2918 Glen Dr, Coquitlam, BC V3B 2P5, Canada
Relaxed Japanese spot for signature rolls, classic sashimi & cooked fare, such as tempura & udon.
By far the best food I’ve had! What an experience sitting at the sushi bar. Pai, the owner and chef is amazing. He makes it an event. All the staff is top notch. There’s something to be said about a place that has been here so many years and keeps their staff happy . Will be coming back again!
Their spicy tuna is a must try. On the house crockets and gyozas tasted good too. Would visit again when in town. Service felt a bit rushed although there was only 2 parties present.
Super fast and friendly service! 2nd time here and we ordered the chefs boat and it's so yummy!! such good portions and value for the fresh food, genuinely. They even gave us an on the house appetizer🥹 so sweet
Really had high hopes for this place but left feeling a bit disappointed. We arrived around 8:45 PM, and the service was quite slow, taking 25 minutes to get our meals. The takoyaki was served cold, and our appetizers arrived after the main courses. On the bright side, the sizzling beef and chicken teriyaki, tuna and salmon sashimi, and California roll were all delicious. Unfortunately, we never received our full order as the rice and ice cream never came. Given the high prices and the incomplete order, it was a letdown despite the quality of the food. Hoping they can improve their service because the food itself has great potential.
I do not do this very rarely that I have to write about an experience at a food joint. I am a very well travelled man and had sushi all over north america. This was hands down the best sushi spot I have ever been too, and Im not exaggerating. Go see for yourselves and prove me wrong..
The food was amazing and reasonably priced. The waitress was hospitable, kind, and smart, memorizing all our orders. Highly recommended! Personally, I liked the Rock 'n' Roll dish the most.
I’ve been going to Nagano since I was 16 and a friend introduced me to the restaurant, the atmosphere has never changed in the 7 years I have been there. The service is always friendly, welcoming, and efficient! The manager Susie is absolutely lovely and is amazing at recommendations! Every time my boyfriend and I come here we always have the freshest seafood, and the most attentive service from the staff members. I couldn’t recommend them more! I always bring all my family members and friends here, it’s a personal favourite!
Everything about this sushi restaurant is just amazing. From the moment you walk in, you're greeted with a warm smile and friendly staff. The chef's skills are out of this world, creating beautifully presented and delicious sushi rolls. He even has made his own special rolls on the menu. Pae is number 1. And let's not forget about the manager who ensures that everything runs smoothly. It's clear that they truly care about providing an exceptional dining experience! 🍣😄 absolute favourite spot in BC!!! ❤️ They have private rooms and they provide customer comfort and satisfaction. I would recommend everything on their menu but their moody fever is to die for😍
If this place being here 26 years doesn t tell you to come, then let me tell you, this place is unbelievable! Not only is the food out of this world! The hospitality is second to none! Well worth the uber ride from north van!
The costumer service was great. The waitress was so accommodating. The tempura is great, though: the tuna was not fresh.
I am happy to be able to eat such delicious Japanese food.
The food quality is good and their service is really nice too.
Fresh fish... I think one of my fav places for sushi. Thanks Sooj.
Good sushi and great value
Why tf is 1 Philly roll and 1 Gyoza 29$ !!!!!!RIPPED OFF
The freshest of fresh. Sit at the bar and make friends with Peter and Pae. Amazing food, and the chefs are awesome. They really make you feel like they want to make you happy. Been coming here for decades. Love this place.
Pervert alert. Not safe for female customers
They just can t get a phone order right if their life depended on it. Countless times tried ordering with them only to come home and have the wrong food given to us. Won t be going back.

amazing chef and great quality sushi. Generous potions of fish and welcoming staff
I had an incredible dining experience at this restaurant! The food was absolutely delicious. Every dish was beautifully presented and bursting with fresh, delicate tastes. The atmosphere was also amazing, with a traditional Japanese-style environment that was very cozy. From the décor to the background music, every element added to an immersive and delightful experience. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for an authentic Japanese dining experience!
Big shoutout to the entire staff at Nagano best sushi in the lower mainland with a family friendly vibe and the freshest seafood in town.
Love this place! Always have an awesome time with Mr. Pae
Amazing service, food, and staff
You want to eat sushi, you come here stop looking for other places this is where you should take the girl you like. The Chef is cooking some of the best food on the planet
We have been customers of Nagano for 22 years, and love Mr Pae and his brother! We have enjoyed the service and the freshness and quality of the food that is put out. However, today, the spicy sashimi salad, which we almost always order, had a completely different salad dressing. It was not spicy at all, it was dark and just tasted like pure soy sauce. Very disappointed, as it has now become a hit or miss type of quality and consistency of the food. PLEASE BRING BACK THE PASSION and consistency and quality your loyal and possible new customers enjoy so much!
Very overpriced sushi, it s nothing special there are better sushi places in my opinion this one is just conveniently open at night
Servers are very friendly and attentive. I enjoyed their salmon Toro nigiri, it was sooo fresh
Sushi is unmatched. Nigirs are prime quality
This place is delicious and will definitely satisfy your sushi cravings. Highly recommend this place and the sushi is amazing and atmosphere is nice. Servers were really nice and made the dine in even better. Will definitely be going back very soon!
