District Bar Restaurant Garrison in Chilliwack

To be fair, I only had the Tiramisu for an evening get-together, but it was very good Tiramisu. The service was very nice, helpful and kind.... but was it ever dark and loud in there. The first thing I did when I sat down was to check if the above table light fixture had a bulb in it... so dim, so dim!. I havent eaten there before this time since they changed names, but I dont know if Ill return... not the atmosphere I was looking for.

Food was terrible, very dry wings. Asked for rare steaks received well done, oily salad. Drinks were bland and service was not good server walked past our table multiple times while we were clearly done and waiting for our bill.

Unbelievable food! brisket Eggs Benny is the best I have ever tasted, exceptional customer service.. 10 out of freaking 10. Just what garrison needed!

I don t know why they have 4.6 stars. Must be the employees. The service was not great for a Wednesday at 5:00. The food was very subpar, I haven t found a since drink I like and I m not hard to please. Price was ok.

Its a great little place in the heart of Garrison. The fountains beside the patio give it great atmosphere. Ive the same server twice and she is awesome! I wish I could remember her name. The duck poutine needs more gravey but is a large portion. Loved the pickled blackberries in the salmon salad. Yummy! Definitely worth a visit! :)

This is exactly what Garrison needed. My hubby and I came there for date night as he heard about the Vancouver location. Were huge food critics and this was literally the best food weve have in Chilliwack. We had the Salmon TarTar to start, mouth watering and I could have had more. My hubby had the beef Rib and I had the Steak sandwich... Just wow. Thank you! Well be back! Definitely think these negative comments either have a tasteless pallet or just got there on an off day as we all have them, because this was an excellent experience

First time visiting after its rebranding: I m very satisfied! The staff were polite and cordial, the food was very tasty and filling (I got the Fun Guy veggie burger out of curiosity), and the atmosphere was very warm, modern and casual. Definitely a good first impression. Shout out to the new owners for keeping the old staff on-board!

The WORST new restaurant experience I & my family has ever had. Mediocre to horrible food and poor value. Im listing prices for both menu item cost (and with 12% GST and 15% gratuity (+27% total) included in brackets) so you can see the final cost & judge the value for yourself. Not what I expected from the Owner of both Earls & Frankies in Chilliwack which are both pretty good restaurants. I dont write this review lightly, I support good quality local family owned restaurants over drive thrus and franchises. However my Fathers Day dinner was a disaster from the start. We chose District, as the previous owner of Garrison Bistro was actually pretty good. The new (current) owner bought it a while ago, & the menu started going downhill, with weird new recipes that werent very palatable and high prices so we stopped going, even though my Mother lives very close locally, and theres no steak place south of Sardis. I hoped the new District was going to be a change for the better but its awful. Patio was full & restaurant was empty, so we asked the maitre d for a patio table & were seated in the restaurant. I thought the menu was a drink list it was so small, its basically a bar menu but priced like a high end restaurant. Only steak available was a chuck flatiron burger so I ordered it. A half hour later I asked again for a patio table and she said she forgot and it would be another 30 min wait. Drinks came about 25 min from arrival and my Old Fashioned was basically a shot of Fireball cinnamon whisky. Steamed Bao appy $16 ($20) came and I thought they delivered to the wrong table: two 3 diameter tiny steamed pancakes with a teaspoon of bbq pork in each & some pickled cabbage. We laughed as I ate it in 5 seconds, not worth $20, maybe $5. Our meal came after an hour wait and my sons weird ground chicken burger $21 ($27) patty was dipped in panko crumbs and burnt to charcoal, absolutely disgusting. I sent it back and they offered a burger which was just a bun with a patty, mayo, ketchup & a smear of carmelized onions with a tiny cup of french fries $20 ($26). Note: they want another $2 for a piece of cheese. My Butlers Steak Sandwich $29 ($38) was a half hot dog bun with a sliced piece of chuck steak (I asked for rare, it came well done) with just a smear of carmelized onions & some pickled onion, a few capers, and covered in an inch thick layer of arugula. I took it apart & asked where the blue cheese was, and was brought a side of blue cheese dressing, not real blue cheese. The cup sized caesar salad had dried niblets of smoked salmon hiding in the bottom. My Moms Fun Guy veggie burger $21 ($27) was mediocre too, and wifes Salmon salad $26 ($34) was nothing special. Without the free burger for my son and with only a 3 drinks purchased this would have been a $220 meal for 4. What a joke. For better pub food go to the Jolly Miller. For a Diamond Standard bar & grill experience go to Lous Grill in Abbotsford, where the Owner, Manager, Head Chef, Bartender and Maitre d all need to get in a car, go have lunch/dinner at Lous, copy their menu, observe what quality and timely service, bartending, cooking AND VALUE is all about. Improve their food quality & portion sizes to justify the ridiculous prices they charge for their food. And the Head Chef should be sent to Hells Kitchen so he checks the quality of the food BEFORE it is sent out. Hed be the first one sent home! Get rid of the panko crumbs and arugula on everything please, rip the current menu in half, return to NORMAL recipes, and get the fundamentals of cooking right before venturing out into the gastro pub weirdness... Ive worked at several steakhouses and never seen such poor quality food. YUCK. NEVER GOING BACK. JUST DONT GO, YOUVE BEEN WARNED!

