Open late, refreshing food, wonderful company.

I am surprised they are not rated higher. Their rice is seasoned and cooked beautifully! The fish is fresh and tasty. Absolutely loved it!

*edit* my old review below was for the previous owners. Since new ownership, prices increased 40% and did not taste as good. This WAS my favorite sushi place that I visited once a week. Ive since gone only once to try, and not been back. Sorry guys. Only knocking new prices. Ordered 3 rolls and 1 udon. The staff wasnt bad. However, while eating udon, a hair came out. It was shocking. I didnt tell the staff, but I will never eat here again. The food and memories were the worst.

Disappointing Experience as Delivery Driver at Sushi Koo I had an unfortunate and frustrating experience at Sushi Koo. As a full-time teacher who does delivery as a side hustle with food delivery apps in the Coquitlam area, I rely on the cooperation of restaurants to do my job efficiently. Tonight, I was assigned to pick up an order from Sushi Koo, and when I politely asked if I could use the restroom before picking up the order the staff member refused. I ve worked with countless restaurants, and I ve never encountered a refusal to let delivery drivers use the bathroom. It was not only inconvenient but also disheartening to be treated this way, especially since delivery drivers play an essential role in keeping these businesses running smoothly and delivering the food. Because of this negative experience, I will never accept an order from Sushi Koo again. If a restaurant can t show basic respect to the people delivering their food, I can t in good conscience recommend them. It s a real disappointment, and I hope they reconsider how they treat the people helping them succeed.

I just pick up for door dash at this location and they told me i was 17 minutes early and on my dasher app it says pick up at 8:03 pm which is the exact time i got there. The server was so rude and was mad that i was on time for the pick up. I asked if i can go to the washroom and she wAs so rude about it and said no.I got the order quickly i dont know why she s so upset about be coming at the time doordash told me to be there. Dont recommend this place especially if the servers are rude.

I had a fantastic experience at Sushi koo :) The staff was incredibly friendly and attentive, making me feel right at home. The sushi was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, perfect for any occasion. Highly recommend for delicious sushi and great vibes.

It use to be my favourite place. I don t know what happened but my last order made on aug 11 was just bad! Gomae salad 1 star! Agidashi tofu 1 star. Alaska, House and red dragon roll even less than 1. Very disappointed. Sorry.

Honestly if youre gonna keep a name of business you should keep what made that company popular. Would have been so easy to make a happy combo and thrived but instead this place is always empty. Weve ordered a couple of times now and its just meh. What a wasted opportunity.

The restaurants under new management. We went to the previous one at least once a week or more. The food was good at the previous one. The new one is even better. Its a little priceier compared to the old one. Totally understand. Service is outstanding. The only downside is very limited selection.

Incredibly disappointed today - my partner and I have gone to this restaurant for years and always loved their food, service and prices. I came today to eat lunch and was greeted by a changed menu and an empty restaurant at dinner time on a weekday. When I noted the changed menu to the server, she responded You can leave if you want . I used to order their happy combo all the time and asked her if this was still available. She responded No, the menu has changed . I saw their prices had also increased significantly and no combos for single diners were offered. I stood up to leave without complaint and the server shouted after me Yeah, it s been six months! while smirking. I think this encounter speaks for itself and we will not return. Shameful behavior.

Not sure what the deal is with Sushi Koo. Despite being labelled open, online my husband went in person to place a takeout order and it was closed. Also, the website will indicate that they are available to order through UberEats, Skip, etc., when you actually go on to check they are never available. Are they actually open anymore?

UPDATE: Sushi Koo was bought by new management maybe back in December 2023. Since it changed over to new management, it was maybe open for one or two days and prices changed to be exorbitant and does not resemble the previous sushi Koo at all. This place must be just for money laundering. Online, it looks operational leading to people going there, only to find out in person the doors are always locked and lights off. Its basically just CLOSED indefinitely. ----------------- Old management - no longer relevant: Best sushi place in Coquitlam centre. The lunch bento boxes are great value and always fresh. The aburi is so tasty and its been my go to place for sushi in the area! I have done both take out and dine in, both were good.

