Cucina Urbana Italian Kitchen & Wine Bar in Cobourg

Came here for a birthday celebration. The food and beverage selection was second to none when it comes to Italian fare. It is a cozy venue, with tight seating, so if you prefer to have lots of space, this place isn t for you. However, you will be missing out, because the food was excellent and service was fantastic. I am from out of town, but will definitely be visiting again sooner than later.

First time coming here and it didn t disappoint. The steak melted in my mouth with every bite. All the apps we had too was amazing. Thank you and I ll be back

What a delight to find this wonderful Italian eatery on the waterfront open on Sunday after church. We didnt have a reservation and they were full but the maitre d went out of his way to seat us at the bar, even adding an extra stool. Three of us shared a warm mushroom vegan cheese salad and blue cheese thin crust pizza with thin savory beef strips - yummy! Peroni on tap to top it off and a nice wine selection.

Been here twice now. Easily my favourite restaurant in Cobourg and as bold as it is to state I can t think of another place I enjoy more for quality food. My last visit I ordered the chef s special that night veal parm on pesto fettuccine (best meal I had in 2024).

Absolutely lovely dinner at Cucina! We had the muscles in a white wine sauce to start and they were delicious. I also had the lobster Ravioli and it was one of the best dishes I ve had to date.

I had a roasted artichoke salad which was creative and delicious. I was part of a large group and the restaurant had no trouble taking care of everyone with ease and in a timely manner. Staff was excellent, friendly and attentive. The price range below includes a glass of wine. Dietary restrictions: Very helpful in telling me what did not have garlic (since a lot of their meals have some level of garlic.)

We had the lobster dip but seems like it didnt have much lobster in it. The rest of the meal was good but I am thinking its overrated. Been a few times now.

We always love having lunch at Cucina Urbana on the water in Cobourg. We come in from Prince Edward County and it is worth the trip. Our favourite is the ravioli. I tried the mussels in wine, garlic herb sauce. Delicious! Lots of garlic, which I love. I always enjoy their berry Sangria. The service is always spot on.

Lived in Cobourg for 2 years, decided it was finally time to experience this place for a wedding anniversary. The service was great and the food was tasty. I would return to celebrate another special occasion.

First of all, our waitress was lovely and very attentive. I ordered chicken parm sandwich. First bite all the breading on the chicken slid off onto my plate. The chicken was dry. I had the feeling it was not freshly made. It was hard to hold the sandwich..it pretty well fell apart. I only ate a few bites and did not eat the rest. Our waitress asked if I wanted another sandwich and I really did not ...it was not good. I was charged for the sandwich. I guess if I had kicked up a fuss I may have gotten some satisfaction...I just wasnt interested in conflict. Peggy OToole

The food and service was excellent, but we didnt want to stay too long. The noise was terrible. We couldnt hear each other at all. The sound travelled so badly that we could hear loud peoples conversations from the other end of the restaurant. We spoke to the people beside us and they said the same thing. Not sure I would come back as it was not a great experience.

Everything was delicious. The portions are large so us 4 ladies shared an appetizer, 2 salads and 2 mains. I LOVED the lobster ravioli. Great service even though the place was full.

Space was a bit tight, but authentic to Italian dining family atmosphere. Overall, will come back if in the area. Recommend reservations as this place is popular!

The food, drinks and desert are second to none. The service is by far the best of any restaurant I have dined at. Not once were we waiting. This is a top notch restaurant and we will be back. 10/10. Applause to the staff and kitchen.

Charming contemporary decor with lots of warm wood accents and waterside view of Lake Ontario and Cobourgs Waterfront Community, a step up aesthetically, great atmosphere. We had Bruschetta, Truffle Gnocchi and Pan Seared Stuffed Chicken. Mains were excellent and if it were not for the disappointing Bruschetta I would have given them 5 stars. Bruschetta was a little lacklustre flavour wise, over power by strong chopped onion and a Focaccia toast that had the taste and texture of stale bread

Really really terrible experience I ve ever had. Apparently the foods are not bad. However, the customer service was awful. The guy whoever seems like a manager or lead and all the waitresses only made perfunctory efforts. I was been interrupted several times while order foods or having to wait for long time to call them again and again. Well you can still expect them to be nice only at the time when you pay the bill. But thanks anyway I won t be visiting again.

My husband and I came here for an intimate dinner after our wedding ceremony. Everything was incredible. The atmosphere, service and of course the incredible food all made our evening perfect! They went above and beyond to make it a special evening for us, it was much appreciated. We cannot wait to come back soon and try more of the menu.

