Been here twice, once in July 2024, once in Nov 2024. Quality difference between a couple months was huge. (Much better food quality and taste now). Clean and spacious environment. Food was served a bit slowly though. Dim Sum dish variety is quite limited on the menu. Price is a bit higher than mid tier Over it is decent
I recently had an incredibly disappointing lunch here. We ordered four dishes, but after waiting for more than an hour, only three arrived. The last dish never came despite us repeatedly asking about it. When we requested to cancel the order after an hour, the server responded with an attitude, insisting it was coming. After waiting an additional 20 minutes with no sign of the dish, we had no choice but to cancel it for good. To make matters worse, the food that we did receive was subpar, tasting like frozen dim sum from T&T rather than freshly made. Seafood roll was.. speechless.. since when the imitation crab became seafood???? The entire experience—from the long wait times to the poor service and bland food—was awful. After spending an hour and a half there and only eating three dishes, I was left feeling frustrated and dissatisfied. I definitely won’t be returning, and I would not recommend this place to anyone looking for quality dim sum or good service.
Delicious and cute dim sum! Food was fresh and fast. We made reservations as it can get busy. Staff were friendly and attentive. I do speak Chinese as well. The kids love the food.
It's a pretty typical dim sum restaurant with decent food and service. I appreciate the speed of the service and the value for all the food. It can get pretty busy, especially during weekends so be prepared to wait if you didn't make a reservation. We got the lotus leaf wrapped sticky rice with pork, some steamed pea shoots, vegetable porridge (congee) and good selection of dumplings. It's not anything to write home about, but it's hardy and gets the job done. Solid experience overall and I would give them the thumbs up.
The food was fantastic and the staff were polite. We visited for dim sum on a weekend. Seating took some time (10-15 minutes) even with a reservation, but I find that to be normal at most dim sum restaurants. For those unfamiliar with a dim sum restaurant: just make sure you flag down the wait staff if you need anything and they'll head over to you quickly - don't wait for them to check in on you. We had about 6 dishes among 4 people and were very satisfied with all of them 😌 We had an overall great experience and will visit again soon!
Another Neptune afternoon… I think this is the only Neptune I haven’t been to yet? Anyways, in the area taking care of some business so decided to try this location out. It’s located on the front side of Coquitlam Center and facing the new Cactus Club, plentiful of parking is available up front in the malls parking lot. Inside is separated into to section; Neptune Wonton for fast casual dishes and Neptune Seafood for more of a formal dining. It’s kind of a smaller place and pretty basic to me. Anyways, here were the dim sum I ordered; 1. Seafood dumpling in soup. The imitation crab being used made the broth a bit overly sweet, was too unpleasant to finish it. 2. Steamed spicy beef tripe. It wasn’t tender enough, needed to steam it a bit longer. 3. Steamed chicken feet with special sauce. It wasn’t tender enough for the skin to fall off the bone, needed to run through the deep fryer a bit longer during the prep process. 4. Turnip cake with XO sauce. It’s almost a joke, my 10 year old nephew could’ve done better with this dish especially its presentation. Failed! 5. Baked preserved egg and ginger pastry. Absolutely horrible, the preserved egg was rubbery and the whole pastry crumbled along with its ginger paste. Failed! 6. Fried vegetables with shrimp paste. An alternate version of the deep fried eggplant with shrimp paste. It was so so. 7. Baked bbq pork buns. It was okay, the bbq pork could be less sweet. 8. Purple rice roll with fish paste. It was okay, the super jumbo size was unexpected. 9. Stir fry udon with live lobster. Surprisingly it was pretty good, enough wok hay to really bring out the flavours. 10. Little white rabbit pudding. Not bad, cute little treats. Overall, I wasn’t too impressed with the layout and atmosphere of the restaurant. It portray itself as a mid class Chinese seafood restaurant, but felt l like a simple family restaurant with mid level prices. The service was okay, enough to satisfy the basics, don’t expect anything more than that. As for the food, honestly it was probably one of the most disappointing experience I had so far out of all the Neptunes I’ve been to. Not a repeat or recommendation from me anytime soon… 1.5 stars
Came for dimsum. The portions here are pretty big and taste fresh. Lots of menu items to choose from. We had a larger party (11 people) and they had our table ready on time. However they forgot 3 of our items which we ended up cancelling. Overall good food and friendly service.
Love the food and environment! A much needed dim sum addition to central coquitlam. It gets highly popular since opening and remains so for a weekday morning - nearly fully packed before 11am. Might need reservations for weekend to avoid disappointment. Table space is a bit tight but we still have a fairly peaceful and quiet brunch.
Friday night with the fam jam at 7:30 pm. Ordered crab, fish duo, fried rice and sweet and sour pork. Fix duo was not the best when it came to prepping of the fish. The pot had a lot of bones. Not too happy about the pot. Crab was ok, pretty fresh. Sweet and sour pork was ok. The pineapple was a bit small. The restaurant was about 1/3 full. Service was ok. Parking was good. Lots of cars, but the parking lot is quite big. So parked close.
Enjoying some yummy dim sum for brunch. A culinary tradition that has captured the hearts and palates. The term dim sum translates to touch the heart, a phrase that encapsulates the essence of these bite-sized delights. So many different varieties of special Chinese dishes, served in small portions for all to share. Dim sum has always been a symphony of colors, textures, and flavors in each dish to share amounst friends. Food was fresh and fast service provided. Staff was attentive. They were busy today luckily made reservations.
Food and service werent too bad, although nothing really stood out. A bit annoying was that they had a 2% surcharge for credit card payment, not something that I would expect from a restaurant of their price range.
