When I called with a complaint, the manager hung up on me!!! I got a cod dinner for take out and was told it did not come with tartar sauce, even though you would get it for free when eating in. However I was happy to pay for it because who wants fish with tartar sauce. When I got home I realized that there was no tartar sauce and called in. They said they would give me the tartar sauce next time. I told them my dinner was ruined without tartar sauce and asked if they would give me a piece of cod and a tartar sauce next time.and the manager just hung up on me. Unbelievably bad customer service!

I was really looking forward to eating the fish and chips but I was very disappointed. The fish was good but the chips were not seasoned well and half of them were burned. Also I would imagine that for a $22 dinner fish and chips combo, tartare sauce is included... I have to eat the fish and chips with ketchup. Never going back again!

With this C-Lovers location, the C stands for Cheap I had the All U Can Eat Fish n Chips. First plate was regular sized pieces. But the 2nd plate and of fish & all fish pieces after that were small pieces. For example some fish were shaped like Sharpir markers & dipped in batter. So youre eating small bits of fish & you are eating mostly batter. This location should call it the All You Can Eat Batter & Chips This practice is a Disgrace to the fish n chips tradition of Metro Vancouver Will be skipping this location

Left a very decent tip for the server and didnt receive a smile, a thank you for coming in, or even a goodbye. The server was not friendly nor did they know the menu. Sad that tips are no longer earned but expected for bad service. Will not be returning.

Absolutely disgusted at the customer service even before trying to sit down for dinner. As soon as we walked in, we were told we could ONLY sit at 2 seater table, and not a 4 seat since they only use the 4 seater for 4 people. The restaurant was completely empty . What nonsense! This is now the second time in 2 months that this has happened. We WALKED OUT once again and will NEVER return to this location. We have been going to this location for several years if not longer. Actually we go to Langley as well and have never experienced this anywhere else other than the Coquitlam location. Smarten up guys before you loose more business. The girls laughed at us as we were leaving and very sarcastically said BYE! We left and went to Cockney kings. Wow what a world of a difference!!! We actually got to sit and pick our own table of 4.

First time visiting to dine-in for lunch. Food was very good. We tried the all-you-can-eat menu and the portion sizes were great and the server didnt hesitate to ask if we wanted a second full plate for each of us. We had to politely decline and only asked for a smaller portion for the 2nd serving. The bottomless pop was nice too. I also have to commend the absolutely GREAT service. Server was very attentive, apologized for a delay we didnt even notice, and patient with our orders despite it being a busy lunch service on a Saturday. Highly recommended. Would visit again.

So yesterday at approximately I went to have some fish & chips at this C-lovers location. Waiting to be seated there was an older waitress whom i asked if my girlfriend and I could seat at a table of 4 instead of being crammed in to a 2 seater as they had asked us to take a 2 seater table for our meal. There were a lot of empty tables. According to me I think only 20 % of the tables were taken. I asked why we could not get a bigger table, thinking at the most we would eat and leave within 30 minutes or so. After speaking with the older waitress, she commented that they get filled up very quickly and could not accommodate me and my girlfriend . So we went to Cockney kings on Hastings and had our meal. What a different culture for customer service, wow. we were asked to take a seat at any open table and of course we chose a 4 seater. The service was impeccable. The waitresses were cheerful, happy and very much service oriented. After all its not the meal but the service and atmosphere that makes it pleasant to eat anywhere. All 3 things combined make for an overall positive experience. we were very happy we ate at Cockney Kings on Hastings (Kensington Mall) As for C-Lovers we were denied to seat at a comfortable table although it was not busy at all. I dont buy the comment that they were not letting me seat at a table of 4 because they were expecting it to fill up? I did not get that response at Cockney Kings? This was the second time I was denied a bigger table. I thought I would give them another chance but Never again. I was there with my daughter and taking her to lunch there on a weekday (Tuesday) a few weeks ago and was again was not given a bigger table for us. This time at about 2 pm. There were also many seats and tables available. I feel that being in customer service business one should be able to accommodate a customer within reason and my request was reasonable. Not to mention my Girlfriend works at a restaurant as well and she was rudely awoken to the way we were treated with unfriendly , unprofessional and despicable manner. Finally I hope the owner who I was told imposes these restrictions, realizes word of mouth helps in Businesses. If youre in the service business and are being tipped from service, atmosphere and food quality. You have miserably failed me twice . Good luck to you and your ill trained staff. For those that like and frequent his establishment I would state that my experience at Cockney Kings was re superior and exceeded C-Lovers establishment at lougheed.

