Tried the salted crispy chicken with noodle soup, the pan fried vegetable dumplings, and the steamed pork buns. I would say everything was okay but tasted very average and standard. Nothing was spectacular but everything was acceptable. The pan fried vegetable dumplings were unique with lots of veggies inside but the food quality was just okay. The prices are fair.
This is a family-owned Shanghainese restaurant that offers a variety of authentic dishes, including classics like Xiao Long Bao (soup dumplings) and Sheng Jian Bao (pan-fried buns). The food arrived quickly and was served piping hot, showcasing the kitchen’s efficiency. The Xiao Long Bao were exceptionally juicy, with flavorful broth and perfectly seasoned, firm filling, although it does have thicker skin than Wangs in Vancouver. The Sheng Jian Bao, a delicious pan-fried bun, had a crisp bottom and was packed with savory soup, offering a wonderful balance of textures. Another bonus was, it wasn’t too oily. I’ve tried the dan dan noodles and the peanuts were crunchy and provided an enjoyable contrast to the softer dishes. The noodles were slightly overcooked. Bean paste noodles - huge portion and really flavorful. Overall, the meal was satisfying, and the prices are reasonable for the quality and location. This restaurant is truly a gem for anyone craving authentic Shanghai-style cuisine in the area. I’ll definitely be returning to explore more of the menu!
A very simple , family owned Shanghainess restaurant. Offering typical dishes like Xiao Long Bao and Seng Jian. (Soup buns and pan fried buns) Plenty of parking in the Henderson mall, this small restaurant is located in the heart of Coquitlam center. Food came out quickly and hot. XLB was very juicy and tasted good. Stuffing was firm. Seng Jian is a yeast type of pan fried buns. Not much juice inside, yet very crunchy bottom. We tried a couple of the appetizers. Both of them are very good. Beef tripes and beef stomach are very tasty with enough spices which are suitable for most customers. Personally,I can take a bit more heat on these dishe. Peanuts were crunchy and gave a very good contrast of texture. Overall, very good meals. Prices are acceptable for this area. One waiter was working during the non peak time. He got it under control. This restaurant definitely is a find of Shanghai style food in these areas. Will come back to try some other dishes.
Juicy and relatively big xiao long bao (steamed pork bun), I believe it was 6 for $9.99, but a bit lacking in taste. The spicy wonton in chili oil was a bit better and it wasn’t too spicy and much tastier. The beef noodle soup had no much taste but the meat was soft and plenty. Overall, the food and service was just ok. It’s conveniently located by the Coquitlam Library and Coquitlam Centre. There is a covered garage for your parking needs.
I’ve passed by this area quite often and only recently realized this place has a new owner. The inside is not quite big but enough to take about two dozens of people at the same time. Typical like many Chinese business makes you feel the floor is sticky and greasy. Server is super nice and friendly. We ordered the Dan Dan noodle, spicy wonton, cold pig ear appetizer and fried bun. Overall tasty food👍 Dan Dan noodle is not authentic Sichuan style but cooked right with a hint of shrimp sauce. Fried pork bun is very juicy inside with crunchy bottom. Cold pig ear with the garlic sweet and sour sauce is perfectly balanced in flavour and also cooked right to maintain its crispy texture. Spicy wonton is also adequately seasoned and the stuffing inside is tender and moist. Compare this with the other similar restaurants in the Coquitlam centre area, this one so far I think is my favourite. Highly recommend ✌🏻
If you want to taste delicious and authentic Chinese noodles, this is the best I have tried in the Greater Vancouver area. The owner is very enthusiastic and uses high-quality ingredients. Each person can eat to be really full with an average spending of 15-20 CAD. There is also an indoor parking lot nearby, so you can park your car and walk there within 1 minute. If you don't know what to order, I highly recommend trying the pan-fried dumplings (item A7) on the menu. It's worth driving for half an hour just to have those. The second recommendation is the steamed soup dumplings (item A1). If you like noodles, both the beef noodles (item B4) and the spicy dan dan noodles (item B2) are great choices.
