Gooi-Ga (구이가) Korean BBQ in Coquitlam

I recently visited this Korean BBQ restaurant.The quality of the meat was outstanding, everything was incredibly fresh and well-marinated. They had a wide selection, including beef, pork, chicken, and even seafood. As the meat sizzled on the grill, the aroma was irresistible, and every bite was tender, juicy, and flavorful. The side dishes were equally impressive, with unlimited refills of classic Korean banchan like kimchi, pickled veggies, and potato salad. The service was exceptional! The staff were so friendly and attentive, greeting us warmly as we arrived. They explained how to use the grill, adjusted the heat when needed.This Korean BBQ spot is definitely worth visiting!

Came to try the bbq here because of the reviews. Sadly there were no combos without seafood, NONE. There were 7 different combos available but they all had seafood. When asked if the restaurant can just substitute the seafood with any other protein the response was that the combos are already at a discounted price, so we can just order the combo without the seafood but everything else will remain the same, the only thing they might consider giving is extra rice -which is already included in the combo so is not helpful nor needed. The marinated beef short ribs and marinated pork jowl were good -same taste as other Korean bbq restaurants. Due to our seafood intolerance, we will not be coming here nor recommending this place to family and friends. Galbi restaurant is so much better. Very disappointed. Dietary restrictions: None

Honestly blown away by their service. First Korean restaurant in a long time to have staff come and ask if everything is okay. Had 2 soft tofu soups for a quick lunch, food was great. For the side dishes, odang was tasty, but kimchi was tad bit underwhelming, but not a deal breaker.

Food was amazing, one of the best korean bbq that i ve had in Metro Vancouver! Despite many of the comments talking about bad services at times, with our first experience one of the servers, Jun, was one of the best people to be served by! Promptly came when needed, made substitutions for us and tried his best to accommodate in any way he could. Would definitely go back just to see him and it made my experience great.

Very good food and chill atmosphere.

I had dinner on Sunday night, and the male server was very kind and nice, but the older woman made me feel really bad. First of all, I sat at the table 1-2 minutes later than my group and didnt know about the time limit (I wonder if they even told me about it), but while I was drinking, they came 5 minutes before and told me I had to leave? There was leftover food and not much alcohol left, so I tried to drink it quickly, but they took all the food, so I had the last drink left. Due to the nature of the restaurant serving grilled meat and alcohol, I wish the time information had been a little quicker... And no matter how limited the restrictions, its rude to take away dishes with food left on them without even asking if you can clean them up. On that day, I thought I might be more offended by the alcohol, so I just held back, but a few days later, Im writing this, and Im still thinking about it. This really makes me angry haha... I clearly remember the face and expression, I was so angry..! He had a rotten expression on his face the whole time he was working. If you dont want to work, I hope you dont. Its really annoying. Why do you take tips when you take orders through a tablet?

Looking at the review, it seemed a bit unfriendly. What is it? Does the person change every day of the week? The serving men and women were all very friendly... Everyone at the table was friendly. The meat was delicious and the portion size was better than I expected. Willing to visit again

Very disappointing, drove more than an hour for this restaurant in the evening. Although their phone was not answered, but because Google Map said it was open, we came. Very disappointed!

Price performance Delicious Korean BBQ and veggies Food

we got the $62 couple combo which includes 3 types of beef, rice for 2, steamed egg, and their AYCE sides.

The food wasnt that great, especially the pork, and what was even more disappointing was that there was no lettuce to eat as wraps, so I ordered 6-7 pieces for 3 dollars and 50 cents, and they were small, which was ridiculous. Even though prices have risen, I would like to inform you that Coquitlam Korean grills are really expensive.

I thought coquitlam has more authentic Korean bbq, but this one isn t the best one. The meat wasn t fresh, they are frozen! If you have been to JJang bbq in Richmond then you need what to compare with. Food

The service is so poor. There was waiting, so we made a waitlist and waited for about 30 minutes, then we got a text message that we could get in within 5 minutes. Thus, we went inside the store. But in that state, we waited for another 10 minutes. Even if the table at the restaurant was empty, there were no staff calling us and no one trying to find customers, so we went to call staff by ourselves and said. However, they thought it was a party with other customers in the back order. The number of waiting customers is written on each team on the waitlist screen, but I dont understand what the staff were confused about. If ready sign was on the screen, I think the staff should have called the customer first.

Ordered the tofu soup with beef on Uber eats. Glad I ordered extra rice as the soup portion was big! Definitely one of the best tofu soups I ve had.

Too smokey to my liking

A few days ago, I ordered 3 rib soup and 1 stone pot bibimbap, but the smell of the meat was so strong that it was difficult to eat them all. I was going to say something, but I just decided to hold on. It wasnt like that before, but the food has changed a lot.

The convenience of the automated ordering pad adds a modern touch, making the process efficient. Furthermore, the midday set menu is attractively priced, offering a combination of quality and affordability that makes it exceptionally fitting for a satisfying lunch.

