8835 Young Rd, Chilliwack, BC V2P 4P6, Canada
Locally owned family-run North Indian restaurant. Established in our community of Chilliwack since 2005. It’s an honour to serve you.
Was pleasantly surprised at the interior of the new Promontory location. Service was great (and patient with our group), decided to try something different and I guess I was craving potatoes and ordered the Masala Fries and Samosa Platter. A lot of food for one (as I am a small eater), but the waitress packaged up a dose of sauces for me to enjoy later with my leftovers. We've been getting take out for years from Shandhar, but definitely will be taking my friends and family to experience the new location and try some new dishes!
Great authentic Indian food. Service was fantastic, will come back .
Food is amazing! Loved the taste 🥰 and very good prices, value for money!
It is not first time and last time. I love this restaurant too much. Best of the Chilliwack. Definitely I advice for everyone. Not expensive, delicious.
Great experience with everything. Went to meet up with friends and had a great dining experience, the food came out at the same time and was fresh and tasty. Our server was very helpful and informative. Would recommend eating here again in the near future.
Ratings Scale 0 - 10 Variety: 8 Service or Product: 9 Customer Service: 9 Environment: 8 Cleaning: 8 Washroom: 7 Cost: 7 Loved the food here as well as the customer service! Everything was tasty and made fresh! The fish tikka was prepared different from what I expected but it was really good with a hint of sweetness on the crispy crust. Naan were excellent as well, which many places don't get quite right! They also made a special aloo naan for my daughter so it wouldn't be spicy. The kitchen messed it up and added a lot of black pepper but our server had them make a fresh one, which was perfect for her! Overall this was top notch food and I highly recommend it if you're in the area.
Excellent food and skilled cooks. Having visited the restaurant multiple times, I can attest to the quality of the food, which is undoubtedly delicious and flavourful. However, they treat depend of your color or language skills. Despite the quality of the food, the service leaves much to be desired. On my recent visit, I ordered food to go, and when I picked it up, the cashier seemed uninterested and lacked basic customer service skills which was quite frustrating. It's disappointing that such a fantastic restaurant with great food falls short in this aspect. As a result, I feel like I'm doing them a favor by purchasing food from them, which shouldn't be the case and that poor customer service detracts from the dining experience.
The food was amazing!! Can totally understand the high ratings, we will definitely be back for the food. The service on the other hand was horrible. No warm welcoming and our server completely ignored us while going to the few tables surrounding us. Never checked on us, refilled waters or even brought the bill despite bringing the bill and talking for a very long time to surrounding tables. We even had to go inside to order something else. We are both servers so we’re always pretty aware of the service we receive. If the food wasn’t so good, the service would have turned us away.
I wasn t going to write anything but couldn t help We ordered shahi paneer garlic naan and Hakka noodles, everything was so bad!! We ordered everything medium spicy The noodles were overcooked and sweet??? Shahi paneer was so sweet And the naans were so hard Our mood was spoiled after eating here
Tom Kha was exquisite, highly recommended
This was the new restaurant they opened 4 months ago and it was absolutely fabulous!!
Great place for Indian food while visiting chilliwack Canada from the UK
Myself and my family have gone to shandar hut for many years. The flavors and taste of the food have always been absolutely amazing. Unfortunately the last year or so we have noticed that every dish we order has half the amount of meat that it used to, which is rather disappointing. Some of my family hawve even refused to order from them anymore because of this. Last night I spend $170 on an order for 4 adults and 2 toddlers. And ordered variety of dishes with different meats and even paid the extra $6 for the larger portion. Well all that $6 seemed to be was extra sauce. Now everything tasted amazing and everyone loved it but even my guests mentioned the lack of meat in all of the dishes (this was their first time eating from shandar hut)
I tried paneertikka tonight and its tooo tasty.. yummy...
Vegetarian options: Plenty of options. Kid-friendliness: Family friendly. Wheelchair accessibility: Wheelchair accessible.