Updated review: (new management) 3* I ve decided to give them a try when they reopened with new management. Staff was friendly and told us it was new management and new menu. So my wife and I tried it by ordering some old favourites and new rolls. Unfortunately we weren t impressed via the dishes. Oshi had way too much rice, way too thick. My wife ended up trimming the rice portion and enough for a plate full of rice. We ordered 2 different ones so I ended up being so full from rice. Rolls were decent. Tried toro tatami roll, it s good. A bit rice dense but the flavor was good. Salmon roll was alright. Unagi Dragon was alright. Cali roll is like close to 8 dollars (at which point I rather get an Alaska roll at Sushi California/Town) Nigiri, a bit pricy when basically 4.40 a pc. Prices definitely higher by a lot for the expected customer base. This used to be my go to once a week (take out or dine in), but can t do the same for the new management. If I feel like a Donburi, I might go back. OLD MANAGEMENT 5* Its back post poco fire incident, Still a place of great value. The seating is now a bit tighter than before. Food is great. Offering Aburi Oshi and Aburi Nigiri with great value. The beef tataki is where its at. Order that every time.

With new management, everything changed even the price is more expensive. I don`t go there anymore and will miss the awesome roll, my favorite one.

Is this business closed? Every time I call recently no one picks up the phone. Also the prices are too high now, even Shio sushi which is higher quality has lower prices, and its on the same block.

EDIT NEW: After new management, everything has changed. All the good specialty rolls and the a lot of the menu has changed and all of it is gone. It will be missed. New prices are extremely high compared to previous pricing. It is now even higher pricing than higher quality alternatives like Kai in Poco. Portions are bigger but taste is worse. The menu is also very unoriginal. No actual katsu don which was my favourite. No reason to go anymore. Im definitely not the only one disappointed. OLD: I go here all the time, but i just recently realized how special this place is. Price/quality and value wise, there is literally no better place than here. Everything is so freaking affordable and good. Im a native Japanese person and the food here is just no complaints. I cant spend a fortune on sushi all the time but honestly the value here is unbeatable. Kai in poco are good but farther away and significantly pricier. Non of the food here is ever smelly because they are too busy for anything to get old. Idk why the rating is a 4 because this place is at least a 4.5. super grateful they exist. Hope they never close.

It used to be our favorite sushi place, the staff was always friendly and the food was so good and prices very affordable. Unfortunately the owners changed, the whole menu changed and the prices skyrocketed! I was shocked! We went last week and we didnt know, the place was empty which was super strange. Once I looked at the menu, I asked the server and she confirmed they sold the place. I told her we used to love the place, etc and she didnt seem happy. Basically took the menus away and told us to leave if we wanted to. I wasnt gonna leave but it was definitely going to be out last time there. She just saved us some money with her attitude. We went down the street to Sushi California.

Lived in the area for 3 years and been going to Sushi Koo as my go to place. Lots of big party orders done throughout and recommended all my friends to go here as well Unfortunately with the new management, everything has changed. People are arguing about pricing and portions, but everybody who actually went there knew that the Happy Combo was truly the one thing that drove the success of Sushi Koo. For the prices that you are paying now, I would much rather go elsewhere to get much higher quality food. Good thing there are alternatives around the area. Sushi Koo will be missed for sure! I went there for dinner and found out they were under new management. From what I ate, I thought the food was pretty good. Unfortunately, I do feel like Nigiri is abit overpriced. 1 salmon Nigiri for 3.75? (2 per order so really 7.5$) Other then the price though, everything was great. Great atmosphere and great customer service

Like others, we have been regulars at Sushi Koo for years and were willing to give them a try after the new ownership. The service level is about the same and I can t speak for quality of a lot of their dishes due to the fact that we are vegan and have very limited choices off the menu. From what we have had the rolls have been good but the suonomono was subpar. The price increases are the most shocking. I did see another review about this and the owner made the following comment our prices reflect on the quality of the food, the increased portions and it also reflects on the average prices around the neighborhood. I was curious enough to look for myself at prices from surrounding restaurants of a basic avocado roll: New Sushi Koo =$7 Shio = $5.95 Hakone = $4.25 Nagano = $3.49 The quality and portion size for this roll is the same at it always has been, so I thought this would be a good gauge on the price increases alone. Take with that what you will.

