Craft Food House in Cobourg

This place was promising but has been nothing but disappointing after my first visit. Had a pulse salad the first time I was there and loved it. Ever since I have returned nearly half a dozen times (my coworker loves the food, but is also always disappointed) and the food never seems to be as good as the first time. First time the salad was great with lots of Tuna, kale, humus, Pulses etc. Ever since, there has always been ingredients missing or substituted and the salad tastes gross. Dont substitute pomegranate for chickpeas or use parsley as a stand-in for kale!!!!!!!! The worst experience I have had there was one time when I was waiting for my take-out and I asked the chef about the inconsistency in the quality of the food and he was quite rude. That being said most of the other servers I have encountered have been very friendly.

Ordered the Thanksgiving dinner, wowza. It was fantastic.

Chicken teriyaki was good, Mac and Cheese was not very cheesy. Service was pleasant, but very rushed.

lobster risotto was fantastic and chicken teriyaki had a great portion size. definitely recommend for reasonable pricing, atmosphere and friendly service

The best meals we ve had in Cobourg in years. Great atmosphere - including a very talented performer - and Amanda was a great server. But the star here is the food. So good, so tasty and excellent value. We ll be back soon.

My husband & I just went for supper last night on a Thursday not knowing that they serve the same lunch menu as the dinner time. (Thursdays only) Not being aware of it the owner went out of his way & served us from the dinner menu. He is so accommodating & a great chef! The food was amazing & sooo delicious. Weve gone numerous times for lunch & the salads are like no other. You will not be disappointed & the staff are great! Vegetarian options: Lots of vegetarian options. Parking: There is a large public parking for 2 hrs.

Amazing food. So much flavour. We had the Mango Peppercorn steak and it was fantastic. Prices are really good too.

We chose the restaurant because our favourite entertainer was on site, not knowing the restaurant beforehand. Each member of our group was impressed beyond words by the diversity, quality and deliciousness of our meals. The server knew the menu intimately and was very capable in support of our dining experience. The outdoor patio is intimate and perfect for a summer evening of dinner, drinks and entertainment.

We had a wonderful dinner. Food, service and ambience all excellent. Enjoyed the live music on the patio. Best meal Ive eaten in a restaurant in a long time.

We had the Mac and Cheese x3. The dish had so much black pepper in it that it overpowered the dish, we tasted no cheese in the dish either. My wife and cousin had the plain Mac and Cheese and I had the lobster Mac and Cheese, the lobster was not absent but not enough to make mention of. The same Mac and Cheese dish just with lobster and 2 dried out shrimp. My wife asked for ketchup for her Mac and cheese, they do not carry ketchup. The salad was a kale salad which was OK.

Wow...2 steps from the beach, very pleasant and quiet place, healthy and perfectly seasoned meals for children and adults!

Excellent experience! It has become our favorite restaurant.The portions were generous, the prices very reasonable, and the atmosphere pleasant. Its been a long time since we enjoyed such a delicious meal. A big thank you to Amanda for giving us outstanding service. We enjoyed the terrace but would love to come back to experience the inside as well because the restaurant is beautiful. The atmosphere is fantastic, and we will definitely return!

The lunch menu was the dinner menu on this Thursday night. Lighter meals all $20 and under. We all left satisfied. Grest menu variety. Looking forward to my next visit.

Stopped on our way through town and we were delighted with this find. Excellent food, great service, and reasonable prices. What more could you want? How about a lovely patio as well? Highly recommended.

Heard about Craft from a Facebook post where basically everyone was recommending it! We decided to try it to see what all the hype was about and we were not disappointed! Had the most delicious dinner on their lovely patio. Amanda, our server, was awesome and had great suggestions for both food and drinks because we couldn t decide what to have . so glad we took her advice! You could tell she was proud of their menu and the quality of the food, as well they all should be! Thank you! We will most definitely be back!

We were traveling through via 401 and looking for good, fresh food. Seeing that this place is all about the food, we decided to give it a try and we re so happy we did! Service was a bit apologetic, having just reopened after suffering a catastrophic plumbing failure. Excellent food. Service was quick enough for us and the ambiance was very comfortable and welcoming. I highly recommend the detour from 401 to catch a meal at Craft Food House!

We were lucky enough to discover Craft Food House for our recent anniversary. Our meals were amazing! We had just recently been to Montreal and had eaten at some very good restaurants and Craft Food House was absolutely comparable to those fine meals. Micah was our wonderful server. There was live entertainment. We will definitely plan on returning on our next trip to Cobourg.

Excellent restaurant near the beautiful beach in Cobourg. The portions were large and the food was fresh and flavorful. The menu has something for everyone to enjoy. The servers were friendly and responsive to our dining needs. Would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Cobourg!

Elegant atmosphere without being pretentious. Well crafted menu with a variety of options to please a variety of palates. Food is always fresh, well plated and delicious.

