Mandatory 18% gratuity, extremely expensive, poor service. Ordered a wrap that came out soggy and was disgusting. Fries were good, but some may find them too salty. I was over billed and the server loudly chastised my friend when he changed his mind about what to order. 0/10.

First time as Symposium, sister in law had gear experience there and food was good. For the most part the food was good other than my nieces chicken tenders she didn t eat as they were dry, all bread and almost no chicken. I got souvlaki which was good but they were out of rice so I said fries were fine. Asked for extra Tzatziki, non on plate so I asked waitress for it. Never returned again with sauce. Sis ordered an extra garlic toast she had to ask for it when food was brought out wasn t there. Cook almost argued with her. I got my plate it had roasted potatos AND fries. Later I realized wait suppose to have Mediterranean salad I knew there was some Thing wrong with my order with roasted potatos . We were a party of 9 no one asked us if would like a beverage while waited for other members we ordered drinks when we ordered food. Asked for a baby seat waited 20mins for the seat. Once we got meals we never saw waitress again for drink top ups Or asked how food was(neice would have sent back fingers then). Saw another waitress when we are all finished for our bill. Food wise (minus chicken tenders) was alright very disappointed in the service. It had cleared out by time we ordered so was not busy. Waitress was very pleasant but not attentive at all and disappeared. Bill was over $300 not worth it.

Took family from out town for dinner and was terrible experience. Food was mostly ok but service was not good had problems from when we ordered drinks right till we had dessert. Overcharged for multiple things on bills and had to argue to get removed. Definitely will not be going back. We seen other customers leave as well from waiting to long for service.

We were a party of 6 and they seemed annoyed that they had to add a table they asked if we wanted to sit separately instead .. when we got our drinks 3 of the drinks were wrong .. it took another 2 tries after that to get it right(15 mins at that point). When my uncle got his corona it came without a lime he walked over with it on the dirty tray then passed it over with his fingers GROSS. We sent the beer back because it was flat ,then asked for it in a can , he did the same thing with the lime again had it laying on the dirty tray then passed over with bare fingers no napkin nothing! Appetizers took about 45 mins .. no one asked us how anything was. When my son got his tenders they were gross. But no one asked how our food was until everything was almost done. My son didn t eat the tenders at all. No refills nothing until the manager walked by . The best part was the bill took forever to come and when he did amar had over charged us for multiple things ! Then argued about it very rude. He was trying to charge me for my kids icecream and drink which comes with the meal he refused to take it off. He also over charged my uncle for 2 drinks that came with the couples meal AND DESSERT !! Again a big argument we had to ask for the manager which I hate doing she took it off . Took forever for him to bring that over . Never ever going back . Rude from the minute we went in . A few other tables had walked out well we were there . It s sad because it s a nice spot .

Saturday date night special. Dinner for 2 at 69.99 was good value. Three main courses to choose from. We had 10 oz. Striploin, roasted potatoes and grilled vegetables. ( There was fish or butternut squash ravioli as the other choices. ) App was a generous portion of spinach dip with plenty of pita bread ( serval appetizers to choose from) Dessert was s very decadent cheese cake . This also included several beverage options. I had espresso with the cheese cake. Thr food was delicious. Steak cooked as ordered ( rare) Friendly service

This is our second time here! Carol was our server and she was delightful again. Children enjoyed the kids meals and we had pizza and a Cuban sandwich. Wonderful atmosphere and dining experience! Will be back again next time we are in cobourg!!.

Thanks for a chance for a group of 5 friends to meet for 2 hours. We had appetizers and drinks. Service was great. Food exactly what we wanted. Our group was planning a trip in 2025 Symposium offered us the chance to meet longer. Wheelchair accessibility: I have a walking cast. The restaurant was easy to get from parking lot to the restaurant table.

We always enjoy eating here, had a nice dinner earlier this week and our server Amar was great!

Disappointing overpriced food. Avocado toast @ $19.45 had a small amount of avocado on one thin slice of toast, pico de gallo which my wife didnt find to her taste, and 2 unusually tiny poached eggs. Braised beef Benedict tasty enough, but not worth $19.45. Even the OJ, coffee and tea are overpriced. We wont be back.

Weve been coming here since it opened but will no longer return. All menu items have gone up in price -suppose thats expected given the recession. Portion sizes also went down. My issue was with the rotten muscles given and the manager arguing that the muscles were delivered today so they must be fresh when they were viably rotten. She then admitted they came from the back of the freezer and probably were old, No apology. I was then over billed, which I thankfully noticed. Serving rotten seafood can make people violently ill, and the manager couldnt have cared less. As someone who worked in restaurants for years I was absolutely appalled at the managers behaviour. Would not recommended this place to anyone.

Yet another wonderful meal at Symposium in Cobourg. As usual, the service from Stefani - and all the staff - was excellent. The Fettuccine Alfredo, with plenty of chicken and mushrooms, was delicious and the equally delicious Fish Tacos had at least twice as much fish as any other restaurant I have been to. We come here regularly and will continue to do so.