This used to be my favourite sushi place because they were great prices and great quality. This place has gone downhill in a matter of weeks since new management. No more happy combos, oshi sushi doubled in price, no flavour, soggy agedashi tofu. So, so sad :( also I miss the old staff. Why ruin a good thing that was working? Edit: I noticed a comment on here that said people never reviewed sushi koo when it was doing well. And that is not true. I actually had given them a 5 star review but have since deleted it due to the change in management.

New Sushi Koo Review update, January 2024: visited the revamped Sushi Koo under new ownership with an all-new staff and menu. Despite the larger portions (who wants to make sushi in two bites or jam a massive piece of fish in your mouth?), the trade-off between better value and taste is noticeable. The rice tends to fall apart, leaving the overall experience falling short of the excellent sushi we remember. On a positive note, the standout was the friendly server. New after change in management: Not really sure why they decided to keep the name sushi koo but everything else is different. The rolls arent as good and arent as fresh as the place before. The service was okay but wasnt like the old place. The prices have drastically increased and there is no more happy combo which im sure everybody went for. Overall there are better spots in the area for better prices. Not bad but really not good either. This cute little spot on glen is a really good and affordable place to eat. If you love sushi but dont want to break the bank I definitely recommend here. They have a combo called the happy combo which is only $15.95 and you can choose 3 items from the list they provide. I usually get the toro sashimi, chicken kaarage, and the spicy salmon roll. The chicken kaarage comes with a lot so it is very worth it to order it if you are into the fried chicken. The sushi is fresh and its always busy inside especially with take out. The location is fairly small with only 5 tables inside so I do recommend ordering it from their website. All in all a great place to eat :)

Returned to this place after 8 months and its still fantastic. Prawn tempura was done nicely. Ordered bc blazer, summer, spider and a few other special rolls and they were all very good. Sauce was well balanced. Avocado was perfect texture. Oishi was ok only. The rice felt a bit mushy. Would still return.

This place has ruined me for any other sushi place, by far the best sushi around. When we have gotten sushi from other places because sushi koo is closed, I have always been left disappointed. Literally decided to review because this happened just the other day and im still mad about how sub par the other sushi was and my wife and I just lamented all night. Eagerly awaiting the staff to return from (a much deserved) break so we can enjoy sushi again.

My wife and I have frequented this place several times. Recently we ordered three bento lunch box meals hoping for delivery as we had my BIL at the house. They don t offer delivery until 4pm so my wife had to pick it up. Once home we found the meat/seafood portions to be half their eat-in sizes. We called to let them know we were disappointed and were given lame excuses that prices had gone up - we just had this same lunch box twice within the same week and no forewarning so I call BS. The server said, after much discussion, that once their delivery driver came on shift at 4pm they would send another serving of the salmon to rectify the issue and the restaurant would call us to arrange this. 7pm rolls around and we call the restaurant to find out what s happening. Lily Chen, the manager , tells us the person we talked to has I don t know I think she run away and if this server agreed to deliver then she can come after her shift and cost of food and gas will come from her own money. The people here don t know how to run a business. This place has lost 2 regular customers for good. EDIT: the food to rectify the situation never was delivered, no offer to make good on their shortfall was made and we never heard from the original server.

First time trying Sushi Koo and I was very pleased with the experience. I took advantage of the Happy Combo (I think thats the name) Any 3 items from the list for under $20. I ordered a California Crunch roll, Dynamite roll & Yam Tempura roll and they were delicious! Plus free Miso Right price, tasty rolls, attentive service and nice decor. If youre in the neighborhood give them a go

Really cute small Japanese tea restaurant with delicious food. Right away we were greeted by a nice server who was very quick with our orders and bringing our food out. I had the chicken teriyaki box with sashimi. I love my chicken teriyaki crispy and this place did an excellent job. The sashimi pieces were also nice and thick and tasted fresh. Would come back again!

