Great little place tucked in collingwood. Drinks were awesome- old fashioned (served on large ice cube ), espresso martini and whiskey sour(requested to be served without ice). Mouth watering appetizers too (sticky chicken bao and tofu bao), main course was passable although the beef was delicious till hot/warm but chicken was chewy. Would have given 5 if the service was slightly more proactive and friendly. I dont expect to call servers to order drink repeats or condiments, but maybe they were short staffed today. Well give it another try before I make up my mind about this place. Parking: Free after 6p

Excellent food and service, but prices are high. We got the humpty dumplings, tofu bao buns, bulgogi bowl with chicken and two cocktails (Peaches For Me & Seat 7). Everything was delicious! Amber was a friendly and attentive server, and her recommendations were on point. Our bill for two people was over $100 after tip.

The meal was absolutely delicious and really surprised us. Service was friendly and the atmosphere was modern and pleasant. Loved the textures and kick of the crispy tofu bao and the bulgogi bowl, as well as their seasonal Movember cocktail Slow Mo. Well definitely be back. The only downside: Its quite pricey.

I hope you re enroute to Low Down while you read this. The menu is small, but the flavour is on point. I had a friend visiting from out of town, so I brought her here. We started with the dumplings (insanely good) and we each had a Szechwan (spelling?) bowl. UNREAL. The flavour is inane. I ve been craving this for two days since I had. I complimented the meal with a hotel lobby cocktail which was on point. I highly encourage you to march yourself to Low Down and repeat the meal I had. You won t be disappointed. This place is awesome. It has a chill vibe, while delivering a full knockout with the food and drinks.

We had another excellent take-out meal from Lowdown last night. We were celebrating a birthday, and Lowdown is our go-to for reasonably-priced creative food. Thank you Lowdown Bar! One cant go wrong at Lowdown.

We had bao on the patio. It was the first time having bao, for me. I had the chicken bao and it was very tasty. We also had the spring rolls and fries that were also very good.

Holy crap was the food amazing!! Never tried before but was staying in Collingwood for the weekend and needed a Saturday take-out option. Ordered on-line in advance and ready as soon as we pulled up. But the food!!! Noodles and curry were SO good. Salad and dumplings were SO good. But the Shishito peppers? What??? How??? Dont sleep on this appy.

Been here many times and have done their take out as many times. Always always always very good. Excellent staff. Interesting drinks. Relaced atmosphere. A must go in Collingwood.

Not that this wonderful establishment needs my 5 stars but they deserve them. I assume they are storing them up to later bury their enemies in a mountain of glory. But that is just speculation based on observable greatness. The chosen wines are phenomenal, the cocktails are classic and also imaginative somehow. I crushed the Szechuan noodles at what most would consider an embarrassing rate but I simply had no choice. Easily the best noodles I have had since actually living in China and visiting Szechuan. They were so good I had to order the dumplings despite being pressed for time and I am eagerly awaiting them. Staff was friendly and attentive and the food came out very quickly. Visiting on a Monday I m quite impressed with the vibe and the patio is very comfortable.

my boyfriend and i went on a date here last night. Im from the city and thought the vibe was cute. The blonde tall white waitress (she didnt introduce herself to me) completely ignored me. she only took my boyfriends order, and only made conversation with him. She avoided serving me and she made me very unconformable and i felt mistreated and ignored. I asked for the bill because she only took my boyfriends order and not mine. we left immediately after she turned her back on me when i wanted to order. The place was cute but our waitress was trash amd rude to me. Im not sure that if this was because I was asblack girl/interracial couple, but i felt targeted and ignored by the waitress and do not and will not feel comfortable going back there again, when I come back to collingwood.. there was another place near by with great service and great waitress. the service and treatment that I received from that waitress at Low Down was terrible and honestly traumatizing.

The crispy tofu bao is a MUST! So much flavor packed in there. We almost ordered another but decided to try something different instead. All of the food was great! We also really appreciated the non-alcoholic cocktail options.

