Had lunch meeting at this place and the food and service was amazing. I had the prime rib and it was done to perfection. The calamari was tasty. The chattery board was good. The margarita pizza was also tasty. To be totally honest everything I had was great no complaints. I had a gin and tonic and that was also great. The deco was also very appealing and modern. I will definitely be returning with friends and family. It was a bit pricey but remember that old saying, You get what you pay for. Went there for a birthday dinner and they were super accommodating concerning all my allergies (nuts, shellfish, and dairy) as well as my celiac disease! I ended up getting gluten free pasta as well as the octopus as a starter and it was amazing, and I felt great afterwards with no side effects! The restaurant is family owned and they are very knowledgable about celiac disease and take allergies very seriously! We had Julia as our server and she was super accommodating towards everything and did such an amazing job making sure we felt taken care of! I would 1000% recommend, great service and food!

The server was very unprofessional on her phone, chatting with colleagues. We got there at 5:30 the restaurant was empty and she took our order 15 minutes after we had to get her attention - interrupting her conversation with her colleague. She said she thought she we were waiting for another person even though the reservation was confirmed. The food was mediocre.

I chose this restaurant for a Saturday dinner with my partner based on its many positive reviews. Unfortunately, our experience was very disappointing. I tried booking online the day before and on the same day, but the system kept directing me to call the restaurant, even though multiple time slots showed as available. When I called, no one picked up, and the voicemail directed me back to the broken online system. The lack of response and coordination was frustrating. When we arrived, there were two hosts at the stand: one calling out ready tables and the other taking names. I asked the second host to add my name to the waitlist for a table for two, but he seemed dismissive. He stared at me for a moment and then asked, Are you sure you want to wait? He mentioned it could take until 8:00 or 8:30 for a table, despite several visible empty tables. When I said we were fine waiting, he changed the estimate to 9:15. We still agreed, but the dismissive attitude made us uncomfortable. Eventually, we decided to leave and went to another restaurant, where we were welcomed warmly and had a great experience. What stood out most about this restaurant was the atmosphere. The dining area was almost entirely occupied by white patrons, and I couldn t help but feel that non-white guests like us were being subtly discouraged. The long, inconsistent wait times and the dismissive tone from the host were unwelcoming and left a bad impression.

Ms. Solanki, I feel it is important to respond to your review. I find it extremely offensive that you would comment on the race of our customers. Anyone that know us will tell you we have always welcomed all races in our restaurant, in our staff and in our family. If you see empty tables they are awaiting the guests that made reservations in advance. As far as showing up on the evening you want to dine, we wish we could accommodate everyone but this is the reason we ask for reservations. We have no control if clients wish to stay longer, especially at that time so it is very difficult to give you a precise time as when your table would be ready. Wanted to have my bridal shower here and she flat out told me she doesn t like dealing with brides and only likes corporate events because they just pay. Need to reserve early or you might not get in. Authentic Italian food and a very good reasonable price. The only slight and I mean slight issue is no kids meal but order a pizza and share would be fine for the 2 kids. The service was great.

I visited this establishment for my birthday celebration and was somewhat underwhelmed by the experience. The food prices were reasonable, but the quality was mediocre. The seafood dishes, such as fried calamari, seafood pasta, and fish, were the highlights of the meal. However, the seafood pasta lacked flavor and the pasta noodles were nothimg special. The service was satisfactory, but not exceptional. The atmosphere was pleasant and had a nice ambiance, and the dress code was casual. One area for improvement would be the portion sizes, as I did not feel satiated after the meal. Overall If you want Italian food you can give it a try and see what you think but dont go far out of your way for it

Service was great. Definitely not the best Italian in Vaughan- was lacking the authentic nonna vibe if that makes sense.

Staff was unorganized during a shift change, staff seemed to be arguing with each other and loud swearing from staff and our food was not great. One meal practically inedible due to the amount of salt.

The table wasnt set for two, and the waitress was scarce. The food arrived hot and fairly quickly; cheese service was offered. The pesto pizza was large and fairly tasty. The chicken parmigiana had a mildly acidic sauce but not a lot of flavor. Overall, it was a rather ordinary dining experience.

