576 Main St, Chatham, MA 02633, United States
Longtime venue serves New England seafood & Italian plates in the charming cottage or outdoor patio.
The Captain’s Table is the best restaurant on Cape Cod. I have been going for the past 6 years and it has been consistently 5 star every visit. The service is amazing and the food is incredible. They serve breakfast all day and their lunch menu has something for everyone. It is kid friendly and they are able to accommodate large groups. I couldn’t recommend visiting the Captain’s Table more - I am looking forward to going back!
If you know, you just go. If you're in town visiting and vacationing, look no further. Rest assured the food and service will be amazing. The breakfast sandwich (not pictured) was ordered and devoured by my sister. I had the Blueberry French toast casserole, scrambled eggs with bacon which was delightful. Black coffee was just right. The plates were sent back without a crumb leftover. Go!
Quaint village restaurant. Reasonably priced. Had crab cakes. Portion was huge but lacked flavour. Over all good experience. I ordered just the appetizer. Didn’t realize there was a platter which was quite a few more dollars.
Fabulous place! We had fish & chips and the chilli tacos plus blueberry cake as desert and the food was delicious! Service was very attentive and friendly.
Food was really good, The lobster roll is really good , but not great. Shrimp were really good as well. Our waiter was fantastic. Great personality. Really funny.
The place feels cozy & comfortably crowded like a favorite small town diner that accommodates everyone. The crowd included a lot of older men, so possibly it's where locals hang out as well as tourists. I tried my first warm buttery lobster roll. It was made well, tasted super fresh. Chips & dill pickle included. The chef chatted a bit, really nice guy. I tried the clam chowder which was good. Wait staff were really good. It's not a cheap place to eat but it's vacation & lobster rolls were needed. Also that flight of fruity mimosas went nicely with the more heavy warm food.
The location of this local spot is awesome. We stopped in for lunch during the after effects of Hurricane Lee so we easily had a seat. Our server, Courtney, was very upbeat and personal. Visiting the Cape from the Deep South (Alabama) for weddingness, I’ve been ordering lobster rolls everywhere. This was my favorite sized roll so far. I would definitely return!!!
We were visiting friends and decided to check out Chatham. We drove to the lighthouse, then worked out way back to Main St. My wife's great at finding interesting places with good food. This didn't disappoint. We shared the fried belly clams and a lobster roll. A quick decision captured an open patio table. Service was friendly and quick. The clams were the better of the two. The lobster roll was tasty, but I'm partial to fried clams. Special shout out for the house ketchup. I'm finicky, but liked it. Same with the tartar sauce. Well done! A very nice mid-afternoon lunch and a great stroll too.
Main St Chatham institution for 5 decades strong for a reason! The Captains Table offers great coffee and breakfast- they are an all day spot but we love their eggs benedict, breakfast burritos, and Blueberry French toast casserole.
We visited in November when there were only a few customers. Service was ok, but considering only 3 tables had customers out could have been a bit better. Both of us had crab cake sandwiches which were good, but not outstanding. Maybe it was the time of year?
Awesome
Best Clam Chowder
We waited 15 minutes for the hostess to aknowledge us - and we eventually left ; no restaurant is worth it being ignored like that (she was around and saw us, but considered that since she had no free tables at the moment she shouldn t bother talking to us).
We recently had breakfast at the Captain s Table. The menu was varied with a large list of daily specials. Everything was very fresh and all of our selections were fantastic! The service was also great, and a special thanks to Meg. Highly recommended.
Beautiful outdoor patio. Food and service were terrific!
Waitress was so nice and polite. Food was pretty standard which was all we were looking for.
Great for lunch and outside dining on a lovely Chatham day. Sandwiches are delicious and generous.
We stopped here for a quick lunch while walking around Chatham. Food and service was fine, but just be aware there is no A/C. Even as hot as it was outside, it was cooler than sitting inside.
The food was really mediocre. The town was gorgeous but go somewhere else
This is my absolute favorite restaurant in Chatham. I ve been coming here multiple times a week for the past 20+ years. The food is always fresh and delicious and the owners and staff are some of the friendliest people you ll meet. I couldn t recommend this hidden gem more highly. Don t miss out on dinners Friday and Saturday nights. Walt is a magician in the kitchen and is always dreaming up creative new dishes that are served to perfection. His bluefish is like eating Mozart.