The food was good, few rolls options. Two drunk men were yelling and being loud at the bar, staff was more participating than trying to contain. Not a fun first experience, not coming back.
Authentic
It was an overall awesome experience. I enjoyed Elvis roll, rock n roll and assorted tempura
Our server Milika was so knowledgeable and helpful with our orders. She went above and beyond. Great service and amazing food. This restaurant has it all. Lively music and has a great vibe. Best sushi restaurant in Coquitlam .10/10
Recently had dinner with friends who used to live and work in Japan . They were very impressed with the quality of the food there . We will definitely come back again.
A bit pricey but food was
Can t even begin to write what a wonderful experience I had here. It s open late at night which helps a night owl like me alot I m a vegetarian so Tess (the nicest server I have ever seen) helped me out alot with making a great choice that would suit my taste buds and preferences. It was so good Loved every bite I took
Loved the sushi rolls! Tried the chicken teriyaki roll and I absolutely loved it.. Tass was a gem to help me decide my order and she is extremely hospitable and gives amazing recommendations if youre here for the first time.. our chef Peter prepared our dish nice and fresh! Kudos to Tass and Peter.. will definitely be back! Vegetarian options: Great vegetarian options as well!
The atmosphere and Service are great but the food is overpriced and the portions seemed small the two times i came, also ordering online tends to lead to some misunderstanding so just be patient
Well priced delicious food, will be back. Good amount of vegetarian options as well.
The texture of salmon sashimi is so rigid. Hard to chew. Bad food soucing.
I ve been coming here for years and the food is always fresh, always delicious and the portions are great! Highly recommend the spicy tuna sashimi, I get it everytime, but never take a photo cause I can t wait to eat it! Also, Susie the waitress is the sweetest! :) Food
Went there at 830 pm when they close at 9pm they would let me order another time at 820pm menu kind of boring couple of nice dishes I liked there menu not for me I seen better on take out feels like your expected to tip to me thats after the meal old school eating dining in whats next tips at Mc Donalds drive thru lol
Super great service! Best sushi I have tried! Great rolls and nigiri!
Good food salmon sashimi was creamy hope you meet tess she is really nice and the food came quick
I went with a couple friends and we tried a variety of dishes and even their most basic California roll was terrible. Their sushi rice was bland and too soft. There were only hints of avocado inside of a roll also we found hair in our food.
Consistent for many years, very clean, the waitress came around and poured my beer Into a glass every time it was running low. I ve never experienced such service and quality anywhere remotely close to Coquitlam. Bravo! Keep up the amazing work! Parking: Free parking at the restaurant and if not, there s the side of the street and huge Walmart parking lot right there.
The older lady at the front desk was very rude and the food was very bad. I asked for extra soya sauce and she told me I can have 2 extra but the rest will cost me money. I was shocked at the mistreatment and I RECOMMEND YOU NEVER EAT HERE EVER!!! THE WORSE SUSHI I HAVE HAD IN OVER 30 YEARS!!!
The service was impeccable. Loved the atmosphere and music in the background. It was some of the best food I have eaten in a long time, and I couldnt recommend it any more
I came here on a Saturday with a large party. This was one of the best sushi places in all of Coquitlam hands down! We recently moved from DT Vancouver and were looking for an Izakaya type of restaurant, they definitely delivered! Highly recommend this restaurant, our favourite dishes were the tuna belly, beef sashimi, ebi mayo, and freshly shucked kushi oysters. The chef was so kind he kept sending us dishes on the house which were also very very delicious! If we had one feedback point it would be to play louder upbeat music to create more of a vibe and attract a younger audience.
If youre in the Coquitlam area, this is the place to go for sushi. Kind staff, nice atmosphere, and delicious food. I usually get a roll combo or a yaki soba, and they are both impeccable for their price! Definitely worth a visit :)
Dishonest practice. I ordered through Uber but Nagano adjusted my total price on their own after I paid. They added a service fee of $4.00 + $ 0.20 (tax) for no reason. How can they charge my credit card without my consent? Avoid this restaurant. It s a scam.
Open late and fresh food!
Nice sushi place
Ive been a customer of nagano for over 12 years and have had their food both in person and through uber. My partner and I (who are both a bit picky with our sushi) consider nagano to be one of the few better sushi joints in the Coquitlam area. The sashimi is fresh, and they dont overpack their sushi with rice. Their food is always a treat for us to look forward to! The staff are also very friendly and easy to approach when we dine-in. Our favorites include the sashimi salad, scallop tobiko roll, and dancing unagi roll, but you really cant go wrong with any of their sushi or sashimi items!
love mr Pae and Suji best food in coq Food
Been there over 25 years Awesome place Food
One of the best sushi rest in town! Mr.Pae is the best host Food is always fresh!! 10 stars!! Food
Delicious food, great service. Very generous portions in the meals and the fish is always fresh. Great place for sushi in Coquitlam. Puts me into a food coma right after.