Terrible experience, was told to sit at any table by one waitress then as we were seating, was told by a different waitress that we cannot sit at a large table, as they are for 4 people. I told her that we were told to sit where we like and that there are no small tables so I asked where to sit and she said we ll have to wait. The waitresses can t even get on the same page. We just left and went to cockney kings which was a way better experience. Won t be returning.

Usually our go to place for fish and chips. Even tho prices have increased quite a bit we would pickup. But today was the 2nd time where the portions were quite small for the price we are paying especially chips portion. The haddock got too pricey so went with cod which didnt taste very good.

Getting more expensive every time I visit (once or twice a year). $19.99 for AYCE. $15.99 for 1 Cod piece and chips. And it seems plates are smaller, so less fries. But the waitress was generous with the Chardonnay. Anyway, good tasty comfort food still!

Really, REALLY dissapointing and frankly gross experience at C lovers tonight . Our food took a long time to come out and our server was quiet and avoidant of our table. Both our fish and chips and refills took an extremely long time with no explanation as to why. The condiment bottles were all very greasy. But worst of all was when our group of 6 all got soda refills and the server took our glasses straight to the sode machine and filled our half full glasses. Afterwards, our group wasnt sure whos glass we were drinking from since we all had the same flavour and honestly we all felt disgusted on how it went down. Its common practice to bring out a fresh glass everytime you refill. Clearly the staff have not recieved proper training and it is something that management really need to work on.

Had the all you can eat fish n chips - the batter was a perfect golden brown and crunchy, and the fish was tender and flaky. I ve had this at other locations all around BC but this one is the best by far! Great service - the waitress who served us was super friendly and managed to strike a quick convo even though she was super busy waiting all the tables, we were impressed by her skills. Wish I could remember her name but she wears glasses we were not happy she was working so hard and the other much younger girls were very slack give her a raise!

The older waitress is super rude. Mess up orders, rushing us to order, one of the worst waitresses. I did not tip her for so many reasons. The only tip I can give her is to change your job if you are miserable. When I didnt tip her, she threw the bill at me like literally threw it at me.

Those people really know how to make the fish. The take-out menu have some good family items with low price, will order again.

My favorite fish restaurant in the city. My family has been coming here for years whenever we want to treat ourselves.

Ordered take out for work. Ordered 25 minutes for pick up as drove a long way, heading to work at Riverview. Paid with tip. Asked for lemon wedge. Was told that I should have asked for lemon when I placed order. No coleslaw or ketchup, vinegar, S&P, etc. After being refused a lemon wedge, didnt want to ask for to go condiments. The person serving me seemed he had an attitude. Perhaps having a crappy day?

We had the all you can eat fish and chips . It was fantastic and great price. Our server was fantastic but super busy she was the only server on during lunch rush . We felt bad for her as I myself was server for 17 years . There should have been another server to help her , but even though she had many tables and was super busy she always go to us and was very friendly.

The food was terrible. The fish was lousy, had no taste. The waitress was lazy and rude and the cost for the meal was $110 for frozen fish that had no taste the place was dirty. It wasn t a friendly atmosphere my whole experience there sucked and I ll never go back and I ll never recommend it to anybody.

The battered layer on the fish was light and crispy. They seem to cook the fish by order, so it s fresh and hot. All-you-can-eat can eat option comes with a bottomless pop. They start you off with a plate of fish and fries, and then you can order more from there. The other menu options are good as well. Our server was very attentive and kind, even though she was the only one manning the floor at the time and it was getting busy. The restaurant interior has a nostalgic family-friendly ambiance it reminded me of restaurants I went to in the States with my family as a child in the early 2000s. If you like fish and chips, or are craving it this is a great option. Highly recommend!

A few months ago (fall of 2022), we decided to enjoy fish and chips at this location. We arrived at opening, parked and proceeded to the door, but it was locked. An employee came to the door and curtly informed us that they did not open until 11am. I replied, with my cellphone in hand, Good for us. It is a few minutes past.. She let us in and seated us, but we clearly heard her and the man behind the counter discussing us and the time, We open and closed on my watch, not the customers.. We immediately left and will never return to this location. Rude, surly, arrogant staff! When this location closes I will enjoy it.

