435 North Rd #24, Coquitlam, BC V3K 3V9, Canada
Popular, unpretentious destination offering generous Korean-Chinese fusion dishes.
My bf wanted to go to his favourite korean restaurant, and I know why it's his favourite! They place was super busy, the portions are huge, and service was great. It also came with a side spicy soup which I thought went well with the rice dishes. Will come back again!
We brought a party of 8 and with some notice they were happy to oblige. We had some food to share for the table and dishes each. The portions are large but very welcome. The fried pork and chicken were light, airy and crispy with perfect seasoning. All the Noodle dishes were very tasty. Some were a little too saucy, but I enjoy that. Will definitely return again.
The set meal portions are quite large, which is great if you're hungry. However, two of the dishes are noodle-based, so there isn’t as much variety as I’d hoped. The dry-fried chicken has a nice, rich flavor and is definitely a highlight, but the noodles with black bean sauce are a bit bland and could use more seasoning to stand out. The service is attentive and quick, which is a plus, and it would be even better if they offered a bit more of the Korean side dishes to complete the meal.
This place was highly recommended by a server at another restaurant 😂 and it did NOT disappoint!!! We had combo A and had plenty of food for 2 people. The star of the show was the Jjam Bong, we didn’t want to get it spicy because it was our first time, but there was chilli powder on the side for us to add to our liking. We were full by the end of our meal, but I could drink that broth forever 🤣 The hype is REAL about this place!!!
Very delicious sweet and sour pork, soup noodle very tasty and good service. Price is very reasonable and the amount is alot
Don't let the modest decor fool you, as this restaurant is a place of culinary surprises, where the banchan may not wow, but everything else certainly does. We ordered Combo B and soon realized that 'family combo' means a feast suitable for a small army, not just two people. The sheer volume of food served was staggering, especially considering the reasonable cost. Each dish, especially the Jjam Bong, was flavor-packed, hitting all the right notes. I highly recommend this spot for large groups looking for a meal that's both delicious and abundant without breaking the bank.
This is one of few restaurants left in Vancouver area where you can eat good food without breaking the bank. I personally love their black bean sauce noodle which is sweet and savoury noodle, and their spicy seafood soup noodle is also fantastic. We also had the sweet and sour pork and deep fried gyoza. They are fresh, and very hot, and perfect for larger groups. It's usually pretty busy so expect to wait but make sure to come with empty stomach because their portions are pretty big. I highly recommend this place if you want to try Korean-style Chinese food!
Friends had introduced me to this Korean/Chinese restaurant that they believe is the best Korean mom & pop place for good wholesome food! It was hopping busy and we ended up writing our names on a clipboard by the entrance. Our wait wasn’t too long. Lots of people were doing takeout. They offer a simple menu without a huge list of items to choose from. We ordered Combo E for $137.90 plus an order of the sweet and sour fried chicken. It’s the best value offering a sampling of this and that with tasty food and decent portions. I was impressed by their huge portions which were enough to feed over 4 people. There was enough leftovers for at least 3 more meals the following day. If you’re looking for a fancy ambience, you won’t find it here. If you’re seeking yummy food, this is it! The service was great too! There’s plenty of free parking in the lot. They’re just across the street from White Spot.
Their jjam-ja-myun is TOP TIER!!! Portion was perfect and jjam-bong soup was sooo delicious. Also, their tang-su-yuk was really crispy (it stayed crispy for a while!) also delicious. Would definitely come again!!
Last order at 8pm. Very tasty, big portion. Food
Huge portion; they also have small portions. Great taste, doesn t take long to wait for food. Strongly recommended!
Hee Rae Deung is hands down one of the most reliable Korean Chinese restaurants in the Lower Mainland. The food is consistently delicious, delivering on flavor every time. The Jja Jang Myun is rich and savory, perfectly satisfying, and the Tangsuyuk is always crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. It s become our go-to spot whenever we crave Korean Chinese food. Highly recommended.
