My friends and saw Aama while driving thru and decided to stop by, we did not realize we needed a reservation. It was not a problem as we were able to get a table. Service was amazing, the ladies running the restaurant are so kind and attentive. Food was amazing and worth the wait. We have never had Nepalese food before and we're just blown away with the flavors and presentation and overall atmosphere!
First time trying Nepalese food and it was tasty. I had never had momos before so I tried the most popular "Jhol momos" (chicken) and they were very fresh, presentation was awesome and the sauce was great too. We also had the Nepali Thali (chicken) and it was all really good, especially the chicken curry (was just enough for 2 people). The chicken, goat and lamb is all halal. The owner was very welcoming and personable/friendly and the rest of the staff too. Nice decor inside, cozy little place. I would recommend making a reservation on a weekend evening.
Wow , I recently had the pleasure of dining at Aama Nepali cuisine near Calgary, and I must say, it was an exceptional experience. From the moment we walked in, the warm and friendly service made us feel right at home. The staff were attentive and always ready to assist with a smile, which truly enhanced our dining experience. The food was nothing short of spectacular. Each dish was a delightful blend of flavors, showcasing the rich culinary heritage of Nepal. The presentation was equally impressive, with each plate meticulously crafted to please both the eyes and the palate. Special thank to the chef for their incredible effort in creating such visually stunning and delicious dishes. Our family thoroughly enjoyed every moment, and we left with our hearts and stomachs full. If you’re looking for a place that offers not just great food but also a welcoming atmosphere, definitely worth a visit. Me Being a chef and from Nepal love the vibe of this restaurant.
Absolutely incredible food. The best momos I’ve had in Canada. The staff were warm, friendly, personable and went out of their way to ensure our comfort and that we understood what the dishes were. The presentation was exquisite.
Wow, this place was amazing. Nice, clean, modern higher end Nepalese food. Having been to Nepal, I was excited to try Nepalese food again and I was blown away. This restaurant is incredibly special. Beautiful presentation and complex flavors. Had the Yak Ribs, Roasted Eggplant, Beet Salad, and Pork Jhol Momos. I can't wait to come back and try more menu items!! Outdoor seating in beautiful weather just added to it all!
Delicious food, wonderful atmosphere. The views are amazing here. Travelled from Calgary, and it was definitely worth the drive. The food is flavourful, the meat and veggies are spiced exceptionally. Finished off with a coconut dessert that was refreshing and not too sweet.
Do yourselves a favor and dine here! From start to finish, it was a great dining experience. We were greeted with a smile and seated promptly (reservations are encouraged, we made one on OpenTable). The food was delicious, and the servers were informative, inviting, and professional. Will update my review once we return to try more dishes. **you must try the iced tea, chicken momos, Butter chicken, and Pork chop!
Amazing food and great service! We always come here when we are in the area! The owners are so sweet! I specially love their Yak jhol momos and chili momos the most. The tea is here is so good as well! A must try!
5/5 stars! I had an incredible dining experience at Aama s! The atmosphere was cozy and calming, with exceptional service. But the real star of the show was the food - every dish we ordered was expertly prepared and bursting with flavor. Highly recommend the beet salad! Cant wait to come back and try more of the menu! Vegetarian options: Lots of variety
We had a chance to visit this gem of a restaurant serving the best Nepalese food. This is a husband and wife initiative to share Nepalese culture and heritage. Every dish tells a story. Definitely recommend to everyone looking for warm and nourishing food served with a big helping of love and kindness.
This place is a gem in Cochrane! We went for my birthday and had the most delightful evening. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, with cool decor. The staff are so sweet and kind, and love to share their culture. The food was divine, from the Momo starter to the Yak Thali plate. Really interesting flavours and beautifully presented. All paired with really good wine. And don t miss the house-made lemon honey ginger tea. We haven t had a dining experience this enjoyable in a long time.
Took our friends there for a late lunch, were a bit sceptical but all our suspension were quickly put to rest by the lovely ambience, friendly staff and delicious food. Food taste was authentic, quality was top notch and prices were reasonable. Would definitely visit again!
Food, service and atmosphere are always excellent!
The yak was amazing and was the chai tea. Enjoyed our return visit to Aama just as much as our first visit. We will be back.
Everything tasted amazing! Service was really good and quick.
Went for a late lunch, service was friendly and helpful. Food was amazing, great flavours and so many great textures to the different dishes, will definitely be back when in Cochrane. Vegetarian options: Plenty of vegetarian options available.
Best meal Ive had in many years. Guys were so polite and helpful. My friends from Scotland were so impressed as was I. Cant wait to go back.
Cozy, intimate. Attentive service and great food. Recommended!
A great family run restaurant. Food and cocktails were delightful. Flavors were fresh and tasty. We made the drive from Calgary and we would come back in a heartbeat. Momos and dinner platter were delightful
Its not good............its the best place for Nepalese Cuisine. The food, the service and the price are all as they should be... the cheery on the cake was their masala tea.. 10 stars from my end. A must visit.. Food
I have wanted to this restaurant for a while and finally did last night with a good friend. We had an amazing experience and meal. The dinner for two was perfect. We selected the goat. Next time we will try the Yak. The wine selections is excellent and it looks like there is some impressive cocktails. I will go back. Dietary restrictions: Good restaurant for those who are looking for a gluten free experience.
Absolutely amazing experience with delicious food, great service and beautiful environment. Super clean and makes you feel like your in Nepal. Owner is very sweet. Definitely will come back . *My husband is very picky with restaurants but this place he loved.
