There should really be an option for no stars. We had a terrible experience here and will not be returning. Anyone should steer clear of this place and go anywhere else for better service and food. We were a group of three adults and three toddlers (who pretty much had bits and pieces of our plates), yet the restaurant treated us like a large party and charged us a mandatory 18% gratuity without any notice. Firstly we got an outrageous charge for Hot Water: I requested hot water and even though the server did tell me she would need to charge for it which I said sure its fine to not create any issues, was shocked to see that at the end it costed more than a can of soda. Charging this much for hot water ($3.00) is absurd and feels like a blatant rip-off. Next the automatic gratuity policy was applied because we were a table of six, even though three of those were toddlers who did not consume any food. This policy was never mentioned to us by the server or on the menu, making it feel like a sneaky upcharge. Then one of our main dishes came out wrong which we politely did not mention at the time as we decide d it was not worth the trouble when we are here with kids. However when we did point out our concerns at the end before leaving , the server was dismissive and was rationalizing their flaws. Even, when we asked to split the bill, the staff informed us they couldn t accommodate this request, which made paying extremely inconvenient for our table. Speaking to the manager was also pointless as they made it seem like their policy is law and that inflation is why things are so costly. I am sorry but if youre running a business you can afford to heat up water and serve for free. The reasons they provided was a joke and embarrassing. Overall, the service was slow and inattentive, the policies were poorly communicated, and the charges felt unreasonable. We left feeling frustrated and definitely won t be coming back. I do not recommend this place save your time and money and go elsewhere.

Good presentation is on point here, service is friendly. It s usually busy here so it s a little loud at times. They renovated not too long ago and it s much nicer than before. Good for a date. They do a lot of things right here.

We were there today and were actually charged $3.00 for hot water. Cold water is free but if you want it warmed up you get ripped off! Total greed! There s no other explanation. Complained and manager was of no help whatsoever! In a time when everything is so expensive they have the nerve to charge for hot tap water. Disgusting

Chef should have been very embarrassed for serving my friend a chicken cream fettuccine. It was ugly and tasted worse. Had no choice to send back. Wont be coming back. I was embarrassed for bringing my friend there. If its a dish you would eat, then dont expect a customer to have it. Marcellos was authentic years ago. Now its just gone down hill.

The food was very delicious and the tiramisu is the best tiramisu I have ever had! We were served by Mac who was very professional and attentive.

Clean place, good food.

Started coming here 10 years ago and fell in love with their chicken Alfonzo dish and their home made tiramisu. But over the years they did this first renovation where they made cuts to the menu, ingredient list as well as their staff. Food came out bland and less saucy in comparison to the beginning. They did the beautiful flip of their interior however their food quality still lacked. Tried here again after a few years but it was the same bland taste. I was terribly disappointed. We miss the old way they prepare their dishes without the ingredient cuts which ultimately compromised the taste.

This is my go-to place for calamari/shrimp fritti. It s perfectly crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, and seasoned just right. Unfortunately, I was disappointed with the gnocchi; it lacked flavor, and I ended up not finishing it. Still, I highly recommend the calamari!

Receptionist was not welcoming, and hiding her face behind the menu and gossiping. When she called to confirm table was ready, she was outride rude. Waitress/server was really friendly Piera was her name Roasted peppers on pizza had a foul smell, similar to petroleum/ gas. There were fruit flies flying all around. Ordered Tiramisu, the cream cheese had a stale taste. Limited No Meat options. Vegetarian options: Very limited

Would give 0 stars if possible. My wife ordered a vegetarian pasta. Half way through her dish she spit out a piece of chicken. When we showed our waiter the piece of chicken he did not immediately apologize he said he will show it to the chef. Upon returning he insisted that the chef did not add chicken to our pasta and actually tried to convince us that the piece of chicken was actually either a piece of pasta or onion or a combination with the sauce somehow? Upon protesting rather than apologizing he says well what do you want to do ....They did not offer any apology or refund so we paid our bill and left without tipping. Also as many other reviewers have mentioned the staff are heavily racist toward non-Italian customers. Food is also mediocre. Do not dine here.

Our familys favorite pizza spot and its worth the 45 min drive for us to to visit. We love the pizza and my personal obsession is the tiramisu.

The Truffaiola pizza was tasty. It also came out very quickly after ordering. The restaurants decor is very relaxing and modern.