Great food! Service was marginal. We sat for a long time before anyone offered water or a drink. Food all came immediately, appetizers and mains. We just got our drinks and wasn t expecting all the food at once. No one came to ask if the food was ok ..then when I asked for a glass of wine, the server suggested I check the wine list on my phone! There were only 3 by the glass, I think she could have told them to me! Anyway- great good. Service needs some work!

this place is over rated. The food is overpriced - the portions are small and the spring rolls seem like they re frozen and reheated? i think they re getting good reviews because it s kinda vibey for collingwood. service was off - food came before drinks. server was talking to a table forever vs coming and tending to us (even though there were only 3 parties seated). overall i wouldn t come back.

Everything we ate (most of the menu) and the cocktails we had were outstanding! This was a great local recommendation. Music and vibe of the spot were also bang on. Tom was an exceptional host with great local tips and advice, can t wait to come back!

Tofu Bao is probably the best thing I ve ever eaten. Been coming here for years and it never disappoints! CocoLoco Bowl is also a favourite, I wish it was kept on the menu year-round. Great service and vibe all-around and tasty cocktails.

This is one of the most wonderful bars Ive been to. Not only are the drinks amazing, but the service is TOP NOTCH. I thought I left my wallet at this bar and they moved heaven and earth to try and help me retrieve it. I seriously could not thank them enough. Whenever Im in the area, Ill always stop in for a Boarding Pass!

We genuinely didn t know about the no party bigger than 6 rule. When they told us, we were happy to split our group up to accommodate. I promise when I say we were nothing but positive and trying to work with the hostess, but it was straight attitude like we were such a bother. When she came back to inform us they couldn t make it work, we were met with such negative energy. Also told it s an hour wait, why can t we make resos then to avoid a situation like this? I wish we could ve tried this place out, we were hoping to celebrate my friends 30th birthday. Disappointed we didn t make it past the front door.

I was really looking forward to checking this place out. We had a party of 7, so we asked if we could have 2 tables- breaking us up as 4 and 3, or whatever worked for them- as they only accept parties of 6. We told that hostess that we were willing to wait if need be. The hostess said she would have to ask management, which I felt was weird. She came back and said no. There was no conversation about how they could make it work for us. We were not offered to have a drink at the bar. As someone who has worked years in the restaurant industry I was surprised, so we went to another place that was willing to accommodate us. I would not go back as the interaction was less than inviting. It seemed personal.

The Low Down is a cocktail lovers perfect haven. Wonderful staff, a welcoming vibe and an excellent bartender, Jake. We loved it so much that we were there two nights in a row. Creative balanced cocktails and delicious Asian snacks. Looking forward to returning!

Two words, Bao buns! Ok two more words Banh Mi Fries (ok, that is more than two). Throw in the pork belly, it is heaven!

Hands down one of my favourite places to visit. The atmosphere is second to none and welcoming to everyone. The food and drinks are always amazing and could compete with any restaurant in Toronto. We make a point to visit every time we are in Collingwood. The bartender, Jake, is so friendly and personable, it s a bonus that he makes the best drinks around. Thank you for always providing an amazing night out!

Everything here is immaculate. Best bar in Collingwood. Listen carefully: get the tofu bao it is exceptional. I ordered one and then quickly a second one after a few bites. Cloud like soft bread, seasoned crispy tofu, amazing sauce that is balanced so well with the sliced chili. Really a 10/10 sandwich, best tofu sandwich of my life (I ve had a lot). Cocktails were crazy good. Had the hotel lobby, which was tequila and cucumber flavour, it was amazing, and their classic paper plane was really tasty with a cute garnish. I could go on and on about low down 5/5 stars, you should go here to experience it. Trust me.

I recommend the crispy tofu bao, banh mi fries (with pork belly), and the bibimbap. Vegetarian-friendly.

You know this place is good when a nearby restaurant recommends that you try it out. It s a small place with not a lot of seats so be prepared to wait if you re going during peak hours. The drinks are prepared by a mixologist. You re in the right place if you like drinks. The food was by far the best that I ve had in recent memory. I just returned from south east Asia and was craving their food. The pork belly fries are a must get! The pork belly was so soft that it melted in your mouth. The bao was also very soft and delicate as you bit into it. I really wish this place wasn t so far from home. PS the music is on point!!