We picked this place just off Google maps with no idea what we were getting into. My Wife and Mother and 2 y/o can be picky eaters at times so I had my doubts heading in. As soon as we crossed the threshold we were greeted with friendly staff and one of the owners came over to welcome us. It felt like coming over to her house for dinner. The food was absolutely outstanding and the owner even described some of the traditional dishes for us just before we ate. Truly they will see us often and with more friends and family. Warm atmosphere, warm and kind staff and owners, and the prices were far better then we expected. Highly recommend coming to eat here :)
Decided to take a drive and try some different food. Shared some appetizers and desserts with mum and sister and all of us enjoyed what we ordered-particularly the lamb ribs and yak sausage. Server was a little overwhelmed but experience will take care of that. Would absolutely recommend for an amazing flavourful meal.
Great food! Helpful and welcoming staff. Nice cozy atmosphere. Will definitely be back
Best restaurant in Cochrane
Honestly one of the best restaurants 8 have eaten at in years!!! Me and my wife had such a wonderful time exploring Nepalese cuisine. Staff was friendly and knowledgeable. I would go back in a heartbeat
Amazing! The owner is a fantastic host, the food was perfect. The Cod with corn curry was the perfect balance of sweet and savoury! We did not feel the least bit rushed to finish our meals and were there for an experience versus a typical rushed dining of most chain restaurants. Truly a gem in Cochrane!
Lovely spot. The food is so good god and something new to try. Will go back for a third time soon. Dietary restrictions: Gluten free and dairy free available.
This restaurant has made me debate on moving to Cochrane just so I can eat here regularly. Im from Vancouver Island. Unbelievably delicious.
Very nice restaurant with a delightful waitress. Food was excellent.
Excellent and generous Nepalese cuisine. Our meat was incredible. We enjoyed all our dishes. The welcome is very friendly and professional. We were well advised to make our choice. We will come back with pleasure!
Food tastes amazing! Love their momos! And the people are soooo friendly! Highly recommend it! Food : 5/5
Went to check out their so called annual festival and was disappointed to say the least. I was curious what the hype was about and even sent a messaged to see if perhaps there were free tastings in line with the hype. They responded with a like to the message but instead it was deceiving to the annual cash grab event. The owner greeted us with a very excited smile and I could see why $$$$. I really dont understand what the difference is as oppose to just dining there any other day. The prices were pretty high. I would have gave them some business but being lied to just didnt sit well with me. Ps, just took a look at the other reviews with a $25 min spend and the greed makes so much sense. It would be the same price to fly to Nepal and eating momo s there.
My companion and I had never tried Nepalese food so decided to give it a try and were not disappointed. The staff was attentive and helpful with recommendations. We ordered 3 wonderful dishes, available in a choice of spiciness. The portions were not large but made up for that in quality. We would definitely go back next time in Cochrane.
Nice clean place and polite personnel. The food was great too. Attached is what I ordered. The yak momos, lamb meatballs, yam fries, the sargemba, and Aamas roasted eggplant were something Ill be coming back for. The roasted eggplant reminds me a lot of Imambayalda, which I like. Overall, I strongly recommend it!
This place was recommended to me by our sis. I wanna say this place food is amazing. It s so fresh , light and healthy I couldn t even describe it. Flavours taste so different and amazing I never tasted it before. Definitely coming back here when I ll be around town. Staff was amazing . I was amazed they baked there cake fresh when you order. It was marvellous experience.
Took a guest to lunch at this lovely restaurant. The layout and themed decor grabbed our attention when we entered. The restaurant is small, very clean, warm and welcoming. Our server was superb; attentive, knowledgeable, helpful but did not hover nor fuss. The owner/chef brought our food, steaming hot, fragrant, fresh ingredients out himself and chatted with us about how it was made and about traditional . The menu offers good variety. Food was good; carefully prepared. Very attractive and appetizing. The prices were fair. They take pride in providing good food and a good dining experience. I will definitely go back.
We had the most amazing meal and time at Aama last week. The food was authentic, and equally delicious. The owners were lovely and welcoming, and it was nice to hear about the Nepalese culture and cuisine. I highly recommend anyone to visit! 5 Stars!
Sooooo good! This restaurant is beautiful inside and the food is really fantastic. I went with work colleagues for lunch and we were all very impressed, we will all be back with family and friends. The attention to detail and quality of the food is truly value for money
Stunning gem of a restaurant! Food and service was absolutely amazing and would highly recommend
Having dined at several Nepalese restaurants across Canada, I had often been disappointed by their lack of authentic Nepalese cuisine. However, during our visit to Alberta, we had the pleasure of dining at Aama Nepalese Cuisine, where we experienced exceptional Nepalese food from various regions of Nepal. What stood out most was the freshness of the ingredients. Having grown up on farms with access to fresh meat and vegetables, I was reminded of those flavors at Aama Nepalese Cuisine. The ingredients were clearly free from preservatives and taste enhancers, delivering a remarkable taste. Furthermore, the pricing was surprisingly reasonable given the high quality of the food. The staff were exceptionally courteous, and the owner herself warmly welcomed us, assisted with our food selection, and inquired about our experience. Her attentiveness made us feel more like honored guests than mere customers, adding a genuine sense of hospitality and homeliness to our visit. Thank You for the Service
Amazingly good food, definitely worth a visit. Chef G was very friendly and the restaurant itself is very clean and welcoming. They did not cheap out when they decorated the restaurant. Highly recommend.
Wondeful food, everything was delicious and well seasoned. The cocktails with a Nepalese spin on them are very nice as well. We met the owner and her sister and they were very nice and welcoming.