This place is grubbing. You want to know something about Chinese food and Indian food it 9 out of 10 Chinese suck and its hard to find a good one then 9 out of 10 Indian food is great. So this place rock and is like the nice street food style and is soo grubbin
Excellent meal great service
The new location in Sardis is so great really love the robots they are so cute delivery your food that is just so good and the vegan and vegetarian options are just so well done bravo Vegetarian options: They are great as a vegan they take the care to prepare your food its just wonderful service
The food always tastes great. One of my favorite Indian restaurants
Every meal I ve had there has been delicious
The ambience, the decor with Great Food and the friendly Service. The background music added that special touch... They even accommodated our friend with a peanut allergy! Youll feel like MahaRaja! Food : 5/5 |
Amazing Indian food great staff and the best garlic Naan 10/10
Best Indian food in Chilliwack More like the Worst and Customer service is horrible! When to get something to eat for lunch at 2:30 and lady at front desk gave me the lunch menu and I placed my order at 2:35. Then she tells me, Oh, we dont service lunch menu after 2:30 Why would you give me the menu and 5 Mins difference! Great Customer service! Then I ordered the Lamb Biryani. Worst Indian good i every had! Just rice covered in indian masala with huge chunks of lamb. It was cold. Taste nothing but bitterness! When I was waiting for my food, there was another couple there talking about the Indian Funnel seed candy at the front and how they loved it, but they kept saying they dont know what it is. The Hostess Just stood the staring at them. I had to explain to them what it was. Great job with your customer service!
Ordered take out for the first time here. The food was great and the portions huge?
Delicious food and really good service. Friendly staff
Excellent food
The dogs bollocks for some indian food
Food was absolutely fantastic. Lots of flavour. Dairy free options. Nice atmosphere. Friendly staff. Excellent lunch options/deals. Great value for money. Clean.
ill be honest, i dont usually go out of my way for indian cuisine, however this was a great experience. work had a work lunch and we went here to pick it up. service was great, friendly and prices were fair. food was great, absolutely no complaints id definitely go again.
Unbelievably good food!
Always amazing food. Also great service from their delivery driver Joe. Poor guy got a flat tire in the pouring rain and he still delivered my food hot and with a smile. Will always be my go to for Indian Cuisine.
Love the food. We moved to quesnel but when we visit chilliwack one of our must haves. I was disappointed with service this time. Waitress was very distracted, but it would not stop us from returning.
We loved the service and gluten and dairy free food.
Love the food. I moved to Downtown Chilliwack. Its my second time in 3 months. Really Iike the food and service. Server Chelsea was awesome. The first time when I visited with my nearest and dearest ones she had just started. But in just 3 months she has grown in her role. Best food with best service in Chilliwack. Will come again.
Food amazing as always! Just picked up take out. They are very busy and could clearly do with an extra terminal to serve people. If you do dine in its a great experience. Very personable and old school restaurant style where they look after their clientele one on one basis. Keep up the good job peeps!
Heard this was the best Indian restaurant in BC and I agree. I came in skeptical of all the hype, but the food was awesome, service was great. Just sad that its all the way in chilliwack :( +its been 2 years since my last visit. Still just as good as I remember it to be.
The best in town Full stop Exceptionally delicious Food : 5/5
Absolutely amazing food and service - would highly highly recommend. Amazing vegan and gluten free options, so much choice and amazing flavour! Dietary restrictions: Sooooo many gluten free and dairy free options! Highly recommend and they were really accommodating. They even have gluten free naan.
Authentic taste and comfy ambiance. The service is great.
Always tasty and friendly service fairly priced.
Outstanding food and ambiance. We were graciously served by Tania and we we treated like royalty. Top notch in all regards and highly recommended - enjoy!
Used to be better. Still good, used to be great. Wait staff was friendly enough, but a bit lost. Will try the new location next time.
Always a great experience and excellent food at this restaurant
Good food and excellent service!
A gem of a place in Chilliwack! We were visiting from Toronto so we didn t know what to expect from an Indian restaurant away from Vancouver. To our surprise, what a taste and what a vibe! Deliciously awesome food and excellent customer service. Thumbs up!!! We will visit again! :)
I placed an order at the the downtown location. The staff seemed scattered and not really sure what they were doing. On top of this I found a short black hair in my korma. Ive been going here for years and Ive never received this kind of service. I hope things improve.
Service is good.. food was nice
This place is the best. Lovely owners and staff. Food is amazing, always in for the butter chicken. Paneer pakora is on point too! Parking: Lots of parking, can easily accommodate large vehicles or large groups. Kid-friendliness: Has a small kids menu, staff are very friendly and accommodating.