Their food takes me back to when I was 4 years old back in Korea. I remember I would take money from my mothers wallet and go get some jajameon across the street. It was okay to wonder by myself through the heavy traffic alone at the age of 4 cause everybody did it back then. Just to note I do not take money from my mothers wallet now.. I got my own money so I will come here with my money obviously... ... ..... Favorite dish: Sae muel Gan geong Ja Jang Meon I think I spelled it correctly.. It means Seafood jajangmeon but the sauce comes on the side. Tang soo yuk (Sweet and Sour Pork basically) is a must. 5 Star
DELICIOUS black beans noodle and sweet and sour pork. Ample parking too.
Number one korean- Chinese restaurant in Vancouver
For Heeraedeung, remember sweet and sour pork and black bean noodles..! Even if you order small portions, the portions are huge, so they always pack the crispy sweet and sour pork and springy jjajangmyeon..! Personally, Jjamppong is not my favorite, but my lover always orders Jjamppong because it s delicious! My very own Vancouver s #1 Chinese restaurant!
I visited this restaurant twice in 3 days with my family from Korea and Canada. Food was excellant
Jjajang was soooo good and the family size is huge! Best for price and taste
I went because the kids wanted to eat Korean-style Chinese food!! The jjamppong soup was good ^^ The sweet and sour pork was better than most Korean ones, the sauce was delicious and the meat was good!! Parking: It was nice to be able to park in the shade! Kid-friendliness: Be kind to children!
Great place for Korean Noodles.
I submitted Ryu San-seul, but the visual is like this, so it cant be? I ate Korean characters while doing this (I couldnt even use chopsticks), but it was full of soup. I enjoyed the $46 seafood washed brine. (Only 3 vegetables) The submission container was very small and the content was poor and needless to explain. I wonder what kind of guts they have to sell food like this. Not only the person who makes it, but the person who packs it seems to package it without even looking at the contents.
I ve been going here since I was born and it s still amazing. Affordable/good portions, tasty food. My family always get the jjajangmeon, jjambong, fried rice, and tangsyuk and they have never missed for 20 years. 10/10
Good attentive service, unfortunately cannot say the same about the food. The tangsuyuk served to us was very tough and overcooked; Almost positive it wasn t cooked to order. Owner refused to do anything but provide an empty apology which meant nothing as we are still paying for inedible food. I was a regular here but as there are many other options for this type of cuisine now I will not return here. Place has gone so downhill. What a shame.
I highly recommend the Jjamppong sweet and sour pork~
Amazing bang for your buck, very authentic korean cuisine.
Ah... I was so hungry I couldnt take a picture. Actually, the Jjajangmyeon seemed a bit bland this time. Jjambbong and sweet and sour pork were really delicious. In some places, the clothing on the meat is so thick that its sometimes confusing whether youre eating meat or fried flour, but here, the sweet and sour pork is crispy, moist, and not too chewy, and its so delicious!!!
Food is delicious and server is very kind
Best Korean style Chinese food in this area!! P
Great service, amazing food, family friendly.
The service is the best and the generous portions are the best
First time having Korean food and I loved it
The portion of all the dishes is generous
Food is so good. During lunch time there was a lot of waiting but it was worth to wait! We got combo B and it was so filling and delicious also the menu tab ob the side made it easier rather than try to talk to the server. Food
I frequently visit this place with my husband. The food is delicious, and the portions are generous, requiring takeout boxes. I recommend the jjamppong, nurungji-tang, and japchae-bap at this place.
Very large portions
Kid-friendliness: High chair available Food
Its really a lot.
Ganjjajang was not soybean paste... The Kkanpunggi was similar only in appearance... The seafood was overcooked... The meat and seafood had no smell... I said it was delicious so I invited someone to buy me coffee.
the best JJM you can find!! i drive from richmond to get my fix. super juicy and tasty chicken as well. servers are very kind and sweet, service is quick
Jjajangmyeon
The servers are friendly and the service is good. I ordered combo B a little after lunch time on Saturday, but the jjamppong and jjajang were bland and tasteless, and I really regretted it. The kkanpunggi was just like that. It may be subjective, but I dont think Ill go back because the taste is a bit bad.
