Sunny Side Diner Cobourg in Cobourg

Went a few times, if anyone is also there eating the service is slow. The waitress is nice nice when you are a customer, when you show up as a delivery driver she is rude and unhelpful. Will never eat at or deliver for this restaurant again.

Went there on a Saturday with a large group of we called ahead and gave lots of notice we were coming. When we got there the staff was not organized and when I received my meal it was cold . I did not receive the toast or the beans my husband meal was also cold and the toast was burnt. When I complained that I couldn t even it my meal ( I ate my bacon only) and I asked if they could take it off my bill I was told that I had to pay for it nobody could take it off my bill. When we first sat down my tea cup was dirty as well. It was an awful experience

Would not recommend this diner. Unfriendly server, tasteless and over priced food, and no ambience. Would not recommend and would not revisit.

Worst dining experience!!! Hair in my food - I don t normally leave bad reviews but this was the worst dining experience I ve had. Rude service, 20 mins to get drinks, they were wrong, another 25 minutes to get served cold eggs, bacon and home fries - multiple of our orders were incorrect. I will never be going back. I wouldn t recommend anyone else go.

First time here, enjoyed my experience

We visited several times when they first opened 7 months ago and were very pleased. We went back this morning and the quality of the food has gone way down. My GF toast was totally limp and cold, home fries were overcooked and the eggs were tasteless. Also, only 1 tiny wee piece of cantelope was the fruit. Was supposed to come with baked beans and I did not get any. My husbands meal was also disappointing, at least his toast was warm. Bill was $30 plus, for 2. We will not go back.

We ordered breakfast takeout this morning. Two orders of eggs Benedict with turkey bacon for $15 (+?) and an order of pancakes ($10 for 3). The food was cooked well but the quantity was so little. Barely a handful of Hashbrowns. The eggs were tiny and the hollandaise sauce had no taste. The potatoes tasted good just so little of them. The pancakes were good but a little pricey. We spent $46 and we felt like we half portions. Sorry to leave a bad review.

I got the pea meal eggs Benny and it was mediocre at best. Hash browns were undercooked and small portion. Coffee is really good. Comparing it with breakfast places downtown cobourg it doesn t compete with the quality of food

Weekend breakfasts for me at Sunny Side Diner are always a tasty treat indeed. Friendly, terrific staff all around. Easily accessible for a fella like me on a cane. Enjoy ! I really only have good things to say about this place !

Honestly, I am incredibly disappointed. If you notice every 5 star review is from 6 months ago when they first opened - I had been so excited to try this place as when they opened I heard so many great things about it, but after trying it today it s quick to see they ve gone extremely downhill. They raised the prices from when I looked at their menu online, and the food was absolutely awful. The potatos tasted days old, they were stale, cold, and completely unappetizing - we couldn t even eat them. The portion sizes were incredibly small, the service was terrible took them over 10 minutes just to come around and get a drink order (and believe me, they weren t busy). It s not often we get out as a family for breakfast, and I m completely disappointed that we wasted our time and money at a place like this. It will definitely be Stacked from here on out, don t waste your time. I would give them a 0 star review if I could.

I ordered the 2 piece Haddock and Chips ($15.95). Waitress comes back saying they re sold out of Haddock and asked if Halibut was ok. I said sure. Never even saw Halibut or any other fish option on the menu. Waited over 40 minutes for the food even though the restaurant was empty, just us and one other table. Food arrived overcooked and dry. That s ok, it happens. If we told the waitress our food was overcooked, we would have had to wait another hour for a new meal. When the bill arrived, I see a $10 upgrade for changing the fish that they offered me because they were sold out of the only fish on their menu. Our waitress was very nice but why didn t she mention it was a $10 upgrade? $26 for overcooked fish and chips is a little much. Didn t want to argue but I feel robbed.

Cosy place & fresh food! I tried Fish & Chips it was tasty and quite fresh! The Poutine was also to die for Highly recommend!

05 28 2024 Stopped here for a late breakfast after an appointment downtown. Gotta say wasnt impressed. food was way overcooked. We both ordered the shredded potatoes with our meals and they were pretty much like eating unflavored hickory sticks, even my husband who likes his potatoes well done said they were over done. I had a toasted western, the egg was over fried to the point it was brown, and they deep fry their sausages, which also over cooks them. Needless to say, this was our last time going here

I agree with Christian Doig. I was here a week ago, for the first time, with a couple of friends. We all liked it. Its very clean and has a really good vibe. It did not seem to be as noisy as many restaurants I go to in Cobourg. An important consideration if you are a senior with hearing challenges. Sunny Side feels like a neighbourhood hang-out for regulars (and I plan to be one of them :) It is owned by a couple of women: one does the kitchen, the other does front. They have a nice patio on the side that I think would be shady in the early morning. They are open unil 3. And she told me they had pies! I remember she mentioned coconut cream :)

Good, old-fashioned diner. Good value.

Omg my first time there my breakfast was not even warm the shredded potatoes were hard as a rock the ham was sliced so thin by the time I got the ham it was hard as a rock. The toast was over toasted so it was hard the slice of orange was a end piece. The only thing that was hot were the beans. They did give me a bit of a discount but that really doesnt convince me to come back. We didnt get a second cup of coffee. Not impressed! :(

Pros: clean, best breakfast sausage, fair price Cons: half of my food was luke-cold and I wasn t checked on once to ensure food was ok, service unorganized (1 hard working server hustling, while the other 2 didn t quite leave the counter much) and so everything was very delayed and difficult to flag down servers

Such a great little spot! Great value for what they charge, as well. Their hashbrowns are amazing. I can t wait to go back and try more of their menu!

