Upstairs Coffee house. Great put-together with Vinyl and book collections. Great coffee and pastries
I have dined at The People's Pub several times, and it has always been 5 stars for me. This last time, however, the food was a disappointment. I ordered the Steak Frite, and the steak was very tough. Plus, the steak knife was inadequate as it could hardly cut. In spite of my negative review, I will certainly return to the pub because it has never disappointed me before.
Lovely, lively atmosphere on Trivia Night! The food for the four of us was very good, up to the usual high standard! And this particular evening, they were short staffed, but the bartender covered our table in the back and was a fantastic server, attentive and affable, he was a real pro!
This pub was so much more than I anticipated. I have lived in Columbia County my entire life and only recently walked the Main Street of Chatham. Boy, have I been missing out! We went on a Thursday night just on a whim and found that on Thursday nights, they have Drag Queen Karaoke! Brian, the bartender, made us feel so welcome and comfortable. He got to know us and even curated drinks specificly for our taste. The performers were incredibly fun and welcoming, so much so that they even convinced me to sing two songs! It was one of the best times my husband and I have had out in a very long time! We can not wait to come back and try the food.
Mid-scale rating, the People's Pub, with an accent on beer and other alcoholic drinks I give 4 stars. Room fir some improvements. My burger was made to perfection. The fries were a bit dry, but at least they were made on site. My daughter's fries were served with 3 sauces. And while she was waiting, she was watching/observing the kitchen staff preparing plates. She was engaged in conversation and treated to a few "extras" which she was happy about. Our server had a great sense of humour, albeit with a bit of flare. He walked with a bit of authority, and I mistook him for the owner. Overall a much nicer ambiance and character than the Philmont Local, and some peculiarly named menu and brew items. I would like to go again so I can aim for a 5 star rating. One off-putting ditty was that when a french fry dropped off my daughter's pile onto the table, our server imnediately scooped it up and tossed it in his mouth and winked at me and smiled. Humourous, yes, but not entirely appropriate. A little too aggressive with refilling our waters as well... if you are going to leave our refill water on the table, let the customer handle refills. This is constructive criticism, meant to be noted. Thus the 4 stars. Great place for families and couples, reservations or not. I would recommend. *thumbs up*
UPDATE: the owner personally reached out with a long, down to earth email to rectify the situation and explain things a bit. He was very respectful and I appreciate that, it’s better than most businesses. 4 little shrimp and with no scallions but they are mentioned on the menu, for $15. I would not have paid that much if I knew it was so little. $30 For steak and absolutely no seasonings or salt, but it was cooked exactly how I asked, rare, so I guess it wasn’t all bad. Everything else like house sauces fries rangoons *almost* made my $100 dinner kinda worth it. Kinda disappointed though still for the price. Maybe just a busy off day.
Really loved this spot - food was terrific with cauliflower starter with spicy sauce and bacon that was to die for. Fish sandwich and Mahi Mahi was great. Nice beer selection including some good VT beers and my wife enjoyed the quart-size mason jar of tasty sangria. Sit across from the open kitchen for a great view of all the incredible food getting served. Great music as well. Definitely a good evening and good to be had here!
Went to the People's Pub tonight for the Yummy Kitchen pop-up and it was amazing! The drinks were great & the food amazing. Overall atmosphere is very chill & relaxing. A great place to go for a drink!
Great atmosphere and drinks!
Great food & service. Very good fries.
Excellent drinks
Friendly warm atmosphere, good food. Not far off the taconic. Vegetarian options: Good falafel Food : 4/5 |
Great spot
Good customer service. Quality bar food and some fun and different options. Fun bar to sit and enjoy a meal after a hike.
Shoutout
The skinny cook from the back is the most arrogant, drunk douche bag I have ever met the way he criticizes people and thinks he is the boss in charge when nobody has done anything wrong. True disappointment.
Super yummy, nourishing vegetable barley soup Wow!!!