I came to this restaurant on a random afternoon, and its still full. You can tell its a good place. I would recommend coming with a group of people because their dishes are not offered in small portions.
Best Gan-JJaJang and sweet & sour pork ever! I will definitely go back and try other dishes too.
Its crazy. Its really delicious here. Come here next time. It tastes like if Gordon Ramsay came and ate here, he would leave 5 reviews. Jjajangmyeon is the most delicious. Just eat it for two and its a taste you wont know even if one of you dies. Come back with your girlfriend later. . I didnt have a girlfriend so I came with my family haha.
I drive all the way from Richmond just to eat here. The portions are so damn big and the food tastes so good. The staff and owners are very friendly and these factors to come together to produce such a pleasant atmosphere. Ordering the combo yields the best value and Id recommend getting the sauce on the side so you can 1) choose how much you want and 2) can taste but the with/without sauce taste!
Tried to order kkanpunggi I ordered sheepskin by mistake. This is a restaurant with yangjangpi. Its really delicious Just a little bit of mustard sauce It tastes richer
everything is good
I visited after two and a half years. I went around 3pm and ordered a combo, but the sweet and sour pork was very soggy. I think they fried the leftovers again during lunch time. I didnt think this was a good idea, but I didnt want to blush, so I ate it anyway. Since my house is in West Vancouver, there are no Chinese restaurants nearby, so I tend to go to many Chinese restaurants, including Langley North Vancouver Metrotown, without any places I can call a regular, but this was the most disappointing restaurant Ive visited recently. I probably wont visit again.
Disappointed by this place and how the quality of the food has gone way down for the price you are paying. This used to be the go to place for my family for Korean Chinese place, but after our last take out meal, that was our last time ordering from here. Not sure if the owner or the chef changed but the jjajangmyeon is too sweet and the gganpoonggi is way too hard and also very sweet. The jjampong only really comes with squid, onions and cabbage, no other seafood can be found in the soup. Definitely not worth the price you are paying and they have cheaped out in the ingredients.
Like it.
We ve been going to this restaurant for almost 10 years! Even after we moved from the country, it s always the first restaurant that we visit every time we re in Coquitlam. My hubby LOOOOVVEESS the kkanpungki. He tried so many kkanpungki from different korean restaurants around Vancouver and said that Hee Rae Dung s is still the best for him. - Kkanpungki: the chicken pieces were crispy and the sweet sour sauce was delicious (combo of tangy, sweet and a bit spicy) - Tang suyuk: the pork is crispy yet still tender. The sweet sour sauce is goood! My kid can eat this since it wasn t spicy at all. - Jjajangmyeon: good authentic black bean noodle. The sauce has bold flavor. The noodle was good and chewy - Jam bong: hearty warm soup for Vancouver cold weather but it was a bit too spicy for me. Lots of seafood inside. The restaurant is always busy. Be prepare to wait in line or go when they re just open for the day to avoid the line
I like their food since soup is not too salty or sweet. Jjampong and kanpoongki was good.
We haven t tried their signatures like Fried Pork or chicken menus but usually come for their Yang hang pi which is cold mixed vege noodle plate with bit of meat and more. It is pretty good even to compare to other good Korean Chinese style restaurants in lower mainland. Parking here is plenty and place feels cozy. However black bean noodle sauce was bit salty to our taste.
Its close to Roheed Station, so I took the subway and stopped by for lunch. The Jajangmyeon is not too sweet and is very delicious, and the Jjambbong is also delicious. (It s not spicy and the soup is refreshing. I think you can adjust the spiciness.) The most delicious thing is sweet and sour pork. Its soft fried pork with almost no batter. I want to come back again to eat sweet and sour pork. There was a lot of sweet and sour pork, so I ate 1/3 of it and took the rest to take away. I plan on using the air fryer tomorrow. :) Thank you so much! I enjoyed it!
Big portion, authentical taste, good price
So much food at a good price! Delicious too. Wonderful service.
