The best omakase in Alberta

This is by far one of the best authentic Japanese restaurants around Calgary area. Everything we tried was absolutely awesome in taste and in presentation. The service was one of the best we had in a while as well. The decor and the ambiance of the restaurant is really good too. Id encourage all sushi lovers in the area to try Azito Japanese restaurant at least once. This is what Id clasify as a hidden gem!! PS: We absolutely loved the Aburi Salmon.

Amazing food and amazing service. You need to make a reservation in advance but its worth the wait and every penny. The fish is really fresh and I love the way they serve it. Everything is so pleasant and the service is excellent. Just 2 people working hard to deliver a flawless experience. First time today and weve already booked for November and December... Cant wait!

Hands down best Japanese dining experience that I ve experienced in all of Canada. The premium omakase is top-notch and was better than omakases that I ve had in Vancouver. The freshness and pairings that the chef puts together is nothing like I ve experienced before. If you enjoy Japanese food, do yourself a favour and try this place out!

We had the creation omakase and we have no complaints. The food was absolutely delicious, fresh, and prepared wonderfully. The service was very informative and attentive. You can tell that the owners and chef really care about the food and experience they offer. I cant wait for the next time I come back

This place is extraordinary. Min and Mitsu are both extremely talented and very hospitable. We are experienced diners who have dined on, off and via an omakase menu ant Azito and have blown away every time. This place is a hidden gem in Cochrane that deserves worldly recognition. We will continue to go here to spoil ourselves with gorgeous, quality food and service.

My husband and I did the omakase. It is pricey, but it s worth every penny! The food was super fresh and every thing was delicious, the service was top notch and my husband and I didn t go home hungry (he eats ALOT lol) highly recommend this place.

Had an incredible time for my first Omakase experience! For this restaurant the Omakase experience is not with the chef but seated at a table, however its a small restaurant and we were well taken care of and every dish was explained and we could ask questions etc. I loved all the dishes and each one was exciting to taste and delicious! The quality of the sashimi was incredible. I didnt post all the dishes because the reveal is also part of the fun experience. There was a decent amount of food considering Omakase isnt designed to fill you up. One thing I noticed was that the markup for the drinks was pretty high so we only had the house sake instead of a bottle. I highly recommend taking a trip out to Cochrane if you live in the surrounding areas, I had a great time!

We weren t able to get in for Omakase but tried many things on the menu. I ll definitely be back to order everything. The fish is fresh, and the selection is amazing. From hokkaido uni nigiri to some of the best blue fin otoro. The standard of sushi in Alberta has been raised.

This place is the best sushi restaurant I ve ever been to, and I ve been to 100s of places all over the world. This place needs to be protected at all costs. Amazing staff. So friendly. This isn t food it s artwork

Oh my goodness, the whole experience here was phenomenal. We were greeted warmly by the waitress and noticed we were the only ones in the restaurant (they take very limited customers). We pre ordered our order the day before( I think they do this to maintain fresh ingrediets. We ordered a bottle of fruity lemon yuzu sake. Every single dish was so delicious, all the little garnishes and sauces were top notch (not only did it add to the presentation but also the taste). I ve had sushi in Japan, Vancouver, Hawaii and surprisingly this little joint in Cochrane is better than some places in Vancouver. I loved how fresh every ingredient was from the wasabi/ginger to the chu-toro and hotate. We had a lovely experience with the waitress (she was recommending different dishes based on what we enjoyed) and even offered to cancel some dishes since she thought we ordered too much. The process to get a reservation can be a bit discouraging but it s 100% worth it! We re already trying to figure out when to come back next. The prices are incredibly comparable to places in Calgary (if not cheaper) but the quality is inferior. Don t sleep on this place!!

