The Texas Gate is where its at.

Just went into the restaurant side but the beer was good, actually had life too it and wasnt flat. And the food was really good, homely and worth the money in my opinion

Amazing place to be at, staff members are the most amazing people here. We, come here almost every month, and every time we experience excellent service, great food and cozy environment.

The Texas Gate is a fantastic restaurant & Bar . Beers were cool. The food big portion and well done. Music was quality but, the service was fast and amazing. Prices are OK. EXCELLENT PLACE I will come back soon. Tip: Sunday especial is spaguetti all you can eat.

The 4/5 star is because of the Caesar sald we had. Other than that, wow, brisket beef dip, 10/10!! Leslie was our server my first day, and I can not say enough wonderful things about that lady. Youll never find better or friendlier staff than this place. Vegetarian options: As a vegetarian, they were more than accommodating. Loved the cheese quesadilla.

Schnitzels are good, portions are very generous, service is good and polite, however steaks are not at all what we were expecting for a steak house, pretty bland and dry.

Just when I thought I found a good spot to hang out on this day October 6th 2024. I was told by the bar tender that I cannot stay in the establishment because I didnt present an identification. I felt do embarrassed because I was talking to another bartender when she but in. I am much older than her I was joking with security then showed my ID. I proceed to the bar area when whoever her name is said sir you have to leave because you didnt present an ID. Everyone else said to me its ok for me to stay. I felt very bad because I was the only black man in there. I exited and showed my ID to security again. I went over to ducks and had a good time. I cant believe this the same bar I spent my 48th birthday playing pool and having fun. Now I feel like going back there with a placard saying Racist.)

Found an amazing gem!! Im not a frequent reviewer but couldnt hold back. Came to Cochrane for a day and ended up at Texas Gate for dinner. Great portion size and delicious food. I was excited to see line dancing happening on a Tuesday night, and as the coach was so welcoming, I ended up joining the group and had good fun. Staff was excellent and shared details about their daily specials and upcoming events. Loved the vibe! Its on my list for a revisit. Nice to see how a historic little town has so much culture and heritage to offer. Highly recommend!!

Waited for over 10 minutes to get served. Not even so much as an acknowledgement from one of the 2 servers walking by. Could clearly see the staff were overwhelmed and busy, and they definitely werent staffed properly for a long weekend monday. But someone could have taken 5 seconds to bring us a menu and say hello. After a table that came in 10 minutes after us got service before us and the server just raced by us without even looking at us again. We got up and left. Went to half hitch brewery a few blocks away and they were also busy, but we received friendly, fast, great service and the food there was amazing.

We stopped in for lunch, and were appalled by all of the flies! Flies everywhere and food was unknowable with them landing on every surface. When our waitress came over and asked how things were, the fly situation was mentioned. Her response was that they have to keep the doors open or else they are too hot..... What about the customer who pays for the food? I guess the flies are an added bonus. Yuck!

A lady working here started cursing at a child on the side of the road to leave when the parents were only pulling over because of their child s stomach flu. Integrity is a foundation of good business.

Always a great stop after a ride

We arrived as an out of town group with no reservations, we were served quickly and by an amazing waitress that was very patient with our group a number of which English is not there first language. Thank you for your amazing service and patience !!

Do not order the Caesar wrap, a bunch of the lettuce was gone bad the rest was wilted. No dressing in the one side Service very slow, was not busy on either the bar side or the restaurant side.

went for saturday lunch, the service was good but the fish and chips made my husband sick which is not surprising as the fish seemed undercooked and greasy, french fries were frozen fries from a bag although they were ok. french toast was too sweet with canned fruit on top. was never asked how the food was during or after the meal

Walked in, sat at the patio for 20 mins, many staff members walked by us and served the tables around us, but no one checked on us. Gave up after 20 mins and left.