A neighbour recommended this restaurant and my daughter decided she d like to celebrate her birthday at Aama. She loves yak and was curious as to the differences between Nepalese and Tibetan cuisine. We started off with fried yak momos. These are very tasty stuffed dumplings. We shared the Thali meal for 2. OMG! EVERYTHING was amazing!!! The yak was so tender and absolutely delicious. The buttered rice is unbelievably great. The two veggie dishes were fantastic. The spices and herbs used made for complex, interesting and phenomenal flavours. The service was great.
We went for a vine and dine event and it was fantastic. Food was excellent, service was amazing and the ambiance great. We really enjoyed our evening and will definitely be back.
Great environment and food 5/5!
Great food, great service and amazing ambiance
Wow, what an amazing piece of Nepal right in Cochrane. Beautiful restaurant, amazing food, very friendly staff. 10/10 recommend to come here.
Stumbled in and so happy we did, very clean and lovely decor. The service was outstanding, the owner helped make recommendations which were fantastic. The food was incredible!!! We had the soybean salad and yak dumplings to start, both fresh and so full of flavor. We then shared a platter and every single part of it was amazing, more than enough food for the two of us. Highly highly recommend checking this place out, you wont be disappointed!!
This place blew past my expectations, Im already thinking about when I can come back!Great experience, the owner was so friendly and spent time talking with us after the meal.
Its hard to order from Aama because deciding on the best dishes is impossible. I want to order one of everything. Tonite we got takeout and while the service was excellent, the food was absolutely incredible. These guys are an excellent addition to the neighborhood and Cochrane.
Beautifully decorated and clean restaurant with helpful and attentive staff and an incredibly flavourful menu. This is the restaurant to dine at if you want to showcase food in Cochrane or have something to celebrate. Today was the second time here and we got to try the Christmas set menu and it was amazing!
We had steamed yak Momos, curry chicken, and Aama iced tea for lunch. Food was very good, service was excellent. The two dishes were perfect for two for lunch.
Great place to eat authentic food. Family ran, very friendly staff. Amazing food (had the leg of lamb), beautiful environment.
It was great visiting Aalav Nepalise cousine, one of the best interiors, and had one of the delicious Momos we have ever tasted. Thanks, Jiju, for the best experience.
Oh my gosh, the food was immaculate, and the sticky toffee pudding is to die for. It is a MUST visit!
Aama best restaurant where I dine in Canada. We had steam chicken MO:MO and jhol, braised lamb ribs and chicken Sekuwa. Food is perfectly cooked with nice presentation of it, guest service, chef and server checking if everything is alright, ambience of restaurant, cleanness all perfect. Will b back again if we re around that area. Highly recommended .
On my recent visit, I had the pleasure of trying their chicken momos, and they were truly delightful. The restaurant has a warm and inviting atmosphere, with traditional Nepalese decor that sets the mood perfectly. The staff are friendly and attentive, making sure every guest feels welcome. Aama Nepalese cuisine is a must-visit for anyone looking to explore Nepalese cuisine. The chicken momos alone are worth the trip, but the rest of the menu offers plenty of delicious options as well. Whether you re new to Nepalese food or a longtime fan, this restaurant is sure to impress.
Best momos in town! Amazing food and atmosphere. The hosts are real nice people. Must visit. Will definitely come back. Vegetarian options: Great vegetarian options
Delicious Nepalese food, friendly staff and lovely atmosphere. We had the yak momo s (dumplings) and the dine-in meal for 2 with goat meat. For dessert, try the sticky toffee pudding. Yum! We ll be back.
Owner is chef, and food is fantastic. Its made with passion, chef traveled in Nepal during COVID to get ideas of unique recipes from the different regions and he has artfully presents each dish. They have good wine selection as well but we didnt get op to check it out. Next trip to Calgary /Banff we will be adding this place to stop over.
Delicious food! Kind, helpful and excellent service! Must try!
Wonderful! Food was exceptional, melt in your mouth delicious. This is a Husband and Wife team restaurant, he cooks and she serves She is delightful! I had Yak that was amazing, similar to Bison but fell of the bone delicious. The rice pudding took me way back to my Grandmothers. You must make a reservation and it is well worth it!
The dishes were very good, delicate yet complex flavors. The owners are super welcoming and friendly. The place is nicely decorated, full of color and taste. If you go to Cochrane (or live thete even ) go to this must try place. Nepalese Cuisine is not yet very well known, and this is the perfect place to begin
Wow.... didnt know what to expect when I went here, my wife found the restaurant. What a wonderful place! The restaurant was so beautiful, the people were so friendly and kind, it was such a great experience!! The food...... Holy it was incredible.... tried yak momos for the first time, delicious!!! Eat here, please lol you will not regret it!! 10/10 P.S. try the Chai tea..... best Ive ever had
The place is very very good. Food is very tasty and authentic We tried thukpa, momos and chow mein. These were really really good. The owners are really great and friendly. Definitely a must try
Stopped in on a whim and we were so pleasantly surprised. The decor and atmosphere is lovely, the service was also very kind and friendly but let s get to the food!!! So flavourful and wholesome. Would love to come back and try more things.
Dietary restrictions: Diary free and gluten-free options. Food
Hands down my wife and I had the best dining experience we ve had in recent memory. The food was unique, memorable and absolutely delicious. We love Indian food, and while this was reminiscent, it felt lighter and healthier with just as much flavor. 10/10 experience and I can t wait to come back!
Food here delightful and PACKED with flavour. I!! LOVE!!! MOMOS!! You should eat here and order momos. Chef/owner is a great man and cooks fantastic food. Also, Darood served us tonight and delivered impeccable service. Cocktails are good, but I thought the red wine paired best with the food. If you like colourful flavours and a welcoming atmosphere, you have to try aama!!