Foods amazing ! Best indian food I tried so far in the Lower Mainland. Staff is very friendly and everything done on time.
Did not enjoy the Kashmiri chicken or paneer dishes, in the Combo thali. Way too sweet for our preference.
Enjoyed an excellent lunch special with butter chicken and chicken Korma. Gluten free Naan! Great atmosphere and service. Highly recommend Dietary restrictions: Had Gluten Free Naan !
Very bad experience. Very rudeness and not fresh food
I just finished dinner, I used the delivery option. What delicious food it was. The palau rice was perfect, the roti tender, and the Shai Paneer sauce was sweet and savoury, rich while being healthy and fresh. I had the mild option. I will definitely be getting food here again.
Had take out from the new restaurant yesterday and when we got home we got a call that the rest of our order was not given to us and so we had to go back to pick it up . Would have been a nice gesture to maybe throw in a extra samosa for our trouble . Anyways I think the food is a bit overrated as you can buy better tasting samosas from the safeway deli . Also 4 samosas two small servings of some bean dish and some pocoras.40 dollars really .
Service was bit slow but nice
This is one of our go-to restaurants! Delicious food, friendly staff, and a great place to dine in if you enjoy a cozy environment and rich flavored food. Creamy kashmiri is my favorite, so give it a try.
Delicious Indian foods! My favorite is buttered chicken with Nann/paratha bread! Our server is very nice and kind, her name is Happy! If Im craving for Indian cuisine, I will definitely visit this place again!
The new location is so big and nice. Very authentic and the food is absolutely delicious. Friendly staff and prompt service. Highly recommend. The family is so kind and you can tell they cook with love. The best Indian cuisine in Chilliwack no question! Both locations are great with awesome service!
Best choley bhature in Chilliwack.
Wow, Just Wow On This Restaurant. Shandhar Hut Is One Of The Best Places To Dine In All Of Chilliwack, The Food Is Amazing And The Art And Walls Are Very Nice, Kitchen Looks Really Clean And The Furniture Is Very Nice. I Ordered The Indian Spice Butter Chicken And It Was Super Good And Was As Spicy As I Incorporated. Keep Up The Work! PS - The Workers Were Nice Too. - Keith, A Local Guide
Great food, great service awesome experience.
What a horrible service. I asked for to go order and I asked them for cuttlery to be added. When picking up the order I asked them if they have included the cutlery and they said no and asked if I want they will charge 50 cents more. They screwed my order. While leaving I cross checked my order and saw an appetizer was missing. When I asked them they asked to cross check my receipt and to their shock they saw it on my reciept and not in order. No apologies or nothinh from them. Definitely my business is going somewhere else next time. Wanted to eat my food with a sunset view and they ruined it all. Will come back with review on food after they get me my appetizer and I can eat it. What a horrible server/front desk rude lady.
Its been too long. Forgotten how good this is
Good food and service
Panner tikka masala is so delicious. Taste is so amazing.
Hi, Prison like bars around outside of entrance. (To keep out homeless?) Very dark entrance and dining area. 2 page laminated menu keeps things simple. Quick service. Very flavourful dishes, with 4 levels of spice heat. There is a slight difference between hot and Indian hot. Flavour was distinctive between the lamb and the goat. Both are very good. Popadom was like crisp paper but came with a spicy chutney. Naan bread was ok but flat and cut into 4 pieces. I prefer it uncut and fluffy. Gets very busy and have to wait outside to seat. Wheelchair accessibility: Very tight between tables.
Best Indian food in the Fraser Valley. Everything on their menu is amazeballs! Vegetarian options: Almost everything has vegetarian options. Kid-friendliness: Very kid friendly. Wheelchair accessibility: Ground level with no steps to get in.
Friendly staff always make it enjoyable. I must if you are nearby
Absolutely amazing food!
Best food good service
We celebrated my daughters 10th birthday here today. Her choice of restaurant, this is her favorite one in chilliwack! Service was excellent and food was amazing as always. They even brought out a birthday ice cream and sang to her. Lovely experience as usual Vegetarian options: Lots of vegetarian options to choose from Kid-friendliness: The kids love it
11 of us came in. They had us set up really fast. The food was amazing. Even helped with recommendations on a few of the entrees. They had no problem accommodating a couple of food allergies. Everything tasted amazing. Love going here for authentic cuisine! Dietary restrictions: We had 1 person with tree but allergy and another with Celiac. They had no issue accommodating. A wide range of options far better than most places.