Our group of 12 had an excellent time here. The service was outstanding, with attentive and friendly staff ensuring we were well taken care of throughout the time. The patio was a highlight comfortable and well-maintained, making it a perfect spot for relaxing and socializing. The food was delicious, with a variety of options that everyone enjoyed. We will definitely be visiting again! Highly recommend for both small and large groups.

Good wings - got the red hot and blue. Would love if they could start serving ginger beer. Vegetarian options: Veggie quesadilla

Had dinner here the other day with my parents for the first time. We ordered the Soup of the day which was the hamburger soup, it was alright. We also ordered the Honey Garlic Wings and Fish and Chips. The wings was okay, but the Fish and Chips was Amazing! The fish was crispy on the outside and soft and juicy on the inside. The tartar sauce was good, the fries and gravy was also good! Will definitely be back for more!

What a great experience !! Showed up with a whole hockey team worth of kids and parents and we got such prompt and excellent food and service. Highly recommend any teams looking for a place to go to try them out. Hope to be back :)!!

We were just wanting to have a nice meal which we did the ambience was quite nice, but the service was not acceptable, we ordered wings and we received an answer we weren t expecting to hear, she asked us Do you guys have money which we were really appalled by the question. Then proceeds to act nice towards us after she found out we had money for all of us. Not acceptable we come to this place every once in a while and the service is always good but today was not it. I m not sure of her name but, she wore glasses and short dirty blonde hair. We decided not to tip and her smile disappeared right away, will not be coming back

Ribs and apple pie to die for

There was a misunderstanding with a catered wing order we had for my husbands birthday, but Mark called to discuss how things can be made right. I was very impressed with his professionalism and honesty and look forward to continuing to support the Gate. The food is great and so is the service.

The food was awesome! However, Im only giving 2 stars because we had to wait almost an hour for our food to come out. I felt so sorry for our poor waiter, as he was running his butt off. Maybe the management here should consider hiring more staff for the lunch rush.

The food was overcooked. The table next to us made a complaint about their steak also. I didnt get what I ordered. The waitress really didnt seem to have a good handle on her job. Perhaps, it was her first day. We were disappointed.

So obviously, the Texas gate thinks that the Stanley Cup happens every week. Because I went there last night to watch the hockey game because it could ve been the last game for Edmonton and the waitress said in 20 minutes line dancing starts and they turn the sound off Well, there was probably 80 people there for the hockey game and four people for line dancing so just because line dancing happens every Tuesday. I m sure they could ve held off until the game was over. The sad part is I ve noticed that restaurants are closing down in COCHRANE and when you do stupid things like this and you lose customers over stupidity that s why restaurants close down So I won t be going back to Texas I won t as one person make this company fold, but maybe they need to wake up and cater to the people that keep them in business not four line dancers

I gave this place a 5 star review in Oct 2023. Was there this past weekend & brought the family to celebrate Birthdays & Mothers Day.....no where near as good as it was last time. Food was just ok. Very disappointing as I raved about how good it was. As soon as we arrived we were advised once we order food it will be at least 1/2 an hour as the patio was open.....food wasnt hot when we did get it, sent the fish tacos back, they tasted off and did not look good. Maybe it was the time of day and food is better after 4pm.....wont be back for a while

Food is always great, love the variety! Service this time was actually horible but the rest of the team was helping to make things decent so I will give extra credit where due! It is a bar, so it is dark and a bit on the older side, but we knew that! We go for the burgers and beer!! Perfect place for it!!

Stopped in (first time) with my son for lunch yesterday. Great service, Unbelievable food. My son had the 12 oz Steak, Caesar salad to start, also came with a generous portion of cooked vegetables and a generous portion of mashed potatoes and gravy (potato choice) along with Texas garlic toast. I had the 9oz burger with side salad ($2.00 extra) and it was cooked perfectly. Thanks and we ll be back asap.

Pretty cool looking saloon, I would like to check it out on a weekend night. The food was really good, the fries were a little greasy, but otherwise good, and the portions were huge! Very friendly service who seem to care a lot about the business and their customers, which is nice to see.

