499 First St, Collingwood, ON L9Y 1B9, Canada
Roomy, wood-lined venue offering seasonal American plates paired with craft beers brewed on-site.
Great place, good drinks and food. Service is amazing. But quick question…what is the deal with the new uniforms? It feels like they should be working at the keg and not a brewery. Bring back the North winds tshirts. Feels way too formal Other than that awesome
Our experience was pretty good. Service was very prompt and friendly. We went with a couple of burger options and they were decent, the fries / poutine had some nice seasoning to them. Beverages were cold and the environment was neat. Comfortable seating arrangements.
It’s 8 degrees Celsius outside and it’s the end of my 3-hour shift… time for lunch! Definitely a day for comfort food! So here, at Northwinds, my number one favourite in the comfort food department is the “cheesy mac and cheese topped with cheese curds, crispy panko and smokey hot honey brisket, garnished with sweet pickles, scallions and a drizzle of hot honey”… the mac and cheese we loved as kids, and kids still love… but “Oh! So much better with all those extras that the adult palate goes nuts for!” Served in a carbon steel frying pan straight from the line… which is an open kitchen where all the action happens and tasty magic is created right in front of your eyes! There’s a healthy chatter in the room from the lunch crowd, my favourite background music! The servers chat with guests and the line cooks call out orders… “Fire pizza!” as I type! Northwinds is an upscale Brewhouse and Kitchen in Collingwood. Popular with a mixed crowd. There’s also another location in the Village at Blue Mountain, where you may find a few more visitors. Both are devoted to your dining pleasure! True confession: I have been working as a prep cook at Northwinds Collingwood, going on two years! I’m one of a few seniors who find working short shifts in the dynamic atmosphere of Northwinds a nice pick me up in the lives of us old folk! Lol! And of course, we all enjoy the perks, like a free meal of our “Famous Creamy Mac and Cheese!” Bon appétit!
Nice looking pub with a cottage kind of feel. There's an open kitchen so you can see and smell the delicious dishes. The Detroit style pizzas look legit. My nephew ordered the skate flight. You get 14 5 oz glasses of beer. I will post updated review once I try the food. I ordered the Hot Honey brisket mac & cheese. My wife got the Halifax Donair. Both were so delicious. Donair meat is a combination of beef and lamb. We also enjoyed the generous serving of beet salad. My mother-in-law got the fish and chips. You get a massive piece of crispy haddock, served with house made tartar sauce, pickle, root slaw, and fresh cut fries. My nephew ordered the wings they were decent size and coated in honey garlic sauce. Overall, nice dining experience and server was friendly and polite. They have a shop where you can purchase their beer, cider, clothing and hats. We liked the seltzer rasbeery yuzu and bought a pack of 6 to go. If you make the trip to Collingwood I recommend coming here for a flight of beers and bar food. Cheers.
They have a side hustle in here selling Detroit style pizzas. I got this dill pickle and fried onion pizza, it was pretty dam good. Didn't get to eat it while it was hot, had to detour to pickup food from another place first before heading back to the hotel to eat my pizza. It was completely cold by the time I got to it, and still good.
Amazing place. One of my favorite local breweries. Great variety of beers on tap, all brewed locally and food is great as well with very generous portions. Highly recommend if you are looking for good craft beer or pub fare.
We were seated at the bar because it was super packed (expected for a Friday evening). This wasn't a problem. The problem was that we sat there for 20 minutes after the bartender gave us something to drink, and I had to ask to order food. We weren't given a menu or asked if we wanted something to eat. We waited and decided to ask if we could order some food. The service after that was fine, as we got our food in a timely manner. We ordered the fish tacos as our appetizer. The tacos were very good, but the tortilla itself tasted more burnt than charred. My boyfriend ordered "The Hopper" Burger. He said it was just okay. Some parts of it tasted burnt. I ordered the General Tao Sandwich. We looked at the menu online to order since we weren't given menus, and the sandwich I received looked nothing like the one pictured on the website. My boyfriend and I both tried it and couldn't eat more than a few bites. It was not good. The fries that came with our meals were just okay. We were supposed to get garlic aioli with them and never received that. Overall, wish that we had a better experienced here and that it wasn't so expensive for an experience like this. The total was almost $100 CAD and it was definitely not worth it. Wouldn't recommend to anyone in the area unfortunately.
Beer and Drinks were nice. The restaurant has a nice layout and open garage door which was great to sit in front today. The server could have been a bit more helpful and attentive. We didn't get all the options available, we overheard the other server giving a better presentation to the table next to us after we ordered. The food was served quickly, but it was just okay, a bit salty and missing a fresh element. I did enjoy the Backyard Blonde Beer, may come back to try a flight or stop by the Beer Shop attached to buy a few to take home.
Service and food was amazing - new uniform making the very friendly staff feel very Boston pizza vs our local vibe Have to also say how great of a job the hostess team does!
I ve been coming to North since it opened. We have always loved the service and the food but the vibe completely changed recently with the staffs new uniforms. We loved the chill vibe with old school brewery tshirts. Do your business a favour before you lose the staff that your regulars come back for.
I m a regular and the new shirts the servers have to wear are absolutely awful. Kills the vibe. Also the beer isn t as good as it used to be.
We love Northwinds, and have been regular customers since it first opened. The food always hits the mark - consistent and delicious - but the new stuffy uniforms (blouses on men???) are leaving much to be desired. Bring back the vintage looking branded t-shirts - you re aging your staff before their time!!!
We always have such great service at Northwinds but our server Chantal went above and beyond last weekend. She was so bubbly and fun and just made our entire dinner experience so pleasant. The food was also amazing! Chefs kiss! Thanks Chantal for such a great dinner! Food
Awesome food, been coming here for years. Whats the deal with the new server uniforms? Theyre so bad.
