Waiting time long! No Customer service ! Food not cooked well! No welcoming atmosphere ! I regret choosing this among other restaurants!

Just wanted to update that the food and service here is still so good. If you dont have time to dine in, their take out menu is very affordable. Wonderfully tasty food - pork and chicken souvlaki is sooooo good. We love their Monday special. The tzatziki is kind of heavy in garlic but some like it that way. No wonder they are able to survive this pandemic.

Weve been craving a good , authentic greek dinner for a while now. After spending the week up north, we decided to have lunch at Astoria on our way back to the city. The food was absolutely delicious and our server was so pleasant. Id definitely recommend the fried calamari and chicken dinner Food

great place for Mediterranean food

I visited this restaurant for the first time last week (June 21st) to celebrate my mothers birthday. My family and I were extremely disappointed with our experience. First off, the grilled calamari appetizer was very lackluster. The grilled calamari was basically a flavorless piece of matter. Next, my dad ordered the mousaka which the server assured him would be a substantial portion (upon inquiry about this dish). The mousaka was served to the table and my dad was shocked to see a child-size portion presented to him. Additionally, I had the large chicken dinner which was not very large at all. For nearly $31 plus tax, the portion was actually dismal. Not to mention, for Greek/Mediterranean cuisine, I was expecting chicken and rice to be much more flavorful. The pork pita and lamb pita were comparable to fast-food style lunch sandwiches at triple the price. Finally, to our dismay, the restaurant manager never took the time to visit our table and speak to my father to address his dissatisfaction with the mousaka dish (that was returned to the kitchen), nor offer any alternatives whatsoever. It is evident that customer satisfaction is not a priority to the manager.

Every time we come to this location, there is a problem. Portion sizes getting smaller and smaller each time. Service is subpar, food getting worse as the years go on. It s so sad to see this location give the Astoria name such a bad rap.

This location is absolutely terrible. The staff is rude, the food is both mediocre and smaller portions, and the service is absolutely deplorable. Everything here, compared to the Danforth location, is worse. Management has no idea what they are doing, and its just gotten worse and worse over the years First of all, your serving sizes are smaller. You give less food than the Danforth location. Im tired of ordering a $10 tzatziki order and getting $2 worth. So I like to order a large to go so I can eat it and take the rest home. They actually had the audacity to say no to me here at this location. Even something as trivial as a salad, you totally cheap out on the serving. You think youre getting ahead in life by doing this to people, but all your doing is alienating the long term clients like myself and my family that have been so loyal to Astoria for 40 years. None of my friends and family want to come to this location anymore because of this. Huge wake up call, its 2024, its hard to get people to spend their hard earned money in this economy and you have the balls to say no to a customer that wants to pay $10 for tzatziki? Good for you! Ill drive my butt to Danforth for my weekly $120 dinner.

Terrible - such a rip off. $30 for a little salad with with a tiny piece of chicken on top. Stay away. Honestly, save your money.

Ordered spanakoipita and they were still doughy on the inside so we told the server about it. He said they were cooked earlier and reheated when served to us they will make another order which will take 20 mins which was fine. Came back later said they are all out. Then we got out souvlaki. It was dry and overcooked or chewy, didnt know you can make lamb chewy. The server did not make it welcoming, hell he didnt even look or sound like he wanted to be there. Definitely night and day diff from the Danforth location

I order uber eats pickup from here once a week. We get souvlaki meals and spanakopita every time. Ive been impressed with the portion size and flavor every time, but last night was exceptional!