The best restaurant and cocktail bar in Collingwood. The food is amazing quality, and everything on the menu is absolutely incredible. The drinks are phenomenal, fresh/real ingredients and extremely innovative. The owners are outstanding and the staff is awesome. Everyone is treated with kindness and respect, very inclusive space. They have a great environment with good energy, music and vibes. I have only good things to say, every experience there is excellent. They re also very involved in the community and have some awesome shows and events, look out for them on the website. Don t think twice and go eat/drink here!

Great fusion food and cocktails! The curry and sweet butter bao was amazing, good choice in the seasoning and meat (pretty juicy). Authentic, approved by a south east asian here! The ramen was an A for effort, unique taste of sweet and spicy, but would consider a flipped car as the chinese would say.

Delicious food; absolutely amazing combination of flavours and ingredients. We enjoyed the chicken bao, the kimchi fries, and a coco-loco beef bowl. So delicious! The drinks were also nice, and the atmosphere was comfortable. A great spot for a special summer dinner. It was was pricey, but worth it! Every bite was perfect.

Love the food at Low Down! Always rotating the menu. There will be times when the menu appeals more or less to you throughout the year. Of the 10+ different dishes Ive tried, I think Ive only ever felt meh once or twice - the vast majority of dishes are extremely delicious, with great ingredients, ultra-fresh produce, and attentiveness to the plate that is palpable. Several experiences here have left me food drunk and just saying wow. Kimchi Elote Fries, Ramen (!!!), Banh Mi Fries, Braised Beef Noodle Bowl, and Pork Belly Bao (seasonal/off menu) are among my top favourite dishes. Make sure you get multiple things with friends so you can all share! Drinks are always amazing, alcohol or no. Service is great here, they clearly train their staff very well and Ive only ever had one off night for service in the many times I have eaten there. Super attentive, friendly, & helpful staff members. Eating in is fantastic, great atmosphere. But they also always nail take-out, never had any issues with freshness or presentation. Their events are also a blast. Just go already!

This was takeout and food review only. Oct 2023, we see Laksa is added to the menu. The last Laksa we had was earlier this year in a small place in Singapore. Laksa is all this place served, and on the wall was a picture of the owner with Gordon Ramsey, who came to have their Laksa. My review of the Low Down Laksa is that Ramsey needs to pay them a visit for a picture on the Low Down wall. Low Down Laksa is amazing and everyone needs to have it.

What a fabulous menu - 10/10 would travel just to eat here again (and try a few more cocktails). -- After visiting about three times over the last year when weve been around town, I can happily vouch for an excellent rotating menu and a super lovely staff. Last night we tried the current iteration of Bao on the menu and both left raving about the tofu bao. HOW DO THEY GET IT SO CRUNCHY? But also not oily or gross. Cocktails were lovely. Always happy to be around Collingwood to grab a seat at this gem.

We had a great dinner at Low Down. The food was SO delicious. Our faves were the chicken bulgogi bowl, crispy cauliflower and shishito peppers. We especially appreciated our server and how he was able to accommodate our food restrictions (one gluten-free and one lactose intolerant). The drinks were also AMAZING.

The food, service and atmosphere are always on point. From the custom drinks to the Banh Mi Fries, Crispy Tofu Bao (I dont eat tofu often but this was perfect), Bulgogi and the Penang Curry, we could not find anything on the menu we didnt like.

We got the Tofu Bao, Bahn-mi fries and Pad Thai for take-out on New Year s Eve. Everything was super delicious but the tofu bao was our absolute favourite. I d definitely recommend trying it if you visit here. We re looking forward to coming back once the dining room is open again so we can try the cocktails and some more food.

Take-out night was absolutely delicious, and many thanks to Low Down for their insanely delicious tofu, chicken, pad Thai and the sticky Chinese chicken bao! I have never enjoyed dining on their awesome summer patio, but I certainly do enjoy their FOOD! 10 out of 10 Low Down Team!!