One of those that offers pay cash to save $$$ scheme.
Food was delicious but expensive. Did not appreciate being pushed to order more and order dim sum. We stuck to our own liking. Also, it appears that tipping was more important than being a customer. 10% is enough for tipping or not at all.
Delicious dim sum restaurant, highly recommend.
The service was extremely unfair, and the food was ordinary at best. What stood out most was the shockingly rude attitude of the staff. It was the worst experience of unfriendliness I ve ever encountered. I don t think I will ever return
Meals are so so
The egg custard Bao are very cute!
The food was not very good. Unimpressed. When someone pays over 400$ for dinner it is complete bullshit for a server to argue with the customer when they are unsatisfied with a dish. Plenty of better places to go in Coquitlam if you want Chinese food.
Favourite dim sum house in Surrey. Thank you. -kin
The food is decent but there is always hair in my food in all of them and in my water there was some thing that I didnt even know what it was. Why is there so much hairs in all the food needs to fix it because its gross and stop putting things in my water
Food variety is great, taste is okay, money vice a bit expensive
Will go again. Parking: Lots Food : 5/5 |
The food here is good. Its always busy, but the staff are friendly and attentive.
DISGUSTING SERVERS!!! Be aware. We don t know if they have food safe. If we could rate this restaurant a negative review for cleanliness, we would. My husband and I were waiting for our food (dining in) and I observed 2 servers cleaning, one with no gloves on, wiping the table with a dirty rug and grabbing utensils (chopsticks and napkins) to set the table. And then the other one wearing gloves and saw her pick up food scraps on the chair, and then swept the floor and then grabbed clean plates again to set the table. This is VERY unsanitary. I just hope the managers train their servers to do BASIC HYGIENE.
We recently did a wedding reception at Neptune Coquitlam Centre. The staff really went above and beyond. Our main contact was Nancy. She really customized the experience to our needs. We went to se her on 3 separate occasions to go over the details and it was very smooth and straight forward. We wanted to focus on the food and keep it simple. They allowed us to have a photobooth. Ive been to many wedding receptions at chinese restaurants, but I havent seen so many people compliment the food quality and the amount of food that was served. Our head table had special service. All of the dishes were separated for each person at the table so we didnt have to grab it ourselves. This was by far the best Chinese style wedding reception dinner Ive been apart of and it was a privilege that it was for our wedding.
Brought my coworker to lunch one day. Asked for iced water. The server lady does not understand English and ignored us. I get it, they cannot to hire someone speaks or learn to speak the language I am using here.
It was not busy so we got seated fast, we order a crab set dinner only to find that the crabs used were frozen crabs that most likely didn t get used while still alive in the live tanks(I catch crabs and know the difference when it s fresh and frozen). The restaurant had mice running around while we were eating which is not a good sign for being clean especially a couple of us had the runs after.
Fresh food, nice atmosphere, Friendly service... What else can we ask for? Food : 4/5 | Service
I went to this restaurant about 2 years ago and no complain that time. Today we went for dinner, and we decided not to go back there again. To be honest, food was good. Delicious. We ordered 2 courses Peking duck and the server asked us what we wanted. We said we want lettuce wrap, and he said it is extra 10 dollars. We were like sure. Then we were done and about to pay. The server asked us how we paying, we said credit card. He then said 2% service charge. You want debit card? That point we were like everything is extra charge when it is already expensive. One thing was that they did not charge for the tea though.
If I could give zero stars I would. The absolute worst experience I have ever had in dinning in my whole life or I have ever heard of just happened at this restaurant. My family and friends have supported this restaurant since they opened. Today we went and had a dish that tasted so awful we sent it back Immediately and were told we still had to pay for it because it s our fault we didn t like it ..then the manger had to argue with the boss and sent the male boss out to Yell at us two women in the restaurant which was the most disgusting and disrespectful experience ever. He even said well if you don t pay for it I have too and not doing that . Definitely the worst customer service I ve ever seen or heard of. Unfortunately the food is not good anymore and the service 1000% worse. We have gone to other Asian restaurants for over 20 years and they would never treat anyone this way. We have always been treated like family in other establishments. A huge mistake ever supporting this restaurant with ownership or bosses like that. Save yourself money and the disrespect and go elsewhere.
They charged $20+ for tea and water. The food was also very expensive, the service was confusing because they didn t understand English.
Had house special chow mein: sauce was too watery and not enough vegetables and meat in it. Congee: had takeout and they charged $14 dollars for congee that came in a small container. The prices are getting ridiculous. Never coming here again
Good food ,great service
The server take attention to your table when you request! Change couple time of dishes.
Not recommended, there is no pork liver in the pork liver soaked vegetable sprouts, the ginger juice in the milk has no ginger flavor at all, and the protein almond milk has no taste at all.
The place to go for tasty and delicious dimsums. The portions are big. The chicken feet is a must, if youre a fan.
If I can give minus star, I ll give them minus. They said if I seperate my bill, I have to pay same style card. For example, if my friend paid by debit card, I have to pay only debit card. I never heard like this stupid rules. I strongly recommand don t go to this store!!!!
Hong Kong-style tea-drinking culture, there are many dishes, I personally think the taste is average, and it is acceptable to the public. A table of 12 people costs about 300 Canadian dollars, an average of 25 dollars per person. Parking: Lots of parking spaces in the Coquitlam center parking lot
Went here with my parents for dim sum. The food was good. There was a dessert plate where they made it look like a cute pig cartoon!
Nice seafood
Good food. They use minimum amount of salt which I like. Parking: Coquitlam Center parking.