Thanks for everything
Food is tasty but expensive
Great Indian restaurant with reasonable pricing.
Hands down the best Indian food weve had since we lived in the UK. We tried many vegetarian and meat dishes and nothing disappointed. We particularly loved the vegetable kashmiri, onion bahjis and chicken tikka. For 5 people who ordered drinks, bread, 3 types of rice, 2 meat dishes, 2 veggie dishes and 2 types of bread the bill was less than $200. We ate tons and still had more to bring home. The restaurant isnt the most fancy looking but its clean and the service was great.
Love the food!!!
We ordered pani poori, meat thali, Rogan Josh and everything was out of the world. Especially panu poori Food
Life changed! I always thought I didnt like indian food.. until I ate here and realized I actually love indian food - I only dislike indian food cooked by people who arent good at cooking indian food! The pakoras and onion bhaji here are especially addicting!! New favorite place!
Great food and nice service. We ordered for take out so did not experience the ambience. The taste is excellent. They know how to cook Punjabi dishes.
I LOVE this place so much one of if not THE BEST Indian restaurants in chilliwack the food is AMAZING and the service is very good and the atmosphere is so nice this place is a must if you want Indian food in chilliwack.
Delicious food. Highly recommended.
Great Food, nice people!!
Storied and tenured Indian restaurant. I will drive from Vancouver to Chilliwack just to go there. Best Indian food in the region by far. Food : 5/5
This is the worst Indian food I have ever had in BC, Canada. We ordered takeout from this place and the food was so oily that I could have cooked two meals from it. Rogan Josh chicken was very very salty to a point of bitterness. Anyone with blood pressure issues would have raised it in an instant. We threw away most of the curry as it was terrible. Saag paneer was also very oily and barely had many paneer pieces in it. I would stay away from this place.
Good size portions. Very helpful helping me choose the best thing to order because Im not familiar with this food. I will now forever be a client of theirs. I cant wait to bring my partner here to dine in this time.
The paneer korma was incredible. Highly recommend this place.
What a nice experience! The restaurant is cozy and the personnel are really helpful and nice. We ventured into trying something else than the classic butter chicken and we were pleasantly surprised! We tried the creamy kashmiri with chicken and ordered one for take out with paneer. We also had a veggie biryani. We ordered all medium spicy but we are good with hot food. It was perfect!
Pretty average food, everything was quite oily wont recommend
Phenomenal as always
As usual, fantastic! Yummy food and excellent service. So accommodating of our young family as well. Would definitely recommend for both dine-in and take-out.
Great food and service.
Love the food
Best ever restaurant in chilliwack .Quality, taste, quantity everything is awesome
This is a 3.5 star review. Our food here was pretty good, but memorable. The best dish we ordered was the vegetable biryani. Everything else we ordered were relatively mediocre. The dal was good. The naan was not my favourite. Full disclosure, only tried this establishment and none of the others.
We order for pickup regularly and like to try and dine in when we can. We have never had a bad experience. Food is always incredible!! 10/10 would highly recommend!
Just Great
Food is always on point. Fresh, hot, and very flavorful and good-sized portions. Staff is always wonderful and remembers you. The restaurant itself could use a refresh in the dining room as walls have been scarred down to the drywall. Other than that, I have no complaints
Great food and friendly staff. Looking forward to when they open their newest location. Youve got to try the vindaloo
Must try mango shake, just feel like home made
Shandhar Hut is one of Chilliwacks restaurant gems. The food, service and atmosphere is great. Ive dined in a couple times but usually order take out. They have a very convenient online ordering system. There are many allergy options, dairy free/gluten free and vegan. Dietary restrictions: My sister has celiacs disease and has enjoyed their gluten free options.
Great food! Expensive but what isnt these days.
Had a blast! Met up with friends, food was fresh and delicious, and our server was super helpful. Definitely coming back soon!
