The Siamese Gecko is Thonburi Thai Food open 7 days/week Monday - Sunday 12:00 - 8:30 (705) 446-9998
Stopped by this place while charging our vehicle. I got the Thonburi pad Thai. It was a good portion size. It was a bit too sweet and sticky for my taste. My husband got a rice dish and he very much enjoyed it. He did ask for it to be spicy and it was the perfect spice level for him. The service was awesome, the staff was really sweet and friendly.
Terrible Thai food. I wasn’t expecting much out of this place because it’s in Collingwood, but even still, they managed to disappoint. The tofu was not fresh and tasted rubbery. The flavouring was not right. I don’t understand why this place has such high reviews.
Avoid at all cost if you’re seeking somewhat good Thai food! I honestly don’t want to post bad reviews especially to a fellow Asian restaurant (being Asian myself). But I’m raging after eating this food, as it was far from Thai food. I wasn’t expecting authentic Thai food in collingwood, but this wasn’t even Thai food. It was just a concoction of leftover veggies that was not used by the end of the day and they just used for our take out + minimal seasoning (as you can see from the pad Thai photo). I don’t know who are the chefs in this kitchen but they definitely has not visited Thailand nor had authentic Thai food.
Food was amazing! So many options. Had the red curry soup and one of the stir fry. Salivating just thinking about them. And food came within 15 mins of ordering!
Very cute restaurant with cozy and welcoming decor. The menu has many options for all dietary requirements. The menu prices are reasonable. They only accept cash, debit or etransfer. No credit cards. The beef salad was tasty. There's a hint of sweetness and mint making it refreshing taste. The curries were all tasty with good depth spice and flavors. The pad thai looked pretty good too. #31 noodle soup was kinda different taste. It had a sweet and sour broth which reminds me of Filipino style sinigang soup. Overall the experience was good. I think there are lots of options here. I beleive the taste and cooking methods lean towards being more locally friendly rather than authentic Thai flavors. The restaurant was completely full when we started eating so they have a loyal client base. Support local businesses in Collingwood glad they are doing well.
Best place for authentic Thai food. Service was so quick and fast. Came back the next day because food and service was that good and quick. Very nice staff as well. Would recommend the pad Thai and the curries. Would come back!
We were a group of 13 that dined in at this very authentic Thai restaurant today August's 18, 2024. The ambiance, food and service were top notch. Everything was 200% delicious. it was so good that we all had to order extras to take home. The service was excellent, with very patient, friendly and attentive staff who were knowledgeable about the menu and happy to make recommendations. Honestly, the best Thai food i have eaten in canada period! The 23.1 was finger licking and tongue smacking good. Next time we are in Collingwood we will definitely stop by again. Thank you so much.
What I loved about this place is that all the traditional Thai dishes had a twist. Intentional or not, not sure (: it was refreshing to have the familiar dishes with a different ingredient, different noodle, different colored rice. Everything felt fresh and yummy.
Very good delicious food
The flavours knocked our socks off. Wow. Authentic Thai. Can t wait to go back.
The food is delicious and priced very reasonably. We ordered several dishes and shared them since portion sizes are big enough for sharing. We had Gang Panang (30), chicken Pad Thai (9), Yum M-Muang Mango salad (3), Yum Nua Beef Salad (4). All very yummy!! Great service and nice atmosphere. Fed 4 of us perfectly for under $100. They also have a corkage fee which I love at restaurants. Will definitely be going again and again and again.
Had the best time ever. Thornburi Thai was a wonderful surprise. Great staff, great food and great service. We had kow soi and pad se ewe (sp?) there were so many other dishes we wanted to try but we didn t even finish the two we ordered. We ll be back with friends ps check for live music
Super delicious food, huge variety of options! Service was very nice, passing through the area and they let us bring our dog on the patio, even brought her out a bowl. Would definitely go back!!
Great food and friendly staff!
Delicious food and great service.
This food is delicious. It is the best Thai food I have ever had. Pair with the Ardiel apple cider. Vegetarian options: Almost everything is vegetarian friendly because its possible to choose to get the food with tofu. The tofu is well cooked and thinly sliced.
Service was excellent. Food was really good too. I would definitely come back!
The beef in my noodle soup was incredibly chewy (My jaw and teeth began to hurt as i ate), as well as the soup itself being somewhat flavourless. The peanut chicken and coconut curry was good, and the coconut rice pudding for desert was good as well. We told our server about the chewy beef and they gave us free appetizers and deserts which helped make up for it. Overall, the food was mediocre, but the atmosphere was nice, and the workers seemed like they cared about their customers.