We arrived at the restaurant at 2pm on a Sunday afternoon. There were many tables around but because we only had 3 people, they did not think we would be spending much money. So they just basically said they did not have table and asked us to leave (but they obviously have many tables empty!). I would not come back again. Very rude!
Hand-pulled purple rice vermicelli with mixed sauce, ginger juice and milk and glutinous rice golden balls. Cantonese style morning tea.
Service is good. Food is average. So is a price.
We arrived at this restaurant as soon as we got off the plane. It is located in the Coquitlam area of a shopping mall. The transportation is convenient and there are enough parking spaces. I was very happy to see the Dim Sum paper printed on it, [ginkgo bean and peppery pork intestine pot (19.95) Ginkgo pepper pork belly soup], and I was specially ordered. It s true that if you have high hopes, you will be more disappointed! The soup base is mediocre, as light as a pot of pig bones and pork backbones flying through the water. The shredded pickled cabbage, which was cut a little too small and was almost unnoticeable, had no flavor at all. You don t have to try it! If the other dim sum is produced by the restaurant itself, the portions are quite large and the quality is OK, but there are no surprises. . . . Steamed rice roll with dried shrimp &green onion Steamed rice roll with dried shrimp &green onion Shrimp dumpling Dragon King Crystal Shrimp Dumpling Steamed pork Shao Mai with fish roe Steamed spicy beef tripe First, the words are quick and the hands are slow. Before the camera arrives, the chopsticks move first.
Wish there was a zero point option. Today, the waitress recommended the fermented fermented macaroni that only serves 10 servings a day (knowing that this is just a way of introduction), but we really don t mind having a dish that the waitress enthusiastically introduced, after all, we come here often. The fermented bean curd macaroni came out very spicy, but I was not informed in advance. The common sense is that the fermented bean curd macaroni is not spicy, and it is very spicy. So we asked for a non-spicy dish, but the manager, an elderly waitress with short hair, insisted on not changing or returning the dish. He had to take the dish in, reprocess it, wash it with water, stir-fry it with garlic, and give it to us. We were very disappointed and shocked. This kind of service. No wonder they opened two Google accounts. Unfortunately, it didnt help. One is 3.5 and the other is 2.8. The extremely low google review seems that they do not really care about it. What they care about is that every time they cook a dish, they must make money, whether you like it or not.
Some of the best food, and why our friends drive to Coquitlam from White Rock. We tag along, and another great meal. Not sure if we get special treatment, but great food, comfortable atmosphere and well tag along again. Leaving my previous words as a great food testament..... definitely would return to this restaurant. The table next to us ordered the geoduck fish and staff brought out the raw fish for customer approval, before preparing.....etc. Parking: Plenty of mall parking.
I recently dined at Neptune Coquitlam for a dim sum lunch, and unfortunately, my experience left much to be desired. While the food was passable, the service was exceptionally poor. Initially, I called ahead in the morning to make a reservation for my group of 16, consisting of 9 adults and 7 children. The booking process itself was efficient, and we were assured that two large tables would be set aside for us at the attached Neptune Noodle Bar. Upon arrival and seating, however, our group was met with unwelcome remarks from our waitress, who complained about our size occupying two of the larger tables. This unwarranted criticism made our dining experience uncomfortable from the outset. Furthermore, the practice of counting our group visibly in front of other patrons felt belittling and disrespectful. Disheartened by the lack of professionalism, I later reached out to the manager to express my concerns. Regrettably, the response was underwhelming, with a mere apology and an offer of a complimentary dessert failing to address the depth of our dissatisfaction. In summary, while Neptune may offer decent fare, the discourteous treatment we encountered marred what could have been an enjoyable meal. Its disheartening to encounter such subpar service in what should be a welcoming dining establishment.
Unfortunately today wasnt so good. Ordered beef chow mein. Waited a longtime. Finally asked. Waitress never put in order. Didnt do anything about it or seem to care. Disappointing service.
Serving is plenty fulfilling and there is plenty options to create dish of your liking We are regular visitors Parking: Plenty parking space next to the mall
Not sure if it s their oysters 3 people all severe vomiting and diarrhea an hour after dining
Food is good. Nice room and decoy. Manager behind the counter talks loud and shout and continues to throw plates while washing
Disappointed - you didnt get what you paid. The class of their ingredient used does not match with the price. Quality of cooking does not help a bit. Wont go back.
It s been almost 2 years since it opened! Why are the products produced by Dianjie Kitchen not improved and improved? Are the stores under Dragon King Group so bad? ! Watching their products go from top to bottom like a roller coaster but then immediately drop... makes it difficult for guests to understand! The special dinner was beyond subpar, and diners came in curious and left disappointed! Although all the customer service staff provide excellent service quality, it is useless! It doesn t change the diners disappointment with the food! so disappointed! I would like to ask if Longhuang Group has a dedicated person responsible for conducting spot checks on food quality to ensure that the products produced every day and every night are up to standard? ? Do the bosses ignore the importance of diners or the existence of this restaurant? ? How do you run a good restaurant? ? Just live one day at a time, right? ? My husband and I have eaten sandy scallops many times! There was obviously fresh lobster, but the food was stale? ? ? The Peking duck is deep-fried until its charred... But the portions of yesterdays fried noodles, noodles, and rice are different from todays? ? ? Can I add 5mm of small stones to the 2-time fried rice? ? Chicken chop and crab stick paper? ? A single lobster can be covered in juicy! ! Do diners have to silently accept these products? ? Many people will come here because of its reputation, but in the end they will leave disappointed...or even never come back again. A word of advice: diners come mainly for the quality of food, and for this reason And left. It s been almost two years ! Pity ! Whose fault is this? ? Relevant bosses please think carefully about it! !