Had the pleasure of having a dinner out with my husband the other night at Symposium Cobourg. We had the dinner for 2 special and felt it was great value for the money. It includes an appetizer, 2 entrees, 2 beverages and a dessert to share. The food and service was excellent and we will definitely be back.

Worst food I ve ever had. Ordered wings. They cost $16 for 6 wings! They were dried out and cold. Our waitress Stefanie was lovely and beyond apologetic. Next came out the cook. Her uniform was filthy she didn t even seem to understand what we were complaining about. She said thank you and that s it! I will NEVER go back to this Cobourg restaurant again nor will my friend! We are very well connected to community in Northumberland County and will make sure to spread the word! Disgusting!!! Parking: Nope! Will not! I will write a review online and on social media and spread the word.

Booked a party if 7. We wanted to sit in the patio for a pre dinner drink but because of construction we couldnt. We have been to the Symposium in Ajax many times where the food and service has always been good. For some reason this one failed. Four of the meals were bland. The service considering the resturant was empty was poor. Only 6 places set, I had to ask for a seventh menu it came but without knife and fork which we had to ask for. The server was courteous enough but could have been more attentive, overall not impressed. But acknowledge many other previous positive reviews.

Amazing taste, loved every bite

The vanilla amaretto affogato and the mochachino cheesecake were smooth and delicious.

Overall a fine place to dine. The food was enjoyable and service was as it should be but nothing exceptional for a traditional breakfast. My only complaint, if you could call it that, was the price. 20-25 dollars for a breakfast is a little on the high side. Albeit most of the items are more than an average breakfast. For those that are just looking for a traditional breakfast, consisting of bacon, eggs, potatoes and toast, this is not the place for you. The bacon is parchment paper thin and the price is way above average. You are better off going to stacks... Just saying. But if you are adventurous and want something a little different then the norm then this is the place for you. Overall Id give this establishment a thumbs up! Well done Symposium! I have not been at Symposium in a while, so I was looking forward to the meal. I ordered a chicken teriyaki bowl. It was swimming in sauce, and some veggies were burned. My husband got Portuguese style chicken, and roasted potatoes were overcooked. Chicke was dry. Got carrot cake as I remembered it being great before. It was dry and not fresh. Only 2 writers were on site, with one being busy sorting some utensils and service was super slow. Will not come back. Its not worth the money.

Came for supper on a Tuesday not knowing it was pasta night. My husband and I had the build your own pasta, another guest had the chicken parmesan and another the burger. Everything was delicious and nobody went home hungry. Our server Emma was a gem, extremely friendly, professional and attentive. Well definitely be back.

On Saturday, February 3rd, several family members traveled to Coburg from different parts of Ontario to attend our nephews hockey tournament. A group of us, ranging in age from 8 years to 70 plus, went to your Symposium. Your staff made each of us feel welcomed and comfortable. Our server Lauryn was excellent: friendly, knowledgeable, professional. Our food choices were from all parts of your menu..good variety offered. Despite the different preparations and times involved, our meals were served perfectly prepared, and delivered to the table at the same time. Based on my very positive experience, I have absolutely no hesitation in recommending your restaurant, your menu, your chef, and your server Lauryn, to anyone. Your menu prices were pretty much restaurant norm...our meals were $20 -$30 range...location easily found, parking ample...restaurant itself well-organized and comfortable. Cobourg classic!

First time in Symposium restaurant in Cobourg, Ontario. The food was excellent, the server was very friendly and provided excellent service. I believe I have found a gem of a restaurant. Will definitely return for another breakfast or lunch or dinner. Excellent place to eat with great atmosphere

Honestly, didnt have high hopes for this place. I couldnt have been more wrong. The menu seems blah, but all the food is prepared well and seasoned, except the fries, which isnt a huge deal. Our server didnt write a single thing down and remembered all of it. If she thought you might have messed something up she double checked with us before anything could become an issue. She was very knowledgeable about the menu and could make very good recommendations. Also, there was 12 of us, 5 kids 7 adults, we were there on a Sunday so 5 of the kids meals were free, which I dont think they have to do in this day and age. Give it a try, its a lot better than most places in the area.

Came here for breakfast and lunch. The menu is to large for having a good quality among the many different culinary options. The chicken sluvaki dinner is literally made as though an American made it. No authentic flavours at all. The spicy aioli served with the sweet potato fries is literally just mayo. The amount of spice added is just enough to change the colour to orange, not the flavour. The club sandwich has no mayo on it, leaving the flavour profile somewhat bland without any fat content. Some of the menu items have a unique ingredient that does not benefit the dish. Dill in rice and raw cinnamon sprinkled all over a latte. The service can be somewhat slow. Our orders were also wrong or missing ingredients. The latte looks like nothing like the picture on the menu. The chocolate ice cream affegato was half the size of the picture and missing the hazelnuts and whipped cream. I ordered a cafe mocha and received a cafe latte instead, which was an error from the kitchen. The BLT and Carrot Cake were good items. This place is a cafe, as said in its name. Unfortunately they market their menu as a regular restaurant and since they are not a restaurant but a cafe their menu items are all over the place, sometimes mediocre, and sometimes extremely lacking in quality. As a cafe the options are lacking. It s honestly a restaurant not a cafe. While I wouldn t jump at the idea of coming here there are some good menu items and the pricing for the most part is good.