I recently had a highly disappointing experience at this restaurant. First, the server failed to inform us upfront that they do not split bills, which created unnecessary confusion and frustration at the end of our meal. On top of that, the server was unpleasant and showed a lack of patience throughout the service, making our visit feel rushed and uncomfortable. To make matters worse, they did not disclose that a tip was already included due to the size of our party. We were only three adults and three toddlers, but the automatic gratuity policy was applied without any prior notice. This left us feeling misled and overcharged. Additionally, they seemed to charge extra for everything even hot water! The hot water cost more than the coke, which was absolutely ridiculous and felt like an unfair attempt to inflate the bill. To top it all off, they got our order wrong and made no attempt to fix it. This lack of care and attention only added to our dissatisfaction. Overall, the combination of poor service, lack of transparency, and excessive charges made for an unpleasant dining experience. I would not recommend this place based on our visit.

The service quality has significantly declined. Previously, the establishment was known for its authentic ambiance and welcoming atmosphere. However, recent changes not only to the interior but also a noticeable shift in customer service have resulted in a disappointing experience. It is regrettable that a family dinner outing turned out to be a waste of time and an overall negative experience.

Tonight we had dinner and Ardian was our server. He was absolutely amazing. He was on point with filling up our wine glasses to explaining the specials. Thank you for an amazing evening. Another short lady with glasses and short black hair came by to help and she was absolutely rude to us, we asked for Ardian and asked for her not to return to our table....we come to Marcellos often and always have an amazing time. Again thank you Ardian for making our date night awesome.

Absolutely disappointed in the manager/owners decision while attempting to book a table. After seeing the set menu group prices, I called to inquire a table of 30 ONE MONTH out from today - a Tuesday evening. The manager says sorry, your group is too large for us to book, we cannot accommodate you . I proceeded to ask if any other day or time would work better, but she says they will not book for a group of 30 as it takes away from walk ins and we re still open to the public . At no point did I ask for a private event. I don t understand. I am paying in advance of a set menu for 30 people. It s a weekday evening. I m calling 30 days prior. And yet, they don t want your business. It s a shame as this was a really good restaurant, however I will be spreading the word to avoid going here at all costs as they don t want your business anyways

Amazing wood oven pizza using the best dough.Was made exactly how i asked .Grilled calamari was the best I ever tasted compared to other Italian restaurants. The only thing that really surprised me was they dont serve Beer on tap.

Food was good. Some misses in the food but the food came out fast. Service was top notch. Appetizers: Burrata salad was delicious. The Burrata cheese was soft with a great texture. The bread with olive spread was good as well. Frittura di Calamari (deep fried calamari) with shrimp was okay. The calamari was soft with great texture but the breading sucked. It was more soggy than being crispy. The dipping sauce that came with calamari was meh. We ended up using the balsamic vinegar as our dipping sauce. The shrimp that we added on were delicious. Main: Linguine di Mare (seafood pasta) was AMAZING!!! The pasta and seafood were cooked perfectly. The tomato sauce was infused with seafood umami which made the sauce so good. Would definitely recommend. Pizza al Polo (grilled chicken and sun dried tomatoes with goat cheese) was a miss for us. There was something missing to this pizza. Overall, it was an okay pizza. Dessert: Tiramisu was awesome. Would definitely recommend. They make it in house :) We ended up getting an Americano coffee which paired very well with the Tiramisu. The Americano coffee was good and not acidic. Lemon Blueberry Crumble Cheesecake was good. The cheesecake was on light and not too heavy side and paired well the lemon and blueberry.

Well, its busy, which kind of looked good. Been meaning to come here since 2014 since a couple of workers [maybe former? Didnt see them] used to come to the oyster bar I used to work at. So i finally got around to visiting here with my partner. Greeted by a nice host, shes nice, but I think she was definitely overwhelmed, kept professional, and was transparent about the wait, [30 mins] what I didnt know there were patio tables available, which she didnt offer. Didnt find out about them until literally 30 mins later and she sat 2 walk inside that came in after me first before we were sat. Service: We were seated in front of the bar, and I think our server did not like his job because clearly he was more focused on the football game on TV. His expression seems like he wasnt fully there. Well, at least the basic service was provided. Not bad, but not pleasant? Food: I think water had more flavor than what we ate. It wasnt bad. Just... okay. Bonus: the bar staff surprised me with a really friendly thank you and have a good night. Nice place but dont think Ill be coming back.

Service is fast, food is phenomenal, and the staff are extremely kind and pleasant. The chef is very approachable and happy as well, which makes the experience even better. I highly recommend this place to anyone who LOVES authentic Italian cuisine. Marcelo s has easily become one of mine and my family s favourite places to eat for all occasions, especially birthday celebrations! We ll be back again and again! Brilliant work, Marcelo s!!!