Reminds me of Wang's Shanghai cuisine near Joyce. Affordable meals. Good food. XLB - the skin is a little thicker but I didn't mind. Dan dan noodle - gigantic portion. Great value. Not very nutty. The noodle could be less cooked to provide a bouncier texture. Zha jiang noodle - also gigantic portion. Lots of meat sauce. Same noodle note. Salt pepper chicken - $15 is pricey for a side dish but it did come with plenty of pieces. Taste was ok but fried very well with light crispiness. The waitress was super friendly. I would like to come back to try their pan fried buns too. One thing I am wary off is that they already raised the prices even though they recently opened. I hope this doesnt come frequently.
Grand opening, so let’s go we’ve ordered pork chop noodles, dan dan noodle, salted fried chicken and spring rolls. The pork chop and chicken is really good, crispy coating with juicy meat, we like the noodle texture is al dente, We would like the dan dan noodle to be more spicy, and the filling of the spring rolls is a bit too wet, other than that, we enjoyed the dinner very much, the lady who serve us are very friendly and helpful, we would definitely refer this restaurant to our friends
The food portion is small and seems like its made from frozen food. Not fresh and the meat is tough.
The portion sizes are very small, and I feel I was definitely overcharged. The food tastes like it came from the freezer; the pork belly dish reminded me of frozen food from TnT. The beef noodle soup tasted bland, like watered-down soy sauce, with no real flavor. I would never return.
terrible!
Love this place! My children love it so much thank you for making them super happy with the XLB and once again thank you for the spicy sauce!! My best gift today was this as it is my 12th year anniversary!!! I was soooo touched! This place will be my family to go restaurant from now on. We ordered spicy chicken , scallions pancake, XLB, chives and pork dumplings, mini wontons in soup everything taste sooooooooo yummy! They also sell their frozen dumplings and XLB too. Will go on Friday to buy. Once again thank you from my bottom of my heart for such a wonderful restaurant to take great care of the customer needs. Kid-friendliness: They are very attentive to the children needs
Went there yesterday Very nice workers and good Chinese food
Good! Nice and cozy environment.
Good food, generous portions and great value. I highly recommend
2024.07 The restaurant is not big, but the business is good. The bowl of fried noodles is quite big, more than enough for 2 people to share. I also ordered Xiao Long Bao and fried spring rolls, both of which were very delicious. The service is also quite good.
Delicious and price is reasonable!
Best hand made noodles Ive ever eaten.
A good place to enjoy a quick lunch of Xiao Long Bao dumplings and Pan fried buns. XLB skin was not too thin/thick and the pan fried buns were light, fluffy, and crispy on the bottom with soup inside. Only thing is service could have been slightly better and waited a while for the pan fried buns.
Definitely a hidden gem. Really good Shanghai food. There is only one waitress and shes quite interesting and nice. Make note that the front door is heavy. Food
We ordered Pork chop noodles in soup $14.95. The staff served the chopped pork chops first without noodles. After waiting for more than 10 minutes, we urged the staff, and waited for another around 5 minutes. Finally we were disappointed as the served noodle was very less, soup was tasteless and pork was not yummy. The second dish was Boiled Chinese Chives Dumplings with Pork Ears on Chilly Oil $16.95. Portions were small too and the taste was averaged. We won t recommend this restaurant to friends.
A little shop that serves Shanghainese food. Its not a big place so be mindful if you have a big party (call ahead to book a table so they can arrange for one in the back). Their XLBs are pretty good and juicy as well as their pan fried buns. Their noodles arent bad either but is a little bit bland. Just wished they had the pan fried turnip crepes as well. Their red bean crepe is good. I want to also mention they have a pretty good chicken nuggets and pork chops. Kid-friendliness: Its a small space but they have high chairs.