If you want to be treated like a dog, you should come here. They re great at making you wait and then asking you if you can finish eating at a certain time even before being seated. Thanks for that experience Unfortunate, because usually the food is good.

Delicious Korean food Love it very much!

Really a nice place, was out first time there and our second time eating Korean bbq, so I don t know how it s meant to be, but it was really good, loved it and the atmosphere was very welcoming . I chose only 2 meats but there were so many in the menu.

Not bad. But not everything is delicious, so don t believe Xiaohongshu s random recommendations Just order the pork belly. The sauce crab is also good, slightly sweet. Duck meat (has a fishy smell) and cheese steamed eggs are not recommended.

First time here.. we got the 2-3 couple set beef . Service was great and the side dishes were sufficient. The bean paste soup was delicious. happy with the beef and the corn cheese too. I wish the couple set comes with 2 hotstone bowl of rice though. Loved the purple rice

The raw shrimp and BBQ were amazing!

I had the grilled special for lunch and I would recommend it! Of course, the meat was delicious, and there was a lot of shrimp that I didnt expect, and it was really delicious. They were neither very friendly nor unfriendly. We comfortably grilled it ourselves and added ribs and makguksu, so all three children and adults enjoyed the meal. I plan to visit again next time

This is the worst service Ive ever seen in a restaurant. We called at 4:00 and were told that we couldnt find the location and needed to walk in. We arrived at the store at 6:00 and wrote our names on the waiting list, and we were ranked second. Five minutes later, a woman came in and told the clerk that there were seven of them. The clerk asked them to write their names, and then the woman left. At that time, the table behind us had been cleared, and a woman came over and asked us, are there seven of you? I said, no, there are three of us. She said, you go out and wait. I was confused at that time, why did we have to go out and wait while others didn t have to go out. Then she started making frantic calls and rolling her eyes at us the whole time. The woman came back three minutes later, and another waiter seated them directly at the vacant table at the back. We went directly to the waiter to argue. The first waiter looked unhappy and told us that they had positioned themselves right from the beginning. We asked her why she had to write a waiting list, and since they came in behind us, we witnessed the whole queue-jumping process with our own eyes. I said, I need to find a manager. The waiter said that the one who rolled his eyes just now was the manager. It wasnt until we were seated later that the manager came over and looked like I owed her money, and said rudely to me, Sorry!

This place simply has the worst waitress, they reminds me the prison-guard from North Korea in the movie. Guess what, the default options for the tips are: 22% 20% 18% 15%, lol, if you could hold a baseball bat next time, I would try 1%.

Love the taste of the beef BBQ here! I came with a friend and we ordered a beef BBQ set for two. It came with 2 salads, small sides (see photos), soup, purple rice and lots of small dipping sauces for the meat. It was just enough for 2 people. I would definitely come back to try other menu items. We arrived at 6:30pm on a Saturday night. The restaurant is small and we were told the wait would be 30-45 min. We put our names down and the wait was only 20 minutes. Not bad at all and worth the wait.

Awesome k-bbq place great food great service

Great value for food. But the lady totally forgot our whole order. Did not come back until 15mins later and ask/ confirming our order again then she put in the order. However, at the end is still missed a seafood pancake from our original order.

The staff is unfriendly...I feel it every time...but both men and women are unfriendly. A restaurant that asks you to leave if you eat for more than an hour and there are no more orders.

I had a delicious meal with my family on Tuesday evening, the servers were friendly, the recommended menu was delicious, and I liked the menu composition. However, it was a bit disappointing that the soybean paste stew and rice came out so late.

Sauce shrimps are more delicious than sauce crabs, and those with heads are better than those without heads. The beef bone soup is delicious, and the squid is delicious. Average service

Came here for a quick lunch, soy marinated crab is decent, not too salty. The raw beef bibimbap is too wet for some reason after being mixed. Best thing is that they have an outdoor patio and we were able to bring our dog in :)

Waited over an hour for a table and front staff can see we are waiting. Other tables that came after are getting seated before us. Learn some hospitality. Place is over priced for average quality food, avoid this trash place.

They have the most tender and tasty beef bbq meat!!! We ordered the beef combo for $78. We also added pork belly on the side. My daughter ate so much because the food was so delicious!!! It was totally worth it!!!! Excellent customer service as well!!! This place is very family friendly! Highly recommended! We will definitely come back again!!!

When we arrived we got waitlisted and they didn t in advance tell us there s a five minute limit to come back There s no seats inside for waiting and outside is cold. When we come back from the nearby Walmart after around 10 minutes they said it s over the five minute limit. Worst service ever. Could ve called us instead of SMS message

I have been going to gooi ga for over a year now and it has always exceeded my expectations Foods AMAZING service is awesome and the restaurant is SUPER clean making my stay comfortable. I would recommend this place to anyone who not only loves korean bbq but someone who just enjoys a chill night out enjoying some food and quality time with friends and family. The BBQ here is quite good. The meat is tender and juicy. The chefs skill is truly remarkable!

