Amazing authentic smoked meats!

Corn breads awesome, whole families fighting for another piece. First time here a month ago the brisket was amazing, second time and it is still amazing. Great taste and texture Now ive taken a chance on the ribs! Same great texture ive come to expect from this place now but whooooooo the salt, wayy tooooo much for my tastes. **Im a canadian born Jamaican** so im not used to bbq food but god damn it was S-alty didnt stop me from leaving a plate of bones though, ease up on the salt yorkie (didnt have this same issue with the brisket tho)

Sooo good will definitely be coming back up from Peterborough for this!! The chicken is SO crispy and juicy, best fried chicken I ve ever had.

My go to take-out spot for some good bbq and fried chicken in the Cobourg area. Theyre always busy, but its always worth the wait. Ive tried more than half their menu over the years, but my favourite items for recommendation would always be the brisket sandwich and fried chicken.

Honestly expected to much more from this place and what I read and heard from the locals. Recently moved to Cobourg and had been meaning to try yorkies for some time. Finally got around to heading over and getting some food, yeah the place smells amazing when you walk in but be prepared to wait a long time. 2 other people who had already ordered and I m standing at the cash for a solid 10 minutes with the employees just looking at me, no care in the world. But I endure as iv heard really good things, took another 30 minutes to get my food. Again it s not remotely busy. Get it home and yeah the fries are pretty darn good, but that s it. Chickens dry as hell and freaking sharp!! The battery literally cut up mine and my wife s gums on our first bite, to the point we can taste blood. Eating shouldn t hurt the hell you guys put in the batter? Glass?? I sure as heck won t be going back to this place

We happened to come across this by getting lost, and we were so happy. Fast service and amazingly great food. We loved it, better than any barbecue we ever had anywhere! We stop every time we pass the area. We come of the 401 on our way to Ottawa or Montreal and on our way back home again, or even just tto Brighton, where we store our trailer. We cant find this kind of food back in Toronto. Keep up the Great Job of making the BEST BBQ we have ever tasted. We no longer have to worry about missing the Ribfest because your food is 10 times better! We have tried everything and never been disappointed!

I didnt go get the dogs so cant really judge service and atmosphere by this was my first time and had the chicken bacon wrap and poutine. Its was delicious. I will be back.

I drive from Toronto to Yorkie s for their delicious menu items. Had their beef brisket sandwich and cornbread, I give it a 10/10 stars.

Some of the BEST BBQ we ve ever had, even the baked beans were so different, can t say we ve had anything like it! We couldn t be happier that Yorkie s is just a 5 min drive from our house. We can t wait to come back!! Parking: There s a good number of spots. Depending on time, you may not find one.

Best brisket!

The food is pretty decent. We got the beef brisket poutine which is a bit too salty, a burger and hotdog which were fine.

Only ordered fries but waited over 20 minutes. Food in the past was good Food

The ribs and pulled pork are amazing. By all accounts the food is absolutely worth going to Yorkies and you wont be disappointed. One thing to note however, which was disappointing. They have no functioning washroom so if you need to go or you have to wash your hands after eating ribs, youll have to drive somewhere to do that.

Burger was supposed to come with onions and pickles. Np onions or pickles or lettuce. Very greasy. Fries under cooked and greasy. So disappointed.

Food is good. But wait time is crazy. 45 minute wait time if not longer. If you call ahead its still 30 minutes after its supposed to be ready... not worth the wait

Best beef brisket I have ever had! Wow!

Eight of us stopped in there yesterday around 2:30 in the afternoon coming back from Dover. Four got their food within 20 minutes. The other four had to wait close to 48 minutes. Wasnt that busy? I dont know what the issue was. Will not happen again cuz we wont be back

We grabbed food here on a road trip from Toronto to Ottawa. It was so good we got some on the way back, too. The fried chicken and ribs are the best items on the menu!