Tried to get to the Th oyster night 3 times to no avail - always running out of oysters by 6:30PM. Last time January 12 at 6:23PM they told me they had 600 oysters - all sold out. May I suggest to order more based on the popularity of the item? Also why they always put a square pay surcharge on my bill? Is it only me? I thought its illegal to add extra for using credit cards. I could be wrong...
Moving to the area and so happy to find a friendly, local pub with such great food. We hope to return often.
The servers are kind and friendly. Always love the food so much. Fresh and made right in front of you. I love the environment as well. The only wish that they would start making mocktails and carrying some NA beverages.
We dine there once a week during our summer vacation. It is simply the best restaurant in the Berkshires. The food is imaginative and the service is welcoming (unlike many , many places in the Berkshires). Highly recommended by the Holtz Family.
Loved the falafel plate!
My Ahi Tuna was perfect.
My favorite bar in the whole area. Food is great, drinks are great, atmosphere is great, people are great.
One of our favorite places to go...
Staff here are wonderful. Nice place
Great atmosphere and great food. Relaxing dinner in a warm, comfortable space. Wings, cheese/meat board, ancho chicken tacos, lamb barbacoa, grilled cheese, carrot cake dessert - all were very good. Friendly and attentive staff. Definitely going back. Thanks Peoples Pub.
Great atmosphere
Fantastic cocktails. Great vibe.
Awesome beer selection. Cool atmosphere. Had some great food options to fulfill the 5 stars here.
Really bad food. We ordered steak au poivre and a caesars salad, planning to split them. And an order of wings. The steak was inedible - not a drop of sauce on it and shoe-leather tough. I asked the waitress if that was steak au poivre. She said it was, and pointed to the goopy sweet sauce on the edge of the mashed potatoes which Id been trying to eat around. Not a peppercorn in sight. Meanwhile, the caesar salad is grilled - they actually cook the lettuce (ouch) and then torture it further with an overdressed, thick, garlicky paste. The waitress never asked how is everything or anything similar. So, when she saw we were finished (meaning, Id already eaten the 10 overcooked green beans and some of the mashed which hadnt been infected by the mystery sauce - but had only eaten a bite or two of the nasty meat) she asked if we wanted to take it home. I said, no thanks, its terrible. They charged us full price for everything. But lets give the place two stars rather than one because the whiskey sour was excellent, and the chicken wings we had for an appetizer were fine.
The monthly oyster night special is a favorite and in October we had live music.
went to an open mic here. Nice little pub with a friendly atmosphere. Id give more stars if I could
Pub fare on Main Street. Stop by this beautiful bar with a view of main street, enjoy a drink, listen to live music. Kitchen staff works so amazing to watch them put the food together. Kid friendly fare. Delicious grown up non alcoholic drinks, too,!
This is one of the best dining experience you can have even during these difficult times! Angus and the Crew put out phenomenal food; have a great selection of drinks; and the atmosphere could not be more welcoming and comfortable! An experience that shouldnt be missed, whether youre looking for a snack and a drink or a meal that can stand up to any 5-star pub!
Great food! Cozy, comfortable atmosphere. Great service! A very enjoyable dining experience!
Committed kitchen, trust the menu.
Thursday is schmoozie schnitzel night... Ill definitely be back again!
Angus and his entourage are amazing. Good food, good vibes.
So glad this spot is back open and rockin. Really interesting and well made food from fresh ingredients. Service is very friendly and atmosphere unique in what is a unique town.
Love this place! The food is terrific - tasty, fresh - Im always disappointed when I take my last bite! I WANT MORE! The restaurant is very welcoming, the staff friendly. Weve been there three or four times since they opened a couple months ago...(not sure how long its been open). Well keep coming back too!!
Great meal.Buffolo Bourbon wings , chicken piccata and tiramisu. The food was amazing as well as the staff. Very great food, pleasant staff and environment. Very clean restaurant as well.Owner also came over and introduced himself to us .Everyone looked like they enjoyed their job, and of course was great at it.Food also came out in a timely manner and the place was packed! We will defiantly be back.
