The service was very good and friendly. I loved the roasted corn tea. I had not had it before and I love it. The ramen was just the way I like it. I had Cha-ku ramen. The marinade made the pork so sweet and tasty. This is my new go to Ramen place! And the food came to the table so quickly.

Ramen is always perfect for me , not salty, and portions are just enough.

Service was very friendly and extremely fast - my wife and I were doing some errands nearby and had to grab a quick bite before leaving, and our ramen arrived within five minutes after placing the order. The taste of our ramen was decent, not great. As others have pointed out, the soup base appears to be on the blend side. The spicier soup base tasted better, but that probably is more of a personal taste. The meat was fresh and tender; the noodles were not the best quality but were all right. Price was reasonable enough - again, decent, but not great.

I ordered chashu ramen spicy level 3 for to go. I think it is the best ramen restaurant in this area. Reasonable price and poriton was big. The broth was very rich and flavourful. I must come back to this restaurant!

I had Cha-ku ramen with karaage bowl. The broth was so so, the noodle was good. Kikuni was delicious but I dont eat the fat parts so I had to separate it. The karaage is also ok but overall if I have to compare with Maruhachi, this is lower. Pricewise is cheaper tho.

Tasty ramen, the broth is rich and not too salty. The pork is flavourful not skimpy. Recommended! Kid-friendliness: Has a nice $10 combo for kids with small ramen, egg, three-piece kaarage and juice.

Sugoi Ive been coming here for years. Ive tried most of the Ramen joints in the Tri Cities. Many in Burnaby and Vancouver. This is my favorite spot. Food is great, I love the Kakuni, Wonton & Curry Ramen. Spice level 3 or 4 minimum. The kakuni is just sooo tasty, explodes flavor in the mouth. I dont usually like the fat on pork, but theres so much flavor you cant not devour it. Servers are always friendly. Its a small spot but I love the cozy atmosphere.

Should ve read the reviews before wasting my time and coming to this place. Was a bit busy, however the server was 0 interested in giving a service. There was plenty of empty tables to put together and seat 4 people, I even suggested a place where we could seat. Her answer was yeah give me a minute and plenty of minutes passed by and she didn t even show interest in having us there. Thank you, after reading the reviews now I know I didn t miss any good food experience.

Theres only one option for vegan ramen. Its more of a noodle soup than a ramen. And they used instant noodles for a $17 item

The other recent low stars mustve come on an off day. We just had the pork belly, Sapporo, curry and kids ramen and all were very tasty. The service was fast, and the food was hot when it came out. Its a cute little family owned restaurant. Definitely will be back!

Better than any other place in Coquitlam in my opinion. Ive tried everywhere else, and this place has great broth, great noodles, and plentiful toppings. Only thing Id say needs a bit of improvement is the kakuni meat, just a little too chewy and tough. otherwise tastes amazing.

The price and quantity are reasonable. I ordered Shobu and it would be better if it had more soybean paste flavor. Now, if I want to eat ramen, I will go here rather than other ramen restaurants nearby because it is expensive and the quantity is good.

This is one of the best ramen in Coquitlam. The soup base is well cooked and flavourful, going very well with the ramen noodles. The only thing is it is a small restaurant that wont be able to accommodate too many people at a go.

Ramen noodles is of excellent quality with a desired springy texture. Several types of soup base but I like how it is more liquid soup that can be consumed rather than a thick sauce type. Broth is very rich and flavourful.

had the vegan ramen. they were out of the vegan noodles, but Im okay with egg-flour noodles. I ordered a 3-spice and it is legit medium spicy. there was not a lot of tofu but plenty of noodles and bok choy, and the perfect amount of black mushrooms.

Nice little ramen shop inside the mall. Owner is super friendly and the Ramen is served quickly and a decent sized portion at a very reasonable price.