Ive been to many different Japanese restaurants in North America and Asia, and this is one of the best ones. High quality food, great service, and reasonably priced as well. Definitely coming back. Food

Azito is absolutely incredible. Its quite a blessing theres a sushi restaurant of this caliber in Alberta. Its not just delicious for Alberta standards, but delicious on a worldwide scale. It rivals some heavy hitters in Japan itself. The owners are extremely knowledgeable and offer great insight and honest recommendations for dishes. The garnishes and additional toppings used complement the main flavours perfectly, but dont take away or mask the high quality of the fish. Everything blends together and melts in your mouth flawlessly with every bite. Its not even that expensive compared to other sushi restaurants in the city, yet blows literally everything else out of the water in terms of quality. The booking process and pre-ordering for a la carte may be difficult and may deter some, but if that keeps the food quality high and keeps this spot manageable for the owners, then Im grateful for those hurdles. Im already moving my schedule around months in advance to fit another visit to Azito in.

Easily the best sushi in Alberta and possibly Western Canada. Personally Top 5 in Canada. I would be skeptical too since it s in a small town. Like Longview it can take a while to get a booking.

April 16, 2023 Enjoyed Azitos fabulous omakase dinner last weekend with the family. Absolutely breathtaking 9 course dinner with some of the best quality and unusual seafood that Ive had in a long time, anywhere! 1) Appetizer platter: marinated baby fire squid, tempura noodlefish,deep fried salmon belly and marinated shrimp & squid. 2) Shrimp, scallop & ikura chawanmushi (steamed egg). It was light, smooth and delicious. 3) Sashimi platter - beautifully presented with saba, madai, sablefish (black cod), salmon, Hokkaido scallop, akami, chutoro, hamachi, and botan ebi (Pacific spot prawn) with deep fried prawn head. 4) Hokkaido scallop, uni and chutoro with quail egg yolk seasoned rice. Server mixed it up at the table. 5) Wagyu nabe- with shiitake mushroom, Napa cabbage and tofu in a shoyu broth 6) Shrimp and scallop katsu skewer 7) Seared sablefish in ponzu sauce 8) Smoked nigiri platter - spectacularly presented hickory smoked sablefish, chutoro and wagyu (cooked) nigiri 9) Basque burnt cheesecake cake ALL the food was delicious! Service was excellent: friendly & courteous, with a smile. There is only one server, but our beverage glasses were always kept full. The tea service was so cute! The dining room is clean and spacious. There is a large open kitchen. Be prepared to spend a minimum 2-1/2 hours for this service. Omakase is offered only certain days of the week and must reserve well ahead of time. Price likely in the area of $150 per person. Uncertain because this dinner was a gift. Please check with restaurant. It was a most memorable gastronomic experience. I look forward to returning to taste their regular menu. I highly recommended this restaurant.

Ive been here twice, once for omakase at night and today for the nigiri sushi lunch. The restaurant is only able to serve 6 people at a time for omakase, so its super cozy and personal. Melt in your mouth fish, gorgeous presentation, real hand ground wasabi, and the sweetest owners, what more could you ask for? I only wish they werent so far from me in Calgary and was easier to book (Because its too popular)!

We had the Omakase dinner and it was by far the best sushi I have had in Canada. We polished off every dish. Sushi was super fresh, the cooked dish like hot pot were amazing. You could taste every ingredient. Great place! Food

Our expectations were high but Min and her husband still blew them out of the water. We came for a friends birthday and it was so worth it for every penny and the best meal we have ever had. The food are really fresh and unique. The store is really small , need to reserve all the time. Highly recommended for omakase lovers. However, Server needs to slow down to collect empty dish after each dish, no rush. And cut the ginger to small bite pieces instead of huge piece.

We love the chef creation omakase experience! Reminds us of Japan when we lived there for a month. It s a little pricy but worth the experience! For those craving omakase or try true Japanese dining you should try azito. Everything down to the service is wonderful and the food is beautifully presented and fresh! If you have three hours to burn, bring a date so you can talk about the experiences you enjoy together.

This sushi restaurant is VERY serious about what they do. This is easily the freshest fish, best presentation and highest attention to detail that I ve had in Alberta in a long, long time. If this was in Vancouver, you couldn t get in. It is a small room, quite spartan, but very relaxing. You should go. Reservations only. PS and there won t be 1000 guys coming for pick up/delivery either which drives me crazy

Went to Azito for the first time the other night and was really impressed. If I could give them 6 stars I would. The service and food was fantastic and it s clear they take a lot of pride in what they do and what they put on a plate in front of you. Can t wait to go back.

