The steak was cooked to perfection and was just one of the amazing dishes served in the meat platter that we shared with plenty of leftovers to take home. Attended a private function here the other day. Not Impressed. First reservation was that, when I arrived, the self serve salad looked dried out, like it had been sitting out for a few hours. Come the meal time, the soup was chicken noodle. Who wants pot noodles when the Google Maps shows $30-40 per person. As all was included, I want for Smoked Sausages with apple sauce, ($21), one of the lowest priced items on the menu, figuring that, as I dont tend to eat a lot at a meal, that would be good. No. The seasonal vegetables turned out to be a seasonal vegetable. Carrots. I like carrots. Cook them a lot myself. But I dont stew them until theyre almost liquid. Ick. Sausages were extremely chewy. Nah! Overall, based on one experience, quality or quantity? I dont think Ill look to go back.

I ve been there twice with friends I had the liver and onions and it was absolutely perfect only wish they had mashed potatoes. My other guests had steaks and they were excellent cooked exactly as asked. Very nostalgic throwback to the old steak taverns wouldn t change a thing.

I made reservations Thursday night day before. 5 orders were steaks. When served we were told they only had 1 baked potato when 6 were ordered. I asked to talk to the manager and the waitress came back with a phone. It was his wife and I was told that I didnt want to talk to him because he wouldnt be very nice. Neither was she, didnt apologize, defending that they dont know how busy they are going to be and the prices on the menu were from 2009 because the person who built the web site wasnt around anymore. If you are planning on going I suggest you dont, they have been in business 45 years she told me and really they need new management. Decore is 45 years old and the people running it are way out of touch .

Ive been dining here since I was a little kid. Great steaks. Dated but for some reason I like that it hasnt changed much.

The atmosphere and customer service was very good, the food though not so much. The steak my husband had was almost raw, it was so rare. The cabbage rolls I had were pretty much inedible, they were just bad and looked even worse. Will not be returning. Sorry.

Dietary restrictions: A celiac was with us...she had a gluten free and enjoyed it. Kid-friendliness: Two kids were with us...made to feel included and welcome.

Needs a renovation it looks old dont let it detur you the food is great the prices are real good considering the amount of food you get portions are huge

If i could give it a 0 i would. Our group of 14 had to wait almost 2:30 hrs for our food. Seems they are short-staffed for quiet some time now which also attributed to the so-so service and really bad food. My medium rare was almost blue and the bacon was undercooked and white. Just a bad experience overall, not impressed

My husband and I both enjoyed the Prime Rib dinner special, which included soup, salad, dinner rolls, vegetables, dessert and coffee/tea. Everything was delicious and the prime rib cut was very generous.

We have gone there quite a few times for birthdays, and it seems things are going down hill every time. The service is very slow, we werent asked if we wanted our coffee/water touched up, the carrots were mush, the potatoes had no flavor, they didnt have items that they usually have. Being Fathers Day you would think they would have planned better and stocked up, considering we were there only an hour after they opened. The tables are so close together that we had to play musical chairs and interfere with the other table just to get up to get a salad. The woman at the cash was really nice, that was really the only positive!

Firstly..UPDATE your website! None of the prices or pictures were accurate! We were a large party and had pre-booked but they didnt adjust for that. I understand all businesses have staff shortages; but most restaurants will pull a waitstaff or two to help with the delivery of food. Our meat arrived and our sides 15 minutes later?! As for the meat , very substandard and the most unique and unappetizing cabbage rolls I have ever seen/tasted. Mine had one straggly strip of cabbage wrapped around a DRY meatloaf lump. Nasty! Will definitely not recommend to anyone.

Delicious steak, endless salad bar! This restaurant has been around for 45 years. They made it through covid and are still serving up the best steaks.

Great value for the money. Friendly, small town feel. Interior could use some updating - but who cares? Free soup if you bring your own container is a nice touch. I will be going back soon. I wish them continued success.

Heard they had great steak. It wasnt. Frozen fries not fresh cut. Very dated and stale inside and out. Still seemed like a popular spot for locals. Our waitress was nice.

