We order for pick up. Never had a problem. Always hot and delicious.

Never open half the time

Decent food but I found a clump of dust in my food dont know how it got there but definitely ruined the rest of the meal.

By far the worst food I have ever had and I will literally eat anything! The pork taste like fish soap and the rice is no different then playdough. I actually can t consume this garbage, I wouldn t even feed my dog this dish. Not to mention only 2 small pieces of beef in the beef and vegetables.

Please deliver to the correct house next time. Check the number of the house and follow the instructions - and then make sure the photo you include has the number visible on it so I know which wrong house youve dropped my food at, at least. That way I dont have to walk up and down the street guessing.

Food is really good here. Unfortunately the owner doesn t have enough pride apparently to clean the place. Can t bring myself to ever eat here again. Doesn t appear that the floor has been cleaned in years. Easily the dirtiest restaurant in Cobourg that I ve ever seen

Disappointed. Have had five star several times and it seems to be going more and more downhill. Tonight we spent about $110 on our order. When we got it home it was missing part of our order and the food was luke warm at best. We always order and pick up. When I get there I m astounded that the same fish tank that has been dirty for the past year and a half is still there. Not many Chinese places in Cobourg and this one used to be one of the best. Unfortunate.

I hate to give any restsurant a bad review but sadly this is. Havent had take out food from Five Star since before the covid outbreak in 2020. Had a craving whole at No Frills, so ordered in store and waited. Drove straight home, opened up the lids and the colour was very bland. The temperature was warm. The overall taste was bland. Spring rolls were grease saturated, and tasted like the fat/oil had not been changed in a very long time. The spicy noodle dish had no taste. How can you mess up chicken fried rice? They did! Plus they forgot to add chicken or veggies. We gave them a 2nd chance but never again! 50$ wasted

Food was cold. Sauce was requested on the side in a Combo because of Dietary restrictions.. The cook refused destroying the Beef and Broccoli because it was contaminated with the sauce making the majority of the dish inedible. When we called back to have it replaced they refused saying it was not possible because 2 other clients had complained when it wasnt put on the sweet and sour pork. I am not the 2 other clients. I am the client who specifically requested no sauce or on the side!!!

Was a great experience. Took my clients there today for dinner while on an outing! Great service, friendly and helpful.

Terrible. Worst ever. Serving food that s obviously sat long enough to go bad. Ordered rice with tough leathery pork and General Tsao chicken that had gone bad but was served anyway. 3 bites and $43.00 of food tossed in the garbage. Really, stay away. I m lucky I didn t get sick.

Food is great. Prices have jumped quite a bit though since I started last year and seem to get less portion. but 6/7 times I went I was missing an item. Usually rice with a dish, or spring rolls. chicken wings once. I always have to double check and get attitude when I do so or ask if it s all there. They also advertise bigger portions for certain family dinners and only got the normals.

just move to Cobourg in Dec 2022 tried the food -was pretty good tasty- at lot of food --not from a steam table--freshly prepared --better than the other place we tried

This restaurant is not great, unfortunately. We came here for the first time a year ago. The food quantity was fine, but the food quality, not. We vowed never to return. Today, we decided to give it another try. Mistake. The boy at the register was brand new( he admitted) and couldn t seem to get order straight. We spent $75 and when we looked in bag there was no hoisin sauce for the dumplings. I politely asked for some. I was told that the sauce was $2! The fried rice was saffron yellow and awful ( how do you mess up fried rice?! This time we will stick to boycotting this place.

Order delivery 3 weeks ago... all of a sudden they dont do delivery anymore apparently. Dont count on them.

Very dirty place, I asked for tge bathroom key to wash my hands and almost got sick to my stomach. Also tge food was not even good, they had lots of broccolli but no other vegetables becaise my shrimp dish had only onions and broccolli, a different dish for my husband was the same. Fir $30 take out, no even a small portion of rice was included

Awful!! The food didnt taste good. It seems not fresh. The beef was disgusting. 60 dollars direct to garbage. Extremely disappointed. Dont waste your money!!!

Beef fried rice tasted like corn starch .. and there was hardly any meat in it. Garlic vegetables didn t taste very good either. Service was relatively friendly . But I hope they improve their food quality.

I been here several times usually a pretty good experience. Tonight... Not so much. Rice is tasteless and the lo mein is worse. This will be my last visit to Five Star...... Really should be called ONE STAR

I was supposed to pick up at 5:30. I arrived at 5:25 and it was already sitting on the counter. Got it home and most items were barely warm. Also, clean the fish tank. It s gross. Food : 3/5

Two months ago we told ourselves we would never go back. Tonight we gave them another chance and I totally regret my decision. The complete order didnt taste fresh, portions were small and had the general appears of a microwaved or reheated. Too expensive and poor quality. Not again!