Been coming for ages and the food and beer are always phenomenal. Not so cool are the new uniforms - staff look genuinely uncomfortable and it kills the whole brew pub vibe.
Chantal was great, awesome attitude and recommendations! Music was great too.
Night menu*** Food was mediocre. The cheese on my burger wasnt melted aka not thrown on the patty while it was on BBQ? Weird. Ceaseers are awful do not buy. Beer is a bit too hoppy. Honestlyfood was not good. Go to the fish and chip place in town. Vibes are nice here , love the hometown vibes but need to work on quality of food and beer. Fries are good. Wings are dry with no flavour.
Had the best experience at Northwinds! Food is amazing!! Always a great time. Although, I ended up just staring at the personalized mugs in front of me. Sure would like to be a part of that club! Would love to go in and see one for me one day! Jen was great and took very good care of us! See you again!
We had the pretzels, burgers (spicy dill), jalapeño potato chowder, and polenta fries. There were four of us and there was PLENTY of food left. The food was truly amazing. The beer was really great as well. It arrived extremely fast and everything was hot and delicious! Our server, Olivia, was also extremely attentive, present, and super friendly. :)
This place has great food and cold craft beer .
Really enjoyed our dinner here tonight! Hot honey chicken Mac and Cheese was devine Fish and chips were perfect sized, battered nicely, and good crispy fries. Will be back
Second time visiting... drove up from oshawa, just to revisit. Was not disappointed. Great food, fun atmosphere, knowledgeable staff and decent prices. Will be making the trip again.
Curbside food and beer takeout was delicious! Missed the great servers keeping our beer glasses filled though. Great service and love the new menu! Bring back Rainmaker!
Awesome food and a great selection of Beers! 4 years later and still nothing but quality!!! The deep dish pizza is amazing, I could only finish 3 pieces
I ordered their brisket Mac and cheese, the brisket was good but the Mac and cheese was tasteless and watery. There were no toasted breadcrumbs on top, as it states on the menu there is.
Took my wife and kids (3 & 4 years) for dinner and had an amazing experience. The kids loved their food options (chicken tenders and burger). They were really fond of the vibe and the service was top notch. Highly recommended.
I have coeliac disease. Ordered the gluten-free bison burger. My husband confirmed my meal was gluten-free upon collection. An hour and a half after eating it, I had a coeliac attack (violently unwell) I used to be able to eat here safely, until now. Great place for non-coeliacs, but coeliac customers be aware. Dietary restrictions: Not able to provide gluten-free safe food for coeliac.
This is my favourite place to eat in town. If I get to pick a lunch or dinner spot, it is this. My only complaint is that no matter how busy or how quiet, it is rather hard to get a servers attention. But if you are there with other people, you probably wont notice. Their food is incredible. If you are looking for fancy, go somewhere else. This is bar food done well. They change their menu seasonally, which always spells heartbreak for me because I get attached to one item and then it is ripped away, but I always get something new that I love (brewshi, then tuna lettuce wraps, now the brisket mac and cheese), and this also means that you will never get bored of the menu and youll always get to try something new. However, always get the soft pretzels. You will thank me later. I absolutely despise beer, so I cant say much there, but their cocktails are fantastic and their mocktails are even better. There is always a homey atmosphere and I dont feel like Im being judged by the waitstaff. The pizza is fine. Its good pizza if you like pizza with a thick crust. Its made well. I just think if youre coming here for the first time, there are much better things to try. Honestly the only reason I remembered to leave a review is I came on here to look at their menu for my next visit. Thats how good it is. Vegetarian options: There are vegetarian options, and staff will accommodate as best they can Dietary restrictions: They accommodate for dietary restrictions no questions asked but I am lactose intolerant and I take my lactose tolerance medication because it is simply worth it. Parking: It is a small parking lot, so parking is rather hard to find during peak times but its rarely impossible. Kid-friendliness: I always see kids there and it is a very accommodating environment for kids, but no room for them to run around. Low lighting, good to avoid over stimulation but the music is on the louder side. Wheelchair accessibility: Doors are rather narrow, but there are two of them, so entry may not be easy. Not much room for a wheelchair between tables, and I didnt see much space to put a wheelchair at a table but staff will undoubtedly accommodate when necessary. Spacious bathroom, Easy access to disabled stall, toilet is a little unstable and may create a fall hazard
We were underwhelmed at the service today. Server didnt come back to check on my meal. The pizza was nothing like Ive had before. It was cold and the cheese wasnt melted. The server finally came back and I mentioned it. She said well, what do you want me to do about it? How do I reply to that? Very disappointed in my meal that I paid full price for. Not sure we will go back tomorrow as planned.
Great place to visit when in Collingwood (or their location in Blue Mountain). The beers are well crafted, the staff is amazing and you can t beat buck-a-shuck!! Don t let the strip mall location fool you either because inside the place is really awesome and the atmosphere rocks. Collingwood sure lucked out with 3 great breweries!
Very limited vegan/vegetarian options. Fries used to be the best in the area and now are made from frozen and totally lacking flavour. You come out smelling like a roast pig on a spit. I am sure that is to give it an authentic feel. Makes me sad to see biking on the screens, once a huge bonus it now feels phoney since Blue axed biking. All in all disappointing BUT the service remains awesome.
Love the deep dish Detroit style pizza
Great food and staff
This a great place for delicious burgers and excellent craft beers. Food and service are awesome. I had the double smash burger with Caesar Salad, so yummy with huge garlic bread with cheese croutons, lots of bacon and even a half a hard boiled egg!