We were so excited to try this place for the first time. We love authentic Greek food. We did take out We ordered 4 meals. Fried Calamari with fries and potatoes Grilled Calamari with rice and potatoes Chicken Soivlaki with rice and veggies Lamb souvlaki with double veggies Sides of Greek Salad The only thing any of us liked was the salad. Chicken was dry and over cooked Lamb was hardly cooked at all and raw. I had to cook at home Fried calamari were obviously not homemade. Rubbery. And had the same taste as frozen premade Grilled calamari was hard as a rock and rubber. Potatoes were so stale and had turned black Fries were obviously cooked hours earlier Rice was bland with no flavour Veggies were the frozen type they clearly microwaved The salads however had a LOT of feta and was really good! The tzatziki was thick and delicious. Total bill for take out was over $150 I could have bought frozen stuff and made a much better meal at home for $30. Portions were tiny and the food was insanely over priced. I don t know who is giving this place amazing reviews but I bet they ve never had good Greek food before. We hardly ate the food and threw most of it out. My advice to the establishment: stop serving premade frozen food and trying to pass it off as authentic. At these prices I expect a much higher quality food not low end mall grade takeout. Have some pride in what you serve and don t try to be smart and rip off customers. Will I be back? NO Do I recommend? NO I should have gone to Santorini. That place has the best Greek food.

I always enjoy my trips to Astoria. The Danforth one is the best. The Maple Astoria restaurant started real good and lots of people but lately not as many. I do hope they can keep there doors open but there is lots of competition. Prices have increased a fair bit, Food is more expensive, I get that. Suggest maybe offer smaller sizes to lower the cost and improve the calamari. We had to send ours back to the kitchen. It appears that they are not as fresh as I remember them.

Liars Liars and are convinced they are right. They sent the wrong order and when told about it gave them the order number they said skip the dishes picked it up from somewhere else. Have proof of Astoria Shish Kebob House location 3300 Rutherford. First time ordering from here and spend $124.00 on 2 dinners plus extras. Beware everyone.

The service was good, but brief due to just going in for takeout. The pork souvlaki and tzatziki were enjoyable, yet the rice and potatoes lacked some flavour and the salad was sparse in toppings. I knew it was somewhat expensive going in but after seeing what I got, it was definitely overpriced ($32 for a large pork souvlaki dinner - difference is that the large dinner is 12oz of meat and regular is 8oz). Overall, hesitant to return, especially for takeout.

Edit: The owner responded to my review asking me to email them to address my experience. Its been a week since I sent an email and still no response. Dont tell me to email you if youre not even going to respond. What a disappointment. Lowering my review to 1 star. Been coming here for years. The pork souvlaki is usually always on point, I ll give them credit for that, but we noticed the appetizers are super stingy and not very good anymore. I actually have pics from over a year ago compared to my most recent experience where it s evident they give way less now. They re even stingy with the bread while our bill is nearly $200 I don t know if it s new management or what but we ll def try another Astoria location next time.

I have been coming here since 2017. This was a favourite of mine for many years unfortunately the service is not as good as it used to be. The portion sizes are also considerably smaller than what they used to be. Saganaki and calamari has not been up to the standard it usually is the last three visits.

We love this restaurant. We have been here a dozen times and most recently had them cater a family event for us. Everyone raved about the food. Portions are substantial and reasonable fair prices. We will be back for sure.

Nice place for a family dinner. Large portions so regular dinner is perfect and I found asking for double salad and chicken healthiest option for those counting calories or carbs.

We dine at this restaurant often as a family. Yesterday we walked in a few minutes before closing m, we were welcomed and received a great service. Great Greek village salad with generous amount of feta and a bit too many olives. Tasty souvlaki dinner done just right and the fries were great. Everything tasted great. Good service, good food!

Tried Astoria for the first time. I loved the beef platter with rice and potatoes and Greek salad. Food was very tasty. I also ordered the lava cake but didnt like it. I expected molten chocolate to pour from inside the cake, but that wasnt the case. Little molten chocolate on the top

We have been going to Astoria on the Danforth since I was a child 40 plus years I knew the original owners and have fond memories I was excited when we got a location in Vaughan but tonight might be the experience that makes me stop going because it s not the first time it wasn t a great experience in take out Dinner for 3 $95.00 Lamb was over cooked and so fatty I couldn t eat it The salad containers were less than full and lettuce was wilted and not enough feta on salads And there was minimal size difference between the small and the large chicken dinner but a definite difference in the price Just feel like they have increased their prices but decreased their quality It s to bad because their reputation has always been so good and Vaughan was so excited to get one here

Not as good as their danforth location but the food here is still amazing. Probably the best spot for Greek food in Vaughan. Chicken is always super juicy and the rice and potatoes are always cooked perfectly. The large is a big portion of meat so maybe go with the small if you don t want to over indulge.