Great place to come, grab a drink, and relax. Amazing service at the bar and always fun to meet new people. You can never go wrong with Peters recommendations if youre unsure of what to get.
Food is good and service is always warm and hospitable it has been always our go to spot It is a neighborhood gem as far as I can remember The best teriyaki chicken ever Vegetarian options: Veggie tempura is delicious Parking: Big parking lot and other free parking spaces outside the restaurant
Ive found my favorite sushi spot where the sushi is incredibly fresh and delicious. Chef Pae adds a friendly touch, and the late-night hours make the experience even more special. The people there truly make it an awesome place.
I loved the set up of the restaurant food was really amazing, our server Melika gave us amazing recommendation of food and drinks to suite our celebration. I would recommend visiting here specially if you have a large group because they will be able to accommodate that.
Visited Nagano and loved it! The sushi was fresh and delicious, clearly top-quality. Also, our server Melika was amazing - friendly and helpful, making our experience even better. Highly recommend this place for great food and service!
The environment is so friendly!! the food is delicious and fresh and the staff are amazing and always helpful. 100% recommend!!!
It was okay, but we was waiting for sushi for a long time. Its strange that my boyfriend ordered 3 different rolls and they brought it to him more faster than one to me. And why is sour cream in most rolls? Even in ordinary kapa maki. Just weird.
This was our first visit to this restaurant and we will definitely return soon. My husband ordered fried oysters, tuna and salmon sashimi, and seafood ramen. I ordered yaki soba with chicken and gyoza. Since it was my husband first time ordering oysters and he was a bit confused,he received one fresh to taste on the house, which was very nice. We also received 2 additional deep fried tuna pieces- the taste was excellent. We are very pleased with the food, everything was delicious and fresh. We ordered deep fried banana passion with ice cream for the dessert - simple and incredible. Our waitress Vicky took care of us proffesionally. She made us feel like VIP customers Thank you Vicky! The atmosphere was very pleasant. We had so much fun,we forgot to take photos...except for the dessert. We recommend visiting!
Prices have jumped - a lot!! Definitely cant go as often.
My all time favourite Japanese restaurant! Great for friends with large portions and unbelievably delicious food. The tempura was perfect with lots of variety! Amazing green tea! Suji was the best! She recommended a sake that I would have never tried on my own and it was so good! Amazing memories here. I couldnt recommend Nagano higher. Parking: Lots of available parking and Walmart across the street.
This sushi restaurant is the best one in Coquitlam! Delicious food, amazing service, Suji and her staff were very friendly and welcoming! Very cozy atmosphere and so much fun! We had the assorted tempura, avo agedashi, unagi roll, bc roll, takoyaki, wakame, yam roll and silk worm roll. The sake that Suji recommended was excellent too! I love Nagano so much! I will come here every time I come to Coquitlam! Parking: Endless parking
Just a bad experience overall. The server messed up our order even after asking and confirming several times, a very long wait time for anything, and the sushi tasted below average. I also didnt like the music, not suitable for a sushi restaurant at all.
This is one of those neighbourhood places that you want to get to know. The servers will remember you and the chef will surprise you with his personable conversation and willingness to shoot sake. The food yummy, and given the chance/polite request theyll even do custom dishes
Went there to feast on sashimi with a friend for lunar new year. Very friendly staff. Fresh sashimi will come back.
Nagano is the best sushi in town!! Sugi and her team has great food and exceptional service. The fact that they know our regular order and always keep doing nice little things to thank us for the business is a great way to keep loyal customers happy.
Too expensive.
Some very unique menu items
House Roll (5pcs): I liked this roll as it consisted of a mix of salmon and tuna (separate) and the addition of the cooked yam surprised me in a pleasant way. Good sushi, would recommend. Yakitori: the grilled chicken skewers are pretty nourishing. It s a good appetizer. Miso soup: (it s not in the picture) but it s as good as how miso soup should be. Well done. !!On the house!! Vegetarian Kaarage: fried yam! It s very delicious. I appreciate the gesture, Nagano Japanese Restaurant! There s music playing in the restaurant and the atmosphere is great. The hosts and hostesses are nice people. Arigatou!
Best sushi in town
The waiting for the food was extremely unbelievable.
Greatest late night Japanese restaurant. Staff is really friendly here, loved it
very good service
This place has been around coquitlam for decades, the owner / chef is a master of socializing and making delicious food at the sametime. This place closes very late, perfect for authentic japanese food~ I absolutely recommend their negi-fry and the nagano combo (its a steal!)
I highly recommend this sushi restaurant! I have been coming to Nagano Sushi for almost 20 years. In my opinion It is by far the best sushi restaurant in the Tri-Cities. The quality of the sushi is top-notch, as is the service and friendly people working there. The choices on the menu are unique Somethings you can t get anywhere else. I love the lobster roll, the Dragon Roll, Tuna Tataki, Barbecued Black Cod. (melts in your mouth and so delicious) and the Moody Fever Roll, which was created 20 years ago by Mr. Pae himself, the owner and sushi chef. Not only is the food wonderful it s a fun place to be! The other great thing is, they are open until 12:30am. Excellent sushi restaurant!
