dishes stacked all over--pretty gross. Also, Ive always thought it would be nicer if they played music in the dining area. Its so strange how quiet it is. You can hear everyones conversations around you. Music completely changes the atmosphere of a place. As for the food, the corned beef sandwich and matzo ball soup are always reliable and delicious. I tried the smoked salmon sandy this time, and it was disappointing. It was more of an onion and tomato sandwich with a little bit of salmon. The amount of onion was pretty over the top; I took most of it off. I was still hungry afterward, which annoyed me, since this sandwich was a dollar more than the corned beef, which always fills me up. I wound up getting a blueberry-chocolate chip croissant muffin, which was delicious and tasted like a cross between a chocolate croissant and rugelach. Ill still come here whenever I am in Chatham, but I wont be ordering the salmon sandy again. Ill just stick with my regular corned beef.
Tessa your wonderful attitude and knowledge of product was so incredibly helpful. Your suggestions were a hit!! The only thing better than the pastries I purchased was the service I experienced while I was doing so. Tessa thank you for being you, I truly hope your day is as amazing as you are!!!
Nice place good food n service wish they had Togo menus
I order the gluten-free breads they are far superior to anything in the grocery store. Thank you for perfecting your gf recipes. Ive had some really awful breads that Ive purchased in my local grocery store that are very expensive. Im so pleased. Thank you again. Dietary restrictions: Gluten-free bakery items are amazing.
Love the staff, very warm friendly atmosphere. Not to mention delicious bread, pastries, and self serve coffee!
Food was so so good. There cream puffs are my favorite, I wake up in the middle of the night craving their cream puffs. Their coffee is the best around here, There lattes especially. they re creamy and the foam was so perfectly steamed. The service was amazing. The cashier, Grace, was really nice and so cool. They had the best music as well. All in all was really such an amazing experience, and would highly recommend!!
The sabih breakfast sandwich is absolutely to die for. My wife got the lunch version of it and loved it too. We will definitely be back!
Take that exit! stopped in for Flourless Choc and Apple Galette to go en route north on the Taconic. It was like taking love to go.
The five star people are obviously not local. I ve been going here since this place opened the management is horrible pre-pandemic at this place was great. Let s get some management and start waiting on people again.
So good. Cant wait to go again!
Went in to get some lunch got me n my gf a turkey club was delicious real roasted turkey crispy bacon and the bread is delicious I had sourdough would come back again for sure
Wow! after so many last-minute changes, Gavi and the wonderful new chef pulled through with an excellent catered dinner for 30 of salmon with feta and veggies, some lovely sides, breads, and desserts. Delicious food, easy to work with (although we werent!) -- what more could anyone want? Thanks again, ODB!!
Always great food at reasonable prices.
If you havent stopped by it is a must that this place goes to the top of your list. Its not just the delicious food and aromatic coffee(especially the mocha, just saying its my fav) Its the amazing people behind the scenes. No matter what day I walk through those doors I am always greeted with a smile. Every person is kind and considerate. I always feel welcomed as though I was part of the family. The flourless chocolate torte is a must have. If you like orange and chocolate combined you must try the chocolate covered orange slices. I am bad at remembering names but there is one beautiful soul whos always there. Shes always so cheerful and happy. Im grateful that there is a local place I can go to purchase Gluten Free. Thank you to everyone at Our Daily Bread.
I can 100% recommend the corned beef hash. Order and pay at the counter, take a seat and theyll bring it to you.
I heard about a gluten free bakery, so I went to check it out. Small little shop that can make sandwiches and breakfast items. The gluten free stuff was simply small loaves of bread, small packs of cookies and a few other treats. Most of the product could be found at a grocery store in the gluten free section. But it is made fresh out of their bakery there.
Delicious cranberry and walnuts bread
Exceptional deli and bakery.
Our Daily Breads Almond Chocolate biscotti are a delicious and satisfying treat. They are made with fresh, high-quality ingredients and are gluten-free. The biscotti are crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside, and they are packed with flavor. They are the perfect snack or dessert
The lox sandy at Our Daily Bread Deli is the greatest sandwich ever made. The lox is fresh and flavorful, the cream cheese is smooth and creamy, and the sourdough bread is perfectly toasted. The sandwich is also well-assembled, with just the right amount of each ingredient. I highly recommend it!
I go here for the rye bread every so often. Fantastic, and just like I had in the Bronx in the 50s.
30-minute wait for a sandwich at the deli counter with no other customers ahead of us? In a hurry? Go somewhere else. Also not all baked goods are fresh - my scone crumbled to dust in my fingers. Update: Returned a second time (in case first time was a fluke). Same sandwich, now 40-minute wait and counting .
