I cant say enough about this amazing family run restaurant in Chemainus close to the Famous Chemainus Theatre on Vancouver Island. There were 12 of us for lunch on July 28th !! The service was prompt !! The menu was great as you could choose to eat breakfast, lunch or dinner !! There was a good variety of menu items to choose from !! Everyone expressed they enjoyed their meal , some had large breakfast, fish and chips - excellent, quiche and salad and I enjoyed the Monte Cristo sandwich with a Thai soup We all enjoyed the lunch so much that 7 of us decided to return for dinner @ 6.00pm 4 of us had the small wonton soup and it was big enough and full of vegetables pork and alot of wontons - delicious Highly recommend this restaurant Will be back again

This was the absolute worst breakfast I have ever had to pay for. The eggs were over cooked and the plate looked toerrible with only a tiny amount of dried up potatoes. The waitress talked about herself constantly and it was not wanted or interesting. When she saw our food was over done she asked if we wanted it re done we declined tried to eat it anyways but both of us ate less than half. It was 47 dollars!!! For two poorly cooked eggs Benny and two coffees. Worst breakfast ever do not go here for breakfast

Dont need to cook, but quality is not deserve to charge this price. Paid for grill halibut and came out waterly steam style. Tasteless dinner. College style but friendly family business. We wanted to support the local business, so we have breakfast and dinner there. Is a convenient place because we live near by the community.

This place is a gem. All in-house made food. Welcoming and friendly service. Large portions. Special entree every day. Homemade jams for sale. The har won ton soup (go for the large!) has fresh crunchy vegetables including broccoli, cauliflower, snow peas, chopped bok choy and carrots, plus bbq pork slices and generous pieces of shrimp. The chicken base for the soup is delicious and flavorful, the kind that simmers on the back of the stove for hours, like your mother would make for you if she was a good cook. Potato filled perogies and sausage were also well made and delicious. We also enjoyed the pot stickers it got busy after the theater show let out on Sunday. They serve breakfast all day when not too busy. And a tempting selection of house made pies! Bonnie Martin covers all the bases with something for everyone. It s unpretentious, family run and a pleasure to patronize. I m going back tomorrow!

Friend told me I had to try Bonnie Martin Restaurant so drove down from Nanaimo and definitely will make it regular stop. Food was awesome fresh hot tasted amazing and portions were generous and very reasonable prices and menu had so many options I didnt know where to start look forward to my next visit! Definitely recommend then again maybe not or we may not get a table. It was very busy.

First time having lunch here today, I was very impressed with the variety on their menu. I wasnt overly hungry and I ordered something from their lighter fares, the price and portion were bang on! Our server was kind and friendly too. Seating is limited so I would recommend making a reservation if you have more than a party of four. I will definitely be back to try other items on the menu.

We enjoyed a lovely dinner here and were impressed with every aspect of our experience. The food was homemade and delicious( roast beef dinner and fish & chips), the service excellent in spite of the server being very busy, and the ambience warm and friendly. The highlight was our chat with the restaurant owner as we settled our bill - a wonderful example of someone passionate about what they do after a long career doing it! My grandson and I were almost too full for dessert but were really glad we gave into temptation for the apple crumble pie that was so delicious!

Waitress was very friendly. The food was terrific. Raymond is very funny. Came to the tabke at the end of the meal to ensure we were all satisfied. Im sorry I waied so long to go there. Great family restaurant. Kid-friendliness: Very friendly restaurant, all aaare welcome. Wheelchair accessibility: The table I was sitting at could accomafate a wheelchair.

Family-friendly, diner style atmosphere. We ordered the cod & chips, and the Hamburger combo. Homemade menu, and for those who have a peanut allergy, you can eat all the pie flavours except the banana cream pie. Super friendly staff and they were quick to bring out the food! Great menu selection as well.

Mmmmmmmm Fish and chips Food

What amazing food had the Cod and chips this was some of the best I have ever had, followed up by an amazing coconut cream pie which was again the best I have ever eaten. I wish we had a place like this in Calgary.

Really good food, good sized portions. Had a Bonnie Martin Combo (burger & curried chicken) Only complaint is that 1 or 2 fewer tables would make it more comfortable for everyone, including the staff. Was really busy when we were in on a Saturday night, but it didnt slow down the kitchen. Lots of takeout orders left while we were there.

