15 Chatham Bars Ave, Chatham, MA 02633, United States
Upscale eatery in a former church features innovative takes on seafood fare & a bustling bar scene.
My favorite place for lunch in Chatham! We always sit at the bar (expect a wait to get a seat as it's first come/first serve) and love the atmosphere, bartender (Erica is amazing!), cocktails and food. Everything is really yummy but the Nantucket Scallop roll is a must try. Whether for lunch or dinner be sure to make a reservation. You're welcome. 😃
We had a wonderful dinner. The food was delicious and a very fun atmosphere. Only complaint is that we were rushed through our dinner. Food came very quickly after our appetizers. And after our meals and not wanting dessert, the bill arrived very promptly. Soon after placing the bill at at our table, our waitress grabbed it and asked if it was all set, even though it was obvious we hadn’t placed a credit card down. Her subtle way of telling us to pay. We had been sitting for less than an hour. Too expensive to be rushed.
Finally, after striking out twice in Chatham, we found a real winner. Terrific service, incredible selections, delicious food. Thank you, Inprudent Oyster!
such a fun place to eat! really enjoyed the atmosphere, food & service. put our name in for lunch & waited about 15 minutes - it is a small waiting area & it does get crowded, i’d recommend putting your name in & pop into some shops around the corner to pass the time! the lobster roll was one of the best we’ve had & the onion rings are thin cut, crispy & delicious. cocktail menu is fun and fresh as well - we would absolutely be back!
Amazing food specials and good wine options. We ate at the bar because it can get quite busy during summer so make reservations early. Wonderful meal highly recommended
We actually went on Easter Sunday. Worried it might not be open, we made it with thirty minutes to spare. Upon a suggestion by family, we wanted a place who could make some real clam chowder. We were not disappointed. The location was awesome and the place had a cool atmosphere. No issues parking and the waitress was very nice and accommodating. The food came out great and we enjoyed sitting by the window people watching. I fully recommend going. My girlfriend devoured the chowder. I went with the burger and salad.
Food was good but could be even better if they listened to their customers’ requests. I asked for my salad to be lightly dressed. Didn’t happen. I asked for one thing to be removed from my salad as I am allergic to certain fruits / berries so I wanted to be on the safe side to remove the dried cranberries that came with my salad. However that didn’t happen either. I understand if it’s a Saturday evening and you’re super busy so you couldn’t accommodate any special requests, but it’s late Thursday lunchtime and they were not as crazy busy as some nights I think they can try to honor customer requests. Simply ignore your customers is not good for restaurant business. why bother to make them happy well you’re in the restaurant business so you should try to make people happy and accommodate their requests if you can. So, I’m taking two stars off.
We arrived JUST as they were opening for the day and that was right on time. They fill up QUICK so early arrival is important. I was hesitant to try their calamari but IT. IS. AMAZING! Their pesto aoili perfects the dish, oh my yum. I could have made that my meal. My fish sandwich was delicious, but it had too much bread. It was otherwise perfect. My husband also thoroughly enjoyed his seafood platter. He was hesitant to try the oysters after a previous bad experience elsewhere but he was very happy. We HIGHLY recommend this restaurant.
I ordered a classic Impudent dish... sole francais. It ended up being veal! The problem was the waitress and kitchen denial, I told the waitress it was veal, not sole and she doubted me, took it to the kitchen and brought it back confirming it was sole. Total gaslight, but 4 others at the table confirmed it was veal. On the awkward second attempt, they took it back again and confirmed it was veal and got me some fsole. Impudent oyster, shady sole.
Great food, scallops were fabulous, potatoes salad fresh, very good, homemade. Keylime pie good w/ ginger snap crust
Wow this place was great! Super bartender and food was excellent. The place closes early and you need to get there as soon as they open because it s super popular.
The annual Pumpkins in the Park is something you should take in. After viewing the creations of some very talented people you can enjoy a nice walk around town and maybe even have lunch at the Impudent Oyster!
Another Fabulous meal at Impudent Oyster! We had our all time favorite waitress Annette she is the best we have ever met! She is beyond helpful, so kind and funny too. We love her and hope to get her every time we go! The food is incredible especially the sirloin and the swordfish Piccata. Also you make the absolute best Cosmos in Chatham! If I could give you 10 Stars I would!
Coups Clambake ,outstanding!
In the hospitality industry and a touristic location it would be advantageous for the hostess to enhance her interpersonal skills and maintain a courteous demeanor. Other one star reviews mentioned that very rude hostess as well.
Great cocktails and bites.