Business hours are until 10:30, but I guess you get a last call at 9:00. Theres an hour and a half left, but its a last call... I was a little embarrassed because I thought it was too early, but since its meat, lets say its okay. We arrived just before 9 oclock, and as soon as we entered, they said last call within 5 minutes, so we placed our order quickly. They came and asked me to pay before even grilling the meat? The order was placed at 9:05 and the person came to pay at 9:08. I was so upset that I couldnt even ask for a drink. But, perhaps because he already received a tip, he didnt even come to the table once, and he never once asked if I needed anything. Whats even more shocking is that while we were eating, the staff was leaving work one by one, and the kitchen staff turned off the gas and left work, so the fire while grilling the meat went out. The staff didnt know what was going on and kept trying to light the fire, so we said, It looks like the kitchen staff has turned off the gas, and then they said, Ah! After wandering around for a while, he came back with a busta. What is this case... Does the kitchen turn off the gas without checking whether there are guests in the hall or not? The server didnt even once say sorry when we had to stop eating for a while because the gas ran out. Of course, he asked if I wanted a drink, but without further ado, I wonder who would be in a good mood if he immediately asked if I wanted a drink. Then, I spoke to my friend on the phone in the hall so that all the guests could hear... Even though we were the only table left, I think this is a bit much. I wont be visiting again as my two recent experiences were both bad, but Im leaving a review because I need to know whats inside.

Got the $62 lunch special. Disappointed. BBQ meats lacked flavor, even the marinated short rib. The grill was too hot, resulting in food that was burnt outside but undercooked inside, particularly the veggies. The marinated crab was overly salty. The pancake was lukewarm and small, seeming like a leftover. The creamy corn needed more seasoning and wasn t sweet enough. When we shared our feedback with the server, we learned that there had been significant changes in the kitchen staff. We appreciated the servers kindness and gave 2 stars for the service. Its worth noting we were the only patrons that afternoon.

A person who habitually leaves malicious comments left a long negative comment, but I think people who are looking for a good restaurant to eat meat can visit without worrying too much. If you want to eat K-BBQ, there is no place better than grilled food, especially in Koki haha. The quality of the meat and various other foods are all delicious, and the weekday promotions are good value for money, so I tend to stop by often.

I have been here twice now. It tastes great and the lunchtime set menu is great value.

Overpriced for what it is and the food itself was decent, but nothing special. Except for the japchae, the japchae here was the best that Ive had thus far. Overall, probably would not come back, but I did not mind trying it once.

Came here on a Sunday evening and had to wait 5-10 mins on a table for a group of 4 (which wasnt bad at all!). We ordered the family set priced at $167 made for 4 people and it came with a ton of food! Portions were huge and the food just kept coming out one after another. Service was top notch which is expected since they use a service bell (I enjoyed that it mood everytime it rung) but the servers were very friendly and accommodating to our group. We ended up taking home an entire dish and a plate of cooked meat. With the set divided by 4, we each paid around $43! Thats really good value since we all left really full. The vibes to this place was chill and is good to come here with colleagues after work! Everything was super delicious and I highly recommend checking it out

October Special Meat There is a lot of meat and it is soft and delicious. Preparing meat at a restaurant is different from barbecuing at home. Raw ribs are really delicious! The green onions are fresh and seasoned right away. I highly recommend it. October special has pretty good amount of meat included and its taste is soooo good. Must come try them out with your family and friends.

food is pretty good, but customer service is awful . Me and my friends ordered a combo and found a piece of stainless steel scrubbers in the dish. It made me unhappy and the server only offer us a can of pop for apologize which we dont need. So we said we dont need the pop and they just pretend like nothing happened.

Friendly staff and very attentive. Good food and clean restaurant. We ordered the Deluxe set two different times we came, along with appetizers and drinks. Flavourful, filling, and fresh ingredients. Came here to celebrate my birthday and now came back the third time within one month. Reasonable prices and great experience every time. Good for small or big groups. Only take reservations 8+ people. Definitely a Korean bbq that I d recommend!

This place is my top favourite Korean restaurant in Coquitlam. They have amazing quality foods, excellent service, reasonable price, and ofcourse very authentic tasting Korean meals. As a Korean myself, I think by far this is the closest to the taste of home. I highly recommend their Couples set which serves about 2-3 people.

Waitress was rude and showed face when we asked for more side dishes. We were forced to give 18% gratuity just because we are 5 adults plus 1 toddler which makes it a big group? It doesn t make sense and it s not even stated nor posted anywhere in the resto. Meat portions are smaller compared to other Korean BBQ restaurants I ve been to. Anyway, I won t recommend this place to my friends and will definitely not come back! Service was not good and it s not worth the money.