Honestly Im very confused about all these good reviews. The food was absolutely terrible, from the margarine smothered toast to the barely cooked home fries. The atmosphere is depressing and all I could smell-other than the grease-was a mix of air freshener and whatever the last person did in the bathroom. Waitress was great, thats the only good thing I can take out of that experience.

Excellent food, fast service, and so friendly. The new place to go for breakfast. Everyone should try it. The price of the meal was surprising. They make the best Bacon Sandwich ever, just like back home. We go every week to Sunnyside, just for the atmosphere and great food. Everyone please try it. you wont be let down. Negative comments for this new restaurant do not apply to Sunnyside, as there is nothing Negative about this lovely place. We as a family love it.

People are right about this place... This newer diner is hospitable, friendly + cost effective. Portions on menu are a lot but not too much that you feel like you are overeating. The atmosphere here is good + bright, not like other darker lit restaurants. A very good place and very nice staff... 2 thumbs up!

The food and service was great!! My fathers and I food was a little mixed up but that was no problem! My dad also got the wrong eggs but in all the food was great and the staff were really nice! Would go again!

Has breakfast this morning for the first time. Diner was bright and airy, lots of selection on menu. Staff friendly and efficient, and most importantly food was really good.

Great restaurant!! I took the kids out for lunch and we all loved it. Their burgers and poutine were wonderful and my feta & spinach eggs benny was fabulous!!

Came for brunch this past Sunday. Table of four $65.00. Portions were large and service was amazing and reasonably fast. I had the fish & chips and will absolutely order again. Even the Coleslaw was good.

Great Food.

We live around the corner so popped in for lunch. We ordered a burger/fries and a triple decker sandwich/fries. The burger and sandwich were good but the toast was not warm, and the fries were obviously not freshly made. They were not even warm and had the texture of fries that have been sitting around for a while. May have been reheated. Very disappointing. For $16 each I would have expected freshly made fries. Although the service was very good I m not sure I will return.

Best food and reasonably priced Friendly.staff and ownership. Worth the trip to Cobourg.Come hungry you ll leave satisfied.

We ordered fish and chips. Wasn t cooked. BLT sandwich and bacon was burnt. Took over an hour to get our food. Won t be going back. Servers were more interested in chatting amongst themselves than serving customers. There was a gentleman beside us trying to get the servers attention for more coffee and they just ignored him.

The bacon is amazing, the Greek salad was delicious - especially with such crisp, amazing, crunchy lettuce. The eggs came in shells, and came to my plate cooked without the shell. How amazing!

Thinking about quitting my day job just to spend more time here. Best breakfast in town with nicest staff. The grass is greener at sunny side. Food

Very good food reasonable prices

We have patiently been waiting to try this new restaurant since we have heard such good things. Unfortunately our experience on Saturday wasn t one for the books. After waiting over a half an hour to get our food, we were disappointed with soggy battered fish, jello like gravy on the poutine and a paper thin pancake for our child. The service wasn t awful, but it was very rushed. After what we did eat was finished it took 15 minutes for the bill to be brought over. I wish we could say it was a pleasant experience.

Delicious food, fast and friendly service and great atmosphere. Awesome prices and large quantities of food. Mine and my family s new regular go to spot for breakfast and lunch. Highly recommend !!!

Place was fantastic. Clean and super quick service and was surprised how fast it was with being packed. Lined up the whole hour that I was there and I can see why. The Benedict with homemade hollandaise was amazing! Will def be a regular spot for me:)

Made reservations for 11 and drove in from Newcastle to try this place on the weekend. The food was excellent. 3 of us had fish and chips and the rest had breakfast dishes. I up sized my fries for Sunny s poutine. It was delicious and took some home as the portions were large. We will be back!

Weve driven by the diner many times and always wanted to check it out. Well today we had the chance to, and we very happily suprised at how at home it felt and very happy atmosphere. The food was great and the service was even better. We went in for breakfast and honestly didnt even think of lunch lol, big breakfast cant beat it. Looking forward to experiencing lunch some time. Really cute inside . There was 3 of us and our food came separate. All our meals were cold bacon was gross. When I tried to talk to the owner she brushed me off to the waitress. Very bad behavior. Not impressed. . Food

Just opened and it s my new go to breakfast spot. Staff was friendly and food was tasty. Biggest plus was the amount of food for cheap cost.

I m not one to normally leave reviews, but I ve been in for breakfast now twice since they ve opened. Both times the food has been great and very home style . They went above and beyond on the portions for the price and the service was welcoming both times. I ll certainly be a return customer, I appreciate a hometown crew serving the community!

The food here is great with very reasonable prices. As well the staff were very friendly. I will definitely be back, especially because its kid friendly. Kid-friendliness: Brought my 11 month old son and 4 year old daughter. Their were no issues and the staff were very friendly with them

Went out for early lunch / late breakfast. My first time having eggs benedict (was delicious!!!). Portion size was great, service was great. Will defiantly check them out again. :)