Bought two loaves of bread, will buy again. Delicious!
Great sandwiches, friendly people, pretty garden out front! Also, the gardener, Emily, stopped to give my stalled car a jump. Thanks, Emily!
Expensive
I really like this place.
Food not bad but sad to say the bread has gone downhill. Used to be very good. Sourdough is usually over baked - sometimes almost black. Challah used to have a good crust and a nice yellow color inside - now it is pale inside and the crust is squishy. Cibatta has lost its distinctive flavor and is just crusty white bread. (Hate to say it, but I now prefer the challah and cibatta baked from frozen dough at the local supermarket!). The mixed grain seems to be the only consistently good bread. What happened?
Delicious sandwiches and soups, amazing bread, baked goods and wonderful gluten-free bread, cookies & biscotti. Order online is available, just check bag to ensure all items are inside; if ordered item isnt available you can easily substitute but you need to notice its not in the take away bag...
I had an absolutely perfect Jewish brisket sandwich from their specials, so good!
Food is great. Service has gotten pretty bad. Seems like no one is in charge. The dining-in experience went through the floor. I just get takeout occasionally now, and you will usually wait a long time. I want to give this place 5 stars, but the customer experience there hasnt been good since lockdowns.
Sesame chicken sandwich was SO GOOD, and ready super quick! Highly recommend
Very good service by jahnyah and Noah giving us wonderful food all day.
the guy working at the troy farmer s market on 11/04 was very kind and helpful! and the bread looks great and delicious! God bless!
Top quality stuff here
I love everything in this place. The food is delicious and personal it was amazing
Great salads!
Delicious gluten free bakes! Got the bagels and a vegan fax loaf. All delicious.
Their food is always great. My only complaint is the coffee. It is never hot always luke warm.
Our first time and we couldnt have been happier! First the smell of fresh food, locally sourced ingredients and baked items wow. And the friendly excellent service and care we received once inside made us then want to try it out. Was hard to choose but we had the fried chicken sandwich and the falafel on angel pita special. OMG soooo good! If we lived up there we would be regulars. And after looking at the full menu and website we want to try every last offering. Thank you and we will be back!
Must visit if youre in the area.
We went for lunch. Here s my comment: That was chicken salad? I have never tasted anything so padded out with red onions and celery. No hope of it tasting like chicken salad!!! My wife s cranberry and chicken salad was greens with the same ugh chicken salad dumped on top of them with walnuts and cranberries sprinkled around. Yeah, now readers are going to reply that all of Chatham raves about your chicken salad. Sorry it s awful.
Really good
Consistently good food and service. Gluten free options.
Food and atmosphere is great.
Great breakfast. Awesome blueberry muffins .
I got the pumpkin cinnamon loaf and it was really good!
Great place with a wide variety of food. Alot of vegetarian options as well. They also serve fresh baked bread, muffins, and other baked goods. As well as pastries and coffee.
Food was pretty good. Its quite a drive for us, as otherwise wed probably try some other menu items.
Wonderful service and delicious food definitely will return if passing through again .. we had the brisket Reuben and spicy chicken sandwich both with a side of homemade fries, a tea and freshly squeezed orange juice. Probably one of the best meals I have had from any cafe or restaurant lately
I think this bakery has the best bread in the capital region. they have a great variety and allow you to order online and do contactless pickup. they are very friendly and always happy to help or correct in order. They also have a nice assortment of pastries and some deli items as well.
First visit I usually buy their bread at the Farmers Market. It has lots of other hard to find items and operates a deli. Will try this when the weather warms up.
Always tasty and delicious. I get the 2 eggs, potatoes and bread. Good deal!!!!
Excellent food & service!
Recommend the OBD Reuben. Delicious!
Lovely little gem of a place. Plenty of GF products. Cozy and warm atmosphere. Staff were quite helpful and friendly.
Great quality food at reasonable prices. Nice setting as well.
They come to the Saturday Delmar Farmers Market. Their Cranberry Walnut Bread Id the best and the molasses cookies are yummy too.
A favorite place to stop when traveling through the area. Very nice bread and great menu offerings.
Really really good. Everything was fresh, delicious, and the breakfast sabih was particularly unique and tasty!
Absolutely love this place! Menu options are unique with lots of healthy options to choose from. Atmosphere is lovely, staff are helpful and very friendly, food was incredible, so fresh and delicious. I highly recommend.
First, the staples: delicious bread, excellent coffee. But also: tasty food, diverse menu, big portions, fast prep, great service, indoor and outdoor seating. My only personal ask would be they add a vegan cookie or scone to the assortment of sweets. But even without the treat, Id go out of my way to come back.