Food and drinks were amazing. Great service and lovely atmosphere. Went with friends and we almost orderd the whole menue between us, I have no complaints. This side of town has been in desperate need of some good food/drinks. I can finally go out and not have to worry about driving home after. I had the BUTLERS STEAK SANDWICH as my main and it was super flavourful and filling.

Tried the Hangover burger, honestly one of the best burgers I ve had. The service was excellent and the atmosphere was great. Will definitely be back

I had the best salad and bowl of soup! The service was slow but worth the wait. The waitresses were super nice.

I ordered a bowl of the Thai Coconut Curry Soup with some crostini on the side and was extremely impressed with the depth of flavour and the attentiveness of the server. I have told everyone about the soup and will order it again. Just what I needed after a rainy walk at the river

Most of the food is made in house and fresh like their amazing Burgers. Theyve absolutely lucky to have such talented Chefs.

We were ripped off. Recently my wife and I ordered 2 bowls of soup to go. We often go for the soup or special of the day. What I got was 2 cups of soup. 2 tiny little take out containers. We were charged > $12 for each. Almost $30. I didnt see it until I got home. We were shocked at the little containers. We feel totally ripped off and dont feel like going back again. Definitely will never order take out again.

First time here. Had the bacon cheeseburger and salmon burger. Both were excellent. Cooked to perfection and tasted amazing. Staff were very friendly. Portions are good as well for the price. Pricing is on par with earls etc but smaller menu with better food imo. It s not a huge place but they also have a patio section. Would recommend. Parking: Not bad but if full out front other spots are available.

I had lunch today for the first time since new management. I had the Ancho Chicken Linguine. It was possibly the best dish Ive ever eaten. The waitress was exceptional and the cheesecake for dessert was amazing as well.

Had an amazing meal! We were seated by a very personable young man. The service was great our waitress Jordan was awesome and the food was great. Highly recommend the beef gnocchi, the burgers and the spicy mango margarita.

The food was unique which is good... But flavor was not great and everything was too salty.

Came here for lunch on a Sunday afternoon. Good selection, tasty food and lovely service.

We moved here 5 years ago and found this unique place that had everything great food love the Bistro Burger, my wife is GF and is able to ask for a special menu that actually has a nice assortment. We found out recently it has come under new management and were concerned things may change but we have been back a few times and you wouldnt know,( OK coffee changed unfortunately) and to our delight the servers the same young ladies. You want a quiet time out this the place.

A great local restaurant. Service is always great and the casual food is always fantastic. Some of the higher end dinner items arent always perfectly executed, but they are good. We prefer the bistro for their casual menu items (wings, burgers, sandwiches etc ) and we always have a good meal when we stick to those types of items. Not to say we havent enjoyed the other items as well, just not quite as much. Definitely a solid restaurant and well worth a visit. Nice little patio too.

Family of three arrived with reservations just before 7:00pm yesterday (Sunday the 6th of August) and was seated with four other tables on the patio at our request. Our server came over promptly to get a drink order which was filled and then took the dinner order. We were then left sitting there for 65 minutes waiting for an appetizer to come out only when we asked a different server if it was typically a 60 minute wait to get an appetizer did the appetizer arrive 5 minutes later with the explanation that the kitchen made the appetizer 30 minutes prior but no one knew where it was supposed to go so they threw it out! There were only 6 tables in the whole restaurant at the time and almost everyone else had food shouldn t have been too hard to figure out. What appears to have happened was our original server had her shift end just after we arrived and it is apparent than no hand off was done to the other servers or the manager. I only assume a manager was present as that person never introduced themselves or made any attempt to compensate us in anyway for their error. With the food merely adequate for the price and the response of management to an internal problem non existent I would never spend my money here again and advise others to look elsewhere for their next meal.