Dill smash burger and fries were amazing! Was disappointed we were charged for small cups of mayonnaise and hot sauce for dipping. We asked the server if we d have been charged for ketchup and were told no. Side condiments should not be an extra charge when paying $24 for a burger!!
Overall really good, one of the beers was amazing. The jalapeño burgers was great.
Great food and nice selection of beer. Friendly staff. Perfect venue for date night, friends night or family night l.
Good menu, good food, good service. One of the better restaurants in Collingwood if youre looking for good food.
I ve been here several times and I really liked it but last night s service and food was not good. The waitress brought 3 food orders wrong out of 5. Replaced one immediately. The other two orders we complained about 2 times and she finally went to look into it. We ordered the Huluhulu Hawaiian chicken bowls, but she brought the Burito bowl which came in a bowl with a large chicken breast that was hard as rock and not cut up in a bowl full of salad and chips. I honestly don t know how people can cut up and eat that hard chicken served in a deep bowl. Finally, she offered to replace the meal with what was actually ordered. By the time it came, we were fed up waiting and we took the 2 orders as take out. We were a party of 5, we ordered several appetizers and drinks. For such a mistake, these two meals should have been complimentary. I don t know if we will be going back.
Great spot to get some tasty pub style food. They have great burgers and house brewed beer.
Great local spot ! Happy hour was a hit & the food was delish . Service was fast & friendly thank you Natalie for taking such good care of our large table :)
Good sized portions. I had the wings good flavour but I think the drummets were over cooked. Excellent french fries. Everyones meal was well presented. I think they may be understaffed as food delivery was a little slow but overall a fun experience
Drinks were yummy. Husband loved his wedge fries and the drunken noodles were awesome! Nice atmosphere.
Amazing! Just go.
Best craft beer in Collingwood. The staff is super friendly and the food is amazing. But more about the beer. Wide selection and brewed to perfection. I look forward to going back. Keep up the good work!
Absolutely fantastic experience! Chantal was our server and was amazing! She anticipated our every need and took great care to make sure we had everything we could possibly want. Even offering lids for the dips so we could take them home with our leftovers. She was one of the best servers we have experience in a while. The food was also delicious! The pretzel bites were so good and the Carrot cake/cheesecake dessert was to die for. Thanks for a great evening! Kid-friendliness: There were lots of families there and all kids looked happy and entertained. We would definitely bring our kids back with us in the future.
Just Stopped Here For Some Food And Had Amazing Experience. Major Credit Goes To Our Server Chantal, She Made Everything More Enjoyable And Had An Extremely Good Communication Skills. She Answered All Our Questions And Helped Us Through. She Takes Absolute Pride In Her Work. Overall Great Experience.
The food and beer are great. The service could be much, much better.
Shuck a buck oyster Thursdays is a joke here, sadly. We were counting down the days for it on our week long vacation. We arrived twenty minutes after it started at 2pm and they had already sold out. We were told they only have one guy on staff for oyster shucking so they only order about 500 oysters so that he can handle it. Otherwise, this was our second visit to the restaurant without feeling compelled to get any food other than beer and an appetizer. The food is expensive for what it is. Beer runs 9.50 for 16oz or less but there is a nice selection. A chicken wrap is 24. Burgers run 26 average. Salads for 20. I d rather visit other places in the area.
Great atmosphere and vibe. Went for lunch and a couple of pints. It wasnt too busy, as we went for a late lunch. Would highly recommend Vegetarian options: Hummus Burrito and Cauliflower Burger Parking: If you go at lunch or dinner time, theres less options. Go in between meal times and no issue.
Amazing food every time. The pretzel bites are the main reason we go. So delicious. Hope they bring back the seedy mustard dip for them!
Omfg. Best fish tacos I ve ever had. Fish and chips was bananas. Word of advice: get the curry sauce for your fry dipping pleasure. Solid 11/10 I didn t even notice it was a sports bar cause my eyes weee rolling back in my head from the foodgasm
Friendly & fast service! Hightop lager was great! I had the Asian chicken salad which was underwhelming. Basically a mixed green salad with some peanuts and a water down dressing. I m hoping it was just a fluke. My husband had the general tao chicken sandwich and it was unreal! Super tender chicken & flavourful sauce. Fries were great too!
Cajun shrimp was super good. Then had a beef on a bun. Beer was good. Service was fast Not sure about the grandma plates we got served on lol
Very disappointing experience from the servers who work there and it is not the first time. Servers have consistantly been very rude and unfriendly. Dont recommend.
We come from Barrie for this place! Always amazing! Excellent food, Mmmmm fries cooked in duck fat! incredible!, the smash burgers absolute perfection . Amazing beers on tap, this is my #1 favourite place to stop in when travelling to or through Collingwood!
Great brews and incredible food. Highly recommend!
We loved the spirit, the beers, and the food. The waitress was super nice, patient, and helpful. Super quick and friendly service, a new family favorite Kid-friendliness: There is a kids menu.
Great bar. Menu is just right sized. Often at images too many items and nothing is good. Here what they have is well done and his the spot. Lots of beers on tap to choose from. Would like a little more wine options but then again it is a brew house so...
This place is refreshing and delicious! The servers are quick and well informed. You will not wait long for your order (or drinks) and the food is hot and tasty! Our server was Chantel excellent personality. Thanks for a great time! Next time I m in the area I will be sure to visit again and definitely order the Beet salad . Phenomenal!
If youd like to put a burger patty that you dont need to chew in order to ingest and gravy that youd happily bathe in, this is the place. The burgers here melt in your mouth; it makes me want to cry. Every time. Keep up the great work! Food
Amazing food and service!