We have been dining there for over 30 years and the place has gone downhill and finally hit bottom for us. I had the boulabaisse (sp?) and it was awful. The clams at the top were tough and the decorative mussels were well over 3 inches long (not delicate). The rather large oysters were not opened and could not be opened with either fork or butter knife (the only provided utensils - I am good at opening oysters). The fish and scallops were WAY overcooked to the point that I didnt try to eat much. Delicate was realized with the lobster claw - very small. To top it off was a large slice of bread with some type of mustard based fluid lined on it. Combine that with close tables and lots of noise and you have a very bad evening.
Food is very good but also a little bit expensive, however, the portions are also very large. The interior is a little smaller than anticipated but that is given the building size. There are two sections split by a staircase. The upper area has tables and booths. The bottom section has tables and the bar. The staff is friendly and polite too. Parking: Parking lot on the property as well as several lots and parallel parking in the surrounding area. It can be harder to find parking on the weekend.
Came for oysters & happy we did. Excellent and super fresh from Wellfleet. Yum!
Nice place to visit if from out of town
Amazing seafood-focused restaurant in Chatham. Great, varied menu that appeals to fish lovers and those that prefer other things. Food was super fresh and great service too. Restaurant was super kind and accommodating to us when we were running late to our reservation, which was much appreciated.
Food was amazing...
Everything was perfect good food, good service, and a pleasing atmosphere,
We ate here on our last night in Cape Cod. I started with an Impudent Lemon Drop, which was so good that I had another one! The bread they put on the table was warm and delicious. Our server was great (I cant remember her name). For starters, I had the clams casino and they were yummy! Husband has the speidini which he said was excellent. He order the pasta special, which was lobster ravioli with lobster, shrimp and scallops on top and said it was terrific. I order the sole and crab francese which was perfectly cooked. For dessert, we shared a butterscotch blondie with ice cream, sooooo good! Very happy with our dinner at the Impudent Oyster.
Delicious, innovative seafood restaurant. The Impudent Oyster offers an impressive selection of elevated and innovative takes on sea food and fish classic dishes. Flavourful, well prepared and presented, generous, tasty and balanced in flavours, we had a lovely time. Scallops - devils on horseback -, oysters, mussels in a portuguese style sauce, steak, lobster we could not try everything, but wanted to taste more. Well done. Special note for the attentive and friendly service, a short yet well curated wine list, with a few gems and a sweet and salty touch to finish. Bravo!
Great food and service. Highly recommended! Must try lobster roll
best seafood restaurant on the Cape.
The food was delicious! A nice modern take on seafood dishes. Service was wonderful and the atmosphere was great.
Amazing food, friendly staff, great atmosphere. Will be back again for sure!
Amazing food and drink, highly recommend visiting this place for any dinner.
Cute former church transformed into a very unique restaurant. Good food, drinks and friendly service. Enjoyed a nice lunch and then took a stroll down Main Street for dessert!
Have loved this restaurant for years. Yesterday we had the best lobster rolls. The fries were great as well, and the staff are so friendly! Never disappointed.
Truly everything delicious
SUPERB restaurant with gracious and professional service, outstanding food and real value. Reservation was honored on time and the food was among the best on the Cape. The Bouillabaisse was so delicious and so generous, I had to take a picture. Among the best meals this year. October 2023 follow up. This is our third visit in 3 years, and the place is still outstanding, but I wish I could give it 4.5 stars. Three things made the visit slightly less than ideal than in the past. The waitress served our drinks by holding the glasses from the top, with each of her fingers around the rim (not too hygienic). The ceviche appetizer, despite being told it was not that spicy, was almost uneatable, because of its spiciness. The bathrooms are in need of help (broken paper towel holder, no soap in dispenser and looking like a bathroom in a public building). The rest of the experience is top notch, but those items did not meet expectations. June 2024 - This restaurant continues to be the BEST one on the Cape. The food is generous and the quality and taste are just superb. Id call their Bouillabaisse an ode to seafood! Service is willing and professional.
Tiny little place that is amazing! Open all year long and always has a crowd.
We come here every year during our CC vacation. It is always delicious! Excellent food, very generous servings and always friendly waitstaff.
Wonderful atmosphere and service. Delicious oysters to start. Amazing Thai seafood stew. Everyone loved the fries, burger and sandwiches were perfectly done. Highly recommend.
My go to spot for a nice Sunday dinner.
Cant say enough about this place, staff, food, drinks, wine, basically everything is great. If youre in Chatham go.
Just go eat there. You won t regret it. Best meal we ve had in a while.
Loved everything we got raw oysters, lobster rolls, clam chowder, Brussels, truffle fries. Atmosphere was great, they were open on a Monday, and Morgan was very attentive thank you!
Simply the best fish & chips at Cape Cod! I love the food
Went for Easter. Our server was not the friendliest. Don t recommend getting the calamari, it was $17 and you barely got any calamari. It was mostly peppers, lettuce and tomatoes. Definitely wasn t the best calamari I ve had before. Definitely won t ever go back.
