The Watling Rasoi in Chatham

Have visited twice over the past 6 months. Once was for the excellent Elvis night, and the other was with a group of friends on a Saturday night. On both occasions, the quality of food and service was excellent, with a great overall experience.

Good food The best in Medway Kent Food

This is my first time visiting this restaurant the best rajastani dish Ive ever had staff are super friendly service is top notch must try this place trust me you wont regret it

First time here, must say we were pleasantly surprised. We were made very welcome, the service was excellent and the food was very good.Highly recommended a visit if you like your Indian food, good selection on the menu.

Ordered takeaway. Butter chicken wasn t butter chicken. Very sweet with 0 tomatoe or spice flavours. Very disappointed as there is good reviews on here.

Waste of money and food...... no taste no good quality of food.... they put tandoori chicken chunks into butter chicken curry... butter chicken wasnt butter chicken..... just stop making fool to people

We order home delivery, set meal for 2. The starter consisted of 1 prawn, 1 lamb chop & 1 piece of paneer sharing that between 2 was quite amusing.. half a prawn each? The onion bhaji were cold, hard on the outside & mushy in the middle(yum) the popadoms had less crunch than a lettuce leaf! The main was oily, sloppy & the chicken was dry, the onions were slimy, I ve honestly had better microwave meal curry s. Everything was barely warm & quite honestly a disgrace to Indian culture AVOID.

We discovered this restaurant back in May 2024 and have not looked back, the food is outstanding, the best we have had(!) and always tell the staff each time we visit. Poppadom with toppings followed by our starters, Tandoori King Prawn is my wife s favourite, mine is Chicken Puri, our mains - Salmon and Chicken Tikka Masala, Sag rice/Egg rice, Onion Bhaji and Chips the portions are plentiful that we find ourselves so stuffed mid-way through the meal, we ask to take the left-overs home; we aim to try various dishes but so far, I am the only adventurous one! The décor is lovely, the staff are always helpful and happy we highly recommend it!

The dining experience where was incredible, we hadn t booked a table but they accommodated us perfectly. The food was delicious and there were many options for vegetarians. The staff were incredibly attentive and they created a warm and chill atmosphere. We didn t feel rushed at all and the food came out gradually and at perfect timing. We had samosas, partha, jalfrezi, popadoms and chutney, vegetarian curry, and some rice dishes. All of the above were delicious and they even give you warm towels to wipe your hands, orange and delicious mint chocolate. Orde takeaway on farther day which the food was really good but two rices was missing from order. And couldnt get through on phone line was Presley surprised when two days later a complete meal was delivered.To are front door free of charge and we definitely recommend this restaurant to other.

The naan breads were light and fresh. The main dish was exciting on the tastebuds and we loved the crispness of the onion basis. The service was very good too. Would highly recommend.

Avoid! Ordered a takeaway costing nearly £30 and I would not order again. 2x biriyani full of oil, soggy rice and bland with no flavour. Asked for green chilli rather than cutting them up they added them whole. Aloo chop and chicken pakora no flavour at all. Never again.

We visited early on Christmas eve, our party was 9, including 2 vegans and 2 children. The service was excellent and the food divine. Freshly cooked, scrummy and plentiful. The Rosario starter was big enough for 2 people to share!

We were looking for a new Indian takeaway as have been disappointed in the last couple we have had. This did not disappoint! Thoroughly recommend. The flavours were fantastic, the portions great and the meat, chicken, beef and lamb were all so tender. We have found our new go to takeaway. Fantastic job. Well done to The Watling Rasoi - we will also be dining in soon. Would give more then 5 out of 5 if I could, thank you for a wonderful meal and reasonably priced too.

We were glad we booked Rosoi for a meal, was a last minute decision. We had not been to a restaurant for quite a while, so picked this place at ramdon. Great food, and plenty enough. friendly staff. Highly recommended.

To be honest I found the food a bit oily and bland, no real flavour or spice.

Just had a takeaway for the first time the chicken tikka masala was far too sweet, the saag bhaji was very salty and the naan bread was doughy the prawn Puris were dry sadly cannot recommend this restaurant and will not be ordering from here again

I usually get take away and I have to say this is the best in medway towns. Great fresh taste, correct on level of spice, not too oily, delivery outstanding. Cannot fault it. Keep up the good work. Vegetarian options: Only restaurant that does quorn curry. Thank you.

