I have only ever had the pho and spring rolls and it is a very respectable bowl. One of the best broths in the area with a nice deep and rich flavour. Noodles are not overcooked (as some places do) and the rare beef is good quality and they give a lot of it. Service has always been very good. Nice location. Quite a surprise to see authentic pho in a small town. Pho soup was hot and tasty. A good quantity of sliced beef and brisket was in my soup. Price was also excellent.

Very good pho! It is operated by Vietnamese, I believe. The best pho I ever tried in Vancouver. If I live nearby, I will visit this restaurant every week. Hope that I will go to Vancouver island in near future. This restaurant is definitely the place I will re-visit.
Was passing through, and decided to try a drive through Chemainus! Because why not? I had the lunch special, and a salad roll. I struggle to give two stars to this place, all because of their crunchy rice. Rice shouldn't be crunchy. It just shouldn't. There's a difference between crisp. This was get crunchy and stuck in your teeth crunchy. The salad roll was tasty, but overly expensive for what it actually was. It's a pass from me dawg. Super friendly staff though.
Excellent and we'll balance Pho and appetizers with delicious dips. For the appetizers, I order the Spring Rolls and deep fried Wonton. The spring rolls were crunchy soft and delicious and the was simple and but complements the spring rolls. For the Fried Wonton, I used the spicy sauce for the Satay with I do recommend using it instead as a dip. I had the Pho Satay which had beef brisket and slices which melted in my mouth and was delicious all around. This is my second time coming to this place and it was still good the second time around.
I find it a little hard to try and rate this restaurant. Being from the lower mainland where we have very good, very authentic Vietnamese food, I find myself a little spoiled. This place was recommended by our tour bus driver, and it was pretty full 1/2 hour after they opened so I guess the locals must like it. It was good, but nothing like the ones in Vancouver or Richmond. Service was friendly, though a little slow. Being family run, it hard for 2 people to try to do everything when it was busy. My pork was over cooked making it very tough and the shrimp didn't taste fresh. If I'm ever up that way again, I'll probably give them another try, though I'll probably order something different next time
**update- we went back for the first time since 2020, when Covid hit. Food was still delicious...it's just sad that places are having such a hard time finding staff, because clearly they needed help. Keeping the 5 stars, because no fault of their own. And hey, they survived through the pandemic and probably appreciate all their loyal customers coming back. Check it out, you won't be disappointed. Hint: Very busy through dinner hour 5-6, so if you can eat a bit earlier or later, less of a wait time. They had lots of takeout orders at this time as well. Great food! Always fresh and delicious, never disappointed. I usually order the prawn bowl, which has 6 big prawns, spring roll, stir fried veggies on top of vermicelli noodles. Simply delicious! The server is polite and on the ball! My favorite place in Chemainus!

They dont open till 11am and looks closed because its so dark. Good food and good pricing.

Once a year when I go to chemainus I eat here. Always the same staff and they have things done right. I really like this place. Parking: Park at waterwheel park a block north.

Pho broth was great. Satay Lemongrass soup was excellent. Ordered Jasmine tea and actually got real tea leaves, not a package tea. Would definitely recommend.

So impressive. Full of customers from Vietnam so that lets you know its great. Best Canadian fries you ever had. Wonton and salad roll amazing. So lucky its close to home Update As i sit with my son here again and again I realize these are the best fries, best wonton, chicken strips or Hamburger. This place with the simple atmosphere, but so calming almost magical. Like a Korean soap opera on netflix where a simple cafe holds the secret portal between the gods and immortals. This is my secret place

This place was wonderful. Its a nice, clean little space with lots of seating. Tried it tonight with my boyfriend and was really content with our meal. I decided to write a review because I noticed something here that I dont always find in pho restaurants and I appreciate it, the food was very clean. The flavour is there, the notes are authentic, but its not heavy or greasy which is a nice contrast to some of the overly glutinous restuarants or overly sauced dishes. The prices set are incredibly reasonable for the style of food, your getting good, fresh, housemade food. I will definitely be going back for lunch or dinner to try some other dishes, and recommending it to friends and family. This isnt somewhere Id go for a fancy meal, but its somewhere Id love to be a regular diner at.

I would sell my firstborn child for a bowl of their wonton soup. Eating here could be considered religious experience, eye opening. When I die I hope to be brought to a place where I can enjoy bowls apon bowls of the sweet necter of their wonton soup.
Quaint little restaurant with beyond excellent food that is made fresh and quickly. Try their salad rolls, combo c9 or the war wonton soup with noodles and youll be returning again and again. Absolutely the best Vietnamese food in the Cowichan Valley!

I have tried Pho in many different places and this is absolutely the best. The broth and the meats are spot on and the generous portions of fresh vegetables make it the perfect noodle soup. The staff is also a delight. I could not be any happier with my experience here.