Absolutely unbelievable quality & top notch service. The spot prawn nigiri was to die for, they were just bursting with flavour. The Premium Omakase Sashimi platter was a work of art & I cant say Ive ever had barracuda before but I definitely want to again. Cant wait to try the entire menu here!

Unbelievable experience here. The food was prepared perfectly with an obvious deal of thought and craft in each dish. Easily the best Sushi dining experience we ve had in North America without being a coastal town/city. Try the chef s daily Sashimi recommendations, as he only prepares fresh. It s worth the wait trust me. Advanced reservations are necessary (2-3 weeks ahead of time), but this is not a high volume typical sushi joint. Unbelievable that it exists in Cochrane! Try it, you won t be disappointed

Tried the Chef s Creation omakase - was so delicious! Their use of Hokkaido scallop and many other premium ingredients (A5 wagyu, Hokkaido uni, saba, Sapporo cod, otoro just to name a few) was outstanding. Even simpler dishes like the broth with pine mushrooms were so good. Will definitely recommend this place for my family and friends to try. Thanks Azito!

Another amazing dinner. My wife and I have been coming here every month since the first time. We were here tonight for my birthday and the service was incredible as usual. They made some special nigiri for the occasion and the quality was indescribable.

Love this place, need to make the reservation in advance but the wait is worth it. Fresh fish for all their sushi and the best fresh wasabi I ve had in Canada. And their agedashi tofu and mozzarella sticks is perfectly fried and seasoned with the super delicious soup at the bottom.

Dont you love it when restaurant become so popular that they think they can treat potential customers however they like. Honestly there are several sushi restaurants out there and customers have many choices so dont think so highly of yourself that you are going to stay busy forever. I wish you all the luck as the most arrogant sushi place.

This was one of the BEST Omakase dinners I ve ever had and I ve had Omakase in Tokyo, Kyoto, and Osaka not to mention high end sushi restaurants in Vancouver. We happen to be the only table in the small quaint restaurant that evening so we had undivided attention from the lovely owner. Her husband is the sushi chef and his attention to detail is amazing. The dishes were works of art and even though the food was too pretty to eat we ate everything. The ambience in the restaurant doesn t make for the most romantic dinner however we didn t even notice as the beautifully crafted dishes came out steadily from the kitchen one by one. The service was beyond exceptional always served with a description of the dish and warm smile. We will definitely be back!

I absolutely loved this place after trying it last night. When you walk into the restaurant the interior has a really welcoming feel to it. We were also greeted at the door by this really nice lady who also happened to be our server. I preorder some food in advance which included the assorted sashimi, blue fin tuna, wagyu beef and also order extras (assorted nigiri sushi, wagyu beef takaki and assorted oshii sushi). The fish was amazingly fresh like the best ive ever had in Alberta, and the presentation was phenomenal! The blue fin tuna just melts in your month... Every dish was good and our server took time to explain each dish and how to eat it. I was overall impressed as this has to be the best sushi restaurant in the area (Calgary / Cochrane / Airdrie). Will definitely be back again.

A wonderful sushi experience in an unexpected location. Azito is an authentic, vibrant, and creative restaurant. The freshness, cuts, and quality of the fish is outstanding. Although we were a tad late, the staff made us feel like family when we walked in. This is one of the best places for sushi in Alberta, and I cant wait to bring others for this experience.

If you enjoy authentic japanese cuisine you gotta try this place! The omakase they serve is worth every penny and every dish was superb, you can tell the quality and freshness of the fish in every bite! Service and value is A++! Please make sure you make a reservation in advance as they are a small establishment and probably cant accommodate you unless you reserve. Every 5 star review they have is for GOOD REASON!