Great service, and very fast. Noodles have a good texture, not too chewy, not too soft. The soup is flavourful, and it has different levels of spice to choose from. The meat (Cha shu, Kakuni, karaoke, etc.) are also very flavourful. The tea tastes good, its above the average taste compared to different Asian restaurants. Portions are very good, with an option to get a mini bowl of your chosen topping if you want (comes discounted with Ramen bowl). The place is small, but makes good use of the space. Overall great.

We ordered the Sapporo miso soup, was full of onions, noodles were mushy, very little seafood. Broth was tasteless they tried to mask it with the spice. The tea they served was hot water no tea flavor. When we got home within hours we had diarrhea all that afternoon and evening. Will never go to this place again even if the food was free. So many ramen places go to one of them not Sho Bu. Very disgusted.

i ve tried my fair share of ramen places and this one is by far my favourite. the staff is friendly and efficient! the food itself is delicious and for the large amount it s appropriately priced. i would recommend friends and family to this place!

Service is always good. The ramen broth is generally okay, nothing special, especially in comparison to restaurants in Vancouver that do a really really good job. However the pork belly is the best ive ever had here. The way the pork belly is cooked is exceptional and a must try!

The place was tidy and cozy. The staff were welcoming and friendly. I had Sapporo miso ramen. Really tasty. Broth was rich, but not heavy at all. Just perfect!!! All topping ingredients were super fresh. Service was fast and attentive. Very delightful experience. Highly recommend these guys.

The vibes kind of reminds me of the back alley ramen places in Japan ran by Japanese Grandpas that has been making ramen for longer than my bloodline has been walking this planet. Service is nice and quick, the barley tea is amazing, and prices arent super bad. Soup is delicious, noodles are made with a bit of bounce to make it perfectly chewy. I had the Karage here before though and the meat tasted like it was refried, so I personally would recommend against anything that is fried. A little cramped for space, but the ramen is pretty good! Their pricing is fantastic, considering that most of the ramen contains the egg too, so no extra fee is needed. We got their takoyaki too, which is also great. I highly recommend their shoyu ramen :) Parking: Mall parking!

This has been one of my favorite ramen places since highschool (I am now a 2nd year university student) . Decided to take my parents today and was not disappointed as usual. The customer service was lovely and the food came very fast. The ramen was very delicious and the portions were fair for the price that they were charged at. Would highly recommend the cha-su or cha-ku ramens!

Their spicy beef ramen is fire.. I know a lot of you like spicy foods so make sure that the spicy level is 4. Thinking about it makes me mouth water Food

I ordered the cha-ku and shoyu. I recommend less spicy because it takes away from the original flavour of the broth and just becomes shichimi flavoured. Quiet location with good service.

Food quality has gone down. Cha sui and Kakuni were tough and hard, while I recall them melting in my mouth in the past, the chicken had the freezer taste which even deep frying couldnt mask. The egg was not made fresh. The soup didnt have the abundant toppings which came as a standard such as sweet corn and bamboo shoots. Maybe I am just being picky...probably wont go back in a while.

Food was top notch, lots of meat for the price, spice level very intuitive and what I would expect, and service friendly and attentive. Sho Bu is located inside Henderson mall. The server was extremely friendly and we got seated right away. After placing our order, it only took 5 minutes for our ramen to come out. I love how fast the service was. I ordered the Karaage Ramen and it was super delicious. I also really enjoyed the flavor of the broth. One thing I do wish was different was that the noodles were a bit soft and I prefer them to be a little more firm. Other than that everything was fantastic!! Definitely will return when I m back in the area. Vegetarian options: There is a ramen type you can get if you re vegetarian.

An okay little spot. I found the ramen broth to be bland, and the noodles were very basic. Ask for some chilli oil to add some more flavour. The Cha-shu was good, and the price for the meal was affordable, but I will probably not be coming here again.