So I came to Cucina s today for lunch with my 2 elderly friends for lunch. They both have mobility issues. Theresa was so helpful in making sure that they were seated comfortably. She was very helpful in recommending a delicious Sophia Loren martini to start. Yum! We ordered their Caesar salad to start. It was the best Caesar salad we ve ever had! The special of the day was lobster Mac & cheese! OMG ! It was heavenly! Thank you Theresa & Mike for yet another wonderful experience in your restaurant. You guys are amazing! You gotta eat here!! Excellent food and service! I didn t know anything about this restaurant before we came. We were meeting family for lunch and this was the half way point for all of us. I chose this restaurant based on location and reviews. We will definitely be back again. Food presentation and portions were perfect! Everyone had something different (beet salad, pizza, spaghetti, ravioli special, truffle gnocchi) and we all enjoyed our meals.

Everything was AMAZING! We enjoyed celebrating our 15 year wedding anniversary with you. My only suggestion is PLEASE get a high chair or proper booster seat with belts because we brought our 10 month old and I ended up needing to hold her the whole time and was not able to fully enjoy myself the way I normally would if she had a proper chair.

Well run, great food excellent staff and the location is perfect. We have been there 3 times this summer and enjoyed our experience. Shout out to the town of Colbourg for its cleanliness and beautiful place to visit

Weve been to this lovely place 3 times now and its our go to for a special meal. Always a warm greeting and friendly service! The staff work tirelessly and always have time for a smile and a suggestion. Our meals have always been fabulous. The ceasar salad and cheesecake are 2nd to none. The specials are interesting and delicious. Weve had the squid ink pasta and the pork chop specials - superb! We have to keep going so we can work our way through the menu!! Family visit from Florida. They enjoyed a beautiful lunch at Cucina. We had calamari and bruschetta apps followed by gnocchi, seafood linguini and the mushroom ravioli special. All delicious.

Atmosphere seems nice, no idea how the food is though. Showed up with my dog, asked for an outdoor seat. Was told I cannot use the open 4 top because it was just the two of us, even though there s no wait and no one in line but us. Would have loved to try the food here but not if we are looked down on and refused service like that.

I ve eaten here before in April 2023 and it was fantastic. Today however was completely different. The food was disappointing. Arancini was tasteless, needed to be properly seasoned. Pizza wasn t cooked well, very soft and bready crust. My son s pizza had the pepperoni thrown on after the pizza was baked so it was barely warmed. My mother s fish dish came with rice which was hard. I m from Toronto and drove 1.5 hours to meet friends from Belleville at this mid point restaurant, which we have done before but will select somewhere else going forward. A waste of time and money.

Celebrated our 40th anniversary dinner last Saturday night, it was our first time at Cucina Urbana.The service and our server was fantastic. This was our second time at Cucina for dinner. The first time was about 3 years ago, and it was great. We recently moved to the area so tried Cucina again. My husband enjoyed his ravioli but my Margherita pizza wasn t nearly as good as the one I had a few years ago. It wasn t thin crust or charred like I expected. The recipe must be different, which is unfortunate. My husband s meal was brought out before mine, and after about 5 minutes of just his meal on the table, a staff took his plate back to the kitchen. It was a bit surprising that restaurant staff would bring out only one of 2 meals and think that s ok. The sangria was good and our table was also a nice spot. We will try again in winter when they are less busy.

The service here was very good but food was extremely disappointing. Most dishes were bland or didnt match the description . We got the warm garlic focaccia, I dont think they knew what a focaccia is because we got burned toast, regular garlic bread would have been better. My main was gnocchi with rose sauce but for some reason the sauce was spicy which wasnt indicated anywhere. My moms rice and salmon was bland and had two string beans for veg. My dads mushroom pizza was extremely bland. The only person who enjoyed the meal was my partner with his meat pizza. This isnt the place for Italian food unfortunately. Service and vibe was good though .

Cucina is our favourite restaurant in Cobourg. My mother-in-law says it s a place where you feel like you ve been on vacation without ever having to get on a plane. Service has always been wonderful and the Italian cuisine is delicious and beautifully presented. The ambiance - relaxing and magical as you can see the marina and the water from the window and patio. We have loved all of our experiences with Cucina - restaurant, food and staff.

This place is a gem! The service is incredible from the time we arrived and were greeted to the time we left the staff were fun, happy and engaging. We couldnt believe how busy it was yet the atmosphere was relaxed and we werent rushed out. We all had different entrees, everyones food came out together and it was all excellent, decent portions too! The dessert selection is great too! Highly recommend this great restaurant! Visiting here from Toronto tonight what an experience! Alex, our server was soo gracious and inviting, the dining experience was truly remarkable. I truly can t wait to come back to Coburg simply for this incredible spot!!

