Christmas staff party .don t go there Worst experience ever. Only allowed 4 drinks and our party had to leave. I didn t even have a drink only water. They cut us off and sent us home Everyone had a ride home. I do not recommend going there for your Christmas celebration or for any fun times.

The food was really good, great ambience, friendly staff! The miso salmon burger was amazing! I would totally come bake when in town! Parking: Great location!

Food was good , the menus smelled like a stinky cloth, and were sticky., the whole corner we were in , just to the left of the entrance smelled like a old stinky cloth , two other couples came in, sat down , smelled the menus and then got up and left . Come on , change your cloths every time you wipe a table.

Food was extremely mediocre for the high prices, our food took about an hour to get to us and it was just plain disappointing. Waitress offered us free drinks on the house, but at the end still put our iced tea on the bill. Do yourself a favour and give this place a miss.

Great place! I just moved to the area and this is my favorite place to go for a nice craft beer, flavorful food and vibrant atmosphere. It is quieter outside but more lively inside. You can choose your table accordingly!

Service here is a complete joke! Ive ordered take out numerous times and this time they say dont do take out and they never have which is a complete lie.

Was in town and stopped in for supper. I ordered the double bacon burger and my wife ordered the chicken stripes. We saw the kitchen staff seasoning the fries we asked what they were using, as my wife has allergies to capsaicin. We were told it was just seasoning salt. We got our food and I received a single burger with double bacon, ok understand this could be confusing and I was hungry. The fries had an excessive amount of salt, but we ate them anyways. After a few minutes my wife stopped eating and mentioned she wasnt feeling well. I finished my burger and she was having trouble with her throat. We asked the server what brand of seasoning salt was used and the kitchen said they had a house blend with chilly powder. The server was surprised at this and let us know. We asked for the bill, paid and left to find antihistamines. Being from a food service family I understand how difficult customer requests can be, but all staff have to understand that if you make an item in house you have to be aware of the ingredients. Oh we noticed, after the chicken was finished that there was a bag of frozen chicken on the counter next to the fryers.

I came in for dinner with my family and ordered an assortment of share plates and mains. The pretzel was the only amazing item, it on its own bumps this up to a 3 star. Our server was great but the rest of the meal was not what we expected. The nachos were good but the chips came out soggy, the charcuterie board and poke bowl were alright but was not close to the best we ve had especially for the price. The waitlist doesn t seem like they empty it, it had 7 parties ahead of us when we looked, 1 minute later we walked into the restaurant to join the list and they said, oh we have tons of space come with us. My tip is if they have a wait just go in and talk to the host, they re system probably isn t updated. The major issue was the Cod Ceviche. It was complete false advertising, it is not a ceviche, it s more like pickled cod, you also only get about 10 chips. It is not at all what I expected and should be called something other than ceviche. I bet other menu items are great but I don t recommend the ceviche, not a single person in my party liked it.

The Korean chicken sandwich was solid. The heated and covered patio was appreciated on a cool rainy evening.

Stopped here for a quick beer and shared Mount Nachington which was so so good! Great chips, layered well and very cheesy. Beer was fab too! Thanks for a great experience

Nice location great selection of beers

Very vegetarian/Vegan and gluten free. Usually its difficult to find a good restaurant for my family members who tick those boxes! Tried the poutine with veggie gravy, a very large and delicious portion. Would recommend! Vegetarian options: Vegetarian/Vegan Dietary restrictions: Tons of gluten free!

Place was nice and tidy. Service was fast and on point despite being busy. I had the filburger, it was delicious and all the ingredients were fresh. Will go back for sure.

Really nice spot, approachable cocktails, the hostess was a little crusty but besides that, this place is a must try. Get the pork belly, ask for extra slaw and my specific bartender knew her stuff. Would totally recommend especially on a nice day.

Amazing service and friendly staff at the Church St. Taphouse. Never disappoints whether out with a group of friends or a quieter night out. The menu offers lots of options and enjoy trying something different every time. Thursday night s live music is definitely worth checking out!

One of my favourite taphouses in Comox. The artwork on the walls is great and the beer selection has a good variety for every preference. Always have had great service and never disappointed with the food.