255 by Alta Rossa was one of the biggest let downs I ve experienced this year. We had placed an order for the special which was recommended twice by the server to two different patrons at our table, being the 8oz sirloin and chicken sausage. Two orders were placed along side a grilled octopus and a ceaser salad. The food runner then brought our table a calamari, when we explained to her that we did not order that, she very rudely rushed away and came back 10 minutes later with the salad to which she had just thrown on the table. Once the mains had arrived, both people who ordered the steak were given veal Piccata. When the server was pulled aside he explained that the steak was yesterday s special and just decided to arbitrarily give us the veal? After explaining to him that this is not what we ordered he then told us that they could make the steaks? So they both had and did not have the sirloin? The veal was bland and had a terrible texture, the veals were then comped on the bill. However the calamari was added to it. Terrible service, bland food if you even get what you ordered. With all the Italian restaurants in the area, steer clear of 255. I would not recommend this establishment to anyone.

A cozy atmosphere for classic Italian eats. They get very busy, so my pizza was slightly cold when I received it. Their pasta (alla vodka) is decent as well and reasonable portion sizes for the price. The starter bread is nice too. Otherwise, it s a pretty basic Italian restaurant, equivalent to a lot of others in Vaughan.

Went out for dinner as recommended by my Italian friend. Tasty food, we had pizza as an appetizer and my trio meal which was delicious.

So I normally wait for a few visits to review any restaurant however I feel comfortable with this lovely place after my first trip. We had gone on a whim and didnt make reservations because.. how busy could it be on a Tuesday night at 6pm? Well it was a good idea to go so early because it was already quite full and they were expecting a full house. Every single employee was absolutely lovely. Warm and accommodating. As it turns out, its a family run business and many members of the staff are the family. The beautiful young woman who seated us was the daughter of the owner. She spent a lot of time with us going through the menu and getting our water. She also came by several times to check on us. Our sweet server was equally helpful and kind. I had a great salad and fantastic pasta. My husband also had an amazing pasta. Everything was just great. We will be back for sure.

We decided to try this restaurant after a shopping spree at Vaugh Mills and we were very pleased with food, service, and vibe of Alta Rossa. The chicken parmesan was the best I have ever had in any restaurant.

The food is amazing here. But the service was not good. We place the order for our Mains at 8:50pm and the food came out at 9:45pm. I understand that Friday nights can be busy but what bothered me the most was the that waiter did not even acknowledge the delay or apologize for it. There was another table of 4 seated next to us and came way after us and got their food before us. The waiter did not come to our table once to say why the food was taking time or anything. Its sucks because the food is really good, but the service ruins the experience.

What a place! Everything is incredible. Best Cod you will ever have. Gnocchis are best Ive ever had... sorry Ma. Coconut cream pie is out of this world! Love it!

Weve been to this recently and really liked it so decided to come back again for dinner with family. It was raining outside and really damp, we came inside the restaurant and it felt really cold as AC was fully blasting. My kids felt really cold and we were trying to select a table that would be most comfortable with less exposure to AC. I noticed one one of waitresses was rolling her eyes at a bartender right behind us and saying I cant believe this! as if we are wasting her time and bothering her! This is extremely rude to discuss customers to another employee right in front of them!! Ive never experienced anything like this before - so rude, unprofessional and disrespectful!! This was a middle-aged waitress wearing black framed glasses with black/dark brown shoulder lengths hair with...such attitude is unnecessary and uncalled for - restaurant was empty!! I told her that since we seem to be frustrating her, we will leave and the waitress said PERFECT! in a sarcastic tone. As paying customers we simply wanted a more cozy and warmer spot on a damp & rainy day. We will never come to 255 by Alta Rossa again and would not recommend it to anyone else! There are so many good Italian restaurants in the area, this is certainly not one of them!!!! Rude staff!!

The best service ever! Crystal is truly amazing. Her personality exceeds any other server. She was extremely attentive for how busy she was and didn t make us feel rushed. She was very friendly and accommodating. The food was good, I just found my pasta to be a little too saucy but it was still tasty. They have a great selection of wines. The waitress (forgot her name..the chubby one) was rude...my friend wanted to call the manager and complain, but I asked do not spoil the evening.. Message to the owner: When you charge HST on the top of 20% tip and there is no other choice to change it - pls at least train your staff properly

Food and antipasto are superb . Cocktails are pricey but very tasty. Very friendly and attentive staff. The only downside is that it is a little noisy.

It was a busy Friday evening and we didn t have a reservation but were warmly welcomed by the owner and seated quickly. She continued to check in on us throughout the meal to make sure everything was going well. The meals were delicious and beautifully plated. Our server Giulia was also fantastic and friendly; she made great recommendations for our dessert and went an extra step that was very much appreciated. The molten lava cake and tiramisu were delicious, loved it. The restaurant itself was beautiful and had a great atmosphere. Overall we had a great time and will definitely be coming back!