A bit utilitarian but the food was plentiful and tasty
was able to get a decent vegetarian option.
The staff are friendly Unfortunately, when Im busy, I have to repeat what I said several times... The taste is not good if you like spicy flavors. Its perfect if you like a mild taste. If you like the taste of old-fashioned sweet and sour pork, this is the place for you. The sweetness of Jjajangmyeon is weak and the Jjamppong is also slightly less stimulating.
The food is delicious, but they do business with takeout containers. They charge $0.5 per takeout container, but if you pack the sweet and sour pork with sauce, you have to pay an additional $1. And there are meal time restrictions. There is a notice on the wall, but I dont think its a good idea to charge $0.5 per container, regardless of type, when other restaurants give it away for free.
MIND-BLOWN! Not just their serving portion is amazing, they taste so great! Could not even finish what I ordered, but I wanted to keep eating. Staffs were super friendly too! Parking: Lots of private parking lot spaces. Kid-friendliness: Kids friendly.
Four of us ordered all the different plates, and we all were shocked how bad the food could be.
Best of best food, Very healthy food, Very kindness employee.
The staff is friendly
The Korean Jjajangmyeon I missed..
Great and relatively cheap. They serve typical Korean foods you can get at other korean restaurants which is good as you know what to expect, and they all tasted great. We ordered a combo E, getting 6 dishes. Ended up only spending $17/person!
Authentic Korean food. All the people dining in the restaurant are Koreans. Since I don t know much about Korean food, I asked the waiter for recommendations. I ordered sea food spicy noodles and spicy and sour pork strips for takeout. The noodles were really delicious and the pork strips were very unique. The portion is huge and it took me 3 meals to finish it. When I preheated it with air frying, the oil dripping out was very clean. This restaurant uses clean fried food and uses reusable bags for takeout. The food is safe and reliable, and the seats in the store are It is always full. I wanted to try it before the epidemic, but there was always a long queue. It was closed for a long time due to the epidemic. Now I finally try it!
Close these days!!!
Ordered the $165 family combo. the dishes were all very delicious. I have been ordering takeout from here several times now and was always very good. I had to wait a little longer due to the popularity of the restaurant. If you order by phone or on the app on your phone, expect to add another 20 to 30 minutes to your pickup time during the busy dinner rush. No complaints whatsoever
Go to place for Korean Chinese noodles in Vancouver! The taste is authentic and portions for fried pork is massive. Would recommend combo A or combo B. Usually gets very busy during dinner time.
WOW! Finally a place that I can confidently say is amazing! For Korean-Chinese food! The black bean noodles here is addictive! Be careful! Also the sweet sour fried pork is HUGE! The only thing is to avoid rush hours if you don t like waiting in line for 10-20mins. And if you don t mind waiting, make sure to put your name down on the note pad list! It moves quick there and the menus on the wall. And be mindful there s a 1 hour time limit which they don t really enforce but to be polite keep that in mind! Not much to say other than you will love it! Closest thing to Korea jajangmeyon I ve had!
I love their jjampong and jajangmyeon, big portions at affordable prices with the family combo
My favorite Korean Chinese restaurant! The portion, the taste and the service
A few days ago, I went to Heerae Lighthouse during the day with some acquaintances and had 3 bowls of black bean paste and my favorite dish. I ordered and ate Kkanpunggi, but I asked if the owner had changed, because the Kkanpunggi was chewy on the outside, but that day, when I first bit into it, it was soggy and I wondered why the taste had changed so much. Not only me, but also my friends who were like me, it was not crunchy on the inside. It wasnt too moist, it just had an unattractive taste. They say that when Koreans first get a reputation for being good at cooking, they start to reduce the quantity and the taste gets worse. Is that really true? The quantity and taste were so bad that I was so disappointed. I went back to the beginning and left it to the customers. We look forward to becoming an unchanging restaurant that meets your taste buds.