The burger was delicious! They have a great selection of beers at a reasonable price. The only downside was that the wings were a little tough.
OK! I m sorry! But I just couldn t help it! I had to have at least one bite of the garlic bread before taking a photo! I ve literally been waiting a year for it! Full confession time: I ve been working as a prep cook in the Northwinds Brewhouse & Kitchen in Collingwood since April 1st 2023, and it s March 31st, so that s about as close as you can get to being a year! I m one of the local retirees who work a few short shifts a week here gets us out and gives us a feeling of being able to contribute! I ve been prepping primarily the pizza/garlic bread dough and the soft pretzels. And I ve prepped the actual garlic bread, and I know for a fact that the final touch on each pan is to place 9 garlic cloves in a pattern on top Pisssst the recipe calls for 8, but no one so far seems to have figured out how to make a square pattern with 8 cloves.. we all opt for 9 a bit of inside info that ll probably have Sous Chef shaking his head! Anyway, the food! Yet another confession my soup was free my choice for my free lunch today and I paid regular price for the garlic bread not included among the free lunch choices! And my ginger beer was free it could have been any one of the numerous house beers, but I felt like the bite of the ginger beer today! So the soup a delicious butternut squash soup I was looking forward to a hardy bowl of soup not happening this butternut squash soup was so delicate that I wouldn t have know it was butternut squash, had I not been in the kitchen an hour earlier and saw Sous Chef obsessively blending it to perfection! The sweet carrot and the house veggie stock must have added to the magic! Now back to the garlic bread while I ve personally prepped 100 s of them, I ve never actually had one all to myself as part of a meal! Wow! While the butternut squash soup proved to be a surprisingly dainty yin, the garlic bread was a formidable yang! Hardy, but tasty, boldly flavourful, without being overwhelming! Loved it! But of course I m biased! Though there s got to be a good reason why I m faced with stacks of empty pizza and garlic bread pans every morning when I come in to work! It all goes somewhere! And keeps going somewhere everyday! So maybe there are others who know how yummy it is as well! Just saying! Lol Bonne appétit!
Just stopped in for a quick drink. Service was great and food menu looked really good. Ill have to make a point of stopping in some day for dinner.
Awesome experience overall. Kendra, our server was great and her recommendations were spot on! We had the pretzels to start. The smash burger and general Taos chicken sandwich. The food was fantastic. Especially compared to the average restaurants food. There was great flavour and you can tell that the ingredients were top quality! We will be back. Thank you Northwinds for taking the dining experience beyond the average!
The food and service was excellent as always. This was my first time visiting on a Friday, it was very loud so chatting with our friends was difficult however it was also very busy so the noise level was to be expected. Love Northwinds, we are already looking forward to our next visit.
Made an entire day trip to conclude being two hours away to enjoy the buck a shuck promo at Northwinds. Yet they ran out less than 30 minutes into it. Absolutely poor planning and a waste of a time. Definitely ruined our day. I get it s while supplies last but less than 30 minutes in is ridiculous.
Went to buck a shuck, amazing ate them all. Some people looked upset they were sold out but better luck next time. I win
Food was awesome, great service worth the trip to Collingwood
My go to place in Collingwood for casual dining. Im not a craft beer aficionado and really appreciate the informed information that all servers have provided along with the amicable service. Great range of food and to those of us of a certain vintage the early 80s choice of music is first class
We went here 2 nights in a row, first night I had the mushroom burger and it was good until I got a huge mouthful of blue cheese.. yuk! My wife had the wings both nights and they were great both nights. My 2nd day had the smash burger. It was amazing!! Also must say the fries are the best I have ever had. They are crunchy, have a spice on them and are to die for!! We will be back when we visit collingwood next. Oh we also had the apple cheesecake mmmmm mmmm! They also have a brewery on site and make their own excellent brews. There is a beer for all tastes.. excellent place & atmosphere
Great food and good vibes! This place gets pretty busy and for a good reason! I went with a group of four and we all loved our food. Three of us got burgers and they were fantastic and one got the lamb pita and it was also very tasty. We got the brewshi to share and it was a surprising star!
Went for drinks after skiing at Blue Mountain Although Northwinds is obviously part of alcohol culture they do have a couple of non-alcoholic beers. So we enjoyed our drinks discussed the ski day and other interests. We didnt eat so cant comment on the food. Parking lot was full and the Brewhouse was also full at 5:30 on a Monday.
The food and service was great! I was driving, so didnt have a beer, but will be going back. My dining companion said that the beer was excellent!
We stopped by on the way back from Blue Mountain. Lots of free parking, amazing selection of locally brewed and hand crafted beer. Fresh food, large portions, the ribs are amazing, fast friendly service, excellent prices, highly recommend.
Mike was an amazing server! Quick, efficient and attentive
Great place for family meet up. They were able to accommodate our family of 19. The service was amazing and we were waited by one amazing waitress and she had other tables also! This waitress is amazing! I ordered the Corn Beef Sandwich, the meat wasn t piled high like some places, but the flavour was great! Unfortunately, they didn t have their pizzas today and would have loved to try their Chicago style deep dish! Next time! Parking: Shared with other restaurants in this plaza, but more parking in the back. Kid-friendliness: Kids had an amazing experience also. Loved the fact that the waitress served the kids first! That type of service is from an experienced waitress. Thank you.
Excellent service thank you Mike. Very good food and you can tell how good the place is by how full it is. Overall all excellent experience.
Everyone is always friendly ! Key part of an experience. I ve always had good food , fast service and they have deals everyday of the week. It s a wings burger and beer place , exactly what you expect. Duck poutine for 16$ you can t go wrong.