Definitely a unique experience! From the menu to the dining experience, it s beautiful! The owner will take the time to talk you through the menu and make excellent suggestions. Food
Fantastic food! The wait staff were very friendly and accommodating but they seemed way too busy to be attentive. We had ordered more beverages when our mains came but our server must have forgotten about them. When our server came back to check on us we had finished our meals but she did not bring our beverages. We decided not to mention it. We will be back though because all of the food was wonderful!
Amazing food, best momos in the Calgary area. Service was great despite being short staffed. They ve got a special thing here.
We have ordered out with them a few times and food was delicious but we knew dining in would be way better! And it was! Food and service were fantastic. Derood and Tara were attentive, informative and lovely. Food and wine were sensational! We are local and finally discovered this gem in Cochrane and will be back again soon!
We ve wanted to come here for a while and it was superb! We came a a weird time between normal lunch and dinner hours and they accommodated us so well! The food is incredible and I highly recommend trying some of the traditional options in the menu (just ask, they re very kind and will offer recommendations). Can t wait to come back and recommend to friends and family!
First time trying Nepalese food. IT WAS AMAZING! We re from Calgary and it s definitely worth the drive. I loved their home-made iced tea and hot sauce. Highly recommended! They were also pet friendly, too! We enjoyed our dinner with my dog at the patio.
It was col and yume
Worst experience Order food they gave is 30 minutes but waited for one hour and when asked the server showed us attitude and told us do we need the food or not. This was the worst customer service I have ever experienced Food : 1/5
Great Nepalese food. Staff are very courteous and friendly. Vegetarian options: There are few vegetarian options including Thali (meals) Food : 5/5 |
Now you said one person become rude but but but 35 minutes and but we came after 50 minutes and then you siad wait 5 minutes thats ok but we came back with our self after 10 minutes and then you said we are rude do have any kind of order taking policy or value of time wow really good hospitality
Authentic Nepalese Restaurant. Buddhist chanting in the background makes environment calm at the same time.
Food is really good and the service excellent. Nepali authentic foods are really worth eating.
Fantastic place! Highly recommend! Fabulous people!
During my trip to Banff and Calgary, I visited Amma Nepalese Cuisine and thoroughly enjoyed my experience. The ambiance was welcoming from the moment I walked in. The owner greeted us warmly and, noticing that we might be over-ordering, suggested reducing one Thali and opting for some appetizers instead. On her recommendation, we tried the eggplant-based appetizer, which was absolutely delicious. The honey chili potato was also outstanding and full of flavor. As a pleasant surprise, she served us complimentary soya chaat, which was another flavorful delight. While most of the food was excellent, the Paneer Momos were slightly disappointing; they were a bit dry and could have used more filling. However, the dessert more than made up for it. The kheer with gulab jamun was an awesome combination. The kheer was perfectly cooked with low sugar, complementing the gulab jamun as expected. Overall, I loved the place and the food. Amma Nepalese Cuisine is a must-try if you are in Calgary. The combination of delicious dishes, a cozy atmosphere, and the owner s personal touch makes it a standout dining destination.
Everytime Im in Alberta visiting my family Aamas is our go to! We usually go several times when we are there. The food is out of this world with flavor, the atmosphere is always so welcoming and wonderful and Tara and her staff make you feel like family. Always an amazing experience here and many more to come! Thank you for all you do and the amazing dishes you serve! Vegetarian options: Lots of wonderful vegetarian options on the menu Dietary restrictions: They have dishes for those who need gluten free options
Yak Momos were awesome!!!
Food was super tasty. All the dishes were cooked with homemade spices and ingredients. Lamb ribs was very soft and Goat meat curry was delicious. Being myself from Mithila region of Nepal, I got authentic Mithila cuisines such as Taruwa as well. Owners Mr. Gyanendra and Mrs. Tara s hospitality was very friendly and homely. Highly recommended.
We stopped in en route from Banff to Calgary. The food and service was outstanding- the momos (jhul and tandorri) were excellent. Hope we could come back one day!
The Momos here are the best! Even my 5 year old kept asking for more. Real flavours from my home country. We will recommend this restaurant to all.
Easily my favourite place in Cochrane. Love the food, love the people.
This is a hidden gem in Cochrane! The food is absolutely incredible. The atmosphere and decor is stunning, fine dining in a casual and comfortable environment. The service was amazing. Tara and the staff were kind, personable and so friendly. Cannot recommend enough. Our new favourite restaurant!!
I have no words for how incredible the food and entire atmosphere is here at Aama Nepalese Cuisine. We walked in and immediately adored the place, it is beautiful and elegant yet so peaceful with Om Mani Padme Hum mantra playing. Food arrived quickly but more importantly it was divine. My husband and I shared the yak sausage (which came in a curry with flat bread) and chicken momos jhol dumplings to begin. The flavors made our tongues dance. Probably one of the best curries we have, and the sauce the dumplings in was subtle. Shrimp chowmein followed which was equally wonderful with a very fresh flavor. Everything was so delicious I had to try a dessert, so went with the coconut rasmalai. What a perfect way to end the meal, not too sweet yet oh so delicious. Coming all the way for this meal was well worth it and we will be back again! Vegetarian options: Vegetarian options!! Parking: Lots of parking spaces
Came here for the first time absolutely AMAZING NEPLEASE restaurant. Service was wonderful food is amazing and staff are prompt and accommodating, I will recommend this restaurant to all my friends and family. Thank you Tara di and Chef G
The food, environment, staffs over there everything is just perfect. Yak sukuti ta jhan mukh Mai jhundeko xa. Thank you so much for the accommodation. Hope to see you soon again.