The best no question
Jjamppong lacks a lot of seafood for the price, but it is delicious with a clean taste. However, the sauce for Jajangmyeon is not characteristic, and the sweet and sour pork, in particular, is fried for too long and then just like stone hard, and the meat quality does not seem to be good. Since there are few Korean restaurants in Vancouver, it seems that mostly older Koreans come here often. Therefore, it seems reasonable to greatly increase the quality of the food compared to the price or reduce the quantity and lower the price.
My hubby and I had combo A which was pretty good. Unfortunately, sweet & sour poke seemed to be too overcooked to eat. I couldnt even bite it properly. It was really huge portion for 2 people but we couldnt enjoy it. Not my lucky day! We enjoyed jjambbong a lot though which was way better than our expectation. I quite liked jjajangmyoun, too. Overall, I think that the food was pretty good but quite overpriced, too. In my opinion, Id rather choose good quailty than huge portion.
The Jjajang Jjamppong is still good, but the quality of the fried food has definitely gone down. Whether its sweet and sour pork or kkanpunggi, the chef at this place seems to have no concept of seasoning at all. Its just tasteless fried meat + the taste of sauce on the outside, but when you chew it, the overall taste becomes bland. The price is raised well in line with the cost of living, but the quality of the food is not raised properly. In many ways, it is a case of losing ones original intention. Of course, I know its hard work, but if you pay a little more attention to the hard work and pay attention to every detail, you will be rewarded for your efforts.
THE Best Korean-Chinese restaurant in BC.
Its a bit of an afterthought, but I didnt understand why they asked for a tip when taking takeout when dine-in wasnt available due to covid. I felt like there had been some mistake, because the Jjajangmyeon was too salty and difficult to eat, and the service was unfriendly.
Tastes was good. Uncomfortable dining.
In fact, it tastes yummy, and the set menu is not expensive. Unfortunately, there are few varieties. I saw that most of the other customers were just eating, so overall it s not a bad deal!
Great food, fast service. Family friendly and big portions. Food is always good here and even though it s super busy most of the time It s worth the wait!
Samseon Sacheon Jjajang was just right for my taste! I should try cooking next time~
This is one of the best Korean-style Chinese restaurant with fresh cuisine and generous servings.
I ordered family black bean noodles to take out, but there was old dried rice glue stuck to the pickled radish. The pickled radish itself had dried and twisted pieces. I called and asked if you recycled. Stop talking and talk to the hall guests. Rather, he just asked us why the rice bowl was there, In the end, they blamed the person who prepared the side dishes. I didnt want to leave a review, but after calling, I felt I had to. Those who care about hygiene, please take note!
You should get ready for line up!!! Delicious and fresh food. So worth it.
My parents found out about this place through YouTube ads or whatever tv they watch lol. The taste was great but one thing I wished is if their jajangmyum had a bit more meat in the sauce buttt it tasted great!! My parents also enjoyed it so if you know Korean parents like it, then it s good Korean food!! I would like to come back and try the other dishes. The service was also great they were very friendly! And very accommodating. Last min my mom wanted a double portion after we had put our order in a few mins prior. They easily changed her order to bring out what she asked for. Also make sure to ask for rice to eat with your leftover sauce from the noodles!!
Sweet and sour pork smelled like meat. I couldnt eat it and threw it all away. I tried to call and complain, but I endured the loss and endured it. It was unfair.
Theres a lot of it.
Yesterday, I visited Hiraedeung for dinner with my wife. I ordered Samseon Fried Rice and Kkanpunggi, but as you can see in the picture, the fried rice was barely fried, and the rice was even served in lumps here and there like rice cakes. I tend not to give bad reviews when I go to any restaurant, so I thought Id just eat it, so I tried some fried rice on the plate, but I didnt think I could do it, so I told the server about it. He said he was sorry and said he would make fried rice again, but he went into the kitchen with the fried rice he was eating. About 5 to 10 minutes later, he brought back new food, but the contents were the same. After trying a small portion of the new food(?) I brought, I felt so bad that I asked for the bill and went to the counter and said, Honestly, fried rice is a bit of a waste of money. I said that, but it seemed like they had no intention of deducting the price of the fried rice, so I just paid the price and left. Food sold in restaurants should not be made and sold this way. You cant run a restaurant like this either.