Greatly enjoyed our brunch there
Love this place! The cold lobster roll is absolutely delicious! Despite the many guests, the atmosphere remains lively and enjoyable. Sitting outside was perfect for enjoying the cold lobster roll on a hot summer day!
Best breakfast in Chatham
Very Good Food and Service.
Nice place and very good food. Had a great moment here! Food
Had the special . Chicken Pesto and it was delicious. Snuck a shrimp my my husband s Sheimp Po Boy and it was also really good. Typical pricing for the area. Staff was nice.
Probably the worst fish and chips Ive ever had. The fries and cole slaw were the highlight. Itty bitty piece of fish. Squealing Pig in Provincetown blows this place away.
Friendly. affordable prices. local specialties.
Hours not updated on maps. Closed for season. Drove 20 minutes each way.
Was there pre season so the staff was getting their feet wet. Im still dreaming about that egg avocado and caramelized onion sandwich..... 7 Months Later!!! Food
We wandered in for lunch yesterday and are very happy that we did! The new owner welcomed us with open arms, and we had a nice chat. Our server knew the menu and easily answered our questions. The food was outstanding. They serve cocktails all day, including the biggest Mocktail menu ever. Go early!
I really liked our waitress and the staff. I order a salad and flight and it was $70. Prices were not listed. I asked to speak with the manager and she was very rude and refused to post the pricing on the menu because it s been like that for years . Unless you have $100 to spend on one subpar salad and three dixie cup drinks, don t waste your time.
Very nice good and location. Server was polite
I like the place but I ordered regular fish and chips and a soda. I got a small handfull of fries and regular portion of fried fish. Online lunch menu said $23 for the plate. I was charged $32...for fish and chips...
Great cozy place to have lunch. Food was tasty, staff were pleasant. I d eat here again.
Classic little spot on Main. Had the grilled swordfish sandwich which was delicious! There is also a great mocktail drink menu! Youd think all the reviews I would remember to take a picture before I eat but alas! Definitely stop by of your looking for lunch!
Excellent gazpacho and service.
Food was fine, but I found it very overpriced for what we received.
My hot lobster roll was phenomenal and went perfectly with a Mimosa flight! The only thing that would ve made my meal better would ve been Cape Cod chips instead of Lays. My husband enjoyed the swordfish tacos, but for the consider the cost, we had expected 3 tacos instead of 2, so hubby was still hungry when we left. Pricing was on par with other places on Main Street, and our waitress was such a sweetheart!
Great place to stop for lunch, highly recommend
A nice place to get some lunch. Good food. Service was pretty good. It was quite a cool area. Would go again.
Always a good start to the day ar captains tablr.
Very mediocre long wait on a Sunday for a table and for food.
This is always our first stop in Chatham for lunch upon arrival and it never disappoints. BUT - have to be true to your local and authentic self and serve Cape Cod Chips not Lays.
Love this little spot. Wish it was open in the evening.
Not open Wednesday.
Food is good. Service was kind of not proportionate to everyone there. Somebody waited long time somebody got everything ready. But still nice
Had lobster panini , lobster roll and lobster bisque, those are awesome.. nice restaurant in Cape Cod
Fantastic food & service!
One of the most reliable, tasty restaurants in Chatham. Family owned. Best staff. The Buffalo shrimp (not on the menu but if you ask for it, they ll make it for you) and corned beef hash are to die for. Everything s homemade and very reasonable $. 10/10 clam chowder as well.
Amazing breakfast
Great staff and food was excellent
Fast service, great tasting food. Kid-friendliness: Family restaurant
Great food, quick service and nice location. Thoroughly enjoyed my sandwich!
The food here is delicious! I have the fried cod wrap, my eyes rolled into the back of my head it was so delicious! What a great concept. Our server was very friendly and very efficient! I highly recommend the Captain s Table!
Had a great lunch and great service
We had Walter cater for 12 guys. The steaks and swordfish were amazing. Perfectly cooked. Can t recommend their catering enough!