Lowdown is a gem in Collingwood. The staff is welcoming and outgoing. Our food was delicious- I had the veggie ramen 10/10. The cocktails are super creative and delicious- they even have options for mocktails made with non-alcoholic spirits. The valentines day cocktail was so creative and perfectly crafted. The restaurant is a fun and intimate setting, I highly recommend visiting on your next trip in town!

While visiting in semi formal attire I had a decent experience. However, when I showed up in work clothes to notify staff that a local resident had lost a piece of jewelry outside the store I was treated pretty condescendingly by the female staff/owner and was quickly dismissed. The gentleman on the other hand was accommodating and understanding.

The Lowdown is one of those restaurants you ALMOST dont want to tell people about - for fear of not securing a reservation! Robin, the fabulous bartender, guided us through the menu and we had the most delicious selection of food. The layers of flavours and freshness has us already planning our next visit. Lowdown fires on all pistons - probably why its always packed!

I friggin love this place. For sure it is a bold faced love. Great food. Like seriously awesome. Rotated menu to keep you awake - and it s always excellent. Cocktails are fab. The peeps are totally delightful. When we are away, we come to the Low Down to feel home again. Coated in Char Siu sauce.

Great place, love the tofu bao! Bipimbop was pretty tasty but the ponzu bok choy was flavour less. Way to many sesame seeds on everything but that may just be a personal preference

We stopped in for a quick drink on Tuesday night while on a girl s getaway, and ended up staying for 3 hours! The bartender (I can t believe we didn t catch his name I wish we had because he was an absolute delight!) was INCREDIBLE! The drinks were amazing and unique but the staff definitely put this place over the top. Just an absolutely perfect evening. We will definitely stop in again next time we re in town, and make sure we have room for all of the delicious food we saw going by all night!

We also got the bahn mi fries and they were delicious and perfect . Don t listen to the kid who reviewed and said they were overdone. This is a gem spot!

Visited for the first time today and wow! The drink special of the day with tequila and mango + peach puree was an excellent recommendation by our server, and both the chicken and tofu baos were fantastic!! I live in Toronto and already wanna go back to Collingwood for more!

Oh wow, great find. You must try their appi fries with tofu. Best tofu we ve ever eaten. There seem to be a dozen ingredients in the toppings and it all comes together beautifully. Our drinks were fantastic as well.

Stopped in here for post dinner cocktails with my fiancée on a few referrals and very glad we did! Got out of my comfort zone of beer, tried my first Old fashioned and Tom Collins! They were delicious! The lady LOVED thier house speciality cocktail the road to zion while we didnt eat there this time the menu looked very interesting, we will most definitely be back to try it and some more great drinks!

I m grateful for the friendly, laid back atmosphere here. In town to visit Elderly family members, and was looking for a place to relax and have a cocktail - Low Down was the perfect place for that. I arrived and the patio was very busy, the food looked delicious (but I had just finished dinner). I started with the Engine Number Nine - which is a perfect dessert drink. A Smokey, rich flavour (from the toasted marshmallow syrup) lingered to mix with the fresh, tart & sweet lime juice. Those flavours combined perfectly with the Agua Santa Mezcal. They had friendly staff who had great suggestions for drinks, and refreshing conversation. There were a few other customers who came in and sat at the bar, and each was friendly (b/c clientele does affect an establishment s vibe). I love that Low Down is recognized as an LGBTQ2S friendly establishment as well.

Fun atmosphere, tasty menu items. Great drinks! Id go back for sure! Chicken Bao Bun was my fave.

Great little snack bar in the heart of the art district in collingwood with amazing drinks and a outstanding food to complement. We shared a 4 cocktails and had the buns/ bahnmi tofu fries and the tuna nachos. A must visit when in the area.

Food and drinks were amazing! Some of the best Asian fusion food I ve had in Ontario. The crispy chicken bao and lost in laos rice bowl were standouts. Service was great and we got to meet the chef Jeff, who was super nice. They had good music playing and it was a fun dining experience! Will definitely go back.