Very disappointed in the wings tonight. Good flavor and price but they are very tough! Couldn t finish them, and the ranch dip is watery and not a good flavor. When I mentioned it to the staff they agreed and said they get a lot of complaints. My son s burger and fries were great! And the pretzel balls are always a hit with us. Will be back but not for wings.
Smash burger is ridiculously great.
There s no hot water in the man s bathroom. The tap is freezing cold!
Fantastic mushroom burger and server. They get busy early and dont take reservations, so go early if you can. It can get noisy. Parking: Lots of extra parking in the back.
One of the best brewhouse in Collingwood, a must visit place. Food is fantastics, they serve wide varieties of beers too, ambience is happening, just downside is their service - which is too slow during rush hours. Pricing is on higher side.
That was an amazing veggie Burger
We stopped in for a late lunch/early dinner after a day at the spa. Our server was super friendly and extremely attentive. The food came out very quickly and was delicious. We will definitely be back! Vegetarian options: The falafel wrap was delicious
One of the best burgers and fries Ive ever had.
The orignal Northwinds Brewhouse staff were excellent, warm, accommodating, and genuine. We had several dishes and all were delicious. The smash burger was a messy delight. They do not take reservations, so first come first serve. Plan to wait or get there early but its well worth it. Rustic Brewhouse decor with an open kitchen. Fun spot we will visit again.
Had the braised beef rib which was incredible, especially for the price. Most pubs try to have a fancy menu and either significantly overcharge or fail to meet expectations. In this case, I was extremely satisfied with both the price and quality of my meal. My wife had the Korean influenced salmon dish which was also quite satisfactory. Kid-friendliness: We brought a newborn and a child and didn t have any problems. The staff were friendly and very mindful of our circumstances.
Burger was fantastic. Great beer selection. Server dropped our takeout container lid on the ground and still gave it to us kinda gross, otherwise great experience. Food : 5/5
Yes to everything we had on the menu. Their pizzas are deep dish and super thick, a must have. Fries are super crispy and their short rib was fall off the bone good. And the chocolate cake was dense, not too sweet, homemade, and so so good! Service was A++++. You have to come here!
Started off with a flight of beers and the waitress was very helpful in aiding my decision. The seasonal harvest moon ale was amazing and the rest of them were very good as well! The duck poutine was one of the best poutines I ve had in a while. Kinda like a bougie Osmow s poutine. Got the smash burger for the entrée and it and was pretty ok. The fries are slightly underwhelming.
Most of the food is great! The sandwiches are stunning, but the burgers are a tad lacking in the moisture department. All the menu items with duck are just swell, would recommend to anyone. They use frisee as a lettuce substitute in a lot of dishes...do not recommend...does not add anything but an unpleasant bitterness to the a few truly incredible dishes. Not sure if it was in the coleslaw, but there was something about the slaw that left something to be desired. As for the beer, they have a ton of great options. The Harvey Moon Peach Cobbler Ale may be a new favorite.
Hipster pub with over priced food and beer. The cooks look hilarious.
Great place. Fun atmosphere and great food and beer.
Everyone we dealt with was very friendly. Restaurant was packed and the food came out ridiculously quick, yet was hot and fresh. Very impressed.
Amazing Wagu burger. Great, promt service and a huge selection of craft beers!
Best place in collingwood to get really good pub food and a wide selection of craft beer imo. Been coming here for years never really been disappointed
This place was so tasty post-ski day! All the portions were so generous and delicious. Tried the lamb pita, deep dish pizza, and steak sandwich - all were awesome! The chocolate stout cake at the end was to die for too. Must try!
Chicken and waffles was AMAZING! Followed by a rootbeer float. Worth every calorie!! Topped off with friendly and timely service and live entertainment. What more can you want??!! Way to go Northwinds!!
Beers were delicious and the wings were phenomenal. A cozy vibe and this location is nowhere near as crazy as the location in Blue Mountain Village. Would recommend for a good brew pub with good food. Great service from Mario.
Always a great spot for a quick cocktail or snack!
Very good restaurant. We had the wings and smash burger. Both were delicious. Beer was the best non-alcohol beer Ive had to date. Service was top notch. Would definitely eat here again.
Best garlic bread I ve ever had, paired with an amazing marinara sauce 1000% recommend! Brisket poutine was amazing as well, they have a small menu but focus really well on the quality of their food unlike many other restaurants who serve everything but lack in taste.
Was here last week for a birthday dinner. The weirdo who greeted us told us it was a long wait. Then immediately allowed other patrons to walk in and sit down. The food might make you barf but the servers will definitely make you sick.
I came here with a large party and called to be added to the wait list on a Saturday evening. The service was excellent. However, the food could have been better. Our party ordered chicken wings, fish, chips, and waffles. Our party felt that the food was bland, except for the fries with the fish and chips. Accessibility: slippery floor and no automatic door. High tables or booths avail.
So frikken good! Someone suggested their pickle pizza and it was a blast, along with their basil, garlic, onion pizza. Definitely wanna try their poutine and pork ribs. Cant wait to come back here!
Very disappointed in the latest menu. It offers nothing unique like the previous menu. Just another greasy pub menu. I requested a grilled chicken burger and was served a small piece of chicken on a bun with a side Caesar $29.
Had a great lunch here. Detroit style pizza is really hard to come by and this place has nailed it. Wings were fantastic as well.
Friendly and efficient service, great variety of beer, and tasty dishes, including the wings, burgers and fried chicken sandwich. The Detroit style pizza is a must try!
Wow! Elizabeth at the bar was amazing. The food was probably the best meal I ve had in years. You can t make reservation anywhere in Collingwood, but go here no matter what! 10 of us ate at the bar and every meal was a homerun! Even the kids pizza! There are many places in Collingwood worth missing. This not one of them.