Bad taste with good ambience!!

We were a larger group of 10. Of the 10, only one of us was satisfied with meal. Sister had the Portuguese Chicken, which is chicken thighs that were grey in color and dry. My meal tasted fine but was cold when served. My husband had ordered the same, and his came out scalding hot.

Always good service and its evident that the cooks in the kitchen actually know how to cook. Ive ate breakfast and dinner there and order tricky items such as eggs Benedict and salmon. Both cooked to perfection. The servers are nice and the Manager is very personable and always checks on the tables.

Portions were good. We asked for a bottle of wine, since it was Friday and 50% off bottles, waitress never brought it. I asked for my Pad Thai to not be spicy, it was spicy. It was tasty, but the spice ruined it. And the restaurant was FREEZING. We work our coats.

Great experience for a big wedding party group brunch

They went above and beyond. They ran out of straws and went to the store to pick some up! Amazingly, kind service! They didn t need to do that but putting forth that extra effort was so impressive! The food was alright. Nothing exciting but it was enjoyable. We ordered the California chicken sandwich which was good, soup was ok and Mediterranean omelette. The staff were superb!

Please dont make me go back. Not good. To start, the menu has four thousand items on it and is the size of a god damn wall map. That was the first red flag. Soup is mediocre at best. Ribs were...ok but cold. Club sandwich doesnt come with sauce? And who in the hell thought it would be a good idea to serve that putrid, dishwater coleslaw? Then there was the fancy, rock hard cookie with cheap ice milk. At least the beer was cold.

Worst meal in a long time, would not recommend. Nice place, looks clean, friendly waiter but God awful food. After getting seated and then no one coming for 15 minutes we almost walked out (about 10 other people in the restaurant). Fish was like rubber, HAIR IN THE GRAVY, fries way over done and wifes chicken bacon club was as dry as the desert. After the hair, rubber fish and burnt fries, I sent my fish back but was so hungry it was all I could do to choke down half my wifes sandwich (asked for Mayo but never came). She couldnt even eat it. Waste of money. No problem paying for the drinks but the food was awful (they didnt charge for the fish but charged $20 for an almost un edible sandwich). Save some money and go to Arthurs across the street for some good food.

Do not go there if you have a large group. After 2 hours a few people still didn t have food and had to give up and find alternative for food.

The only reason this is not a 5 star is the price to what you get ratio. The food was great! The coffee was terrible, which ended up deciding not to upgrade our drinks to specialty coffees for the end. Were not done with this place, well give them another go and hope it was just a bad pot. Service was amazing, friendly and the food was hot and tasty.

This place has it. That relaxing good time, with delicious food, and great customer service. We have made breakfast our regular thing. We happen to get Noelle majority of the time. She s absolutely great. But when she s not around, the remaining staff is just as kind and helpful. Definitely would recommend eating or having a drink here. Plus the morning Mimosas are awesome!

The breakfast of champions vegetarian omelette is listed as sautéed portobello mushrooms, black beans, bell peppers, tomatoes, zucchini, red onions, cilantro, garlic sauce. Served with breakfast potatoes and toast. (800 Cals) The menu doesn t say it s filled with copious amounts of bbq(?) sauce. The eggs themselves were great and the potatoes too, but the sauce was overpowering and most vegetables were lost in it because it was just drowning. Really wish the menu said it was going to have this sauce because I would have avoided it. Service was lovely though.

I reserved a table for ten at this restaurant. What an absolute disappointment. The food was just awful. Three people ordered the Teriyaki chicken hardly no chicken and it was so loaded with the sauce. The butter chicken ok..but the rice awful. Two had the steak and they both had so much barbecue sauce. Desserts were dry. Never again will I ever reserve at this restaurant the food is nothing like other Symposiums I have been in .

Quality food and staff. Ive been to a few Symposuims and Ive always had a good experience.

I would put NO stars if I could! The waiter had the personality of a stale ham sandwich! He forgot part of our order, and was rude, the appetizer of pita and hummus was served with VANILLA yogurt with spinach! It was terrible! , and my main course was awful as well. I informed the waiter about the vanilla yogurt as it must be a mistake and he did nothing! No attempt to fix the situation or any apology for the bad service or food! We will Never go back!!

Our server Carol was amazing. We go to Cobourg once a month and always have to have a meal at your location. Parking: Parking is very easy and accessible for me with mobility challenge