The service attitude is very good and snacks are available. Parking: Plenty of parking spaces
Food is good as most Neptune locations are. Service is atrocious even for Chinese service standards. Staff are just rude. They also charge you extra 2% if you want to pay by card. No other Neptune location does this.
The new glutinous rice balls called Jin are so unpalatable! Beef brisket Chencun noodles are bland and tasteless! The ribs were leaking. After waiting for 45 minutes, I told the waiter that I wanted to cancel. Then the stupid waiter said that I couldnt cancel! Fight me there! I called the manager and wanted to fight with me... He didnt mean to apologize at all! Do you know that you are in the service industry? How do you think about arguing with customers? I won t leave you a single penny as a tip! Because the dining experience was unpleasant! No one can try to kidnap me morally! If you dare to ask me for a tip, I won t even pay you the bill, you know?
Everything is good and I still gave it a 3 star review. Because we spent $140 on a two men lunch. Their server never told us that we ordered too much. I m ok with this one.
Cancelled the delivery order 15-20 minutes later with no explanation or contact. Hours may be different because today is a holiday but they should close the orders in that case. Food is good though (4*) and I cant say anything negative or positive about the atmosphere but it looks nice from the outside. Edit: cancelled another order placed at 6 30 but Google says theyre open until 10...?
Steamed lobster on any noodles special $36. And fish maw w sea cucumber on veg also a great deal
There are many people during holidays, a wide variety of dishes, and excellent service.
There are quite a lot of people, so you can make a reservation in advance. Credit card payment is charged a 2% handling fee
We had All you can eat lobster & crab. There was a 2% additional charge if we paid by credit card (except for Amex credit card), but we were satisfied overall. The food was good and the service was also good in general, especially from the young guy (dont know his name). We want to visit next Christmas again if they do it :)
Ate here twice, two reviews in one. We were told Visa and Mastercard fee was 3% extra. Amex had no extra fees Tried to order the 6 person set menu ($298). This somehow came out to $401 after tax and tip. Thinking back now, shouldve tipped less for poor service. Food: - no Peking duck available from menu - supreme chicken broth -- chicken meat was hard and dry - tiniest abalone ever, smaller than canned ones - fish, beef, and fried rice were okay - no crab available, but it wasnt part of menu Service: - two different servers tried to put food on the spinning table in the middle. Both times, they turned it without looking and caused plates to hit our tea cups and spilling them - They were rushing their service and dripped sauce on my aunts down jacket Ate here a second time and wont be going into food review except for we were charged $200 for steamed whole fish and $300 for geoduck (our fault for not asking price). We called in back in November to reserve and was told that a private room was $600. When our dinner day arrived, we were told that we had to order $1000 and we complained that we were told $600 over the phone. Our server went away and came back and said that we had to meet in the middle for $800. Wouldnt recommend coming here. I probably wouldnt.
This location doesnt get as busy as some of the others because in Coquitlam. So less wait time Good for family dinners. The food was good. They gave away chocolate and candy canes at Christmas which was nice. I would recommend.
Overpriced Chinese food. $5.95 egg tart?! $15.95 wonton noodle soup?! Youre paying for their rent at Coquitlam Centre, and not for their service or quality of food. Service is awful - staff are unorganized and running around. You need to get someone, anyones attention for anything. We had to ask them to take our order, we had to ask to follow up on one of our dishes, we had to ask for more tea. And when you ask for your bill, they will ask if you are paying by cash or credit. If credit, they will add a surcharge for the transaction! Redicilous! Parking: Plenty.
I am very angry and will never patronize this store again! Everyone, please be careful and never go to this restaurant to eat! The crabs were dead and smelly. The manager explained that some of them were not fresh and they were not found when fishing. The lobster was fried in advance and was cold when it arrived. The waiter was too lazy to make excuses and simply said: All you can eat is this quality!
First time at this restaurant chain with my sister for dim sum. We got to the end of the lunch and went to pay. When a manager brought around the receipt we said we wanted to split the bill. She huffed and walked off. Came back with a giant calculator to split the total. They asked us if we were paying with card we said yes. I went first and paid with my Visa. She started yelling at me and said you cant pay with Visa. We have to add extra 2% for visa. We didnt know this. Have never been there before. Never been to a restaurant that charges a fee for a credit card. The manager storms off and comes back with another bill even though Ive already paid. Shes yelling about the bill and I take out change give it to her. $0.95 to cover the 2% that she was yelling at me for. The food was good. The service was awful. I get thats its busy. I dont understand why they have to be so visibly difficult. Ive been to many dim sum restaurants and never had a problem. Kirin doesnt seem to have issues but apparently Neptune does. I would never return here again. Not after being yelled at for a policy we had no way of knowing about.
Had the giant sized dim sum. Pork and Shrimp. Very clean and good service. Coq center is a great location parking wise. Food : 4/5 |
The lobster crab ayce was terrible. Small tiny pieces with very little meat on the main seafood items. Other items are made in mediocre quality. $100 down the drain. Must avoid.
steamed pork shao mai with fish roe (9.65) / steamed bean curd roll (9.35) / steamed bean curd with chicken mushroom and imitation crab stick (9.65) / steamed veggie bun with mushroom (11.25) / steamed pork dumpling with peanut in chiu chow style (9.65) / chicken feet in black bean sauce (9.65) / deep fried shrimp and chive dumpling (9.65) / ginkgo bean and peppery pork intestine pot (19.95)
The food was quite delicious when it first opened. Last week the quality got worse and worse. There was too much oil. On the contrary, I think the food in Burnaby is better.
