We are greeted by all staff as soon we entered the place and got seated right away. We ordered the special set and it did not disappoint (the katsu is crispy and not greasy 😋). The set was large portion and we end up taking the leftovers to go. Good place to eat variety of katsu. Will come back for sure.
I had the pleasure of trying katsu in Burquitlam recently, and I really appreciated the wonderful service. The food was delicious, and it was lovely to have both a salad and a refill of rice included—such a thoughtful addition! That said, I did notice the music was a bit on the loud side, which made it a little hard to fully enjoy the experience. Overall, though, it was a nice outing.
The Katsu sauce had a unique taste, but overall it was the best tonkatsu place I've had in Vancouver. The taste was great, and the portion size was very enough for the price, which made it very satisfying. The restaurant had a small number of tables compared to the size of the space, which made it comfortable and pleasant. The staff's service was also excellent.
DonKatsu was pretty good. Pricing is up there with its competitors. Quality of food is comparable too but cabbage salad and rice refills don’t seem to exist at this place at free of charge. We also really liked the pasta, which was surprisingly tasty especially the sauce. Place usually isn’t packed so you should be able to get seated fairly shortly.

Stepped into the restaurant not really looking to eat but found the place open amongst many closed restaurants. Staff greeted me at the door and I asked for a menu which was promptly provided. A staff member (tall young man with perm) provided a thorough explanation of the menu and what different food options was available and the restaurant was about. I opted to dine in after the thorough explanation and genuine service even before I sat. Once I settled on an order the staff loudly shouted to the kitchen staff and proceeded to hand me utensils/water. Moments later I could hear a meat mallet being slammed against what can be presumed to be my order (pork loin cutlet). Not long after I sat down another customer came in asking to look at the menu and explaining they're unfamiliar with the concept. the food came out quickly. The deep fried loin was pleasantly plated; light tasting; and juicy with flavour. 5/5 food. 5/5 service. 5/5 ambiance. Seems like cabbage salad sides are unlimited too! Beginning to end this was 5/5. The food has always been amazing here. Have been coming here for a long time. Their special set katsu menu comes with enough food for two and the variety of foods really adds to the dining experience. The presentation is also on point. Would highly recommend to try out their red carbonara katsu with your choice of protein.
I recently had the pleasure of dining at Katsuya, and it was an exceptional experience. Came on a date with my girlfriend, we were greeted as we stepped into the place and were seated right away, love the atmosphere lovely music that fits the season and also love the bread displays it shows that the breading is authentic. I was overwhelmed in a way in which the food had a excellent presentation and the portions were worth the pricing, also love the sesame seeds which you can grind by yourself it gives it a nice detail to add to the meal. Most importantly the Katsu is cooked just right, my girlfriend got the silver cheese katsu and the cheese was just right melting and not too hot, recommend this place for real, nice little hidden spot for a date or for a filling meal :)
The cutlets were very good and perfectly flakey. A bit pricey but the Special Set is definitely enough for two people to eat a good sized lunch

I was just looking for a place to eat for lunch and wanted to get a bbt afterwards. So I decided to give this restaurant a try. I didn t expect it to be so good. The price is reasonable given how expensive eating out is nowadays. The service is wonderful too. Will come back again next time I am around.

The best place in quantity/price ratio!, the portions are BIG, the taste is sooooo good!, we ordered takoyakis to start , they offer water and tea, and as main dishes we ordered the curry, honey-mustard and garlic katsu, they also have variety of sodas if you would like something else to drink, staff was polite and fast, if you order katsu it includes a miso soup with unlimited refill! It was my first time eating at this place. I had Special set which contains pork loin katsu, deep fried shrimps, small udon, side dishes. It was big and great meal. I. couldnt finish it.
The fried food doesnt smell like oil at all, so it looks like theyre using good oil, and it was really delicious. For the price, and the amount is enough to feed 4 people, its the best pork cutlet restaurant Ive ever been to in Vancouver.