So we have been here 4 times now and everytime it has been unbearably slow. On our last visit it was very busy and only a single waitress was working the tables that we could see and dealing with a new system on top of everything. Meanwhile they had 3 hosts at the front of house basically sitting there only helping to get food out once it was ready. As a result it took an hour just to get our food order in. The food is great but by the time we recieved it we had to to go and just left with it instead on sitting around even longer to eat it as we had been there two hours at that point. I do not put any of this on our waitress as she was wondurful and we could she was working as fast as she could We gave it multiple tries but we will not be back again.

I now know why this place is always busy. Try the charcuterie board service was great!

Not only were the drinks and food options wonderful, but our son lost his 2nd tooth while we were there. Our server said there might be a tooth fairy surprise, and came back and gave him a 5 dollar bill. How incredibly sweet and totally made my sons day. Thank you!

Extremely unimpressed with front end service and attitude, was turned away for having my little brother (who for the record is in my full custody, and before 8pm), this is the 2nd time Ive had a bad experience with staff. Wont be returning for a 3rd attempt. Kid-friendliness: Was turned away for having my little brother with me, but they claim to be kid friendly..doesnt seem like it to me

Service was fine but very slow. Even with the slow service it was too late to add a request for the dressing on the side of the med salad. The greens were so oily they were basically inedible. The quinoa blend was weirdly very sweet and off putting. The only saving grace was a generous portion of chicken.

Typical pub fare for food, not great but not terrible, although the wings I would avoid. Great selection of beers and a great atmosphere.

We really like coming here when we visit from Vancouver. Food is good and service has been great each time. However was there recently and there were kids running around everywhere. I have kids but when we re away for the weekend and just want adult time, it s a bit frustrating. I wish there was more of a family section vs adult section.

Great atmosphere, tasty food and drinks!

Last Sunday, January 31, I took some friends for brunch at the Church St. Taphouse. All COVID-19 protocols were observed. We were shown to our recently disinfected table. My friends and I ordered drinks which our server brought quickly. The food arrived soon after. It was hot and delicious. I had Eggs Diablo, which I d recommend. We enjoyed the service, atmosphere, drinks and food. I will be going there again.

I keep coming back so they must be doing something right . Suppose it could be the great beer selection with pretty good food too! Food

We had a lovely lunch at the Taphouse celebrating a 60th wedding anniversary. The Taphouse is located where the little church they got married in once stood. Wonderful staff and delicious food and would definitely go back again.

Went in for lunch during work. Service was great and friendly, and the food was great. Had cod bites, which hit the spot. Coffee was good, and service was awesome while eating. Next time I will get photos. Parking: Not a big deal , but could be frustrating if busy ??

Absolutely fabulous! We loved the atmosphere here and the service was excellent. The portions are large and the food is very good. Plus there are lots of gluten and dairy free options. You won t be disappointed.

My daughter ordered a Caesar salad it was very soggy and tasteless. The bowl was half full of tasteless hard croutons. Found it really overpriced $23 for something she hardly ate. Was really disappointed. We did order a couple appetizers and did really enjoy them though.

4 Beer 2 wine $91.00 plus tip. Mount Nauchington Nachos, inconsistency- slathered in toppings with minimal chips for $23, neighbouring table couldnt believe it was the same dish, they had so many chips. They brought more after requested. Bun with pulled pork sandwich was so dry/stale it was inedible. Fairly regular customer, more miss then hit in the food department.

