HORRIBLE HORRIBLE! We walked in, no greeting, we sat at the table for 5 mins and no one came over . The place wasn t even busy, but the waitress managed to tell others who entered after us that they were only open for drinks..well thanks for the washroom I guess. If I could leave negative stars, I would.

When we walked in we were the only people there overheard the workers at the bar saying that all their drinks except the ginger ale was expired after i already ordered a pepsi and drank it food was okay tasting the wings were super greasy and gave me food poisoning.

This is the place to come and relax! Tasty treats, picnic tables, and beers. Worth the visit!

We had the Ale house burgers . They were delicious and well done just the way we like them. We sat outside so not sure about the atmosphere. Best burger I have had in a very long time

I ve been coming here for many years! A great place to enjoy great pub food and the best pricing then anywhere else compared. Wine and Beer menu is really good ( wine pricing is even better ). So many great dishes!

Decent enough place. Usually pretty dead. Food is pretty good, but watch out for extra charges. Was charged $2 extra for hotsauce for my food, without being told I would be charged for it.

Server was rude, understaffed, had no budlight, had no Mac n cheese (that s reason we went there) burger was burnt to a crisp and like a quarter of a burger.toooo top it off I believe it was the owner sitting at bar and over heard her say still haven t caught that mouse that was running around the kitchen last night disgusting.

After going to the beach today we were looking for a place with a patio. We decided to try The Ale House. So glad we did. Rachel, our waitress, was friendly and helpful. The food was great and prices reasonable. We will definitely be going back.

For a place called the Ale house, I expected more than the standard 6 beers on top that any chain restaurant offers. Food was OK, they knowingly brought out an incorrect order and asked if we would accept it rather than correcting the mistake when it was noticed. Salad had way too much dressing.

Honestly this place had me dumbfounded. The server was so annoyed when we (group of 6) walked in at 4pm on a Saturday to a empty bar (2 what looked like reg. Sitting at the bar). The food was well priced and decent. Def a good budget option if you dont care about the serves attitude.

The good and the bad....our server was friendly and fairly attentive. The burgers and fries were excellent! I ordered a long Island iced tea but couldnt taste any alcohol at all and I tend to like my drinks weak so I would have tasted it. Instead of having another drink, I just got a pop instead due to the weak pour. Dessert was tasty (deep fried Nanaimo bar), but any kind of plate presentation would have added to it. It just came naked on a plate. Prices are good here and the location/atmosphere was enjoyable as well. We would go back but just not order alcoholic beverages

My friend and I went here for lunch and honestly it was kind of gross. Portions were pretty small, but prices were decent. I think its a good place to go for drinks (and maybe dessert), but not food. Our server was really nice and friendly, which is why I gave it 3 stars instead of 2.

The staff and customers were very friendly and there are plenty of screens to watch sports. The poutine was good and the ckicken wings were ok but they were somewhat small and the quantity was not great for the price. Also, they charge extra for hot sauce. With most pubs, veges and dip and hot sauce is included. Not here, they are extra. On a positive note, the blue cheese dressing is homemade and the best I have ever had.

Todd and staff are doing an excellent job. This place has a modest priced menu with lots of variety. Small app choices for when you want a beer or two or a full meal if it fancy s you! Haha that rhymes! ;)

Found this place by accident. Great selection of food at good prices. The entire meal was tasty. Will definitely be going back and would recommend this place to anyone in the area.

Everything was just ok...food was mediocre...seating is awkward...service was soso...its off the beaten path so easy to miss and there is only on street parking with meters.

Took our Dad there for his 94th. Things were great. Going back for wing night.

Super and friendly service at a nice homey pub. This pub has great food at reasonable prices (most meals are priced around $11-$12). Big Bobs fish and chips was very good. Fish was of good size and was served fresh and hot. The service was super friendly and very accommodating. They even opened up early so our minor hockey team could eat between games! A big thanks! Very close to the lake front. Would make a fantastic food establishment to visit after a walk in the summer.

The Ale house is a great place for food and beverages. The Owner Todd is always around and all of the staff go out of their way to make you feel at home. There is a great selection of beer and spirits. The food and drinks are reasonably priced and it a good place to spend an hour or two! Love the cheesy fries!

As a local, I love that this is an amazing locally owned bar and restaurant. The atmosphere is second to none and the food is even better. They have many options not found anywhere else, such as vegetarian and vegan options for burgers and wings. The fish tacos....wow. The staff is really great, attentive and always friendly. A great place to spend your evening.

Service was good (Nicole). I had the Portobello mushroom burger which had a great taste. I couldve easily had two of them. The rest of my party had more traditional food and they had bigger portions.

Pleasantly surprised by this diner/pub style restaurant. Went there after being turned away from 2 other restaurants who closed early on the holiday. Really friendly service, cozy atmosphere, and a very budget friendly menu that still boasts freshness and quality. Between the 5 of us we had a couple burgers, the club sandwich, and the hummus trio. All made fresh and homemade (seriously the burgers are great). We couldnt believe the prices, also very affordable bottles of wine. I really hope these guys stay in business because this gem is such a rare find. Will definitely go back the next time were in town, highly recommend, best food in Cobourg by far.

Owner kept tips and decided not to pay me for last shift. Claimed I was training although I fully served tables from start to finish. It is now 5 days past our payday (which Ive received direct deposit before) and have not received paycheck or gratuities. No way to run a small business with a an employee of the industry for 23 years. No way to treat any staff member.

Good service and some amazing food here. We got there on a quiet day and had the place to ourselves. Tried the ribs and chicken. Asked for the spicy versions and they were delicious.

Came in with my Dad and brother for the FIFA World Cup Final between Croatia and France. Awesome that the place opened early for game watchers. The service was friendly and quick from the moment we entered to the moment we left. Great relaxed atmosphere, cant comment on the food, as the kitchen was closed during the game, but will definitely be back to give it a try. Nice place and since it is so close to the beach, definitely worth a visit. Only thing I would recommend is a bigger sign outside, as I had a bit of trouble actually locating it while driving down the street. A hidden treasure, but worth the trip.

Love the decor , the tables , the bar , staff was great sevice was great lots of smiles no grumpy people there just to make a paycheque and i ate the challange wings in less than 10 mins and got a cool hat to prove it ill my wife had the fish and chips fish was excellent ill go back for sure next time i going to order the peppercorn burger im sure it too will be delishious. Well actually impressed with the atmospherein the room its like the good ole boys serving up good food and conversation with a cold draft and whateversport ya wanna watch. Add a crispy dorito wing and a 3rd of an amazing sand on marble rye. Good job Oberholtzers with the ale house