I heard someone recommended that I try it, and it turned out to be really delicious. The dumpling skins and fillings are both good, and the xiaolongbao are also very good. Unfortunately, they are arranged too close together. The skin will definitely break when you take them out after steaming, and the soup will be all over. The dandan noodles are OK, the noodles are soft, the juice could be richer, and it s not spicy for us. We have the dumplings as a set meal, and the red-oiled pig ears are not spicy either. My favorite is this small bowl of raw garlic sauce. It seems to have vinegar and sugar. Next time I will try the pan-fried buns and scallion pancakes. Parking: We parked in the parking lot on the second floor of Henderson Plaza, then took the escalator downstairs and walked outside.
Very authentic and authentic Chinese food, the whole family had a great time eating, the environment is elegant, the boss lady is very enthusiastic, the price is not expensive, I will definitely come back for a long time, I recommend AFANG Chinese Cuisine
We found this restaurant by chance yesterday. While waiting for restaurant to open, we were outside observing, the restaurant is clean and neat. Two ladies were preparing baos (buns) and pot stickers in the kitchen, the kitchen is very clean and tidy too. Went in at 11 oclock, we ordered a beef noodle, a Dan-dan noodles and pan-fried pork buns. The beef in the beef noodles is tender. The taste of dan dan noodles is different from that of Sichuan. The soup has a shrimp flavour and is smooth and not greasy. According to the clerk, it is Shanghai style. The pan fried pork buns are juicy and delicious, and beware of the hot juicy soup The clerk is very friendly said that the restaurant has only been opened for five and a half months (New management). I found on their menu that they have soy milk and Chinese fried donuts that I couldnt help being tempted to order one. The clerk said their Chinese donuts are northern China style, but without alum added. They came out hot and crispy, most importantly I dont have that alkaline feeling after eating. They say they use eggs, milk and flour for the dough, so its very healthy. Soy milk doesnt look like from a supermarket. Feel full and satisfied after. What I am going to try the next visit are: Jajang noodles (i.e. dry noodles with minced meat and cucumber) and Pork chop noodles.
Really enjoyed the food, they don t speak much english too well but tries. However the menu has English and pictures.
Good service, good food and reasonable price. Free parking. This located at side of Hendersons mall bldg., the entrance is infront of the Coquitlam Library . Food
This restaurant is run by 3 ladies serving simple Shanghai dishes. Their Xiao Long Bao and pan-fried pork buns taste amazing and I would say they are the best in Tricities! The staff is very friendly and service is excellent.
Very delicious and price is
Good services Parking at the back
I thought there would be various vegetables on the beef noodle soup, but only two sides of bok choy and very soft meat came out.
Best pan-fried buns, dandan noodles in town, fresh homemade, reasonable price, they hv frozen dumplings for sell too
I found the lady has lack of customer service. She is being deceitful while it comes out with the price. While we first came in she mentioned that the price increased $1.00 for all of the menu on the list. She even tried to charge more than the increased price that she mentioned beforehand at the time we would like to pay. I found out and she corrected. The Hainanese Chicken Rice : the chicken has bone in and it didnt come with the sauce and soup. (Youll get a complimentary soup but if you chose a drink they will charge an extra buck for hot drink and a couple bucks for cold drinks). Youll not get tea or water. I gave 3stars just because the food is decent but the lack of service and the greedy from the lady is 1star worthy. Edit : the previous review was intended for Lido. The new management is Afang Chinese Cuisine The owner is very friendly. Food just okay. 3,5 star.
Food is good although without being pretentious, service ok, place is clean enough. Will go again if in the area.
Went there 2 times, everything I tried are excellent, and the service is great too.
one of the best places for XLB, pan fried pork buns and Chinese donuts.
Guys, I discovered this amazing Chinese spot across from the Pinetree Library! Their pan fried pork bun and Chinese donuts are seriously out of this world. My taste buds are still dancing! I cant even remember which other restaurant in Vancouver had the best pan fried pork buns because these ones totally stole my heart! If youre in the area, you HAVE to check this place out!