Fresh and amazing.. a must try
I found a lot of the meals lacked a lot of flavour, excluding the curry which was good. The beef was incredibly chewy and unseasoned, and the noodle soup was overpowering with lime. The spring rolls lacked filling and were also very bland. The pricing was good for the large portion sizes, however it didnt make up for the lack of flavours. However, when complaining about the poor quality of the beef, we were subbed both that meal and an additional appetizer which did improve the quality of service. I expected more, but it wasnt the worst ive had.
Excellent Thai food. Good portions and very flavourful.
Absolutely amazing!! Best Thai food I ve had in years. Service was incredible, so lovely and excellent recommendations. We will absolutely be back. Thank you!!
Very nice place to visit when you visit the blue mountain. Very authentic I must say!
3 of us came here for dinner. We were greeted very nicely and taken to our table on on the patio. The carafe of water came very quickly and we were surprised at how fast the food came. We had #28, #30 and #9.1. Pad Thonburi was their specialty pad Thai. It was tangy and the noodles were perfectly cooked! Would definitely order it again! GANG MASAMAN lived up to its description on the menu. We did not order meat with this. It was excellent. Way better than expected! The GANG GA REE had a nice coconutty taste to it along with a lot of TENDER chicken! I prefer the meal with more meat and less vegetables. I didnt ask but this is what I got. I asked for extra spice. This is one of the best meals Ive ever had!! Well mixed together. Pay cash and get an even better deal! Believe me, it is worth it to pay cash! Congratulations on a job well done! I cant see how they could have improved on anything. We cant wait till we are back in town again. Parking: Parking all around the building Wheelchair accessibility: There is a slight ramp up to the main door.
Excellent pad thai, friendly staff, very clean, reasonable prices. Will definitely go again.
How exactly is that place not taking a very high rating.. I have been to Thailand..and their food is really good..we enjoyed it..and I really mean it to the word.. We tried their coconut soup, spring rolls, noodles, stir fri, one of the Cari plates, their coconut rice pudding for dessert.. Let them know if you need it mild spicy or really spicy. Really we enjoyed our time and meal there. Hope you would consider opening in Mississauga one day..you would absolutely be a hit and top choice Dietary restrictions: We eat halal food only
WoW magnifique! Food was delicious. Ambiance was there too. Service 110%
Incredible food, incredible service, incredible live music. The night we were there, the Websters played, three guys, representing three generations. They were amazing!
Food was absolutely delicious. The restaurant is very well decorated. But they had some singer playing the guitar and he was far too loud and they only take cash which is a huge issue for me. Anyways.. How can a restaurant in the Blue Mountain area? Not take credit cards in this day and age. Thats unbelievable and unforgivable
Very good Thai food -- fresh, nicely presented, friendly staff and good prices. Noodle dishes were our favourite.
We are regulars at Thonburi and they are truly our favorite restaurant. The family and staff are truly the very best and the food is always first class!
Bad service
Amazing. Wish they did delivery.
Delicious Thai Cuisine and Great Service! I recently dined here and had a wonderful experience. The moment I walked in, I was greeted with a warm welcome and a vibrant, cozy atmosphere. The menu offered a wide variety of authentic Thai dishes, making it difficult to choose just one. I decided to try the Tom Yum Soup and Green Curry, and both were absolutely delicious. The flavors were perfectly balanced, and the ingredients were fresh and well-prepared. The portions were generous, and the presentation was impressive. The service was excellent, with attentive and friendly staff who were knowledgeable about the menu and happy to make recommendations. They ensured that my dining experience was enjoyable from start to finish.
Their curry is so exotic tasting whenever we come to Collingwood we always eat there. And if you can come in a Tuesday they have excellent live music. Love this place
This is the best Thai food I have ever had in Canada! And their chicken is halal!! Lots of beautiful plants and really nice patio. Very good service as well. Food
We went there for dinner today. In addition to the high price, the portions were also very small and the food was not delicious and tasted weird. I ordered a beef noodle soup, but the meat was tough and there wasnt much noodles in the soup. There were a lot of carrots, which were very cheap, and a few bean sprouts. I only ate noodles and carrots but didnt drink the soup because it tasted weird. My husband said his meat was tough too. We only ordered two bowls of noodles but paid a lot of money, and besides, I left the restaurant hungry!! We won t be back and wont recommend this place to anyone either !! Yesterday we went to dinner at Pho Simcoe 2, we ordered 3 dishes and the food was very tasty and we only paid a few dollars more than Thonburi Thai Food. We will be back at Pho Simcoe 2 for sure and I definitely recommend this place.
Lovely location, conveniently located across from the Living Water resort. The food was excellent and the service was perfect too. Absolutely loved their beaver tail thai style.
I ordered for takeout today and to be honest when I receive the food, a little disappointed cause it looks really so so. But when I tried the first bite omg it s so delicious. All off the meal I ordered is excellent. You should try it all - tom yum soup - papaya salad - beef curry - thonburi pad thai
Excellent. Thonburi pas Thai is highly recommended.