Very good fish and chips there is a bottomless option so that offsets the servers who may be too busy or find themselves focusing on other patrons and other duties and may at times leave you feeling unattended too. But the bottomless fish and chips for 18.99 a person makes this place a gem come on an empty stomach and fill up.

I do thoroughly enjoy our bi weekly take out special . However this time might be the last time. I started eating my fish and found a big piece of plastic in it that easily could have choked my daughter if it would have been in hers . I have never had any complaints in the 12+ years I have been going here but (pine tree village)but this was little much for me. I got a call from the restaurant and it was resolved they are amazing people. Update : did our normal Tuesday routine and this time when went to pick up they gave us our order for free because of the 1 bad experience we had . I have been going there for years and will continue . Yes that experience was not pleasant but they made up for and some and I appreciate the customer service that they have dealing with mishaps .

Ordered 2-1 piece cod and chip for take out and when I got home the fish was a few small little pieces (which tastes more like Pollack than cod) and a couple looked like they were torn from someone elses fish or someones leftovers. The cole slaw lacks flavour or dressing and mushy peas werent the nicest anymore. I am very disappointed and not pleased. I dont think Ill go back to this place or recommend this place.

recently visited C-Lovers near Coquitlam Center and had a disappointing experience. Here are the reasons why I wouldnt recommend this restaurant: Upon entering, I noticed a rather large sign that stated 2 or less to sit at tiny tables. I have never seen this type of behavior from a restaurant. It seems they had only 3 people in the restaurant when I visited but are enforcing this rule. When I ordered their fish, it was mostly batter with barely any fish and small pieces. I was rather taken aback. Also, they only had one waitress who didnt seem to want to be there. It seems they have high prices for halibut compared to their competitors. They charge over 30 dollars for 2 pieces and they are only 4 oz, whereas the competition charges 25 for 6 oz pieces. Based on my experience, I wouldnt go back to C-Lovers near Coquitlam Center and wouldnt recommend them to anyone

They should change their oil regularly, the food taste burnt oil, also the fries taste like cheap ready to use potato which is not suitable for a restaurant, but their staff was kind.

Something really upsetting happened the other day at this location that I wish was handled a lot better. My family and I ordered our 3 halibut, 1 chips, and two popcorn shrimp. I called at 5 pm. Was told to come pick it up at 6:15pm. I arrive there at the time they told me to , I paid for the food and was told to wait. I understand they were very busy during this time. The only system they have to call you up to your order is your name. The guy at the counter was calling names and while doing so he mistakenly gave my whole order to a stranger. So when I came up checking where my Order was he said he made a mistake and gave it to someone else. I was very understanding with the situation even though I already waited 15 mins. He said he will get them to re make it. After finally getting my food. All I got was a small sorry about that . I arrived at 6:15 and left at 7 pm ! I didn t want to cause a scene or anything but I think that in this situation I should have gotten a refund / a gift card or something to compensate for the mistake they made and making me wait almost an HOUR ! When I already called an hour before as-well to order. I think it was handled very poorly, and it honestly was very upsetting. I totally understand mistakes happen, which is why I was understanding and honestly sympathized with the man. But to not make up for the mistake I think is a huge service fault. And was really upsetting to go through **Update: I called them about what happened since I never heard from them. They didn t want to fix the problem at first. Then said they would offer me 2 halibut and 1 chips to compensate for their mistake. I thought that was very kind. Once I showed up they did take the 2 halibut off the bill but charged me for the chips ? I wasn t even the one who asked for chips. They offered when I spoke with the management. Organization and customer service here needs to be worked on.

Long time customer but chips are not good anymore. Small pieces and has old mealy taste, not hot and fresh. Maybe oil or fat needs to be changed? Fish ok but overall wasn t satisfied with my order. Also, don t be so cheap and include a dinner roll with butter. That used to be standard with fish n chips.

The pieces were so small last time I went that Id aost rather pay premium for 2 pieces and go to white rock. Most of it was batter.... still love the place regardless! What can I say! Im fat!