Super nice owner, juicy steam dumping, highly recommended:)
Good food very tasty.
My wife and I was able to check this place out and to my surprise, the moment when we walked in, we were greeted with amazing service. We asked the worker what did they recommend and we tried out a few of her suggestions. Great food, great atmosphere. Will definitely recommend to family and friends. The little dragon buns were freshly made!!!
Great food, Great service. Price is reasonable too.
All Perfect. Thanks
Edited to Add: if you check the other reviews, it looks like they changed ownership because the older reviews shows photos of food that isnt in their current menu. I think previously this was HK style cafe, now it is more like shanghai noodle house. We are happy with the new ownership. This place is so underrated, I cant believe there arent more reviews. We have only ordered takeout from Door Dash & Skip the Dishes, and everything we got was fresh and delicious. We ordered Beef Noodle Soup, Spicy Wontons, & Chicken with Chili Oil Sauce, all were fresh, even the bok choy in the beef noodle soup looked greener/fresher than the ones we are use to at other places. A big plus is that their takeout containers are thicker (not flimsy like other takeout places) & they use reusable cloth bags.
Good service and the portion of the food is big.
The food is always good especially the Shanghai style Pan- fried Pork Bun & Pork Ear in chili oil!
Good noodle and dumpling. Especially the very crispy and juicy. Must try!
The store recommends the pan-fried buns. The skin is crispy and soft from top to bottom, and the meat is tender and juicy. It s very delicious Beef noodles and dandan noodles are both options that you can eat again and again.
2023 edit: new owner, switch to northern Chinese cuisine. Great food, noodles, dumplings, all made in house. Affordable, great service. Boss lady speaks both canto and mando
Amazing Shanghai cuisine run by a few ladies. The lady who serves also helps prepare dumplings in the kitchen so sometimes its hard to get her attention, but shes friendly and helpful. The buns and the dumplings are the star of the show here, especially the soup buns and dumplings. The only item I cannot recommend is the Dan Dan noodles. Needs more of the seasoning. Also tried the beef noodle soup, wontons in chili, beef and tripe in chili, and the fried pumpkin red bean cakes. All delicious. 100% recommend this hidden gem.
taste of China! I really recommend trying it, it s very delicious!
A very pleasant experience, simple meals are the most convenient choice for part-time workers
It s delicious and not expensive. It s suitable for lunch with colleagues, even if you don t want to make dinner.
Wonderful dinner with my family .The service is good and the food is delicious .
It tastes so good, it feels like eating back home! recommend
The pork ribs noodles and beef noodles are particularly recommended.
Super delicious dumplings and their wonton noodles. Like Will come again
Their pasta is really good, I remember it,
The dumplings are very authentic, I will definitely try them out next time
If you want some tasty food, dont go there. Their soups are tasteless and have very little beef and vegetables. And their green onions pancakes have very little green onion and tooo much oil. We had to add a napkin under and on the top, as the napkin it was served with was liquidy in oil! And if you dont speak Chinese, better skip that place. Its not welcoming other nations and peoples.
Hidden gem in Coquitlam! Tucked into the parkade entrance of Henderson Mall is this cute restaurant. AMAZING steamed xiao long baos with tons of soup (poke them first!) & pan fried dumplings. The beef brisket noodle soup is also good (flavourful & not salty) and definitely try the freshly made soy milk. Good service and prices!
The Owner s attitude is rude. Don t go.
Real Hk-style Cafe. Their free range chicken on rice is delicious and portion is decent. Their stir-fried noodles are good too. Price is very reasonable. Definitely going back. Forgot to take photos unfortunately as I devoured everything.
The food is honestly okay. It is hard to find legit Chinese food in this area. But just a heads up, if your child is young or loud, it may not be good place to go. The lady just glared at my daughter with a shh when she was loud. I am not saying my daughter is right, but she should at least come and talk to me first before scaring my daughter with a stare and made her cry. I guess we are not coming back for a while despite the fact that their food is quite good. I guess it is a good place for students, singles, or elders but definitely not families with kids. Just thought to let everyone know...