So I came here because my dad brought back home leftovers from the store, and the following day, cold, the tonkatsu was still delicious. I had no idea how big the portions were based on couple pieces he left, but everything exceeds expectation. I ordered their special katsu menu, and honestly I feel like it was a mistake I came here alone. Its enough to feeds two, maybe even three people if the portion is small. The small udon is served with imitation crab sticks,some tofu skins and tenkatsu. Their broth was light and clean tsuyu sauce. I liked how the rice was served with a bit of furikake for the umami with first bite. The fry itself was amazing. They are both coated with sizable crumbs, which made it really crispy when you bite into it. Shrimp was fresh and the pork, as I said even tasted good the following day. I also like how they give you sesame seed and the mortal and pestle bowl. Its something that select older Asian tonkatsu places do, and when you grind up the sesame and eat it with the sauce it adds extra texture and fragrance. It was nostalgic for me, because I simply havent seen it that often in Tonkatsu restaurants in Vancouver. There coleslaw comes unseasoned, so that you can put however much salad dressing you want which is kept on the table. Its just the right amount of tart and sweet. Its sliced thinly just how it has to be, and its cool that they serve it that way so the salad doesnt get soggy. I was especially fan of the number of side dishes, which was five,on top of the salad. They served oshinko(Japanese sweet radish pickle) and gari(Japanese red sushi ginger), pickled cabbage,kimchi and corn salad. You can enjoy different taste with every bite. Oh and they also refilled the miso soup, which was excellent shiromiso dashi. The atmosphere is a bit industrial and clean, with metal square lights as center piece, and brick walls and tiles, contrasted with wooden decor that had the map of Canada on it. They also have a beautiful Christmas tree and the led lights. Very posh. Id bring a date here or the family or bring some friends over for tonkatsu and Asahi or Kokanee. Right now, if you leave a review you get 30 percent off, and get what I took picture of for under 25 dollars. Amazing amazing I highly recommend this place. I mean... first of all, cold leftovers seldom taste good. I am left with another box for my next meal,which I know already still taste good cold.
I ordered a spicy onion fish katsu by phone, and was a little surprised it was 27 dollars. Lo and behold, when I picked up my meal it looked like it was for several people! It included a huge portion of the crispiest fish katsu Ive ever had, a bowl of cabbage, onions and spicy peppers, a bowl of the best sauce Ive ever had, a bowl of rice and a bowl of miso soup. I had enough for 2 meals for myself. Ill absolutely be going back next time Im in the area - it was so yummy and the price was ABSOLUTELY worth it!

Really delicious food at reasonable prices, with great portions. The curries and wings are my favourites super crisp and flavourful. I love their sauces (and I wish I knew where I could buy them bc they are just that good lol) When I think about my favourite restaurants, this one is honestly near the top of my list. My favourite Asian fusion spot for sure! Im so glad I discovered this cozy place!

I think this is a Korean-style Japanese restaurant. The pork katsu is really nice, and the udon is also very good. I feel like it would be better for Koreans if there were some chili peppers. But the price is very reasonable. Im a big eater, but I couldn t finish everything. So even if you have a big appetite, this set menu will be enough for you! Kid-friendliness: There is a kids chair available, so if youre looking for a kid-friendly restaurant, this is a good choice, I guess.

Has always been our go-to place for pork loin katsu. We travel from vancouver to coquitlam just to eat here. The pork loin katsu is very tasty and tender. Great service. One downfall is it feels cold inside the restaurant with a cold weather outside.
the pork katsu is so tender and soft on the inside but very crunchy on the outside, its perfect. I love every bite of it. Will come back again for sure, their pickled side dishes are also great as well as the udon noodle.

Ill start with the pork tender mushroom katsu, the breading was good, meat was on the drier side and tougher than I expected. The mushroom sauce was very underwhelming, the temperature of the first few bites were lukewarm and the taste was not that great, reminded me a bit of canned cream of mushroom soup. The rice was a bit mushy. Though the portion of the rice was small, the entire meal set was really filling. We also ordered the tartar shrimp which was actually pretty good. Despite the shrimp being on the thinner side, I think the value is still there for $9. I cant say the same about the katsu though, $27 is steep. The atmosphere was nothing inspiring but its clean and so are the washrooms. There was nothing wrong with the service, the girl that served us was smiley and kind, checked up on us once and gave my friend a couple of miso soup refills when asked. Its worth noting that there is a lunch special you can receive at a discount if you leave a review, maybe thats the reason there are so many 5 star reviews?