Great food. Great drinks. Great atmosphere. Friendly service was the cherry on top! We tried almost the whole menu pork belly fries, bao bun, beef noodles and the chicken dish. The portions were healthy and there were lots of different tastes coming through each dish.

The banh mi fries with pork belly is to die for. So delicious and fantastic. We also ordered the tuna nachos and we were not disappointed in the slightest. They also have a great cocktail menu and wine list. The service is top knotch and its a total vibe. One of my favorite spots in Collingwood. If youre in the area, be sure to check this place out!

My husband and I visited Low Down Bar when we stopped by Collingwood. We ordered the Tuna Nachos, Clucker Bao, and Chinese Braised Beef Noodles. They were all packaged very well for takeout. The best item was the noodles, such good flavor and it looks like a small portion in the box but it s very filling and stuffed! The Tuna Nachos were also delicious. We recommend mixing all the ingredients together because we had mostly vegetables left at the end/bottom of the box. We saw reviews RAVING about the bao but honestly we have had much better in Toronto. We would pass on the bao. Overall, the best restaurant we tried during our stay!

Environment was amazing and everyone was super friendly. Service was fantastic and the staff was very attentive. The drinks looked amazing and were honestly delicious. Am planning to go back whenever Im in Collingwood

The Bahn Mi fries are to die for!!! Tiger beer was GRRReat!! Smoked salmon sushi bowl was a generous size- however it was way too spicy to enjoy (despite telling the server I m a total wimp).

Walked in for dinner with my wife on a Monday evening. Great Thai-style food and excellent cocktails (the holiday special, Moscow mule and paper plane were all perfect). Sat at the bar and we had a good chat with the bartender. Plus, live music! On a Monday. Totally unexpected and great.

Great venue, amazing food

Good cocktails and good presentation, but I found the food fell pretty flat and lacked flavour. I also ordered the salad and added tofu, which they forgot to add and then later just brought out a bowl of cubes and flavourless tofu?? Probably would ve preferred to have just not gotten it. Would probably only recommend going for a few drinks!

Great spot to check in Collingwood. Didnt try the food but menu looked great. Drinks were fantastic and they even brought water bowl for pup on the patio. Will go back for dinner for sure.

Very different menu from other restaurants.

Went for dinner last night. Our server Kyle was very friendly and attentive got everything right and was overall great. The food was even better. We had the Pad Thai and Bao. Both were excellent, I would highly recommend trying the Bao its one of my favourites. I also appreciate the seriousness the staff took the covid protocols and were doing what they can to keep everyone safe while still enjoying the dining experience. I cant wait to go back or order take-out.

Absolutely wonderful food! The coffee Chinese chicken bao was so fresh, while the ahi tuna nachos were so flavourful that each bite was an adventure. Not busy here either as the wife and I were the only ones there. Very intimate setting and the atmosphere itself was very relaxes and chill with good music too. Service was great too.

Have been ordering take outs from them for a while now. Food quality is always consistance. Love their curry and Id say the best Pad Thai in town.

Fantastic and they are very accommodating to groups. Order apps and share mains. The staff puts their heart and soul into their guests enjoying the excellent food and cocktails

Great spot!

I love this place ,been going for months; the old menu had delicious beef braised noodles that never made us sick. Thursday I was excited to try the green curry with chicken. I got my take out on time and started eating it shortly after. I ate most the chicken first, my daughter was the first one to take a few bites and feel off, I brushed it off and ate her chicken from it . After eating the chicken I didnt feel too good either and for some reason could stomach the dish anymore and got sick. I dont know how the chicken was cook or is deep fried :@ but please stop serving chicken bring back the beef.....sadly quality dropped. Sorry I wish quality was the same, and only 2 main options does scare a lot of people off. Thank you

Nice small intimate bar, great cocktails and wonderful food choices. The tuna nachos and wonton salad were both delicious. Cocktails we tried were all delectable. Staff was great, knowledgeable and friendly. Would definitely recommend and will be back.