It worths 5 stars . Its spicy chicken is approved by local Szechuan people(me and my friend ) Why reviews are 3.7?! That is not fair !
Worst food Ive had. Definitely do not reccomend.
First time here. Will be my last. Came in for wonton soup with noodles (2 orders) and fish balls on the side. Bill came to roughly $29 after tax. 1) fishballs tasted decent, but nothing you couldnt get from T&T to do yourself for 1/3 the price 2) Their version of wonton is a DUMPLING. You get about 4.. maybe 5 DUMPLINGS, some cabbage leaves and noodles. If a Chinese restaurant/HK cafe cannot even get wontons right, I would hate to see them try the rest. Do yourself and your savings a favor and just avoid this place
Small Hong Kong style eatery that caters mainly to Canto/HKers nostaligia for home cooked style dishes. Has a selection of dishes for vegetarians too! Was disappointed with the claypot rice (preserved veg and pork)... it was really bland.
To start off, the food tasted absolutely bland and unseasoned. Come to surprise that the service is even worse than the food, the lady kept glaring at our table and made the experience very uncomfortable/awkward. Even when we tried to smile at her after being glared at, she got angry and looked away :| The chicken meal smelled and tested as if it was reheated in the microwave and the milk tea drinks we ordered tasted bitter. You re better off with ordering food from the mall food court or your local seven11
BAD SERVICE, BAD TASTE OF FOOD.
Tried this place like once a few weeks back. The lady owner was passive aggressive and forced me to tip more for her service. I sternly told her that how much I want to tip is up to MY decision not hers! Theres plenty of other places to go to in Coquitlam if you want to try out classic HK style dishes.
Family runs biz. Just like home made dish. No surprise. Food quality is average but price wise is below average.
Newly opened, small, unassuming restaurant with a friendly owner, good food and fair prices. Recommendations: - pork and chive dumplings - pan fried pork bun (be care, the soup inside will be hot even after sitting for 10 minutes.) - secret menu item: salty pepper chicken nuggets We also tried the dandan noodles, beef noodles, pork chop noodles, spicy wontons and steamed buns. All were decent. Slightly disappointing: the XLBs skin was thicker than I like and the beef rolls were a tad dry. There is limited seating, around 30 seats. Free parking in the Henderson lot. Glad for a new independently-owned restaurant in the community.
The noodles are good and the store staff is also very nice. The steamed buns have a lot of soup and the salted crispy chicken is very crispy.
Highly recommend the pan fried pork bun! The bottom is very crispy and the meatball inside is super juicy!!
XLB was good for the price. Prompt service and everything was clean. Can pay in cash or debit, and they have tap :)
Good food with good price. Come back for sure!
Food was terrible. Ordered Pork chop Noodle, the pork chop barely has any meat to it and stiff af. The noodle soup was bland af. The Xiao Long Bao level is at best frozen food from asian market.
It has changed hands, the food is delicious and cheap, the new proprietress cooks the food herself, and she is very nice. Five items of food cost more than ten yuan on average. It has changed hands, the food is delicious and cheap, the new boss cooks by herself, and the boss is very nice. The average of five kinds of food is more than ten yuan
Coquitlams go to for Chinese street food and snacking classics. Due to a focus on street foods from HK/Guangdong, the place is sized smaller than a typical chinese restaurant. Tried the Xiao Long Bao, Gyoza, pan fried pork buns and the salted fried chicken and all were excellent. High energy owner with lots of enthusiasm. Will be back to try the beef noodle soup.
Fantastic food varieties. I bought pork chop noodles last week and found the soup was tasteless. Today, i mentioned it and they knew about as that was the first that day n salt has not been added yet. They gave me the noddles today for free! What a great jesture. This is the right business attitude. I ordered dishes and they were delicious. Portions are large too. Certainly will order again next week. Go try them...delicious food and the RIGHT service attitude for sure. Thank you! !