This place is A1 in my book! Service, price and foods dynamite!!! Were going back Food : 5/5
Great restaurant with lovely decor. The food was excellent and brought out very quickly. Service was amazing and staff very friendly.
amazing food, authentic and delicious, great ice tea too!
My wife and I ordered in from this restaurant today. We know good Thai food when we eat it. This was excellent. It is clearly five star.
My boyfriend and I ate at Thornburi Thai for the 1st time 2 weeks ago and have been talking about them ever since. We are no strangers to Thai food and have dined at a number of different thai restaurants throughout the GTA. This restaurant is by far the BEST THAI FOOD that we have ever had. You think you love mango salad? This one is in a league of its own! Its Friday night and guess where were headed for dinner?:-):-):-) If you are looking for authenticity, this is your restaurant. If youre looking for a relaxing atmosphere, this is the place. If you are looking for kind people and smiling faces, you have to visit Thornburi Thai. Happy dining!
I got the green curry (26). Was AMAZING. Can t wait to try the others next time I visit.
Excellent Thai food in a small, cozy restaurant. Chicken Pad Thai was delicious but shy on the sauce. Our 2 curry dishes were excellent. #30 I would enjoy with the blended white and red rice. Service was good and there ample parking. They restaurant was just building their outdoor patio.
Absolutely delicious! The best Thai food weve ever had (and we have a lot of Thai food). The vegetables were fresh, the sauces were perfectly seasoned and flavourful. They were able to accommodate gluten free and vegan dietary restrictions. Note that they take cash as well as debit and e-transfer! Dietary restrictions: Lota of gluten free, dairy free options!
Best Thai food we have ever had! The coconut curry is out of this world!!! Food
Left much to be desired unfortunately. The curry flavor was decent but the meat was tough and vegetables (just red bell pepper) seemed merely heated up and not cooked at all. We order Thai takeout a lot and were quite disappointed in this
My family and I had a meal here, and it was one the best Thai we ve had. And I have a lot of Thai food in general. Thank you so much for the delicious food and warm service!
Pad Thai was a little too sweet for my liking. But the mango salad was delicious.
Fresh and delicious Thai food in a bright clean space with lots of light and high ceilings. Great service too
Been to Thailand, have sampled Thai food at many different places and I ve gotta say . This was absolutely delish!!!!!! We had their special tangy pad thai, a red curry and an appetizer with crispy triangles to dip into a heavenly sauce with ground chicken. The flavours were out of this world and we ll be back many times. Thank you all so much for being so sweet to us and for this being such an awesome experience!!! We are so lucky you ve decided to do this in Collingwood!!!
Delicious food with very quick service. Will be going every time I visit the blue mountains
Food was good. Service was ok. Wished the Masaman curry was less sweet and more spiced. The salad are delicious and well balanced.Overall good choice for Thai in Collingwood
Food was ok, but not authentic. Many dishes had cabbage in them, when they typically do not. The Tom Yum soup had several ingredients substituted and it was very sweet tasting...too sweet. The worst part though is that they dont accept non Canadian debit cards and no credit cards! Its 2024! its unreasonable for a restaurant in a tourist destination to not accept Visa or Amex from outside Canada. I had to leave my family at the table while I found an ATM to get cash, then return and pay. Do better, Thonbury Thai!
To quote Nike.... Just Do It! Vegetarian options: Almost the full menu can be adjusted Food : 5/5 |
Just ordered the chicken pad thonburi. It was so good! It actually looked plain when I first looked at it, but after tasting it... wow so yummy. Perfect balance of sweet and savory.. definitely will be back again.
One order to small. No food for young kids, all spicy and and to much mix vegetables in rice
Amazing food! Service was outstanding! The place was full great atmosphere
Really delicious, flavourful Thai food. Probably some of the best Ive ever had. Staff are super friendly. I didnt give full 5 stars only because the seating is a bit awkward (squished) and they will sometimes have 2 people sitting at a table for 6 when other smaller tables are available, so when a family of 4 arrives, they are turned away. Also, despite having reservations, being there before the other reservations and supporting both their Collingwood and Wasaga locations, it seems there are preferred customers who get better tables, even if thier party is smaller.
Nice decor, but food is SERIOUSLY lacking. The pad thai was nothing close to authentic, so I guess it is just their interepretation of the dish...Noodle was the wrong type, colour was wrong, beef was way over-cooked, and overall was way too wet. Flavour was OK, but not in line with what genuine pad thai should taste and look like. Also ordered a curry, which was passable, but certainly not worth $20. Majorly over-priced for the quality and quantity. Only reason to eat here is if you just happen to be charging your Tesla outside and even still, Im not sure I would come back here.