Nice place for lunch and drinks in Chatham.
Lunch was delicious! Best stuffed clam Ive ever had. Swordfish tacos were delightful!
Great drinks, great food and great service! Very cute . Recommend!!
Great local spot, but not the biggest so it could fill up quickly during peak season. Menu was a limited, but our food was excellent. Friendly staff.
Great food and great service!
What a hidden Gem, Best whole belly clams weve had in 20years. Definitely worthwhile and the waitress was friendly and open to conversation. Outside dinning was a treat in the sunshine
Soup of the day, Tomato Basil Chicken was outstanding. The Lobster Bisque was excellent as well. We each had a bowl of soup and shared a BLAT (bacon, lettuce, avocado, tomato) sandwich on the bread. A wonderful lunch! Thanks!
I god the Cape Cod fried cod wrap for lunch. It was delicious!
Tasty lobster roll and crab cakes.
Got the best grilled chicken sandwich Ive ever had from here. The staff is courteous and friendly. Highly recommended
Overpriced main st with teenaged waitresses
Was very disappointed in the food it was ok portions were tiny, fries were petrified $22 for 8 tiny shrimp, $24 for 8 tiny scallops
Nice service, terrible food. Lobster bisque tasted like a sugar cookie (weird), salad selection is minimal, lobster roll leaves a lot to be desired and overall the food was just meh. Great location and friendly staff but I would only consider breakfast here in the future..
Service was absolutely excellent and the people are lovely. Unfortunately the food just isnt that good at all; youre better off heading somewhere else like the Squire to get your lunch or dinner. The lobster bisque was almost sweet and had no real flavor while the swordfish was bland.
The staff were very friendly, but the service wasnt great. They have very limited seating (understandable), but there doesnt appear to be a designated host/hostess. There was some confusion over our table being mixed up with another patrons. We were seated inside after agreeing to give up the outdoor table. Our server took our orders about 5 minutes after we sat down, and then totally forgot about our appetizers. We got our main meals about 20 minutes after being seated, and when I asked about our soup our server apologized profusely. I said no problem and said yes we would take the soup now despite our entrees being up already. She brought out my lobster bisque and my boyfriends clam chowder. The bisque had almost no flavor, was very runny and needed salt. The chowder was terribly thick, but the flavor was ok - average at best. I ordered the swordfish sandwich, and my boyfriend ordered a burger. Both sandwiches were very dry, lacked flavor and theyre essentially alone on the plate. The menu tells you that each sandwich is served with cape cod chips. What they dont tell you is that you get the .50oz bag of cape cod chips, so you basically get 5 chips with your meal. Very odd. Unfortunately, we will likely not return. I hope they turn things around, because its a great location and it has such potential. The execution overall just needs work.
Lovely atmosphere and environment. I had the Cape Cod Wrap which was delicious. My companions had the lobster rolls which they said were perfect. And it is all in the middle of beautiful little historic Chatham. Recommended.
Had a delicious breakfast/early lunch of pancakes during a business trip and they were excellent! Excellent service from the moment I went through the door to when I was given the bill. Great staff, great food, would highly recommend!
This is my favorite place to eat when I am in Chatham, which is not often at all. The staff are all kind and care about each patron. The food is fantastic, no matter what you order!
Best breakfast in town! And baby friendly!
Lovely spot with great service and food. Good for kids. Changing table in the women s restroom maybe add one to the men s as well?
Solid breakfast/brunch spot and they have a bar for drinks. Friendly staff and right on the main drag, they have a little outside patio area as well. The breakfast burritos were pretty good!
Great fried shrimp and clam bellies..
Nice little spot in the heart of Chatham...perfect on a summer day...food was good, drinks were cold
Food and service were great. You might think it touristy, but it is more of a local establishment. Very friendly.
Speedy service, nice costumer service, and delicious food. Great sandwiches.
Outdoor dining. Good food & service. Really enjoyed our lunch at the Captains Table while touring Chatham.
Absolutely awsum and unsung spot in Chatham. Quick, courteous, tasty and fair priced for Main St Chatham!