Such a cute little place. Limited seating as there is only 1 chef. But we loved the intimate atmosphere. Lady up front is so sweet and had amazing service, very quick email responses for booking and great service throughout dinner. Great fish quality standard here, our sashimi was amazing! We are very particular with our tuna and we were not disappointed! Our other dishes were okay but had beautiful presentation, and food came out super fast. Over all super cute place, they really care about quality of ingredients and we enjoyed their attention to detail. Place was clean and great service. We wont be returning because we live in the city and its quite a bit of a drive for us but if youre in town definitely a place we would recommend.

Everything we tried was amazing the Ebi Mayo and the Ebi Katsu especially was unique, creative and delicious. The tempura we had was the best tempura Ive ever had. Our server was so friendly, and had great humor. I cant wait to come back

We recently dined at Azito for their Omakase dinner. Like others, this was a great experience with some of the best Japanese cuisine Ive had and definitely one of the best (if not the best) in the Greater Calgary area. Each dish was delicious, full of flavour and the service was amazing. The staff is friendly and very accommodating, making sure our water and tea was always topped off. Their omakase dinner is a wonderful blend of sashimi, sushi and hot Japanese cuisine wrapped up by a choice of ice cream with a slice of their Japanese cheesecake. Each course was well thought out, with contrasting flavours and textures that made each dish an experience. Premium pieces of sushi and sashimi such as Hokkaido scallops, spot prawn, uni, toro, king salmon, hamachi and wagyu were all included. Unique hot Japanese courses included a wonderful steamed egg with mushrooms, shrimp and scallops, miso soup with salmon belly and hamachi as well as hamachi kama. In total, we had 8 courses (with most courses containing more than one dish) and were absolutely stuffed at the end of the meal. We will definitely be back!

This restaurant has an amazing Omakase dinner! I have visited Japan twice and I still think that this place is the closest thing you can get to the authentic Japanese Omakase experience. I was seriously impressed by the quality of the sushi here and I love to come back soon. The service is superb and the lady that works there is so polite.

We chose this restaurant for my husbands birthday dinner. It was an amazing experience from the moment that we were welcomed in to the small restaurant, a few minutes before it opened, by the friendly waitress. We had preordered one veggie dinner. The rest of the family chose items from the menu at the restaurant. Every item that was ordered tasted and looked incredible. We tried many different dishes such as miso soup, sushi, tofu, and more. The attention to deal and the quality of the food was evident in all the dishes we ate. We had a wonderful evening.

Absolutely delicious, I love everything about this restaurant. Service was fantastic and the food was amazing. The waitress lady made sure to tell us how certain items should be eaten and went over what was in the stuff that we ordered. The sushi did not have too much rice and the garnish was well designed so that it complimented everything very nicely. The sashimi tasted great and seemed very fresh. I would definitely come again and it s now my favourite sushi spot even if I have to drive here from Calgary. The only down side is that they only take reservations and we have to plan ahead of time.

A very small and cozy restaurant, a couple running this amazing place. They really focus on quality. I mean seriously good quality! They take in 8 of us as guests and we genuinely had a great time. Lots nice food and drink, nice relaxing lunch. The pricing is very reasonable too. If you like quality, please do book ahead of time.

Small little gem in Cochrane, but such a treat. One of the freshest sushi around Calgary area hands down! The rolls were tasty, fish were all fresh, and highly recommend the assorted Sashimi and Aburi sushi. Looking forward to trying their Omakase next time!

We decided to come here for the girlfriends birthday. We did the Omakase $120/person (Market Price Dependent). Very unique, was expected to be served in front of chef, but they do it at your own table through many courses (some not pictured). Husband and wife run, she was very attentive and really took care of the two of us. Service was amazing, food was extremely unique and tried to utilize everything (bones were turned into a soup).

We love sushi and usually we have to lower expectations for sushi in Calgary, however Azito has to be the best Calgary offers, and in such a nondescript location. What stands out is their freshness (flown in from Japan on Thursdays) and the chefs attention to presentation and details. Love it!

Two words - worth it. We order the hot sake, jalapeno roll, and omakase nigiri (enjoy it without any soy sauce as recommended) and seriously, its worth it. We find booking was abit challenging, so Id recommend emailing them to find a time! We will be back for sure. :) Thank you for a great meal.