Nice Chinese food (korean style chinese food) Grab the jjamppong (seafood noodle soup) and sweet and sour pork (fried pork)
Their portion is a lot, and the food is always tasty. Wish the set menu was a bit different range. I love their jjambbomg soup and tangsooyuk. One of my favorite place in Vancouver. Service is good and atmosphere is okay. But you have to try the food!
I took out sweet and sour pork... Isnt it too burnt? It had a burnt smell + was too hard to eat. Please pay attention.
Huge and delicious portions.
Thank you for the amazing food. I appreciate the food you make.
I ordered Jjajangmyeon and Kkanpunggi, but I was disappointed because it was too sweet. It didnt taste the same as before. It was a waste of money.
They have good combo options with black bean noodle(Jia Jiang Myen) , spicy seafood noodle in soup(Jjam Bong), and korean style sweet and sour pork or chicken. There are so many to choose from.
The food is delicious at affordable prices, and the fried chicken is outstanding. Parking is very convenient
Very big portion of Tangsuyuk. Spicy seafood noodle was alway good. There s meat in the black bean noodle at other restaurants, but not here. Also the black bean noodle was kinda insipid . Good service tho
Good portions, good taste. Will come back here if I m craving Korean-Chinese food.
Delicious food. Great price and proportions. It would be great if they have vegan options as well.
amazing portion
It always tastes equally delicious^^
Delicious and reasonable price
Good
I always eat sweet and sour pork, but this was my first time ordering kkanpunggi, and I was so disappointed. There was too much batter, and there were quite a few pieces of meat that were hard to chew, probably because it had been fried multiple times. I am well aware of Heeraedeungs reputation for sweet and sour pork, but compared to that, I was very, very disappointed with the spicy pork. Please improve the menu.
This is my favorite Korean restaurant. My Korean best friend brought me here and said its one of the best. He wasnt wrong The vibe is very chill, almost like youre at a family friends house. The staff were very polite, and came to check on us every few minutes. The price of the food was in the pricier side, which was my only problem. The portion of the pork however, was huge! I am giving them a 5/5 because I asked them what their playlist was and the server took a while to find the Spotify on their device to show me. I was very touched they went out of their way for me! I am also giving them a 5/5 because this is one of the only korean restaurant to treat foreigners nice.
Nice food
Very good restaurant with authentic Korean food. Their black bean noodle is one of the best in the city.
Almost always delicious!
I submitted sweet and sour pork and jjamppong, but the sweet and sour pork was too dry and the jjamppong noodles were sticky. The jjamppong soup didnt even have a single piece of shrimp and only a few strands of squid. Youve changed so much. I feel like Bong Restaurant is better.
/ Tang Su Yuk (Sweet and Sour Pork) is the best personally and the portion is really good for 3 people, maybe 3-4 people!
Food is a bit salty for my taste. But whenever I am in the area, I like to order takeout from here because they give very generous portions.
Very poor service I ever had! I requested for high chair for baby and they told me that they dont have one and it was hard to eat with holding a baby in my arm so i was asking for another chair and guess what! They bring the high chair for the baby.. WTFffff ??????????????? Totally... there was a baby chair but they said there wasnt one... It was so hard to eat that I asked for a regular chair... Then he suddenly brought out a baby chair... Wow, this isnt really it
Taste not like something special but its consistent
Amazing sweet and sour pork and big portions! Always satisfied!
Great family combo! Love their combo B with chicken. Good portion and variety for family sharing
Its delicious when seasoned.
Just like their fodd and big portion.
New price updated.
Its been such a long time to taste nice Korean Chinese dishes. And the portion is huge haha
Arrived after 3 pm and only a couple of tables were occupied. Ordered two items. Ja Jang Myun was served first but then it took another 20 min to have Jjam Bong rice. They seemed to be busy with orders from online platforms. Ja Jang Myun was like homemade Ja Jang Ramen - lack of sauce and tasteless. We used to enjoy very much maybe during their first 10 years but under the same ownership things are not the same. Rice itself also tasted like rock - dry and crunchy.