I visited this establishment while visiting Comox from Ottawa. The service was poor and although I have no direct evidence, I suspect the staff are profiling patrons (in a negative manner). I visited the restaurant on my first night in Comox at about 08:00 p.m. on Thursday 21 December 2023. I told the hostess at the door I was in for dinner and drinks. Although, there were at least three free tables clearly visible from the entrance where I was standing, I was told there was a 20 minute wait. Additionally, there were free tables on the heated patio. As I had been travelling across country all day and was looking forward to a relaxing meal, I enquired if it was possible to be seated at one of the free tables. The hostess re-iterated that there was a wait, even though there were no lines or crowds waiting to enter the restaurant. The waitress then suggested seating at the bar, then immediately doubled back stating it was very crowded. I pointed out to the wait staff that there was no-one behind me and that I was very hungry and tired after travelling all day. The staff then offered to let me sit upstairs at the ledge or edge or something to that effect. I was taken upstairs to a very small loft and seated at a rickety stool along a the railing of a half wall overlooking the restaurant. There was a piece of rough 6 inch board attached to the wall where I guess I was supposed to rest a drink and/or plate for dinner. I waited approximately 10 minutes for a server to come and ask for my drink choice. Having waited 10 minutes on a stool without a backrest and resting my elbows on a piece of lumber for service, I was a bit irritated. As the free tables were still free (now approximately 15 minutes into my visit) I asked if I could be seated at a table. The server simply stated they were unavailable. She then suggested I sit at the bar before, stating it was quite full, implying I should stay seated at the wooden ledge. I said I would take my chances at the bar and she agreed to move my menus down to the table for me, however, seeing that there were no visible empty chairs at the bar, I was not interested in fighting for a place. I waited for the server to come down (as she was busy talking to her friend). I asked her if I could instead set at a seat on the patio. She simply stated those seats are for other people then quickly corrected herself and stating they might have a large party coming in. It was clear they did not want to seat me at a table. By this point I had been at the restaurant approximately 20 minutes and each of the tables empty when I had entered remained empty. As I was talking with the server two women walked in without reservations and were immediately seated at one of the two tables. I left and walked to the Blackfin Pub down the street where I was seated immediately, had a beer within 2 minutes and where they kept the kitchen open for a few extra minutes so I could order dinner. While it is normal for restaurants to attempt to seat people judiciously in order to accommodate multiple parties, it was late in the evening (for Comox) and I made my intentions clear to spend money. Additionally, as a single man, I would have taken a relatively short amount of time to finish my meal and would not have loitered. My work has taken me across the globe and I have had the opportunity to dine in many pubs and restaurants but I have never been treated as poorly as I was at the Church St. Tapehouse. I can only assume based on my experience that the wait staff and management of the Church St. Taphouse are using an arbitrary criteria to judge how much each customer may spend or if they fit the right patron profile they want for their establishment.

Greek chicken burger and I chicken corn soup was delicious!

Very cold out, so I was just looking for a warm bowl of soup. Waitress helped me out. Filling and tasty. My wife said the yam fries were very good and too much for 1 person. Food

The atmosphere is great but service was slow. It took 20 minutes to just get a glass of water. I dont like the menu much. Its very limited .

First place i think of when my friends suggest going out. Everything is amazing. That includes service, food, drinks, and prices. I LOVE this place so so much. Id be here every week if I made more money than i did. Last time I was here I was with a large group and our server was lovely!! Wish I remembered her name. She was a LEGEND.

Food was just ok. My sister had a Caesar salad with chicken. The Chicken was very dry and tasted like it was precooked and reheated in the Microwave. When we mentioned the issue with the chicken they offered to remake it but were no longer hungry and were told they would take the chicken off but only took half the cost of the chicken add on.

Great staff, chill atmosphere we would ve stayed longer but prices were a bit strange.. add on protein to nachos, salads or bowls were all 8-12$ mind you I don t know the serving portions. We just had yam fries and it was huge great indications on their menu for allergies. Might come back another time knowing what we know now. No televisions for sports.

We have always enjoyed Church St. Service is always great. The Korean bites - yum. Today, my daughter and I stopped by for lunch. Again, great service. The meals were a bit disappointing. My daughter ordered the chicken, bacon, and cheese burger. After ordering, she was told that they were out of the prepared roasted chicken, but she could wait 25 minutes to prepare the chicken or have the substitute of chicken strips. She went with the strips but when her meal arrived they forgot the bacon and cheese. Its not a big deal. The waitress was on top of it. I ordered an Island bowl which was disappointing. It sounded great but was very boring. I took maybe 3 bites and couldnt finish it. Just the combination of ingredients didnt compliment each other. Dressing was flat. The waitress even asked and I said it was because I was full. My daughter didnt want me to say anything. So I didnt but I think saying something lets the establishment know and they can make changes or monitor the salad with other customers. Will we be back. Definitely. But just a bad experience.

Good place to stop in for a beer

I ve been here many times with great experiences. Unfortunately today was not. We were promptly seated and order taken, drinks were delivered but then we were ghosted for the next hour. No sign of food or explanation of why it was taking so long. No server noticing that our drinks were empty and never an offer of more drinks. After almost an hour our food did arrive and it was good. Our server Sheryl was completely uninterested in asking us if we needed or wanted anything else. Very disappointed!

Have been a few times with friends and family. Each time just got worse. Messed up food orders, waiting for the correction so long everyone else was completely done. Last time all three orders were wrong one way or another. Never got asked if a second drink was needed. Waiting over 20 mins after asking for my bill. Menu is weird, drinks limited and everything was meh. Open box restaurant that has nothing to absorb the noise so impossible to hear the person beside you. Like eating in a garage it was freezing. I absolutely will not going back again.