Pretty solid food. The Po Boy was nice and the truffle fries were fantastic!
Great food and drink in an old school Cape Cod vibe. Its not just the Cape classics like fried clams, etc, but there are many delicious sounding contemporary dishes on the menu. We stopped in for lunch and got Ray Rays Rice Bowl and a couple things from the specials menu (curried cauliflower bisque and a tuna on ciabatta). The salmon was perfectly cooked with a nice Korean-inspired glaze and was balanced nicely by the pickles, slaw and wakame. The sandwich was very generous, delicious and accompanied by crisp and tasty red onion, tomato and arugula. The side we picked was the potato salad which was also delicious. The drinks are delicious and there is a good selection of beer with three on tap. Service is excellent.
If the Ms. Lees Oysters and the Swordfish Picatta I had in early April are on the menu come June Ill be eating here for a week straight.
My sister was celebrating a big birthday at a resort nearby and chose the Oyster for dinner. I called ahead and asked how we could make it special. The staff went beyond to make her birthday great!! I want to thank that extraordinary crew!!
Very cramped bar. Steak was tuff, not good quality or presentation. Being in the service industry myself, was not impressed with this restaurant.
Nice place! Burger was pretty good. The stuff is welcoming. Parking can be hard to find
Excellent fare and great friendly family service with a cozy atmosphere. They elevate the staples with local style and without being ostentatious. We went all apps: oysters konichiwa, rockelfellers, half-shells, clams casino and chowder. All cooked perfectly, shellfish served classically on beds of piping hot plate of rock salt.
Broad menu, great portions. Bar and dining room are cute. Parking: The lot is free but is a public lot and small, so you likely should find street parking and walk down. Food : 5/5 |
Great food & Great atmosphere! Excellent staff !!!
My first trip to the New England area found me a mission to find the best clam chowder. Without any doubts, Impudent Oyster was my favorite. To make sure that it wasn t just luck or hunger, we came back for a second time. Though a little on the pricey side, the food made it worth my money. I am learning that crowded spaces are the norm in the northeast states. That said, if you don t mind sharing your space with others dining at the same time, it is a great place to have great food! Parking: Thankfully, our hotel was close enough to walk. On the day of inclement weather, our hotel offered transportation. Wheelchair accessibility: Not really available
An incredible dining experience. Had the clam chowder and the pasta carbonara. The chowder had generous amounts of clam and the potatoes were creamy. The pasta had a generous amount of seafood and a lot of pancetta, with a peppery cream sauce. The food was all excellent, and the atmosphere is nice with good furnishings and stained glass from an old church. Would heavily recommend if youre in town.
Impudent Oyster was recommended by a local and it turns out to have been a fantastic recommendation. The butternut soup was A+, best I ve ever had. Served piping hot and full of flavor. Followed that up with the fish sandwich and home made chips. Died and gone to heaven! Great local sole, toasted buttered role. And I noticed that my mom snagged about half my chips!
I dine here often and each time I walk away so impressed not only with the delicious meal but with the attentive friendly staff and the cozy ambiance in the dining room or the bar! The set menu is delicious and you can t go wrong with any item. However the daily specials are hard to resist because they are always creative and appetizing. The seafood is fresh and never over done - it s hard to not start your meal with some clams casino, oysters Rockefeller and or the scallops wrapped in bacon! Oh and the mussels are perfectly done with a sauce you need lots of good bread with or some of their fries to dip!! Never had a bad meal so hard to recommend just one! The service is just plain excellent and friendly! They have a tight staff which have all been working together it seems for a long time because they work like a solid team and they work hard! The place is nonstop busy specially this past holiday weekend!! I honestly dont know how they all stay so positive! We are lucky the Impudent Oyster stays open year round! It s a true treat and experience every time!
Open all year! Food is great.
We enjoyed an evening of calamari and mussels for apps. Seafood special, scallops, short ribs and the sole. Everyone enjoyed their meal, the service was amazing! Solid choice in downtown Chatham.
Consistently good. Creative dishes.
Have been to this restaurant many times, but this time was not a fantastic experience. My husband and I had the unfortunate experience of being seated near the hostess, and heard her speak extremely unprofessional and very negative about the patrons. We understand that it is busy, and its stressful to have to say over and over again that there are no reservations available, but then to speak negative when there are other people around trying to enjoy dinner is very unpleasant and uncomfortable. The food was good, and the service was ok, but that made us questions if well go again in the future. Also, when we went to leave we could barely get out people were completely blocking the door, and that was definitely a hazard. Every experience prior to this was positive, but this experience really ruined the past experience for us.