Dont get robbed folks. Did not like the fact that they charge an 18% fee on a party of six and they Calculate the tip with the HST. I dont know any other restaurants that does this. As far as I know tips are a voluntary The waiter Joanne Said thats how its done ( so rudely) when Complained about the HST being Added to the Tip. I asked for bread, the waiter Joanne said our policy we don t serve bread if you order pizza. We didn t just ordered pizza we ordered appetiser and pasta and lots of drinks plus we had kids on table they like piece of bread!! Piece of bread is not worth it to be served by a restaurant that is charging 100 for tip and tax!! So weird policies so weird server the service is downhill so bad that was a great restaurant to go but unfortunately I don t recommended unless you are okay to pay 100$ tax and tip. Watch for your bill they added the tip without you know. Scammers

I have always been a customer at Marcello s one of my fave spots for Authentic Italian cuisine. This time the service was very rude, charged us a significant fee. I know this time all businesses are suffering but you don t take it on your customers.

Unfortunately, our recent visit to [marcellos] was marred by a rude and unhelpful waitress. When we asked if the pasta dish contained wine, she initially downplayed the amount, only to later contradict herself and claim there was no wine at all after supposedly consulting with the chef. What was even more appalling was her demeanor - she wordlessly snatched my plate and walked away to change the order without any explanation or apology. When we explained our concern about wine, she failed to show any understanding or remorse for the poor service and experience we had. Her cold stare and lack of cooperation made us feel unwelcome and disrespected. Needless to say, we wont be returning to this restaurant due to the subpar service we received from this particular waitress. Hopefully, the management will take steps to address this issue and provide better training for their staff.

The dark haired waitress is racist and very unfriendly, if you cant take the heat get out of the kitchen, we only asked to change our order once as it contained wine and she was then frosty the whole time as we wanted to cancel it due to her changing her story two times regarding the wine

I was here with two friends and had a great experience - the service was great and the renovated/more upscaled look (since I have last been here) set the right ambience. We sat on the patio and aside from a bigger party we couldnt hear other tables and felt comfortable in the outdoor space. As for the food we had the grilled calamari and ceasar salad to start. While the salad was good it was pretty basic and the least exciting dish of the night. The calamari was exciting - the pesto on top of it really elevated. For the mains we had the ravioli (it was okay) and the pizzas we had were the diavola and the capricciosa. Both were excellent - the thin crust made it easy to indulge without the guilt! The extra slices tasted just as great the next day too!! :) For dessert we had the blueberry cheesecake and I wish we tried something else too but it rounded out the night perfectly. I will be going back.

We ordered the seafood linguine and the grilled squid. Both were really really tasty. I normally dont like tomato sauce because I usually find it too plain no matter where I order the pasta, but the tomato sauce of this pasta was very flavorful. I usually dont like squid either (girlfriend ordered it) because its usually too tough, but the dish that we ordered was really soft. Dishes that I would normally love, I loved! Dishes that I am normally meh about, I loved too! Will go back again. (been back 3 times since this review, still 5 stars)

Busy & Reputable consistently good. Neighborhood gem in Vaughan. They wont give you cheese/ sauce if it doesnt go with dish. Your preference doesnt matter even if you feel like part of the family dining there. The chef should be too busy to notice. Telling for a friend not my experience. Wanted to try some authentic Italian so popped by here recently. The staff were warm and friendly, great service and food arrived fast too. Loved the atmosphere inside and outside they also have a nice little patio setup. If you walk in there may be a wait to get seated.

$14 Spritz with very little Aperol. Send it back and they add some Prosecco. I should have sent it back and said I dont want it but was ashamed. Pizza OK but not cooked properly in their Pizza Oven. Salads OK. $450 later for 4 people is like WOW how good is in decline Next time I go to a real restaurant for that kind of money that is passionate about their offerings not some kind of assembly line mediocre offerings $18 for a salad that costs $2 and is missing the ingredients I just resigned to the fact that I will never return and never suggest Any places to avoid? Yeah this one got sure Server had a disinterested attitude but she got a good tip as its not her fault that the kitchen is a failure Honestly, pizza and salad and a drink should be easy....right?

Got the margherita pizza, because hey it s a simple pizza, how badly can you mess that up? Anyways probably should consider a secondary option if you re thinking of getting some pizza. Got some calamari which was nothing too special either. Service was good atmosphere was great. Sat in the patio.