- Wait 30 minutes for a table - 45 minutes wait for food - There is hair in the food - The waiter was indifferent and the head waiter was perfunctory. - (The food tastes very ordinary) Shop Owner: Please stop your lies! I have never asked you for any freebies(except for the meal you provided with hair in it; I wont pay for something that is inedible and contaminated). Your apology is completely insincere, especially with Mikes response being filled with hostility. Unfortunately, I will not be coming back to your restaurant, and I am reluctantly repeating these facts here. Additionally, we did not make a reservation, so we waited 30 minutes to be seated. After being seated, we waited another 45 minutes for the food.

We stop at this restaurant every summer and it never disappoints. Great atmosphere, delicious food and a vibrant atmosphere for a small town. Sadie provided us with amazing service this evening and was so engaging with our children. As always a great dining experience.

We took a detour on our drive back from Ottawa and stumbled upon this amazing restaurant. Our server, Sadie, was fantastic! The food was delicious, and the prices were very affordable for the selection. We will definitely be back! Thank you for a great experience.

Already cant wait to get back here. Food was amazing and everyones plates were wiped clean. Feared we woulda been under dressed for this style of restaurant and were treated respectfully by everyone.

The service at the restaurant is excellent except for after your meal is served. No one came by to check or ask how our meal was. We shared mussels for an appetizer, seafood linguini, and salmon as our mains. The first two items were excellent, but the salmon was overcooked and dry. If someone came by to ask how we liked our food, we would have given them 4 stars. We would visit again.

Disappointing birthday dinner, I should have listened to the reviews and booked a reservation elsewhere. The servers completely ignored us for 10 minutes before they assumed someone had seen us. The host also pointed us to our seats, that is pure laziness. The food we ordered was good but I definitely expected a bit more. I feel no one there wants to take accountability on their guests. They did not do anything to go above and beyond, they never told us any of their names either which I think is funny. Service is KEY and this definitely impacted our impression.

Great price for Value. Aperol Sprits made the right way. I made a mistake a thought the pizza was wood fired instead of stone baked in a commercial oven which I figured out by the end of the meal. The staff were so attentive they could see the confusion on my face, like, something is off here. They were apologizing, I was apologizing for misunderstanding the menu (a Canadian sooory standoff) pretty much. For commercial stone Pizza it was great! The staff really care here. I asked my server Ella (which I should have asked in the first place) what are the best dishes top sellers. Seems the Gnocchi and seafood dishes. Will absolutely be back. Great view of the water with commercially installed ceiling to floor window screens. My only feedback would be to put a limit on drunks at the bar. Some decent F word as adjectives going on around 9:30pm. Pizza was served on plate of course - taking the rest home, I m stuffed. Mark & Theresa the owners have done an amazing job here elevating downtown Cobourg compared to the town s state 5+ years ago. We had a group of 9 for lunch. its was perfect. The pizzas were great as usual and the mussels to die for. its great to go to a restaurant and have such friendly staff look after you so well.

Food good , service friendly, and attentive

Everytime Ive been Ive been so pleasantly impressed with their food. Shrimp diavolo, and their baked Brie are a must try. Johnny, Ella, Alex, and Molly have all taken care of me on seperate occasions and were absolutely lovely.

Delicious Amazing Food

Decided to have my birthday dinner with my family here and it was a terrible experience. Extremely poor service and food. I have never had to send food back before until this restaurant and it was upsetting considering the reviews are so high and I hate to waste food. The gnocchi was lumpy and cold with burnt pita or something on it? The pizza was soggy and bland, the other pasta dishes were over cooked and mushy and the sauce tasted out of a jar. The grilled calamari is not typical, it was really poorly flavoured and spicy. Some may like it but it was not what we expected. I do not leave poor reviews, but this was a bad experience and I am sad to have to write this. There was no attempt by the manager / any staff to apologize or check in about the food considering all the food was such poor quality. I understand it was busy but that s really not common for an expensive place, typically a manager would attempt to resolve it in any sort of way. Our bill was $300 + tip and I left without a dinner on my birthday. It is not often we splurge for a nice dinner and I wait all year for my birthday dinner, only to leave without eating. I ve attached a photo of the mushy garlic bread *focaccia*.

