Restaurant
Went here for date night and it didn't disappoint. Our fish was so well cooked we couldn't stop raving about it. Will definitely be coming back !
Delicious food and good service for our birthday celebration at Bow & Stern. Everyone at our table enjoyed their mussels, salads, pasta, fish and steak. Would definitely return.
Recently, my friends and I celebrated an important event in this restaurant after a wedding, and everything was just great! The cuisine is beyond praise: each dish was truly delicious, prepared with love and attention to detail. The service is also top notch - the staff is attentive, friendly and professional, which created a special atmosphere of coziness and celebration. Thank you very much for the warm welcome and the wonderful evening we spent in your restaurant! We will definitely come back!
Long review warning ⚠️ My gf and I came in late last week and asked to be sat on the patio, which we adored! It's beautifully laid out, feels intimate yet spacious, and the patio lights brought great ambiance! Our server was so kind, polite, tentative, and knowledgeable about many menu items, both food and drink. My gf ordered a ceaser, which came out quite chunky on the bottom and was not quite satisfied as she was not a fan of said chunks. Before she could say anything to our server, she noticed it was not being drank, zipped right over, and asked if something was wrong and what she could do. She offered to have it re-made, to which my gf said please, and within 5 minutes, she had a chunkless ceaser arrive at the table. I had the white sangria, and it was so good it was dangerous. (I believe the sangria was $13) We defiently ordered more than we could eat, but everything looked so good, we had to try some options amongst us. We started off with the 6 freshly shucked oysters, which were just as delicious as we were hoping for! Served with fresh horse radish, a homemade tasting cocktail sauce, a lovely vinegarette, lemon wedges, and the cutest individual bottle of tobasco we ever did see. ($24 for 6) Next came the calamari, which we are both still RAVING about. It had the perfect level of crisp to it, was still hot when it hit our table, topped with fresh purple onion and the most amazing tatziki like dipping sauce. 🤤 ($19, I believe) For our mains, my GF ordered the Arctic Char, which she said the fish was cooked perfectly but didn't have a lot of flavor. (I'm not a fan of fish itself, so I didn't try the char itself to have any kind of opinion on it.) The risotto was very, very cheesy (parmesean) and quite peppery. We can both agree that the brocolini was cooked perfectly as well. She said the risotto was very rich and not necessarily her thing, so we opted to swap plates towards the end. ($31) I had the heartiest serving of clams & mussels I've ever seen plated for one person. I am still dreaming about the white wine cream broth they came in. When ordering, I asked our wonderful server if she would recommend the white cream sauce or the Spanish tomato chorizo sauce. She didn't even skip a beat when recommending the white wine cream sauce and was not wrong when she said, "It's so good. You could seriously drink the cream sauce." Clams where a new experience for me, and something I will definitely be ordering again in the future. The white wine sauce was creamy, garlic-y, and I really couldn't put my finger on what it was, but it was delicious and give this specific dish a 20/10 all day long. Big props to the chef and kitchen staff on that one!! 🤤 (If it didn't feel so fancy in there, I would've 100% tried to drink the sauce.) ($28) My gf also was in love with my choosing and was more then satisfied she got to swap me as both Mussels and Clams were a new experience for her, to which she really really enjoyed and also raved about the sauce. Both of us ate ourselves into discomfort, so we had no room for dessert but planned to be back in the near future for dessert, happy hour, and another round of trying new dishes. *outdoor patio is wheel chair accessible, side walk accessible (gate), dog friendly, and the resteraunt is overall family friendly. There is a main floor seating area as well as an upstairs seating area. The downstairs bathroom was clean, well kept, and well stocked. *patio was clean, garbage free, dust free, and beautifully kept with no tears in the umbrellas, burnt out bulbs, or dead flowers. *we lucked out on parking and snagged sidewalk parking right infront of the doors more aless but I can see where this would be slightly challenging with bus stops and many successful small businesses being operated on that strip now. There is a small parking lot on the same side of the street as Bow and Stern, less than a 5 minute walk down the way, heading AWAY from 5 corners, towards 711. We really lacked the photos this go around as we just couldn't wait to dive in 🫣
Very impressed with the Bow & Stern . Food was on point delicious and well plated. It was a slower time of the night when we arrived so no pressure and food came out fast . Had a friendly server Ian who did an excellent job . A great layout highlighted the marine aspect of their name. Definitely a great spot for friends and family . I will be back 🤙
It’s not very often I have a perfect experience at a restaurant, but I sure did at Chilliwack bow and Stern restaurant! It was a beautiful summer day, so we sat outside underneath the umbrella to keep the sun off of us. Their patio is very cool! Hannah was our Server, and she really was as perfect as a server can be. It was my Friend’s birthday, and not only did she love it because her food was fantastic, she was really treated well by the restaurant. She had a fantastic dessert that she shared with us. I had the fish and chips, and it was fantastic as well. I highly recommend the Bowen Stern, and want to mention that this has been one of a number of great experiences. I have had there. I almost forgot to say that their New England clam chowder is amazing!