We haven t even gotten our entrees yet and I just had to make sure I left a good review! Linda made our night, so knowledgeable and sweet. A must visit while in Chatham
Disappointing. Caesar salad dressing had no flavor. Hamburger was also nothing really. Oysters tasted good but were not well shucked having pieces of shell in each. The truffle fries and kale salad were good. The staff is lovely.
I would say best seafood restaurant in the town. Moules Na Cataplana is the tastiest mussel dish I have ever tried, must try that. Another one is the cod fillet with Ramen noodle, a unique and delicious dish. Great service and beautiful table arrangements. Overall, everything was above and beyond! Hope to visit again!
Never had a bad meal here and its been over 20 years they do a great job of changing up the menu and always get the devils on horseback app
OVERRATED! This place is one big deep fry place which if you like that have at it but very few healthy options and even the fried food is 3.5 stars. Better options in town and near by just outside of town. Have to add to this review and share my experience with Tara and her utter lack of customer care. I left my credit card at lunch the previous day and knocked on the door at 11:00 AM and then called and Tara said we open at 11:30. My reply was I m right outside and just need my card and she said nope bartender is setting up. Impressive that they could not just provide my card but who knows maybe it was in a time-activated safe THAT WOULD BE A NO! It is clear that the owners don t care about this customer-last approach or the mediocre, fried, greasy food they serve. I m from coastal Massachusetts and setting aside the rude service this food is well worth MISSING and going somewhere else.
Exceptional!
Food was good. i would go agin service was average but nothing to complain about it is confusing which door is the main entrance
Ordered the fish and chips here. Was surprised while eating when a whole chunk of butter was observed in my fish without being melted. Fish tasted good. My friends had the mussels and wow they were huge!
The best fish stew!!!loaded with a great variety of fresh seafood in a succulent coconut milk/curry base. Awesome.
Great food. Not the conventional type of lobster roll but I really liked it. Friends had mussels which looked very plump and juicy. Servings are very generous across all the items we ordered. Didnt have any issues getting a table without reservation for lunch on a weekend.
It was the best seafood experience this far! Fresh, delicious and one more time delicious! If you are oysters lover , and looking for best lobster roll , this the place to go !
Mussels were huge & delicious. Burrata salad was perfectly dressed & also delicious. Loved our cocktails- will def be back to try other menu items!
This is a save one night for... spot. Drinks are excellent too! Food
We had a lovely time at the Impudent Oyster over Memorial Day weekend. The restaurant called us at about 11am to make sure our party of four would still be arriving for our 8:45pm dinner reservation that evening. I can see why, as the Cape is often packed no matter the weekend, but especially holidays! As always, plan well ahead in advance! We were seated immediately for our dinner reservation. Drinks were in hand not 5 minutes after us arriving. I d recommend the blueberry lemonade cocktail. We ordered Oysters Rockefeller for the table, and happily ate our complimentary bread with them. Don t fill up on appetizers, as our entrees were of generous size. I ordered the Pesca Fra Diablo, and it took me a considerable amount of time to deconstruct all of the clams and lobster. In all, a very fulfilling holiday weekend treat! The restaurant did its best to make sure everything went smoothly even at its busiest time.
We always sit at the bar. Service is friendly and efficient. Large portions so we usually share an app and salad and entree. Fabulous clams casino, Devils on Horseback with buttery toast points( scallops wrapped in bacon). Love the lobster tail and beef tenderloin entree. Bread is outstanding! Creative entrees, spectacular fish dishes, always amazing!
Went for our anniversary. Great choice of venue.
Incredible food for each of our 4 diners! Drinks were great too. Only knock is there are a LOT of tables packed into a small space. Will be back as soon as we can get a reservation!
We love this place for lunch! One of my favorite lobster rolls! Its a generous portion and the meat it chopped up more than other places on the Cape. We also had shrimp po boy, but you cant go wrong with anything on their menu. Solid chowder, bang bang shrimp, and beer selection. We recommend sitting at the bar. Nice ambiance. Parking: There is a small lot, but expect to have to park in downtown Chatham, which can be tricky.
Cape classic restaurant at its finest. This restaurant is well known for ask the right reasons. Great drinks, fabulous service, delicious food, lunch and dinner. Pro tip, arrive early to look for parking during peak season.
You cannot go wrong with this place! Every time we go it s exceptional! Food is always great and service friendly. Make sure to make reservations in advance in the summer because the place books up fast. Highly recommend!!
Our new favorite restaurant on the Cape.
Long wait once seated. Food was pretty good though. Once you walk in, theyll take your name and call/text you when theyre ready to take you. I had T-Mobile and although reception was a bit spotty, I was able to get their call. However, once we were seated it took a long time for our waitress to get to us and for food to come out as well. I had the lobster which was pretty good.