I would have given them 5 stars but my eggs in my eggs benedict we re over cooked. They did fix the issue and the food was very good. Steven the server was on point and very nice.
If you are not local, service is terrible. Do yourself a favor and skip it!
The food is so good. Crispy, crunchy, mouth melting food. Everything is freshly made. The corn beef hash is real and not from a can. You can see the actual meat pieces. It s great for keto as the potatoes are not mixed in.
Excellent food, drinks, and service!
Breakfast in 3rd week of Oct when Temps just dropped. Great service and wasnt too busy at all. Food tasted great too.
Awesome place
Good service, short wait (especially with limited seating due to outdoor only). Not a huge selection of beer but great cocktails!
Went for breakfast, cute vibe, prices were higher than some restaurants, but the food and service were good.
Good food. Good atmosphere
The food was good and the wait staff were friendly and quick. Everything was clean and tidy during this pandemic!
Very good lobster roll! Just the right amount of mayo. Small menu, but friendly service. Recommended!
Lobster roll was great!
Good food, good beer and good service. Definitely enjoyed this place
Nice quaint restaurant well located in Chatham. Cute outdoor seating area. Friendly service.
Tasty food. Clean. Cozy atmosphere. Good service.
Excellent beverages, food was great, sevice was exceptional!!
We stopped there for lunch during our day in this lovely town. Delicious affordable food in a fun, friendly, laid back atmosphere. Our waitress was a sweetheart! Food so yummy! Best belly clams Ive tasted on the Cape! And there were so many of them! The fried scallops on the scallop roll were delicious and, again, there were loads of them! Fish and chips done perfectly...light and flaky! And my bloody Mary?? So good and beautifully made! Highly recommend this restaurant!
Scallops were great! Outdoor seating made it safer.
Wonderful service with a smile with delicious options that are catered to your every whim. Try the buttermilk fried chicken sandwich - it was sooooo good!!!
Fresh food and a thoughtful menu, really nice staff. In a world full of stuffed clams (and I know stuffed clams, Im from NE) this is my new #1. Cape Cod Reuben was wonderful as were the crab cakes and lobster bisque. They (brilliantly) serve breakfast all day and I cant wait to return to try that side of the menu. Beer, wine & mixed drinks make this place even better.
In the beautiful town of Chatham there are many places to choose to eat. However, in my opinion and many people I know their is only 1 choice Captains Table. As a local I know. Coronovirus has made eating out challenging . Captains Table makes you feel from the moment you walk in the door. That alone would make them stand out. However, the real star of this little gem is the staff and the perfectly prepared fresh food. Diane the owner is both knowledgeable on how to be both personable and professional. Keeping everyone safe and happy. She cares about her restaurant her staff and her community. I will miss you this winter when you close. I will eagerly be waiting for opening day 2021. Thank you for all you do and how much you care. Have a wonderful winter. In the meantime I will see you soon and often as I can. A very very very satisfied and happy customer
Wonderful food and staff. The corned beef hash (part of the Irish Eggs Benedict was so good we order another one for my wife and daughter to share (the ate some of mine first). Looking forward to returning when they reopen!
We came in a very rainy day, the waitress was great and the food was tasty. Recommend the place. Rain or shine
Classic breakfast food with interesting/unique options. Small place but worth the price
Good food for moderately high price
Excellent place. Food was real good. I will definitely go back!
Ventured in on a Wednesday afternoon. Clean bathrooms, tables and quick service. Our food was very tasty, not 5 stars due to portion size compared to price charged.
Great food and atmosphere! Not sure how they do it, but Ive never had faster service in my life while eating out at a restaurant. The shrimp and scallop stir fry was amazing, as well as the halibut special. Kids menu had good choices for the little ones. Will definitely be back again!
My wife works here part time and it is awesome. Went in to have dinner this evening and the food was well prepared and well presented and it taste really good. Kudos to the chef and the lovely, friendly staff.
Service was very nice and straightforward. Food met expectations with ease, and the atmosphere of rustic tranquility created a great memory for our group. This is my new favorite spot when I visit.
Food was ok and expensive. No gluten free toast for breakfast or buns for burgers. Clean toilets and lobster roll was decent according to my son.