I ate here twice and I have to say their combos are very reasonably priced, definitely good value for good quality food. The service is also pretty good, the food gets to you quickly even when the place is busy and they have many online orders. Its a small restaurant, so its not the place where you would go for sushi with your extended family.

This is a family business if you know then you know. Food like home cooked food and not very industrial operation. If you want other experiences go to mcds drive through. This is the go to neighbourhood sushi joint when you crave it. Good food good price . Ps Ive made and sold all types of food including sushi. So go for it but dont expect a burger from drive through nor royal accommodations. This is our neighbourhoods spirit

Sushi rolls and bento boxes were so good and very fresh! Price is reasonable and portions are great with inflation now. I gave specific instructions on my daughters order and she did not have any allergic reaction.i also made a few other requests and when I came to pick up, everything was ready. I am a skil driver and I have been picking here alot lately compared to other sushi places so I tried it finally and it didnt disappoint California rolls were one of the best I have had nigiri is beautiful and good miso soup.

This review is about soya sauce in most sushi restaurants. I used to love sushi but now I dont eat it anymore because the soya sauce that comes with it is very sugary these days which change the sushi taste and I dont like it. They should have regular or sugary soya sauce options for costumers.

Love this place. Especially the spicy tuna roll (has crunchy bits that add the perfect texture). Its a family establishment that excels in food quality and customer service. This is our go-to for both takeout and dine-in in the Tri-cities.

When I saw KOO, I thought they were Korean and went in, but they turned out to be Chinese. The food tastes okay, but.... I saw an employee in the cashier serving delivery food was isolating the ingredients that the customer requested from the fried rice with his bare hands. Good service to some people and rude to others, why is that?

I usually order takeout (only dined here once, and ordered through delivery apps a couple of times) but I m always happy coming here with every experience. Compared to other places, the prices are very reasonable for the amount/quality, and the food is to my personal liking. Servers are straightforward, but friendly. Even some of the chefs will occasionally greet you. However, I did notice some tables to be a bit unstable. But it s not to the point where food will slide off it easily, and feels like it would be easy to fix since it felt minor. Love the Happy Combo in particular since you can choose 3 items you want + miso soup, which is great for people like me who like to switch up certain items at times. Awesome Roll is my fave specialty roll! I haven t found an item in particular that I dislike so far. Definitely my go-to sushi place. Have been a regular here for a while now, and plan to keep it that way.

Ordered some rolls via SkipTheDishes for the first time, some of rolls like house rolls, Cali rolls and negi toro roll came all stale and hard. Not fresh. I think they make some of popular rolls in advanced. Price is decent but I don t think I ll order again given there are so many good sushi options everywhere.

You have to pay more for spicy mayo on a deep fried California roll, when it originally comes with ispicy May in the recipe. Never been charged until now, very disappointed. Terrible service, do better.

Lady threw my food on the table when I asked for spicy mayo on my deep fried California roll, never experienced any type of behaviour from this restaurant until now. A deep fried California roll has always came with spicy mayo until this new employee tried charging me for it?? Busy orders but, ...

I got my order delivered, and it was prepared and shipped out extremely fast. It tasted absolutely delicious! Might I recommend the Canada Roll with purple rice.

I had a sushi party tray, it wasnt bad, it was fresh BUT I had a sushi party tray a couple of weeks ago at Sushi Fu in Port Coquitlam, the same price and its quality and variety was much better, the type of sushi they had there was very exciting, I gave them a 5 star so i guess for sushi Koo it should be a two star, to be fair.

By far the best bang for your buck, and wonderful friendly staff! Best spicy tuna roll in the area! Highly recommend for takeout during Covid times, they don t take long to prepare.

Frequently visit Sushi Koo Coquitlam on Glen Dr as it is close to work and has a great menu. Excellent food and average prices. I recommend the Happy Combo for value. Would definitely continue dining here.

Picked up Sushi Koo for the first time last night. The order did not take long, and the food was great. Good portions too. Among other things, tried the Cuke Maki and Canada Roll from the Chefs Recommendations...delicious. Ill be back for sure.