The food was so so good. We had soup and salad served before the meal. Filled us right up with the cheese bread and escargot. Steak cooked beautiful. We had questions walking in but the food and service was great. Quite atmosphere but great time.

Food Is okay... you get a lot for what you pay for but lacks a lot of flavor. Salad and soup before the main meal .. by the time the food comes youre full.

Stay Away! This place has the slowest service, anyone could ever experience. We had 6:15pm reservations and ordered by 6:35pm No one (especially the waitress) explained or acknowledged the delay our food was experiencing. Garlic bread and escargot arrived before our salads (30min after ordering) salad arrived 20min after we scarfed down the garlic bread and escargot Soup was to accompany the meal, and we had to ask about the soup (waitress thought she already brought it out) Entree finally arrived after 8:15pm Coffee/tea and dessert came with my meal. I had to ask for my dessert to go, since we had already been in the restaurant for over 2hrs (forgot to get my coffee too) You believable. Turned out their kitchen was slammed, but we all felt that the establishment didn t care for the tourists dining there as they shrugged and didn t think it was a big deal that our meals took so long Sure, this place offers great serving sizes, but if you re expecting to be served attentively as anyone dining guest, avoid this place as much as possible!

Saw great reviews & wanted a local mom & pop shop, it was full house when we went in for our Reservations right on time! Saw the notices about short staff but didn t anticipate Waited almost 1 hour for salads, breads & appetizers only to realize everyone got their soups of the day until I asked by this time it was over the 1 hour mark. We finally got our main courses in 1. 45 mins. Thought we were going to end up eating there while they re closed? The food was good but while my hubby only eats med well his T-Bone was barely medium. As for the meat platter the veal & sausage was good only. My friend who ordered the special of the day did not even get her coffee or tea that it came with? We didn t want to ask in case it took 1/2 hour more? The wait staff were nice it s not their fault but they never apologized to us for waiting for so long? Though the food was good it wasn t gourmet or anything extravagant worth waiting 1.45 mins for to eat or anything you haven t tried. Also by the time you get your dinner you ll be so hangry anything would taste good. We didn t get out of there until 8:40 pm & missed our last 8pm pool time. Our reservation was at 6:15pm. So unless you are not hungry at all and don t mind sitting inside while watching them trying to figure it out & have over 2 hrs. to kill with nothing to do nearby as it s far away from the main area & willing to settle for OK food? Plan on wasting min 2.5 hours of your vacation time with your family & friends & kids during dinner. Or maybe you re a couple in love but if it s your first date & you re NOT into each other & you don t drive good luck

Was there for the first time the food was absolutely terrible and for 44 dollars for their anniversary dinner was so not worth it had to send back my stake it was bloody the lobster was rubbery the carrots were so overcooked they were mushy the backend potato was burnt on the bottom and was just plain I will never go there again

Went to the 44 anniversary. on 14 April. had a T bone steak of $34.00 odered it well done came to me pretty bloody. sent it back still very bloody.,,,was not pleased... was very busy didn`t want to make a fuss place was packed.. Dog enjoyed i..... second thought abut going back

Although we had to send our steaks back to be cooked longer the meals were good. The portions were very large thats for sure.

We went with a party of 11 that included two toddlers. The staff was wonderful, friendly and attentive. Dinner was fantastic and portions meant we all needed doggy bags. We will definitely be going again and gladly recommend.

Hoststess was a perfect poster child for what not to do. 1st eating a plate of food at cash when we entered 2nd had some random person come in and sit at the front counter and continue to do nothing. 3rd floss her teeth her station for all in the restaurant to watch. Im not talking about a tooth pick. Im talking about doing her entire mouth. The food was not very good either, most meat was overcooked, dried out and tough to chew.

I was running a 42 km run from wasaga to collingwood and back and I got thirsty so I stopped at Rock Dell and I had some water with ice and a Pepsi with ice served to me and I asked how much do I owe you and she said nothing ... that was a really nice gesture from the owner and I continued running .... I will definitely come back to RockDell again for a meal

Walking up to the door I noticed a sign that said please be patient we are short staffed. So I walked in expecting to be waiting at the door for a few minutes. When I walked in I saw that there was only one table that was currently occupied, the waitress/hostess was in the back doing something, Im not sure what as her back was to the door, and she was hunched over a table. I stood there for 10 minutes, possibly a little longer. At one point she looked back directly at me and then turned back around to the table. I was never acknowledged and I ended up walking out.