Just ordered from DoorDash and was super disappointed in what we got. Proteins were hard, dry, and appeared old. Sushi was lacking flavour and also hard. I m not sure if we just got them on a bad night but I wasn t expecting the lack of food quality.
Fish eggs and imitation crab on vegetarian rolls. Had to send food back then next order also had clumps of eggs all over it. Large piece of plastic also found in roll, was told it was a fish scale. Only compensation received was one extra miso soup.
The quality of the rolls where terrible we have ate a lot of sushi in diffrent restaurants and this was the worst.
good customer service good food and good people
The food is very pleasing and the service was excellent i really enjoyed the set up so over all it was a very good experience i would recommend going to nagano if you like Japanese food !
Ordered from Door Dash and the driver only gave us one bag. We asked the driver and they said there was only one bag. We called the restaurant and they told us that they messed up and only handed one of two bags to the dasher. The restaurant called us back 5 minutes later and said that the dasher came up and took the bag and didnt talk to the staff. They lied to us about the pickup situation and offered no support. They only called back to try and play the blame game and deflect responsibility. The rolls (1/2 of the order) that they did give us were poorly constructed and the rolls all fell apart. I might as well use a spoon to eat it. If Im going to spend the extra money to order from Door Dash I wont be using it on this place.
Love love love Naganos Chicken Yakisoba! No other place has even come close to its amazing flavor!! And their sushi/sashimi are very fresh. Friendly & attentive service! Food
Parking: Lots of parking.
Nagano is my favourite restaurant of all-time. So many summer nights spent here with friends.... Nagano combo is where it s at!! ;)
Cant roll a roll. Always comes undone just by looking at it...
The best place in Coquitlam. Amazing food!
The best place on planet earth to get freshest and the most delicious sushi and rolls. Owner of this place is super friendly and always happy to chat. My go-to place of all the times
I think there might be food here
The waitresses didnt come to the table once after we ordered. Theyre lucky the food was killer.
Everything is best, not good, but best, best people best food best atmosphere just the best!!!
Good sushi!
The dine in menu online is outdated, and does not reflect the current prices in store. Nagano combo is posted as 27.99 online but 35.99 in restaurant. The teriyaki sauce is also very sour. Otherwise, everything else is good.
Staff was very friendly and the food was good. It wasn t over the top so only got a 4 out of 5. Still good though. Very clean and pleasant atmosphere.
We ve been regulars to this place more than a decade, and unfortunately are getting more and more disappointed with the services and qualities. I had stopped ordering for quite a while ever since the lady up front put my three bags of takeout on the floor to allow her hands free to take order from another customer.(Gee, we were still having the MHO limitation during that time; we were still having the Covid around and she put my food on the floor!) I didnt complain by that time cause I told myself that it would be the last time I would ever order anything from them. Ok, never say never, so I did make my order again, which led me to this review. It was just a small order of vegetable sushi combo that I didnt think there would be any concern. When my hubby brought home the pickup, it amazed me with the generosity of the combo, which cost me $20. I was hit hard by the inflated food price it represented! The combo consists: 4 pieces of vegetable Maki 2 pieces of rolls stuffed each with a piece of broccoli on top the 6 nigiri veggie pieces are: 1 shiitake 1 broccoli 2 sweet tofu 2 wrapped with carrot and cucumber juveniles that are the exact stuffings of the veggie Maki. If they cannot afford the material cost, please just include 4 with qualities instead of giving out 6 inferior ones! Vegetarian options: It made me feel that vegetarian options are considered at its very minimum
Last night, we had the pleasure of dining at Nagano Japanese for the first time. The restaurant offers a traditional North American Japanese menu with no fusion or modernized dishes, nor any super high-end options. However, the craftsmanship of the food, its presentation, and the exceptionally friendly atmosphere make Nagano Japanese stand out. Our meal consisted of several small dishes that we shared, all of which were expertly prepared with fresh ingredients. The raw seafood, including uni, salmon, toro, fish roes, and tuna, was especially delicious and fresh. But it was the cooked dishes that really impressed us. The fried softshell crab had a thin, crispy batter, yet the crab itself was still tender and juicy. The fried salmon cheeks were also fantastic, with succulent, tender meat clinging to the jaw bones. And the grilled mackerel was cooked to perfection, with crispy, thin skin that was perfectly browned and charred. However, what really made the dining experience memorable was the friendly hospitality of the owner or manager, Susie. She was patient, accommodating, and genuinely made us feel welcome. She made everything great with her personal touches on customer interactions. Its unfortunate that there have been several negative reviews lately, perhaps due to a shortage of qualified staff or an increase in takeout orders. Nonetheless, some of the best dishes we had could only be appreciated when freshly cooked and served straight from the kitchen.
Definitely have had better and more friendly service in the past. Some dishes were not the proper temperature when served. Food
Great sushi rolls and tempura! They were able to accommodate a large table after 9pm no problem. Staff was super attentive. Would go again when I m in this part of town!
is this place still open? heard its being shut down by faser health due to rodents and pests.