Horrible service from our waiter mike. I don t know if it was comedy or sarcasm but it threw my whole table off. Maybe because he was guaranteed a 18% tip. If it was up to us, we would have tipped 0. This guy was socially awkward, rude and mean. We asked for accommodations to our meal and they couldn t be done. We also came here for our buddies birthday and when we told that to mike we got told quote I don t care it s your birthday and walks away. Our drinks took forever; everytime we asked where our drinks are he blamed it on the kitchen which makes no sense, then we d see him poring the beer himself, after snarky telling us that it s on the way. My friend ordered smashed burger with extra pepper and had to literally scrap off black pepper with the butter knife. When we asked him to take our last plate on the table because one of our guests finished eating their fries. He rudely replies who serves here at the table trying to indicate that we don t know what we were talking about. He never checked on us during our meal. Drinks came late, bills took forever. I been to this location before it was alright. And I been to the village location many many times, but my table of 8 will not be coming here ever again. What an odd and uncomfortable place to eat and chill. Never again. Mike YOU ARE NOT FUNNY. You are rude and inconsiderate.
Had a great time here with my boyfriend. The pretzel bites were yummy and so were the drinks. We had the pizza to go as it was on happy hour and it was also delicious!
I asked for desert they came with the bill . I asked for 7 up they came with a sprite , I asked for a Shirley temple they came with nothing . They came with my burger then I told them it was mine and they walked away . Some guy yelled at me in the bathroom a bit odd but whatevskies. Overall the food wasn t bad.
We came up for lunch and drinks. The staff was amazing, food was delicious! Pizza definitely a must have!
Amazing Detroit style pizza! They sold out right after we ordered so we came just at the right time. We will be coming back to try the other flavors sometime! I also like that they sell Duntroon cider. It is hard to find their 0 sugar, 0 sulfate, organic cider unless you go to the Duntroon cider brewery.
Sat at the pass. Amazing staff. Kitchen and waiting. Food was amazing. Love the pretzels. Guy at the pass was red head. Funny and friendly. Will go again Parking: Tight
Delicious burgers and a fantastic assortment of beer. Attentive and friendly staff. Would highly recommend.
The food was surprisingly good. I was very pleased with my wings, which were enormous and delicious. The fries are exceptional. The beer was decent, but not exceptional. The service was friendly, but very very slow. We waited quite some time to be served and pay our bill and it wasn t busy. Perhaps it was an off day for the server, but we definitely did not feel like a priority.
Lovely vibe & amazing service by Jen. She has so much of energy, super fast service & she has a ton of attention to detail. The Foremast Jacks band really enhanced the overall vibe at Northwinds. Well done lads. Im attaching the QR code for the menu, so that if you have to wait for your table like we did...you can plan what you will order ahead of time (:
This location is definitely better than the one in the village. The service is more attentive although it is bigger and busier. The Mac and cheese is one of the best I ve ever had. The addition of Quebec cheese curbs to top the Mac and cheese is such a great idea. It give you that gooey cheese pulling effect that we all want. The beer infused ketchup was strange and not needed. The chicken wings are average. They didn t satisfy my craving for wings. The fries are also very average for being fried in duck fat
The food and atmosphere are always welcoming and amazing. The server Lyric was a little less than jovial and kind of ruined the experience. Will definitely be back again for the food and the amazing different brews.
Great place to eat with the fam! Came with my cousins as a group of 11 and our server was Jen, who btw was great! Immediately came to grab our drink orders and was super friendly and helped answer questions. We all had a round of drinks, some apps and ofc mains. The deep dish garlic bread and the soft pretzel with the cheese sauce hit hard. It was really good. As for mains I cant recall what everyone got but both my cousin-in-law got the personal pizza, my cousins got burgers, wings, and fish tacos. My cousin was raving about their fish tacos but I was deadest on the Detroit style pizza. Service was great, Jen was on the ball whenever something was ready to show up on the table with whatever we needed. Food did take some time to prep but its to be expected. The wait was worth it and honestly I didnt mind waiting. Kid-friendliness: We had a slightly picky 12yo but he had no problems finding something to eat from the kids menu. Tbh I doubt this place doesnt have something a kid wont like even from the normal menu.
I never expected to wait for an hour and a half for two hamburgers it was the worst service they passed dishes to tables that arrived long after us and the food never arrived we waited too long for nothing that bad service is the worst, one is supposed to take off Hunger erros only made me hungrier than a scarier place
Slow service
Very good service by server Mike. The Smashburger was very good. Definitely recommend it
We don t know if the waitress was stoned but another waitress had to come and intervene. The calamari were over fried, and hard as bricks the hamburger was greasy and and food was overpriced for the quality offered. We won t come again.
Disappointed with french fries no longer home made. For the prices charged shouldnt be frozen
Great selection of beer, and we enjoyed the beer we did try. In terms of food we split the Beef Cheek Potstickers and they were not good so skip those.
Great service, good food, and large portions. Beer is great as well
Everything is amazing, food , atmosphere and employees are so nice
Food was amazing as usual and Mary was amazing with drinks and service
The atmosphere of Northwinds is warm and inviting. The rustic yet modern decor creates a cozy ambiance that is perfect for a relaxing evening with friends or family. The staff members are incredibly friendly and attentive, providing excellent service throughout the entire visit. Northwinds Brewhouse is a gem for beer enthusiasts and food lovers alike. The combination of their exceptional craft beers, delectable menu, welcoming atmosphere, and attentive staff creates an unforgettable dining experience.
Wow! 1st time here and man wish we lived closer. Visited this place on May long weekend busy even at 8pm Monday. Burgers are fantastic! Server was so friendly. So good gotta try !