Wonder meal! Great service and atmosphere! This has become our favorite pub!!!
Thursday night Karaoke is the bomb.
Very busy when we arrived but they seated us pretty quickly even though staff was literally running around like crazy. Food and drinks were very good. Open kitchen and busy bar area kept us entertained. Friendly staff all thanked us on the way out. Great place!!
Great spot, great food and service always on point. We stop every time we go to Chatham!
Despite calling itself the peoples pub, they are genuinely uptight and not really people friendly. The bar staff is Snooty and slow, the servers angry and confused. the food is bland, paltry and overpriced. I would not recommend this spot to anyone.
My favorite place to be in Chatham! The service is exceptional, the menu is diverse and well prepared. The cocktails are perfect! Cheers! See you next time!
What a warm fuzzy feeling I got in this place twice a month on Wednesday they have an open mic night with great musicians real nice bartender in a great pub
Cozy setting and nice that it has transitioned more to a real restaurant with a kitchen. Definitely a bit variable, sometimes I m pleasantly surprised and other times I m left wanting more. Recently wings were alright, lamb chops were not great (under Or uncooked diced veggies were very meh). Nice having another restaurant option in town, just wish it was a bit more consistent.
Dinner was delicious. Our waitress was great. Happy and friendly. Been there twice in the last 2 weeks and will be going back
Good beer & good food makes a great combination
Very relaxed comfortable vibe. Good choice of booze. Good tasty food. Great service decent prices. What more could you ask for?
Its good ya know!!!
The Peoples Pub has an awesome selection of craft beers and wine. In addition to the variety at the bar, the food from the kitchen never disappoints! Great place to grab a few pints after work, or dinner and a movie before the Crandell.
The food is good but expensive for the amount you get. Also, during the COVID19 lockdown they sold pints of beer to-go. The 16oz beers they advertised were served in 12oz cups. I thought I d give them the benefit of the doubt but I measured them one time and they were 13 ounces.
LOVE the Pub! Great variety of food, drinks, and safe service!
Ordered takeout for a birthday dinner during COVID restrictions. The food was excellent but the take out containers were terrible. Many of the dishes, like chicken parm (which tasted great), wer squished into small cardboard boxes which made the food look unappetizing. The french fries were tossed into a paper bag and obviously got mangled. The fried cauliflower was outstanding but the order was super small for the price. Fried ramps were creative and tasted great! Their homemade sauces were also very good. I hope they can improve the take out containers but well try again because the food was excellent!
Amazing atmosphere, food is so delicious and plentiful. People are friendly and service was great!!!
Fun spot with unique menu and great beers!
Exceptional food and service. Amazing Atmosphere. A personal favorite place for dinner.
A godsend: a cozy place with innovative food and absolutely world-class beer.
We didn t know they only open for dinner so we arrived a bit early (they were still setting up) but they kindly served us drinks at the bar while we waited. We ended up having dinner at the bar when the kitchen opened and we kept low expectations because a friend said she didn t know if the food was still good due to recent staff changes. Well... we were pleasantly surprised because it completely exceeded our expectation (so much so that we returned a second time). They use very fresh (house-made) ingredients in their food and cocktails. The staff is very friendly and personable (offering us out-of-towners some local suggestions). We re looking forward to eating there again during our visit next year.
Thyme Garlic Buffalo wings are the best flavor I had in my life. Really cool vibe in this joint. Awesome mixed drinks and beer selection.
The chef is creative, the beer is crafty and the music by Jimy Graham is extra special
Terrible food. Terrible service. We had been here many times in the past and it was adequate. But this time was a total disaster. First they made us sit by the front window due to the lack of tables. From there they said we needed to order our own food and drink from the bar. A few minutes later a small table opened up and we requested that we move to it. Our main courses cane before the appetizers. The bean burgers were a pile of mush with no flavor. Ketchup might have helped but no waitress checked back with us to see if we needed anything. The appetizers were noodles with a horrible peanut sauce. All in all a disgusting mess. Definitely our last visit.