Food was great, service & ambiance ok.
They sat a party of 13 wothout an issue for us on a busy Friday without a long wait. Food was great, nice breeze and excellent service.
food was very good, the blueberry pie a la mode and the homemade ice cream sandwich were fantastic. nice patio area. would return
Great little place! We came with a large group and were seated promptly. Our server Jason was very nice and super helpful. The food was amazing! I loved my Reuben, and the lobster rolls were very good too. The prices were very reasonable and the portions great. Highly recommend!
This is an absolute gem. Inexpensive, yet nothing spared. Swordfish was tender and moist. Tuna was plentiful and perfectly cooked. Incredible dessert; best blueberry pie I ever had and lava cake is like the best fudge you ever dreamed of. This will be a new tradition for us for our annual Cape Cod visit.
Bland food. Definitely wont be going back. But I will say that everything was fresh. Just needs alil flavor
Fantastic local conversation while waiting for my girls to return from shopping
Excellent service love the meal first time here but a return is a Must...
Quick and easy. Wish the beer selection had a few more choices but the food hit the spot. Lots of shade on the patio.
Breakfast was great
Mostly delicious. Courteous service. You should reserve a place in advance
Excellent special (mushroom.ravioli and lobster) & fried scallop plate..great service!
Great atmosphere
All around good food
Loved everything. Drinks were great too. Day at the beach with amaretto was a real treat.
Awesome New England resturant. Great food, great location.
What an amazing meal the outdoor seating is a plus. A must go to place if your in the area.
Great food, great staff, this is my go to spot while in Chatham.
Good Food
Good selection of tasty/ fresh foods, very friendly staff. Covered outdoor seating. Small local beer selection
Liked the atmosphere, food and service
My spinach ravioli with lobster and crab in a mild stewed tomato sauce was FABULOUS!! My husband really liked his sesame grilled swordfish with soy glaze and rice. My Reisling was excellent. Service was quick. Nice selection of craft beers for the hubby, and staff very friendly. We sat outside on the porch in 75 degree weather. Fabulous!
Great casual atmosphere with exceptional food. Everything we had was delicious from the fish and chips to the seafood grill. The service was exceptional as well as the drinks.
I have been coming here for 20+ years. Food is always great. Good for casual meal with friends or family.
Nice little place to eat. Food excellent, friendly & efficient staff. Well worth a visit however very popular so maybe a little wait for a table. Well worth it!
Best breakfast burrito my husband had ever had! Went with 3 children ages 2 - 12 and they all enjoyed something.
Great service, good variety for everyone and tasteful food! Highly recommend
Fantastic mussel chowder. Great quick food.
We had terrific clam chowder and lobster bisque as we dined outside on their patio.
Outdoor dining Very good food and service.
Food was the best especially the lobster rolls - huge! See you next year as were from PA but vacation in Cape Cod.
Fantastic food and service!!
Great food!!
Great food and great service! Loved this place!!!
Perfect location in downtown Chatham. Atmosphere was bland with faint music playing. Friendly but slow service. Food was so so, my wife and I both ordered the lobster roll but were not completely impressed. Wide selection of food on the menu for the whole family.
Great food! Great location in Chatham.
15 minute wait, clam chowder and Paninis were great
Good service, really nice staff, tasty food.
Yikes
Love this place! The crab cakes are delicious and full of crab meat. Cape cod blonde beer and the hot lobster roll are the best.
Great food wish we hit the dinner menu. Looked great.
Super friendly server and cute place to eat! Everyone loved the lobster roll and cod
Great food reasonably priced clean bathrooms and the only restaurant on the road that allows strollers inside
Very good food and service.
Overpriced food and we had to wait quite long. Better options in the area!
The best clam chowder I ve ever had in my life. The lobster and scallops were incredible too. Great service, friendly staff, and a terrific place to have dinner whilst watching the sun set on the water.
Good place for a quick, light lunch, and good chowda
My fish sandwich was the best sandwich Ive ever had. Food is delicious here. You must stop and eat here.
Best fish sandwich I have ever eaten. Light and flaky and delicious. Ate outside and enjoyed the weather. Beats any other restaurant on Main St.