Where has this been all my life! If you like Indian food you will love this. It was so flavorful and had the perfect level of spice. I ate way too much and absolutely dont regret it... If anything I wish I could eat more. Honestly one of the best restaurants Ive found and experienced in a long time!
This only thing negative about this experience is that I cant give this place more than 5 stars. My friend and I went there for a girls catch up dinner and decided to try something completely new for both of us. After we ordered many items as per recommended from our server, one of the owner who heard it was our first time trying Nepalese food, came by with a complimentary roasted soybean salad to get us started and told us about the backstory of her childhood and this specific salad. Our first bite at this restaurant was just mind blowing. Then as recommended by our server, the Yak Momos arrived with a side of spicy chili sauce. It took us a moment to understand what had just happened to us, but we can only explain it by we died and came back to life. I never thought I would feel this way about dumplings?... Then our Mains arrived. I ordered the Butter Chicken and my friend ordered the Lamb Shank. After what we had tasted, I was a bit afraid I had underplayed my choice with the Butter Chicken. Was I ever wrong. It was the most tender (I could easily cut the chicken with my spoon), and flavourful Butter Chicken Ive ever had. The naan bread was also probably the best, most authentic Ive had, which makes me question my whole food experience before this place. The lamb was so tender, my friend pulled the bone out without any effort. The flavours of the meat alone were unexplainably, perfectly balanced. The yogurt sauce was fresh and zesty, the veggies were cooked to absolute perfection... We we barely able to talk; our brains were short-circuiting from the flavours we were tasting. Although extremely filling, we couldnt stop there, so we ordered the rice pudding for dessert and it was such a beautiful twist on the typical puddings you can find: not thick, vanilla tasting or extremely sweet, and the toppings made it whole. The service was THE BEST Ive had in... ages. Our server ended up being a red seal chef on medical leave for an injury and it was his first day serving. We were completely in shock; he was a pro. Basically, the whole experience was one for the books. This is my new favourite place. Definitely going there for my next date nights!... We were there to catch up and vent about our problems together, but we didnt even need to vent. This fixed all of our problems!! hahaha! I wholeheartedly recommend this place.
**Review:** I regularly dine at this fantastic Nepalese restaurant, and it never fails to impress! The food is simply outstanding each dish bursting with authentic flavors and cooked to perfection. From the momos to the lamb shanks and yak rib, every bite is a delight , truly showcasing the culinary skills of Chef Gyanendra, who is exceptional and brings a masterful touch to every dish. The service is impeccable, with the staff being incredibly attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu. The warm and inviting atmosphere makes each visit even more enjoyable. I highly recommend this gem of a restaurant to anyone looking for an extraordinary culinary experience. Ill definitely keep coming back!
By far one of the best restaurants in Cochrane!
it was a fantastic experience! The food was incredibly tasty and full of authentic Nepalese flavors. The boss was so friendly and made us feel like part of the family. The service was also top-notch everyone was super attentive and kind. If youre looking for a great place with delicious food and wonderful people, this is it!
Very delicious food! Quiet, comfortable, beautiful decor. Many Veg/GF options clearly marked. Definitely check this place out!
This is a real gem in the town of Cochrane, the food is expertly crafted, chef inspired with the outstanding savoury flavours unique to Nepal. The decor and service are warm and welcoming, the menu features a wide range of local and Nepalese sourced products with an assortment of vegan, vegetarian options making this an easy choice to share this outstanding dining experience with friends and family of all ages and make sure you leave room for one of their decadent treats.
Very good and creative food. Have been here twice over the last couple of weeks and everything weve had has been good. Just dont be in a hurry. This last time it took almost an hour just to get our drink order - an hour and a half to start the food. I would, however, recommend it.
5 star place, food, and service. Served by authentic Nepali people.
The food was mindblowing good and the owner is very lovely Kid-friendliness: Very kind owner! Food : 5/5 |
Never been to a Nepalese restaurant and glad my first experience was here! Food was so good. We got the Momos, eggplant, and lamb leg. The owner was so nice and explained many of the dishes really thoroughly, helping us choose ones that fit our tastes. The only thing we didnt like was the rice pudding dessert, but probably just cuz we werent used to it.
What a wonderful experience at Aama! The restaurant is beautiful, the food is delicious and flavourful and the staff is so welcoming. From chef recommendations to learning about traditional Nepalese dishes and ingredients the Aama team made it such a special experience. Highly recommend!!
The best authentic Nepalese food I ve tasted since visiting Nepal. The spiced tea with butter is a must! Friendly and fast service and the restaurant is beautiful. We left happy and full of momos. Will be returning!
Id return for the lamb dry ribs alone! A friend recommended this place and she was so right. Great food, really pleasant atmosphere. Most dishes were new to me and everything was delicious. Will definitely keep this place in mind as a great food stop en route to the mountains. Worth going out of your way to check out.
Great food Great service Food
I took a chance on a new restaurant in Cochrane for my husbands birthday and Im sure glad I did. The food is healthy, exciting and delicious, well cooked and presented ever-so-thoughtfully on beautiful tableware. The atmosphere is lovely and the place is clean and welcoming. I will definately return.
On our way back from Banff, we found an incredible restaurant with a welcoming owner, delightful ambience, excellent cleanliness, and an open kitchen. The food was absolutely delicious, making it an unforgettable dining experience. Highly recommended!
This was our first time trying Nepalese food, and Im so happy we had the opportunity to have it ay Aama! A place that serves food as if you were eating at a five-star hotel but provides the taste as you would find at home - simple yet fingerlicking delicious. We are based out of Ontario, and now I cant wait to get back to Cochrane to have the food again.
We got the steamed chicken momos and the butter chicken both were a 6.5/10, service was an 8/10.