Ok so we went here for opening night and was amazed. The place has been remodelled and completely changed. Its a modern,light open intimate space. Its tastefully decorated and with no background music so you can have a conversation with relative ease. So we come to the food. No starters although seeing what others had I wish we had now, for me a main of mushroom rice and achari chicken for my partner a dansak. When the food came out it was hot and smelt amazing and the taste didnt disappoint, portion size is spot on both plates cleared and a nice full up feeling. No food went to waste and you werent left feeling like you needed more. So glad to have a nice restaurant to pop to.

After weeks of excitement about The Watling Rasoi opening on 8th June, my husband and I went here for dinner on Friday 10th June. Although the decor is lovely and modern, I made the following observations: The service is very poor, we were greeted, taken to our table then served popadoms and we ordered our drinks, but we were not given a menu - we finished our popadoms then had to ask for a menu and our drinks again so that we could order our starters and main courses. The starters eventually came - we ordered the Rasoi grill platter to share - however, the malai chicken tikka was totally missed off our dish!! We ate our starter then got a menu again to read the description and let them know - the malai tikka was then sent to us with our main courses. Luckily I took a pic of the dish in advance for Instagram. For our mains we ordered a Rasoi Raja Rani which was a chefs special dish which was meant to include lamb tikka, lamb mince, chicken and mushrooms all in one dish with a shot of flaming Sambuka!! We also added a mushroom rice and garlic nan. Unfortunately, once again, half of our dish was missing!! what was served was a lamb curry with lamb mince but there were no chicken and mushrooms!! I called the waiter over and highlighted that there were two items missing from the dish, he went to the kitchen to ask and came back 15 minutes later to tell me that the chef didn t know there was meant to be mushrooms and chicken in the dish!!! There was no offer to replace the dish, in fact the waiter was rude and told me to be patient as the restaurant was only open for the third day running!! Although we did not get what we ordered, the food we were served was tasty, however due to the lack of drinks and service, our first experience was ruined. I was annoyed that the waiter was rude to me, in earshot of other diners, so I called the owner over to express my disappointment - he reduced the main dish as we only received half of it, then when we paid the bill we realised that he had added 3 extra drinks to the bill!!!! Absolutely outrageous, when I calculated the bill again he then refunded what he had overcharged. Overall, The Watling Rasoi has a lot of potential but the staff need to drop their egos, the waiters need to be more attentive to menus and drinks, and they need to double check the food before it leaves the kitchen. In addition, they need to reduce the number of tables by 2 in order to ensure diners are not so close that they are unable to have a conversation without those on the next table hearing. On a final note, as the food was flavoursome, we will be back to give it another try in a few weeks time in the hope that the waiters would have settled in to a better rhythm.

Absolutely delicious food. Customer service second to none. Wide selection of food and drinks. Something for everyone. We usually go all the way to Bricklane for a good Indian, but this is out of this world tasting food and will make this our new regular and takeaway aswell. 100% recommended.

Not a 8 not a 9 but a well deserved 10 out of 10, really well priced for the experience of the staff who keep refilling drinks, taking away anything that is not being used, continuing to ask if we need anything keeping a birds eye view to make sure we have the best experience they can offer. Air conditioning, clean place throughout. Now lets talk about the absolutely legendary food which me and my wife both give a 10 would highly recommend everyone to try promoting this restaurant we will be coming back. What an enjoyable meal. Was tempted by the fish offerings, particularly the tillapia. But, went for the reliable chicken bhuna instead. The best curry Ive had in ages. Definitely the best saag aloo. Even my husband agreed and hes a tricky customer! Fresh, tasty and filling. All the courses were well presented and promptly served. Staff were very attentive. Drinks pushed the price of the bill up naturally. Attended with a toddler, who enjoyed the creamy pasanda. Older kid had their first byriani and nearly finished the plate. Restaurant itself was spotless. Will definitely be returning, a wonderful new find.

Super clean site and the staff were really friendly and attentive. The food was delicious and well cooked. The toilets were 5 star according to our very choosy child. Just a really lovely place and we will definitely be back.