Food was good and the portions were ample but there were several things in the service that turned me off. While our server was very pleasant, we were a larger group and they brought out the bread one basket at a time. Groups of 8 or larger are automatically charged a 20% gratuity - I can appreciate automatic gratuity being added to a larger group but 20% seems extortionate as a mandatory tip. On top of that , we were celebrating a birthday and the only way they would sing happy birthday was if we purchased a dessert. Considering the price point of this restaurant I was disappointed in the overall service and will not be returning even though the food was good.

Honestly very disappointed with this place. Not sure how it even has 4.5 stars. First they do not pick up their phone to make reservations or invested in a proper online reservation system, so we decided to walk in. Apparently if you do not make a reservation it s a terrible idea to walk in as per the restaurant s management. Which made no sense as the whole place was basically empty. We were also the only table to have no bread while other tables had bread come up to them right away. Honestly felt racist we were the only people of colour and were treated terribly. We later had small requests or questions and got very dry responses to all. They were even trying to rush us off the table while they did not bother anyone else. However, the waitress was very sweet and tried her best to make us feel more comfortable. The management needs customer service training because this was just terrible. The food was also very mid nothing great.

We had a fabulous experience at this lovely restaurant last Friday night (May 24)! The owner Patricia Tatangelo was welcoming and very friendly as were her family many of whom work with her! Our reservation was for 7:45pm however we arrived early at 7:15pm no problem Patricia graciously took us to the bar where we parked ourselves for the evening! The mixologists made us delicious cocktails while we watched and we had a scrumptious dinner! Patricia s neice Diana recommended gnocchi in a creamy truffle sauce .it was delightful! The halibut with risotto was perfectly cooked we were impressed with every dish we had! We highly recommend Alta Rossa and will certainly enjoy another meal here on our next visit to Toronto!

Finally found a great Italian eatery that matches the hype and solid reviews. Pizza was outstanding along with various pasta dishes our party of 4 ordered. One might say the seafood pasta dish sets the bar and found to be better than many places in Italy we have dined at. From the delicious starters to the very attentive and friendly staff(Caroline) we will be back for more! Bravo and Grazie!

Was my first time. My wife has been and raved about the gnocchi and they didn t disappoint. Had the stratchitella, polenta fries, with the veal Marsala as a main. My wife had the branzino and it was excellent. Service by Julia was fantastic. Highly recommended but you should make reservations as it is a popular spot.

We were 10 minutes late for our reservation and apologized. Despite this, the host greeted us quite condescendingly, similar to the manner of a father scolding his children for being out past their curfew. When we spoke to the owner about the incident, we were met with an overall inconvenienced and derisive attitude. It spoiled the evening and as such we won t be going back. A completely separate issue- why is only half a ball of burrata served for the burrata appetizer? Part of the presentation is cutting it open and digging in. It feels cheap. Ps. If look at other 1 star reviews you ll see the owners responses. If that s how she s comfortable responding in writing, consider how she may act when there isn t a written record.

terrible experience at this restaurant and honestly it was such a shame. not quite sure what her name was but she was either owner/manager. she was EXTREMELY RUDE!! considering it was for my parents anniversary, party of 13. it was quite disappointing and we re REGULARS. left with nothing but frustrating and disappointment considering this was supposed to be a special event for us! as soon as we walked in the terrible service started. our waitress however was great, super understanding and agreed with our frustrations. overall dont recommend

We had a section reserved for my niece and nephews baby shower. The set up was so beautiful and the food and service was so amazing. The quality of food tasted so good. You can tell the pasta was home made and not store bought. Highly recommend this place and definitely coming back.

This place was rammed on a Tuesday evening. It was a good thing we had reservations. The food was fantastic and the service was also great. Our hostess was very attentive and available when required. I have the fetucini Alfredo with shrimp which was delicious. The serving sizes werent crazy but you left full. 2 at our table had the swordfish which was also apparently very good. We also had the fried calamari starter which was also very good. Will definitely be back. Parking: Lots of spots this place is right next to Vaughan Mills mall.

The food here is very good. The ossobuco was so tender and mouth watering (not over salted). Pizzas here are an easy choice for a starter & the pasta portions are great if you want to split a meat & pasta dish with someone. I gave a 3 for service due to not receiving water or a bread basket like other surrounding tables - but I will point out that it was Valentines Day & overly busy. I would return here forsure!

I took my girlfriend here for Valentine s Day and let me say we were very impressed. We had a reservation which allowed us to be seated very quickly and the waitress was happy to serve us. The atmosphere is perfect for a date and the tables are set up nicely as well. For starters we got the muscles and spinach dip which were very delicious and for our mains we got the rabbit pasta and the lobster pasta which again was also very flavourful. The portions of the dishes are big and the prices are fair as well which makes it all the more worth it. Overall the experience and service was great and we will definitely be back here for another date.