Came for hubby's birthday, his complimentary dessert was delicious, lobster & prawn mac and cheese was bomb, super flavourful. Calamari was the best cooked calamari we have had in a long time, so soft and crisped beautifully, every other place I've been to in chilliwack serves chewy/rubbery calamari. Clam chowder was delicious. Oysters were good but small. Only complaint was seafood linguine was quite bland. Service was great. :)
This place has a hold on me. It consistently delivers good food & service, and there hasn't been a time where I've walked out indifferent (or worse) to eating there. And that's what I'm all about, knowing I can count on eating there to be a solid experience. And man I can't get enough of the fish & chips. The only downside is that there's only a 1 piece or a 2 piece option. I'm gonna need a 3 piece option guys. 26/08/24 Edit: It's an extra $12 for 3rd piece of Cod
Went out Dec 17th for my birthday, 10 of us, our table was upstairs. The manager was great and put free appies on the table because the table before us would not leave so we had to wait 30 min past our reservation. Food was good, burgers are small, Lobster mac and cheese was amazing. Server not great at all, she would only talk to the younger guys and not ask any of the older people or younger ladies of they wanted or needed anything. We would have spent more money then we did but she would not ask us for second rounds of drinks. When it was desert time, my husband had it already set up with the hostess when he called for reservation but nothing ever came, and the server didnt even offer. Servers are suppose to be salesman this is how the restaurant and servers make thier money, this particular server not a salesman and not good for your business if you want to make money.
Great food, attentive and polite staff.
Wanted to leave a special Review for our Server, Sarah, who took care of us tonight. The Clam Chowder was amazing, and I really appreciated the extra fries, with the B&S Burger, but the service tonight was excellent. Sarah was amazing, and deserves special recognition.
Went here for happy hour and the vibe was nice. Ordered 12 oysters but got 11 so that was a bit funny. Our server was nice but just a bit slow to check up on us.
i enjoyed my experience here staff are friendly food was great
Loved my experience here at Bow and Stern! Food was delicious, service was great, and I loved the festive atmosphere. Would highly recommend for a lovely evening out with great food
Shelby picked up the ball when I first sat down and made our experience exceptional. My thanks go out to her.
Love this place, great food and staff are fantastic.
The chicken tacos and halibut burgers are simply amazing!
Staff is very accommodating, I needed the elevator they got it ready for me and escorted me up and down. Appreciated this very much thanks everone. The food was great.
Meal was good but not great. Server was great.
Fabulous! Halibut, chips, and a margarita on the rocks!
We sat upstairs at the bar. Our bartender was very nice and attentive.
I had the poke bowl, delicious! Dietary restrictions: I am vegan and gluten free, they make the crispy tofu bowl so I had no worries about eating it Food : 5/5 |
I went here for the second time today, accompanied by 3 additional people. We went for happy hour and everyone got the bottomless fries with red wine gravy. The first batch of fries to come out were pretty soft, not crispy but tasty. Additional orders proved to be more consistent. Unfortunately, I ordered a cup of the Clam Chowder. It was alright, nothing I d really complain over but not something I d order again. At some point I took a bite and got a mouthful of what I m assuming is sand. Small, very hard and inedible bits coated my teeth as I crunched down on it before immediately spitting it out and rinsed out my mouth as it was very uncomfortable. I have sensitive teeth with an enamel issue, so this hurt. I tried my best to explain what had happened to our server and she said she would check with the kitchen. It was taken away and nothing else was said about it.. no apology, no offers to substitute it for anything ect. It wasn t on the bill but I was left feeling like they couldn t care less. I wasn t acknowledged at all after the fact. It s a shame since the restaurant is beautiful and it s very close to our house. Update: I went back on my birthday with one other person, and the hostess laughed at us for not having a reservation. Very poor customer service, this made me uncomfortable.
It was a birthday party with 20 people and the staff did a great job
I had a great experience at the Bow and Stern. This was my first dining experience in Chilliwack. The Christmas vibe in the area was fantastic. The service was excellent.
excel food good drinks
Lovely meal, staff were great.