Lowry bad service , I m waiting for my pick up for an hour
Of course tonight is going to be busy, but its clear the staff had no support from the owner/management and they were in way over their heads. We had a 4:30 reservation and got in right away, we received 3 plates on our order (from the set menu) after probably 30 minutes. We sat and waited for the final 3 plates for 2 full hours. Almost everyone else in the restaurant was in the same boat. The line up of people who pre-ordered take out was at least 30 people deep, crowded and angry for almost the entire time we were there. Finally got out of there at 7:45, leaving without the desert we paid for in the set menu. Most people from the 4:30 round were still there. As we were leaving we passed a huge line of people who had been waiting since their 6:30 reservations. The entire time we were there the staff gave empty reasons and really couldn t do or say anything aside from get the food out as fast as they could. Management should have been there to send people away or crowd control, many people were getting rightfully angry. Apparently the kitchen staff were all new and the restaurant had accepted way too many take out orders. Feel bad for the staff who are just struggling to make it though the night. Food was alright but the owner/management failed tonight.
Extremely long wait, mediocre food. Lines out the door for dine in and take out because the kitchen can t keep up. This tells me management oversold their take out and backed up the kitchen. Seated at 4:30pm, last half of the order arrived after 7pm, and we couldn t leave until 7:40pm. What a tremendous waste of time and horrendous night.
The reservation on New Years Eve was completely out of control. I made a reservation at 6:30 and waited for more than an hour, but I still havent been seated. Its outrageous! ! ! The food was not served until 8:36. After waiting for 2 hours, the children were starving!
Came here for dinner on Lunar New Year and had a terrible experience. We were told that we had a two hour limit to eat at the restaurant. My family and I got there on time and ordered after 15 minutes. We waited for our first dish to arrive after an hour of ordering! Our last dish didn t arrive until 30 minutes past the 2 hour mark. Management hid in the back and there were hardly any servers to get help from. There were so many people waiting at the desk for their take-out orders. Large groups of people were waiting outside for a long time for their reservations. Because of this, a large crowd accumulated inside the restaurant by our table. The food was very mediocre. The first several dishes served were somewhat cold. The lemon chicken smelled and tasted like lemon scented cleaning products. Very disappointed in this restaurant for not being prepared at all. I will not be recommending this restaurant to anyone.
The most aweful experience I ever have. We booked this restaurant three weeks ago and went there on time at 6:30pm yesterday for CNY dinner. Waited 2 hours then finally got a table. Till 9:15 we still havent eaten anything. Kids were starving so we ended up just left. The management hid at the back and did nothing to support the crews or help the customers. Shame on them
Food took 1.15 hours to arrive after we were seated. Even after I had pre-ordered our dishes the night before. THE biggest celebration on the Chinese calendar. Youd think a Chinese restaurant would be prepared for the onslaught of business. They werent! I made a reservation for the 4:30pm seating as they informed they were doing 2-hour window seatings. 4:30pm, 6:30pm and 8:30pm. As my group had young children, I went with 4:30pm. Observed they had a low ratio of servers relative to having a full restaurant. We left at 7:15pm and there were easily 30 people waiting for their 6:30pm reservation. The whole time we were there, it was clear they also had high demand for takeaway orders as that line was long! Food wise - the dishes were hit and miss.
The food is overpriced and the service is mediocre at best. Some servers are fine but a few are really rude.
Went at 10:30 to be sure of a seat on lunar new year day. Previous experience said that even with reservations, when the restaurant gets crowded you can still wait an hour to get seated. Went for dim sum. They use a checklist menu with text in Chinese and English and little pictures, so those looking for a roving cart experience will be disappointed. They ve cute-ified some of the menu items which can be fun. Food arrived in dribs and drabs with some waits so long we had to check the receipt to be sure if we were expecting anything else or if we were done. Conversely, when the food arrived it was hot and fresh, so there s that. They are following the new BC bylaw and charging for takeout containers so you might want to bring your own if you are expecting leftovers.
King crabs and lobsters are seriously stolen. Several friends have reported this phenomenon, and the waiters attitude is also very bad. I will never go to this restaurant again.
food was amazing fantastic service very accomadating Food
Bad review, this is my worst Chinese food so far
Ordered a number of food items for dinner with friends - long wait for the take out food and seriously not worth the money. There are better options within tricities - Go elsewhere. The congee order - bowl order is $15, the pot order is ~ $32. For our take out, we ordered the pot order) and got one bowl - the potion was ridiculously small. (In many other restaurants - one pot order = two bowls.) all of us were in shock with how small the potion was given the price tag on this item. The black sesame dessert, again, 1/2 a bowl (of a tiny container) was filled. The congee bowl and dessert bowl sizes were different. And the taste was extremely bland and watery - even worse than self-made, just add water ones you buy at supermarket in powder form. Other food was below average as well - not tasty, small portion. I would NOT go back.
I thought the food was great but a little overpriced. The staff assumed I spoke Chinese because I was Asian. That was a little annoying.
Very crowded yet very fast to the table; excellent Dim Sum, delivered to the table (no room for trolley service)
The food is ok, but the service of person who picked up the phone was really bad.
Dishes served an hour after ordered, nonchalant servers and amazingly overpriced for the quality and quantity of food.
Pretty comparable to the other Neptune locations. However, for some reason, their BBQ meats are quite bad
Amazed by the low ratings here, food is fantastic.