Had the short ribs (turned out to be miami ribs), ceaser salad, Gnocchi, Swalty pizza and found the pizza ans Gnocchi to be far too rich making it hard to finish. Short ribs were the star and Caesar is good. Atmosphere really nice and service average as had to ask for bread and waitress never asked how we are enjoying the meal

This is my new fave Italian restaurant. I ve been to soooo many Italian restaurants and frankly nothing has really stood out in a long time. This was my first time at Alta Rosa. I went with my siblings and our spouses and it was beyond amazing! We had resos and were seated right away. The restaurant is large and atmosphere is lovely. Good location with ample parking. Service was fantastic and the food was incredible. We ordered an array of apps and mains and everything was sooo good. The food was fresh, hot and so tasty. We all loved it and had a great time. To start, we had the fried calamari, polenta fries, burrata salad, pizza with arugula and prosciutto as mains. Then we all had pasta for mains, I had the mushroom truffle with pappadella and omg it was sooo delicious. As full as we were we got dessert and the tiramisu did not disappoint, it was also amazing. Our server was Carlo and he was so friendly and great. My family will definitely be returning. Thanks for the great experience. I wish we took more photos we devoured our food. This photo does no justice either. But everything was delicious

Went for the first time and let me tell you the food was great! Had my favourite wine - not a lot of places have it. We had a pizza which was so tasty. Then I had the veal marsala and it was savoury. Finished off with a dessert which was ok and coffee was way to strong. So for food I rate them 5 star

The food was excellent! However, we felt rushed by our waitress which wasn t very pleasant. We were asked what we wanted to order within 5 minutes of being there, and then we were told that we needed to hurry as there was another group after us. Don t overbook guests if you re going to rush them

Came here for a birthday dinner during the busy holiday season. We were a group of 12. Our server interacted with the group well, and everyone enjoyed their food. Great hospitality!

Highly recommend this hidden gem! Every dish is delicious. The service is fantastic and the rustic atmosphere gives a touch of Italy right at your fingertips. Its a perfect place for anything and everything. Select any dish or every dish, with eyes open or closed. You will love it. The kitchen knows what theyre cooking.

Occasionally they sell incredible liver dish, its a must try dish of this place. You will be surprised how good it is. The service of this restaurant is also top notch. Their employees very engaging and friendly. They have a good selection of wine as well. Dont forget to order their tiramisu at the end of the meal.

Came to this restaurant for dinner , party of 9 celebrating my boyfriend s birthday and the owner Pat was extremely rude when we were trying to pay our bill. She was aggressive and rushing us to pay. Called us, the customer, spiteful and accused us of talking about her behind her back which isn t true at all!! I was shocked at how Pat was so unprofessional after we just spent $700 for dinner. Unacceptable behaviour, will not be coming back, what a terrible example to her employees.

Pat showcased unacceptable ownership behavior towards high paying and respectful customers. began insulting us to leave towards the end of our meal. Will not be coming back. Only giving an extra star for the food which was great. Cudos to the chefs, feel bad for them.

I was looking forward to enjoying my birthday dinner celebration with my family and it was going well until the very end when the owner Pat was rushing us out when when we still had 15 mins left on our 2 hour reservation. Then to make matters worse she said that we were spiteful. We were a large group of 9 people and spent well over $700. Never in my life have I experienced such a rude, unprofessional owner of a restaurant. We were delayed in receiving our food because the restaurant was busy and towards the end we were rushed to pay and leave our seats to accommodate other customers. Its a ashame that the good food was overshadowed by such a rude and hostile owner. Me and my family will not be going back.

The restaurant is very pretty! The service was okey, they did not explain very well the plates, my ñoquis were supposed to be with pesto, and they came with more cream than expected. Food is average. The sizes of the plates are big.

This is an excellent restaurant, the food, decor, and staff are all exceptional, modern Italian at its finest. Our server Giulia really connected with us and made us feel welcome. Note the lovely wall of wine bottles does block the view of the door for the staff, dont be afraid to peak around the corner and make sure they see you!

Delicious authentic Italian food: very good pizza which dough was light, fluffy with nice sauce and cheese, good 12oz steak special cooked to perfection and veal in Masala oh so savorily tasty. Branzino dish has too much sauce thpugh, a bit soggy so I prefer grilled. Still, food and service were good and personally I find the menu is quite more than competitively priced compared to other similar class Italian restaurants nearby.