Disappointing Experience with Overcooked Steak I recently visited the Texas Gate in Cochrane, excited to try their steak. Unfortunately, my experience fell short of expectations. I ordered a steak medium rare, but it arrived dry and overcooked. When I addressed this issue with the staff, hoping for a resolution, I was informed that sending it back would result in being charged for another steak. This response was disappointing and not in line with the customer service I had hoped for. While I understand that mistakes can happen in any kitchen, the handling of this situation was unsatisfactory. I hope this feedback helps improve future dining experiences for others. I have had good experiences in, so I hope its just this one cook, and I hope things get better because it is a fun place I enjoy.

Stayed here for a couple months, as I had work in town. This place has the best of everything; from food to comfort and the staff there are by far, what makes this place oustanding. Thanks to Mark, Michelle and all the staff for an amazing stay. Food

We stopped in after our young kids had a hockey game. Naturally they were being a little loud, and having fun! The staff were so welcoming, great service and they didn t make us feel ashamed for bringing our kids into the resturant! Thank you! Will definitely be back when I visit Cochrane next!!

Absolutely wonderful prime rib roast! Friday and Saturday special!

We came one afternoon for a steak sandwich and were so pleased we came back the next day for the all you can eat fish and chips. Best fish and chips I have ever had. Thin but very crisp Atlantic cod was a pleasure to eat.

My husband and I stopped in for dinner and a beer and we were thrilled with the food and service! The food was delicious and well portioned. We both had the chicken schnitzel with spazle, YUMMY!!!! And I was delighted with how much charm was packed into the atmosphere! We are definitely big fans and will be back!

Lovely fish and chips. They serve you extra fried fish upon request, you dont need to order fries or finish your existing fries for a refill. The batter was nice and was a thick slice of fish. Comes with a gravy, tartar sauce and a rub ( spiced bread crumbs )

Brother and me popped in for dinner. Brother had all you can eat fish and chips. I had the steak sandwich. I was very happy with the sandwich. My brother was slightly disappointed with the quality of the fish but he used to work on a fishing boat. So his standards were quite high.

Good food at great prices. Different specials every day. Weve been here often and can recommend the steak sandwich, fish and chips, and avocado smash toast. Fries here are really good. Salads are not the best (limp, indifferent, and poorly dressed). Great selection of beer on tap. Nice atmosphere. HOWEVER: Be aware that if you ask for substitutions. (Eg. Salad instead of fries, there is a surcharge and the staff doesnt tell you this.) Also, if you ask for sauce with the wings. (Eg. Blue cheese dip to go with Buffalo wings.) They charge $1.50 for a tiny paper Dixie cup of dip. Parking: Street parking is free. Kid-friendliness: Kids are welcome in the dining room, and on the patio.

We stopped in town for ice cream and decided to grab a bite to eat across the street. The energy and atmosphere were so positive and the food had a home cooked feel, we will add this to part of our trip next time!

Stopped in for a bite on my lunch break, and had one of the best burgers Ive ever had. Could tell the burger patty was homemade and cooked perfectly. My server was very friendly and had great recommendations. Ill definitely be back.

Great patio and wings/taco special, $15 all you can eat Mon-Wed. Both fab choices. A definite go too for locals and visitors alike.

Worth the drive from Calgary!! Weve been to this place a couple of times and it has always been above and beyond!! The quality of the food is absolutely amazing, its fresh, so delicious, generous portions, and the prices are great. Service is also outstanding. Highly recommended!!

Veronica was very rude during my visit, unlikely to come again.

Everything was good, except my server, Veronica, was quite rude and made my visit a lot less memorable.

I really like this place. Staff is really friendly the food is good and reasonably priced. Its an old school bar with some pool tables lots of TVs to watch the game good choice of drinks. They make a killer spicy Caesar. All you can eat wings.... awesome.