On March 2, 2023, my wife and I were thinking of going to a Japanese Ramen Restaurant in Coquitlam for lunch. But after we parked our car, my wife recalled there is a Chinese restaurant in the Coquitlam Mall. We decided to go take a look at this restaurant, Neptune. The entrance to the restaurant is slightly off away from the regular mall entrances. You need to walk a few steps to find the restaurant entrance. The entrance to the restaurant itself is not extremely attractive. From the outside, the restaurant looks like an average restaurant. In fact, the restaurant is set up like two restaurants inside. One, which is the first one you see when you enter the restaurant, is like a quick noodles and congee restaurant and the other, which you will see after you enter the first restaurant, is nice decour Chinese restaurant. But both appear to be served by the same kitchen and offer the same menus. It is a bit of an unusual arrangement with these seemingly two different restaurant but they are in fact the same restaurant. A little confusing at first but we figured it out when we asked the stsff whk explaied the restaurant set up. After we ordered our food and the food came, we immediately noticed the food is of very high quality. We only ordered wonton noodles type food. But wonton noodles is a good test of quality of the ingredients and the chefs skill. We were very impressed with the fresh ingredients and very good taste of the food. The staff also explained the scope of the menus to us. We liked the staff who were very friendly. We will invite our friends to join us next time we come to this restaurant which should not be long from now.
15 dollar for a small bowl of congee (with cash). You have been warned. Ridiculous
Waited for an 50 minutes for the first item on our order to come out, just told it was busy, worst experience ever in a Chinese restaurant, not even sure why we stayed, maybe st be the good food . One bad out of five or more visits
If I could give zero stars I would. Just drive down the street to Lees garden for better service & food. Read through the reviews. The 5 star reviews dont even have a description... Suspicious
Fantastic higher end dim sum. Large portions, very well made, and clean establishment. A little more expensive but with the price.
Went in to pick up menu. The servers was very pleasant and attend to us even we dropped in for menu. She explained their special and specialty. For a Chinese restaurant that is above service. I will definately try the food.
I ordered king crab, but after waiting for an hour, I was told there was no crab Very poor service attitude!
Dimsum was very good! Also loved their crispy fish skin with salted egg yolk & diced beef tenderloin w/ eggplant - they were scrumptious! Service was quick & efficient! W Highly recommended!
You dont have to make reservation coz you wont get a table, no need to reserve king crab coz you wont get it plus no need to order dim sum coz they lost the order and gave the dim sum to someone else. Bad experience one after another. One star is given to the ladies at Neptune Noodles coz theyre nice.
so bad experience in this restaurant. they charge credit card fee 2% and togo box fee. I reserved 12pm , but we got a table at 12:40pm.
Tried this out for Dim Sum. Found the portions way too big for two people. Food was very good but pricey.
food was very good service not so much too many customers for the amount of staff , had to wait 15 minutes between dishes instead of them all coming at the same time.
Decent dim sum
Ordered Takeout. Food was ok but the experience picking up the takeout was horrible. Arrived 30 mins as suggested but had to wait another 30 mins. It was quite busy but no one was ahead of me. I was not greeted by anyone nor did I feel welcomed. I tell the manager walking by that I was here for pickup. He saids something points at the kitchen and walks in that direction. He comes back but does not say anything to me. I had to whip out some chinese so the manager understood I was there for pickup. His attitude 180s right after he notices customers who were sitting down heard what I said to him. Will not be returning.
Was really annoyed when they wanted an additional 2% to use my Visa. Food is good but not cheap so to add an extra 2% is not necessary.
A nice setting restaurant. It is clean and neat. We went there for dim sum. The food was very good. The service is friendly.
Very good
This is definitely some of the best Dim Sum around the tri cities - lots of standards as well as some very unique specialty items. Prices seem to be mid range, quality is definitely high ! Try some of their unique Neptune specialties , youll be very glad you did. 4 trips here in the last few months and many more ahead :)
Incredible Asian food, awsome taste. The best 4 us & we go all over 4 chinese food
The price is high and the dish head has shrunk. not worth.
Love the dish !
The food was tasty, staff was friendly and overall it was pretty good experience. The prices are about the same as all the other Din Sum restaurants in the area. The only downside is the food took a long time to come out. We were there when they first open at 9am and had the order in by 9:15. The final dish, the chicken rice didnt arrived until about 9:55. Maybe its because they just opened recently? Hopefully it will be better the next time Im there
Delicious!
Liked the food
Food is not bad, but some dishes like the rice roll are a little bland. A bit pricey for what you get compared to some other dim sum places.
I had the most baffling experience. I have actually recommended and loved the food here. But tonight was my congratulatory dinner before I leave for school. I had ordered a bottle of red wine (over priced as expected) and had paid for it earlier in the dinner (as my mom had insisted on paying for dinner itself). We were having a great time then my mom tipped 18-20% on a $355 bill. As we were leaving we had a server come over and say I didn t pay for the wine. I was confused and checked my online banking which showed that I had paid. So I asked the waiter to clarify and they basically said the manager was requiring me to tip. I was like fine I ll give $5 as I know my mom was more than generous. They looked confused so I asked so how much are you expecting?? And they said 15%. I asked them why I have to pay 15% on a bottle of overpriced wine that they didn t allow us to taste and didn t even pour for us? My mom is a frequent customer and always tips at least 18%. I told the servers I know it s not their fault and asked to speak to the manager. The manager was trying to placate me by saying it s all a misunderstanding and knows that my moms a good customer. so why did they risk a frequent good customer and a whole table of people over $10? I got no apology or compensation. This completely turned me off this restaurant. $10 is not much at all. I don t care about $10. The whole thing was just offensive.