Very friendly staff, delicious pho and won ton soup. This restaurant was recommended to us by a friend, and we in turn are recommending to others! The place is busy, but each dish is freshly prepared.
We tried this place because it was new for all of us. The service was great and the was made quickly and served hot. We asked for more water for our tea plus an additional pot of hot water so we could top it up ourselves and this was provided. No complaints!

Great Vietnamese restaurant in small town Chemainus. Owners are very friendly and hard working. Food is consistently good. Often order the rice plates and pho. Always satisfied and come for dinner at least once per week.
Picked up my order. Beef stir fry and chicken stir fry. Was delicious. Nice and hot. Will be back for sure.

Excellent salad rolls and hot sour sup as well. Attentive service and a clean and comfortable restaurant. Both the lemongrass pork and chicken Bun were delicious. Highly recommend. Chemainus may be small but it has great local restaurants.

Nice people, great service. Recommend if in Chemainus. Broth was flavourful, just not a fan of fatty cuts of meat. Otherwise great. Edit: I bought the brisket. So my bad. Prefer rare beef with meatballs.

I drove here from Yellow point craving pho... I got no pho even tho you sa-phosed to be open. I second guessed myself. I called and you did not answer. I heard yo pho ringing... I left with no pho but a pic! The pic made me more sad but still I only just started liking pho. Ill make my own - campsite pho - pho-nis
Food was good and reseaonably priced. My beef vermicelli was delicious, but had green pepper and celery in it, which I have not had in previous vermicelli dishes. My wife had the chicken Pho, and she loved it. It reminded her of the Pho she ate in Vietnam while traveling there.

Had a lovely meal tonight. Food was fantastic as was the Vietnamese hot coffee. Waitress was very friendly & knowledgeable. When anyone entered the restaurant they were very quick to check vaccine records on phone as well as IDs. Would highly reccomend. Will definitely visit again.

Delicious and affordable restaurant hidden in the middle of downtown Chemainus. We love getting the pho here on cold, west coast days. There are plenty of options for both vegetarians and non-vegetarians.

Some of the best Vietnamese cuisine in BC, not just the island. I have tried 90% of metro Vancouvers pho and can vouch that there is about 1% out there that can get their broth to taste beefy. Once youve tried a pho that has the taste of beef and not just aromatic water, your life will have changed. Come to Pho Triple 7 for a cheap trip to the stalls of Saigon without a plane ticket! Also must mention that the COVID-19 protocols are excellent and reassuring that my family and I are safe while dining there.
Convenient location just a short drive from my moms house and have long been meaning to go here for lunch. Three dishes all well prepared and presented. Tasty, fresh, and perfect for a cool fall day. Pleasant service and bright room with big windows added to the overall great experience. This place deserves attention. Will be happy to go again.

Great pho
There are 5 Pho places in Nanaimo. This one is better. So much meat. So much Pho. I couldnt eat it all. Me. They put the cilantro on the side as an add in, like bean sprouts. Its much appreciated by people, like me, it tasts like soap. $10.50 for regular. $13.50 for a large.

I live in chemainus and have eaten here several times. I just dropped in today at 12:30 for lunch. There were as many tables full as empty. When I sat down at a table the waitress said No room today. Obviously hoping to fill the tables with tourists. I was a year around customer. I will never eat there again. Bonnie Martin has better WonTon too.

This tastes like a typical Vietnamese place. There was a lot of vegetables so that is always a plus. It took us maybe 40 minutes to receive our food though because we came here via a tour bus so they had a bunch of people to serve and only two workers. Otherwise the restaurant seems to be quite empty most of the time as this is located in a small town. Their salad roll dipping sauce wasnt very good but the roll itself was well made. If youre stopping by this town Id recommend checking this place out if youre hungry for some Vietnamese food!
The food is fantastic. The owners are warm and welcoming... And the food. Fantastic. Its not run of the mill pho that is just blasts your mouth with salt. Its subtly seasoned, the beef is tender and perfectly rare and delicious. Cant say enough good things about this place. Definitely one of the hidden jems of the Cowichan area. And its insanely cheap. Tip generously. They deserve it.

My favorite restaurant in Chemainus, BC. The food is always hot/fresh and tasty with very decent prices. I wish they were open everyday, I would be there more often (Sunday and Monday) for dinner. I would recommend.
Didnt even eat there, walked through door 5 tables a mess, 2 people in there and stunk something aweful. They had a kid all of 10 running the front. Not impressed considering we love Pho. We will go the extra distance to go to Pho Boi in Nanaimo Hated it. Shouldnt get one star but had to to get access. I hope health board goes in.
I had dinner with some friends, including one who lives in Vietnam. The Vietnamese coffee is absolutely amazing. Appetizers included tofu with very authentic peanut sauce, spring rolls, and deep fried wontons. appetizers were fresh and tasty, as was our dinner. The Pho was served hot and flavorful, and while food took a while, there were 10 of us and we were in absolutely no rush. Authentic Vietnamese food, the service was friendly and attentive, and the decor is a little lacking, but it is Chemainus after all.