Great bar and restaurant with incredible food. The portions were huge especially the all day breakfasts. The only thing ordered that was not huge was the chicken fingers only three small ones. This is THE place to eat in downtown Cochrane. Parking: Free street parking but do not park where the curb is painted yellow or you might get a ticket.

Such loud music, then clients had to shout above the music, impossible to hear friends at our table. Because of this we wont be back despite great fish and chips and well kept beers

Cool buddy bar to hang out at especially during the all you can eat specials. Sundays is free pool night too which is always a riot with some friends Kid-friendliness: The diner is kid friendly all day, the bar side is not due to the VLT machines

A very entertaining and familiar place

A walk back in time. This place is over 100 years old. Food is good and reasonable. Staff are wonderful. The place is just fun! Great to sit and have a beer and watch a line dancing class. There is also Karaoke and live bands.

Beautiful place, dark, wooded, decorated in 60s fashion, the smell of an old tavern still lingers. Good service, nice and attentive waiters, the food is ok, nothing too complicated actually. Prices are reasonable. There are pool tables and slot machines.

The breakfasts here are INSANELY good. Definately the best in town. Staff is very friendly and helpful. If you live here you already know the place but if you re visiting, it s a must ! Also, breakfasts are all day and there is many promotions everyday.

I feel bad leaving this place a poor review because our waiter was friendly, but the food and atmosphere seriously didnt live up to the price. Not only did the food take a long time to arrive, we kept getting attacked by flies every ten seconds while we were waiting to the point where we had to move to a different table to try and get away from them. We had to bat away the flies every other minute while we were trying to eat. My friends artichoke spinach dip was incredibly lackluster, had a layer of oil on top of it and the chips tasted like they came from the grocery store. My turkey clubhouse sandwich also looked and tasted like something I easily couldve made at home. Wont be coming back.

The food and service is amazing! There s only one thing missing at least one TV in the bar with the Cowboy Channel or rodeo playing at all times!

I ordered a burger with all the fixings, and a poutine. The poutine was so good, loved the gravy. My burger while looking good was a bit sloppy, i cut it in half to make it easier and it was pretty pink all through out, sent it back and had it remade. Its a bit of a long wait for just a burger but it came out looking cooked through and tasted great. The waitress was nice and attentive. Could do something about all the flies in there, thats kind of gross.

We are Australians visiting Crochane for a family wedding. Had a couple of good nights at the Texas Gate Bar & Grill. Our accommodation was walking distance, so it was very convenient for dinner, drinks and a game of pool. This place really showed us how Canadians live and party. Highly recommend

We have ordered take a few times. It is our go to for chicken schnitzel. It comes with mash potatoes, veg and a Cesar salad along with garlic bread. The gravy with mushrooms is awesome. Great service. When we get desert it is a favourite with the German chocolate cake and Saskatoon pie!!!

Great atmosphere and amazing food. All you can eat fish tacos for 14 bucks yum. This very beautiful young woman was waitressing all herself. She was knocking it out for excellent service. Do not pass this place up

Huge shout out to Amanda! We come here every Friday morning for a hot breakfast, coffee and conversation! Amanda is AMAZING and remembers all 20+ meals without asking.

The all you can eat wings are AMAZING and at a great price too.

The waiters are impeccable they come right to your service and never get your order wrong and definitely the best bar in Cochran. The seating is also incredibly comforting with cushioned backrests Wheelchair accessibility: In the bathrooms theyre are amazing wheelchair accessible and the toilet paper is three-ply very nice

My husband and I went in here for a late lunch today and it was amazing!!! We went in around 2:30pm and were attended to by such an awesome lady (we didn t catch her name but I believe she mentioned she has 3 children). She is a ray of sunshine personified!! Outstanding service and the food was SO good!!! We were at The Cave Sauna just before so we were very hungry and this place was perfect! Highly recommend it and will definitely be back! Thank you!

Recently went in for their all you can eat fish and chips. Was pleasantly surprised by how good they were, actually they were the best fish and chips I ve had in a very long time! Will definitely be back.