The portion is small and the ingredients taste off.
The food is great here. It was very warm and welcoming
Today I ordered fried noodles with shredded pork, fried rice with salted fish and chicken (salted fish was almost impossible to find), and pan-fried radish cake, which were also average.
They are charging 2% on top when pay by credit cards. Cost of 75 cents for a take out box.
My friends recommended me this popular restaurant named Neptune Seafood Restaurant for the delicious Dim Sum. However, we had a great dinner at this restaurant with two couples recently. Strongly recommend it for its plenty of Asian cuisine, such as Braised Beef W/ Chili Sauce, Jellyfish W/ Garlic and Vinegar, Sautéed scallop & Prawns W/ Vegetable, Beef Tenderloin in Black Pepper Sauce, and Salt & Pepper Spareribs. These regular dishes are not too expensive($25-33), but very authentic. The staff are nice as well. Definitely I am going to be back again and try their Dim Sum.
Love all foods and their service!!! Definitely will come back again
Never again. I expected the language barrier but what I did not expect is that after trying to tell our server that its not our order,( we stirred the content around to look) she stirs it around, picks it up screams at another server and plonks it down on the table next to us.. your order she tells them. Why they accepted I do not know.. We should have left right there and then.. our mistake.. The spring rolls and soup ok, the sweet and sour pork had canned pineapple and I think peaches which tasted funny.. the chicken chow mein was so awful we each had a spoon full.. left more than half the meal behind.. $60 down the drain.
Ordered delivery for a $25 2 kind of meat dish received 4 slices of meat each what a scam
general taste but no complaints at the price Parking: surface is always full try underground Food : 4/5 | Service
Authentic Cantonese food, not a bad choice in Coquitlam.
Good location. Open, Clean and neat restaurant. Welcoming atmosphere.
Love this place. Great food.
Helpful staff, good choices and variety menu.
Great improvement since opening, quick service, good interesting dim sum, friendly staff, great addition to Coquitlam local food scene. Parking: Very convenient location, easy in & out.
Went for the first time today and no line up as we came early at 9.30am. The decoration looks good. The foods taste were okay.
Not sure why my review was taken down but I came for dinner and the food was average at best and service was underwhelming (staff looked miserable) and then when I went to pay I was asked to pay more after the cashier counted money in front of me - and I had already tipped 20 percent! Very entitled and rude- will not return
Slice-skin duck for two, Laohuo soup, eggplant and tofu stew, Royal Concubines free-range chicken The dishes I ordered today were delicious, including the sweet tangerine peel and mung bean soup that came with it.
Came here for dim sum. Their chashu buns are made like little turtles, very cute until the server took scissors to decapitate it and opened the guts to reveal the sweet chashu inside. The lava yoke tiger buns are also very cute. The kids love them. They bit the head and the sweet brains leaked out. Few months ago, we came here for their king crab special at $26 per pound. Now it s back up to $52 per pound. The king crab was so good I could eat the whole crab myself. A great addition to the Coquitlam community as there isn t many high end Chinese restaurants in this part of the town.
Great food anytime, great service and always packed during prime time lunch or dinner. They do their best to accommodate people without reservations. Please call ahead even if 1 hr ahead to make a reservation. It worth the call.
Poor food quality But the interior decoration is new and clean The waiters are good This area is the only Chinese restaurant available.
Really good dim sum. Reservations are useless. Waited 40 min even with a reservation. The turtles are bbq pork. The bunnies are coconut jello Went another time and waited 10 min with reservation. Parking: Lots of parking right outside.
Nice dim sum, very quick service. Will come again. Food
Went at 1:30pm on a Sunday. Food arrived promptly after ordering and every dish was delicious. Great service.
This place made me feel unwelcomed as a non Chinese person. Will never go back!
Good dimsum, new go-to place.
We came here for lunch, and we only waited for 5 minutes for a table. The food came out fairly quickly and we appreciated the portion sizes! The food was delicious and tasted amazing, but we did find a couple items to be a bit oily.
Most of the dim sum was standard. The kawaii egg yolk cake was cute. The durian pancake tasted so good but the portion was disappointingly small. The soup dumplings were bad as they stuck to the box and popped when trying to lift them.
Manager has a BIG attitude, wouldn t even look at the customer or respond. Food wasn t even tasty or flavourful at all, would not recommend.
Ordered a vermicelli scallop, the scallop was smelly and tasteless. Last time I ordered preserved egg and lean meat porridge, it was definitely not freshly cooked. It was not even heated and was eaten lukewarm. This store is getting worse and worse. By the way, there was also a takeout, and the waiter also automatically added an 18% tip. So disgusting
Parking: 4hours free Kid-friendliness: Good Wheelchair accessibility: Good
Clean and fresh-looking restaurant. Attentive staff and clean environment.