I love coming to Nagano Japanese restaurant for their fresh sashimi. Their sushi boat is always delightful and I highly recommend the green tea ice cream. The atmosphere is low key and not pretentious; it s good for families with kids. Kid-friendliness: High chairs and staff are good with children.
Super nice host and fish was fresh and well made.
Zero quality control which is unacceptable, especially since they are serving sashimi. Service was okay but when it was brought to their attention that the sashimi served to us had already gone bad, which we unfortunately had to eat before realizing, they said sorry but did nothing else to fix the situation. Cant help but feel that we came here to just to risk food poisoning & waste an evening. I dont normally write reviews but I was beyond disappointed in my experience here.
Excellent service. Good hot food and a great sashimi. The sashimi is such a good value and I found my favourite place for a sashimi in Tricity. Everything is so fresh every time I visit. I dont doubt they are using fresh ingredients. I have never been disappointed. Great place to alone, with friend and family. I look forward to visit again with my family soon.
Went here for mothers day and they have a patio so I was able to take my dogs with me! I was so happy about that. The food was good, and we had great service.
This was the second time we ate here. First time was in 2018 or 2019. My partner didn t want to come back because he insisted the food wasn t great the last time we were here. I convinced him that every place deserves a second chance, especially after so long! Upon arrival, we were told to seat anywhere we wanted outside as we wanted to be out on the patio. We chose a table far from the other couple that were already eating on the patio (this table wasn t quite clean and was a bit slanted). A few minutes later the server came with the menus and moved us to another table that was level . But this table was not clean either and there were no chairs, so I had to grab my own chair to help the server out. She wiped down the table after we were seated, so 2 dirty tables even though the restaurant was not that busy. There was a sour smell in the patio the moment we sat down (my partner thought it could be dog pee?). No soap in the men s washroom. Strong urine smell in the women s bathroom. We ordered 4 items. The crispy shrimp appetizer with salad and sweet chilli sauce was delicious but would have been better if the sauce was served on the side in case someone doesn t love the dressing. Gomae wasn t crisp/fresh. Considering the higher prices on the menu compared to other Japanese restaurants in the city, we had higher expectations. For the mains, we got the sizzling scallop and the black cod. The dishes didn t arrive together. The sizzling scallops were not really sizzling . There were 2 scallops with some mushrooms and vermicelli on a shell over a candle. It tasted good but the portion was small and it wasn t that special for me to want to try it again. The black cod was charred in some areas and the portion was also small for the price, didn t come with any sides either but at least it tasted good. The sever never came to check on our food or if we needed anything else, only came once to refill the water/tea, and once more, about 5 minutes after we had finished our food to clean the table and bring the bill. She was very nice though. If I only were to rate the food, considering that it was not exceptional and it was pricy, I would conclude that it s a 4/5. But considering everything else, I have to deduct a point (I wish I could deduct half points, in which case I would have rated it 3.5/5, but because google maps only does full points, and I just can t see this place as a 4, then it gets a 3/5). Overall, we are still not impressed , maybe even disappointed a little, and will not be returning. Thank you for having us though.
Love that theyre open late night!
This restaurant got close up notice cause of rodents in kitchen Also if uou Read Fraser health inspection report un sanitary conditions I will never Eat at this dump again 3 times in Fraser Health inspection this dump failed You can Read Fraser Health inspections report in this dump online Very dirty kitchen Never Eat at this dump again
This is THE perfect Japanese restaurant for atmosphere and experience. The staff were awesomely attentive, receptive to our conversation and really went above and beyond with our little group. I highly recommend trying the specials, exploring the dining possibilities. We had so much fun and cannot wait to come back.
I havent been to Nagano in sometime. Service and food hasnt changed its still fantastic. I have to make sure to eat their more often. Awesome! I rarely give 5 stars.
Always thrilled with the food and the service. Rocky Point Roll and Blue Fin tuna sashimi were excellent tonight!
Best sushi restaurant ever! Amazing service. Amazing food. Great prices! Love this place
My boyfriend and I have been a regular customer for over a year now, we go every weekend not only because of the delicious and fresh sushi/food but most importantly the best crew ever! Mr. Pae is the most generous chef you ll ever meet, he and the rest of his staff treats their customer extremely well, the friendliest, the most welcoming crew ever. We always sit at the bar and Mr. Pae would always surprise us with free food, he would also cook any requests i ll ask which i d never experienced somewhere else, coming here feels more like eating with our family. :) Vegetarian options: Mr. Pae (the main chef) will make any food requests for his customer. :)
This place use to be awesome but the food is really gross now. Tried to give it another chance after hearing about the health and food violation issues this place had a few months ago. NOPE! Food tasted like sad socks. I ordered a chicken teriyaki donburi that tasted like it was heated in a microwave and had random noodles in it which made me suspect I was served someones leftovers. The miso soup had a strange sour flavour and the sushi was subpar. Not sure what happened to this place, I wont be ordering from here again !
Best sushi in town.