Good quality and ok prices. They are often very busy so make sure you order well in advance of when you are eating. Waited 45 mins for my order the other day.

Nice small restaurant located coquitlam. Great friendly service and the price is just right. The food is ok. The portion is good. You can order ahead if you dont want to wait. They get pretty busy during lunch.

Rude and extremely unreliable. It took over 2 and half hours to get the delivery. Much much longer than expected time. Expected time was 1 hour when I ordered. Also when I asked for the status of my order, they just said wait and hung up on me.

Best sushi hands down, I live in poco and love this restaurant. I am addicted to miso soups and there is close to terditional actually has tofu. Plus they kept there dynamite rolls simple and didnt pump crab meat into it as a California roll. I dumped my last sushi place because they were putting it in everything totally ruins the way sushi is.

Its a tiny sushi place which is right on the glen drive so easy to locate and access. They are always super busy with take outs n pick up but you can sit and enjoy the hospitality with same service excellence. Our experience- The servers understand and speak english and so feel free to ask for suggestions. They gave us time to choose n settle in before the order was asked. Our food- Me and my friend first had warm sake as it was raining outside. Sooooo good Then we started with toco maki which is my favourite appetizer and it was so well presented. Followed by sushi rolls platter . One was dynamite rolls n cone and another was special in house. Great flavours.

This is subjective. For what I order, its great. Beef teriyaki is good not too sweet or salty. I love the chicken karaage. Sushi is fresh as well. Rice is not as vinegary as some other places, personal preference. They have always been friendly to me and the family.

Good sushi

Weve been gong to and now ordering from Sushi Koo for over 2 years. They are very affordable and delicious too! Every Sunday we order take out from them, they have their own delivery service so you dont pay extra fees and mark-up you normally do with Skip the Dishes or UberEats.

Name a place with a better salmon sashimi don. I doubt you can come up with it.

The food tastes so good. Nice and cozy atmosphere. No offence but I personally feel like the tofu tariyaki here tastes so much better than sushi towns.

Our FAVORITE sushi restaurant in the Coquitlam / Port Moody / Port Cooquitlam area! Fell in love with the BC Roll, Chicken Udon noodle soup, Spicy Salmon Sashimi, and all of their food in general has been a hit no matter what youre in the mood for. Excited to try more of their dishes because everything hits the spot and is quite stress relieving from the deliciousness-gasm. Love it :)

This is the place to be after sushi town increased their prices and lowered their quantity.

I love sushi koo a lot! Its been me and my girlfriends favorite sushi place for a long time. The prices are cheap and the quality is amazing!! Please never change Sushi Koo.

Good food, good price and friendly staff

I wanted to support the restaurant by ordering delivery from them directly but I had a HORRIBLE experience where I waited more than 1.5 hours ONTOP of the estimated delivery time of half a hour for my food. In other words, I got my delivery 2 hours later and only after TWO phone calls to check on our order. What was even worse was that the restaurant tried to throw their own delivery person under the bus by saying they were waiting for him to come back to deliver our order. Our food of course came cold but not what the restaurant claims was due to the courier (that wouldve meant our food was prepared and sat on the counter for 1.5 hours). Our phone calls to the restaurant was met with excuse after excuse and it really sounded like we were given the run around each time... as if they forgot our order until we called the first time (when our order was already half a hour late). At the second phone call (now a hour after the estimated delivery time) we were given the excuse that the delivery man left half a hour ago and they cant explain why it was late. We live 5 minutes from the restaurant by car so it was a plain lie that the courier couldve taken 30 minutes and still wasnt at our place. What a horrible experience. We ended up getting cold food and will never be ordering from sushi koo again.

I keep forgetting to call in advance so sometimes I will walk by on my lunch time and if theyre not too busy, I place my order, I never have to wait long, and it is always fresh. I appreciate the staff, they are so friendly and the server lady suggested me to try salmon oshi, so it was some of the best that Ive had here!! The sashimi is awesome and I love it here every time (except that they close on Tuesdays lol, I keep forgetting this). Good job everyone, keep up the excellence!