I always order a halibut burger and normally I would rate it 9.5 stars out of 10. After all nothing is perfect right? Wrong!! Today I was actually shocked at how much better it was. I have never given a perfect 10 out of 10 but today it deserved 15 out of 10. Perfection!! Just amazing flavor and the staff are just as amazing. Thank you C Lovers for an unforgettable food experiance.

Id give it zero stars but it cant be done. Never seen such small pieces of fish at such outrageous prices. Pollock is a relatively cheap fish and thats what they use for their all you can eat but theyre smaller than fish fingers. Definitely wont be back.

We were served right away and we ordered a platter for two. Halibut fingers, shrimp, fries and coleslaw. All perfectly deep fried to a golden crunchiness. The coleslaw dressing was a perfect texture with the right amount of sweetness. The place was clean and the service was fast and friendly.

Fries were crisp, rugged cut and so good with malt vinegar and ketchup Parking: Loads of parking in the plaza, but poor traffic flow design, can get congested.

Over the phone order was easy. Food was good (cod and fries) and well cooked. Cashier was slow. the line for pickup was handled in a single thread, which added ten minutes to the pickup.

Order a 1 piece and its the same amount as one. (Meaning my two were extremely thin and soaked in oil) no condiments, or vinegar, nor tartar sauce which we were told was in the bag. I do love this place! So maybe it was a one off. Try it for yourself, this is the first time Ive ever had any issue, it may have just been a bad day, or switched owners Im not sure.

The halibut was over cooked and a couple of the chips werent cooked at all. Nothing like when the Clover family owned and operated the place. In those days we visited often and never had a bad meal. I wont be back. My wife warned me but I couldnt believe it. Now I know its awful!!!

Absolutely NO tartar sauce even NONE of their complimentary small tartar sauce packages were in any of our 2 family orders for our lunch celebration yesterday. It marked a negative to our meal. The cod fish batter was also very dry. The family value for your fishnchips were therefore not and whoa expensive! Customer service is poor too as I called your place today. She said that tartar sauce packages are only offered if the customer asks for them because they are hidden behind the counter due to COVID. I disagree. Good customer service for all competitive restaurant establishments should be that basic things like condiments especially tartar sauce for fishnchips should be offered by the restaurant, not to be requested by the customer. Only two-stars , good luck next time!

Had a good experience today. Food was a little slow coming out but they are short staffed. Not going to make that a issue. I want to give a shout out to Rachel my waitress today and she can use this customer review anytime as a customer reference in future job applications. She was very attentive to our tables every need. She was responsive and quick and checked on us at the right times. The level of conversation was perfect and between all this I saw her cleaning tables and looking after a lot of other customers just as good. She made our visit very pleasant and is a absolute asset to C-Lovers. Thank you Rachel.

Huge portion, great costumer service

Ordered fish, prawns and oysters - asked if oysters were available and told yes we have them. Get to the restaurant and was told oh turns out we didn t have oysters so we cancelled your order.

Disappointed. Ordered a 2 PC cod meal with coleslaw and tartar sauce. Picked it up, brought it home - no fries?? Phoned in, the male manager wasnt at all apologetic, said thats what I ordered. Id called the order in and wasnt asked if I was excluding fries....I wonder how often people just order fish? I asked if a fresh meal could be made so it would be all hot and fresh. He very reluctantly agreed. The original fish was brought back, but they insisted we pay an extra 5.25 for the fries. We were told the staff taking the order was new. Mistakes happen but the extra charge means we wont be back.

The price for the AYCE went up in the middle of the year and it s now a bit expensive. They charge tax for bottomless pop even if you don t need it as the AYCE comes with it. Fish was really good, chips were ok.

Ive been there once, everything was good... although we waited quite a long time... Next time we came the service was terrible... We ordered two portions of food... When the child doesnt want to eat anymore the staff says you cant share the portion of food! Although what difference does it make to them if I paid for the food and its my case what to do with it!! I regret that I got to this cafe through the whole city!!! this is my last visit to this cafe!!! The customer pays for your food! Your task is to do everything so customers must be happy . This is the very best fish restaurant I have ever eaten in. The fish is fresh and the batter on the fish and onion rings is very light and crispy, almost melts in your mouth. AMAZING. I will definitely be returning there for a meal!!!