Delicious food, amazing atmosphere and great customer service. Best nepali thalli in Canada hands down. Will be going back and recommending others 100%.
Aama offers an outstanding dining experience. The food is delicious, with fresh ingredients and beautifully presented dishes. The owner was extremely kind, attentive and knowledgeable, and the ambiance is both elegant and cozy. Highly recommended for a memorable meal!
One of the best Nepalese restaurants in Cochrane.... very close to Calgary, NW. The food was incredibly good. We ordered lamb short rib, tandoori chicken momo & chicken steamed momo as an appetizer & Nepali thali with goat meat. The thali was so delicious. There is no kids menu available. Outdoor seating is available.
I booked a table for two for our anniversary, I was hoping for something special. The food was OK, some interesting flavours from the Yak platter for two, but such small portions of each dish and enough rice for one! With one drink each, tax and tip the bill was well over $100. Service was terrible, the poor guy was all by himself and rushed off his feet. It took a long time to get seated and even longer to get a sticky, unsanitized menu pulled from the neighbouring guests. Once the food was delivered we never again saw the server until it was time to pay. At no time were we warmly greeted or given any information about Aama, Nepalese food nor a description of what was on the menu.
Absolutely delicious, I recommend any one in the area to try. I especially loved the Himalayan lava cake with vanilla ice cream.
Small neighborhood gem. We had the veg momos, yak platter, yak shortribs, and butter chicken. All were really good!!!!!
Went in for lunch, really good ambience and set up . Sat around for some time , the waiter walked by and around us a few times and ignored us . Not worth spending my money . We walked away and saved us the $32 curry rice dish for that level of service. Full points for the decor, table and fancy cutlery. Sorry not worthy of my second visit.
The food was good, however, we spent 40 minutes out of the hour we were there on waiting. It took very long to just get the menu and another 10 minutes for someone to come around and take our order.
Absolutely delicious!! It was our first time trying this restaurant and we were blown away! Must try! It is a bit pricey so be aware of that but everything else is 10/10!!
Amazing food and even better service. Will definitely return.
Best restaurant food Ive had in a long time. I cant wait to come back. Dont sleep on this one, its the best restaurant in Cochrane
Great food and service. Everything was delicious!!! Definitely I will come back to try more dishes.
What .. an .amazing ..dining experience . Phenomenal food, service and experience .
We came in to try out this on a road trip and had to wait quite some time for the orders to be taken. The person who came to our table was quite arrogant and told us they have a minimum order of $20 per person. She even advised us that people have left the restaurant because of this rule. It seems unfair to the customers. I would not visit again.
I came in with three others only be advised by the server that she wont take orders unless they are a minimum of $20 otherwise she wont serve us which was not mentioned on the menu or anywhere else in restaurant. It seemed DISCRIMINATION and an UNFAIR PRACTICE . We were advised by the arrogant server that didnt bother coming to our table for 10 minutes that we were welcome to leave on our own accord.
The food was authentic delicious and visually appealing. Must try
These guys are doing it right. You walk in and are surrounded by incredible smells and a lovely dining room. The service is incredible, it felt like being hosted at a friends for dinner. The food...its homey, its hearty, its absolutely delicious. Everything we tried was great. Honestly you do yourself a disservice by not checking this place out and enjoying the entire experience they offer.
I don t know what it is about Cochrane, but every time I go, the customer service is so amazing. This place was a great find. Beautiful little place with great food, and friendly attentive customer service. Best momos I ve had. Every dish we tried was unbelievable.
Amazing experience at this beautiful restaurant. Ambiance and staff were very polite and respectful. Talking about food, it is going to be my and my boyfriends go to place always! Jhol, chilli, and tandoori momos were ! Must visit! Food
Fantastic lunch experience.
Absolutely delicious authentic dishes, so much variety, the hostess is delightful in welcoming all, the chefs true culinary expertise, classy ambience yet comfortable, we left fully satiated and could not believe we spent over 2 hours of pure enjoyment - a true local blessing to have in our community! Vegetarian options: Lots of delicious choices
We are visiting from Wyoming and had never had Nepalese food before. It was recommended by a friend of ours and it was well worth it!! The food and service was absolutely amazing and would recommend them to anyone! Thank you again for making our visit such a great experience!
I recently had the pleasure of dining at AAMA Nepalese Cuisine, and I must say, it was an absolute delight from start to finish. As soon as I stepped through the doors, I was captivated by the gorgeous, serene ambiance - the scenic views and warm, inviting atmosphere set the perfect tone for an exceptional meal. The food of course is amazing. I started with the momos (jhol and tandoori are my favorite), which were bursting with flavor. My favorite is the braised lamb ribs, and let me tell you, they were nothing short of phenomenal. The meat was incredibly tender and packed with rich, authentic Nepalese spices. I ended up ordering a whole dish to myself, even though it was meant to be shared... What truly sets AAMA apart is the attention to detail and the genuine passion of the staff. They were attentive, knowledgeable, and went above and beyond to ensure my dining experience was nothing short of exceptional. I would highly recommend AAMA Nepalese Cuisine to anyone looking for a truly memorable and authentic Nepalese culinary adventure. Youre sure to be blown away by the incredible flavors and warm hospitality. Be back soon for the ribs!!
Amazing food to enjoy. Everything we ordered was outstanding. Very happy with my experience with Aama Nepalese Cuisine.
Cozy family run restaurant. Service was fantastic. Highly recommend the momos and the Yak. My yak was seared and then smoked to perfection. My wife had leg of lamb which was great as well. She had a ginger spiced tea which was delicious. She also had their house made iced tea which also was delicious. Dessert was lava cake. We are throwing this place into our rotation. There are a few places that me must visit 2-3 times per year and this is now one of them.