My husband and I visit Cucina s every month (sometimes more) for our date night. The atmosphere is incredible, the staff are fantastic and very attentive. We ve both had many dishes off the menu and have loved every one. One of our favourites is the beef short rib. My husbands favourite app is the lobster dip and mine is the Brie. We always feel very special when we go to Cucina s, like everyone is happy to see us. It s a great feeling. And they were so accommodating when my husband wanted to surprise me with our personal champagne flutes during our anniversary dinner.

Our server was personable, friendly, efficient and we had noted, a good up-seller. The food was amazing. I would go back if I had the opportunity. We were going to a concert in town, that evening. She made sure that we received our bill on time, so as not to miss the concert. Kudos to your establishment and staff. Vegetarian options: We chose this restaurant because of its vegetarian menu options. My friend, who is vegetarian, enjoyed his meal too. Parking: The parking lot was conveniently located beside the restaurant.

What happened to this restaurant? I was here two years ago and had a fabulous time. My experience on Sunday was not very good. I gave this restaurant 5 stars the first time but now the restaurant is packed at all times. To the point that the service is lacking. The gentlemen at the door didn t even crack a smile and neither did any of the 8 servers I counted that evening. No one spoke to us or asked how we were - it was too busy to take the time. The gentleman serving us forgot dishes at two different tables. Maybe they should concentrate on service and forget about packing the tables. The food was ok but mostly we were disappointed in the hospitality. We left with a cold feeling and doubt very much we d return.

You definitely need reservations.We were lucky to get space at the bar on a Sunday with no reservations Very busy place, small probably 40 or less seating space with a nice patio. We ordered calamari as appetizer, it had an amazing flavor and lasagna as main to share (2)but unfortunately the lasagna was cold inside (like frozen cold)so we noticed it was not fresh, Servers were to busy to ask...and we were hungry. On the bar .. we noticed particularities on servers hygiene when making other peoples drinks that makes us not go back again. .

I recently had dinner here with my husband, Father and Aunt. We enjoyed the main dishes and desserts however found the appetizers we ordered to lack in flavour and creativity. The red wine menu could have a better selection to include some lower priced bottles (all were over $40.00 a bottle). The service was also very good with the exception of one of our servers who was lacking in customer service training and didnt appear to enjoy being there. The restaurant itself is lovely and in a nice location however it is very noisy and crowded (on a Friday evening anyway) and its not very relaxing to sit anywhere near the kitchen service area where we were seated (keep that in mind when making a reservation). We would definitely return to enjoy dinner or a dessert and coffee.

Excellent! I loved the pizza and the dessert was amazing! It was very busy when I was there for dinner and I generally prefer a quiet, empty-ish place, however the service was so good and the food so good, and the obvious enjoyment of the other guests, that the atmosphere was really lovely too. I was there in the dark, however I believe with the huge windows facing towards the water, the views during the day would be wonderful.

Our 1st trip to Cobourg was last August. Hubby had already scoped out this restaurant, but our Innkeeper, the lovely Vanessa at The King George, just endorsed our choice. A wonderful dining experience. We started with grilled calamari...oh yum. I had a half Caesar salad that we shared. He had the Seafood Linguine. I had the Carbonara. A couple of Tinis to start, and a bottle of Luigi with dinner. Excellent! This time, July 2024 Started with sharing the amazing Shrimp Diavalo! Omg good and could have done another. The Hubby had the special, ravioli in a decadent white cheese sauce, Alfredo. I enjoyed the seafood linguine this time and it was deelish! Wine special was on, and we had a red, the Rhighetti, because it was so good the last time and not available at the LCBO. John brought us a desert to share, a chocolate ice cream thing that had a drizzle and was Sublime. Another fab dinner and another reason to come back again! Thank you John!!

What stood out the most was the service! My server was o top of everything, gave great suggestions and was attentive. I ordered the angry bee pizza and, , it good! The portions were great and the price was reasonable. They were even able to accommodate my gluten allergy. Great place! We went on a Tuesday evening for a special occasion. This happened to be their free corkage night, so we brought our own. Loved the food. The beet and burrata salad was great, as were our pasta dishes! Nice view of the harbor, too!

Food is excellent and consistent they provide a good variety. Service is very welcoming, efficient, maybe a bit too rushedat times. Continuous improvements are made to reduce the noise level.

The chowder was incredible. The service was fast, professional and we were being checked on consistently without it being overbearing. My wife loved the beet salad but Ive had much better seafood linguini. I would definitely visit again to explore other things on the menu.