Amazing little restaurant for authentic Chinese comfort food. They serve a huge variety of Chinese food. I especially loved their claypot rice which is hard to find in a lot of other restaurants. It s only $13 and is enough for two adults. They are offering $8 take out meals now to promote their business during this pandemic. Such a great deal!! I highly recommend this hidden gem located next to Coquitlam library.
Good food good people
Nice owner. But the food can be rather bland.
Found this place by fluke today. Ordered the chicken on rice with ginger/scallion oil to go. It was only $8! Chicken was flavourful and very good portion! Owner was very friendly! Will definitely go back to check out other items on their menu.
I walked into the restaurant by chance for my lunch, but found the food was unexpectedly good. I ate the chicken nuggets, TW style beef noodle soup and milk tea recommended by proprietress (so delicious that I didnt think of taking a picture after drinking it) LOL
The worst restaurant ever had. Just moved to the area, tried it out. Definitely, wont be back again. Food is bad taste, extreme expensive and very dishonest. The price they charge are higher than the menu they posted on the window. When ask, the owner said they increased the price.
Pretty decent food. Well priced.
The small restaurant is pleasantly surprised.Fried rice noodles with beef & HK style milk tea hard to find it in other restaurants. The lady was very friendly.
I just discovered this gem with the best HK style/Cantonese food Ive ever tasted in Coquitlam. Their clay pot rice, fried rice, fried rice noodle, Hainanese chicken, and deep fried squid are the must-try dishes!
Saw some people saying that the owner is dishonest, rude, and things like that, but she seemed pretty friendly. She also gave a heads up about the prices beforehand. The food is decent and has some room for improvement, but the iced hk milk tea that i got was really good and worth a try.
The staff members are very friendly. They also serve authentic Hong Kong cuisine!
A good cozy restaurant in Coquitlam city center with a lot of variety of Chinese food with Hong Kong and Taiwanese favor. The owner lady is very friendly. We enjoy all the food recommended by her during the last visit.
Good food
Very nice restaurant
Ordered take out of popcorn chicken, beef ho fun and a veggie. Beef ho fun and popcorn chicken where great. The veggies is a little overcooked. But overall good. The lady who served us where nice and helpful. Will return there when we are in that area again
Delicious food but worst customer service ever.
The price is moderate, and the food in the kitchen has plenty of gas!
msg galore
First time here and ordered take out. Boss is very friendly and price is reasonable. The rice combo is delicious!
Friendly staff, and good authentic HK style food!
Authentic Hong Kong style tea restaurant!
Yum
Cards cannot be swiped under 30, which is ridiculous
This is the worst restaurant I ve ever had. I didn t tip cuz of terrible service and bad taste food. Server told me it is mandatory to tip them, and her attitude was very rude. Don t waste your time on this one, unless you wanna experience the worst service and food. I will tell all of my friends don t go this restaurant.
This place is amazing. This little restaurant specialized in Cantonese food and traffic is convenient, 1 minute walk from Skytrain. Food is tasty and service is wonderful. Today i ordered some take out, during the wait time i went to do some grocery shopping. I didnt know they close at 8 but the owner still wait me back even they were close. I am so sorry for my careless and thank you for the good service.
The owners service was excellent, but I have to be disappointed with the food and drink. The sauce seemed like frozen and microwaved with a light and strange taste. The milktea also had a weird artificial flavor unlike any other milktea Ive tried. The machine automatically charged 12% tips for a takeout order, which I dont really mind because of the decent service, but at least I shouldve been given the options.
Locate close to library.Parking is close by .sky train close by .Chinese style noodle.satay.beef...serving size ok..
The food here is really delicious and the boss is also very nice!