Great stop for a quick bite! We had the platter to sample ..Ribs delish..fried chicken and bbq cooked to perfection. Now sides..Beans.. too sweet and not enough beans..the coleslaw was interesting with the pineapple ..The CORNBREAD ..order two.. Overall will come back. SUPPORT LOCAL...FORGET THE CHAINS!

Best food stop from Toronto to Ottawa on the 401

I have been going to this place for a few years now and nothing but the best from this place. Food staff the BEST

Went for our first time on a Friday. Although it was a long wait, it was worth it. Got the Friday special. Pulled pork on a bun and fries for $9. Just perfect portions, and tasted terrific. We will be back for sure.

Good food for sure and reasonably priced BUT it is terribly slow getting orders out of the kitchen. UPDATE July 31 - new owners but nothing has changed - called in an order 4pm for 5:30 (I know its busy that is why it was called in) they said no problem. Arrived for pick up at 5:30, was after 6 before we had it and they forgot the family size coleslaw. Fried chicken was amazing!!!!!

The brisket is delicious as is the coleslaw and fried chicken. Grab a milk shake and enjoy the sunshine. Kid-friendliness: Space to run around behind the building on grass lot.

Yorkie s is the best BBQ stop along the 401! Burgers, ribs, chicken, pork, brisket are all great. Price has increased a little bit, to be expected in this climate we are in, but not as much as other establishments. It s still pretty affordable especially with the convenience of a 2 minute drive away from the highway ramp. There s limited seating area, wish they would put more bar-style seating on the side to accommodate customers.

Tasty and reasonably priced

We ordered by text and received confirmation. The food took 50 mins to be ready. Keep in mind that there were only a few waiting when we arrived for pick up. It shouldnt take over 50 minutes to prepare 2 sausages. Plus, when we finally received our food, the order was incorrect as there was 1 food missing. Never again. Skip this place unless youre looking to waste your time waiting for your food to be ready.

As much as I would like to share my experience, I cant. Got there at 6h30pm for diner and they refused to take my order as they said they were closed. Sign was says 7pm. Uncourteous and unprofessional. Ps: it was a takeout.

This is the first time we have been here. We will definitely be back. We had the pulled pork sandwich with the onion rings as well as the breaded chicken sandwich and fries. Everything was delicious and so fresh. The prices are great as well, cheaper than going to a fast food joint that s for sure and way better food. So i ordered a few things. Spent $45.00 on checking them out. So , the beef brisket was really bad. It hade no flavour at all besides a greasy taste. It also hade white chewy fat on it. It was just a bun with really bad meat on it. I would not spend your money on this. There wasn t even bbq sauce on it. Second the southern friend chicken was really bad, also hade no taste to it. No hot sauce in the batter. Hell they didn t even give me hot sauce for the chicken. 3. The poutine was the saving grace of this whole meal, along with the onion rings. Which also needed salt and pepper. The coleslaw was gross. Like this is not southern fried food. More less catering old white people that don t have taste buds and cannot eat Spicy food. If you go here just buy a poutine and a hot dog save yourself money and a tasteless experience of non southern fried chicken and a poor excuse of beef brisket. I honestly want my money back .

Had the 3 piece fried chicken. Really nice size pieces and absolutely delicious. Way better than the other guys chicken. Cant for the life of me figure out why it was 6 years between visits!

Self service, self seating (picnic tables next to a car park ) walk up to a takeout window. Pleasant atmosphere. IMO the average wait time is too long for the type of food thats being served

Best pulled pork sandwich in town! Honestly the best BBQ in town in general! So good in fact Im hoping to have them cater my wedding. Nice outdoor seating with shade provided by umbrellas, because they mostly do take out Ive never has issues finding a parking spot. Waited less than 5 minutes for my food to be ready and is consistently good every time Ive been. Highly recommend!

This bbq honestly deserves more than 5 stars. I am also a fan of the massive pig on the sign out front. Always make a stop when Im out this way. Great milkshakes and fries too.