Food very good. The out side setting could be a litter cleaner. No one clean tables after uses. The gutters were dripping with dirt. An staff need to get it together.
Very pretty outdoor space!
Wonderful deli with nice outdoor dining. Favorites are the pastrami and the sabih.
Tasty lunch spot. But a lot of their pricing on their menu is out of date
Always stop here when I pick up my grandson.
Stopped in Chatham to find a place for lunch. What a great place! Excellent fresh food at a reasonable price. Our Daily Bread a place well blessed!
I was there on Sunday, ordered my egg sandwich, told the waitperson twice I was eating on the back deck. After waiting 30 minutes and noticing everyone around me already getting their food, I was told 5 more minutes. After that happening 2 more times and 45 minutes later, a young woman with a stapled bag came to my table and said, Heres your To-Go order. Somebody put it outside by mistake. Never going back!
The best bread Ive ever had! Tried the whole wheat sourdough and it was fantastic. Will be going back for more.
Perfect place. Reminds me of the texan outdoor restaurants where you order through a window. We loved our Sunday brunch.
Great pastries. Good breads. Simplified sandwich menu, for eat in or, take out.
Delicious. A wonderful culinary gem in Chatham. The family enjoyed a perfectly cooked grass fed burger and a yummy falafel sandwich. We purchased a few treats: chocolate brownie, chocolate truffle drops, freshly baked Ciabatta bread and local cheese for the rest of our road trip to the Berkshires. Everything was so delicious savory and good.
I feel like it was a hidden gem although the town is really nice. Loved the food options. It was absolutely scrumptious!
Disappointing. Take out experience was poor. We ordered sandwiches to pick up the day before. When my husband arrived for pick-up they ignored him for ten minutes and when they finally acknowledged him he found out that somehow the order didn t print out and nothing was ready. He didn t check the order before leaving and when we settled down for what we thought would be a nice picnic we found part of the order was missing (we had paid for it the day before though). Food was tasty but expensive. I might give them another shot for dine in but by hubby would not.
Gigantic portions with a gorgeous outdoor eating area.
Everything on the menu is excellent and not only enjoyable, but well prepared. Beautiful outdoor area and peaceful. What more could you ask for?
Service is slow af. They dont foam the milk correctly, and they dont blow out the steam wand on the espresso machine. If not for the meager gluten free options, id say skip it altogether. Buy their producta from other stores, like the berry farm, and save yourself the hassle.
Food was great staff were helpful cant wait to eat the cream puff i took to go
Pretty fun diverse menu for Chatham. Like the expanded cafe compared to the original more intimate Main Street version (though also charming). Decent pastries nice beverages pretty good service. Good mix of eat in and takeaway options with a lovely patio for summer. Overall a solid option. Didn t love shakshouka but enjoy eggs, cheese pastry, hot chocolate, etc.
Decent breakfast sandwich.
Great quality!
Discover good Israeli cuisine where you wouldnt expect it. Bakery restaurant formula. The terraces are very pleasant and the portions very generous. Menu also accessible to the less curious, but dare nonetheless.
Best French Toast covered with strawberries and real maple syrup there is. Wish I lived closer.
I did not care for the food offered as dine in options.
I have been coming here with my family for years. Its a staple in our life and It s just great on a lot of levels. The food is NY certified Legit . Meaning it has that extra goodness you get from true ethnic people and old school care. Love it. The hummus is yummy.
Great bread ok food
Love it. Awesome food.
My breakfast of stuff French toast with blueberry compote was delicious! Our waitress Alysha was very attentive and personable to make the meal a better experience.
Good is great! Staff is friendly
If you cant enjoy these oatmeal raisin cookies, you cant enjoy life.
Our lunches were delicious, and they have lots of GF options. Would definitely go back
Top healthy choices with a menu and bread made daily! A go to when your meeting someone. You know the food will be reliably amazing. Offerings of local goods and products
Delicious and generous portions.
Servings are very large for the price, great food, great quality! Will be back for sure!
I just threw out my lunch: a takeout order of BBQ Brisket Reuben that supposedly had Russian dressing on the sandwich (didnt); and, despite the fact that, according to the website, this comes with a side of slaw and pickle? No slaw, no pickle. Inexplicably, there were fries, which I did NOT want. The meat was stringy and tasted weirdly like plastic, if it had any flavor at all. Overall It was, frankly, disgusting. Not sure whats going on here, but this was the worst takeout Ive had in a long time. Id give it less than one star if I could. Ive had good food from ODB in the past, but this will keep me away for the foreseeable future.
Great food, friendly staff and they do a good job managing safety requirements.
Good stuff
Amazing bread, cheese and soups!!