Sorry... Food was not good. Went twice in two weeks because I had heard it was good and wanted to give it a fair shake. First time I had noodle salad, it was dry, some of the noodles not cooked. Second time had wings which were not good. Many people had too many drinks... Will not go back.
The food is absolutely delicious. We loved the meatloaf burger and double crispy chicken sandwich. Great pub experience with excellent open kitchen. Wish they would dim the lights in table area...then the atmosphere would match the quality of the food!
Always an amazing time a friendly welcoming place
Good food and music
Great food and service
Excellent drinks and food! One of my favorite places to eat.
We were traveling from a play in Williamstown, MA to Poughkeepsie, and wanted to have a meal and break up the drive. We often stop in Hudson, but we wanted something on the route. Found The Peoples Pub had the most consistent good reviews, so we stopped in. I was a little leery when we opened the door, since it looked more like a bar than a restaurant. But its a legit restaurant, although with a fairly brief menu. Dont let that stop you, though. The cooks in the open kitchen work their butts off to create good, fresh, food. I had a Sazerac cocktail to start, and it was deliscous. Very well made, and reasonably priced. My wife had a good red ale, after being allowed to taste a few different beers from their wide selection. Dinner for me was the poke bowl, and it was top notch. A little spicy, with top-quality fish. My wife went with her go-to meal when were trying something new--a cheeseburger. But this one was above average, with a caramelized onion compote and flavorful beef. The fries were excellent, too. Service was super friendly, and the vibe was family-friendly in a low-key way. Its nice going to a place where even small kids just fit in quietly. Highly recommend!
Had to try Oyster Thursday : pretty good and all oysters were sold less than 3 hours in ... Mine were good though most were not whole!! Nevertheless, I look forward to going, hoping to get the entire oyster next time . The beer selection is surprisingly diverse and good .. very nice... Recommend
Great little restaurant in Chatham, good food, service and live music.
Great! The beer was excellent. The chicken was marinated to perfection, fries with skins; delicious and not at all greasy, bread pudding was excellent, and it is a nice ambiance. The staff all seemed very nice and professional.
Love their cheeseburgers
Great waitstaff
An ode to the Peoples Pub chicken roulade: well meet again, dont know where, dont know when, but I know well meet again some sunny day... INCREDIBLE! Chatham was a very charming town - while passing through on a roadtrip, my roadtrip-sitters and I stopped at a pop-up farm market in town where several of the locals directed us to Peoples, where we enjoyed great service, food, and conversation.
Good food & service!
Very cozy and good food.
Wonderful place to eat and have a cocktail
Great veggie burger and fries. One of the few bars in the U.S. without a freaking TV. Great beer choices. Not cheap. But I keep going back.
Nice atmosphere and beautiful interior but tiny entree portions unless youre getting a sandwich. Our pasta and seafood entrees were $19/$20 and they were about the size wed expect from a tasting menu. Three of us split an appetizer, had water, and each had an entree and it was about $100. Went next door to the cinema to buy popcorn as were still hungry.
Great freindly people there, Beer is awsome, French frys are awsome !
Owner Angus often bartends. Beautiful aesthetics. Good food. Excellent microbrew beer.
Love this place, great for a quick bite and a few cocktails! Excellent atmosphere!
Fun pub that gets very lively on the weekend nights. Good beer selection and full food menu
Kind of pricy for Chatham and the service is only ok.
What a gem. The menu was fantastic. Was blown away by the beer selection. The service was great. Wish this place was closer to home.
Quaint pub in a cool location.
Expressive drinks. Good food
Wow! This guy can cook!!! Just saying. The place is kind of long and narrow but you will not notice it when you sit down, relax with your favorite beverage, listen to the band and savor the meal that this chef lays down on your table. I loved it.
Excellent draft beer selection Ambiance is great service was too cool for school
Excellent service. The menu is amazing and the drink selection is top notch. This place hits it on all cylinders.