If youre busy, its $15! As soon as I took a bite of the Jjamppong soup, it tasted like Korea haha. Even though there was a little bit of seasoning, I thought it was the taste of Korean Jjamppong. The Jjajangmyeon was more delicious than the common Jjamppong noodles sold in Korea They gave me a lot of portions, so even though I am a woman who eats well, I still had some left over.
Price on menu just increased
Normal. Not particularly delicious. The price is expensive.
I had Family Set A and it was delicious. I think its one of the best Chinese restaurants nearby.
Horrible customer service, i have never waited over an hour to get take out food in my life. Since the server told me it will take 20mins. Wasted my time and energy. They just gave my money back but no food and my time. Never coming back.
Was my favorite but not anymore... price went up too too high! :(
Love the food and service. Prepare to wait during dinner hours
The taste and their service was not as good as before.
Come here for super authentic and homestyle Korean food. Its family owned, and very wholesome! Portions are huge- I had leftovers for a few days! Staff are also friendly, and it does get crowded at lunchtime.
They are used to be really good. Weird not anymore. Their service was good not taste
Its a shame that you cant change the menu from the set menu. So I ordered it separately. The sweet and sour pork was delicious, but the jajangmyeon was not my taste. Jjambbong seems average? There were a lot of people during meal times, so there was often a wait, but if you go a little later, you can eat in a quieter place. Willing to visit again
Delicious Korean-style Chinese fusion food. The jjajangmyun is delicious (I especially like the spicy seafood one). The prices are reasonable, and portions are fair.
The best Chinese restaurant in Vancouver. Its amazing that they maintain the taste.
The sweet and sour pork is a bit dry, probably because it was pre-fried. Jjajang is not good. The Jjambbong was okay, but there was too little seafood. And the price is a bit expensive compared to the taste. Above all, charging 0.5 cent per donation bowl is too much. It makes no sense to receive more than the cost of the To-Go box. The servers service was good. Other than the advantage of the food coming out quickly...
Great dishes, good COVID-19 protocols in place and kind service
This restaurant provides stingy and disrespectful service and only cares about fast turnover. 1) The server tells me to write my name down and urges me to wait outside the door although there are empty tables and nobody is on the list before me. 2) There is a posted instruction asking you to finish your meal within 1 hour and they are going to charge $ 0.50 for for take-out containers. Absolutely miserly and insolent. No self-respecting person should support this business.
Its not right and the price is too expensive. Well, prices are rising, but shouldnt it taste good? Its tasteless. Also, when I tried to submit it there, the price of the container went up so I wrote down how much I would get per container, but thats not the total, its how much it is per container lol. The price of the container goes up, but I know its all gone down again these days. Do business with a conscience. This is the first time Ive seen a store charge money for submissions, but its also the first time Ive seen a store charge per container.
Bad service. I asked if nuts are included and the waitress was very unfriendly and answered ambiguously.
Great food
A small, diner like, hole in the wall that just happens to serve solid heartwarming food. This is not high cuisine, this is not great staff, this is not ambiance. What this happens to be is Korean/Chinese comfort food, huge portions, good prices (for Vancouver) and efficient staff and pleasant food. I enjoyed the restaurant quite a bit, and will be back. Most patrons were families and large groups. Open the door, write your name down and wait outside. The system works although some may think it is a little chaotic. Order a combo meal if you have not been there before (we ordered B and it was good for 4 or 5 people), they are good and give you an idea of what to expect if you want to come back. You will likely be taking food home, think about that if you are doing this at the start of your evening. The food was good, but not great. I am not an expert or even all that familiar with this cuisine, but it was filling and pleasant. The seafood soup had little seafood in it, but was tasty and I assume the draw is the noodles. The same can be said for the black bean noodles. We had the fried spicy chicken and it was nice, with orange peel, chilies and obviously not a premade commercial tub of generic sauce. I would recommend this place to anyone interested in Korean comfort food.
I loved the prawns.