Loved the atmosphere, my food was not great and the service was meh..wouldnt go out of my way to recommend this restaurant but in a pinch its ok.

A great place to go to get a nice steak dinner for a reasonable price. The chef typically undercooks so if you want medium rare, order a medium.

Fantastic little steakhouse. Real old school, could use a freshen up, but I don t go for the decoration. Lots of delicious food for very fair prices. I ve been a few times and had great experiences each time. This particular visit we ordered the combo platter for two. So we had salad bar, soup, bread, roasted potatoes, veggies, and the meat plate had two cabbage rolls, schnitzel, two sausages, two beef tenderloin, two huge pork chops, and a pile of bacon on top just for lols. For $62. Come on. Love it

Tonight we bought dinner for Fathers Day. We often visit the Rockdell for special occasions and it never disappoints! It has been around for over 40 years and for a good reason. Big portions and steak done exactly how you like it! The food is always amazing and the staff are friendly. Highly recommend!

Stopped in On a hunch due to the parking lot being packed. Did not disappoint. The food was absolutely amazing. Steak was tender and service exceptional. I would definitely recommend and we will be going back. So much food we had leftovers.

I had pickerel, my husband had steak. Both were swimming in water from the boiled carrots, that were mushy. Couldnt pick them up on a fork. Lentil soup was almost too salty to eat. Anyone with heart failure would have to double their meds. Greek salad was with iceburg lettuce and had cucumber, tomato, and olives, no onion or peppers. Dressing was creamy caesar...AND.... They gave a guy his take-out soup in a used sour cream container!!!! Pretty sure thats against health and safety codes. Very disappointing after reading reviews. Only plus? Waitress and hostess were courteous and polite.

Awesome steak house right between collingwood and wasaga beach on the old highway 26. It has been there for as long as I can remember and I recall eating there even as a young kid. The steaks have always been high quality and meals have always been top notch.

I don t like to be rude, especially since our waitress was very kind. But I think it could definitely be better. Pleased with the staff but the food was somewhat bland and not anything special. Left with a bit of an upset stomache aswell but I think this place needs some work. Again very nice people, just not that great of food. I m sorry

We ordered a takeout on Mothers Day, 2020 during the COVID 19 - Platter for Two, advertised on the menu posted on the website for $45.00. The total bill including tax was $63.28. We began to think about this, rechecked the website and just thought that a mistake was made in the calculation. My husband, who picked up the order called today (Tuesday) and was told that there was no mistake, that the price is now $56.00 which reflects about a 25% increase from the advertised price. The excuse provided was that prices have increased over time and that they couldnt find the webmaster to make the change. We took family members for dinner in late October and it did not cost $56.00 for the platter!!!! it was not Bessie or Penny that we spoke with - the person who took the call was less than willing to compromise. We will never return to Rock Dell nor will our family!! Too bad!!

25$ sunday specials, prime rib or ribs I got to try both. Both come with vegtables, homemade chicken noodle soup, greek salad, baked potato, coconutcream pie and a coffee. Sooooooooooo good. First time here they have been opened 42 years. Very clean and friendly staff. I will be back wish I would have taken a picture.

Consistently good. Meat platter is INSANE. Enough meat on the platter for 2 to feed like 5 ppl.

The only thing that I liked was the garlic bread. I had chicken fingers which, Im sure, were no name grocery store brand and the salad bar consisted of lettuce with tomatoes, pickles, dressing and feta cheese, thats all. I got my food last, it was chicken fingers with way over boiled carrots (mush) and a tiny bowl of fries, mabey 8. I will never return because when I got home, I immediately ran to the bathroom and evacuated everything I had ate. Yuk.