The Port Hope location provides larger portions and better food for less. I only went here as the port Hope location is closed on Mondays. It is worth the drive to Port Hope for a better experience.

SICKENING I ordered this for New Year s Eve. I would have been better off eating dirt. Everything was soggy, sesame chicken was like eating soggy chicken covered in snot. Order was inaccurate and to top it all off I had to stand outside for an hour past my scheduled pick up time to get it. Five star, haha try one star. HORRIBLE

One Star Chinese Restaurant. Terrible experience. Owner was rude and the food was undercooked. Chicken in the General Tso was pink and almost liquidy on the inside. The wontons tasted so rotten we all had to spit it out....couldnt even chew through it. The noodles (that I was charged an extra $3 for as an upgrade when we wanted to substitute that for the beef and broccoli) were crunchy and still stuck together as if the noodles hadnt even fully boiled before they drowned them in a terrible gravy-like sauce. The whole experience was terrible. One Star Chinese Restaurant.

Love the braised tofu dish

We were hesitant to order from here based on some negative reviews however we decided to give it a try and were pleasantly surprised. We got huge portions, food was hot and fresh. Meat quality was actually pretty good. We ordered combo platters that included sesame chicken, sweet and sour chicken, beef with vegetables, chicken fried rice, chow mein and spring rolls. Would definitely order again. The guy at the front counter who we dealt with was nice and friendly, no complaints there.

We recently ordered a few dishes from here with no expectations and having not read any reviews. The food was really really good. Food was hot, flavorful and loaded with meat in each dish. This will definitely be our go to place to eat Asian food. Great service.

Everything was very fresh, delicious, portions where large and delivered 20 min sooner than expected. Thank you for the great service.

I went today, the lunch menu said 7.99 which included an egg roll. I walked out paying $14.99 for the same meal. Egg roll is now extra. To be fair, I paid an extra $1 to switch from rice to noodles but even $13 for the same meal was ridiculous. Owner said it was because of the price of oil. So imagine how unimpressed I was to get home and find a table spoon of oil at the bottom of my egg roll bag. The rest of the meal was NOT impressive. Wont be returning, better quality food elsewhere for that price.

This place has excellent Chinese and Thai food. Im not crazy out the rice, but every item I ordered from Chicken balls, Beef and Broccoli to Pad Thai was fantastic. Parking: Lots of parking for pick ups.

They used to be good, but we had a really bad experience with them today. I made a pretty big order, they told me it would be a little over an hour. Ended up being over an hour and a half so I was waiting nearly half an hour after getting there to pick up. Then my noodles were half cooked. When I called to complain, the girl told me it was supposed to be that way, which is not true because I order that dish frequently and its never like that.

Waste of Money and Time!! They are not the same! I was in there today for take out and got home to find out there is barely any noodles in the Cantonese Chow Mien! They were rude when I told them and they said it has always been the same, this is lie! I spent $70 and there was other issues! This is not worth your money for time!!!!!!!

Really disappointed I just left with a 117$ order. Paid $13.25 for an order of chicken balls and didn t get any sweet and sour sauce , who eats chicken balls without the sweet and sour sauce . Called to complain and they didn t seem to care. From now on I ll take my 100 dollar orders to wok and roll down the road

This place is a joke I went with my gf to pick up an order that her family had orderd they already had waited an hour and a half and was told another half hour so we decided to go get it we ended up getting 15$ off the price but the lady was very rude and we had to fight to get that 15$ off if we didn t pick it up we would of had to wait 2 hours for our order who does that ? And the place was event busy and our order was sitting there and the food was cold when we got home .

They barely can understand English . Everytime I order from there they either charged me for the wrong thing or messed up both combination dinners and fought with me saying they were fixing it and or going to make ot right. Which I went straight to the restaurant and delt with then in person. What every happened to the customers always right. Terrible customer service here

The food here is excellent, always. The service is great too, very polite and friendly.. Honestly this is my favourite Chinese food place to eat from here in Cobourg. Always delicious and hot food, Im always impressed! You should give them a go!!

I quite like the food, and the portion sizes are quite good. Fairly popular place in town so it can get busy some nights, particularly Fridays. I know the restaurant is called five star, but it falls short of that score. Mostly do to the rude customer service. I feel like I m doing the guy a disservice by ordering at his restaurant. If it wasn t for the tasty food I d give 1 star.

They messed up my order we called to try to make it right then proceed to tell me I didnt ask for what I did(I have them a paper of what I wanted) first said I only wrote out 2 substitute then I told them to look at paper and then told me I never gave them paper...