Not very good or flexible with accommodating dietary restrictions. Modifications that they used to make for us they now refuse to do. Their service was a lot better and staff a lot less rude before they got popular. This place has really gone down hill in the service department since they opened.

We came to try this restaurant for the first time from Calgary and it did not disappoint us. The restaurant was modern and clean with a big open kitchen. Tables were reasonably spaced. The server was very sincere to explain to use about the menu. The food was nicely plated and was all very delicious. We will come back again for sure. This is like a hidden gem in Cochrane, despite good reputation among friends already.

Its been over 10 time that I try to go at this restaurant, every time they turn me around saying they are full for the day, even if I try to book a reservation they are full... Ill keep going to sakura instead...

Lunch started with the restaurant making us wait outside on a hot day because they werent ready (past their regular opening time & our reservation time). Azito is also not family friendly and they asked to take shoes off a child who was just sitting there normally. I am guessing they are worried about a child standing on the chair with shoes on? More reasonable response would have been to tell parents to make sure the child behaves. Service in general was unfriendly and we will not be returning. At $50+/pp for lunch, you would at least expect an average customer experience.

Azito is an amazing place for sushi! But their Omakase is next level! Its not your grandmas omakase with just nigiri after nigiri until youre full, this is an array of different amazing dishes with the highest ingredients expressed in creative artistry. We went to this amazing little place in Cochrane Azito. I have been wanting to try their creations for 2 weeks, trying to get reservation is almost impossible. This place is very small and only 5 small tables. They take quality seriously so that is why they have staggering reservations. Cause the chef wants to focus on one table at a time. Everything he does is thought out and made fresh daily. They do not use the same fish the next day. So, when I got the reservation I had to order the food 24 hours in advance and reservations can only be made by via Email. Dates are extremely limited as they only open 5 days a week only 2 lunch days are open for 2 hours only and the rest are open for 4 hours only for evenings. Time slots are hard to obtain. Expect emails going back and forth for awhile before scoring a reservation. This quaint restaurant serves some amazing food. The Ebi Mayo was so amazing with battered tiger prawn, lychee, Pistachios and their house sweet mayo. . Their Goma-ae is made with organic kale then the traditional spinach. The seafood sunomono was fresh, tangy and sweet. The Aburi wagu beef with foie gras and a Tempura prawn in the middle was so delicious you do not need soy sauce! The Honey Teriyaki chicken roll in soy sheet was good and their Green special roll in soy sheet with fried zucchini on top and inside has Brussel sprouts, avocado, house blend vegetables and fruit sauce! Everything was so good, every small details were executed well.

Been here twice when they said they were open. First time door was locked and but staff inside. Second time turned away because they said we had to make a reservation although no one was inside. Super lame.

A cute little sushi restaurant. We came from Calgary after some good feedback about this place. Their food quality are great and did not disappoint us. The owners are very friendly and the service is great. I will said this is one of the best Japanese restaurant that within driving distance from Calgary! World class sushi! This is hands down the best sushi Ive ever had in Canada. Have to book in advance (months for omakase). The quality of food and level of service is unparalleled. Brought my dad, whos based abroad, here for dinner as sushi is his favorite food. He is well traveled and he said this ranks up there with top sushi restaurants hes been to. They are very good with allergies, the service is tailored and very attentive. The food is prepared immaculately and the passion that goes into it is very evident. In terms of what to order...you honestly cant go wrong with anything on the menu. My favorites include the sea urchin, albacore toro sashimi, blue fin toro Maki, aburi salmon toro ngiri as well as the saikyo miso grilled Hamachi. The tempura is really good as well. Worth every penny and definitely worth the trek to Cochrane! Thank you Azito for the wonderful dinner experiences. We cannot wait to be back!

We didn t opt for the Omakase, but we did a combination of a la cart items and omakase nigiri/sashimi combo. Every piece of fish was super fresh, highlights being the chutoro, botan ebi, and Hokkaido scallops. You could tell that everything was prepared with care. For example, we ordered hand cones and the moment the chef was finished making it, it was delivered to our table within seconds so the seaweed wasn t soggy. The service is 10/10 as the wife continuously checked if my tea was empty and always brought plates out with a smile. The tempura batter was light, yet extremely crispy. One thing I would do differently is to not order both the nigiri and sashimi omakase special as both sets had the exact same fish. Overall, some of the best sushi I ve had in Calgary. I would definitely come back here for a nice sushi meal.