I took my wife to a nice early ramen dinner, and I was really shocked by how bland the broth was. This was my first time here, but has the ownership changed? I cant believe how people couldve left all these 4-5 star reviews, particularly those who mentioned that the broth was good. At least these reviews do not represent the quality of the food my wife and I were served. - Double-double, spicy level 3 (2/5) Bland broth: couldnt simply finish it. Swollen bamboo shoots, still edible. Decent Chashu. Eggs were slightly overcooked than it should be. Ordered a bowl of rich broth; its a tiny bit better but still bland. Instant noodles like Sapporo Ichiban. - Wonton noodle, no spice (3/5) Slightly better broth; I think it was shio broth. The flavor of corn went well with the thin broth. Wontons were surprisingly good and flavorful. Instant noodles like Sapporo Ichiban. The server was really kind and gentle. Id give 4/5 for the service. There was a miscommunication that I wanted to sample taste the rich broth if thats any better but got a full bowl of broth for $5, which was totally fine - except I didnt drink more than 90% of it. I usually finish the soup with extra noodle or rice, but this visit was probably my first time in many, many years that I left most of it. What a disappointment. Its too bad that the quality of the broth and the use of instant noodles did not match the prompt and kind service of the server.

I have been to sho bu twice. I have loved it both times!! First time I had karaage (chicken) ramen and second time I had sapporo miso ramen. Both are excellent! I had level 2 out of 5 spicy and it was perfect. Spicy enough, but manageable. My sister had the cha-shu ramen and enjoyed it. Service was good too!

Came in by myself and had a nice hearty bowl of Ramen. Dining room is quite small, only 6 or 7 tables. Service was fast and friendly.

Son wanted Ramen for dinner after volleyball practice and we had to wait for our daughter to finish her practice nearby so we found this small place. Decent portion size and they have quite a few choices. You can have it spicy or not, the one in the photos is a 2, scale is from 1-5, it wasnt overly spicy but enough for a runny nose. Not the most flavourful but not bad because I drank up all the soup. The bowls are deep so there was more noodles that I first expected. I would go back again if we needed to grab a bite while in the area for Ramen.

Personally I think this is the best ramen place in Coquitlam area. During the pandemic theyve changed owner and they were kind of off on their broth base. But after a while they catch up the the standard I was used to. Their service is always good and staff are very friendly. The prices are getting higher than before, but still this is a good place to go if you like a bowl of tasty ramen.

Great little Ramen place in the burbs (Coquitlam.) Generally all the best Ramen places are downtown but its nice to have a solid choice closer to where we live. Yeah, the noodles could be thicker and firmer, yeah the broth could be a little more nuanced in flavor as it is at Kintaro Ramen downtown and the other Ramen place a few doors down from it. But gosh darn it, its a solid bowl of Ramen still. The gyozas were perfect, nice and crispy with beautiful garlicky meat goodness inside. The service though...I would give them 10 stars for that separately if I could. Super friendly and attentive but not too attentive. Great choice for Ramen in the burbs!

I went here so many times. Actually good service!But a little disappointed this time. I ordered this ramen,but the cha shu was not fresh,smelled wired,tasted a little sour! The waiter changed two new chashu for me,that s fresh.tasted good. I don t know why applying different quality cha shu to the costumer. Even no apologize. Won t wanna come again!

This is my absolute favourite restaurant. Period. Their ramen is unbeatable. Ive been to every spot in town that serves ramen, and none of them even compare to Sho Bu. While every item on the menu is to die for, my personal favourite dish is the Chicken Karaage (spice level 3 or 4 with rich broth). The noodles pair fantastically with the bean sprouts, and the portions of fried chicken provided on the side are very reasonable. For the price, it cannot be beaten. Their spice level goes from 1 to 5, with 5 of course being the highest. Many other, lesser, restaurants would adjust their spice level by cheap methods such as hot sauces or chili flakes. Not here. At Sho Bu, their spice is an all-over-the-mouth sensation which leaves you craving the next bite. For those who arent fans of the spice, Id recommend 2. For anybody else, 4 is a healthy medium. One thing that makes Sho Bu stand out from all the rest is their broth. Im not sure how it is done, but I have never in my life had anything like it. Whether it be the Tonkotsu, the Sho Yu, or the Miso, they always knock it out of the park. They offer Rich or Regular broth. Regular broth is a leaner, less oily alternative to Rich. It comes down to personal preference, but I would recommend the Rich broth 10 times out of 10. Its just more broth per broth. Their customer service is astonishing. The waitresses there are simply amazing. They take good care of each and every customer with civility, kindness, and unparalleled speed. From the moment I sit down on any average day, I can expect to be eating within 10 minutes. If youre looking for a great meal at a good price, look no farther. Welcome to Sho Bu. Welcome home.