Despite having a fully booked evening my wife, baby and I were accommodated and welcomed in, last minute. Very hospitable and charming place that catered for my 1 year old baby. Im a big fan of Indian food and this restaurant really does the cuisine justice. Very tasty and delicious meals, it was extremely good food, right up there with some of the best weve had. This was my second visit to this restaurant. On both occasions the food was excellent, served promptly on warm plates. Today I tried Chicken Badami, which was delicious. Just as important, the staff are welcoming and attentive without being overbearing. Crisp white table linen and comfortable seating all contribute to the pleasant atmosphere. The Watling Rasoi deserves local support and I shall certainly return.

Food is lovely - best around. Been a few times to eat in and last time there I felt like there could have been a few more bits of meat in the curry, hence 4 stars

So glad this place has opened! The food is delicious. Meat tender and each dish has its own unique taste. The chaps who work there couldn t try and do more for you. My only negative would be I m not going to get fatter and poorer lol

Went for my birthday meal, it s only a little way up the road for us. The staff were friendly, didn t fuss too much but enough to not make you feel like you were left hanging there for your order to be taken or take your dishes away. The food was hot, lovely and well presented! The atmosphere was great too and it was nearly a full house of tables on a Saturday evening. I would 100% recommend this place and we will be going back for sure.

Highly recommend this restaurant, the service is fantastic, the food is out of this world, it s got lovely decor and honestly cannot find any faults. I recently had a meal here with a group of friends, it was a Friday evening and the restaurant was busy but still very spacious and comfortable for everyone. I had previously had a takeaway which was really good, both the portion size and quality of the food was excellent, so we decided to visit the restaurant. The service did not disappoint, the team were welcoming, polite and could not do enough to ensure we were happy. Again the food was delicious and all for a very reasonable price. I would highly recommend this restaurant and we will definitely be returning. Best one in Gillingham in my opinion. Thank you guys for a wonderful evening.

The Watling Rasoi is a gem of a place, staff can t do enough for you they are very professional and cater for your every need. The food is top notch. So great to have an amazing restaurant close to our home, we are regulars there now and couldn t recommend it enough, just lovely.

These new guys have taken this restaurant over from the old owners. They have worked so hard to revamp the restaurant with everything brand new. The restaurant is so clean with beautiful tiled polished floors and comfortable seating and the new bar made from sparkling granite stone very posh. The menu has totally changed. This is well worth a try the food taste gorgeous. I have ordered food from here 3 times in the past week because we have no kitchen at home at the moment. And having a completely different menu there s so much food to work my way around and try. I actually walked in last nite just to meet them in the restaurant and say hello. The staff and owner are very friendly and helpful. When I was in there last nite I had already ordered my food and whilst I was waiting I witnessed a dish they brought out to another customer and when they presented the dish to him they set fire to it a big flame on the dish it looked amazing I have never seen this before? I will definitely give this dish a go next time. Apologies for my writing I m not the worlds best writer but I just think this restaurant and the guys working there deserve a great review as they have worked hard for it and earned it. Well done guys keep it going. Vegetarian options: Vegetarian dishes are so good I m not a vegetarian but the vegetarian dishes have so much taste and flavour you don t need meet in them they just so good.

Been once before and loved it. Had one successful takeaway. Went back tonight for my dads birthday and food was shocking. Had to send back my starter as the knife would barely cut the chicken. Then had a chicken naga chicken was mildly better but still inedible. Two of the other dishes had also over done chicken in but they braved it. Sent the main back. Left hungry for some toast and jam at home. Staff were friendly and apologetic. Took my starter and main off the bill and then my rice as they tried to charge for that. Claimed to have been busy with take always. Restaurant had a few tables in but wasn t that busy. Either different chef tonight or he didn t give a hoot to the quality of the food. Won t be going back in a hurry

We had our first visit to this restaurant tonight. We were seated in a booth which was very comfortable. The restaurant is bright and airy and modern. The staff were very welcoming on arrival and took our umbrella for us. Service was excellent, polite, helpful and warm. Food was great! We had beef shatkora, chicken karachi and sag paneer with rice and garlic naan. Lovely meal . We will be back for sure! Thanks for a nice dining experience!