They do not monitor their parking lot and therefore it is not likely that you can park near the restaurant. The hostess is rude and condescending and they do a poor job of seating people. The service is slow as well. We left after another rude comment from the hostess
Dollar for dollar, you wont find a better restaurant in the Chatham area, particularly if you like seafood. There are a lot of great dishes to choose from. Among my favorites is the Chatham Lobster. It comes with clams, mussels, and a baked potato. The best item on the menu is probably the devils on horseback, which is scallops wrapped in bacon with a great sauce. Its listed as an appetizer, but it can easily suffice as an entree. A number of restaurants have been jacking their prices. Not the Impudent Oyster.
They need a major renovation done in there desperately. If they were to do it then it could be a much better place to sit and eat.
Delicious food, pleasant service and atmosphere. Impudent has been around for years and is successful because they deliver a great experience.
We had the most HORRIFIC customer experience tonight with an extremely rude hostess. We had a reservation and politely asked if we could add one more guest to the party. The hostess and whoever was responsible that night responded in the most unpleasant, arrogant and rude way. I will NEVER go back to that restaurant and will advise all my friends NEVER to go to that restaurant. Rude, impolite, self-entitled staff. NEVER again. Totally overrated.
Overall the experience was good. The mussels were delicious. The entrees were good. But we were disappointed with the oysters which were one of the main reasons we came to this restaurant. The oysters were not very fresh and there were a few bad ones that we couldnt eat. We expected much better from a place with Oyster in its name.
My husband and I enjoyed Cod Batalia and Red Curry. It was delicious. Service was attentive and welcoming. Cranky infants distracted from dinner but to be expected in Chatham which is family friendly destination. Vegetarian options: Veggie curry dish was delicious. Kid-friendliness: Families welcome
Our best meal in Cape Cod! Food was delicious, wine selection was great and service was fabulous. Absolutely recommend making a reservation (a few people tried walking in but they were booked solid).
Best food in Chatham and not close. Consummate old school vibe where you can tell the locals congregate (former church) like at Squire. We always make this reservation on our last night and it always delivers. This year was even more exceptional.
First time here in probably 20 years. Better than I remember. Seafood very fresh and well prepared. Service very attentive. Prices very reasonable by Cape standards. Very glad to have rediscovered Impudent Oyster.
Amazing oysters from Orleans, different than Wellfleet which we often get a better restaurants throughout the cape. Highly recommend
Damn. This place was amazing and hit on every note. Their raw bar options were super fresh and sources locally, with the best wellfleet oysters we tried on this trip. We greatly enjoyed the gambas and ceviche. They were very flavorful and people devoured them. I had the pangang curry and honestly it was one of the best dishes Ive had. Period. They nailed the curry flavor without overpowering the more subtle seafood and all of the veggies were soft but still had crunch. But the scallops... the scallops though. Maybe Ive never had a properly cooked fresh scallop, but after a slight resistance, these little pillows melt in your mouth. Lastly, service was outstanding despite a fully packed house. Jamie was very attentive, gave great recommendations and doubled checked every dish on allergens. 10/5 Dietary restrictions: They were very knowledgeable about dietary allergens in their menu, but couldnt accommodate as a lot of sauces were premade. They still had options that were delicious though
Good food with reasonable prices. Lots of options. Some of the staff members were a bit rude.
You can t get separate checks? Use the computer! The waitress was efficient but didn t smile one time! Onion rings were fantastic.
Love Zack & Erica at the bar!! Fast, friendly service! Food is delicious and different. Great old time Cape Cod bar. Highly recommended! Food : 5/5
If you re in Chatham do NOT MISS this quaint restaurant!! Impeccable service by Kate and some of the best food we ve had during our time in Cape Cod. We will be back!
Awesome place. Ordered the lobster and was as good as you would expect from such a wonderful place.
Were just in Chatham for two nights. The Impudent Oyster was recommended by more than one person. This was the best dinner we had our entire trip to New England! Dont miss out. The ambiance, the vibe, the service & the food. Everything we ordered was phenomenal. Apps: Devils on Horseback, Gambas Al Ajillo, raw oysters Dinner: Tuna Savannah, Pesca Fra Diablo Dessert: Some sort of blueberry crumble with ice cream. Seriously the best thing ever. EVER.
Been going here for 30 years. Always love it.
The food was excellent, great seafood, good sized portions. Scallops were awesome. The place tries to be upmarket casual, however does not warrant the prices as the service is not 5 star, nothing to do with the staff, they were great - its how they are trained and the policy defining the level of * service.
Pretty god damn good food with no complaints in a good atmosphere with quality service. Try it!
Unsure how you could give anything less than 5 stars across the board to the Impudent Oyster. Best meal I ve had in years would have cost way more at other spots in Chatham. Linda was a phenomenal waitress and great for a good laugh. Will be back 100%, could not recommend enough!