I want to love this place. I really do. But I feel the need to touch on my experience, here as I sit at the wood. I came in around 9:30pm, was told by the hostess I was fine to take a seat at the bar and she would bring a menu - a menu never came. I then sat there for 10 mins waiting for service, however, the bartender was too busy chatting and leaning on the bar with what looked like regulars or off shift staff. When he finally saw me he did promptly get an order from me and was friendly enough. When my food came - the tuna tataki, I was surprised with how sour the coulis was. To the point that it was almost too much. I love tart - I m drinking a sour. But this was too much. I never had a quality check or table touch during my entire service. Otherwise I would have said something but I was not provided with the opportunity. My drink is currently with only an inch left, and the bartenders are too focused on closing their bar down an hour before you close than to sell me anything else. I give this review as honest as I can as someone that has served, bartended and managed establishments for the last decade, and being new to town. There is so much potential for this establishment to be the BEST. But these are basic service standards, across the industry being missed. For the price point, I don t think I can honestly say it s worth your money. Sorry to say, and hopefully this review can help improve service standards.
Great atmosphere, friendly staff and great food..Will be going back
Monday evening, fairly quiet. Sketchy characters wandering around outside, making walking to vehicle daunting in the dark. Food
We came from Scotland uk to chilliwack fishing for the week with great river fishing adventures. Com And eat here nights out of 5 The Arctic char is beautiful So are the fillet steaks 8oz And the Brussels and seaweed to share was an excellent side for x2 peoples. Lobster was amazing 2! All pictured! Vegetarian options: There is here Dietary restrictions: Gf yes Parking: Great place and friendly staff Wheelchair accessibility: Yes all on 1 floor
Nice atmosphere Make people feel relaxed and happy to dine We ordered mussels, B&S burgers and beers. Delicious Recommended.
I attended a graduation party at Bow and Stern on October 10 th 2024 and if I m frank it was one of the worst experiences I ve had a long time . The party was mostly black folks( 15 folks max) and we only had one waiter for the entire dinner party. Our waiter was clearly flustered and couldn t handle such a large party alone and nobody was brought in to assist until it came to pay . Shockingly we discovered 17/18% percent in gratuity was already attached to our bill . The service we were provided was not up to par with other restaurants we frequent and the food was not the greatest quality . As a black woman surrounded by other black folks I felt as though not enough attention was paid by staff to ensure we had a pleasurable experience overall . I will not be recommending bow and stern for any special occasions in the future .
Goos food..Good service
Small portions foods okay
We went for dinner to celebrate a successful fishing trip in Chilliwack. Perfect location, very nice service and our waiter Nicole was so friendly and made great recommendations! We had lobster, steak, cod, halibut and artic char, amazingly cooked! We experienced a minor issue with an appetizer and it got fixed right away. Manager was very professional. Definitely recommend this restaurant and would go back again.
Awesome service, great drinks and delicious food! Accommodated our huge party with grace and kindness! One of our family faves!
Wonderful place for a seafood brunch!
Loved this place , food, service was awesome..parking is a nightmare tho.. Vegetarian options: Lots of items to choose from Parking: Have to keep circling to find a spot either on the street or in a paid parking, which is a walk to get back to the restaurant. A challenge with a elderly with limited mobility.
Partners favorite restaurant
Bow and Stern chilliwack is located in a nice spot. The food is subpar but way over priced. The service is really slow. Oysters were awful and had a ton of shell pieces in them. Tips starts at 18% which is insane on an overpriced dinner. Will not be back.
Good service, nice atmosphere. Decent food and a bit pricey. Oysters were good but very small. The halibut fish and chips were good but the fries were cold. The mojito was really good . Food
Dietary restrictions: Gluten and dairy free options Food
Always great!
This establishment was top notch! The food was amazing and the service was AAA+ Best restaurant in Chilliwack by far.. Food : 5/5
Food
We use to love Happy hour but the options now are very limited. We ordered off the regular menu. Although I thought my meal was ok, my husband didnt like his at all which was something that used to be his favourite. Unfortunately we are going elsewhere next time.
We ordered the fish and chips (their signature dish). The fish was maybe 1 oz fish with 6 ozs of batter and oil.
The service and market platter were exceptional. However, the crab was not worth the additional charge and I would skip it next time. Get the oyster shot! Kid-friendliness: This is a good date atmosphere
I had my birthday party here tonight! Great food and was treated amazing by the waitress Billie
We had a wonderful date night at Bow and Stern. The service (Liz was such a delight!) and atmosphere were lovely. Stand out items were the clam chowder, the oysters and the mussels in white wine cream sauce. My husband made sure to wear his crab shirt to celebrate.
We really enjoyed the atmosphere and food. Both times there, the service was fantastic. The young hostess needs to relax and have more training, but they have to start somewhere.
The best Cobb Salad I have ever had, I dream about it. Great atmosphere at Bow and I love that the cocktails taste real and authentic. Nicole is such a fun server and makes each visit an experience.