Place has gone down hill, side portions have gotten way smaller, prices have skyrocked, wait times are horid. Orders are incorect missing items. ( has happened on more than one occasion) You would think that when theres a line up you would start cooking in bulk to get the customers in and out in a reasonable time not what seems like one order at a time . Used to be a great place for food. Cant understand how this place is still in buisness.

Coming from long haul trucking, I miss running the deep south basically for the barbecue!! I have now found in Ontario. I strongly recommend this piece of heaven to anyone who is traveling through coburg and has time for a stellar lunch!

Always in the area and we have eaten at smokehouses across N America. Thought wed check it out. The wait is a bit much I think 25 mins today. Buns are very nice. Poutine is above board, real curds lots of gravy. Get that again. My wife had the pulled pork and I the brisket. Meat to bun ratio is a little low. Quality is excellent. Maybe not as smoked as I like it. Pulled was very saucy so that was the forward taste. Brisket was good quality just not enough of it and for me I like a mesquite or hickory smoke. But again. Just fine. No real complaint just preference.

Love the food here but I dont understand why they seem to always run out of food 30-45 minutes before they close. Went at 6:30 tonight and was told were out of everything. Im very doubtful that they ran out of potatoes. More like they were too lazy to make more.

Edit: new ownership, this place is a 3 stars at best. Very unfortunate, the loss in quality is very obvious... Wait times are up, service is unpleasant, always running out of food... Sucks. Love the ribs. Chicken is also very good. Some of the best French fries around. This place is always packed every time I go, thats telling.

I know it s a busy day but my husband came at 2:00 to place his order for pick up at 4:45pm. When he got there at 4:40 he was told to wait and they would tell him when it was ready it s 5:30 and he is still waiting. What was the point of accepting a pre order. Someone we saw place their order has already got their food and left - outrageous

We ordered a massive order for a work lunch. The order was placed in the manner specified (text) the day before for a specific pickup time. Yes, we did cancel two meals in the morning, but that was the only change made. The order was not ready on time, was missing half the orders, and when we went back - they tried to charge us the full amount again - they argued and said we were wrong. Do not recommend.

My wife and I have been driving by this place for years and finally decided to stop and give it a try yesterday. Saw they advertised a 9 dollar brisket poutine on the sign outside so we decided to try that with their coleslaw. I ll start by saying I really wish we had stopped sooner. That poutine was probably the best I ve had within a reasonable driving distance to Toronto. In fact I don t think I ve had better outside Montreal it was that good. The brisket had all kinds of flavours and was absolutely tender and delicious. The gravy was just as good and flavourful. The fries were also a good fry for a poutine and held up well. Solid 9.5/10 for that poutine. I was gushing about it the rest of the day. The coleslaw was not as good as I was hoping but it was decent enough. Found it to be a little bland. Maybe some vinegar of some type or a sharper mayo taste would help it but I m not going to complain too much as it was good enough. 6/10 for the coleslaw. All in all I ll most definitely be back. I m actually trying to resist making the drive back out today but I ll be back. You should most definitely stop if you re hungry and approaching this place.

Just got food from yorkies, took just over an hour to receive our food. We ordered 1 large poutine, 1 small poutine, and a hotdog. The hotdog was absolutely disgusting had 2 bites and my dog finished it. There was a skin on it which made it extremely difficult to chew. Who puts whole slices of tomatoes and onions on hotdogs they should be chopped. Will not recommend nor will I be returning very disappointed.

Fresh, hearty. Short waiting time 30 min. But for fresh produce and portions its worth it. Very nice staff too. Accessible roadside. Just no soap in the toilets.

All be it under new management the food is still amazing!!! Great smoked meats! the food never disappoints. If the new owners wish to maintain the status quo then they need to improve on food delivery and timing. The text to order service which they implemented is all but not existent and just adds frustration to placing an order and they often run out of food. I really hope this gets sorted out soon as this lack of attention to the little things could come back on them negatively. All in all they still deliver great food! It is well worth the experience, at least once. You can decide whether it is worth the wait or not:)

Regular local customer. I had a pricing problem (April 18, 2024) . Neon Road sign advertised during the day Ribs Full Rack on special for $21. When I ordered they charged me regular price. I inquired and was corrected. Turns out the Neon Road sign was having technical issues and was since corrected. I have since communicated and rectified with Yorkies. Thank you for quick responding to my concerns. Make note their food is Fantastic. I still do reccomend!