Saturday evening visit. Everything was delicious! The pork souvlaki is particularly tasty -- the outside with just enough char and a really unique seasoning that sets it apart from other places. Finally, you get a huge blob of awesome Tzatsiki sauce that is way better than other places.

The food was extremely tasty and the drinks were great. The prices were alright and affordable, however, the service at Astoria was top-notch, raising my review to 5-stars. Our waitress, Natalie, was committed to providing us amazing service and she was very friendly. If you get Natalie as your waitress consider it a gift!

Love Astoria. We always order take out for family dinners. The portions are really decent and food is always delicious. Called this afternoon to place an order for a family dinner and I was told they are no longer offering this meal deal for any other day than Mondays. ???? . Seems silly that they would take this offer away but I m sure they are looking to make an extra dollar as we all are. What I was most taken aback by was the rude and snarky young lady that answered the phone. She was full of attitude, her tone was as standoffish and she overall sounded like I was hassling he by inquiring on how best to place my order. I would highly suggest that management revaluate her position at the restaurant dealing with customers looking to spend their money there and being met with her unpleasant demeanour.

Tiny portions

Food is good, but portions are small. Especially their salads. Basically nothing on the plate. Pick it up management. Its only lettuce. Very expensive for the quantity they give you and the soda is always flat. Good tzatziki though.

5 Star Food...5 Star service! We had a special occasion dinner at Astoria and everything was amazing! From their Calamari ( both grilled and fried) to the Saganaki(flaming cheese) to the Greek sausages, the appetizers were terrific! Their chicken souvlaki was hot and juice and melted in your mouth. Dont forget to try their Baklava...you almost think you were in Greece. Special thanks to Taha (General Manager), Alexa (our awesome server) and the entire kitchen staff for making it a memorable evening! My new GO TO place for Greek/Mediterranean food! Our family of 4 arrived on a busy Sunday night without reservation and was seated in about 5 minutes. Mary took very good care of us and our food was great as always. Kids are for free to make it a most economical dinner out! Kid-friendliness: Kids eat free on Sundays!

Astoria is awesome! I love greek food and just coming back from Greece not long ago, Astoria has definitely become my go to for greek food. To start my husband and I had the fried calamari, I ordered the lamb and salad as that s my favourite protein and my hubby had the chicken souvlaki wrap. Everything was so fresh and so delicious! The tzatziki sauce is so good and I love that they provide good amounts. Definitely would recommend to anyone. They have a good variation of food and are quite accommodating if any changes need to be made. The tables are a great size and the seating is comfortable (I recently had surgery so this was important for me).

Some of the best Greek food in the 905, IMHO!

Almost $15 for a chicken souvlaki on a pita is grossly over priced. Secondly, unfortunately, it did not taste good. Chicken isn t great, tzatziki was also store bought or just not what I m use too. Was so disappointing as it s a staple to any Greek place and I ve tried countless places over the years. You can get a good one for at about $5 cheaper from other places. (At least around Scarborough & Toronto where I m from). Can t speak for the rest of menu.

Been many times but this time the food was lacking their usual garlic blast. The tzatziki was bland in comparison and the kitchen kebabs dry! I order salmon. 2 sizes, I ordered the small. It was the size of skinny 6 inch pencil for $18.49! Greek salad had little to no vegetables. No cucumbers, 2 1/8 tomatoes and a sprinkle chopped red onion. The dressing of all Oil. Definitely off their game tonight.

Visited on Saturday July 29 around 8 pm and were warmly greeted by Natalie. Although we had no reservation, we were seated within ten minutes. Lively atmosphere, clean space and roomy tables simply complemented the absolutely fabulous service Natalie provided. The food was freshly prepared - the pork souvlaki cooked to tender perfection, potatoes, rice and french fries were hot, plentiful and delicious. First time visitors but definitely not the last. If you are searching for a casual, relaxed atmosphere that boasts really good, home cooked dishes, this is the place to visit. Kudos!