Award winning restaurant world renowned indian cuisine in Chilliwack! Had the wonderful experience of having Shandhar hut tonight with my family. Award winner for a good reason, proper base for the curry unlike most cheap places that use tomato soup as the base. Huge menu with incredible selection of fine dishes with the best mango juice ever. Thank you again, until next time
Delicious Food!
I strongly recommend everyone to visit this restaurant. Amazing.
Shady parking amongst the crackhead camping outside of this business but the food is the best Indian cuisine in chilliwack
5 star all the way! Food was hot and tasty. The service was quick even tho they were busy.
They had amazing curries. Tasty and delicious food.
We ordered the thali which was so good and worth it as their price. The paneer pakoras were very tasty and crispy. Moreover, the service was great . Try once
Rana s restaurant is my neighborhood, restaurant, on Yale road, im so happy i could get real authentic, Indian food its like its all made at home, my kids favorite place to go, i have to say its not just food, thats good also, the service, i recommend this lovely restaurant to anyone who wants to have a fulfilling meal. I wish them well.
Absolutely love their Biryanis. Crunch in every single bite.
Absolutely amazing food. We live far from here but every time we are in the area we have to stop by and get something to eat
Cozy seating with super friendly service. More $$$ than in Surrey for similar dishes but worth it. Best Lamb Saag I have had in years Compliments to the Chef who made it Had Lamb Saag, naan, rice pilaf, and yogurt with veggie samosas.
What has happened to Shandar Hut We have been going to Shandar Hut for the last 8 years and the food has been amazing. Tonight, we had take out. The food really sucked to be honest. The chic pea salads were more like chic pea chilli and the rice was not the rice I ordered for the butter chicken. The staff did not seem to care when I picked up my order. They have always been welcoming. The delivery driver should not be talking to the girls that are dealing with the kitchen staff. Maybe the owners should pay closer attention to the Younge Rd location. Disappointed for sure.
Yes ! Just go here. Your taste buds will thank you. yes, yes, yes.
Little overrated but otherwise good
Shandhar Hut is the best Indian restaurant out there! The food is always amazing, the service is always friendly, and whether eating in or taking out it s always a great experience. One of my favourite restaurants of any kind, anywhere!
Excellent Indian Cuisine! Everything tasted spot on, and service was amazing! Price is also reasonable for the proportions.
Previously had a poor experience. However; the person who I had the interaction with just offered me a sincere and genuine apology and explained the situation. I fully accept and will give the restaurant another try. I really appreciate how above and beyond he went to rectify the situation, and I am looking forward to frequenting this business again in the near future. Thank you! :).
Great Indian food with authentic tastes, it s like a gem in Chilliwack. Glad we went back after 6 years.
We went there not knowing what to order, so we asked our server to surprise us with vegetarian dishes. The food was delicious. Definitely going back.. Food
Sorry but the food service was pathetic and so was the taste of the food. I was highly disappointed that the server was not there we had spent 5 minutes calling her and she was all confused. We read the reviews and stopped here but it was a pathetic experience.
Six of us sat for a party and ordered a great blend of flavors and veg/meat dishes. All were good! Their Nan bread was hot and delicious and the water cold and refreshing! I ordered a prawn tandoori that was perfect! Will definately be back or will order out and hit a Netflix evening! Well done Shandhar Hut!
The best and only thing that s going for this restaurant is food. The service is very poor. It s very very slow. I know the food is made fresh so that creates an exception after you ordered but the time between sitting down and actually placing the order is excessively long. A serious word of warning to anybody who has not gone in there before. The menu does not have any prices on it. Sorry I m wrong. They have one price for lunch in about 15 bucks but any of the entrées any of the appy s etc has all the prices deliberately scratched out. We found this out and we ordered cauliflower rice which was very good in a half decent size bowl but it was $15. Atmosphere was OK and I am a little being a little harsh here because I like the music In summary come for the food as it is great
Delicious!
Good service, one of the ladies who serves speaks Spanish
Food and service where terrific.Check the appetizers. Yumm
Its best bro
Overall mediocre experience. Nothing overly bad but nothing great either. Went there shortly after they opened for the day. Food was alright. Some items were prepared well while others could use a revisit. Server could be more enthusiastic about being there. She was explaining the cost of the lunch thali and plain naan vs butter naan and pricing seemed really high for just adding butter to the naan. Food was presented well. The place could use a cleaning and the bathroom was messy when going to wash my hands. Also, the location is a bit sketchy where the parking is.