I ate at Heerae Lighthouse after receiving a recommendation from a close friend. My wife and I ordered Combo A. The portion size is quite large, so I think it would be enough for 4 people. I thought there would be a lot of customers for lunch, so I went right at opening time. After finishing our meal, around 12 oclock, the tables were full and there was a lot of waiting. Sweet and sour pork came out first. The batter was crispy and there was a lot of meat inside, so it was very delicious. The sauce had a nice sweet and sour taste. Jjajangmyeon and Jjamppong both had very firm and chewy noodles, but in Jjajang, it felt like the noodles and the sauce were a bit separate. I thought it was because the noodles were too springy, but the sauce was salty and good. The Jjambbong was very generous and plentiful. My personal opinion is that I wish there was a spicy sauce. It was delicious.
always satisfied
Portion, taste and pricing is good. They are usually pretty busy since its a popular place to go to. Regardless, their service is good every time I go and I would recommend going if youve never been!
I totally disagree with the reviews saying garbage and putting 1 star. Food is really nice and size is more than enough, service is perfect. If ppl were looking for better service, I would strongly kindly recommend going 5 stars restaurant
We visited 8 golfers for dinner. Ordered Yang Jang pi-cold plate, Black bean noodles, Sweet sour fried, Friday dumplings, and beer & Soju... Very delicious & good price. Serving is so so. Parking: Very good parking place.
pretty standard. wont be disappointed!
Sweet and sour pork Vancouver Gap
White Jjamppong and sweet and sour pork are delicious!
One of my favorites for black bean sauce noodles. In my opinion the best in the lower mainland.
LOVE their food. Great service and friendly staff too!
I really like it Ive visited it quite often over the years. Yesterday, I ordered Rajogi for the first time in my life Everything here is delicious except Rajogi. You should never order Rajogi
Its good value for money, but its inconvenient because its closed on too many days. (I know its closed on Sundays and Mondays, but why are you closed on Tuesday this week...?)
Food that never disappoints. We ordered the JJM, JB, and Sweet and Sour chicken set. The food is amazing as always. Jjamppong at the highest spice level is highly recommended for cold days. Jajangmyeon delicious, savoury and hearty. The fried chicken is 10/10, freshly fried, lightly battered, and very very delicious. Price: ~ CAD 15/person. This restaurant does tend to get busy as this is a very popular place for the Korean community in the area. Restaurant is extremely cosy and a great place to bring family/friends.
Good cheap korean restaurants. Worth the price for the big combo and could takeaway. The cheapest combo maybe suits for 5 persons as they are so big. I got the cheapest combo by the way. Anyway cheers and recommended for korean restaurant around the area!!
Delicious meal everytime
Went back and the service was much better. Big portions, very generous and good prices. Taste really good, not salty! Service was quick, however if you come here you flag down the waitresses We had the Jjiamppong, fried rice, and Tangsooyuk. The rice was not salty, well seasoned, and the black bean sauce that came out with it was the perfect thing to eat it with! Made it even more delicious! Jjiamppong was hot n spice, I think a bit too much of the veggies but very good! Tangsooyuk was an ungodly amount of food, we didnt make a dent in it and took the rest of it home. The sweet n sour sauce that comes on the side completes the dish, but you can eat it without the sauce and it will still taste pretty good! Will come back again
I feel it every time I go, but the jjajangmyeon contains half of the onions. They say its because they season it with onions, but really...is jjamppong also onion soup?? Please add it in moderation..
Instead of the sweet and sour pork and kkanpunggi that I always eat, I tried nurungji stew for the first time, and it was better than I expected! If the price were a little lower, I would eat it more often. I think Ill probably order sweet and sour pork next time :)
The best Korean-Chinese restaurant in Vancouver. Worth the money to come. This place is well known for their huge portion. Jajangmyeon was delicious and less oily than other restaurants and jjamppong soup was flavourful with smoky flavor. Their tangsooyuk was super crispy and its sauce was amazingly delicious as well. Ill definitely visit this place again in the future.
Tasty food with good meal sets