Good food, good mood inside restaurant
Delicious food, was kid friendly, and had amazing mocktails! Kid-friendliness: They have a small kids menu, crayons, and were very accommodating for our 3 year old. Food : 5/5 |
Food was enjoyable and the atmosphere was nice. The prices felt pretty high. Overall a good experience.
Friendly and experienced staff. Excellent food.
We ordered the clam chowder, which was delicious, but wish there was more. Also ordered the shrimp tacos, which were good, but very small. Not really worth the cost of each. Perhaps this issue could be addressed!!!!!
Food is always good and the service is very good
Great pizza by the slice!
Coming from the state of Washington i was anxious to try this place when I discovered it, best seafood in Canada that Ive had, it tops all the seafood restaurants where Im from. Will return again
Nice place best in the town
One of our favourite local places. We came in for dinner to celebrate my partners birthday, and were treated to a truly perfect dining experience. Our server was Nicole, and she was amazing; she had such a welcoming demeanour, and I m not sure I ve ever had such attentive, timely service. I can t say enough about how on the ball she was. The food was next-level great as it has been every time we ve come in. Thanks for another stellar dinner, and congrats on the new restaurant!
Mmmmmm! Great service, great food!
Nichole was fantastic!
Kid-friendliness: Really good to little ones Food
I love this place
Best place ever! Friendly staff! great seafood! Beer is great!
I have previously written negative reviews and have been eating here for 3 years. Bow and Stern Chilliwack has totally redeemed itself to us. The last two recent dinners exceeded expectations and were delicious. Glad it is getting better.
Food was delicious. The service though was top notch. From the moment I arrived to my departure I was treated like a queen. The staff was welcoming and attentive. And my server Liz C was phenomenal. Cannot wait to bring my husband.
Our 4th visit to this amazing restaurant. Food is always delicious, fast friendly service, great atmosphere inside dining and outside. Had the pleasure of being served by todays manager Sarah. Totally professional, welcoming, friendly, efficient, and above all great personality for a foodservice manager. She made our 4th meal experience totally awesome . She is a manager for a reason so owners really did well to have such a top drawer manager making the restaurant our go to place when we fine out. Thank you Sarah you rock! Parking: Usually not a problem for street parking for each of our 4 visits. Kid-friendliness: Sarah was definitely a 10 out of 10. Need I say more? Good service, extremely friendly, professional and a real treat to have been served. Y such an all rounded professional. TJ and Amy
Nicole was the first server I had when there and continues to be one of my favorite servers there! Great service always from her, best laugh ever ,very warm and welcoming always
Great food. Good quality! Had the lobster mac and cheese with the b+s burger. Liz was the best and provided great suggestions. Carrot cake is a MUST
Food was excellent and our server, Liz was exceptional Parking: A little difficult to find street parking Food : 5/5 |
Steak rare Chicago was perfect Everything else was great too. Not oppressively loud and dark like chain restaurants and the food had great care in preparation and presentation. Service was A++ - thank you everyone Food
Yummy lunch spot in Chilliwack. Good food and friendly service!
Love this place!
They really went the extra mile for our date night last Saturday. Nothing but good things to say. Food
Liz was amazing Kid-friendliness: Liz was great Food : 5/5 |
Absolutely wonderful
We had Brooke M as our server and she was amazing! Super kind, quick and efficient in making sure we got our food and drinks in a timely manner. Thank you so much to Brooke for going the extra mile and making date night so enjoyable!
Nicole is the best Dietary restrictions: GF.... Was handled well. Food : 5/5 |
Nicole was a wonderful host for our summer ending ritual...seafood and drinks to celebrate the changing season. Nicole was attentive, keeping our glasses and plates full. We will be back soon!
Had another amazing evening here. It has become a Labour Weekend tradition. Highly recommend the GF calamari and the hot seafood platter. Our server Nicole made the night even better.
Had a great meal. The staff was great, very courteous, and knowledgeable. Had their special, chicken sandwich. Itvwas great.
Food was just average, had expected a better quality
What an amazing restaurant, Clam Chowder was off the charts, same with the Ceasar Salad and Fish and Chips. Ignore any bad comments cause this place was spectacular. Waitress Jenna was a
Upscale eatery in downtown Chilliwack...really enjoyed the crabcakes meal which were tasty, They serve seafood dishes, pasta, Tacos, bowls, and salads, etc. Service is great, very attentive. Live music on friday evenings. Reservations on weekends recommended. Bon appétit! Parking: A parking lot is a short walk away,
Lobster poutine was awesome. Calamari was crisp and delicious. Bacon burger was amazing. Beers were cold and tasty. Wait staff was on their game. Definitely check this spot out when you are in the coolest place in downtown Chilliwack, District 1881. Kid-friendliness: Kids menu, colouring sheets and crayons
Fish and chips was good, fish burger not bad. But fish and chips is a better value, 2 pc fish for $24. Fish burger and fries $23. Bill came.$50 just for.lkunch with no drinks.