We came here on a whim and were surprised to see most of the tables reserved. Luckily we were seated before the rush and had a wonderful experience. The staff and atmosphere was warm and welcoming. Initially we ordered the beet salad, pork momo johl and yak braised short rib. Not only was each dish beautiful to the eye but it was delicious and unique. After the main meal we decided to try the rice pudding (which was delicately sweet and creamy) and the sticky toffee pudding (the ice cream could sell on its own, combined with the toffee drizzle and cake it was a great way to end the meal). Its a rare experience to leave a meal completely satisfied. Thank you very much!

Delicious food and personable service with extra attention from the owner. A wonderful small business to support!
Great restaurant with Amazing food! A must try, and you will not be disappointed. The leg of lamb is the best I have ever had.
Amazing quality and ambience. Prices can be a little cheeper but amazing food
the food is out of this world!! fantastic flavors. the beet salad is a total delight.
Delighted by the rich flavors and aromatic spices in the Nepalese cuisine I experienced. From momo dumplings that burst with savory fillings to the soul-warming bowls of dal bhat, each dish showcased a perfect blend of tradition and taste. The diverse range of chutneys and pickles added an extra layer of excitement to the culinary journey. A must-try for those seeking an authentic and delightful Nepalese dining experience.
Cant say enough about the excellent service, the beautiful colorful restaurant decor and atmosphere and the delicious flavours of this unique cuisine.
This is easily one of the best restaurants in Cochrane. The food, ambiance and service are all amazing.
My husband and I went out for food to Aama this evening and we were blown away at the kind greetings from all of the staff, the very busy and full restaurant and the amazing service!! The flavours of the delicious and beautifully crafted dishes were unbelievably excellent. It s been along time since I ve eaten such wonderful food with great service! If you are looking for great food please take your friends and family to this amazing restaurant! You will leave feeling full, satisfied and with a smile! Five stars for sure!
The food was delicious and the service was great; I will definitely go again!
Editing my review by my latest yesterday s visit. Lovely place to be. Food quantity they have reduced as comp with price. Too much salt in everything. Food was coming in instalments. We were 5 and food came very slow. Idk with that small portions y it too that long. Chef needs to work fast Atmosphere is fantastic. The owners are fantastic. My friends will be giving reviews bcz they visited by my recommendation but the are not happy with the service and food.
Really loved this place! The food was outstanding!!! There were so many great choices, and would have loved some guidance around the menu items to help us choose but we got lucky. My only complaint was that when we walked in there was a very strong scent of incense versus the smell of the yummy food to come.
Yummy food.. so authentic. Momos were amazing. Must try out
The food was amazing and everyone was super nice easily the best food this year!
Incredible Nepali cuisine by chef G. The food, service and ambiance really shines. Memorable and flavourful. A must go to restaurant and should be at the top of your list.
We had an amazing experience here tonight! The food is delicious and the owners are wonderful. 10/10 would return
It was our first time at Aama and was thoroughly impressed by the food and their team. Everything we tried were uniquely delicious. We got so excited after the first couple of dishes, we forgot to take more pictures. We had yak momos, braised pork belly, sekuwa and chicken chow mein. I would highly recommend all of them and would love to come back to try the rest! We came in at a quieter time and had the pleasure of meeting both the owners. They were warm, friendly and very informative. Our server was just adorable!
A New Years Culinary Adventure in Cochrane With two little ones in tow and the promise of fireworks lighting up the sky, we set out for Cochrane to ring in the New Year in style. After the dazzling display, hunger struck, and we found ourselves drawn to a Nepalese gem recommended by the local Facebook group. Securing a reservation was a breeze, and we arrived just in time to be greeted by the cozy ambiance of the homely restaurant. Our appetites stirred, we dove into an array of dumplings featuring yak, chicken, pork, and goat prepared in various styles. Fearing an onslaught of overpowering spice and excessive ginger, I was pleasantly surprised by the harmonious blend of flavors and the impeccable execution of each dish. The tenderness of the meats, coupled with the perfect accompaniments, left us all grinning from ear to ear. Next up were the vegetable spring rolls, freshly made and delicately seasoned with just the right amount of soy. The roasted eggplant with smashed avocado stole the show, though the slightly spiced tomato sauce added an extra kick that delighted the taste buds. While the pork belly with hints of ginger and lemongrass was a hit, the potato salad didnt quite hit the mark for me, though the kids seemed to enjoy it just fine. For mains, the leg of lamb stole the spotlight, ranking among the best Ive tasted in any cuisine in calgary and surrounds. Paired with smooth, flavorful mash potatoes and winter vegetables, it was a symphony of taste and texture and the jus was epic! Meanwhile, the Atlantic cod with roasted potatoes and grains was a fresh delight, perfectly seasoned and bursting with flavor. As the meal drew to a close, we indulged in a sticky toffee pudding that was simply divine. The warm sweetness paired with a cool scoop of vanilla ice cream was the perfect ending to our culinary adventure. Kudos to the husband-wife team behind this small restaurant in a quaint city. Their passion and dedication shone through in every dish, making it an experience worth traveling for. Well definitely be back for more and highly recommend this hidden gem to anyone seeking an unforgettable dining experience. Well done indeed!
Good food .nice lady named Tara Runs the business .
This was our first time at the Aama Nepalese Cuisine in Cochrane. We ordered all the authentic food and momos. It was amazing food, amazing atmosphere and the owner is very accommodating and helpful in recommending items on the menu. Enjoyed each and every dish we ordered. Will go back again. Highly recommended!!
We had an amazing New Years Eve dinner. Thanks for the outstanding food and service. A great way to end 2023!!