We had a great time at the Impudent Oyster. The food was terrific, the service was terrific, and the ambiance was terrific.
Celebrated a birthday and Linda made the whole evening very special. She was very attentive and helped us with making sure our meal was gluten free. The food was spectacular - oysters were fresh, the sea bass perfectly cooked, and the steak/lobster tail was delicious. Thank you for making this a perfect birthday dinner.
Its been a couple of years since our last visit. The menu changed as it should, and our food was delicious. Our server was hard working and attentive. We highly recommend The Impudent Oyster.
We had a fantastic meal and drinks. Great service and good! It is a must stop for us when on the Cape!
The best seafood experience, best oysters in the Cape!
Usually we have a good experience as far as food, one thing never changes - small place, huge crowds, too loud. Ok, food. This time the meat was ok, although lobster was a bit chewy, rubbery. Unfortunate. The risotto was left untouched because it was so dry instead of creamy. Im very disappointed. Also, please serve drinks in appropriate glasses, if I order a specialty drink like a spicy margarita, I want it in a fancy glass with the rim done and all the fixings, I want to enjoy this experience and do not want to have my drink in the water glass....
We are dining here in October which is the off season for Cape visitors. My wife and I truly enjoyed the dinning experience. I closed my eyes and felt like I was in Paris France eating the steak au pouve. Delicious!!! My wife ordered swordfish piccatta. She said it was the best swordfish she said she ever tasted. We eat a fair amount of fish on the Cape over the years. The only downside is limited seating, parking and dining space. Come early before 6pm or dine late. The food is five stars.
Food is outstanding! The place is small but cozy, and the drinks are DELISH!
Amazing service. Terrific food. Creative menu choices!
Cozy environment. Great staff. Delicious food - the gingerbread cheesecake was remarkable. Perfect date night destination.
Good food and wine and open during the winter.
First impression wasn t a good one. The hostess was pretty unwelcoming, so much do, I thought about leaving. She also seated us between two other tables which were fairly close, when there were other tables available that would have been a little more intimate. Fortunately our waitress was the saving Grace. Friendly, down to earth. I didn t get her name but she was lovely. We ordered The Sole and Ray s Ravioli which were delicious. Crème brûlée was runny but tasted good. For the money, it wouldn t kill them to hire a friendly hostess.
Food and service was perfect!!! Would definitely eat there again when back here
Excellent food, nice portions and attentive staff. Surprisingly inexpensive for the quality.
Visited for dinner on a trip from Japan in 2017. The store was clean and had a cute interior, and the employees were very friendly and provided good service. All the dishes were delicious, especially the bouillabaisse. I would like to visit again.
Got here just before they closed for lunch on a Friday. Not many people there in the off season but glad they were open. The butternut squash soup was so good I think I inhaled it. I got the special rice noodle salad as my entree and it was good but huge. I also had to try the truffle fries because they sounded so good. They were piping hot and delicious. I also have to throw it out there that they had my favorite brand of fever tree ginger beer to drink as well.
Great local restaurant
We loved the mussels on special. Lemony with bits of onion in broth.
What an enjoyable dinner just perfect!!
No! Diner food. Hot as a hot house. Reviews are off unless they are from people who do not know good food and a nice atmosphere. Diner at best Don t go
Excellent food and impeccable service
Food is awesome. You wont regret this stop.
Great place, great service, great food. The Salmon was outstanding.
Excellent casual lunch in the off season!
Great meal and quite reasonable compared to other places in the area. Seemed like a place where the locals would hangout. Oysters on the half shell, lobster roll, and mussels were fab! Lobster roll was under $30 unlike most other places on the Cape. Only downside was that they didnt have outdoor seating. However, it was late April. So maybe not set up yet.
Love love their food...my favorite is going for a late lunch before 3 and enjoying their mussels with chorizo sausage and garlic herb rolls. Delicious!! And also tried a lemon martini with cucumber vodka infused with Basil. Very good summer drink. My hubby loved the clam chowder!!!
One of our goto Chatham restaurants. Every fish special we have ever had is amazing.. Simple elegant menu and ingredients well done not over done
Delicious food and lovely waitress by the name of Leslie!
Several different recommended that I eat at this restaurant while visiting the Cape. It lived up to the hype. I had a very enjoyable experience. We started with a couple appetizers - devils on horseback (bacon wrapped scallops) and the oyster special. For dinner, I had the cod scarlet. The cod was a wonderful blend of flavors - curry, sweet and smokey. Delicious! Be aware that the menu is large so you may want to decide on your preferred protein to narrow down your choices.
Went to the Impudent Oyster on Friday. This place did not let down. The food was amazing, I had a steak (not really a seafood guy) would return here- the staff was very friendly and the food was great.