The presentation was the best Ive ever seen from a takeout order. PERIOD. Especially recommend the salmon belly roll as well as the yam tempura roll:)) Also one of the best customer service experiences ever. As we were from out of town, we had some difficulty finding the location(no thanks to Google maps) I phoned the restaurant and the employee on the phone was so nice and patient and understanding. She gave excellent directions and we ended up finding it but after their closing time, she had waited for us and was so nice about everything. Contactless pickup to make it covid friendly:) You gotta eat here!

Quite possibly the BEST sushi place in the greater Calgary area . We re lucky enough to live near the Calgary city limits to it is only a short 30 min drive here to have the best sushi ever. The place is run by the sweetest couple and they are so nice. We first found this place during the summer of 2020, on our way out to BC. Stopped here to pickup lunch and was WOWED by the quality of food. I was very worried it wouldn t make it through the pandemic due to how hard it is on businesses. Luckily they survived and we visited again recently. Ordered the Chirashi and some ikura cones and let me tell you - you will not find fresher fish anywhere in Calgary & area. The lovely lady even remembered us from last summer. Presentation is top notch, the rice is the perfect texture even though we got brown rice today, and the fish is to die for. We sat in a park to eat our meals outside in the nice weather, I lost a couple of pieces of fish to the wind when it knocked over my container and I was devastated. Eat here. Support this small local restaurant because it serves amazing food and I want to come back here again and again!!

Some of the freshest and best sushi I have had anywhere. We ordered for the first time on Mothers day and the chef squeezed us in last minute and went out of his way to have it prepared just before they closed. True dedication to quality ingredients and spectacular presentation. Used to travel to the city for sushi but will be making this the go to for sushi from now on.

Went here on a quiet Monday afternoon. Min was very friendly and welcoming. She clearly explained what was in the menu items and the specials for that day. The food looked beautiful! Presentation was top notch. The fish looked fresh and they tasted absolutely delicious! I ordered the Deluxe Lunch and it was all excellent. You could tell that there was a lot of thought put into creating the dishes. The setting is very casual and inviting. Its deceptively simple but the dishes were sophisticated and of top quality. Would definitely recommend to anyone who is looking for an excellent Japanese cuisine experience.

I stopped here for dinner tonight and I can confidently say this is without a doubt the best Sushi Ive ever had. Everything was delightful from the beautiful presentation of the meal to the fresh taste. The staff were friendly and were happy to help me navigate the menu. So I got some Azito sushi last year for my birthday and it was amazing! I had an old friend in town and we always get sushi when we meet up. I knew their sushi was top-notch so she had to try it. (It is next level sushi!) Hands down some of the best sushi I ever had! Not only was it extremely fresh it also had tons of flavor. This sushi was like looking at modern art! A master piece! Min and Mitsuru gave us an amazing experience! We asked Min to offer suggestions and wow... she delivered! The food was not only delicious but beautifully presented. Despite having sushi many, many times, Min recommended dishes we had never tried before, was very attentive, and kind. Mitsurus creations are some of the best we have tried. Wow the food is amazing! I have been to excellent Japanese restaurants in Toronto, this place is a surprising find in Cochrane Alberta. This is top quality food, amazing presentation can t wait to go again. I wish I had taken a picture, was so hungry we ate it all. Ordered some sushi for pick-up and was surprised when a staff member ran out to my car as I was putitng on my mask. She was so sweet and attentive and let me know she could bring my order and the payment machine out. She was very quick - running in and out of the restaurant to provide me with service. Once I got home and opened the containers, the most wonderful smells met my nose and sights met my eyes! The sashimi salad was so well balanced with wonderful cuts of various fish, the rolls were all made impeccably, the gyoza were piping hot and delicious (and tasted homemade, not pre-bought frozen) and the kale goma-ae was wonderful. Everything was perfectly seasoned and prepared. This will be our new go-to sushi restaurant in Cochrane!