We love this restaurant! The food is always delicious, and the service is always excellent. Mary and Natalie always give us wonderful service.

Really disappointed with the waitress. Went with my kids and Tried to order a kids meal that indicated the meal included an entree and your choice of 1 side. The sides were listed including a salad. My daughter wanted a hot dog with a salad. The waitress refused to let us order a salad even though the menu indicated it. When I asked her she said I don t know but I can t add a salad in my system and told us to choose another side or order a separate adult side salad and pay for it. Unfortunately this left a very sad and disappointed 8 year old. I am very frustrated with this experience given the menu clearly stated what is included in the kids meal and did not have a salad as an exclusion. We ve been to Astoria many times and ordered kids meals and have always had a positive experience so very disappointing.

Dined at Astoria today to celebrate some friends birthdays. I typically get takeout and the food is quite good from this location. I ordered the Greek salad with grilled calamari and a side of tzaziki. The salad was good, although the cheese and olives are far more generous with take out orders. The calamari was tasty but quite overcooked. The tzaziki was absolutely delicious. Wish pita bread was included given the price.

Disappointed by the food and service. Its overpriced for the quality of food. Server barely came despite the resteraunt not being busy, forgot the order. The food is less than mediocre. Left feeling unsatisfied and not worth the $45.

Wow, just wow. Absolutely amazing Greek food here, you gotta check it out! We got saganaki and the souvlaki dinners (pork and lamb). Every dish was a hit and so so tasty. It my first time here. No host to greet us. I have to wave someone down to ask for a table.clearly there is 4 empty table ,but still had to wait. When i ask is the table been reserved. Simply answer they need to clean the table. 1 couples behind me just left. I ask to speak to the manager. I saw the waiter went in spoke with the manager,but the manager never came out to speak with me . waiter to seat me .i Wait for another 5 minutes no one serves us so i ask a waitress that cleaning the table behind me . She told me i have to wait for my server. To me it sim like i am invincible not one acknowledged me at all. I dont know it of my color. Finally the same guy came to mu table tell me my server is really busy so he will take my order. We order 2 dishes . We waited for 10 minutes nothing came ,but once i saw the table that came aftete food came. I just stood up amd walk out . I dont know cuz i am a person of color that why i am being treated this way . So beware if you are peoples of colors this mite not be a good restaurant to visit. I am every every upset . This is my first time write such long reviews i hope thia will reach the management of the restaurant

Delicious food and we didnt have to wait a long time for food. The tzatziki is excellent, lots of garlic. It will kill off any cold viruses. Portion sizes were decent and pricing is reasonable.

I Orderd a couple of dinners with extra sides. Over cooked the lamb and dry rice. Chicken was not fresh! When I called to complain the manager he took my information for a refund coupons to be mailed to me. This was in November of 21, Nothing was done about the bad food or customer service. So I decided to post about it. I will not be giving them anymore of my business.

Wanted to place an order and checked the menu online. When I called in the order, the price they quoted me was higher than the price advertised on the menu. When I asked why the difference in price, they said it was because i was ordering take out and not dining in. I was flabbergasted by the response I received. This was the last time I support this location.

Poor quality service and food. They asked for proof of vaccination just two days before it expires. I am vaccinated but I find it ridiculuous to be asked for it since we all know it does not provide any protection to transmission. The food was poor quality. The meat was Ok, but I did not find Greek taste in it. The baked potatoes looked like they were frozen for a year and steamed a little bit. Also the vegetables. No flavour. My roots are from Balcans so I know very well how Greek food taste. They should not use the name Greek. Not fair. I will definetly never come back.

I ordered a takeout wrap for my daughter, but then we decided to stay inside the restaurant at a table. the waitress came up and said its against the restaurant rules bla bla bla we have to leave the restaurant haha. The worst client service ever!

Obsessed with their Greek salad and chicken skewers! I get it weekly and I cant get enough. Managers and servers are all very friendly. Weve used them for take-out catering for several of our parties and holidays and get togethers. Hummus is good, tzatziki is super strong in garlic and I find it cant handle it anymore but everything else is yummy!