A couple of months ago we were here for an anniversary dinner with a group. The restaurant was basically empty. The service was not attentive. There are no options to swap out sides for most meals. I ordered a burger, as did my husband. Both were burned on the bottom. I would have sent it back if the waitress had come to ask us how our meal was. Instead, I just brought it home for my dog. My son got the kids spaghetti which he enjoyed. Hes 2, so the lack of flavour in the sauce didnt bother him. My sister-in-law got spaghetti as well and was very underwhelmed. I also had some of my mother-in-laws turkey special as she couldnt finish all of hers. The gravy and potatoes had no flavour and the presentation was awful. We will not be back.

Awesome family owned, home cooking. Cozy atmosphere, terrific service. Homemade soup was delicious, salmon was huge and flaky and our son had the meat platter and didn t even need a knife to cut meat! We travelled from Petrolia to ski and this was a great last night meal.. we will be back!

Only thing that was good about this meal was the salad....The cream of cauliflower soup was just ok...the cabbage rolls had a charred taste and the sauce was horrible and my grandsons burger wasnt cooked Then when I wanted to pay with my debt card I was told I had to use their ATM...we are visitors from out of town but would not return.

Good food rustic

I wasnt impressed at all by the food. The garlic bread was cold and when we asked for warm bread, they microwaved it and brought it back. My friend ordered the veal cutlet with a tomato sauce which turned out to be tomato soup. Medium steaks were all rare and dessert was freezer burnt pie. This was my first time at this restaurant and will very much be my last.

I had surf & turf yesterday. It was a very good meal. My wife had the veal and it was a very good portion for the price. The service was good and fast.

We went for the big Surf and Turf special. It was mayhem! The place was packed and deafening. Service was ok. Meal came out in pieces, salad, then steak and lobster, then potato, then carrots. I like to eat steak and potatoes together, but hard to do when served like that, not to mention too many dishes to keep track of and place on the table with so many other having the same issue. I dont like lobster but ordered it so my bf could have it, my steak was a bit over cooked (med rare, was more medium) which wasnt too bad, but it was not a good cut of meat. Lots of gristle and tough. The baked potato was the best part! The coconut cream pie was really good for dessert. This is the third time Ive eaten here in the past 2 years and I honestly wasnt wowed. I dont think the quality is worth the price. $129 for dinner (incl tip) for 2 people, with 2 beer.

Went for the anniversary $35 Surf & Turf meal. First off, I understood it was a $25 special, so when we got the bill for almost $100 at the end I was a bit shocked. For that price, I have had MUCH better meals.. but we did find out at the till AFTER our meal that the price included salad and dessert as well. The place was PACKED. And it was so loud I couldnt hear myself think. We were jammed in at long tables like sardines in a can. We couldnt hear the servers at all, so dinner conversation didnt happen. I was quite disappointed in my meal. My steak was overcooked, chewy and cold. Lobster is not my thing, so I gave it to my boyfriend who said it was just ok. Everything was served separately so there was quite a span of time between items. By the time the mushy carrots and baked potato came, I had lost my desire.. unfortunately, as the tiny baked potato and the pie were the best parts of the meal. My boyfriend didnt want dessert (he was full) but we werent told that it was all part of the price, or wed have taken it home. Now, Ive eaten here quite a few times in the past, I can honestly say that Ive never been WOWED, but its been decent food.

The Rock Dell is a family favourite, though we hadnt visited in a while. The service is always great, all staff are super friendly. We had the pork chop dinner and the sausage dinner and both were delicious. The salad bar is a really nice touch, and the food is always perfectly cooked. You wont find anything fancy here, just delicious food, just like home cooking.

Great place to go for dinner. Servers are fabulous friendly making your visit pleasant. I was disappointed with the barbecue ribs. They were meaty, tender but had no taste barbecue sauce terrible. Dinner buns dry. First time I was disappointed with my meal.

The Fillet was not worth the money, the service was OK but when we went to pay we were informed credit or cash only no debit. There is a bank machine there which they get quite the hefty usage fee form. My recommendation would be to go to catch 22 where I know the steak is awesome.

The food was ok, the whole place is an experience....which is worth the visit. Be prepared to be transformed back to the 70s....the only thing missing was Jello. Way too much meat on the meat platter for one...not the best quality meat either, and I asked for my steak to be rare, it was well done and not very pretty.