Had lunch at this wonderful spot and hope to return! Our server/bar tender was so busy, and yet he made us feel welcome, relaxed, and made excellent suggestions when asked for recommendations. The atmosphere was so friendly and the setting was beautiful. Best part, it was so accessible for those who arrived with wheelchairs and strollers. Wheelchair accessibility: Watched several guests use the interior ramp to enter the dining area. Its such a great feature!

The seafood Mac and cheese was to die for!

Butter chicken rice bowl was good, mix well with the salad. The lobster crepe was great too. Probably go back again if we are in town. Two dishes were enough for 2 adults and a 7 year-old.

Food, service, and live music was all amazing! I went here for my birthday with some friends and had some of the best food ever, we were the last ones in the restaurant and the live musician sang happy birthday, really elevating my birthday experience there. Chef s menu had all of us blown away, everyone loved their food, it wasn t just good food it was AMAZING

Went here to celebrate my birthday. Photos don t do the interior justice, it s very cozy and warm ambience. We enjoyed our meals, drinks, and the server was very good; attentive and friendly (although not very knowledgeable about the wines, but that s ok). Another gem for Cobourg. I will definitely return!

Tried Craft this past week after so many recommendations from friends. It is absolutely worth it for the food alone. I had the seafood mac and cheese and it was the perfect blend of flavours you could ask for. The seafood was perfectly cooked and the pasta was well done. I will return for this dish alone. I found the atmosphere to be very nice and the staff to be quite friendly. My only bit of feedback was that I found the service to be a little bit slow, especially near the end while waiting to leave. Otherwise, an A+ experience for me.

For lunch I ordered a gourmet cheese sandwich and soup. The sandwich was excellent but the soup was too salty to eat. Even my lunch companions tried and agreed. My one friend ordered some kind of noodle dish with a few shrimp. That was too salty also. Cannot be health conscious with so much salt. The waiter Brandon was delightful.

The food is freshly made and certainly creative, but sometimes odd combinations. The pad Thai salad tastes nothing like pad Thai and is made with ramen noodles. That will either horrify you, or not. If you re that latter, Craft might be for you.

Love the foods. Please cut back on salt. Way too much.

Don t post hours that you re open if you don t operate within those hours. Here at 1pm Says open till 2. At least put a sign up.

Lovely place. Only critic is for the mac and cheese. Flavour was there, but the ratio was missing. Had to use a spoon and drain the liquid from the noodles. I wouldnt order it again.

We went on a Saturday morning. There wasn t very much available food wise which was disappointing but the chocolate croissants that we had were soooo good and the latte was really good. I just wish there has of been more options than just 2 types of pastries to eat.

Small and quaint restaurant near the beach in Cobourg. First visit and the food was delicious and portions reasonable. Had a chicken and avocado kale salad as well as a grilled cheese with vitamin K salad. Also tried their date square and chocolate/peanut butter squares. All great. Friends had the lobster mac & cheese which was great too. Craft has an outdoor patio. Staff was polite and pleasant. They are now open for dinner, which was not the case in the past. Pho soup vegetarian was sooooooo awesome

We were there for a late lunch. The food (grilled cheese on Naan came with squash ginger soup and kale watermelon salad. It was a nice variety of tastes and textures. We will be back.

Craft has always been good, but they made some changes and are now a full serve lunch place. I just went for lunch and it was so warm and inviting and the food was amazing, as always. Highly recommend! Parking: Lots of options down town

Stopped in for lunch on a Friday afternoon. We had the lobster mac and cheese and the curry chicken. Both came in very good sized portions with a great kale salad. Loved the sauce and the curry was perfect. Highly recommend this place.

Food is always decent here, and the showcase products are very fresh and flavourful. Their power bowls are excellent! There is a lot of room inside for dining, but only a few tables outside, which are very relaxing. It can sometimes take a while for on-the-go orders, but always worth the wait.

Very let down by this place which is unfortunate given how much I used to enjoy the salad bowls for a nice quick take-out lunch. During my most recent visit, the service staff were wonderful, however the way in which I witnessed the owner treating them was upsetting and uncomfortable (constant yelling and berating). Like I said, this breaks my heart because I did really enjoy lots of their lunch items, but I cant tolerate supporting an establishment that treats employees like this. Hope things turn around. Very delicious - go with a friend, order the jerk chicken salad bowl, have your friend order the tandoori cauliflower and chicken salad bowl...then completely share!

I called to order a catering take our menu for a dinner party of 6. I was very pleased with my conversations back and forth in picking a party menu. I can t praise the chef and staff enough for the amazing food we had. I was very surprised for the extra delicious appetizers that were sent with our meal at no extra charge.

We picked up the most delicious dinner from this restaurant. All times and temperatures to reheat the dishes were provided. The flavour was delicious, the combination of different foods were amazing and everything about it was perfect. I would highly recommend that you contact this restaurant for your next celebration or whenever you don t want to cook.

A sweet, quiet, and lovely space. Good food and friendly staff.

This is a great place to get delicious and unique salad bowls and other lunch specialties. Some bowls come with chicken, pork or tuna. On a nice summer day, you can sit out on the quiet side patio. They also make a terrific cappuccino and other coffees. The service is friendly and the prices are reasonable.