Tried for the first time. Ordered from the Happy Hour Menu(2.30-5.30). Got Arancini Balls, Bistro Flatbread, Truffle Fries with Stone Road White Wine(6oz). Frankly only flatbread was good and rest of it was all disappointing in taste. Ambeince is good, especially the patio. Its a 50-50 recommendation.

The arancini and calamari was good, however I was disappointed with my salmon entree. The menu said duck fat fingerling potatoes, I got baby yellow potatoes with no taste of duck fat. The confit tomatoes were just cherry tomatoes cut in half. The salmon was a little dry. The service was excellent and the atmosphere was casually nice. One note though...your hood vents need to be cleaned. From our seat I could see the grease on the vents.

Has been our go to place since moving here 5 years ago. The staff are professional and personable without being fake, starting with the cheerful Manger. Food always what was ordered, fresh, hot, and nicely displayed. Prices are actually great for what you recieve, never left hungry. In short great food,price,quality,and service. Vegetarian options: Actually comment about gluten-free choices great selection or my wife

Had takeout from here, Im hesitant to try new places as Id rather go somewhere I know wont disappoint, but due to circumstances I had to branch out and my expectations were exceeded. Very delicious. I had the arancini with herb aioli and salt & pepper chicken wings with jalapeño ranch dip.

Went for dinner with six people. 3 of our orders were messed up or had hair in them. The seats were all ripped up and dingy looking. Disappointing

Service was bang on . Absolutely zero complaints there . Put the salt and pepper on the table tho . Two of our lunches were pretty decent. One of them was too salty and another ridiculously stupid salty . Waitress was excellent but this place while it has potential needs to take some more attention to the flavour of its fare..

the quality of the food. Friends and ourselves have had many a meal at the Bistro, and none have been a disappointment to us. The meals that we tend to have our lunchtime meals. We have felt rushed to leave the premises. The servers have always been professional and friendly. Having to put up with power unruly crowd but with grace! We often choose our favorite dishes, which are always prepared within a reasonable period of time. We will continue to meet and enjoy each others company in an atmosphere of acceptance and good food! The best bartender ever!

We unfortunately had a very poor experience here. My wife and I ordered take out as a break (2 kids under 3). A came, picked up and brought the food back. They had forgotten my wifes entree so we called to let them know and I went back. There was no offer to refund any part of our meal, just a coupon to use on return for an appie. I was irked as I had tipped already, but was told that there was no one in the restaurant authorized to issue returns. I counted 5+ staff, and there wasnt anyone to correct an issue with a customer. I first picked up at 6pm, returned at 6:20. I would have imagined that during dinner hours, someone would be around for this. I was very disappointed with my food sitting at home and my wifes sitting at the restaurant. Anyways, we dont intend to go back. The food is good but the experience soured this restaurant for us.

Went for Mothers Day and the restaurant was decently busy. Our server was great and we got our drinks quickly. There was 5 of us having lunch and was excited to try a new place. We ordered our food and it took 45 to 55 minutes for the food to come to our table and it didnt come with a similar time frame. We had half of our table get their food and be half through finishing their meal before the other half got their dish. The food when it came out was delicious and if it didnt take as long as it did it would of been a 5 Star experience. We will go and try this place again but hopefully get the meal within a timely fashion.

Today was our first time at a restaurant since moving to Chilliwack almost two years ago. We re overly cautious because of elderly immune compromised family members, but figured it was time to venture out again. Sat on the patio - food and drinks were great as was the service. The place has a great energy to it. Really happy to support local businesses and looking forward to the next visit

What an interesting spot in Chilliwacks Garrison Village. Parking was easy, our reserved table was ready. Service was timely and quite professional while being very friendly. There were six of us in our Party and we all agree that the food selections were interesting with enough variety for everyone to choose from. My friend and I enjoyed the Short Ribs very much - they were so tender you did not need a knife to eat them! The Yorkshire that came with the dish was huge. Our friends also enjoyed other selections very much. We highly recommend this Bistro for an enjoyable dining experience.

We got into town , asked for a 14 person reso, they not only accommodated us but the food was great, nice space, and friendly staff. Feels good when you dont know the city. Thank you.