Libo is one of my favourite Hong Kong style restaurants in Coquitlam. The owners used to operate out of Crystal Mall (next to Metropolis) food court for many years. Decided to retire early and sold the business there. After traveling for more than a year and return to Vancouver. They found it Life is too boring without doing any real work in life. So they bought this former Taiwanese restaurant right next to Coquitlam Main Library and just right across from Lincoln Skytrain station. 1 minute walking distance! Best to park either upstairs or underground as the main floor is only 30 minutes to 1 hour the most. The couple who owns the restaurant is super friendly. I see a lot of students dine here because they feel the motherly care from the boss. Strongly recommend to try their authentic HK style milk tea and u would thank me for trying it out here! TRUST ME! If u dont like it just ask for FREE refill.
Go there most likely once a week , very kind owner , good for family
Worst customer service experience. I had to take out an order and asked for a glass of water but they said NO! Cheapest restaurant
A great place for home style Cantonese cuisine with friendly staff. Our dishes were packed with flavour and it was clear a lot of attention went in to making these dishes. This place deserves more recognition. Will be coming again.
Food is Nasty. Very dishonest.
The Worst taste I haven t tried before . Don t come here for Hong Kong style food coz its quality is terrible and it s expensive. Bad service.
Got take out from here, its decent food! Prices arent bad at all and the food is good. Highly recommend checking this place out!
Still the best HK food in town! From a small stall in Crystal Mall and now a restaurant at Henderson Place Coquitlam, their food is still the best! Great service, great prices, and amazing menu selection
Disappointed by foods, there are many other better tasting Chinese food restaurants out there, don t waste time and money here. One star is for nice service here.
Excellent service! Food is good not oily and fresh. Chinese soup no MSG
Good food makes good food
They made the best Hong Kong style milk tea! Super cozy service and extremely delicious food compare to other same style restaurant around the area!
The day I seated and read menu. No tea no water. After 5 minutes, a group of 6 came in and seated again they have to ask the waitress for water and tea. Waitress bad attitude, no smile, disrespect. Food are soso. I ordered fried beef noodles with only 3 pieces of beef and lots of red and green pepper for 12 buck. I asked the waitress why only 3 piece of beef, she replied they got no more beef. I said why dont you tell me before I ordered. She called the chef out with a cleaver and the chef spoke in strong tone that 12 buck for 3 beef was decent. I was shocked with the cleaver on his hand and remain silence and sat down. then I ordered milk tea with condensed milk but waitress face was not good. Finished my meal, get the bill, they charged me for a dollar on condensed milk when it was not on menu. A dollar could buy a cold drink in the menu. Wow I asked her why you charged me a dollar for drink. She said due to condensed milk. So then I decided not to give any tips. She then asked why dont I tipped? I said you charge me condense milk, why do I need to tip you. She then call the chef out again, this time no cleaver. Chef was in strong tone again ask why I dont give tips. I asked is there a law stated I must give tips? They were silence. Bill was 15 dollar in total for lunch which was overprice for a hong kong cafe but whatever. I would not recommend the restuarant to anyone. I am in doubt with all these good comments. I did a little research and learned that they opened in crystal mall burnaby in the past. Read some bad chinese comments about how they serve customers. Maybe they have no business there so move to Coquitlam. But their way of doing business is no good. I would spread the words out to my friends.
Very nice quality food in coquitlam. The iced lemon tea is a must try. Steak with rice and peper sauce is also very nice.
Very satisfied with the food and service here. The HK milk tea is exceptionally outstanding . Will come back again.
It is foodcourt food with restaurant price. The service is good though.
Cozy little café. I tried the Taiwanese Style Beef Noodles with a cup of milk tea. Soup is flavorful and meat is tender. Tea could be hotter though.
Large portions. Friendly service.
Been there a couple of time, the owner is so hardworking! I went in at 9 am and ask if they have something else other than the breakfast menu she made me the most awesome Taiwanese beef noodle ! She also remembered what you usually order and likes judging from the interaction with her and repeat customers. Ordered thru skip the dishes a few time as well and the food are amazing.