A go to place when you are meeting another. Food is reliably delicious, wonderful surprises on the menu. The owner is kind, warm and genuine.
Freshly made bread.
Super interesting place to go for breakfast. They have super great coffee and amazing breakfast
Wow, what an amazing surprise! I came in here not expecting much, but as soon as I was in the door I found the atmosphere pleasant and the aromas extremely promising. The food was absolutely fantastic, from the appetizer all the way to dessert. Would absolutely recommend this place to anybody looking for lunch or breakfast in the area
This place is a great stop especially for breakfast. I would high recommend stopping here to eat. The service is incredibly friendly as well as quick. The restaurant has both an indoors and an outdoors eating area which works perfectly for all temperatures. The food is very delicious and very varied. From meat lovers to vegans, I assure you that you will find the perfect dish here. I would recommend ordering the corned beef hash and hot chocolate for breakfast.
Good
Thanks to Chatham HS softball for recommending
Went there to have breakfast they did a really turning a older home into a nice warm cozy place to grab something to eat. I know it attracts the local crowd as well as the people from the city. I thought the food was good I thought it was a little bit more expensive than the other restaurants in town but at the same time it is one of the nicer ones so if youre in Chatham stop by our daily bread you wont be disappointed
Exceptional
Delicious
Very good
Bit expensive but yummy and waitstaff is good, coffee is good
A little expensive, but its soooo worth it. Must try if your in the area.
Great spot for breakfast or lunch.
Friends in town loved the breakfast hummus dish!
Love this place -- just wish that the take-out food werent so plastic-heavy. I routinely request no plastic containers for things like sliced deli meat (compostable paper or recyclable foil is totally fine), but I have a ~50% success rate in having my request honored. (update) 1) My favorite manager there approached me today to say shed read my review and wanted to make this right -- this is ONE of the reasons I love ODB! 2) My concerns about plastic are based on what its doing to the environment. I know staff wants our food to be presentable and hygienic, AND they probably get endless directives from health inspectors.... but anything that can be done to reduce the amount of plastic in the system is a good thing, in my view, so I always ask. 3) My husband told me that the star system should not reflect a single quibble, but the overall experience, so I have changed it to 5 stars. Food, staff, and atmosphere are great.
Love the food! Great prices! Great atmosphere!
Great food. Atmosphere was very family friendly
Ki
Had the Brisket Hash dish and Omelet. Both meals where very delicious. We will make an hour trip just for Breakfast a few times a year. Very nice place.
Food was fresh, and menu had plenty of choices.
Everything was delicious here. Every single dish was excellent. The prices were great and I cant wait to visit town again to drop in for brunch.
Best made sandwiches in the area. Fresh corned beef, brisket, turkey. Old world deli style!! Butter grilled bread. Absolutely makes the work day better when you get your lunch here.
Fantastic breakfast!
Awesome meal for a reasonable price!
Such a wonderful setting on a back deck with live Irish music. A delicious brunch, friendly service, and yummy chai latte.
Tasty brunch expertly prepared
3 strikes and your out..1.. people right next to us were so noisy that when we were leaving we mentioned it to our waitress..she said that was the manager so she could not say anything to her 2.. went there with another couple..food was so so..brisket was dry and cold.. 3.. today tried again..manager was rude..made a point of checking her watch..it was 2:35pm.. manager was even rude to the waitress who seated us..and loud enough for us to hear we walked out.. Been a customer of daily bread for 15 years..a customer no more
Delicious Reuben.
Outstanding restaurant featuring many interesting dishes from deli meat sandwiches to Greek dishes as well as interesting brunch dishes.
Great food, good sized portions.
Great lunch sandwich while traveling through.
Good food. Good staff.
Wonderful lunch. The Reuben might have been the best Ive ever had!!
Nice place
The place is well located in Chatham, NY. The staff are knowledgeable about the products, friendly and helpful. The food is fresh and top notch.
Great sandwiches, and a lovely little lunch spot. Enjoyed my burger, and all the bread that our sandwiches came on was clearly fresh. The local dairy and beverage fridges were welcome. Prices were about what I d expect for being right off an exit ($8-$12 per sandwich).
Great food
My daughter and I had a wonderful lunch. Service was prompt, cheerful and professional. Our daily bread is consistently clean.
Good quality Amrican food
This place always serves highest quality food, with wonderful service. Its always such a pleasure to come here.
great place and food great cookies and pies
Mmmm... meatloaf sandwich with mozzarella and red peppers...
Great bread and large selection of bake goods, gluten free options.
Love the bread they make but our lunch this visit was not very good and the service was no better. Definitely a bit pricey.
Delicious as always!