We don t often go out for a nice meal, and my husband decided to treat me because I absolutely love Italian food, specifically pasta. I was really excited for my meal, but unfortunately the pasta was absolute mush (the worst I ve ever experienced in any restaurant!), and I don t believe the pasta was fresh either, to top it off there was zero flavour. No seasoning at all. It was a real let down. I ate the seafood but left the rest. My husband ordered a medium rare steak, it came out medium well. For the prices I would expect fresh pasta and for an Italian restaurant I would especially expect them to know how to cook pasta. We did let the server know about the pasta and they gratefully took the dish off the bill but even with that off the bill, with one drink for me, 2 drinks for my husband and one meal (plus tip) it was close to $100. I don t see myself going back and couldn t recommend it.

Great food, huge portions , wonderful service

My husband and I came here for the first time for our anniversary last night. We ordered the lobster dip (which was amazing) and he had the beef ravioli which was a special , also good but portion was small. I had the seafood linguini which I wouldnt order again. The portion was small and the sauce was more of a spicy oil which made the noodles taste very plain. We had to wait a while to be seated and we had 4 different servers? None of which asked us if we wanted another glass of wine or anything extra. I had to ask for the receipt as well. The restaurant was beautifully decorated but I was very confused on who our server was. Not sure if well be back.

The food and service were excellent! However, noise level too high due to the fact that seating was very close to all other customers. Less people in such a small place would have created a less noisy and a more calming environment. Parking: Good location.

Except food, great service and a very pretty setting to have dinner. We sat on the patio and were very well taken care of. We will return.

Second visit here and everything tasted great but I had the butternut squash ravioli and the portion size was smaller than a kids dinner. There was like only 6 pieces and either they ran out as it was insanely busy and noisy due to 2 tables with parties going on or this is now shrinkflation as it was not worth $25. Will go again as service and food is excellent. I would have said something but it being so busy didn t want to add to the commotion going on.

Awesome service, great food - can t wait to visit again. I was visiting from out of town and met a friend for a last minute dinner. We were lucky to have Alix as our server, who treated us like gold. I totally made a mistake and forgot my sunglasses on our table and only realized when I had already returned. The team tucked away my glasses and went above and beyond to make sure I got them back safely. Can t wait to visit again soon

Had an amazing chicken parm lunch here. Great atmosphere and the waitress was pleasant and attentive even considering the fact the restaurantwas very busy. Will definitely be coming here the next time Im in Cobourg :)

Food and service was very good. We loved how well all staff worked together. It wasn t one table, one server. We felt like we were well taken care of AND the staff had excellent communication skills. So welcomed these days. Vegetarian options: I had the vegan parpadelle and it had a lot of vegetables which was great but I d like a little less oil in mine. I didn t eat what was at the bottom of my plate. Other than that it was very good.

Very nice Italian restaurant. 4 stars as it was all very good, good service and atmosphere- just nothing over the top. It was a busy Saturday evening and the maître D have us a table by the window just until 5:00 as we didn t have a reservation. We had 45 minutes before we had to catch a show, so we ordered the seafood chowder which was great; however it didn t come with any bread, so we had to order a side dish of bread for 7$ (?!) Baked Brie was also delicious. Lovely view of the lake, and nice atmosphere. Service was prompt and moderate friendly. Restaurant was almost full at 4:30 on a Saturday.

We really enjoy Cucina Urbana and have eaten in and ordered takeout many times since we moved to Cobourg a few years ago. Their Italian food is terrific but thats not why Im writing this review today. Im writing because of how the restaurant goes above and beyond every time I place a small order for their kids chicken fingers and fries. Simply put...my kid loves their chicken fingers and fries. It is one of the two Cobourg restaurant meals he tells us he dreams about. And on Friday nights we often get takeout and watch a family movie together. And when my wife and I arent in the mood for Italian (as good as Cucinas is) my son still often asks for the chicken fingers from there. So I have to do a delicate multi-resto dance of timing to ensure we get all our meals ready at the relative same time for pick up. And every time I call Cucina, no matter how busy they are, they willingly cook us up an order of their fingers and fries and when I go to pick up my $11 worth of food they treat me as well as if we were putting down 20x that amount. My son appreciates the quality of the chicken and fries but I appreciate still being treated well by a restaurant who obviously isnt making a ton of money from our order. That goes a long way and is one of the many reasons we are dedicated customers. And when we DO want Italian food we know we will enjoy our takeout order or visit and will feel just as important to them as when I order the lowly chicken fingers and fries. Bravissimo, Cucina Urbana!

Food is great and flavor is so rich. Theresa and her team is very attentive and nice. We love the Angry Bee pizza. Will come again next time visiting Cobourg.

The food is wonderful and it feels like you are eating dinner at a friends. We just located to the area and this has become our go to place for celebrations, and just a lovely dinner out. Highly recommend.