Best sushi place in the Tricities. We have been coming here for years and the quality and service is consistently exceptional. Everyone there is incredibly nice and friendly. Food
I have given this place like 4 chances, every time the food and service just gets worse and also more and more expensive with no quality improvements, place looks not too clean. Much better places at a lower price than this. Used to be great but never coming back.
Nice little Japanese place in Coquitlam. Decent variety and generous portions. The server was friendly.
Love the rolls here. Always fresh and delicious. Parking can be challenging as in a small busy square. Suggest you park in Walmart lot and walk over Little dark inside due to lack of windows but Ill return for great food. Vegetarian options. accessible. Staff is always friendly. Food
Food are good, excellent services
Everything about Nagano is amazing (:
Always super friendly service and amazing food!!!
Cute spot but poor customer service. I requested for a gluten free teriyaki dish, the waitress ensured it was gluten free. When I got my order I found flour based noodles in my dish, which was not gluten free (noodles was not even mentioned on the menu). I am extremely allergic to gluten. When I brought it to the waitress attention, she changed the order (after I took a bite of my food, but did not apologize, or offer a discount. And I had to wait another 15 minutes for my food again. :(
They used to be better. The food has gone downhill in terms of quality and taste. It s edible but there are better options in town.
The atmosphere and experience are absolutely amazing. Highly reccomend sitting at the bar, the food and how its served is incredible Food
We had the Spicy Chirashi Don for tea and we were blown away with the quality, quantity, and price. Highly recommended.
Normally, I dont leave negative reviews unless my experience was really bad. But wow... was it bad... The first issue is the price. A combo meal ranges from 27 - 35 without including tax, which is already expensive. Okay... if it tasted good, I wouldnt have mind that much. But my partner and I literally had to force ourselves to eat the sukiyaki and teriyaki combo as they were practically inedible. I honestly havent eaten in a restaurant where I had to force myself to eat until now. Also, the presentation of the food was extremely lackluster. It didnt even look like a 27 dollar meal. The second issue was the service. They got our order wrong. We had to explain to them that we were ordering 2 meals so they had to go and check the order again, and we had to wait another 10-15 mins. Our two meals were supposed to come with 2 rice. But they only served one. At that point, we were already finished and wanted to get out of there asap. We asked them if they could discount the combo and they said there was nothing they could do. We also felt quite neglected in terms of service. The servers didnt check up on us often to see if we were missing anything. On the other hand, it is possible to argue that their sushis are their main selling point. I cannot comment on that since I have not tried it myself. However, selling the combos at such a high price for their horrendous taste and quality should not be tolerated. In the end, because of my extreme dissatisfaction on my experience here, I am writing to inform everyone that there are better restaurants to spend your money on. Other places more affordable and with better quality. I definitely regret coming here but if you do decide to try it out, good luck and I hope you have a better experience.
Our server was so so sweet and helpful. The edamame was on the house, and it was good! So that was awesome. My meal was lacklustre: the gomae was saturated in peanut sauce meanwhile the maki roll had almost nothing in it making it almost too dry to eat. I was told by the people I was with that their meals were decent/good. One had a house roll which was ok & they liked the gyoza. The other had chicken teriyaki and said they quite enjoyed it.
Im visiting BC from Ontario and my host and I came here for supper on a Wednesday. First time for both of us. The dining area is very simple and very clean, with booths screened from one another for privacy. We were greeted immediately and shown to our booth. We ordered a few dishes to share, both sushi and cooked food, as well as some green tea. The waitress was very gracious and friendly and made sure to explain that some of the dishes ordered contained possible allergens (not an issue for us). The food arrived quickly and it was plentiful. It was also delicious! We both thoroughly enjoyed every single thing. The waitress checked in with us just the right amount, refilling our tea as needed. When the bill came, I was very pleasantly surprised by how reasonable it was, given the very good quality and generous servings. As we were paying, the waitress asked if we had enjoyed our visit and hoped we had, as she was new and in training. We assured her we had and that the service was top notch. My only regret is that Im going home soon, because if I lived here, this restaurant would be in my top three of go-to places.
23 dollars for such a small portion of the spicy salmon sashimi. Dont recommend. Dont waste your money. So disappointed. Id rate 0 stars. Piss me off.
Friendly people and great food. Weve been going here for years and the quality has not wavered. Thank you so much
My favorite Japanese restaurant in the neighbourhood! the food is always fresh and well made, kudos to Peter! and every time we we visit we always feel so welcomed :) highly recommend!
Amazing staff and sushi! Been coming for years and years!
We had the tuna tataki, assorted tempura, and the brown rice dynamite roll. Every dish tasted great and we had amazing service from our waitress Vicky. Next time we want to try the brown rice dynamite roll again, dragon roll, BBQ tuna, and yakisoba
I like everything here. I can recommend this restaurant for everyone who are looking for special atmosphere and family/friendly staff. Thank you for hard work!
Always a great time at Nagano! The food is always fresh and hot, the staff are so kind and its always a clean table. Its our go to for date night
A wonderful place where the owner of a Japanese restaurant spends a long time with customers, and the traces of that are left behind. The atmosphere and the sashimi, rolls, and tempura tempura were amazing!