Great place for lunch before theater

A great family run local restaurant in Chemainus. While visiting my brother, my family came here for dinner one night. It was really busy, so there was a big of a wait for a table, but it was definitely worth the wait. They have an extensive menu with lots of different types of options, as well as daily specials. I had the halibut burger. I loved the dill mayo, and the halibut was perfectly breaded and fried. I had it with a side of onion rings. For dessert I had the peach pie. It was to die for. The crust gave me memories of my grandma. The service was very friendly. You could tell this place was a staple of the community with people coming in for take out orders or paying their bills and the staff knew all about them and their families. I look forward to eating here again when I visit.

We went there on the advice of locals and were not disappointed. Simple, no fuss restaurant with a great variety of food. Generous portions, great taste and friendly service. Their homemade desserts are to die for. Dont forget to ask about the name, you will love the answer.

Just a fabulous family restaurant. Chinese food night is awesome!

Food was out standing. My liver dinner was wonderful.

Some serious nostalgia to a little diner my dad and I used to go to when I was a kid. Its warm and bright, the service was swift and cheerful. The food was simple but delicious and delightfully inexpensive. Parking with a large vehicle is a little difficult if you arent super mobile however if you take the alley beside the restaurant there is some parking available behind instead of hunting for space on the streets nearby.

God fish and chips and liver and onions.

Totally 5 + + stars both the service and the food. We also purchased their home made jam. We are new to Chemainus and look forward to trying more dishes.

Hands down the ABSOLUTE BEST war wonton soup in the Cowichan Valley! Ultra fresh ingredients, made to order and the small serving is perfect to share (although you dont have to!) The smokies and perogies dish was not worth the money however but their Monte Cristo sandwich is delicious... just make sure you get the side of fries with it or it could feel a little too pricey. Fast takeout service and never more than 2 minutes of wait time when you arrive to pick up your order.

Just left waited over 45 minutes after ordering our food. Everyone who came in behind us got their meals but us. Will not ever return. Asked if we had been forgotten the answer was itll be up shortly. Asked why one person who came in after us was finished eating already the reply was shes a regular. Umm we used to be but not anymore. Disgusting.

Clearly this place is a favourite for regulars but seriously if your an out of towner . Keep looking for another spot to lunch. The waitress brought out the turkey clubhouse. I ordered the seafood clubhouse. She went to take it back then came back and said it was what I ordered. Um. No. I said fine, I ll eat it. Whatever. Only to find it was the most anemic, sorry excuse for a clubhouse I ve ever had. The entire sandwich had one tasteless piece of bacon, one slice of turkey and a tomato so unripe I ripped it out. This place is great if you like your food plain and without a scintilla of flavour. Ditto if you prefer your wait person surly and disagreeable.

Truly a gold gem in Chemainus Bonnie Ms has been there for a million years & years I know for a fact when the owners Bought it from Bonnie Martin they spent time with her a long time with her and learned all the recipes!!! have just done so well in keeping the tradition zALIVE AND VERY WELL!! They say home sweet home and when youre at Bonnie Martins its as sweet as that!!!! ** the service ** the food **the ambience **the customers **the staff wow wow!! if awesome doesnt say enough!!! you know the show Cheers? Everybody knows your name? theyre not a bar Theyre just a good down-to-earth wonderful amazing place*** pop in and have a piece of pie come on in for some good home cooked meals all the old stand bys In a word or 2 Ill just say priceless

We went about 20 minutes out of our way to try this restaurant. Came in to order take out and there were two customers in the restaurant. The waitress took my order, while I was waiting about 8 other people came in. I watched almost all of them get served and receive their food, finally the waitress approached me and asked what I ordered ???? are you kidding me !! I asked what was going on and was told that they lost my order This is a 25 seat restaurant with three staff, how many brain cells do you need to realize that you have served all the other clients except me. I received a very slim attempt at an apology What a terrible way to run a business

Wonderful food, reasonable prices =] We came for twice within our 2 day stay. We drove from Victoria to this lovely place Chemainus , and found this good restaurant ! We didnt plan it! But the food was amazing! And we didnt expect the owner could speak our lovely Cantonese !! It felt like home^^ I would definitely come again.

Great liver and onions !!

First visit, I like to try the liver the first time I try a restaurant. Its kind of my gauge, if they can do this right, theyll do rest right too. Perfectly cooked vegetables, good mash, the liver perfect and awesome gravy. Had beef barley soup for starters, really good homemade taste! Strawberry rhubarb pie for dessert. If you like homemade diner fare in a casual, clean place this is a must! Ill be back often. I never right reviews although I consult them all the time. I just had to with Bonnie Martin.

Prices can be stupid- Doesnt match amount of food with amount were paying for- As someone who eats rice ALOT. Its not real jasmine, its Uncle Bens rice.. not cool..