You need to come here! There is nothing like this. The food the flavours the uniqueness will surprise you. The yak momos were epic, they were delicious and flavourful. The paneer texture and flavour was amazing. The goat main dish was really great.
Loved the authenticity
Very odd. We went there to try some momos. But it seems like they have some RULES for dine in. We wanted to order only momos just to try but they came and told us We dont serve such low quantity food due to our service and its a fine dining restaurant. We expect everyone to order at least 25CAD. This is something I have never heard. The ambience and everything was good but weird and uncalled policies.
We were a group of 6 people and couldn t order anything. Initially we wanted to try two items since we had halal restrictions and the menu was pretty weird. Thats why we couldn t choose what to order. However they mentioned that they won t take the order unless its $25 per person. We couldn t have anything from there and had to leave. They should ve a sign board or something else mentioning that.
Great food and nice ambience. So good.
The owners are so lovely, they strive to make the dining experience authentic and first class. The food is absolutely delicious. Best momos I have ever had. The restaurant is beautifully decorated, with no detail overlooked. 10/10 recommend, you will not be disappointed!
Best Momos
I love the food, nice ambiance and great service.
Really good momos, but if you like spicy food specifically ask for it
One of the BEST Restaurant in Cochrane, AB. Ive been there few times, never disappointed !!! Everything is A-1 on Hwy A-1. Parking: Very big, safe & free ! Right in front of the restaurant.
The taste of Momo and soup could be better though.
This place is a gem I didnt expect to find while driving through Cochrane. Compliments to the chef.
We love coming here! In fact, my father loves it so much that he drives all the way from Red Deer just for this food. It s so authentic and the owners are so friendly and greet you with a warm smile every time we come. We re so grateful for the kindness and inclusiveness, especially since they helped make our baby s experience better and gave our baby some food to keep him busy! We appreciate the above and beyond service that they give us every time! Highly recommend this place if you want to feel like you re travelling to Nepal. Highly recommend the Momos and anything else with the yak are top notch!
Authentic Nepalese food! The yak momos bring me back to being in Sindhuli, Nepal! A truly magical feeling. I can not rave about this place enough!! The owners are very warm and inviting and always willing to help. I strongly encourage anyone who has not tried Nepalese cuisine, TO GO HERE! You are missing out, those who know, already know!
For the first time at the place I was impressed by the decoration (it filled my eyes, what a beautiful place) a mix of colors and prints in the same environment where everything was decorated to perfection. Lots of gold, which made everything even more enriched. I couldnt stop looking at the details. The food, besides being very fragrant, is delicious, it exceeded all my expectations, I want to come back more often to try other dishes. One thing I didnt really like was the music (I thought they could have a slightly lower ambient tone, since the house wasnt full and that bothered me a little (I dont like noise). Vegetarian options: Yes a lot of options Wheelchair accessibility: Yes
Aama Nepalese Cuisine hit it out of the park tonight for our anniversary! Seriously...if you havent gone yet CHECK IT OUT!!! Cannot say enough about how amazing the food, service and everything is!! We will be back soon ALL THE MO MOS!!!!!
Wow what a gem ! Great service, the restaurant was spotless. The food is amazing ! I had the chili chicken Momo, the yak joha momo, masala wings, and spiced fries. Soo good ! All of them were amazing. Will definitely be back to try more things. Check it out, one of the best restaurants in Alberta !
Best Nepalese food ever had in Canada. Amazing food, great service and lovely atmosphere.
Had a day in Cochrane and just decided to try Nepalese forthe first time. Service was excellent! Waitress took to explain every dish and some other cultures behind the dishes that we ordered! Short history/geographical lesson. Super busy we were lucky to be able to walk in. But Id recommend making a reservation seeing how busy it got after we were seated. Food was also excellent tried 2 different Platters one Goat and one Yak. Also some dumplings and a butter chicken. Actually liked everything. Dietary restrictions: Super Good with Allergies!
This place is amazing. Ive been twice and tried new dishes each time. Everything has been 10/10
Such a treat! Very reminiscent of my brief visit to Nepal. The food was very tasty! The chef came out to chat with us, which was such a delight! I m looking forward to going back!
Amazing!!! I decided to stop here because I had an errand nearby. Am I ever glad I did! The food was spot on! Rich, delicious, so satisfying from start to finish. I had the goat tandoori dumplings, the yak steamed dumplings & the roasted eggplant with flatbread. ALL DELICIOUS! The Nepalese tea is very nice as well.
All the food was amazing, the staff are all very nice and we all had an amazing time. Vegetarian options: There were plenty of wonderful vegetarian options to choose from, we had a salad and it was delicious! Kid-friendliness: There was a high chair. Wheelchair accessibility: There was handicap parking.
My daughter found this restaurant and wanted to try it. Despite the snowy weather we made the trek in from Calgary on a Friday night and it was so worth it. The flavours of the 3 shared plates were amazing. The spices on the tarua are hard to describe but not in anyway like a traditional tempura as it has more veggies than batter with flavour in the batter, had the yak momos and the lamb ribs. Would definitely come back and recommend everyone to try this restaurant!!!!
The food and service is fantastic!
Went here for lunch twice already and the food was amazing. We ordered the roasted eggplant, char grilled yak, goat kwati, and jhol pork momos. Service was great too. Owner also came over for a nice chat.
Great food and service. Gotta try it out!
I like this place so much. This place is very clean and neat. The food was very delicious. Ive never tasted Nepalese food before. This restaurants food was very good to know what authentic Nepalese food is. Also, the server and the owner were very friendly. They asked me that if I want to more rice.(more rice is for free) I would visit this restaurant again when I visit Cochrane