Amazing gluten-free fish and chips! So good!
First time here and so impressed! Great atmosphere and the food is amazing! If you like food with flavour...this is the place. Had the Brussel sprouts and Cippino...so good. Sangria the best Ive tried in a long time. Service amazing...thank you Billie! I live in Coquitlam, but most definitely will come out again to eat here. Also reasonable prices!
The food was amazing the atmosphere and the service was second to none. Liz our server made my birthday dinner extra special thank you very much and we will be there again Parking: The parking was less than a block away and a free lot there is however a lot of parking in the back and on the street
Nice bar friendly staff good location
Food was great staff super friendly, Was a busy night which made it super loud. Also left a special card Food
Always great food and fantastic service (thank you Liz!) Highly recommended
The food came so quickly! It was so fresh and delicious! The staff was so friendly and helpful. Our waitress Billie anticipated our needs before we had to ask. This is our favourite - go to - restaurant for calamari, fish and chips! It was such a delicious surprise to receive a dessert on the house for our anniversary celebration!
Absolutely amazing dining experiences. We had the seafood tower and it was incredible
Closest thing to the East Coast in Chilliwack, no doubt.
Serene and amazing. Food wasnt salty, just perfect.
It is an amazing restaurant to have dinner at, I tried the lobster Mac n cheese and have practically zero complaints.
We ordered fish and chips with a lobster & cheese. It was great .
Always amazing, never disappointed!
A favourite spot for a nice meal out with friends and family. Wonderful food - our faves include calamari, lobster Mac and cheese, fish and chips, fish tacos, halibut, and braised beef.
Nice place. Service was excellent and the food was good. Expensive in my opinion, but good regardless. Parking: Parking can be a pain to find.
thoroughly enjoyed our girls night out on Friday, July 26th, great seafood, plenty of laughs and total professional and attentive nature of our server, Nathan H, we will return!
Our mains were fine, the service was fine, the atmosphere was fine .. What wasn t fine is what apparently passes for key lime pie. I was expecting a lovely creamy key lime filling over a buttery biscuit base. What I got was a slimy lime curd in a pastry tart case with some cream on top. I definitely would not order it again.
Great expereience!!
I ve eaten here a few times and am always pleased. They have a good drink menu. There are gluten free for my sisters with celiacs disease. The servers have always been kind to double check and make sure kitchen staff are aware. Good service. There is lots of space to move around but the door does not have an accessible button, for such a nice, new development area it s so disheartening that many of the doors are inaccessible. That is not very welcoming to guests with mobility aids or strollers. Dietary restrictions: Some of the menu options can be modified with gluten free substitutions safe for someone with celiacs disease. Wheelchair accessibility: There is lots of space to move around but the door does not have an accessible button, for such a nice, new development area it s so disheartening that many of the doors are inaccessible. That is not very welcoming to guests with mobility aids or strollers.
My waitress what is decent the food was amazing and came quickly good atmosphere not too busy good food a bit more on the expensive side though
Extremely welcoming staff...knowledgeable on the menu...delicious food! Had the lobster Mac & cheese & the Tomatoe Linguine with brutta...just incredible. Even compted our anniversary dessert . Stop in and have a meal...you wont be disappointed.
Great food and the service was excellent. Parking: Downtown core. Limited free street parking and a paid lot about a block away. Food : 5/5 |
Amazing service and great food. Shelby was amazing and helpful
Amazing..will become a regular now for sure. They nail the food everytime. My steak was Primo 100%. Good job all!
We waited so long for someone to come and take our order, we actually had to ask. Fries were burned and dry. The chicken wings were cold and very small. The water smelled a little and had a taste to it. The experience was not that pleasant. 18 percent tip as the lowest option is not justified.
Best Sangria & Cesar I ve had in a while. The bow and stern burger I ve had probably 20+ times some how it got even better. 10/10. Shelby was one of the best servers I ve had in awhile made our date night very special and took great care of us both. Highly recommend
First time at Bow & Stern Chilliwack. The food was good but the service was better. Big thank you to Billie E, you make a mean Shirley Temple.
Fantastic food, friendly staff, and good beer. We liked it so much, we came back twice. Nice ambience as well - interesting building with the exposed brick and blocks.
My favourite restaurant in Chilliwack. Check out their brunch!