Probably the worst food Ive had. The meat was dry and unpleasant tasting. The fries were cooked in old oil and had a bitter after taste. The rice was extremely average and the salad was nothing special. Avoid this place if you can.

Had dinner here the other night. The pork souvlaki was on point as well as the tzatziki (super garlicky if thats even a word!). Honestly the flavours were definitely a home run. This might become a regular place for Greek up around these neck of the woods. Who needs to go down to the Danforth lol.

Just returned from dinner. We were the only two customers in the restaurant. Food was truly, sad. One lonely olive in my greek salad, same for tomato, one slice. Chicken souvlaki looked good, but tasted very bland. The server was kind, but not very attentive. Was waiting for someone to bring my bill, while who I believe to be the owner, sat on a bench chatting away on his phone. Will not return.

Its every so once in a while you to a restaurant where its a complete experience The waiter was friendly and attentive, the food on point and prices reasonable for what you get. You wont leave hungry. I recommend this restaurant for families, a business meal or just going with friends.

Excellent. I have been going to the location down on the Danforth since the 80s and am thrilled to find this location so close to me and that the food dishes I typically order tastes exactly the same here as it does at the original location. Prices are still reasonable as well.

I ordered the large pork souvlaki with fries and rice. The pork was a bit overdone rice was good fries were a bit too hard on the outside. They dont bring garlic bread anymore as an appetizer . The Greek salad is a very generous portion but they put way too much feta and the salad is super salty

First time dining at this location. Big portions but not cheap either. Overall salty, pork pieces were fatty and some parts still bloody. Service was decent considering there was a large group of tables.

The Greek salad had only a couple of slices of tomatoes and had too much vinegar dressing. Chicken kebab was too dry. Burger and sausage were just ok.

The BEST garlicky Tzatziki ever!!

Ordered the beef souvlaki....it was DELICIOUS , tender & tasty! Came with potatoes, rice, garlic bread ( which was so very good) & one of the BEST tzatziki I have ever had!

Its 2021 and although times are tough it doesnt mean we can slack on food safety. My wife and have been going to astoria vaughan for a few years.....unfortunately, the last three visits have not been good experiences. Food quality is not what it once was and the last two times we went, I and my wife didnt feel very good just a few hours after eating. I will NOT give them a third chance!!! Time to search for another Greek restaurant.

So I decided to order Greek tonight because its been a while now since Ive had it. I looked at a few places and came across Astoria. Looked at the menu and seemed interesting and read a few of the reviews. So I rated what I did because the experience was not truly Greek, the calamari where not crispy they were dark brown. The rice was not flavorful, and the salad was not a real Greek salad and only 1 olive. The lamb was ok I have had better. Would I go there again probably not.

We decided to give this place a shot and were pleasantly surprised. The staff was quite courteous and polite, the server (I believe her name is Gamse) maintained a smile on her face throughout our stay and the food was quite flavorful. Keep up the good work guys.

Awesome service, the food was delicious and a good portion. Definitely go back again soon.

Found this gem for mothers day, as my mum requested greek for lunch. The service was great, friendly staff, and food was delicious. We will order from them again.

Today we decided to have the large beef souvlaki with salad and as a person who is not a picky eater it was horrible. The salad had only ONE olive on it and 2 tiny pieces of tomatoes? Which I was confused about. They didn t give us utensils not even a napkin and they forgot to give us two tzatziki. Oh and the portion was way off from what you get at a dine in. We got the large thinking it s enough for two of us but it was so disappointing. Definitely not worth of paying $40 for.

I just got take out for me and my girlfriend from this location thinking the portion size of a large beef souvlaki along with the salad would be similar to the portion when i visited inside. For 40$ with two drinks the takeout portion was ALOT smaller and i was promised two sauces for the large and only got one sauce..also no cutlery which is pretty much a must for take out. Disappointed for the price and portion overall from this experience.

Good food, friendly service.