From the service to the beautiful dinnerware to the food a top notch authentic experience. Best Sushi I have ever had and amazing presentation. The lady who serves is a real sweet heart, the saki is extremely potent for those who dont mind an afternoon pick me up. It is very small and best to reserve in advance but if your a sushi lover its a must! And their salad and miso soup might just be the best I have had.

If you want high quality authentic sushi with superb service, Azito is where it s at. From the moment we stepped out of our car, we were greeted by name by the kind hostess (we made a reservation). Inside is small but clean, bright, and modern. Our host explained every piece of sushi and checked in throughout the meal to ensure everything was good. We ordered the gyoza, tempura, a couple of rolls and an assortment of nigiri. The fish is among the freshest fish we ve tasted locally. The blue fin tuna toro was melt in your mouth and the king salmon was another highlight. They brush soy and a wasabi mix on the nigiri pieces already so don t need to dip too much extra soy on the nigiri. Reminded me of our omakase experience in Japan. Speaking of omakase, we ll be trying that on our next visit. Was told we ll need to call in at least 10 days in advance as they need to call their supplier in Japan to ship the fish in. Super excited for our next visit to Azito!

I had seen some people post reviews on IG over the past couple of months. I finally had a chance to visit Azito a couple of weeks ago. The staff are all super friendly. Min answered all my questions. Min mentioned that the sushi is sprinkled with Red Wine Vinegar. The food was beautifully presented. Very fresh tasting and really good. The food is reasonably priced. I really enjoyed the meal and highly recommend Azito to everyone. I asked Min about Natto as I have been seeing other people talk about it. Min explained how good it is and she said that she has it every day. She gave me her recommendation on the brand. I was able to try it and it was really quite good and not pungent smelling I had read about.

We had lunch at Azito. On our table: The Lunch Deluxe, the Nigiri Lunch, the chicken teriyaki and a special freshly caught whole fish sashimi. We were pleased by the quality of the dishes. Special mentions to the sashimi and nigiri that included the delectable unctuous toro and torched mackerel. The chicken breast was tender and cooked perfectly. The service was attentive and friendly. We recommend everyone to stop by if you are in Cochrane. Make sure to call before as the restaurant is rather small and minimalist.

I dont even want to write this review so less people will be fighting with me on reservations haha but seriously, one of the best, like very very best Japanese restaurants close to Calgary. I have to drive 30 min just to eat here but I dont mind. The food is so good. Sashimi is fresh and delicately sliced and prepared, bursting with flavor. Cooked dishes are beautifully presented and made with care. Nigiri and maki are also prepared with care and every bite is absolute pleasure. Service is attentive and friendly. I dont know what else to boast about - go if you havent already. See my food pics. Make sure you make a reservation as it is a small restaurant and they only take a limited amount of orders per day.

I love this place, the owners are super nice. The chef is amazing and its definitely fresh, and you can taste the difference. You can also learn a little bit of the culture while your there as well. It truly is amazing and one of a kind. The restaurant is so cozy and beautiful inside. Its definitely worth the drive (1 1/2 hour drive to get there) I would recommend it to anyone that is willing to try it.

First time trying Omakase Creation Set ( )here and it was absolutely a wonderful and delicious experience. Upon our arrival, the lovely waitress opened the door and greeted us and verified our vaccine records and ID and seated us. We sat down for about 5 minutes and we ordered a sake and we didn t have to wait too long till food came. I like the pace of when the food was served because the chef made more food when we finished our plates. All the fish were fresh and food was great. Highly recommended and I will definitely come back! (^ ^)

I seriously have no words! I didn t eat sushi for a whole week to save myself for this meal. The sashimi and nigiri was so fresh. Truly melt in your mouth fish. The ebi mayo and jalapeño roll was also delicious. I love that they use brown rice. Service was great and food came out quickly. Worth the 30 minute drive for sure!