I ve always loved this place. I went today and two of our orders were wrong. We had to wait until they got remade and the others at our table were finished before we got ours back. I have no issues with mistakes, but I feel like they didn t care that we were inconvenienced! They could have offered us a free coffee or something to make up for the mistakes. We go there a lot, but I feel after this experience we will choose other restaurants in the area.

The food is okay but was really off put by the owner and his rude behavior. Would rather give my money to a place where you are appreciated and respected as a customer!

A little disappointed with the lack of attention during my last visit. Food was top notch as always.

The decor here is beautiful and our server Zach was outstanding. The portions large and the pasta and apps delicious. The fried cod was fresh and non greasy, burratta and capers salad very fresh. The linguine de mare a huge hit! Pricing was average. It cost about $250 for 4 apps, 4 pasta mains, one glass of wine and 2 large Pellegrino. We also had coffee and one dessert, the tiramisu, which was probably the best I ve tasted, ever ! We ll definitely be back to try the pizza next time which, looked great based on what we saw at other tables. I didn t like that they don t take reservations, but we went for lunch and got a table right away. Im guessing we d have to wait if we went for dinner, based on comments by others. A great food experience nonetheless.

Drove to pick ip my paid in advance online order - and was told they didn t have it that the order was missed. Tried to cancel it only to be told by the owner he could not refund my order as he had to wait for a third party to credit him first- that I would have to come back at a later date to resolve it. Decided to wait and once my order was ready and left with it, I discovered the order was wrong with meat items on my pizza s that I specifically asked not to be on there - pizza was paper thin , soggy and flavourless. Fried calamari were over cooked rubbery and very greasy. Disgusting. The owner was arrogant, rude and had total disrespect for a customer of many years. Poor attitude. Service was awful and the food is not the quality it used to be. They obviously don t need our business, so will be happy to take it to a restaurant that values my business and treats me with the respect I deserve as a customer.

The food, the service, the atmosphere, everything was 10/10 here. The pizza was awesome, the dessert was so good, we got seconds of the tiramisu. Couldn t recommend more and will be back.

Arrived for lunch and was greeted and seated promptly. After waiting for a bit, our server had come by and checked in at which time we requested water. We had to wait further while 2 other tables who came after us, were greeted and served before us even receiving water. We ended up leaving after being there for about 20mins. On the way out, the server approached us and made excuses about how overwhelmed he was. Interestingly, we were the only people of color and had to wait while the other 2 tables were served promptly. We have been frequenting this venue without hesitation for the last 5yrs for all occasions however will likely be choosing differently in the future after such abhorrent service.

I had a pesto pizza, to try something different, and I was very pleased. The dough was delicious, and I always leave crusts behind. I also never order calamari in the GTA, but my friends ordered it and it was perfectly cooked, lightly battered and not overly-oily. I loved that it came with shrimp. Our server was very sweet and kind to us. So glad they wanted to here, they had good things to sat about the Toronto location as well.

Swung by for lunch to beat the dinner rush & it was quite enjoyable. The pizzas were good, although the Nduja option was a bit salty for me (somewhat typical for Nduja). Was a little disappointed with the serving size of the Burrata, but the dish as a whole was great with the olive spread. I would return to try a pasta option here.

wow wow wow what a great experience. This was such an amazing meal. 45 mins wait but totally worth it. Obviously busy for an Saturday night. My boyfriend and I meals were amazing and just felt super homemade. Our waitress recommend the homemade Nutella cheesecake and wow the best dessert we have had. 5/5 for everything great portion and the atmosphere was fantastic.

Sadly, Marcellos gave our small group a bill with a 20% tip already priced in. Although Im generous by nature, I dont appreciate any tip imposed upon me. My friends and I will no longer be visiting Marcellos because of this stupid move. Although our absence will not be felt, Marcellos greedy move has now cost them a few thousand dollars in revenue per year.

Coming here for years and it never disappoints. This place is so much alive , always busy , you can see how they cook , service is always friendly and they have best wood oven pizza .The antipasto plate is also one of my favorite if I m in the mood for wine. Tiramisu and pistachio cake can t be skipped !

We came in as a group yesterday and got a few pasta dishes, the food was great, the atmosphere was great, the prices were great, but the service was EXCEPTIONAL. Anna was incredibly kind to us, and made every effort to ensure our experience was amazing. We will definitely be back because of Anna.