Its been a while since I been here last (winter) and I sure do miss this place. Great menu, great service amazing atmosphere inside to be in after a long day of skiing/snowboarding. Cant wait to come back hopefully this summer :D
Sadly the amazing Wagyu Beef cheeseburger was replaced by The Hopper. American Cheddar which is processed cheese instead of Swiss and way too much mayo. Really a sloppy mess now please bring back the original cheese burger please
Had a tasty (and very filling) casual dinner here! The selection of beer is impressive: we each did a beer flight and our faves were the foggy shores and the hilltop. We shared cauliflower bites, which had some kick and were good. The personal pizza was really cheesy and baked perfectly, and the jambalaya was great (and huge, got dinner for the next night too!) Love the atmosphere here and the service was decent too.
Remarkable pizza unlike anything I ve ever had. Joe Kools a close second. Had the fiesta-REAL Kalamata olives and lots! Craft beer in abundance. Garage doors open and wonderful experience
I had the Hawaiian pizza, which was deep dish amazing! The Checked Flag Blonde Stout was delicious.
Great local brewery and restaurant! Fantastic service and unique delicious food options. Worth trying the local craft beers, especially enjoyed the Pretty River beer. Looking forward to going back to try there deep dish Detroit style pizza tomorrow.
kierstien our server was amazing, she made choosing our food easy and even brought us samples of the beers. The food was good. Very impressed.
Amaxing food, fish and chips was perfect as was the smash burger. The personal pizza also so good. Sefvice excellent and staff friendly
Great food. Ordered a dish with blue cheese by accident and they still replace it for me with no hassle
Its a nice place for bar food & beer.
Service was quick Food was so-so Busy and loud Food : 2/5
Great food and great prices. Will come back when in town. Our server was ok. I felt like we were annoying him by asking questions about the menu. It was not overly busy but it didn t seem like he wanted to spend any extra time helping us with the menu.
This place never disappoints. Food is always good and fast and the beer is amazing. Great for families. Sarah did an amazing job and talked to our kids like they were adults. Thanks so much for a great dinner
Food was great. Good variety on the menu.
WOW! WOW! WOW! What can I say, we came to Collingwood for a break from the kids and on way home wanted pizza. I looked up pizza and stumbled across MotoPizza located inside Northwinds Brewery The Detroit style pizza photos looked so dang tasty we just had to try it. We ordered two personal size pizzas and only able to finish half. I had the Royale and my husband had the Deluxe both were so delicious and worth every penny. We even ordered one to take home since we live over two hours away. All the food we saw pass by looked amazingly mouth-watering too. The atmosphere was great. Service was amazing and my hubby even enjoyed his craft beer (which he doesn t usually like) I had a cider which was really good, not quite as sweet as sommersby but still refreshing. I wish this place was closer to home because we would be regulars, definitely makes us want to come back to Collingwood again soon :)
I would have rated the food a 5, but my fried chicken sandwich tasted like fish. Im assuming the fish and chips was done in the same oil. Otherwise, everything else was great. Fantastic service, great beer (the staff was very knowledgeable and helpful with the selection), clean restaurant, and everyone else I was with had amazing meals.
We stopped there by chance for a dinner with friends with several children. It was the family night meal for children for $6. Everyone was more than satisfied. The service was perfect and their beer excellent. Dietary restrictions: Nice welcome, fryer dedicated to seafood.
Great beer and food.
Delicious food! Kid-friendliness: They have kids menu Food : 5/5 |
Definitely a brewhouse. Weird to see pop come from a can and not a soda gun at a bar. I had the pakora which was great. I also had the smash burger which sadly was below par. The patties were good but they were cutting corners with the ingredients (processed cheese, old lettuce, and dry buns). I wasnt overly satisfied
Wow! Celiacs can eat there without fear. Fryer just for gluten free!! :)) I ate chicken wings with bbq sauce (safe) and fries on the side. It was good, warm and comforting!!! I recommend!! Dietary restrictions: Celiac!
Large portions, had the fish and chips... tons.
Smash burger always We love to go for lunch on week days and sit at the bar, Jennifer is a great bartender, love the beer selection and the layout of this restaurant, place is clean and organized The retail shop is a great stop on your way out as they stock it with all of their delicious beers ! Highly recommend
a neat place with great food! alot of breweries can have a limited menu..not at Northwinds! we come here for the food as we arent beer drinkers. The place itself has a great location (as well as their place in blue mountain village). Get the pretzels..just do it. Kids enjoy it here as well. Take out always delish too!
Delectable salmon, and fries and key lime pie!!!!!
This place is a must visit if your in the Collingwood area, Great Brewhouse, brewing many Im guessing about 16 or 17 different types of beers, Vibe is extremely good , My server Matt was funny and amazing and we both enjoyed the same types of beer. My fish and chips were a generous tasty size, see photo, Liked the beer so much I bought a 6 pack, I will return here next time I visit Collingwood.
Natalie the server tonight was amazing!!!! Very personable and very attentive to our needs! Loved her and she made our night and the food was amazing!
Great place with good vibes. The beers are delicious! Bang bang chicken and fish chips. Service is attentive and friendly worth a stop. Bathrooms needed a little busing. Vegetarian options: A few to choose from, some real custom cauliflower dishes. Parking: Up front parking and over flow at the rear. Kid-friendliness: Welcoming for kids.
In all of my experiences going to Northwinds - they suck. All of them. The beer is extremely overrated, and the food compositions seem to be made up by a 6 year old. Not a fan and wouldnt recommend to anyone, especially with many better options so close!