Always great food and our staple restaurant when staying on the Cape. The Seafood Atlantis presentation was great. Could of used some more seasoning but overall a great meal and highly recommended. I d put this on my menu any day!
Delicious lunch today. Excellent service, friendly people. I had the salmon Niçoise salad, just wonderful!
Overpriced but pretty good food.
Left requested time for reservation, name and phone # for confirmation on their answering machine. They didnt call so we called to confirm the reservation The very rude and curt hostess said, Just because you called doesnt mean you have a reservation and you dont have one. Then, she hung up! Doesnt bode well for a dining experience there!!
Nice place. Great food.
Best food Ive ever had in my LIFE. The staff could have been friendlier but honestly they could have stepped on me for all I care, the food was that delicious.
The Oyster is a great place for lunch, but it can be too crowded (and too expensive) for dinner. Love their baked cod. And their winelist includes Dr. Franks Reisling - hardly ever see this by the glass in restaurants, and it goes very nicely with baked fish.
The food was ok, very expensive for what you got,
Tables for two are unworkably small and crammed in. Despite a reservation made two weeks in advance, we were offered a table next to the main passageway so close to the other tables that the waiter s butt was literally in our faces. We decided to eat elsewhere.
Honestly the food might be good but we didn t get a chance to try it because of the hostess. We stopped by at 2:30 and she asked us to wait outside while they prepared a table. In the meantime a table of three walked in ahead of us and were seated immediately. We waited ten minutes and asked the hostess if our table was ready and she said never mind they re closed. Very frustrating considering the table that got seated didn t have a reservation and had the same party size.
Wow. Creative meals that have been perfectly cooked. The only problem with the Impudent Oyster is that you can t eat everything in one visit!
Overall impressions Average food comes in large quantities Dishes ordered (Lunch) Oysters: Good local oysters Lobster roll 3/5: Average lobster roll, good sweet potato fries Fish and chips 2.5/5: Small chunks of fried fish that flaked too easily with chunky batter that was not crispy enough. Ratio of fish to chips was off (too little fish, too much chips), truffle chips were average Power bowl with lobster salad 3/5: Very large bowl with high arugula ratio. Beets and pumpkin seeds were good, lobster salad add on was decent but not worth the additional $18. Dressing was middling. Cod 4/5: Good cod with delicious rice Atmosphere 4/5 Spacious interior but very cold Service 3.5 /5 Average - good service Rating scale 1: truly awful, 2: below average, 3: average, 4: above average 5: truly excellent
Their fish entrees are excellent to say the least. Need to make reservations. Parking: Limited parking
We love the food and service here. Were never disappointed. Vegetarian options: Veggie roll
The Impudent Oyster is probably my favorite restaurant in Cape Cod. Everything on the menu is delicious, and the clam chowder, Devil s Bridge (bacon wrapped scallops), and seafood carbonara are all incredible. It s the type of meal you ll be talking about for a long time. Can t wait for the next time I return!
Good Food! Parking: Is what it is
A great place to grab lunch while shopping in Chatham. The truffle fries are amazing
Amazing seafood
Probably the best restaurant in Chatham.... I think the food has actually improved over the years and everything else has risen with the tide
Friendly staff ready to provide information. Food was good.
The winner of the best lobster roll on both value and quality! $29 for what looks like a pound of lobster dwarfing the roll. The mussels were perfectly cooked and get tasty. Again, a very generous portion!
Parking: Tough to park in Chatham in August
The hostess was so short and miserable to us at the door. Never even attempted to smile. Absolutely unfriendly to the idea of welcoming our children . I was so turned off by her attitude that I turned on my heals and left.
It had been nearly 20 years since we had visited. Was very pleasantly surprised the food and service remained exceptional - delightful meal. Full bar. Interesting cocktails, as well as the classics. Interesting wine menu. Several beers. Dessert was to die for. When back in the area, we will return.
Great food, great service. Good place for a nice meal. Can get a little loud when crowded.
I have always wanted to dine at this charming place. The service was good. Their bread was nice and warm. I just wish the food was better. Swordfish was plain. Impudent oyster was ok but the slaw underneath was too sweet for me. My friend felt sorry for the scallops, for being smothered in a heavy sauce after being wrapped up in bacon... It was intense. I initially thought their white sauce (Rockefeller oyster, carbonara, and clam chowder) was ok but after a few bites I kinda got sick. Mussels were garlicky but sandy. Nice atmosphere for a drink, maybe... Kid-friendliness: The room was loud enough so that my kids loud singing did not seem to bother anyone.
Good food but not the best hospitality. We had a large group (10) including 4 kids and they wouldn t sit us together. Our waitress was great and the food was fantastic but wouldn t go back.