I love the faux grass on the back patio. It makes for a really comfortable and casual backyard feel. The food here is always great and decently priced. It can get pretty loud inside but the patio experience is something special anyhow.

Nice atmosphere. Would have liked a little more variety on the menu but the food we ordered was tasty. Had a very long wait (40 minutes) to get a table for lunch for our party of 6 even though we could see there were tables available. Apparently a bit of a staff shortage which seems to be an issue everywhere these days.

Found this place by chsnce while cycling around Comox area. Pleasantly surprised by this un-assuming caual atmosphere Taphouse. Had a couple of lunch specials and a nice Lager from Phillips Brewery and a Czech Pilsner from Bomber Brewing. Our Server was great. The perfect amount of attention and fast service. Highly recommend this little Gem when in Comox

The food was okay, drinks were okay and service was average. Shared table style seating and very noisy environment. Quite expensive for what it is.

Beyond amazing customer service. The location and the drinks are amazing, anyone will enjoy their time here. But what really stood out to me was the next level customer service. Our waiter was extremely patient, answered all of our questions, and spent her own time to make sure that we were getting home okay and safely. The commitment that the staff have to the success of this place is truly remarkable.

Had a good experience my first time but after returning I am constantly disappointed. The food always comes out cold and the prices are raised for no reason. A 6$ pretzel is expensive enough, which they just raised to 8$. Nothing has gone up in price for the pretzels ingredients. This place is extremely successful and they just need to raise the price of cheap bread to make even more. Feels less like a local experience.

Brought family visiting from UK. Waited an hour for our food and watched people who came in well after us get theres. Asked the server and she apologized saying kitchen was backed up. Finally got our meal which was cold and had to be sent back. Very poor food service. Server was awesome as was the beer. Second visit after a bad first and asked to give it a second chance. Wont be back and wont be taking visitors in the future.

One of my favourite places to dine in the CV. Lots of options for Gluten free and dairy free needs - they even have a dedicated fryer to keep items free from gluten contamination for all the celiacs out there (you can safely enjoy your fries, poutine, etc). My favourite dish is the Tuna Poke Bowl with pineapple. I also love that they have Glutenberg available so I can enjoy a gluten free beer with my meal. Its funny how, as a local, I dont review the places I frequent. Church St. is one of my absolute favorites. The staff are friendly and over time, become like family. The atmosphere is open, inviting and comfortable. They have a great assortment of beers on tap and a full bar serving some amazing cocktails. Great menu.. try the poke bowl with pineapple!! Or.. the smoked brisket poutine. Hang with the locals... make some friends.. go to Church!

Was an amazing place with lots of beer options and good food. Now the food is still good but the taps I cant comment on because they are the only beer merchant that doesnt offer samples of the drinks they have on tap. The only one on the whole north island. And nobody wants to order something that may taste off to their taste buds. So I stick to the few I know and dont get to try much here. Big shame. Could be a great place but generally I go to the breweries in town instead. If they change this I could see the rating being better.

Every time Im in Comox I make a point to stop at Church St pub because its AMAZING. We come all the time from Campbell River. They need a location up there!!

I ll try to be fair here other than a few small things church street tap house is a great place to go for a beer. They didn t have the kind of selection I was looking for but the beer I got was okay. I got nachos which I didnt find very good, they got soggy really quick and had full jalapeño slices on them which was the only spicy part. My dad had calamari wish he also rated very low.

This place is great for drinks and live music!

Atmosphere is great, the tuna was pretty tasty and I enjoyed the near beer I had. Service could be better although granted it is a busy spot!

I stopped by after a walk around downtown Comox. The open air vibe (September), was really nice on this warm day. The food looked and smelled great, granted I just had a few beers and no food. They have good background music and a friendly attentive staff. There is outdoor and indoor seating, but no views of the bay. I recommend a stop here.