I dont like when they gave me a look and not sincere apology for their mistake on Monday evening and its not busy at all . If you want to know why, read below. My family and I went here twice. The first time when they were newly opened. We ordered dim sum and they were okay but a bit pricy. I always go to the other places for dim sum. Today I went to the restaurant as the second time because my mom was craving for dim sum, so we decided to come here. We got the dinner menu and ordered 2- course Pekking, Jelly Fish, Chicken Knee, Salt &Pepper Squid, Sui Mai, Ha Gao and Xiao Long Bao. At the beginning, a server/manager, David, came to our table and I asked him about 2-course Pekking duck. He explained to me and I told him that I want that 2-course. I repeated 2 times. After that the another server came and as me if I want dim sum and I said YES! I didnt get the menu and I didnt know that they still serve some of dim sum menu during dinner. David didnt even tell me when he seated me at the table. Were one of the two table in the restaurant. While were eating, other tables got all their food but we were still waiting for Pekking Duck. My mom told me that it might be because it takes time to roast it. There is no server come amd check us after we stopped eating for a while. Every servers went to the table next to us who ordered Alaskan King Crab. They were checking that table every couple minutes but us! After we waited for Pekking duck for 1 hour, I decided to asked David when is the duck coming! David said he didnt put the order because he thought that I didnt want it! He apologized and said that if you still want it, it will take only 5 mins but we said no. We asked him for the bill and he asked me what kind of payment will I use. I said I will use debit because the restaurant wont accept credit card as he informed. I though that hes gonna bring us the bill but no! He went to the counter, had some tea, and went back the the Alaskan King Crab table. I waited for a bit and finally have to ask the another server. We waited for the lady to come and do the payment. There was also no thank you to us and just walked away.
Tried it for the first time today, was busy, so I thought I was in for a treat. First, service is terrible here. Staff are rude and dismissive. But the food also wasn t anything special. I ve had much better dim sum at other local spots for half the price. Won t be returning. Only good part was the room we sat in was clean and nice.
Desserts and service are good
Good wontons and dumplings with fungus)!
Ive been here over a dozen times by now, service is always friendly, and prices match the other dim sum places nearby. My family rarely has to wait compared to other places (Lees garden/Eastern Pearl). I would say the food is like most other dim sum places, somedays its not great or just okay, somedays they hit it out of the park.
Going in I had the assumption that the dim sum would cost a mint. Far from it! We got vegetable spring rolls, wrapped rice, pork and shrimp balls, and shrimp dumplings that came in at $36 dollars. Generous sizes, all of it delicious. Im planning to go back for birthdays and when the in-laws visit. Parking: As the restaurant is attached to the flank of Coquitlam Mall, it has access to easy free parking.
The taste is really average
I went to Dim Sum with my grandaughter andmh daughter in lsw. And everything was wonderful
Good for 5 to 10 family members Parking: Open parking Food : 3/5 |
Went in after visiting mall. Really good food!
We like the food and their specials on the menu.
Did not feel welcomed. I was looking forward to coming here, but I didn t have a good experience. Service was slow and difficult to order (waiter seemed to visit and talk to every other table except ours), and then once the food arrived, we were rushed to pay and leave. Food
Female hall staff who is staying the desk.(short hair light brown colour wearing glasses). She is the worst. Owner should remove that one who does not even know basic customer service. Speak in rude way and never respect customer or delivery people. Can t still believe that kind person can have a job there.
This Chinese restaurant offers delectable dishes bursting with flavor, complemented by the friendly demeanor of the staff. The delectable cuisine, coupled with the warm and attentive service, creates a truly delightful dining experience.
$98 AYCE Lobster & Crab Review After watching the Instagram Vlog about the $98 AYCE lobster & crab promo, we decided to give Neptune a try during their promo opening night. To our surprise, the restaurant was only 1/4 full on the promo opening night. We had high hopes for this place and their AYCE promo as the Vlog portrayed a table full of various crab and lobster dishes. They gave us a piece of paper to order the various dishes including the crab and lobster dishes which we were supposed to write the quantity on but they forgot to give us a pen to write. Despite the restaurant being empty, flagging someone to get a pen/pencil was difficult but we finally managed to get the attention of staff and received a pencil. There were 4 of us so we ordered 4 lobster and 3 crab dishes and handed in our order sheet. The manager then came to our table and said that we could only order 4 dishes to start and reminded us that we only have 1.5 hour to eat and last call would be on the 1 hour mark. Then the wait begins. The first plate of lobster came out after we waited for 20 minutes and the next 2 came within 10 minutes later. Thinking that the food took a while to prepare, we put another 4 orders of various lobster and crab dishes hoping that the next batch would arrive by the time we finished what we had in front of us. Well, that didnt happen. We finished our food and waited...and waited. Finally, the 2nd order arrived close to the 1 hour mark. Next thing we know, it was time to place our last call. The male manager (guy in suit and tie) was very obnoxious and eager to get us out of there. He told us that we had to leave when our 1.5 hour is up. We told him that it wasnt our fault that the food took a long time to come out. Plus, there was no one waiting for a table and the place was empty. We ended having to get into an argument with him and we werent the only ones. The table next to us also didnt have a good experience. I think they placed their last call order but their order got cancelled without them knowing. Overall, the experience was disappointing. When you pay $98 per person for a meal, you expect a good and timely service to come along with the awesome food. This did not happen. The wait staff were great but the manager need some serious customer service retraining. We even had to argue to order 2 small bowl of dessert at the end. This is too bad for them because we had lots of friends who were looking forward to come to this AYCE promo. Oh, one more thing. The crabs and lobster that they served were small ones and each dish came with tons of carbs. For $100 per person, you can probably get more food by eating a la carte at good and less fancy Chinese restaurant...and you wont get an obnoxious manager trying to boot you out of the restaurant. For those of you who are planning to try this AYCE promo...be forewarned. If you come when this place is packed...then good luck getting your food.
The food was bland and generic. Tasted like frozen dim sum reheated. Lots of msg in the food. Our bill was over $120 and the waiter said they charged 2% extra for paying by credit card! We were so shocked and managed to come up with cash to pay. We have been to other restaurants in Neptune group and none of them charge extra if paying by credit card. We have been to this restaurant when it was first opened and it was busy and food was good. It has been going downhill since then. We wont be back.
One dish was spoiled from a takeout order. Had to throw that away.