This is the first restaurant we decided to go to once stage 3 was announced and I have to admit we were pretty disappointed. The restaurant industry has been hit hard because of Covid so we expected prices to be a bit higher but for the prices this restaurant had compared to what you received was extremely poor. My daughter order the lamb chop dinner for $24.00 which included 2 sides. The sides were fine but for the lamb chops she received 2 TINY chops (wish I had taken a picture) so when I asked the waiter if the quantity was correct he told me it was but he did agree the chops were tiny so he asked the kitchen to give one more - which was great but it came out raw and she couldnt eat it anyways. I ordered a large chicken dinner and the chicken was like sand paper. It was so dry. The overall experience was disappointing considering this was our first venture back into the restaurants and the amount of money we paid. Hopefully now that things are back open quality will improve.

Went there for a meet up with my girlfriends. Nice casual ambience. The waitress came to the table in good time took our order. The portions of food was large well presented and delicious. Will definitely return.

Very disappointed in the quality of food, considering I used to work at this location. Ordered over $300 worth of food. All salads were rotten, chicken was dry as a bone and the grilled calamari was tasted really bad. Will never order take out again nor dine-in. I wouldnt recommend this place either.

Saw this restaurant accidentally. The cleanliness and service is outstanding. Our server Ray was very polite, efficient and went above and beyond. Our order wasn t even late yet the Chef brought us out extra pork souvlaki for the assumed tardiness. If that isn t excellent service don t know what is. Definitely recommend and certainly coming back! OPA!!!

Average food at best. Worse though is the complete lack of customer service. They failed to include one persons entire meal with my Uber eats delivery and effectively ruined an evening for a group of friends. The manager refused to accept r responsibility, instead blaming Uber. Only when I pressed him did he finally acknowledge his staff had made an error. All I was looking for was an apology and understanding that it s about more than the money for a meal. It s about the fact that his establishment effectively destroyed what should have been a nice evening for a group of friends. Zero sense of accountability. Avoid this place at all costs. Mr Greek tastes the same and costs less.

very tasty pita chicken soulvaki. calamari slightly overpriced but tastes good as well. this place is getting a 5/5 rating due to the excellent customer service. restaurant was packed on a Saturday night and the host managed to keep us in the loop on our order status although our order was relatively small compared the others. I will definitely go back here

Always great food

The blond lady welcome us we all ordered fried calamari dinners which was delicious and they made it the perfect amount of crispness and the tzatziki sauce was so delicious overall quite happy with the food and service.

More olives in the salad next time. I had 2 olives and my husband had 1

Very mediocre food.. not authentic Greek as we know it

If it wasn t for our server they would probably get a lower rating. Although food tastes good, the portions were way too small for the price. Many other restaurants offering same quality food with bigger portions. Don t like to feel ripped off!

Wow, just wow. Is this what passes as Greek? Ayayaya, the food was pretty terrible. The worst was the calamari; it was overdone and in really old or bad quality oil. The pita bread is just gummy naan bread. Garlic bread is sub sandwich bread with garlic butter spread in it. The beef souvlaki is just beef kabab with no seasoning or spicing against. Lamb chops are more fat than meat. The only thing that was decent was the rice, veggies, and potatoes. Tzatziki was horrendous. I cant believe I spent as much money as I did. Never again.

best greek food i have ever had in Canada, their tzatziki is the best, and the food is healthy and tasty. Nothing better. veggies always fresh too. french fries are to p notch.

Thorough screening of vaccine passports. Tables were placed a bit too close together - plexi glass between tables would have helped. The service was on the slow side but it seemed that there was only 1 server for the entire restaurant. The kids sized meals are huge! I had the chicken souvlaki with potatoes and rice. The fries (from our kids meals) were perfect. The potatoes were soft though a bit on the bland side. My pork was a tad dry. The tzatziki was sooo good. My rice was yummy though random grains were not cooked and very hard.

Went a few times on a sataurday night.ok place .could improve on food and their seasoning.

First off, the Calamari tasted awful. The oil that was used seemed old and the Calamari were brown. The tzatziki had an over-powering garlic flavor. The chicken and rice had no flavor.