Had a good selection of beer but food was bland (under seasoned and greasy) and service was super slow (I had to ask multiple times to get a glass of water and never got a refill)

5 Stars to the incredibly hard working gang at Church St. Taphouse! We are consistently impressed with the food, drinks and atmosphere every time were there. There is truly nothing in the valley quite like it and our 1st choice for treating our team to a night out! We booked the outdoor/backyard area for a 30 person event (an unconventional wedding reception) and it could not have gone better. Dealing with a group of our size must have been a logistical nightmare, but the staff at Church Street made it look like an absolute breeze. We have always loved the taphouse as a casual spot to go with a couple of friends, but I can now also confidently say there is no better place for a medium sized event. Thank you SO much to everyone involved! If anyone is considering booking something here, go for it! This is hands down the best spot in the Comox Valley.

Never even made it to a drink order. Nobody came by to give service after being seated. We waited 20+ minutes. Other tables were in the same boat. Probably not coming back.

I ordered the brisket quesadilla and it was vile. I only had a short window to order and felt this would be the fastest thing to eat and get to my appointment. It tasted like someone opened a can of acidic tomato paste, smeared it around with some left over roast beef sliced paper thin and then through it into an oven where is was dried out so hard I couldn t even give my kid to munch on as it was rock hard. Do better! The only reason I didn t send it back was because I was so short on time. If I took this to the people who made it, I bet the cook wouldn t want to eat it, that s how bad it was! The server didn t ask how it was so I couldn t even tell her unless I got up and went and found her. All I can say is how can someone put food like that out and not be completely embarrassed? I won t be going back there again.

We expected more based on family recommendations. Brisket quesadilla was a total disappointment for $20. No side dish, tablespoon of salsa, micro mini slices of beef. Seriously?? My wifes salad was swimming in dressing, and was denied sauerkraut for her Bavarian sausage???? Come on CST you can way better

Church street has come a long way since the beginning, its been great to see you guys grow into a comox staple ,it is definetly the best place in comox to stop for a a bite to eat and a couple of pints, its a real deal pub that always working on improving, a real modern day cheers type of place!!...keep it up!

Probably the best all round dining and taproom experience in the Comox Valley. Fantastic rotating beer tap selection, and the food menu is wide (not too big, mind) with a good variation of fusion cuisine. Live music on some evenings, and a great atmosphere usually, with attentive friendly staff.

My server cayden (sorry if I spelt your name wrong) was 12/10 I asked him for a beer recommendation and he nailed it ! #9 btw ;) not only was he super sweet and welcoming but he had speedy service and made sure our drinks were full and checking on us. Really made my night . Will be back for sure.

Food was excellent, location was nice, deck has good view of the water and skyline of the town. 18 or so beers on tap, good selection of liquors.

I really like Church St Taphouse, and definitely recommend it over any other pubs in the area. I have visited on a number of occasions and always find the food and beer (particularly the selection and freshness) is great. Like a few of the breweries in the valley, they have a selection of local wines as well to help people who arent necessarily beer-lovers feel welcome. Updated in October 2022: Church St has done a great job of creating a better waitlist process so my previous comments about how long it used to take to wait to get seated or added to waitlist arent as relevant anymore. Theyve become the Comox institution and while not every time is amazing its always good. I was told by a server recently that they changed their policy and stopped doing taster samples of beers but then someone I was with the next time got a sample. I suppose that policy was very short lived - LOL! Its not like its a lot of beer its just to help people pick the right one, particularly when theres a lot of different options. Considering how much people are spending a small taster of beer is really not a big deal Cheers, A.J.

Always attentive, good sharing foods and nice selection of near-beer and GF beer to compliment a huge choice of beers.

Had lunch here the other day. We enjoyed the poutine with pulled pork, the torpedo prawns, and the generous mac n cheese. Excellent pub fare, with great service. And I have to mention their enclosed outdoor space. Many other local pubs like the Blackfin seem to use any excuse to shutdown their patio, but Church St. Taphouse seems committed to leaving theirs open...very much appreciated by those who are in any way immune compromised.

Went out for the Halloween silent disco with DylPrickle, and we had the most fun! Staff was amazing, especially Deepak. Wasnt over crowded, service was fast, everyone was in a great mood! Me and my friends would love to see more silent discos.

Deepak (our bartender) was awesome! He had my drink ready before the last was empty. Food and drink suggestions were on point (both the poke bowl w/pineapple and Blueberry Sour were fantastic)! Very grateful, and loved the atmosphere! Great bartender!

I went to church street late last night and had a filburger with a poutine. The gravy was next level! The burger was also onpoint. The sober charpenter blonde beer i had was by far the best non-alcholic beer ive ever had. Service was on point. Highly recomend this place!