Best food Ive had since being in Chilliwack from the UK great flavours generous portions and fantastic service from Pearl highly recommend
We enjoyed another mouth-watering dinner at the Shandhar Hut last night. The restaurant was buzzing with people, so we sat out on the covered patio under heaters (and it was perfect). Pearl was our server and was gracious, efficient and friendly. The food was, as always, amazing & so flavourful. Wish we could have leftovers, but we ate it all!
Was told everything we were givin was gluten free. It wasnt, ended up sick and couldnt breath then when mentioned there was never an apology just an ask of a doctors note. I couldve died due to this careless action and I couldnt even get an apology for it just sworn at. If you have celiacs DO NOT GO HERE THEY DONT CARE FOR UR SAFTEY
Quite authentic tasting food. I had the butter chicken. Quite tasty. They probably should update the place a little bit though. A little run down. But the food makes up for it
Very good food and service. My favourite butter chicken Ive ever had.
l used to live in Chilliwack. l used to eat there often enough that they recognized me!! They do it to order, they spice it perfectly. Mild is mild all the way up to a 4 alarm fire if you do the Madras special, which l actually got my name on the pillar!! Vegetarian options: Eggplant dish is off the hook!
Best Indian Food in the Fraser Valley. Fair priced great food. Tried almost everything on the menu, and nothing has disappointed.
The place was packed so it must be popular, service was slow as molasses but understandable with how busy it was (although ideally they would have been properly staffed instead). I loved the menu selection. We got butter paneer and mixed veggie korma. I was here with my elderly step mom who finds anything more than black pepper too spicy but I like my food screaming hot spicy. I assured our server of this and asked for hottest sauce possible on the side. She looked amused and when the dishes were brought and she had already walked away I realized she had brought tamarind sauce which is sweet. I guess she didn t believe me which is common in Indian restaurants. Unfortunately it was so busy we never saw her again or anyone for that matter and I was starving due to the long wait so I was stuck with it. Would have liked to try their dishes spicy. Also the naan did not seem warm or fresh which would have been nice
Little bit busy but excellent taste & staff is really coperative and friendly.
It was not so very good experience. We ordered Fish tikka and goat biryani. They didn t bring our order for next 30 mins and we reminded them . After which they literally got us Fish chilly I guess bcs Tikka doesn t taste and look like that . Also biryani was weird , no Basmati rice ,had cashew on it and looked more like pulao but taste was fine.
Outstanding food, cooked and prepared well, the ingredients are all fresh, seasoned correctly with just the right level of spices without that salty after taste you find in so many others. If you enjoy Indian cuisine and enjoy a high level of quality attention to your foods preparation, its cooking and presentation make this your choice of takeaway Indian cuisine. This restaurant was recommended to me by a friend at work.
Shandhar Hut will never, ever disappoint you. Ive been going here for many, many years, and I am always blown away and dying to come back for more!
Try the madras indian hot! Super good and spicy
not good experience, we have ordered dinner items but not salads with that , not even good packaging and not good amount of food. Manchurian and goat curry was not fresh . chaat paapri is like samosa chat , doesnt not taste good.
Was our go too spot for Indian food. Nevercan issue with the service. Theyve changed their packaging which shrunk the portion and the food does not taste the same.
The food and service here is always great.
Rated best in BC! Had to check out the top pick for butter chicken and all the other curry choices in Chilliwack. Great for family and children with a range of spice levels making this the destination for all. Returning over and over in appreciation of the service of staff and food. Thank you again
Not a fan of my pakora s just dumped into a bag holding no heat. And small portions
Food is super good. I would say service is a bit slow. And try the daal makhni. Dietary restrictions: The menu has all the details and different options for dietary restrictions. Food : 5/5 |
Slow service but worth it. Unique and excellent authentic Indian cuisine. You go here to taste amazing food! We will be back.
Staff went above and beyond to accommodate a very difficult food allergy and helped make it possible for my wife to enjoy some of her favorite foods that she hasnt been able to have in a long time, they have ensured that we will be coming back for many years to come. To the Chef and staff, thank you so much for your above and beyond service.
Enjoyed the food