Great food, cheaper lobster roll, great potato salad.... Love the decor. I would recommend to anyone.
Always friendly service, and it s by far the best seafood on Cape. Whether you re eating at the bar, or are lucky to get a reservation, the experience is always phenomenal and the portions are the biggest that I ve seen on Cape. Excellent presentation and they are very accommodating.
Deafening Took an hour for our food to be delivered and the steamers were still unopened and the steamed broccoli ice cold Spoke to the manager who clearly did not give a (delete) When we got the bill they tacked on an extra drink we had not ordered Horrible experience all around
It started with the intriguing name. (My husband said, I think we have to go there just because of the name.) Impressed with everything. I got the power bowl. Finally a place that actually understands what that is. Every bit of it was great...from the size to the components, to the flavor of it all. The service was very good as well. Well done!
We dined for a late lunch. We had the clam chowder which was warm not hot but the calamari was very delicious. The sauce was full of spicy flavor. Although not on the menu we had local draft beer which was tasty. Our waitress was friendly and wonderful.
Great food, great prices, friendly staff. Will absolutely be returning. We ordered a cup of clam chowder & the calamari for an appetizer. That chipotle aioli is to die for! We then ordered the fish n chips & the veggie quesadilla. Both were absolutely delicious. 3 bar drinks as well, totaled everything to $99 for lunch for 2! I have many clients in the area so I m happy I found a local spot to get some lunch.
Seafood Atlantis was the best thing I have eaten all year. Lots of seafood, very reasonable. Cool old restaurant right in downtown. Great service. Blueberry pie was good as well
Incredible dining experience. My husband and I both agreed they were some of the best meals we ve ever had. The scallops and bacon are a MUST!!
Probably the best place to get diner in Chatham! The ambiant is great! Its super busy, we got our name on the waitlist and get a drink at the bar. Cocktails are great and very original. The food is so good, we get 2 seats at the bar. We got the typical American dining experience that we hope! Ill definitely come back!
Locals know the IO as one of the destination restaurants in Chatham. Its cozy size + popularity make it tough to just drop in on a whim, so reservations are always a good idea. Even the bar fills up quickly, usually within minutes of opening their doors for happy hour. The Impudent is also one of the rare Chatham restaurants that remains excellent in the off-season as well (the towns dirty little secret being that many restaurants phone it in during the winter with substitute chefs and/or skeleton crews, impacting food quality). But the IO keeps it real all year long. Can be a tad noisy at times but not enough to detract from an otherwise excellent experience.
Absolutely outstanding food and service. Incredible Chatham eatery!
Great food and excellent service. The place is a little small and can get noisy but the food is definitely worthwhile.
Amazing is not enough to say, the food is outstanding, the atmosphere is buzzing and the servers are so friendly despite being extremely busy. This was our first visit but we will certainly return.
Great food and fun atmosphere
Great place. Great food.
Meal was exelent and the costumer service was amazing. We will be back I am recomende 100%.
Amazing food. The oysters were among the best in the area. In fact, along with two other restaurants, the Naked Oyster in Hyannis, and the Snowy Owl in Brewster, this is on my top-three of the Cape. Great atmosphere and wait staff.
We are in Chatham for a long weekend and made a reservation at the Impuident Oyster for Sunday night. The meal I had was unbelievable as was my wife s. We decided to check to see if they had any openings for the next night which we were lucky enough to get. Same results! Definitely in my top five restaurants. Sat at the bar both meals and met some great people and the service along with entire staff were fantastic. Will return next year if not sooner!
Very nice stop for lunch. Fish was fresh and creatively prepared. Service was friendly and timely.
Five plates and five disappointments. The clams in the casino appetizer were tiny, so while that may be good for a pasta vongole dish it did not work for an appetizer where clams are the primary ingredient. For the garlic shrimp - I ve had better shrimp from the supermarket. The lobster in the surf and turf entree was tiny and the sauce on the beef bland. The steak itself was good though. The pumpkin ravioli had no taste and neither did the accompanying shellfish. The sole francaise again had no flavor. Complete disappointment. I will NOT go back.
This was a perfect pick for our arrival night on vacation. Thank goodness we thought ahead and made reservations a week prior as the place is tiny with maybe a dozen tables. Food is amazing and even through post-covid staffing issues the team were attentive and very nice.
Excellent food and service. Fair prices (actually quite reasonable for Chatham). Get the cod.
Dining here in November is a must so you can experience the bay scallops broiled in cream sauce. Decadent! We had a date night right before Thanksgiving and also enjoyed the cod Lisbon, raw oysters and shrimp cocktail. Go to Chatham early so you can shop main street before your reservation.
Good short ribs tonight. Crowds have left the Cape
Yummy! Wonderful food!! Absolutley delish and worth the road trip from Connecticut. .