Right off the 401 don t miss trying Yorkies BBQ. Cobourg ON. We were hoping to find something other then the regular fast food because we had our puppy with us choice s are limited but so happy we found this place on our travels. I had the BBQ Brisket sandwich and my husband had the smoked chicken sandwich portions were decent, fries and gravy. Everything gets a 5 . Added bonus we were able to bring our puppy on their enclosed patio and eat at a table!!! :)

Well worth the drive time.

First time trying their BBQ whole chicken! They cut it up into 10 pieces and it was so moist and so delicious, and a great compliment to our meal.

One of the best cornbreads ive ever had. Its not cheap, but the taste and quality, as well as the friendly service, made it well worth it.

Love this place! Just north of the 401 off hwy 45 in Cobourg. Portions are great! Food is amazing. No dine in experience- either take out or picnic tables / outdoor dining is the option. My go to is their burger and fries or onion rings, depending on what I feel like. They definately have many different bbq food choices if not feeling like a burger.

Awesome place for lunch. Just off 401. Clean and super organized staff. Food was excellent. We had carved Turkey club and brisket on a Kaiser. Both delicious! Will definitely go back. Cant beat the prices either.

We have been going to Yorkies since it first opened. Unfortunately, since the sale , prices have increased dramatically, $3.00 for a slice of Bacon in a Burger? Really? Quality is up and down, portions are definitely shrinking as well. I hope the owners arrest the decline before its too late. Parking: Always been a problem

First time here today, had chicken, ribs, fries and cornbread. Fries were still hot after a 1/2 hr drive home and were amazing. The ribs were cooked perfectly, had incredible flavour, and didnt last at our house. Everything was great and well make this one of our stops when were travelling through the Cobour area.

Our go to place for ribs! Everything they make is amazing, but I really love the ribs! Fall off the bone deliciousness! Staff is always friendly & helpful.

Five stars for the food, one star for the constant pandemonium and wait in the kitchen. They seem to do the orders totally random so it doesn t matter if you call in advance or anything, you re gonna wait for like 45 minutes. Someone should open a place across the street!

Our 1st time there today, was an incredible experience. The meals were fresh, hot and absolutely delicious. Its safe to say, we have a new favourite BBQ place in the Cobourg/Baltimore area.

I ordered the full family BBQ chicken meal. They didnt have any coleslaw so the cashier suggested baked beans. The chicken was very bland. It had very little BBQ sauce and no seasoning. The baked beans were very sweet. They tasted like beans with BULLEYE BBQ sauce. We got a container full of fries. They need to season the chicken and apply a generous amount of BBQ sauce. The baked beans are awful. They need to find better baked beans more like home baked beans. They have to ensure that they have more than enough supply of coleslaw as well. A better idea other than a container of fries would be that half of the container be filled with coleslaw and the other half with fries. Having paper plates for their customers would also be a good idea instead of using the thin paper napkins. We were very disappointed and we will not be stopping off there back from the cottage on our way home. You never know until you give it a try. We did and we will not be going back there again.

Find me a place this far east of the GTA that does bbq better. Great food and the customer service has always been great. A must try when traveling through the area on the 401.

This is a classic road-side BBQ joint. Stopped for lunch with the family on our way through and we were glad we did. The brisket was tasty, as were the sandwiches and fried chicken. Fries were great too. We all left with full and happy bellies.

We visited a little while ago and still this place runs through my mind every so often,the food is excellent,the staff is excellent and the selection and price is second to none. I just visited another barbeque spot in Keene and let me just say that spot which I will not name is absolute garbage,I left a review and the owners response was as tasteless as the food. The owner and staff at Yorkies are a class in their own, the owners response to negative reviews shows that they care about their customers and also about the quality of food they put out, cant say enough good things about this place. Definitely will be making another visit before summer is over.