Thank you so much to: the hostess, the Raw Bar host and the manager for your help today (sorry I didn t catch all your names, but you know who you are). I stopped in on a whim to pick up the Raw Bar platter to take home to surprise my hubby for our 43rd anniversary! You put it together perfectly and we enjoyed every bite! We will be back again to do it in person!! So delicious!! Thank you again!!!
Good food, friendly happy place.
Passing through and stopped for lunch. Food was very good and service was great. Had the bang bang chicken burger and fish tacos.
Pizza was awesome.. beer was ok. Would go back for pizza any day!
Awesome spot my go to for happy hour and and best bar food in town
I tried the Pilsner Poached Salmon last night and was absolutely blown away. Arrived HOT (temperature) and so much flavour. The heirloom tomato herb salad and lemon butter asparagus were delicious. Hopefully this dish makes the Fall menu cut (or they switch up the veg for seasonal availability). So nice that nothing was fried. The chef really knows how to bring out the flavours of the fish & yummy veg. I miss the Ahi Tuna lettuce wraps but hopefully they come back next summer.
Amazing place, service and food!!
Rough experience at Northwinds for my second visit. First time I ordered the Bang Bang Chicken Sandwich it was a large piece of chicken and quite good, so I decided to come back. This time, however, the kitchen seemed to have been running low on chicken, as the sandwich arrived with several pieces of tenderized & flattened pieces of chicken that was honestly 80% oil soaked badder. It made me feel bloated and gross and couldnt finish it. Couldnt complain because my waiter would disappear for 10-15 minutes at a time. And then when they would ask if we needed something like the bill or sauces, he said he would grab it - and immediately be seen going off to several other tables and disappearing before reappearing many minutes later. Service was terrible. I always leave 15% for bare minimum but this was the first experience in a long time where I felt bad leaving extra money for the person who did very little to earn it and offered no apologies. Very robotic interaction when I asked for their favourite item on the menu. Beer was very mediocre, at best. Fries and wings were good but didnt redeem the overall low quality of the experience. Wont be back. Just go to Huron Club or Low Down. For that matter, even Bellows is better for a night out. Felt like a waste of $50. Oh yeah, and there was a $5 (!!!) upcharge for an upgrade from a big plate of fries to the most lacklustre Caesar salad Ive ever seen or tasted. If you neglect my advice and decide to go anyways, do yourself a favour and sit at the bar. The service I received there from the bartender the first visit was far superior (other than the mediocre beer) to the middle aged man who seemed very off putting for someone who interacts with the general public.
The pizza was fantastic and the service was great! Highly recommended, very busy even on a Thursday evening Parking: Lots of parking to the rear of the restaurant
Fun place to grab a beer from their rotating taps, a good atmosphere with the open kitchen and glass walls to see into their brewing area. Enjoyed the soft beer pretzels that came with a mustard and beer cheese dip that Ive ordered before, and finished with their delicious garlic bread and marinara sauce. Will order both again. Overall, you really cant go wrong stopping by anytime of the day when looking for an easy spot in Collingwood for beer and food.
Service was friendly and quick. Party of 2. However, we each had a burger and fries and a single 16oz draft. With today s obligatory 20% tip it was $92 two burgers and fries and two beers - $92. Restaurants are going to price themselves out of business. Those burgers, while very tasty, were $15 burgers at best not $26 Wit beer was also yummy. Can t knock the food or the service but the prices are out of whack. I took half of my meal home, here s a pic of it.
Asked for a virgin Caesar and had my expectations blown away! Flavour was amazing and the server an absolute delight!! The fries with garlic aioli was better than any other!
Smash Burger was amazing and loved the fries
Food, drinks & service was excellent. I had the mushroom bacon burger with house salad. Sooo good.
Always a good experience. Four stars because: you need to make sure you have non-alcoholic beer for clients. There should be no excuse.
We had a business lunch food was great service was good and was not very loud so we could conduct business
Excellent experience all around. Great food with great service and tasty beers to sample. A must visit if in the Collingwood area.
I had the corn beef . Phenomenal... I recomend. Filling too
Great vibe. Best power bowl I ve ever had. Love that this place isn t too big and it felt homey. Service was just ok. Servers don t seem happy and it took away from the experience, but hopefully just an off night. Would come back.
We stopped in for lunch today and when I saw 20 layer lasagna as an option, I couldn t resist. It s a slab, so if you re not a big eater, you re going to be taking some hard me with you. Being a professional, I cleared my plate. The lasagna was really good. It contains beef and pork, and is very flavourful. The tomato sauce was bright, fresh and delicious. At $22, the value is excellent. I ve eaten here before and never had anything that wasn t great. Having said all of that, be prepared to wait as it takes to me to heat this bad boy through it s not like you re going back to doing anything productive after eating this much lasagna.
Our first visit was several months ago and we had the garlic bread which was really good. Lots of cheese! We also tried the pizza and both were delicious. I tried the Pinto Personal pizza which has dill pickle coins. Very interesting and tasty. My friend tried the Del Ray Personal pizza and enjoyed it. Last week I went again for dinner and I tried the Drunken Noodles and my friend ordered a pizza. The food and service is excellent. If you want to try a local restaurant with some great craft beer, check out this place. Prices are competitive with other restaurants which we all have seen a dramatic increase over the past two years. There is plenty of parking available in front and behind the restaurant.
Fantastic deep dish Detroit style pizza. Great vibes, atmosphere and staff were top notch. would come back again and again...deli style sandwiches looked great!!
Fantastic place, great service, the moto pizza is a must!!! Suuuuuuure would like to be part of the mug club
Ok our food and service was top notch but seriously shout out to Mackenzie the Hostess. She is amazing!!! She really cared that the we were enjoying our food and time. She went above and beyond!