Friendly, hardworking servers...it can become overwhelmingly busy at certain times...BUT be patient. If you don t relax, it ll be your loss!

Quality place , clean eating with an authentic twist .

Atmosphere was great, one of our favourite interiors so far in Cobourg. However food was meh. This place, along with most others in Cobourg need to step their game up with the city crowds moving out here. Food is quite bland, and not authentic to what its being labeled as. Also just a heads up, the pronunciation of pho is fuh the lady at the counter tried to correct us as when we said it correctly!

So in all honesty the food was good. I need to go back again and try something different maybe it was a bad day or too much salt was added to the broth. I had the pad Thai and pho. Which werent bad I just really wish they spiced up the dish a bit. Really felt it missed a lot of the ingredients you would expect out of a Vietnamese and thai dish. However the coffee was really nice!

Craft has a fantastic atmosphere and great staff. There was a person training who was very friendly, polite and efficient. They went above and beyond to inform me how they prepared my food due to an allergy. The quality of food is next level- fresh produce, good quality and they makr a great latte with Trebilcock coffee! Looking forward to returning.

Tricky hours but some of the best food ANYWHERE. Incredible pop up menus and the chicken roti is one of the best. Salads are fantastic. Great take home cook/reheat options. Great staff.

Weve been loving the Craft Food House! This past weekend we got our Easter dinner from here and was not disappointed. Their food is always fresh, healthful and tastefully prepared. The Special K salad is always a favourite.

Always freshly made salad and delightful service. Very knowledgeable staff thats willing to explain the contents of a new menu item. Every visit, I get a vitamin k salad which has chickpeas, diced watermelon, shaved carrot, kale and I think diced beets - an delightful conglomerate of flavours that cant be replicated! The drink menu had a good breadth of choices - Our most recent visit, we had an Americano and Tokyo fog - definitely try both! The boldness of the Americano was solid, and there were delightful fruitiness tones to the Tokyo fog - will return to drink more, if I could have an IV drip to have it all of the time I would

I didnt think it was possible to cook such a flavour-free curry but Im impressed. Chicken was dryer than the Sahara, doubt it ever went near an oven let alone tandoori. Vitamin K salad was pretty good though, and the plating was aesthetic. Great for instagram, not great for lunch.

Not only were the dishes amazing but the staff and chef were really friendly and helpful. We tried the curry roti, the jerk chicken and the lobster mac and cheese. The dishes were fantastic! Definitely coming back for another meal!

I like this place. As a person with celiac disease, I have enjoyed their gluten free power bowls and their gluten free eggs benedict. Always fresh and tasty. But when it comes to sweet treats they put them altogether in the same case with the wheat filled treats -- sometimes side by side on the same tray and advertise the flourless brownies (which are delicious btw) and other things as gluten free. The reason I know rhey are so good is that a thoughtful friend bought me one. They really should educate themselves on this issue or stop labelling things as gluten free. This is dangerous for celiac people and makes me wonder if rhey know what theyre doing in the kitchen. If youre celiac beware!

We needed food on short notice for a small funeral reception. I was very worried about how I could serve food safely but I spoke to the owner at Craft Food House and he told me that they could supply individual box lunches that were jam-packed with yummy stuff (my words not his). I was a little apprehensive as box lunch to me conjures up visions of ham on white bread with a bruised apple and a juice box. Well, we picked up our order and we were not disappointed. The boxes were packed full, with a flavourful wrap sandwich, cheese, fruit, olives, carrot and celery sticks to dip in the best hummus Ive ever eaten, plus a soft buttery raspberry square for dessert. It was too much to finish. Highly recommend.

Great tasting healthy food choices

We found this place by chance, and we couldnt be luckier. The location is really nice and conveniently located near to the beach. A great variety of dishes is available during lunchtime (vegan, vegetarian, meat, pat Thai and Asian-style noodles with dumplings) and they also prepare a great coffee. I ordered the quinoa burger on a bed of kale salad. I really loved the burger and the strawberries into the salad. I will definitely come back there. They also serve breakfast but I only tried a peanut butter cookie (delicius).

Interesting food. Not quite sure of the theme; maybe Cuban influenced. Very clean, fresh space. Polite and speedy service (order at the counter). Very good coffee. My food very tasty - an interesting twist on a breakfast sandwich. My order came with an unexpected and welcome side of kale, blueberry and watermelon salad. Seems a little expensive, but there are many places youd pay the same for poorer fare, so not really a complaint.

Everything about Craft is outstanding!! The food, the service and the people! This is by far my favourite place to eat in Cobourg!! Chef Zab catered my wedding and all of my guests couldnt stop talking about how amazing the food was! Craft has so many options for special diets too - gluten free, dairy free, vegetarian, vegan, etc.

Absolutely fabulous late lunch - traveling from Toronto to Kingston on the 401, we just googled somewhere to eat and stumbled on this place with excellent reviews. So glad we stopped. Easy parking, excellent food, good atmosphere, and great hosts - easily 5/5.