Bad service
We drove into this quaint little town called Chilliwack. There was some kind of festival going on. The vibe was great. Some music and dancing going as well as singing in their central district. We decided to try the food at Bow and Stern. The place was clean, great atmosphere, and popular among the locals and tourists like us. We ordered calamari, fresh oysters, and steamed clams in white wine cream sauce. The oysters tasted fresh, delicate, and melts in your mouth. Calamari was crispy but it needed a little bit of salt maybe with the crunch, it was just ok even with the squeeze of lemon and dipping sauce, its lacking that calamari taste. The clams are always a winner for me tho maybe less creamy will be best but it is my palette and my opinion alone. However, Tori, our waitress, elevates everything with her charm and great customer service. Would definitely come back if were in the area. I recommend this place. They also have beer on tap with rotating flavors. Give this place a try, you wont regret it Parking: Street parking are free with limited time sign or unlimited the farther you park from the main district where we parked.
After having arrived for our reservation and being seated we had 4 other tables that were seated after us in our vicinity have their drink and food orders taken and we were still waiting to have our drink order taken. We were also ready to order our food with the menus closed and stacked. We ended up leaving and eating elsewhere. Unfortunately this was also a lunch date to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Very disappointed.
Food was delicious, especially the lobster and prawn mac n cheese. Waiters and waitresses are very polite and know how to engage with their customers. Parking: plenty of parking
I dined in yesterday afternoon on the patio between 12:30-2:00 and our server was amazing! I didn t catch her name but she was so kind and provided excellent service. We got the mussels for an appetizer and they were phenomenal as always. Our entrees were pretty good as well, little cold, but could ve been due to us sitting on the patio on a rainy day. Overall, I love coming into Bow and Stern, especially this location!
When making reservations the occasion was marked as being for a birthday. They did something for the table ahead of us but nothing for us. The service was less than to be desired. This is the 3rd time I ve been here and each time the service was less than desirable. Not sure what the hype is but this restaurant is not on my top 5 list.
Had a fantastic server...attentive, knowledgeable, and pleasant. Food was fantastic. Outdoor atmosphere was also great. Bow and Stern went through a crappy time with its food quality and service, but that has clearly been remedied. Looking forward to going back!
Right in the heart of downtown Chilliwack. A great place for a meet up with friends or a special occasion. We love their clam chowder. The calamari, however, was not the best. Friendly staff.
Delicious! Super nice staff.
Happy hour burger and beer is a great deal. One of our favorite places in Chilliwack.
Absolutely love it here! Tried the new Flight of Pies and had the key lime, lemon meringue and summer berry . SO GOOD! Highly recommend!!!
We love Bow & Stern, its one of our favorite restaurants in Chilliwack! I highly recommend the new Lobster Roll and fries! There are so many nice large chunks of lobster set on a wonderfully soft potato roll and their fries are fantastic, nice and crispy! This is also the perfect size meal in my opinion because you dont leave the table feeling over-stuffed but you certainly are not hungry either. We are still working our way through the menu but it will be hard to pass on the Lobster Roll next time.
Friendly staff, tasty food!
Food was delicious - I couldn t fault the salmon burger; however I wasn t impressed with the flight of pies dessert. The key lime pie is NOT your traditional key lime pie - it s more of a lime curd tart (it wasn t set) and the lemon meringue pie is like a lemon curd tart with sloppy meringue on it rather than light, fluffy meringue. Had I known this we wouldn t have ordered it as most of it was wasted (two out three of us don t like curd type fillings).
Pretty yummy nice vibe situated in an interesting chilliwack theme park
Really enjoyed the Ciappino Absolutely great and definitely worth to come from Vancouver to try it
We had a great food experience! We loved the place, the service, and the food!
Great food. One of the best risotto I ever had
First time and wont be the last... delicious food, great server...
We wanted try out some seafood and came across this beautiful place! Food is fantastic. We ordered calamari and it was delicious ( less batter and time in the frier, otherwise delicious) we ordered seafood platter, everything was cooked to perfection I would recommend having garlic butter as an option! Otherwise, recommend this place!
Wow, my first time here was awesome! Im definitely coming back. The food was delicious, and the service and vibe were top-notch!
They had better seats and didn t offer us and we asked to change. Linguine is a big portion. The server is friendly. Thanks. Food : 4/5
Polite, quick service. Great food.
Incredible presentation of the good along with flavours! Had the halibut with gluten free batter along with fries - truly some of the best crispy batter and fries! Also had the arctic char - excellent crispy skin & the butter on the side was a great addition of flavour. The seasoned vegatables was brocollini.
Great atmosphere
Great spot in a lively rejuvenated part of downtown Chilliwack! Oysters were fabulous, seafood pasta and scallop carbonara were also delicious.