Just left Yorkies and going back to Toronto. Food is Its fresh, well seasoned, and savoury! Service - theres a bit of a wait coz they cook everything fresh, but its worth the side trip. The guy who served us is friendly, accommodating, and welcoming. Amazing job to the staff! The people we met at the store are also friendly. One thing though, I think you should open a store in Toronto! Well be the first to line up for sure! Were now a fan! Were coming back and bringing our family whos visiting from the US to try Yorkies! Excellent service, good food the atmosphere was a little noisy as they are located along side of hwy 45 and it is a take out stop. You can eat outside on picnic tables but the highway noise is loud.

Not impressed with the impersonal text Your order in I placed my order at 4 PM to pick up at 6 it was not very busy at the time I placed my order there was no real reason the phone couldn t be answered when not busy ..after getting here at 6pm to find out they never got the order because their internet was not working. Not my problem If the Internet isn t working, answer the phones . I appreciate the owner apologizing, but that doesn t lessen my wait after working all day

My experience at Yorkies is always enjoyable. The food is always great and the service is friendly and the food is prepared fresh and in a timely manner. I do not really like the texting order procedure because if the Internet is glitching orders don t always go through. I like a more personal phone order when possible. The owner is very accommodating and apologetic if something is wrong.

Great homemade food, well prepared. Great place to stop for a quick bite. Our small dog was allowed on their patio, which was very nice of them.

We visit Yorkies all the time for the 9pc southern fried chicken family special. Food is always 10/10 fresh, juicy chicken and their fries are the best! Staff is always super friendly and overall it s always an amazing experience! I will continue to recommend this place!

I ordered the 3 piece chicken with fries and a praline milkshake. The food was delicious and fresh, which is probably why my order took a while, but it was worth it.

Good BBQ and good size portions. The Yorkie burger is a must try as well.

Terrible food. Fries....greasy and way too much salt. Ribs. Overcooked and dry. Over priced for the quality. Save your money.

Usually the drive is worth it but not yesterday, waited forever which is fine but unusually long and then the 3 piece white turned into a 2 piece white 1 dark because they ran out of white meat, what? And it was burnt. Now onto the salad, I dont mind paying for a salad however 13.99 for chicken caesar salad, it was a side salad as far as I was concerned and the chicken was nothing more then no name mussy chicken fingers cut up, it was disgusting. I expected a REAL piece of chicken and the salad to be much bigger for the price. My hubby and I have a list and im afraid Yorkies might be making that list, btw not a good list to be on.

tried on friend s recommendation and not disappointed at all. had brisket, meat was tender and fresh with full of flavours. Also tried fried chicken and honestly it was way better than big franchises.meat was juicy and soft. Driving 45 minutes was worth it.

My favorite place eat! Grabbed a couple pulled pork sandwiches & a briskets wrap, all were amazing as always! Best place around Northumberland to eat, YORKIES will not disappoint your taste buds, youll want to make return visit soon! Parking: 2pm the lot was empty pulling in we beat the rush cuz 5 mins. later the lot started filling up with 3 cars while we waited on our order! Kid-friendliness: The granddaughter luvs Yorkies fries! Wheelchair accessibility: Total wheelchair accessible they even closed their outdoor seating area off so you can still dine outside & stay pretty warm!

I was told a lot of good things about this place. I got the large Brisket Poutine. It was good but I will try something else next time.

They closed early, which sucks. Voice Mail leave your order, and said open until 7. Wasnt true. Ordered food. I guess they locked up early and didnt bother to see if they had orders on voice mail

all the meat is beyond mediocre. ribs are weirdly salty, chicken has been dry every time i ve ordered it and the pulled pork is drenched. getting crispy fries and good customer service is super rare. i ordered online so i would not have to waiting 20 mins for my food but waited longer than people who came in and ordered. when i got home the chicken was cold and the ribs were practically just flat pieces of fat. not testing my luck again with this place