We had a party of 20 and all the food was excellent. I had the ceasar salad and the prawn curry. Both dishes were some of the best I have had. The ribs, mussels, burgers, and pasta looked spectacular and my friends confirmed that they were all delicious. The service was excellent and I was amazed at how well they did in getting all the food out at the same time.

Expensive restaurant with just mediocre food. Sauce was cold on the meal. Chicken super salty. Wings were good but I asked for ranch & it came with some weird sauce instead. Dessert was a weird texture & pasty.. (brownie). Drinks were the best part @ $12 a drink. Won t return here & im very surprised with all the good reviews.. I m wondering if it s the owners family and friends writing good reviews.?!??

Such a classy bistro with a good variety of menu items. Very good service, and a very clean place with covid protocols being followed. Now on to the best part, the food was amazing. Had the BLTCA sandwich with Bistro greens and it was quite possibly the best sandwich Ive ever had! Thanks for serving fresh ingredients that were put together fantastically! The patio atmosphere was super comfortable and warm since they have heaters. Our waitress Lori was helpful and attentive but not over bearing. A wonderful evening out that I highly recommend especially if the rest of their menu tastes as good as that sandwich and I have a feeling it does. Thanks chef!

Never had a worse salad in my life! Usually I never have any complains when I visit Garrison Bistro. The food is great as well as Service. Today I ordered a salad for take out and it was horrible! I paid 18$ for a few mixed salad leaves two half piece cherry tomatoes a few crumbles of blue cheese, half a pear and a lot of sunflower seeds. My 2 year old granddaughter could have done a better job. That is so sad

My husband and I went there for dinner and we got a very nice table outside. The waitress was professional and attentive. We felt comfortable and the food was delicious. Popped over to the Garrison Bistro tonight for dinner, was totally ignored by the staff that were busy cleaning bottles at the bar, no one bothered to greet us after 4 minutes, so we left disappointed, had a great experience the first visit. Pretty sad follow up....sorry.

Taking into account the difficulty of restaurants during this Pandemic, I give this place a poor 3. The place was not excessively busy when I attended. I ve been here twice while visiting and my experience has been similar both times. On this occasion, I sat done and ordered a drink from the obviously busy waitress and soon after I placed my food order. I watched a couple across from me who sat down 15 minutes later, ordered, received their food and finished before my pasta dish showed up an hour later. I asked for a popular dish and was recommended the Fettuccine. The dish was mediocre. An odd mixture of cubbed pieces of Brie tossed in the Paprika coated chicken breast and bell peppers. Sorry guys, you ve got some work to do.

Service was terrible. They had 1 waitress running around for the patio and inside dining. Our steak arrived but wasnt cooked as requested. Our waitress didnt come back to check on us so we waited for over 15 min then I had to go looking for her but found another worker and asked her if someone can come and take our steaks back. The waitress was too busy and never came to check how the food was or refill drinks. The food was good but the service was awful. They had 2 other ladies wiping down cups and 1 host, all the while 1 waitress ran around waitressing. We sat there for just over an hour and left feeling disappointed.

Great hot dogs on in house made buns. I had the cheese and bacon and my wife had the French onion topping. Great ice cream too!

The food was very good and the waitress and hostess were also very friendly and professional. However, we ordered an item listed a specific price on the brunch menu but a different (higher) price on the main menu. We ordered the item (during brunch hours) and we were told after we received our bill that we would be charged the higher price as the brunch menu price was a mistake. The waitress attempted to remedy this issue by offering a coupon but we were not locals therefore the coupon was not appropriate. We were told that the price cannot but adjusted without management approval and no managers were present. I requested the managers contact and after a day of waiting, I did not receive a response from the manager regarding this poor experience.

Friendly and neat. I thought it would be very expensive, but there was some food that was cheaper than I thought. And the hot dogs and ice cream I bought outside were so delicious that I wanted to eat them again.

Too bad that the hosts and servers have suddenly stopped wearing masks . It was a great place to have lunch /drink in this area but today I was surprised to see this business to disregard the health and safety recommendations.

Sirloin steak is served exactly how you order it, great atmosphere, friendly staff. Local brews available. Awesome.

The best beef short rib (off the bone) Ive ever had. More than ample serving for myself; a big eater. Tender almost to the point of cut it with a fork. The Yorkshire was crispy delicious. Gotta get back here.

Decent burger, good service