Going by the reviews, my husband and I booked Saturday night dinner here. Expecting to be wowed. Mentioned our anniversary in the reservation, but it was never brought up to us. (Missed opportunity) seating was a bit of a struggle. Didnt want an unadjustable booth for size reasons and had a real moment trying to explain if the chair moves then the seating will be fine. 3 front of house folk to finally get seated somewhere on the mainfloor. Ordered the ceaser with prawn add on. It was a very small prawn for 2 dollar 50. Got calamari to start. It was 80%breading and the actual squid was ....ethereal for lack of better phrase. Barely noticeable, flavourful was bread crumb. Disappointing. Husband paid 34 for 2 pieces of halibut and chips. Needed salt, but thats sort of a personal thing. Barely any chips but they were crisp and good. The fish portion was so small. Hopefully its a sustainable fish source at least? I ordered the scallop carbonara. Mistakes were made. I didnt read that they use pancetta instead of guanchale (pancetta is much saltier) I just saw scallop and carbonara and ordered with my stomach instead of my brain. Dinner came out FAST. Which made it ever stranger when I found the scallops you be criminally over cooked. Not slightly but epically. Dry, hard, you could see the shreds of meat as it was splitting around the curves. I tried one to give it the benefit of the doubt and it was like the dried scallops you get in lotus rice or congee. Fired and refired maybe? Not sure. I could barely see the pasta because it was caked in huge flakes of parm (couldnt be parm reg. No crystals. Mid quality) but veerrrry salt. Paired with the tangles of pancetta it made for a mound of very salty pasta that had NO taste of black pepper. They only had preground. My husband could read my disappointment and kindly asked the kitchen to take another stab at it. And the second time around was leagues better but still lacked in fresh black pepper and had way way too much parm showered over the top. While grateful the second shot at my dinner was improved I think the flow of the night was dampened by that point and normally we would have stayed for another drink and dessert we made a quick exit. Staff was friendly and handled the ask for a do over with grace and professionalism (For the record: No comps and we tipped. I dont often take the time to write a review of warning) Wheelchair accessibility: Upper seating area is stairs only but seats can be moved on mainfloor to accommodate a larger body or wheelchair
Sarah is great Food is amazing Service excellent I highly recommend this as a go to Food : 5/5 |
Food
We went in for Fathers Day dinner, and it was busy as to be expected. However, our server Mark did an amazing job with ensuring that our experience was a good one. Once again, Bow & Stern, you didnt disappoint.
Some of the best food Ive eaten. They were very busy, reservations are preferred but we did not have one and they were able to get us in. Our server was great, very attentive but not overly annoying. Highly recommend this place. The wild salmon was excellent
What an amazing way to finish the day. It was my first tine here and I ma definitely coming back again! The food was great and the service and ambiance was amazing! Thank you very Food : 5/5 |
10/10 all around. The food was amazing, service was amazing and atmosphere as well. Tori was an excellent server and we really loved our experience dining here!
A very cool atmosphere. The staff was great. The food was better than expected. My wife really enjoyed the Dungeness crab which is served with clarified butter. We had Brussel Sprouts and a dynamite roll to start. The Brussel sprouts are done in a chili honey sauce and I think were as good as they could be... And I am not a fan of Brussel Sprouts. The dynamite roll was tasty and I ate a few pieces despite not generally being a fan of sushi. The fish and chips were great. The coating on the halibut is a bit thick but was airy and pillowy so I didnt mind it. The flavour was very good. The cook on the fish was on point. For dessert I had their chocolate pudding which has an espresso cream. They make it in house and it is delicious with the bits of toffee crumbled on top. My wife had their carrot cake. She loved it. The icing is delicate and tasty. The cake, itself, I did not try as it has pineapple in it and I am not a fan of that. We will be back for sure.
Mediocre. Use to be my favorite restaurant. Has been a while since I went. Maybe they changed the chef but it certainly wasnt the stellar food Id had from them before. Probably wont be back again. Too expensive for mediocre.
We have attempted to go to Bow and Stern twice now in the past 6 months. We have infant twins and require a stroller when we go out. Each time we went (3pm and 4pm) we have been told that there is only room for our party of 5 upstairs. However, we were told that we can t use the elevator to get our stroller upstairs. So we thought we would take the car seats out apparently they would be too bulky for the tables they had and people wouldn t be able to get by. Each time we offered to wait for a downstairs table but were told it would be a 40 min plus wait. What really bothered us was the oh well attitude that the hostesses and waitresses had. We were made to feel like, well it s your problem so take it or leave it. When we said, I suppose we can t wait that long. We will go elsewhere. The hostess just shrugged.