Casual but semi upscale restaurant pub a few doors from the theater.great changing menu items, eclectic rotating beer and cider list as well as crafted cocktails,an upstairs coffee bar and weekend live music.enough variety to have return visits with a different but familiar experience.
Professional knowledgeable bartender. Intimate atmosphere. Great food options. I must go to if youre looking to have a relaxing night out in Chatham.
Great vibe. Consistently friendly service. Food can be hit-or-miss. Had some great meals here. Had some mediocre ones. The fried chicken sandwich IS something to write home about. Overall, the rotating list of beers, carefully crafted cocktails and vibrant scene makes it a great stop.
Good food, good place
Fun, laid back, easy going place on main Street. And fun live music. Good food too
This place is always the right choice. The staff are all so inviting and personable, and the chef is the most talented you will find in this area and quite frankly most other areas as well. The menu has something for everyone with the chef always open to bespoke cooking for any dietary restrictions or preferences. They do not only advertise as farm to table, but you can taste the freshness in every bite of perfection.. it is a wonderful atmosphere to grab a drink with friends, dinner with a loved one or a group , and definitely a place to catch some great live entertainment. Keep up the great work, cheers !
Service was great. Enjoyed the peoples board and the wings. Wings were nice and crispy the way there wife likes them. Plenty of tap beers to choose from
Great food
Great food and service. ..will be back
Great food and atmosphere!
Food was fantastic. A little pricey but worth it. Great service.
Good food Great service but limited menu
New chefs, new menu, good music.....perfect for winter!
food was good but menu was short for the winter.
Good food, awesome drink menu. Have always 14 or more beers on tap
Food was absolutely delicious. Handmade pasta Alfredo with bacon along with the muscles special of the night. Wonderful service as the owners like to speak with the customers. Definitely will make a stop agai.
The subtleties in the making of a good hometown pub have not escaped the proprietors of this place. At the same time they can serve up a pretty upscale menu at sensible prices. Great place to hang
Great food and drink. Busy atmosphere. Cozy.
Simply a fantastic meal!
The wings were the only highlight from a limited menu (4 apps, 4 mains) of uninventive bar food. Although the food here looked good, ultimately it tasted below average. The menu suggests the burgers are severed without fries (in fact they are served with fries) and our waitress had no interest to clarify this point, happily allowing our group (encouraging different ends of the table of 9) to order 4 sides (2 large plates of fries & 2 large servings of potato salad). The waitress left a bad taste in our mouths (aside from the bland food) by not being clear when people asked what others had ordered for the table; she gladly allowed multiple people order an excessive number of pork buns to share for the table ($11 for 2), most of which arrived at the same time as our mains and went uneaten along with the excessive orders of fries/potato salad. Ignoring that the waitress did her best to take us for a ride, the heavy food was lathered in far too much sauce and tasted decidedly average. On the positive side, the atmosphere in the bar and dinning room isnt bad and the beer list is extensive. Ultimately, we wont be back here in a hurry, thanks especially to seeing so much of our order left untouched.
Great local bar. Excellent food and beer list.
Fun place to kill some time. Very friendly and accommodating staff and pleasant crowd.
Amazing dinner lastnight Cant wait to go again.
Over rated. City prices. Hipster wannabes.
Great food
Fantastic food, service and cocktails!
Really tasty food, great cocktails and friendly staff! Its one of the best restaurants in the area!
Good beer selection. Lots of happy people.
Good food, good service... but call ahead, they sometimes shut for special events.
Cory is an outstanding chef and the only reason we come in.
The food was terrific. Fair prices, good service and great atmosphere.
Ive been in a few times over the years and just this week stopped in to get out of a storm. I had the duck wings - yes, thats right, duck wings and they were very tasty. They are sort of a little better than chicken wings in every way. The seafood mac and cheese left something to be desired, as as it does in almost all restaurants. Go for a burger or something less difficult to nail on the menu and you wont be disappointed.
Great pub! Good beers on tap, great food. I love the burgers. Specials are always good. Friendly staff and a great pub decor.