Simply delicious. Very clean and great food. Food
Recently dined at this new local Collingwood Thai Food restaurant, and it exceeded all expectations. The service was impeccable, and the food was nothing short of amazing. Each dish showcased authentic flavors, leaving a lasting impression. A must-try for any Thai cuisine enthusiast!
Exceptionally good Thai food - ingredients are fresh, portions are generous and protein is tender and well-trimmed. Menu has helpful descriptions of flavour profiles and level of spiciness for the novice, and the service is always warm and friendly. Once had a question about an allergen and the chef came out immediately to confirm which dishes it was in and which it wasnt. We always order extra for leftovers!
Great to have a solid Thai spot in Collingwood! Service was friendly and quick. Flavorful curry and mango salad. Would have liked a bit more spice, food was a lot more mild compared to the rating system on their menu suggested. But otherwise great for Collingwood =)
Thonburi Thai Food in Collingwood delivers exceptional Thai cuisine with authentic flavors. Each dish is a flavorful masterpiece, reflecting freshness and skill. A standout highlight was the attentive service from Kim, who ensured a memorable dining experience with her knowledge and warmth. Highly recommended for both food quality and outstanding service.
My recent lunch experience at Thornburi Thai Food in Collingwood was nothing short of delightful. The restaurant boasts generous portion sizes, ensuring you get great value for your money. We savored dishes like PAD PRIK GANG KEAW WAAN and GANG KEAW WAAN, both of which were impeccably flavorful and well-prepared. Kim stood out as an exceptionally helpful staff member, enhancing our dining experience with attentive service. A notable feature is the halal chicken option, making it a standout choice in an area where such offerings are limited. Overall, Thornburi Thai Food offers a harmonious blend of quality, taste, and service, making it a must-visit for Thai cuisine enthusiasts in Collingwood.
Good place wonderful the girls on the counter are helpful. I had a good moment with her a while ago.
A really good Thai place for someone wanting to try out the cuisine for the first time!! Very delicious and nice ambience too!
Not sure what region of Thailand this food is from but it s not like the mainstream places like PAI in Toronto. Heavy on carbs, almost no meat at all (approximately 100g including when paying $6 for the shrimp option - 6 small shrimp really isn t worth that much). Taste was different to say the least. Ingredients used were sub-par at best. Do not recommend takeout as the food becomes quite soggy and sticks together due to being too carb heavy.
Despite having bad feedbacks on yelp regarding taste, portion and price, I decided to still give it a try. Unfortunately, the reviews on yelp are right. Food taste is mediocre at best. Portion is subjective but relative to the price. For $20/dish, the portion is very small!! Barely enough for 1 person. Also the rice is packed in a very tiny container like are you serious? Youre being stingy with rice?? Anyways, if the dishes were about $15, then I guess its okay... would I come back? Absolutely not even if the price is lower or portions bigger. Food taste is important to me and this does not cut it.
Run dont walk to this awesome gem for authentic Thai food. Delicious red curry with an exquisite coconut base. Spring rolls perfect and ample for one order. Beautiful mango salad. We will be back! Food
Way too high of a price tag for average quality Thai food and very uncomfortable wooden chairs. The beef in my meal was very poor quality and no taste at all and I returned it. I mentioned it and the staff apologized. They forgot the tea I ordered. The mango in the salad was hard and unripe. Although I was not happy with the food and the service the staff did not try to make it up to me and May be reduce my bill or anything. I won t be back and I won t refer this place.
I was eagerly anticipating the opening and as I often walk by the location I witnessed the often slow progress. I am delighted to say that it was absolutely worth the wait. Delicious and authentic Thai cuisine at its finest. If you re a fan of Thai food then you should definitely try Thonburi Thai Food Company, you will love it like I do.
I went here with my partner, and we both loved this restaurant. The comfy and clean atmosphere of the restaurant and very friendly owner and staff made this place feel very inviting. The food was extremely tasty; we will definitely be going back soon to try more of their menu.
My favorite place in the area, and easily the best Thai food Ive had outside of Thailand! The owners and staff always go the extra mile to deliver top quality food and service. After many years, this new location and menu are better than ever. Vegetarian options: Lots of vegan options - many dishes can be made vegan by choosing tofu or veg as the source of protein. Just ask, the staff are very helpful!
Amazing as always!! So grateful for this fantastic local Thai restaurant. Staff is exceptional as is the food! Not to mention the portions and prices are phenomenal!!
Popped in for takeout today at new Collingwood location. Have been eating here since the mountain location. I always crave their food and it never disappoints! So much flavour. Restaurant design looked clean and cute! Will have to go back to dine in. My favourite dishes are #3 mango salad to start. 9.1 Beef pad Thai. 26 & 29 with chicken are both incredible. I bet everything on the menu is delicious but I always stick to my faves. 5 stars