I came here without much thought due to my moms typo, but it was a taste that made me want to come back. The cheese pork cutlet was especially delicious.
I ordered a Special Set Meal (that is only available Weekdays 12 pm to 4 pm). The portion was ginormous and I couldnt finish it all. It came with a pork cutlet, udon, 2 fried shrimp tempura, a salad, one takoyaki ball, some veggie side dishes, mayo corn and sauce for the cutlet and the shrimp. Nothing was really lacking except for the fact that the pork cutlet wasnt really seasoned so needed to have it with the sauce to make it flavourful (which the tonkatsu sauce was kinda too acidic and too strong in my opinion) but other than that, it was amazing. The service was amazing too, from free tea (since it was cold) and unlimited miso soup refills. Would recommend.

My daughter and I ordered the pork cutlet and curry special set for lunch, but it was more generous than expected and the portion was so large that we couldnt eat it all. ^^ Everything was delicious, but especially the fried shrimp was so crispy and savory~ However, I am satisfied except that the amount of curry is a bit small. I highly recommend the pork cutlet special set for lunch.

Its been a while since I stopped by, but the bread crumbs have definitely improved. The meat is tender, well-cured, and more delicious than before. However, personally, I would like to say that the tonkatsu sauce (general Japanese sauce) is refrigerated and served immediately, but it would be better to let the sauce come to room temperature in advance and then serve it.

Probably one if not the best Katsu experience in the lower Mainland. I really enjoyed their Gold and Silver Katsu with the cheese inside. Their sauces are also good especially their own house sauce. But you can still make your own sauce and grind the sesame seeds for the complete Katsu Experience. They also make their own panko breadcrumbs which makes the difference. Overall, i highly recommended this place for a casual dinner.

The special set is amazing. The katsu is very crunchy on the outside and very juicy on the inside. The sauce that comes with the deep fried shrimp is so good that I want to buy and take the sauce home . It s a very filling meal well worth the price I paid. Udon was good to balance the greasiness of the katsu. It was such a pleasing meal for the eyes and tastebuds!

I visited here for the first time with my son after hearing about it only through rumors. Its as delicious as they say There is a corner where they make their own bread crumbs...they are extremely crunchy and delicious. I ate a set meal...tenderloin and shrimp katsu. It was so nice to be able to eat everything including udon noodles. Safe size. They gave me 2 pieces of cheese cutlet as a service, saying it was small, but it was really good. My sons is Brick Silver Cheese Katsu. I took a picture because I remembered it while eating one piece. Its really delicious too I intend to visit again 100%~

We ordered the weekday special set for $22.4. The shrimp that came with the set was the most delicious, and the pork cutlet was crispy and tasty. However, due to the temperature, the moisture didn t drain properly from the cutlet, so it became soggy halfway through the meal. The miso soup and udon had a bitter taste, and the salad dressing was both bitter and sour, which was disappointing. For a tonkatsu restaurant, the side dishes should complement the main dish, but that wasn t the case here, so I couldn t finish my meal due to the greasiness. The kimchi served on the side was also too fermented and had become mushy. I hope these issues can be improved when I visit again. We ordered the weekday special set $22.4 The shrimp that came with it were the most delicious, and the pork cutlet was crispy and delicious. However, due to temperature issues, the moisture in the pork cutlet was not released sufficiently, so the pork cutlet was very wet after about halfway through eating it. The soup and udon that came with it tasted bitter. It was disappointing that the salad sauce tasted bitter and sour at the same time. If you go to a pork cutlet restaurant, the food you eat together should be harmonious, but that wasnt possible, so it was unfortunate that I couldnt finish it because I felt greasy in the middle. The kimchi that came on the side was overcooked. It was soft I hope these problems will be fixed the next time I visit.

I come from downtown to Burquitlam to eat Katsuyas Japanese pork cutlet. Its so delicious. The pork is thick, but the texture is soft and there is no smell. It suits my taste very well I recommend it

I come once or twice a month when I think of it. I ordered it because I heard there was a special set, and it was seriously delicious today. We ordered 2 Special sets Katsu menu with Japanese pork loin katsu, 2 deep fried shrimps, Udon, 4 side dishes and rice!! The tatsu portion as huge! Shrimp is quite big too. And the cabbage is so fresh and crispy. Overall it is a very pleasant meal and i enjoy it very much.
The two special sets are really worth it!