Absolutely won t recommend this restaurant!!! The food taste OK, but very unfriendly staff
Food was quite good in this small-ish restaurant. Solid choice if you2re in the mood for some cafe style Cantonese food.
Best Chinese restaurant !
This place used to be a good old fashioned (and rare) Taiwanese restaurant with delicious salt and pepper chicken. Now its another so so Hong Kong restaurant. Mind you I like Hong Kong style food, but they are everywhere already so why oh why?
Great food for a good price!
I had the ginger chicken and clay pot with dried meat. My friends had the chicken nuggets. All was very good. Dishes come with a drink too but the cold one cost extra of course. Will definitely go again.
Value for money. Small business with big heart to serve good quality food.
Cash only! Tasty and large portion food
A decent restaraunt, good food at decent prices.
HK style cafe food at its best
Great service and friendly staff! Prices are good and food is well presented and tastes delicious!!
Terrible food and they got my order wrong . Food is too salty and blend to be considered edible
Went there a couple of times and learnt it has changed ownership a year ago. The food is delicious and service is excellent. All the dishes I observed being served looked very palatable. Will definitely return.
Best hidden secret Chinese restaurant in Coquitlam. Good food, good price and make sure you try the hot milk tea!
A small family style restaurant ran by a pair of couples, very nice and warm. Hong Kong style.
Probably the most legit HK style cafe in the area at least from our first visit in their (very) early days. Friendly staff and tasty food. We tried the Portuguese Chicken Rice and Hainan Chicken rice. Both were delicious. The Hong Kong milk tea is also good. Hoping they keep it up!
Not bad although theres not that much HK style cafes in Coquitlam. I believe they are run by the same people who previously worked at the now closed Crystal Mall location.
Breakfast, lunch and dinner were excellent. Choose a place where the landlady is nice and the service level is the same as that of a hotel. Although there are few seats, it is more humane and the lady boss can take care of the needs of diners. The quality of food is hard to find in Coquitlam. For lunch and dinner, we highly recommend the steak dinner for two. Super delicious. Worth encore very friendly and tiny restaurant. servers are very kind and take caring. the food wise is very tasty, strongly recommend for the steak combo, i ate like two bowls of rice with it.
Great little gem at Henderson It is located across from the library Small cafe serving HK style food. Tried the haianese chicken rice at lunch and it was very good. Reasonable prices Milk tea was very smooth too Nice addition to the mall
Staff are friendly and accommodating but some of the food items are just average at best. We got to the restaurant at 1115 which is past their breakfast time. Our son still wanted breakfast so the boss lady was nice enough to extend the time to the kids. The egg and spam was good, but th macaroni soup was very small. The hainanese rice was their specialty item but it was small in portion and lacked flavour. The baked pork chop had a nice creamy tomato sauce while the pork chop itself was more batter and bone than meat. The best dish was the sliced beef and vegetables on rice noodles - great flavour and quantity. The milk teas were decent but could be richer in tea flavour.
Food quality is average. Service was not bad. First Asian cafe style restaurant Ive been in that had recommendations made by the server. Tried the recommended Hainan chicken, but sadly it wasnt Hainan chicken. Rather a different style chicken clearly bought from anither vendor.
Friend and I have randomly discovered this hidden gem within the corner of Henderson Malls parking entrance! After chatting with the owner, I realized they were one of the previous vendors located in Crystal Malls food court! Their lunch sets are tasty and amazingly good! I would highly suggest to try out their grilled chicken and steak on rice with garlic sauce!
Excellent service the owner was very friendly and specially steamed some vegetables to go with our hainanese chicken rice when we asked. The hainanese chicken rice was excellent, my wife enjoyed it as well (and shes Chinese). Please note that the hainanese chicken rice is more Hong Kong / Chinese style, its a little different from the Malaysia style. Well definitely come back.
a really good hong kong cafe, with REAL black pepper sauce. small and cozy too. Good for cheap eats. Very friendly staff.