I want to give a huge shoutout to Vicky, our server, at Nagano! She was amazing, very hospitable, and presented amazing service. The food was great. 13759596/10 recommend
Very good, amazing, superb, fantastic
I dont know what happened to this place. Did the owner change???? The food is over priced, portions are small, food came out staggered by the time last person s meal came out, rest of us were done. This used to be my go to place, we wont be back
Delicious, reasonably priced, beautiful environment, good service
Dietary restrictions: We chose the brown rice option for our teriyaki chicken bowl and it was awesome! Food
Everything was perfect
Came by this sushi place on a rainy day and decided to give it a try. The food brings sunlight to a gloomy day. I ordered the Chirashi Don, the fish are very fresh, a variety of selection and portion is decent. From the food I can feel that the chef really cares about the quality and his craft. The service lady is very nice and kind. Will definitely visit again. : )
Very holy place
This is the first time I ve ever written a bad review and but this restaurant is very unsanitary. I first visited nagano last winter with a group of friends, we all were disgusted by the fact that all five of our cups came with food particles suspended in the water. Not all super tiny or anything, like fully visible if you look at your drink before drinking. A year later, I visit again thinking maybe it s a one time incident- exact same thing. Im not very picky but this is disgusting. The sushi is very overpriced tbh, it s okay but not amazing. Service is great tho and restaurant has an average atmosphere imo. Also I looked their record up on Fraser health and they have concerning violations, rodent droppings near sushi prep, food not properly covered/protected and more. Gross gross gross
What a great experience! Very delicious and satisfying food. It really did brighten the day to eat here :)
BC roll, dynamite roll, dragon roll, gyoza, tempura, and katsudon are some of the foods that we really liked
Its spot prawn season, you must try the Spot Prawn sushi w the deep fried head
Sashimi was really good. One of the few places where you can get it without it being rubbery.
So ... weve been today after work. Half full. Not really busy. AC was on and we were freezing despite the hoodie. We ordered menu. Miso soup was at best warm ... or cold. The sunomono was straight out of the fridge and was really cold ... but good ! The curry was good but we had to send it back as it was cold in the middle and hot on the edge. I would guess that the microwave was not working properly? After that, weve been waiting for at least 20 minutes for the dessert which we reminded the waitress of ... that we never received. So we just paid and left. We might have been unlucky but it was a really unpleasant moment ...
Good food, and the ambiance is so welcoming. Pei (not sure about spelling) is the owner, and sushi chef. He is personable, and really friendly. I asked for Asahi Dry Black, which they didnt have. He said he will start stocking it again. I came back a few weeks later, and they actually had it!!! Pei is a cool guy. The staff at the restaurant is friendly and accommodating. Overall good vibes at this place. It is my go to place for take out, but also when I want to have sizzling scallops, and a beer. I usually go during dinner time, but they are also the only place open, late at night.
Trash, server completely forgot 2 items until I reminded them. Says sorry for the wait 20 minutes later. Was it busy? No, we were the only ones dining in...??
We came here when the dragon roll was magnificent. It was also 12.95 in 2005; which was a lot of money back then when a roll was 3.25. It used to be a large roll with lots of caviar and eel sauce that you could easily share one between 2 people as a snack. We came in today and ordered it and there was hardly had any caviar on the roll and Unagi sauce and no mayo. It was good tasting though although not very big rolls for 18.99 We also had the Rocky Point Roll which was real crabmeat topped with scallop and caviar. The 6 pieces were large but it lacked sauce and did not have much flavour. 17.99 We also had the House Roll which was very tasty and a good size; a deal at 7.99 We ordered the deep fried banana with ice cream which was 2 scoops of ice cream over pieces of deep fried banana drizzled with chocolate sauce. It was lovely. I was irritated when the price on the menu was 9.99 but when the bill came it was 10.99. So I mentioned it to the waitress and she said she would fix it. But then another woman came to tell me they havent changed the menu because it costs too much to make up new menus. I responded with, well just put a little sticker with correct price on the menu. The kicker is she did not offer to correct my bill which surprised me. Needless to say, I was not impressed. The quality of the food is good overall. Its just the special rolls were rather expensive for the size of the sushi rolls.
The experience with this place has been great for many years until yesterday. I ordered several dishes for dinner guest from Nagano Sushi since this place is well known for quality dishes. And even though it is a bit pricey, but worthwhile based on how they deliver dishes to customers. However, the quality of roll I received yesterday was terrible as I posted. I talked to a staff over the phone and sent them photos of rolls. The staff told me they can credit back just for negitoro roll only out of $170 of orders. The staff also mentioned all other rolls were looked ok for them. I wasnt happy how they come back with their product since I know how their plates usually look like. I also was surprised that they are proud with theses roll presentation. It was definitely I did not get what I paid for , and I need to consider other options for my next sushi plates.
I been coming here since day one and Ive never had a bad meal. Food has always been great.