Went here today with my friends, the broth was great. The ramen itself is also very flavorful. I ordered takoyaki for the side dish and oh boy, that thing burns, but it taste great nonetheless. Would visit again in the future.

Tasty ramen and good service

I ordered a simple shoyu ramen with extra chasu. In general, I loved the taste - though it was a bit salty, but I should have expected that from Shoyu ramen. The servers were very nice and the restaurant had a good vibe. I will definitely go back to this place when I want ramen in the future.

My favorite ramen place, with friendly staff and good food. Sometimes they play some nightclub music which I wouldnt say it exactly fits the ramen stand atmosphere, but Im sure there are patrons that like it.

Went for grandtr bday 8 total. Everyone one thoroughly enjoyed the meal. Fast pleasant attentive service. Reasonable prices. I ordered the miso seafood ramen spicy level 2 on a 1 to 5 scale and it was just my speed. The ramen was cooked just right and the selection of seafood was right on the money.

It is a relatively small ramen joint located in Henderson Place mall with an entrance available both from the street and the mall. Lady serving us was friendly and helpful. You can adjust the spiciness level for all of the ramens. Chaku and kakuni ramens were delicious flavorsome broth and a good ratio of toppings. The braised pork belly was especially memorable. I definitely wouldnt mind revisiting this place.

Here was close to my workplace. I came here before Covid. A waiter was rude so I didn t order and went to a different restaurant nearby. I have never come back since then.

The portion size was good. We were under too much of a time crunch to try and get things corrected but the chashu in both the karashi and kakuni ramen were too hard/stale. We had also come in expecting to be able to order tsukemen but it had been struck from the menu.

Favourite restaurant, I absolutely could not recommend it more. The staff are always so incredibly friendly, my friend and I go there at least once a week and they always remember us. The pricing is great for the amount of food you get. No other place could $17 get me such a good, filling meal. Personal favourite is the chicken karaage, spice level 4 (rich broth). Every time Im blown away by how fast the service is. You order your food, and 5 minutes later its in front of you, piping hot. Its a very charming restaurant. The decor is nice without trying to hard, the food is great, the service is wonderful. I recommend Sho Bu to anyone looking for a bite to eat in Coquitlam.

Even though it is supposed to be Japanese, it is actually operated by Koreans. To real Japanese people, it is not the REAL Japanese Stuff. However one must appreciate the effort put in by the operators. Good food, good service.

Ordered Cha Ku take out ,the kakuni were so dry and hard even I soaked in the soup and ate them at last. They were like pork jerky which cooked for ages.

The restaurant look nice and cozy but they give you reusable chopsticks and really thin tissues. I ordered shobu ramen spice level 3. Its not spicy att all and is kinda whatever? The karaage and pork is fine but noodles and soup base is unremarkable. Takoyaki here also lacks sauce.

THE BEST RAMEN PLACE EVERRRR! This will be mine and my bf s go to spot for ramen. Love the service of the lady too very nice and welcoming. Highly Highly recommend!

Awesome ramen! Way better than marutamu...its not a big place though. Wish they would have a bit more space with a view. But the food is fantastic!

Great ramen location ! I love their ramen but their menu is a little disappointing because when I went half the menu was unavailable.

Order a ramen and pork belly combo. And the pork belly is so awesome!! It is a big surprise ! Will come back again for full portion of pork belly! Yummy