Dining at Azito was one of the pre-eminent sushi experiences of my life. The fish is absolutely fresh, the chef is obviously very skillful and the owner is a total darling. Min, the owner made great suggestions both in dishes to order and how to eat what we had ordered. The chirashi don represents the best value on the menu, with lots of fresh and tasty sashimi, thinly sliced avocado and cucumber, seasoned sushi rice and a shiso leaf. Chefs choice nigiri required no soy sauce as everything was already perfectly seasoned. The Wagyu nigiri in particular was so good I had to order the smoked nigiri course as well to get another piece and it truly was show-stopper. The pickled ginger was so good we thought it was made in house. Apparently so did many of Azitos past guests. They obviously dont skimp on quality. Dining capacity is limited, obviously to keep standards and quality high, so reservations are recommended. Both food quality and that of the guest experience deserve special mention. Truly a night I will not forget!

Give the staff some time they don t speak English as good as some people but it is truly authentic and great food extremely friendly staff and I believe they deserve the chance for anybody to come in and try their sushi highly recommend that you call ahead if you re taking out because they are extremely busy and there s only one person making sushi one peers and taking orders and there s a total of six tables in there so if you want to table you usually need a reservation!

Azito is truly an amazing experience for sushi, from the moment you walk to the front door(greeted by the nice lady by your first name), all the way to the end. With each dish that came out the nice lady explained the best way to eat. The fish was super fresh. All their dishes were a refreshing take on sushi!

Intimate atmosphere with great service. Arrived late due to the snow but the owners were more than accommodating. The fish was top notch. Fresh and good portions. The chu-toro and king salmon were out this world. Wagyu tataki is highly recommended! Definitely worth the drive. Will definitely come back to try the omakase.

Had the Agedashi Tofu & Mozzarella and also the Azito Combo A - 17 pc which consisted of assorted sashimi & 6pc nigiri, 2 pc hand cone. There was freshly sliced ginger and grated wasabi. Everything was beautifully displayed and eatable that includes the small flowers on the plate. Rice was perfectly portioned for each piece.

Took my wife to Azito for wedding anniversary lunch. all of our dishes were good, especially blue fin tuna sashimi was amazing they have many combos to choose and prices were so reasonable the Japanese chef(owner) and the waitress were super friendly, well explained about each dish. I went to Japan about 2 years again and since then Ive been search the Calgary area for somewhere that would take me back. Azito is the place Ive been longing for. You can truely hear, see, and taste the passion that Chef Mitsuru puts into his food. A TRUELY authentic japanese experience with modern flares, I never thought Ive be having foie gras on an Aburi roll, but Im sure glad I had. P.S. Our waitress was absolutley lovely and was very helpful in explaining the food and the proper way to eat them.

Absolutely amazing. The best Japanese food that we ve ever had. The yam, vegetable, and dynamite rolls were all...dynamite. The Teriyaki Chicken was delicious - expertly prepared. Everything was fresh and flavourful, and beautifully presented. As if the food is not outstanding enough on its own, the service was so friendly and inviting. In fact, after this first impression, we couldn t wait to order take-out only 2 days later lol. 5 stars are not enough.

Met a buddy for lunch here. Our first time for both of us. The service was excellent and the sushi was even better. Our server - an owner I think, was very attentive. Ive had some great sushi and this was some of the best. The Tuna was fresh that day. Ive never had tuna so fresh except in Vancouver. Its a small place and due to covid restrictions, theres not a lot of seating. Thus, make a reservation (thats what we did. Try the wagyu role. Its not on the lunch menu but its available if you ask for it. Crazy good. We ate our faces off... $90 later we were on our way. No regrets - well be back.

Girlfriend and I were looking for a sushi restaurant, AZITO had a 4.9 review so we waited a couple hours to try it as they were full and it was deeelicious and worth the wait! Everything we ordered and we ordered a lot... was super! The wagyu tataki, the sashimi salad, the mozza tempura and the jalapeno roll to name a few were amazing. That doesnt even touch on the service and presentation which were also on another level. Definitely a place you have to try if you like sushi, another review said its the best they ve had in Alberta and we share the sentiment!