Its really so delicious... .It s not as good as the sushi you buy at T&T. It s so tasteless that you wonder if you have to pay to eat it Its really bad
Bad service, order was wrong. Parking: More parking.
We have decided to dine in again after ordering from them several times for take out. The experience and food quality was way more better than we expected. We ordered a captain combo which it came with assorted sashimi, a dragon roll and a tepanyaki tuna, which the chef came placed the fresh tuna on the iron plate. Just by looking at the placement of the food on the plate, you can tell the chef is very careful of making the food. The sashimi taste very fresh and the dragon roll also taste very flavorble. The unagi on the top of the roll was grilled with light sauce. We also ordered a zaru soba which it came with two rolls of cold noodle with ice cubes on the side and inside the bowl of cold noodle sauce. Perfect for the summer heat. The noodle sauce tastes light but great during summer if youre craving for light food. I dont recommend the salmon and Kani tempura from the appetizers side the kani was made from artificial kani, not the fresh one. However, it still taste great. Overall the food quality is amazing and I do recommend to dine in the restaurant for better food quality. Take out might be a bit risky as some rolls may not be well prep. I will not recommend their rolls. Personally I think the chef is profession in making fine dined dishes.
Great Food and Great Service. Vegetarian options: Menu has a variety of options Parking: Street Parking and Parking lot
Good food, good service.
Great food and prompt service!!
Very fresh sushi, affordable dishes, good presentation.
A little night owl secret in coquitlam... this is one of the few restaurants with gteat food open till 1 am. So the great sushi, teriyaki and other Japanese deliciousness are a staple food for those of that like the mid night snack.
Nice cozy place with friendly staff.Food was upto mark
Incredibly disappointed. We ordered the silk worm roll: chopped scallop roll with amaebi wrapped with avocado. An ordinary chopped scallop roll is $7.99 (already pricey). But the silk worm roll, with the addition of a TINY piece of amaebi (which we couldnt find and had to ask if they forgot it) and avocado is a whopping $18.99. Also, their menu stated that one piece of ikura nigiri is $4.50, but they charged us $5.50. I understand inflation is a thing, but update your menus and stop deceiving customers. The rice also tasted like someone dumped cologne in it...tasted very weird. The only saving grace was the ika nigiri was good. Do not come here if you have a choice.
Best sushi in Coquitlam hands down.
Love it
I usually order from this place several times a month but I got my regular favourite today and I m super disappointed at the difference in quality. It was a watery mess with no sauce and the chicken was not like I normally get it. Very disappointing and not sure I will be risking this again,
Great place. Good service. Friendly environment. Clean place. Just a great place to have sushi and sashimi dish. Love this place.
Good
I am taking back my 5 star review! The last three orders were disgusting. Sushi were tasteless!
Wow! This raises the bar for quality of sashimi and Japanese food. The service was friendly and the food was top notch. I had dishes I didn t know existed. Herring with roe and sizzling scallops were new experiences for me and I loved them. I will definitely be coming back and bringing my husband for a deli shoots date night. Parking: Strip mall parking with several spots open on a Tuesday night.
Yummy sushi and friendly staff.
my absolute go-to spot when i m in coquitlam! service is so friendly and sushi is delicious. our waitress recommended the uni and it was incredibly fresh and tasty. portions are generous and completely worth the price. will be back for sure!!
A go-to Japanese place in the area. Despite the difficulties in the restaurant industry and the challenge of inflation, the high quality of their food and serving sizes have stayed the same.
I picked up an order of Teriyaki chicken. Went to eat it and the chicken was still pink. I didnt want to risk getting sick so I didnt eat it. I called the restaurant and they said I could bring it back but I wasnt able to get back there. They said they were too busy to deliver another order to me and just to microwave it. What a waste of $15.
One of my favourite sushi places in the area if not my favourite. The food is always incredibly fresh and tasty, and the service is extremely helpful and friendly! Ask your server if you are unsure what to get, all of their recommendations have been phenomenal. Pictures include, Kani Sake, the house roll, the cali fry roll, and a special blue fin tuna tataki.
It was the first time my boyfriend and I went to this place and we loved it! The sushi was so fresh and the customer service was very friendly. Will come again!
Food was excellent and extremely fresh! The staff was very friendly and made for a very enjoyable experience. I highly recommend
The must-try copious marbling Wagyu Beef. The luxurious buttery tenderness of this special beef will make your Nagano visit extra special!
We Love the food here
I ordered peanut crunch roll and it was literally drained in teriyaki sauce, it makes all my sushi so sweet.
My go to favorite sushi place (Sushi Koo) was closed today so I decided to try Nagano sushi. Sushi was poorly made, dry rice and beef teriyaki was old, dry and tasteless. The gyoza and agadashi tofu were good though, but that s it. Would not order from here again, and will stick with Sushi Koo instead.
My first time ever eating here and it was amazing, the food tasted so fresh and such nice workers, definitely will be coming here again
Haven t had Nagano in a while so I decided to get takeout for the family. The quality of the food is still there but portion sizes have shrunk from before. They also seem to charge slightly higher prices than other Japanese restaurants in the area.