Had the general tao, Mongolian beef and fired rice. Was delicious and great value. 100x better then Wok & Roll just down the street.

Decent food and quick service but know this, as this is a franchise the taste varies significantly from store to store. For example, the five star in Port Hope is better tasting than the Cobourg store for some reason. As a result I end up driving to Port Hope:) I would rate Port Hope at a 4.5 and Cobourg at a 3.5 which is why I rated it a 4 overall. Cheers,

Ordered many times and really enjoy it! Usually order items like general tso chicken, ginger beef, kung pow chicken, pepper beef, chicken chow mein, chicken chop suey, egg rolls. Great flavours and some of the chicken dishes arent breaded like alot of other places - which is a good thing to me! Will continue to order from here.

You can go for a try, may not regrate.

The food didnt seem fresh and I found it pricier than comparable restaurants. For these reasons, but taste & freshness being more important, I prefer Wok & Roll.

Hello We are local to Cobourg and wanted to support a Local Business . We have ordered many times from Five Star same order; Black Pepper Chicken, fried dumplimgs and General Tsao chicken. We then kindly asked, instead of rice that comes with the order free can we have the thin noodles instead and the Owner then just chargers us extra for the upgrade. However, this simple request is denied and the Five Star looses Business from local resident. One staff member says they are not busy because I thought * OK too busy for substiturions * but then the Owner contradicts and he says they are too busy. I chose not to order food and found this to be poor customer service.

Food looks good just got takeout on way through town stopped at a park to eat it and no utensils or serviettes were provided. Will have to eat an hour from now when we get home. Did not want to wait that long whole point in stopping.

Excellent, fresh food, my husband hated Chinese food but found this very tasty and says he will eat from this place on Division street Cobourg again. Keep up the excellent presentation . Only thing fried rice not enough vegetables.

Have been picking up here for a few years, was always the best. What happened. Tonight took the food home, no sauce for chicken balls, no soya sauce. Waited 25 mins for them after ordering, only a 5 minute drive and the food was cold. So disappointing. Why?

Owner is extremely rude. Food is sub-par to other Chinese places in town. Save some $ and go to 1-2-3 Chinese dowb on King St. Way better food and prices.

Tried a few places while I was in the area for a week and this one quickly became my everyday go to. Enormous portions, friendly drivers and quality food, definitely recommend.

Dreadful service, after ordering by phone told ready in 20 mins, this was 430, 25 mins later order not started, given accuse that we said would be there at 530, not true, payed for, back at 530, was told I did not pay for the order. So after much bickering found out I payed for someone elses order. I did not get out of there with my order un tile almost 6, all I got was a meek sorry about that. Food was cold and bland. Never again

Would love to try it, called for delivery and the guy made a big deal telling me he couldnt deliver to baltimore.. I am in cobourg. Gave him my address, he said he doesnt know where it is. Google maps puts the restaurant at 3.7 km from me... They deliver, but not outside of a 3.5km radius i guess? Ordered from wok and roll and picked up. Delicious as always

Was there for our first and last time. Its more of a takeout place because they didnt even give us forks or knives even though they have tables in there. The chicken balls were more like chicken peices. The chicken fried rice was yellow! Was so disappointed!

For thee most traditional and authentic tasting food of the orient in Cobourg, Five Star has all other resturants beat hands down. Its a friendly mom/pop sort of dine-in or out food establishment. Very clean and polite and cost affordable. No other place in Cobourg comes close!

Excellent restaurant and service. I feel a lot of the negative reviews on here are from folks that are for a lack of a better word, racist. People complaining about vaguely interested staff dont seem to mention this as McDonalds, Tim Hortons, or any other minimum wage spewing workplace grind. Food is good, portions are huge, staff is great. For what theyre trying to do, and that the price they charge, full marks.

wow! so my parents went here friday night February 24, 2017 and ordered 60$ in food. ultimately a terrible experiemce....Instead of getting fried rice, like they ordered, the recieved steamed rice. chicken balls were anything but cgicken involved! Its sad how a good vusiness can go go straight to the ditch in less than a year. my mom and i used to order from there in 2015 and 2016, when the food was GOOD. Now, wouldnt even feed to the family dogs. To the owners of Five Star in Cobourg, ON....pull up your socks and give back food quality for the price..Although, I dont recommend that anyone spends their hard earned money here, go out of town for the best chinese food experience...

Quality has noticeably declined since they first opened, prices are just too high for quality or quantity. Place appears clean but staff appear vaguely interested. I have visited 6 times but this restaurant no longer has any appeal to me. Sad.