However, despite our attempts to place our order, the waiter exhibited unprofessional behavior, acting and claiming he couldnt hear us, we have requested our order 10 times!!! Which ultimately causing us to leave the establishment. This incident occurred at 9:10 PM.

Went to Marcellos for pizza tonight. Blonde hostess was snarling through whole encounter which was unnecessarily rude. She was refusing to say anything; just stared at us with an awfully dirty look until we said hello. Started the experience negatively since we had walked in super excited, but Marcellos has the best pizza that keeps us coming back!

10/10 my favourite pizza in the GTA

Huge new renovation I didn t even know about. While I miss the old look and atmosphere, I can t say the new one is bad. The service is the same as always (no complaints) and the food has thankfully not been negatively impacted by the renovation - everything s still delicious and pretty sure the menu is overall the same

Ordered many items to try. Pizza was under cook. Service was worst. He did not even gave us bread on ordering appetizer.felt like we were not welcome at all. the old guy with glasses were serving us. he did not like us because we were brown skin. we asked small plastic glass for my daughter, he never gave it. even to pay bill gave hard time to give debit machine. he spilled water on our table, did not say sorry even once.

Thats just great.

Ill never forget this place so I call here order a peperoni pizza for pick up because this guy at work.swears its the best pizza ever I work evening shift I call around 4 and go to pick it.up during my.lunch break when I get there they tell me my pizza will take another 20 minutes Im already in a hurry because I was gonna be cutting it close already to make it back and the thing is it wasnt even just for me.my friend at work.and I where splitting it and because of this we both didnt have nothing to eat so overall terrible service I left the girl my number she said someone would.contact me never happened this has been like atleast 2 months ago and I never had the time before or remembered to leave this review untill now but their a mess if u order a pizza and they give u a time.u should.never get there and its not ready for pick up and they dont even care to get back to u its like.it doesnt even matter to them if they lose a customer or the inconvience they cause smh and u know what I dont even care to hear back.from these people anymore its the principle of everything

Went for lunch. I had Arctic char, and hubby had Linguine Mare. Caesar salad.Both were piping hot and delicious Our server was very friendly and excellent! Food

Good food. Bit of a wait, very loud if you re trying to have a conversation. However what disappointed me most is the horrible service we had. This woman was pushy, made faces when she turned around, and was just weird. My super nice friend still tipped her well but honestly wow!! What happened to polite, nice servers.

What a shame. I used to come here very often and am editing this review to reflect my most recent experience here. The waiter was incredibly rude and cold which really dampened the experience. The calamari is undercooked and served in half the quantity, and the pizza while still ok is a far cry from what it used to be. Definitely not coming back here

The food, ambiance, and service were amazing. Decent pricing and the pizzas here are really amazing. The flour is different. I didnt feel stuffed after pizza, so I believe they are using Durum flour. Calamari was cooked well n tasted fresh.

Pizza was very good but ingredients quantity was unsatisfactory. The amount of nduia sausage and eggplant was quite limited. Otherwise, good service and great Italian flavors. A wider selection of beer was missing. Prices ok, but not the best.

Well worth the wait! Great food for a great value. Be sure to get a seat in Dinos area!

The pasta wasnt as flavourful as I hoped. Felt like being in a Italian kitchen setting, and the service was great.

If I could give a -10 for service, I would. I clearly stated to the server that I had a severe nut allergy and he proceeds to serve me a grilled squid with pine nuts in it it was crushed up to the point where I couldn t notice it, that it left me throwing up, unable to breathe and in the hospital within 20 minutes. If that isn t bad enough, I went back to the restaurant to let the staff know how dangerous this act was, and they did nothing about it except for a having a talk with the server I was not refunded for my food, nor credited for the food I purchased that night. I will never be going back as they put me in a position that left me in the hospital and did nothing about their costumer service following the incident.

Nice Italian restaurant! Be aware of waiting for around 30 minutes dinner time. The portions are quite big, linguine was very juicy, i would prefer it a bit spicy souse but this way you could feel how fresh were the seafood. My husband had pizza it and it was tasty just they have added oil on top of it. Next time we gonna just ask mot to put oil, but yes we are going to be back very soon. Kid-friendliness: They do have several kid chairs.

Loved it will go back again. Went for dinner 630 - 7 quite busy line went quickly. Zach the server was great.

Our usual Italian place wasnt open today, so we decided to give this place a try. We are so glad we did! Portions were satisfying, food was fresh and that pizza was just on another level. Service was nice, just a big gap of time between appetizer and mains. Will be back!