This place has yet to disappoint.. Every item on the menu is amazing.. Full of unique flavors with delicious choices, even our picky eaters. Did I mention... the happy hour adds such additional value. Kid-friendliness: Delicious kids menu
I would eat here everyday if I could. Exceptional service, beautiful patio and exquisite food. Every detail is considered here and it shows. We loved our server! 10/10
Any time I m in Chilliwack, I got to stop here for dinner great food. Had the Lobster and Shrimp Mac & Cheese, the best I ve ever had and chocolate pudding to finish it off.
Food was good the mac and cheese a little runny for my taste but flavor was great
I have been returning to this restaurant over the last 3 years now (since they opened), as they always deliver on service and food. The atmosphere is also great. They play great music in the background that isnt too loud for you to still enjoy a conversation with your table. My favorite dishes are the oysters, fish tacos (simply the best tacos I have had cross canada), and the creme brulee or cheesecake. Brunch is also great here if you are considering going. Anything you choose from the menu - you will not be disappointed. Vegetarian options: Plenty of options available. Dietary restrictions: They cater to your requirements. Just ask and they can confirm what you can eat. Kid-friendliness: I have seen families in there and believe it is kid-friendly. Wheelchair accessibility: Ground level access for wheelchairs.
First time there. Excellent service, Excellent food ( I had the Braused Beef in Red wine sauce and it was fantastic), For these times fairly reasonable price. Will definitely go back.
We had an excellent dinner for two at this establishment. Even though it is primarily a seafood restaurant, there are plenty of other choices. I had the oysters and chips, they were both tasty and perfectly seasoned, while not being at all oily. This restaurant has a fun cocktail menu and good craft beer. Dietary restrictions: Gluten free options, vegetarian options and dairy free. Parking: Try the street first and then the parking lot 1/2 block up the road. Kid-friendliness: I have seen children here. Wheelchair accessibility: They have a ground floor entrance and a patio with a gate.
Good service, great food, fun night out. The salmon was perfect!
Amazing everytime I go.
Amazing place with even better people....
Some friends and I had come in to celebrate two birthdays during happy hour. Our table was one of two tables on the upper level of the restaurant. Our first server was attentive and kind, but had disappeared after our food order. We had later found out by manager because of personal reasons he had to leave (understandable.) our food arrives and two dishes are completely cold, another barely warm, and a wilted overdressed salad. The two cold dishes were reheated once we called someone over. the food runners had dropped the food off and left without asking us if we needed anything and without any forks at our table. After this 4/6 of our drinks we re running low or completely empty. You would think with such a slow afternoons we would have been paid more attention to. There was no quality check, and no top up of drinks whatsoever. After our meal nothing was cleared. I approached our new server and explained our bad experience whilst paying the bill in private to save the embarrassment of the server and keep the rest of my party out of it. While leaving the restaurant my party and I were bombarded by the manager in the middle of the stairs trying to fix our experience even though it was already done. In my opinion I think this restaurant would flourish with closer attention to detail, and management being able to fix problems immediately (discount off bill, or maybe approaching us before we left the table instead of stopping us and having a weird conversation in front of everyone.) Parking: Not much
Great place!
Really great service by Billie and Tasty food and drinks
Went here for dinner this evening. Good menu. Good wine list. Service was really good. Prices are the norm for these days. I had the scallops carbonara. Loved the flavour. The portion size was perfect. But . The dish was just warm when I received it. And . The scallops were over done and chewy. Couldn t finish it because it got cold quickly. But it tasted good.
Had the chicken and waffle for brunch. It used to be a real piece of chicken.....used to be a nice sized drum. This time it was a couple pieces of frozen chicken strips on half a waffle. I was not impressed. Especially since I told the server that yes I did want the hollandaise sauce and then didnt get it. A cup of coffee thats been around for a while for 4.50...I dont mind paying for a good cup of coffee...this was just bad coffee. We used to enjoy going to either location...not so sure now.
Just there with mother, great food, great atmosphere, super kind and attentive servers & great value for the quality! No complaints, will be coming again (no pictures, food was too good)
Stopped in on sunday afternoon food, service and drinks were all great. Cheers
We went for dinner with some friends. Everyone really enjoyed their food. Drinks were delicious as well.
Overall solid experience at Bow and Stern. Ive been a handful of times and all the food is decent. The Cajun chicken sandwich is excellent. The refills could have come a bit faster, but certainly nothing that is going to lower my rating.
the past dinning experiences has been excellent . however i complained about halibut being a little under cooked .. they quickly fixed it .. but our older server. stopped giving us service. this is the 2nd time this has happened with this lady my wife and I love eating there
Good food. Gf options and delicious!!
Smells like stinky old fry oil and the servers are rude.
